We're closing out 2025 with a review of our Letterboxd stats and then doing something a little different: instead of looking back and discussing favorite new-to-me watches (most of which we would have already discussed in other episodes), this year we look forward to 2026 and share what our film-watching resolutions are. Speaker 1 (00:02):
Prepare yourself for the terror the prison of madness. We
have few inter and Nonritter.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Welcome to Unsung Horrors with LUNs.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
And Denka.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Leave all your sanity behind. It can't help you now.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Welcome to the final episode of Unsung Horrors for twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'm Erica, I'm Lance.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
And this year we're going to do something a little
bit different for our end of year episode. In the past,
we have done our letterbox stats followed.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
By favorite watches.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Yeah, and you know, this year was a little bit
different because I went to Lance with this and I said, look,
I don't really have anything to talk about for favorite
watches of twenty twenty five that we haven't already talked
about in the podcast, right, and we like to make
sure that, you know, people get their ear money's worth

(01:21):
if you will, you know, and not just sort of repeat,
you know, the same movies over and over and just
you know, bringing those back up. So I had the
idea that we instead of talking about the past, let's
talk about the future, and let's talk about our resolutions
for twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
There you go, what do we want to do?

Speaker 4 (01:44):
And you know, what are we planning on doing to accomplish.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
I'm going to be completely vulnerable and might be made
fun of for how many blind spots people.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Well, you know, no, there's no shame in what you
have not seen.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
There trillions of movies out there, millions of movies.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Yeah, I'm like billions. No, we're not even at billions yet.
There's millions of movies out there, and there's stuff that
I still have not seen. And I'm sure that there's
some blind spots that I will fill next year that
I will talk about. But before that, we are going
to talk about our letterbox stats. Full disclosure. We are
recording this at the end of November, so these are
subject to change, but we'll share our final results in

(02:27):
our discord, which is where you should be as well.
That's right, all right, Lance, Let's start with you. Who
were your most watched actors.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I do want to point out that I haven't watched
as many movies as I have in the past. Oh yeah,
you know, it's been kind of a crazy year for
both of us, you know, when it comes to like
personal job stuff and all sorts of stuff traveling. So
I haven't even hit although it's still my goal. I
want to hit three sixty five. Okay, I'm about eighty

(03:01):
plus away and I got like a month and e step.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
That's a that's a goal for the rest of twenty
four this Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
I'm hoping my holiday break will be uh, work will
be chill, and I'll just watch like eight movies a
day till then.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
I mean, on that topic, though, this year has been
my lowest viewing number since twenty nineteen. I'm not counting
twenty eighteen because that was the I was only on
letterbox for like half the year. But listen, listen to
these numbers twenty nineteen, four hundred and twelve twenty twenty.
We all know what happened then one thoy forty five

(03:35):
movies twenty twenty one, eight ninety four still ridiculous, but
not twenty twenty numbers. Twenty twenty two was seven to eleven,
twenty twenty three five point fifty two twenty twenty four
roughly the same five point fifty nine. This year, as
of today, is three hundred and eighty. I'm going to
hit four hundred because John and I are doing a

(03:57):
marathon on Thanksgiving. I've got a bunch of moviees lined
up to watch for the book for the end of
the year, so I'll probably just barely break four hundred,
but that's still gonna be the lowest number I've had
in years.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Same. Yeah, I'm sitting at two hundred and eighty four logs,
so yeah, I'm going to shoot for three sixty five.
But we'll see what happens. Okay, Cass, you wanted to
jump right in. Yeah, you said most watchcast?

Speaker 4 (04:22):
What was your most watch cast folks for this year
so far?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Okay, let's do top five. Mercedes Macambridge of course. Who.
I think a lot of these are going to be Well,
we'll explain it. Obviously, we covered Run Home Slow, so
she was my favorite part of that movie when we
covered that on an episode earlier this year, and I
really dove into her filmography, loved everything I watched with

(04:46):
her in it. And then I've if you listen to
or Gets Back, This was a great idea to do
our episode in this format, our end of year episode,
because most of my favorite watches were in Horror Gives
Back of the Year and most of more Mexican Who
So my next actor is Lorena Velasquez. Hell yeah, the best,

(05:09):
the Queen of Queen of Cinema yea. Then we have
Joaquin Cordero, doctor Setan himself. He's also in the Book
of Stone. We wrapped up our episode with Abraham Castilla Flores,
and yeah, it was cool to bring up a lot
of these actors that are in my top Carlos Sagosti, Hormankobos,

(05:30):
who was also in another one of our episodes that
we covered, Sexy Cat, Sexy Cat, Sexy Cat. He was
in Lola Cult, Reverence Cult, Hidden Pleasures, which is fantastic. Yeah,
those are my top five.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
So my top five and not even my top five,
my top two three.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Well, I'm looking at mine. I'm going down to top twelve,
and they're all other than Mercedes play Cambridge. They're Mexican
or Mexican cinema actors. Okay, I love.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
So I'm scrolling down my top forty actors except for
one are all Hong Kong actors.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
That one is ice Cube, right, it's Christopher Lee.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Okay, he's the only non Hong Kong actor that I have.
Because you know, Lance and I did some work on
Hong Kong. We did a commentary together for Hanted Tale,
so that involved quite a few watches. I did a
couple of video essays or booklet essays on some releases,

(06:39):
and so there's just there's just a lot of Hong
Kong going on in this house in general, and so
and the weird the hard part is is like I
don't even know who some of these people are, because
they could they're just probably like background characters in random films.
I know who some of them are, Like Ching Mao,
I know who he is. I know who Koufeng is,

(07:02):
Eddie Ko, I know who that is. But this guy
who's my number five, Chung Chok Chow, the fuck is this?
I don't know, but I watched him in like ten
Shaw Brothers movies.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
He's the Carla Mansini of Yeahhaw Brothers.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
I think I have a lot of Carlo Mancini's on
my top forty list here. You know my other one,
my top one is fourteen movies for Yang Chi Ching. Again,
these are all Shaw Brothers movies, And so that might
be a resolution for me to not go so hard
into Shaw Brothers next year so that I have a
little bit more. I mean, I'm glad this is like

(07:40):
it's not all like old white dudes, but it's also
like I have zero well, I have very little variety
in my list.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
My top actor is Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, and
then we're going to jump to who's at Hugh Jackman,
Matthew mcconna, Adam, there you go.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
So, yeah, my cast is not very diverse here. I
think I've got one woman in here, it's Mama Hung
who's probably you know. Oh no, there's two, three, there's
another one Chingley. Sorry, so but out of forty that's
you know, it's not great. So it's gonna be hard though,
because fucking Shout Factory keeps coming out with their box sets.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Yeah, doing great work.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
I've got the Purple box coming from Arrow that might
just got my shipping notification for that. So but thankfully
a lot of those I've seen, so I can be like,
all right, I'm not gonna fucking watch those this year, right,
but hopefully, you know, by setting the resolutions, I can say, no,
I am gonna I am going to diversify next year.
So we'll see. What about you.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
For directors, oh, for top directors, yeah, okay, David Lynch passed,
so he's my top. I did so many rewatches of
his so yeah, early in the year, a lot of
David Lynch. Then I have Jess Franco who every year
he pops up. I feel like in my top three
or five. At least some of those watches were due

(09:07):
to Mercedes, with Cambridge being in a few of his films,
two Undercover Angels, which was my Sexy Cat double feature.
So a lot of these are podcasts related, which they
usually are, but specifically this next director moutf who you know.
We did the Haunted Tale, Shawscares Volume one, commentary four.

(09:29):
Then Scorsese made it top four for me. I actually
watched a few of his films twice, the last Waltz,
which I usually watched multiple times a year. I love
that documentary. I watched Cape Fear on my flight to Germany.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
I just watched about the name John gar from the library.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
It's so good. Yes, yeah, my Germany flight was Cape
Fear two thousand and one Space Odyssey. And on the
way back I watched Twins with you know, Danny DeVito.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
And Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
We Forget and Arnold schwarz I watched Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice and
Dumb and Dumber. That was great. That's a great trip.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
I'm judging your watches. If I had been sitting next
to you.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
I'd have been like, there wasn't there's not a lot
of the selection isn't great on Luftanza, but it's funny.
It's funny enough. And then I watched the Apocalypse collection
from Peter Schulkin. Yea, the Polish films. Yeah, so he's
in my top five?

Speaker 4 (10:34):
Nice?

Speaker 2 (10:35):
What are you? Who are your directors? Are they all there?

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Thankfully? No? Well, the first one chore you in is
far and away number one, but with ten films. TF
moves in there as well with five films. But then
we start getting a little bit more diverse. I've got
Illoyd de la Iglecia in there with five films, Kiyoshi
Krosawa four films, and Todd Browning stuck in there three

(11:00):
films from or gives back. I will say, though, that
I know this is going to change because I do
have the decalogue from Criterion, which is the I'm gonna
butcher this name, Christoph Kislowski director. All right, I'm so anyway,

(11:21):
I'm gonna be watching all of that the day after Thanksgiving.
I'm gonna I know how to party, y'all. But those
technically count as individual films, so that there's ten.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Will make him your number one director.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
I think you would be tied with with your jun
So yeah, but just some other like you know, random
top director watches. Louisa Warren in there, who is a
British female director who makes absolute garbage asylum level tooth
fairy movies that I watch because kills. Yeah, that was

(12:01):
a hard day. Jess Franco's in there too, but I
only have like two films from him, so I think,
like I just you know, going hard into the Hong
Kong really just sort of push those directors at the top.
So again, I'm going to try to change that for
next year. Nice all right, So you want to go
back and forth with resolutions or do you want to

(12:23):
do all years and then I do?

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Allline, let's just yeah, let's just let's tag team. Let's
go back and forth. I just have fun with this.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
What's your first resolution you have for your twenty twenty
six watching?

Speaker 2 (12:33):
So I want to I love watching new movies, you know,
new to me every year, but I do want to
I want to focus a little more on rewatches, which
might be I also want to do a twin Peaks,
the Return rewatch, maybe the whole series, maybe both seasons
and the return. But I tend to forget some films
that I highly rate or even rate low scores all

(12:58):
letter Box, and I want to revisit them. Tastes do
change or evolve, or as Adam in Discord says, in
his case, devolve. So yeah, I want to get more
rewatches and some of my favorites and some of my
like low rated films, just to see what's going on there.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Did you make a list of like those movies that
you have in mind for your rewatches for next year?

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Not really, No, I didn't. I don't have. There's a
lot of because I started logging my films on Letterbox
in twenty seventeen. So I do want to watch a
lot of movies that I haven't logged on Letterbox that
I know watched tons as a kid, like Caveman and
I mean like Strange Brew. I just kind of want
to revisit these old movies that I may have not

(13:44):
logged on Letterbox yet that I want to get added
to my watch. So because I know like a lot
of people will join Letterbox in every movie they've seen
they log which I totally get. But I just started
on in twenty seventeen, and that's where my diary and
my films watch just started from.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
That makes sense. I make a list for everything.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
I mean, I probably will, but it'll take away from
movie watching, No kidding yours.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
So one of my first resolutions, and this is sort
of piggybacking off the fact that I just had to
watch uh Listomania and I fucking hate Roger Daltrey and I.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Fucking hate The Who.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
But I am done with the Ken Russell Roger Daltrey movies.
I suffered through Tommy, I suffered through Listomania, and I
need a palette cleanser. And so I was looking at
Ken Russell films and I was like, all right, you know,
there's a bunch on here that I haven't seen yet
that I know are going to be really good and
some not so great. But I do I'm going to

(14:46):
try to make Ken Russell my top one of my
top directors for next year, but all new watches and
possibly a rewatch of the Devils just because it's perfect.
So I've got Trapped Ashes on my list, that's on
cannab I've got Savage Savage Messiah on my list. I've
got a DVD of that we Love video has Whoror

(15:07):
and Fall of the Louse of Usher. I love that title,
although I've heard it's not great, so I'm keeping expectations
low for that one. The music lovers, I think that
one's streaming. The Boyfriend I'm going to have to track
down somewhere. And then I saw Valentino is on two
be So I've got seven planned of new watches for
Russell for next year. So that's my first goal or

(15:30):
resolution is to watch more Ken Russell, watch more good
Ken Russell. That doesn't a fucking Roger Daltrey in it. God,
I hate him.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Well always stop it.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Yeah, No, I have a resolution too, but it's not
specific to a director. I just want to watch some
of the classics from the greats. I have some blind
spots from Krosawa. I have no films logged from Fellini.
There's some Hitchcocks, most of his older stuff. I'd like
to go back and watch his earlier work. Some Vound well,
Julio Bracco. There's a lot of you know, focusing again

(16:02):
on Mexican or cinema. Yeah, I want to, I want to.
I want to fill in a lot of the cinematic
masterpieces that I just haven't logged.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Fellini's on my resolutions list for next year too, because
John got me the box set the Criterion One for
Christmas last year. Yeah it's still unopened. Yeah, and I
feel terrible about that. So Fellini, for sure, more Pasolini
that I have not seen yet. I watched some. I
love my Italian trash. We both do.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, you know, we're watching it next year for sure.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
But like I'm I'm like, I the the amount of
Italian trash that I watch versus like the classic films
that I should be watching. Like I was. I was
rewatching part of La dulce Vita preparing for the Miskatonic
Lecture because I wanted to make a connection between that

(16:56):
and Who Can Kill a Child? And and I was
watching that and I was like, this is so good,
and I was like, why would I do this enough?

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Exactly, You're right. And That's where I'm like, Yeah, I'm
looking at like all the greats and all these movies
I want to see, like Lidulte VI eight and a half.
I mean, there's masterpieces I haven't watched, and I'm like,
I mean, there's no panic, right, here, I can just
pop this ng you know, I mean, yeah, I feel you. Yeah,
And again, like you said, the Fellini box sets sitting

(17:27):
on your shelf for you know, maybe over a year.
That's another resolution. I have unopened Blu rays on my
shelf from five, six, seven years ago that I want
to bust those open. Yeah, I need. I need to
get to my physical media and watch some of the
special features and watch the movies again. And that'll go
in summer rewatches too, because I buy some a lot
of stuff just for special features.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
So I think that's what I want to do too,
with a lot of rewatches is really focus on I
would love to rewatch Rubbocop for the five hundredth time.
But oh wait, I haven't heard this commentary yet. Even
though I just you know, things like that I think
I would want to do. I'm going to continue to
be as frugal as I was when I was unemployed

(18:11):
about buying movies going into this year, because I have
so many movies that we have not watched yet that
are unopened. And if I really am like, oh, you
know what, I really need to watch Jeane Dillman because
I've never seen it, I can get from the library.
I don't need to buy it.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
I saw that this year at Paramount. Ye, there's summer classics.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
I meant to go and then I didn't, and I
still I have two free passes I need to use
before the end of the year.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Thank you for the reminder to Paramount. Yes, yeah, good luck.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
You want to go, I'll.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Go with you. Yeah. And I was just waiting for
the invite, okay.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
I was like, you're just staring at me. I'm like, yes, Lance,
you can go it.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Hello. Yeah, I haven't even seen what the program is.
Programming is for the rest of the year, but.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Neither I got to use them though, and it's going
to be free, so that's all the matters, all right,
what else you got?

Speaker 5 (19:02):
So?

Speaker 2 (19:03):
You know every year and it's probably going to be
the same next year. But my US films, the stats
by country just kind of overshadows my foreign international films
from other countries. I did really well with Mexico this year,
but obviously I want to watch more foreign films. I

(19:23):
think watching a lot of the classics from like Herosawa, Felini, Boon.
While Bracho is going to help with that. I want
to dive more. I haven't watched a whole lot of
South Korean cinema, so I want to kind of dive
deeper into that, especially after watching The Whaling, which I
absolutely was just like, yeah, give me, you know, fourteen
hours more of this.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
I have one that's come I've got a essay coming
out on really so fully that it's going to come
out next year. It's been sitting for a while and
it's really good.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
I'll watch that one. That'll help with my SOF Korea stats.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
It's not going to help you not buy movies.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Yeah, well, yeah, I've been frugal for you know, almost
two years. I'm very selective on what I've been buying
because I do have a lot of stuff sitting on
the shelf. So I think next year I could open
up a little more.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Okay, it's or you can borrow my contributor coffee if
I get one better.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
But another thing that to help with the four and
this will help with U K. But I want to
watch all the James Bond movies.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
I started a couple of months ago. You know, I'm
just watching them sporadically, and there are a lot of
fun even the ones that are terrible. Yeah, a lot
of people like the gold Finger the best, but I yeah,
I loved From Russia with Love the best so far.
So yeah, I want to watch all the Bond like
the Pierce Bras, and I've only seen GoldenEye when I

(20:46):
was a kid, a lot of the Roger Morris. I'm
just I'm going to watch all those. That's a goal.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
John went on a kick with those. It's either early
this year, this year or late last year. I think
I watched one with him because and I don't think
it was during that kick. It was a while ago.
And because I had literally never seen a James Bond
movie in my life. I might have Daniel Craig done
the new stuff, oh you know, yeah I did. I
saw one of the newer ones. I don't I don't

(21:12):
know which is which, the one with Javier bardem Skyfall Okay,
I saw that and I was.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Like, yeah, that one's guy. I saw the Theater and
Casino Royal is my favorite so far series. I haven't
watched the Last Specter and.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
I just you know, just never really like grabbed me
and I was like, I'd never seen one of the
like classic like you know, Roger Moore, Sean Connery ones.
I think I saw Golden Eye maybe in the theater.
I don't remember though. Anyway, I watched one of them
with John I don't remember which one it was, and
I was just like, no, not for you. It is

(21:46):
way too male fantasy for me. It's just really too
much for me. And I'm like, no, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Yeah, And that's what when I'm watching them, I'm like,
I mean, come on, it is fucking Sean Connery that hot,
like he's yeah, it's just terrible how he treats.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
I mean.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
The thing is is like I love movies that fucking
have the most horrendous fucking behavior. Yeah, yeah, I love, Like,
give me Raped by an Angel one through five. I'll
watch the whole thing in one day, you know. But
like when it comes to those movies that they're so
clearly appealing to that male fantasy, I'm just I don't know.

(22:27):
I'm just maybe I'll give him another try in a
couple of years. I don't know. But when I watched it,
I was like, no, I'm good. I don't need to
watch anymore.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
That's one reason I didn't like Goldfinger is how they
treat a character called pussy Galore and she's so strong
willed and badass the whole movie, and of course she
caves to Bond and his fucking yeah yeah, Actually that's
sounds familiar.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
I think that is the one I watched because I
remember being like, really, I looked at John and I
was like, oh, so she just gives in because you know,
he's got.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
A magic cock because he has like duck Lips on this.
I got duck Lips and James. But it's too much.
But I really they're entertaining and I want to finish it.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Okay, I don't blame you.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
I mean, you know, I'm a man for you. Okay, Well,
having said that, I do. There is a list the
top two hundred and fifty women directed films on Letterboxed.
I'm only at eight percent. You know, there's obviously a
lot of great women directed films that aren't included in
this list, but I do want to tackle that list.
I'd like to start filling that up, at least get

(23:33):
it to the double digits.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
All right, I'm probably less than that, actually, So one
of my other resolutions is I'm going to finish John
Carpenter's filmography because I've only got a few and I
was like, you know what, completest, I'm going to do it.
I've never seen the ward. I know it's going to
be bad. I know I never heard, but I'm going

(23:56):
to do it. I've never seen Elvis, so I'm very
excited to finally watch that.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
I've actually watched. Yeah, I watched all that stuff, but
this was pre twenty seventeen. It was when he I
think it was in twenty sixteen when he came with
his first Lost Theme tour and I watched everything with Sarah.
She Oh, good for you, Sarah. She was into it.
And that's when I was going to Vulcan and rending everything.
It was wonderful. Yeah, no, but I did watch everything.

(24:24):
I just don't have everything logged. Going back to my.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Rewatches, Yeah, what else do I have? I've got one
of his Masters of Horror episodes, Pro Life, that I
have not seen. I know, I know, but I'm gonna
I'm going to bang all these out one day.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
This is five Moves, that's true, the Pro Life.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
Yeah, Memoirs of an Invisible Man I have never seen.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
I didn't enjoy it, but that's what I'm going to rewatch. Okay,
Chevy Chase Derek.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
Daryl Hannah Daryl Hannah.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
So and then I saw something else on there that
I'd never heard of, John Carpenter's Suburban Screams, which apparently
he like is somewhat involved in.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
This is from twenty twenty three. Yeah, I do not have.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
That, So I'm gonna have to figure out where to
where to find that one because it's probably I don't
imagine it'll be on legal adjacent but and I'm not
going to shell out money for that's.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
A series or yeah, anology.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
Okay, yeah, it's some kind of series. Like I mentioned
it to Johnny was like, oh, that's his blah blah blah,
like there's he's working on it now. I'm like, no,
it's out, it's on the thing. It's twenty twenty three, so.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
It says it's on Peacock.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
I don't have any streaming. Do you have peacock?

Speaker 2 (25:38):
I don't have Peacock.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
Well I'll find someone with peacock.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Then Sarah might have Peacock. That might be where like
all the below decks and stuff are I don't know
because she watches that stuff.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
All right. Well, see now you can be complete too.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
I like it.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
Carpenter Yeah, I was thinking about trying to finish Toby
Hooper's filmography after we had him for a category on
Horrigas back, because I've only got like that's another one
where I only have like a handful i'd need to
watch and including eggshells like that you watched a couple
of his short films and then just some of the

(26:15):
more recent ones. I know, like there are a couple
of people who watched Night Terrors and did not care
for it very much, so but we love video has it.
So I might try to finish two major horror director
filmographies next year.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
It's a good call.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
But other than that, I mean, I've got about right
as of right now, unless someone you know messages me
about one. I've got about fifty movies that I need
to watch for the book. But then I still have like,
you know, four chapters that I need to finish, like
that have write ups that are movies from the appendix

(26:50):
from the first one that I didn't do write ups for,
but like I don't need to re I might need
to rewatch some of them. So it's not really a resolution.
It's just like I mean, it is finishing their book.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
You gotta making a goal to watch everything.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
So yeah, so I mean overall theme would be like
completion and eaten my vegetables, but like covered in like
the good vegetables, like there's not very many.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Yeah. I feel like that's kind of my diet next
year too, with going to the classics and finishing Bond. Yeah,
and I still I mean I rarely look at the
collections like have you seen that letterbox the Almost and
Completed collections on their all time stats?

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Oh, all time stats?

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Okay, yeah, it'll be you may have seen it. But
it's like you know, every alien film, every Halloween, ant Man,
the Apocalypse collection, like oh, I've.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
Seen all the hell Raiser movies or that is that
on there?

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Because they would be Yeah, I have not seen all this,
so I have I think that might be in my almost.
So what's cool is if I think it's probably for
about twenty five percent away based on how many movies
are in the collection. Yeah, and I think three is
the minimum. I do click on the almost and look
at like what what do I need to what do
I need? Like I have the Black Cobra collection Fred Williamson,
I need to watch one more of those. Oh there

(28:07):
you go, there's the Boogeyman collection. I've never seen what
is it, Boogieman, Return of the Boogeyman. So I look
at that sometimes creature from the Black Lagoon collection. I
got one more to watch. Yeah, so maybe i'll maybe
I'll focus on some of those.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Okay, this isn't right.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
I have watched all the Children of the Corn movies.
Someone give me a gold star for that, please, I've
watched all the Deep Blue Sea movies.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
I have one more Children of the Corn.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
To watch, the latest one.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
Let me see. I don't think the that latest one's
not on it.

Speaker 7 (28:46):
Is it?

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Well, I don't do remakes. This one is Children of
the Corn Runaway.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Oh, I've seen that one.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
It looks like a little Elizabeth Moss girl. Yeah, girl, Okay, yeah.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
This one says there's only ten movies in the Amityville collection,
and so I mean it says I've completed it though,
so I'll take it, I guess.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Yeah. And I don't know how they separate or determine
what's eligible on which is not, Like maybe since it's
public domain or something, they don't include those. I don't
I mean, I don't under Yeah, I don't understand some
of them, but like all the Halloweens, they do have
all the Halloweens even I guess they're all tied together.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Yeah, like the Alien collection, only it says four watch
and then I'm complete on that. I'm like, that's not right. Okay,
what's my almost complete? I'm gonna like, I'm gonna start
getting like OCD about their collections and yeah, so they're
counting shit, So let me just all right, almost complete,
I've got this is a fun stat We should do

(29:42):
this for like next year, and like, say, what do
we have that's almost complete in our when we talk
about our letter? Well, we are talking about it now,
but uh, okay, the twenty eight days weeks years later,
that's not going to happen. Okay, thirty six Chamber of
Shell in I can finish that when I got one
more to do on that U Pumpkinhead.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
I got one more pumpkinhead. Okay, you're probably done with those?

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Uh there's three of them right four? Ooh, maybe I'm
not done.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Do you see it in almost I don't let me
see if you've watched this last one?

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Ooh, I apparently I have two more of the Dracula
Hammer collection movies to watch. Oh more importantly, though, I
need to watch another Crocodile Dundee film in order to
complete that.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Yeah, I got a Spincher. I need the kid one,
the Ace Spincher A junior to complete this one.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
In the line of duty. Uh uh, I know I've
watched all these What the actual fuck? What's in this?
Forbidden Arsenal and Sea Wolves? I've seen these?

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Wait? Have I fuck? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (30:48):
All right, maybe I'll finish that one. Okay, I like
this so yeah, now this gives me. Oh my, this
is gonna make my sense of completion just like adrenaline.
Just shoot through the roof. This is gonna great. Oh
can I got to finish the planet add.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Too, like if you're if you watch too you know
seql or of something that'll pop up but keeps adding
to them live, which is great. Yeah, I just I
started looking at that. But it's interesting, interesting stead or
interesting little feature. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
Wait, one more, I got to look at the plan
of the Apes collection. What do I not have watched here?

Speaker 2 (31:23):
Oh? Battle, I'm complete there, Okay, well.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
I guess I gotta watch Battle. I'm well, I gotta
make John watch it because we have the box set
up there too, so I'm adding that to my list
of resolutions. Finish Battle of the Apes.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Yeah, I have one show Godzilla that I need to watch,
King Kong versus Godzilla. I need to put that one
on there. But yeah, it's it's it's fun, all right.

Speaker 4 (31:51):

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
