Matthew, chapter 4.
He was hungry and the temptercame and said to him if you are
the son of God, command thesestones to become loaves of bread
.
But he answered it is writtenman shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word thatcomes from the mouth of God.
Then the devil took him to theholy city and set him on the
pinnacle of the temple and saidto him if you are the son of God

(00:41):
, throw yourself down, for it iswritten he will command his
angels concerning you and ontheir hands they will bear you
up lest you strike your footagainst the stone.
Jesus said to him again it iswritten you shall not put the
Lord, your God, to the test.
Again, the devil took him to avery high mountain, showed him
all the kingdoms of the worldand their glory, and he said to

(01:02):
him all these I will give you ifyou will fall down and worship
me.
Then Jesus said to him be gone,satan, for it is written you
shall worship the Lord, your God, and serve him.
Only Then the devil left himand began and behold, angels
came and were ministering to him.
Now, when he heard that Johnhad been arrested, he withdrew

(01:22):
into Galilee and, leavingNazareth, he went and lived in
Capernaum, by the sea, in theterritory of Zebulun and
Naphtali, so that what wasspoken by the prophet Isaiah
might be fulfilled the land ofZebulun, the land of Naphtali,
the way of the sea, beyond theJordan, galilee of the Gentiles.
The people dwelling in darknesshave seen a great light and,
for those dwelling in the region, a shadow of death.

(01:43):
On them, a light has dawned.
From that time, jesus began topreach, saying repent, for the
kingdom of heaven is a hand.
While walking by the sea ofGalilee, he saw two brothers,
simon, who is called Peter, andAndrew, his brother, casting a
net into the sea, for they werefishermen, and he said to them

(02:05):
follow me and I will make youfishers of men.
Immediately they left theirnets and follow him.
And going on from there, he sawtwo other brothers, james, the
son of Zebedee, and John, hisbrother, in the boat with
Zebedee, their father, mendingtheir nets, and he called them.
Immediately they left the boatand their father and followed
him.
And he went throughout allGalilee teaching in their
synagogues and proclaiming thegospel of the kingdom and
healing every disease and everyaffliction among the people.

(02:28):
So his fame spread throughoutall Syria and they brought him
all the sick, those afflictedwith various diseases and pains,
those oppressed by demons,epileptics, paralytics, and he
healed them.
And great crowds followed himfrom Galilee and the Decapolis
and from Jerusalem and Judea andfrom beyond the Jordan.
This is the word of the Lord.
