Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, beautiful souls, and welcome back to
another episode of Unleash yourInner Radiance.
I'm Lisa Dorn, your lifetransformation coach, real
estate agent and internationalauthor.
I am so thrilled that you arehere with me today as we dive
into the topic that is close tomy heart, like most of these
episodes are.
Let's talk about something weall need to leave behind in 2024

(00:24):
.
And I hope you left it behindbecause it is guilt.
Let's talk about something weall need to leave behind in 2024
.
And I hope you left it behindbecause it is guilt.
Today and every day, let's stopfeeling guilty for simply being
human.
It's time to free ourselvesfrom the weight of unrealistic
expectations and embrace who wetruly are.
If you are ready to make 2025the year of self-acceptance and

(00:49):
joy, this episode is for you.
Let's get started.
The guilt trap.
Let's start by talking aboutguilt.
Guilt, it can be healthy and itcan be a healthy emotion when
it's about taking responsibilityfor a genuine mistake.

(01:09):
But way too often, guiltbecomes like a constant
companion that shows up whenit's not needing.
We don't need it.
We don't want it to show up,and you know what it's doing.
It's holding us back Because,if you guys are like me, it

(01:31):
whispers.
You should have done more oryou're not enough.
Does this sound familiar?
You know we live in a worldthat is constantly telling us to
do more, be more and have itall together, but here's the
truth.
You don't have to carry thatburden.

(01:51):
Guilt doesn't make you a betterperson.
It doesn't make you a moreproductive person or a more
loving person or a moresuccessful person.
In fact, it often does theopposite, because it weighs you
down, it drains your energy, andthat keeps you from fully

(02:16):
enjoying your life.
So let's talk about how we'regoing to stop the feeling of
guilt.
I've got 19 things that you needto do to stop feeling guilty
and let go of guilt in 2025.

(02:38):
Here they are.
One having an opinion.
It's okay to think for yourself, because your voice does matter
.
However, you don't have toagree with everyone to be kind
or respectful.
You don't.
Two is saying no.
Saying no is not an act ofself-care and it's certainly not

(03:03):
selfish.
It's about setting boundaries,it's about protecting your time
and your energy, and that's yourright.
Three my favorite taking a nap.
Rest is not laziness, but it isessential to your human body.

(03:24):
Right.
Your body and your mind needdowntime to recharge.
Number four eating food thatyou enjoy.
You know food is nourishment, but it's also a joy.
So let go of the guilt aboutindulging in your favorite
treats now and then.

(03:44):
Number five is aging.
Now, I know it's hard to lookat this way, but aging is a
privilege, and every year you'rehere is a gift.
So let's celebrate that journeyinstead of feeling bad about

(04:09):
your wrinkles and your gray hair.
Right, we all have gray hair.
Color it Skipping a workout.
Your worth isn't tied to howmany workouts you do, so listen
to your body, sometimes rest andmaybe meditation or a light

(04:32):
yoga is way more important.
Seven making mistakes.
You know we all mess up.
Clean up your messes, learnfrom them and move on, because
your mistakes do not define you,but how you grow from them does

(04:54):
.
So how do you grow from yourmistakes?
Eight watching silly TV.
You know joy doesn't have to beproductive.
If a funny show makes you laugh, enjoy it guilt-free.
You don't always have to bebusy.

(05:17):
Nine not being able to do it all.
You're one person.
You are not a superhero None ofus are and you don't have to do
everything, and that's okay.
And that is something that Ineed to learn for myself,
because to me, I just think Ihave to do everything in order

(05:39):
for it to be done right, and Ineed to get over that.
Ten not having it all togetherall the time.
Life is messy.
All the time Life is messy,it's okay to drop the ball
sometimes, apologize if you needto, but then let it go.
We all just need to learn to dolife messy, because that is the

(06:08):
only way we can get through it.
Eleven I am notorious for this, for getting to text back.
Own it if you forget, but don'tbeat yourself up.
People who love you willunderstand.
Do you know how many times Istart writing a text and then I
must get a phone call, or Godonly knows what happens.
And then I'm wondering why thatperson didn't text me back?
Well, it's because I never sentthe text in the first place.
I'm wondering why that persondidn't text me back?
Well, it's because I never sentthe text in the first place.

(06:31):
Twelve being blamed for thingsthat aren't your fault.
You are not responsible forother people's choices or
emotions, so let go of the guiltthat doesn't belong to you.
You don't need that on yourshoulders.
Thirteen feeding your family oryourself meals, easy meals like

(06:54):
frozen pizza.
I used to eat cereal for dinnerall the time because I love
Cheerios.
Who cares?
You are doing your best andthat is enough.
Fourteen changing pant sizes.
Well, bodies change.

(07:18):
Pants are just fabric and yourworth isn't tied to the number
on the tag.
However, when you gain weightbecause of menopause or whatever
else is going on with your bodybecause you're just older,
going and buying bigger pants isa little detrimental to you.
But you know we all have to gothrough it.
Fifteen overdoing it orunderdoing it.

(07:41):
Some days you give 110%, somedays you barely scrape by.
Both are a part of being human.
Barely scrape by.
Both are a part of being human.
Sixteen having a failed shortchart.
Hmm, your value is not tied tohow perfectly you run your

(08:04):
household.
Give yourself grace, just dothat, it's okay.
Seventeen having big feelings.
You know emotions are normal.
Whether you're feeling joy, sadness, anger or fear.

(08:29):
It's all a part of the humanexperience.
But if you've got big emotions, you might want to keep a
journal so that we can figureout your trigger points.
18, being a work in progress, you know none of us are finished
products, and be happy thatwe're not, because we'd probably

(08:50):
be dead, but life is aboutgrowth and not perfection,
because perfection will hold youback.
You don't need to knoweverything to do something.
So keep growing, keep reading, keep listening to podcasts, keep
doing things that make yourmind grow, things that make your

(09:17):
mind grow 19.
Being imperfectly human, let'sall embrace our humanness.
Is that a word?
It's what makes us beautifullyunique.
How's that for a list?
Now we're going to go intosomething that is really tough
to do the power of letting go.
When we let go of guilt, wemake room for something much

(09:44):
more powerful Freedom.
Freedom to live authentically.
Freedom to pursue our dreams, freedom to enjoy life without
constantly second-guessingourselves.
Do you do that?
Because I second-guess myself alot.

(10:08):
So let's talk about a few stepsto help you start letting go of
guilt.
So are you ready for this One?
You need to recognize it,notice when you are feeling
guilty and ask yourself is thisguilt serving me?
Two challenge it Is the guiltbased on a real mistake or is it

(10:38):
coming from unrealisticexpectations?
If it's the latter, let it go.
And trust me, that one is alittle bit hard to let go,
because a lot of my guilt isbased on unrealistic
expectations of myself.
Three reframe your thoughts.

(10:59):
This is where I said to keep ajournal, instead of thinking I
should have done more, try.
I did the best with what Icould with what I had.
Four practice self-compassion.
Treat yourself with the samekindness that you would show a

(11:20):
friend and remind yourself thatyou are human and that you are
doing your best.
Even if you are not giving 100%, as long as you are moving
forward, you're doing your best.
And then I want to talk aboutfive, because I want you to set

(11:42):
realistic expectations, becauseperfection isn't a goal.
I want you to focus on progress, not perfection.
I am more of the perfectionistand that does not serve me at
all.
And then six focus on gratitude.

(12:04):
Instead of dwelling on what youdidn't do, celebrate what you
did.
I know that's hard, because ifyou don't feel like doing
something and you don't do it,then you're like guilty because
you didn't do it.
So I'm in this letter writingthing and my goal is to write 10

(12:26):
to 20 to 30 letters a day, andsome days I get in the mode
where I don't just can't focusright.
So therefore I don't write anyletters.
But if I just would have wrote10 letters, that would have been
something right.
So that's why I'm saying youneed to focus on the gratitude

(12:50):
instead of dwelling on what youdidn't do.
So I need to focus on the factthat I wrote 10 letters no, I
didn't write 20.
And no, I didn't write 30.
But I need to celebrate thefact that I wrote 10.
Because gratitude shifts yourmindset from lack to abundance.
So that's how I'm working onshifting my mindset, and I think

(13:10):
we should work on that together.
So here is my challenge for youI'm giving you permission to be
you, and my challenge for you aswe step into 2025 is to give
yourself permission to be you.
Drop the guilt, embrace yourimperfections, celebrate your

(13:33):
wins, no matter how small, because they are all wins, and
remember you don't have to do itall to be worthy, because you
already are.
If this episode resonated withyou, please share it with

(13:55):
someone who needs to hear it.
I want to spread this messageof self-love and acceptance to
everybody and, if you want moreinspiration, connect with me on
social media or visit my websiteat changeyourlifewithlisacom.
But until next time, I want youto remember that you are worthy

(14:20):
and deserving of everything youwant in your life.
So keep shining, keep lovingyourself and keep being
radiantly unapologetically you.
This is Lisa, and I will seeyou on the next episode.
Here's to an amazing,guilt-free 2025.
