What if you could genuinely transform your life by simply embodying the characteristics of the person you aspire to be? In this episode, we dissect the empowering notion of "be it until you become it," setting it apart from the age-old advice of "fake it until you make it." Through real-life examples, such as striving to be a better partner or achieving ambitious fitness goals, we highlight how adopting consistent behaviors aligned with your aspirations can lead to true transformation. We explore not just the personal side but also how this mindset can be a game-changer in business. Whether you're seeking to enhance your relationships or push your fitness boundaries, you'll gain valuable insights into creating lasting change.

Shifting focus to the long game, we explore the critical importance of having a long-term vision for success in both personal and professional endeavors. Imagine planning a road trip where you only stop for a few dollars of gas at a time—that's what living without a future-focused strategy feels like. By drawing parallels between thoughtful planning and efficient travel, we encourage you to invest in future solutions, like hiring for roles that will become essential, to break free from the cycle of short-term fixes. This episode is packed with strategies to help you plan ahead, embrace discomfort, and ultimately pave the way for sustained growth and success. Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up, guys?
I wanted to come today and talkto you about something I got
reminded of and I started takingsome action on this once again.
I feel like I've always kind ofdone this thing, but I started
taking action on this once again, and that was trying to be the
future version of what I wantedto be and doing the things of

(00:22):
that future version version ofwhat I wanted to be, and doing
the things of that futureversion.
We hear about this fake ituntil you make it.
But I also heard a quote in apodcast one time when I was
interviewing somebody and theysaid be it until you become it.
And what I'm about to talk toyou about really is along those
same lines, and this whole fakeit till you make it thing is
like, basically, you're justfaking, trying to act like

(00:44):
you're a certain person or acertain way until finally you
make it, and it's really a fakething.
It's not something that you'rereally doing, but this be it
until you become it is morealong the lines of that being
the type of person that you wantto be until you finally become
it.
If I want to be a good husband, what are some of those things

(01:07):
that a good husband does.
Well, a good husband probablylistens to his wife.
A good husband probably triesto do things for his wife,
cherishes his wife, shows hiswife love.
There's all sorts of things, and your definition of a good
husband is going to be differentthan mine and everything.
So what are those things thatmake you a good husband is going
to be different than mine andeverything.
So what are those things thatmake you a good husband?

(01:27):
And this is essentially whatit's like for you.
If you want to become somebody,if you want to get to that next
level of life business, getyour finances in a different
place it's all about being thatperson that you need to be
living to the level of thatindividual.

(01:50):
And just to give you adifferent example here, think
about fitness.
If you want to be somebody thathas six pack abs, then you need
to be doing things that peoplewith six pack abs do and I'm not
talking about the people onsocial media.
They go on these crazy bingediets and treat mill cheat meals
rather not well, kind of treat, but cheat meals as well where

(02:13):
you see the crazy?
Oh, I ate a whole pizza thisweekend, yet Look at my abs.
I still got them all all theseveins and all this stuff.
No, I'm talking about the legitpeople that on a day-to-day
basis.
That they're doing, not theInstagram highlights.
What are they doing on a dailybasis?
Well, they're probably workingout, they're probably walking,
they're watching their waterintake and, most importantly,

(02:44):
they are eating less caloriesthan their body actually burns.
So therefore, they're in acaloric deficit which allows
them to lose the weight untilthey get down there to that six
pack, and then they're able togo back.
But they're right there at thatmaintenance level.
They are not eating in excess,or a thousand calories in excess

(03:05):
of their caloric metaboliclevels.
There we go, their metaboliclevels Wow, that's a little hard
to say, but they are simplyeating so that they can maintain
that body weight.
So when you're first going, yes, you're going to have to do a
little bit of a deficit, but youneed to start eating and acting
in accordance to what somebodywith the six pack does, because

(03:28):
they don't simply just eat rightone meal.
They don't simply just work outone day a week.
They work out five days a week, seven days a week.
It may not be every day, butthey do these things and they
make sure they are eating rightA majority of the time maybe,
again, not all the time, but amajority of time they are eating
right.
They're not going to gettingthe Twinkies or the chocolate

(03:49):
cake or anything like that.
So if you want to get the sixpack abs, you have to start
doing the things that a personthat is in shape does, and so
same thing for you when you wantto do something in life.
If you want to build a biggerbusiness, you need to start
doing things that a biggerbusiness does right now.

(04:10):
That may be standard operatingprocedures, that may be having
systems in place, that may behiring more people.
I'm actually doing thiscurrently, and this was from my
reminder on a coaching call lastweek that I needed to make some
changes, and one of the thingsthat I did and I'm doing right
now is interviewing recruitersfor my virtual assistant agency

(04:32):
to help me with onboarding, todo pre-screening of VAs that we
will be able to bring in to handover to clients and everything
like that, because I realized, yes, I can do that.
Do I need them right now?
No, but the future version ofmy business will need that
recruiter to help with thesethings.
So if I want to get to where Iwant to in the future, rather

(04:54):
than solving today's problem,which is I didn't have a problem
with that, necessarily problemand be that business where I
want to be.
So I'm hiring today for where Iwant to go.
I'm starting to take theactions for where I want to go,
rather than the things that I'mdoing.
Today.

(05:16):
A lot of us in business, we arefighting the daily fires.
We are not thinkingstrategically.
We're stuck here, blinders on,we're looking at this one thing
and we can't think and lookoutside of that.
But if we take a moment andthink about where we're trying
to go, we can start takingactions towards that.
And guess what?

(05:36):
It's going to create morepressure.
It's going to be uncomfortable, but it's also going to allow
you to grow and get towardswhere you're trying to go.
And it's going to make thosefires that you have right now
that seem insurmountable, thatseem like they're never ending.
It's going to allow them to endbecause now you're thinking

(05:57):
long-term, you're thinking abigger picture.
So this fire that seemed likeit was over your head and it was
all consuming now is somethingthat's right there in front of
you.
It's something that's easy totake out because you're planning
for that future, you're puttingthose things in place and now
this becomes such a small thingand you can take care of it.

(06:17):
I'm not saying completelyignore the fires the things that
need immediate attention rightnow but you need to start
thinking about where you'retrying to go.
Stop thinking here in themoment.
Nobody gets the results thatthey want in life by focusing on
today and today's problemsalone.
They get there by having avision, knowing where they're

(06:40):
going and going in thatdirection and doing the things
that get you towards those stepsdirection and doing the things
that get you towards those steps.
It's kind of like going on aroad trip and you have some gas,
and then you go and you're likeyou know what, okay, I got to
stop, we're about to run out.
I'm just going to get $5.
I got some gas, that's all Ineed.
Five bucks It'll get me going.

(07:02):
And you go maybe another 20, 30miles, depending on what the
price of gas is at the momentand how fuel efficient your car
is and you've got to stop againand you get another $5.
And then you go another 20miles and you've got to stop
again.
And you're constantly stoppingtime and time again, because you
are only focused on the problemhere in the moment.

(07:23):
You're not looking long-term.
Okay, maybe I should put $20 in, maybe I should put 20 bucks in
, maybe I should put a hundredbucks in, whatever it costs to
fill up your tank, so you can goa lot further.
And that's what you're doing inyour business right now, most
likely.
So if you want to get out ofthis rat race in your business,
you want to grow that business, you need to be thinking about
the future and if I can help youwith that by helping you with a

(07:46):
virtual assistant, I would loveto help you.
We can have a conversation onthat, but start thinking about
what your future self would doto get to where you want to go
and start taking actions towardsthat.
