Pastor Plek (00:11):
Matthew, chapter 11 .
When Jesus had finishedinstructing his 12 disciples, he
went on from there to teach andpreach in their cities.
Now, when John heard in prisonabout the deeds of the Christ,
he sent word by his disciplesand said to him are you the one
who is to come or shall we lookfor another?
And Jesus answered them go andtell John what you hear and see.
The blind receive their sightand the lame walk.

(00:33):
Lepers are cleansed and thedeaf hear, and the dead are
raised up, and the poor havegood news preached to them, and
blessed is the one who is notoffended by me.
As they went away, jesus beganto speak to the crowds.
Concerning John, what did yougo out into the wilderness?
To see A reed shaken by thewind.
What, then, did you go out tosee A man dressed in soft

(00:53):
clothing?
Behold, those who wear softclothing are in king's houses.
What, then, did you go out tosee A prophet?
Yes, I tell you, and more than aprophet, this is he of whom it
is written.
Behold, I send my messengerbefore your face, who will
prepare your way before you.
Truly, I say to you, amongthose born of women, there is

(01:14):
risen no one greater than Johnthe Baptist.
Yet the one who is least in thekingdom of heaven is greater
than he.
From the days of John theBaptist until now, the kingdom
of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by
force For all the prophets andthe law prophesied until John.
And if you are willing toaccept it, he is Elijah who is
to come.
Who has ears to hear, let himhear.

(01:36):
But what shall I compare thisgeneration?
It's like children sitting inthe marketplace and calling to
their playmates.
We played the flute for you andyou did not dance.
We sang a dirge and you did notmourn.
For John came neither eating ordrinking.
They say he has a demon.
The son of man came eating anddrinking.
They say Look at him.
A glutton and a drunkard, afriend of tax collectors and
sinners.
Yet wisdom is justified by herdeeds.

(02:00):
Then he began to denounce thecities where most of his mighty
works had been done, becausethey did not repent.
Woe to you, chorazin, woe toyou, bethsaida, for if the
mighty works done in you hadbeen done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would have repented longago in sackcloth and ashes.
But I tell you, it would bemore bearable on the day of

(02:22):
judgment for Tyre and Sidon thanfor you and you, capernaum,
will you be exalted to heaven?
You will be brought down toHades, for if the mighty works
done in you had been done inSodom, it would have remained
until this day.
But I tell you that it will bemore tolerable, on the day of
judgment, for the land of Sodomthan for you.
At that time, jesus declared Ithank you, father, lord of
heaven and earth, that you havehidden these things from the

(02:44):
wise and understanding andrevealed them to little children
.
Yes, father, for such was yourgracious will.
All things have been handedover to me by my Father, and no
one knows the Son except theFather, and no one knows the
Father except the Son and anyoneto whom the Son chooses to
reveal him.

(03:04):
Come to me all who labor andare heavy laden, and I will give
you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learnfrom me, for I am gentle and
lowly in heart, and you willfind rest for your souls, for my
yoke is easy and my burden islight.
This is the word of the Lord.
