Pastor Plek (00:19):
Matthew, chapter 9.
Lying on a bed, and when Jesussaw their faith, he said to the
paralytic take heart, my son, your sins are forgiven.
And behold, some of the scribessaid to themselves this man is
blaspheming.
But Jesus, knowing theirthoughts, said why do you think
evil in your hearts?
For which is easier to say yoursins are forgiven or to say

(00:42):
rise and walk, but that you mayknow that the son of man has
authority on earth to forgivesins?
He then said to the paralyticrise, pick up your bed and go
home.
And he rose and went home.
When the crowd saw it, theywere afraid and they glorified
God who had given such authorityto men.
As Jesus passed on from there,he saw a man called Matthew

(01:02):
sitting at the tax booth and hesaid to him follow me.
And he rose and followed him.
And as Jesus reclined at tablein the house, behold, many tax
collectors and sinners came andwere reclining with Jesus and
his disciples.
And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples why
does your teacher eat with taxcollectors and sinners?
But when he heard it, he saidthose who are well have no need

(01:24):
of a physician, but those whoare sick, go and learn what this
means.
I desire mercy and notsacrifice, for I came not to
call the righteous, but sinners.
Then the disciples of John cameto him saying why do we and the
Pharisees fast, but yourdisciples do not fast?
And Jesus said to them can thewedding guests mourn as long as
the bridegroom is with them?

(01:44):
The days will come when thebridegroom is taken away from
them and then they will fast.
No one puts a piece of unshrunkcloth on an old garment.
Neither is new wine put in oldwineskins.
If it is, the skins burst andthe wine is spilled and the
skins are destroyed.
But new wine is put into freshwineskins, so both are preserved
.

(02:05):
While he was saying these thingsto them, behold a ruler came in
and knelt before him, saying mydaughter has just died, but
come and lay your hands on herand she will live.
And Jesus rose and followed himwith his disciples.
And behold, a woman who hadsuffered from a discharge of
blood for 12 years came upbehind him and touched the
fringe of his garment.
For she said to herself, if Ionly touch his garment, I will

(02:27):
be made well.
Jesus turned and, seeing her,he said take heart, daughter.
Your faith has made you welland instantly the woman was made
well.
And when Jesus came to theruler's house and saw the flute
players and the crowd making acommotion, he said go away, for
the girl's not dead but sleeping.
And they laughed at him.
But when the crowd had been putoutside, he went in and took

(02:47):
her by the hand and the girlarose and the report of this
went through all the district.
And as Jesus passed on fromthere, two blind men followed
him crying loud have mercy on us, son of David.
When he entered the house, theblind men came to him and Jesus
said to them do you believe thatI am able to do this?
They said to him yes, lord.
Then he touched their eyessaying according to your faith,

(03:09):
be it done to you.
And their eyes were open andJesus sternly warned them,
seeing that no one knows aboutit.
But they went away and spreadhis fame throughout all that
district.
And as they're going away, behold a demon, oppressed man
who was mute was brought to him.
And when the demon had beencast out, the mute man spoke and
the crowds marveled, sayingnever was anything like this

(03:33):
seen in Israel.
But the Pharisee said he castout demons by the prince of
demons.
And Jesus went throughout allthe cities and villages,
teaching in their synagogues andproclaiming the gospel of the
kingdom and healing everydisease and every affliction.
When he saw the crowds, he hadcompassion for them, because
they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciplesthe harvest is plentiful, but

(03:53):
the laborers are few.
Therefore, pray earnestly tothe Lord of the harvest to send
out laborers into his harvest.
This is the word of the Lord.
