(00:02):
Jet setting through the knee on lights from Tokyo to Rios.
Go riding high. The beat drops low.

(00:27):
Number one everywhere he goes late night with stories ball
gold plated and tails untold microphone his mighty sword.
Podcast world he can't ignore. Welcome to the Up in the Clouds

(00:48):
podcast featuring your host Adrian Hustling.
What's up everybody? Welcome back to another episode
of the pod. I'm your host Adrian and I am
currently in Cusco, Peru. First stop for a new country.
It was a long ass travel day allthe way from Cuenca.
Had a 10 hour overnight bus to Piora, Peru, probably saying

(01:10):
that wrong. Long bus ride.
It didn't really sleep much. And then had to hop on a flight
to Lima, slept for like 40 minutes and then another flight
to Cusco, slept another 40 minutes.
So yeah, still catching up on some sleep, but we made it here
safe and sound. Cusco, beautiful city, excited
to explore it, excited to do Machu Picchu and next Friday.

(01:34):
Right now as I'm speaking, it's Sunday, so it's coming up in
just under a week. So super excited for that.
My buddy Luke is coming from back home.
He lands tomorrow with his girlfriend Kelsey.
So excited to see them and explore the city together.
It is alive here in Cusco. They have celebrations going on
all month. I don't know the exact reason I

(01:56):
was told that yesterday on the tour, but of course listening is
not always my biggest strength. But anyways, they've got dances
every day in the main park, parade celebration, so it's a
great time to be here in Peru, especially Cusco.
And yeah, today we have a reallygood interview.
My friend Jordan came on and talked about his experiences in

(02:17):
both Colombia and Ecuador. We actually were traveling the
same path for the last few weeks.
I first saw him in Banyos and then I ran into him in Montanita
and then finally in Quanta. So was able to sit down with him
and share some stories. So he shared some funny stories
from his experiences and I shared some of mine that you
haven't yet heard. So definitely going to be a good

(02:39):
episode. Thanks Jordan for coming on and
make sure to go follow his socials as well.
He's doing some pretty cool things right now, especially on
the video side with YouTube. So as you know, I don't like
talking to myself for too long. So without further ado, let's
head on over to the interview. Goers.
Don't worry, I gotta warm up drill for you.

(03:01):
It's fun, it's fun. Our next guest and I have.
Our next guest and I have been traveling together for the past
three weeks. While unofficially I first saw
this fella in Banyos, he stood out like a sore thumb amongst
the locals with his huge arms and even bigger fro.
Then in Montanita we crossed paths again and this time I
decided to introduce myself as Ifelt like a creepy stalker.

(03:23):
He is now staying at the same hostel here in Cuenca and was
kind enough to come on the pod. The smooth talking weight
pushing Spanish learning contentcreator.
Thank you for having fun. The entry you got there that
about. It it was pretty good.

(03:43):
No, I always laugh cause me and hardware and Daniels and I guess
that you, you definitely stuck out like a sore thumb.
There weren't a lot of tourists there in general, but we're
like, look at this guy. You know, the thing like seems
like America like sure and even like calling me, but most places
I'm pretty like out there because one I'm like a black guy
who's green jackets and like most of the people here are kind

(04:03):
of tight, you know, so. Yeah, Oh yeah.
They're, they're small, man. You don't see any like anyone
that's jacked by any means. Yeah.
So no, it was funny. But anyways, what I usually
always start every podcast with is something called Speed Round
questions. I'm guessing you're not
familiar. That's OK.
I'm going to give you 2 options. You pick the option you like the

(04:23):
best as quick as you can. And this is help with the vocal
cords. This is the vocal form.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Are you ready?
Alright, 9:00 to 5:00 or travel the world.
Banyos or Montanita, early morning workout, early night
sweat, leg day or push day, Surfing pro or newbie beginner.

(04:48):
On me, yeah. You know.
I saw the videos about what would you prefer.
Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that's more what you are.
The same with this one. Fluent in Spanish or fluent in
Spanglish? Funds.
Yeah, techno or reggaeton. Techno.

(05:10):
Tough one. Yeah, get after it or take it
easy. Nice.
Seniorita or Israelian? OHS.
Seniors. Seniors.
Yeah, that's the first one, he said, content creator of Digital
Nomad. Content creator.

(05:31):
OK. It's like and our content very.
Well, there's a couple of trickyones there, right?
I mean you go you go both ways and then be right answer.
But like is that? Well, digital nomads more if you
just work remotely or content creators more based around them.
Video, audio where digital nomadjust like I got a remote job

(05:52):
like an accountant or a teacher,English or some shit.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Well, thanks for coming on,
buddy. And first thing I want to know
is 1, where you from? And two, how the heck did you
end up in Ecuador? OK, So where I'm from, where
I've lived in this stage for thepast eight years, that's what
I'm currently living right now. But originally I was from

(06:15):
Jamaica and spent like the firsthalf of my life there.
How do I end up? I could or well, I know it was
like, I guess like last year, I guess I was kind of just, you
know, I was doing a typical like9:00 to 5:00.
And personally, the company I was, I just like didn't really
like, like I just wasn't really interested in the product that

(06:36):
we're building or anything like that.
And I have all night. So I was like, I kind of moved
away from my family, moved away from all my friends.
So I was kind of like asking myself like, yeah, that's really
it, you know, yeah, I kind of felt like like my souls like
solely dining fool. So that's sort of like doing
some research and like, I like see like people like talking

(06:57):
like how the hell do they do this?
Or like, because I always knew Iwanted to get my God the Lord.
Like my biggest thing was I wanted to have like stories to
tell my grandchildren as like their bedtime stories.
And I was like, what? I wanted to tell stories about
what I'm doing right now, you know, And like, the answer is
no. And I was like, OK, you gotta,
you gotta figure out some type of lawyer to get to tell my

(07:18):
grandchildren, you know, like I want them to be inspired to God
and like live their own lives. I don't like show them like an
example. Like, no, life doesn't just have
to be this thing that people tell you that has to do with you
can literally make like whateveryou want.
Yeah. So, yeah.
So I was do like research and stuff and now I find out our
house was full of cheer. And then just like different

(07:38):
things. And the way I landed on my South
America, I got a wall like Spanish speaking friends right
now, but I never could understand a word with letters
said. He's always felt like it always
felt like it was like a secret group.
Yeah. That they had.
Yeah. And I was like, oh, shit.
I should probably should probably learn.
So that's why I was trying to come to South America.
I had no idea like what backpacking was like.

(08:01):
This was my first ever solo trip.
Doesn't really trip, but outsideof the Caribbean in the States
with Jamison and yeah, you know, kind of just like figuring my
way. Oh, I kind of landed in Colombia
because I heard Colombians had the best Spanish accent and my
goal is to learn Spanish. I thought I'd pick it up along

(08:21):
the way. So yeah, landing Columbia, loved
it so much. I spent three months there.
Didn't really pick up too much Spanish, just like the basics.
So then then I enrolled myself in online Spanish school on
practice for a month. And then after that, that was
like decent and I got pretty good.
And then I was in Montanita. So I'm actually went to Spanish

(08:43):
school in Montanita that that was actually really good.
I'm actually really happy that did.
So you're telling me four monthslater you finally decided to get
classes? Exactly.
You know, it, Cabral was like, Iwas traveling with this dude.
Like he spoke like 4 language. He spoke English, Italian,
Spanish. And it was like, you know, when
you're traveling with somebody who speaks a different language,

(09:06):
speaks like the language, like you think that you learn from
them, but now you just like leaving them as a crutch.
And he's like, yeah, if you're going to be going through South
America, you should probably invest outside.
Yeah, I know. You're right.
Absolutely. Well, that's The thing is I've
been traveling for my buddy halland Spanish is better than mine.
So a lot of times I kind of justlooked at him like a lot.
Exactly. Can you translate?
Can you figure this out? I realize I'm doing it.

(09:27):
And it's actually funny because there's been times he looks at
me, he's like, no, no, I'll figure it out, figure it out.
And had a fair play, right? Like and on this same way, like
I've been traveling five months now and Central South America
and I keep saying like I'm gonnaget Spanish classes, gonna get
Spanish classes. I saw them done it.
You know, the only thing about too is like, you know, my thing
was like, like I had like one ofmy major goals was learning

(09:50):
Spanish and always wanted like, well, I get back.
You know, when I meet my Spanishfriends and I meet their
bellows, they're like, ooh, I like this just because I know,
and I know salsa too. They're gonna love me.
That helps. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So you spent some time in Cali? Exactly.
Yeah, Yeah, those are in Cali Loves Callie.
What to spend like more time in Cali?

(10:11):
Visas expire. Oh, that's right.
Yeah. Yeah.
Because it's under 90 days, right?
Is insane for you is where else?Yeah, yeah, Three months,
though. Columbia.
That is crazy. But I hear that a lot People go
plan to be there for a week or two and they end up being two or
three months. Yeah, no, I think most of the
people I've met in Colombia, we're kind of like running in
circles. You see them in one seat, then
you see them somewhere else, then yeah, I'm still here.

(10:34):
Yeah. Yeah.
And so did you take like so you flew, where did you fly into?
I flew into medicine. Majin OK, that's we started.
Diamond Arginine demonstrating the Santa Marta coast.
I spent like a month in Santa Marta just doing like that
entire like line that was in Palomino.

(10:55):
Hmm. Peronal.
Yeah yeah, OK manga that love manga as well.
Yeah, Diana went down to ban Kiev Carnival, came back up to
the Santa Marta city, then went to Taganga.
Sasori spokeswoman. Quite a while there.

(11:16):
And I really love, like, I was like the sensors that were
absolutely beautiful. Yeah, so and like, warm too, you
know. So I really like it.
Lots of applause for sure. Did you look at Finka Carpe Diem
by chance? No, no, that's.
Right. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, just like outside of Mike.
Yeah, You know, it's funny, likeI should a friend that was
staying there and she kept telling me I was to go because

(11:37):
it was like so far the city. I was like, I don't know, it's
like an hour away from like, so I don't know.
I didn't end up going there. I keep on hearing good things
about it. So if I start to go back, maybe
I'll actually go for nice there. It was unbelievable because I
was coming off of like Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama
party party party. Then I did the sailing trip from
Panama to Cartagena. Then Cartagena was insane party

(11:59):
walls. So by the time I had to make I
was like yo, I need to just chill, relax and do nothing.
And this think of carpe diem 3 pools, the most laid back vibes.
The bar next door like sold weedand shit.
And so you can really just chillon the mountain landscape and it
like one of the three pools. I stayed there for a week.
My boys when did the Lost City track.
I don't know if you did that or not.

(12:21):
And they're like, yeah, we go dothis like multi day hike.
Like yeah, you guys have fun. I'm just gonna switch for a
week. Like airlines.
So nice. Yeah, yeah, I saw the views from
it. It definitely did look good.
It's definitely one of the places in thinking that energy
and like even you talking about like they do with their shop,
Minka is definitely the place togo.
Like I took like shrooms in Mango and like it's like so

(12:44):
intensively make up there just like everywhere, you know?
Yeah. Like you walk like 2 stories
over. It's like, yeah, yeah.
No, it's surprising how accessible it is.
So actually, where were we? I gotta remember now, we were in
Terra staying at a hostel and I just, I won't mention the hostel
and cause I'm about to summarize, it would say I got
shrooms, but we were basically told to go see the fair.

(13:08):
Yeah, this is actually funny. Yeah.
So we were told like, you know, if you want anything like we
need shrooms, whatever they're like go see this ferry.
So I end up getting a contact and reach out some fairy and she
hooked up with these shrooms andshe's like, we got 3 levels,
right? Strongest, medium lowest.
I'm like, well, from getting them, I'm getting strongest,

(13:30):
like, come on. Oh yeah.
So I think I'll like, I don't know, 3-4 grams and we end up
going to take your own park. We actually stayed the night.
So for people listening, Taironas, this beautiful
National Park, a beautiful beaches.
You can camp and spend the nightamazing sunsets.
So we're like, hey, we're gonna stay the night and we're gonna
take these shrooms, right? And we have no idea what we're
getting into. And it's my buddies.

(13:51):
Let's see, first time taking things.
No, I've taken it before, but you never know, like how strong
they're gonna be. OK.
And it was my buddies first time.
OK, right. So sure enough, by the time we
like we're ready to take them, but it was starting to be
sunset, which was like perfect time.
So we each do a gram and we're sitting on there's like a like a
terrace, like a spot where there's hammocks that people can

(14:11):
actually sleep there and we're watching the sunset and they
start taking in. I'm like, holy shit.
I think we're about to go for a ride.
Like I could tell, right? You got like at the end of the
gut rot. What?
Brought you feeling all funny inthe stomach and the bodies all
tingly and stuff, yeah. It's getting a little fuzzy and
it was phenomenal cause a beautiful place to do it and we
literally managed to get down from that platform.

(14:34):
We got to the beach right in front and proceeded to just lay
there for five hours. You know, just that sounds like
a very improved shroom experience.
You know that especially in Tairona, especially in Tyrone,
like Sunset, Tarona, I don't think there are many places
better than that, to be honest. No, it will have to be a smile
on my face the entire time. The beauty is you have the

(14:54):
sunset, which is beautiful, and then all of a sudden you get all
the stars in the sky, right? So that's why we just lay there
like, holy shit, this is amazing.
I would really try to like sit up.
I'd like Nope, Nope, Nope. Back down, yeah.
But it was an incredible experience.
Yeah, no, like you guys are kindof very fitting It like at night
time and though like I think thesunset is like where you wanna

(15:16):
be, but I'll be a little bored while the night time because I
don't know I shouldn't just likeyou're playing the consciousness
and like it can like shift with like how the thing goes, you
know. Like I remember one time I was
doing this like music festival and like when we're playing
like, you know, like psychedelicmusic, they are very high
vibrational was a really, reallygood like you can almost feel
your body game in tune with it. And then like they started like

(15:38):
a some like making the stallion rapping.
I'm like, damn, this sounds kindof evil right now.
Like it was kind of, you know, like the hell is this.
Here's how I guy realized like how like big like like those
like brachial energies are with like body and like the the mind

(15:59):
as the Yeah, no, I don't remember that.
Well the thing for me was like Iwas glad we didn't do during the
day cause Tayrona Park was packed full of people.
Yeah. And if I'm, I'm tripping that
hard, I'm like, I don't need yeah, a bunch of people.
Yeah, you don't like be seen like all those faces.
I'm like. Yeah, there.
There's a guy we met and I just want to share their stories,

(16:21):
their fun stories. People listen to you.
But there's this German guy in that Chris, and he was also a
team owner that night. This fucking guy took 3 grams of
the same shrooms to himself. So he was gone, having his own
thing. Well, all of a sudden we're
lying on the beach, he shows up out of nowhere.
He's got friends. They have come off the shroom
high and we've already started taking 2C, which is like a

(16:42):
polite yeah, yeah, this is insane.
He's sitting down with us and like totally different vibes.
He's so worked up or so hello. And he's like yeah, yeah, guys
was great Trump trick. But you know, like I thought it
was ending so I had to slice of pizza and then like totally
killed it. So then I got some to see and
this guys popping off. I'm like holy shit, dude, like
this is too much, right? Yeah, you gotta go.

(17:03):
But this guy was crazy. Like he told me he's like, man,
I'm just chasing the next high. He's like, give me like whatever
you got, like the most intense shit.
Like I'm going to the I'm like chases.
Yeah, I'm like, you're crazy. Yeah, she's like a very like,
different, like, yeah, energetictype thing.
Yeah. He was on Holly.
I'll go, go. You know your child, like taking
the moment. Yeah.
I'm trying to just chill for boys, like we're having a good

(17:24):
time. And I was like, OK, then yeah, I
feel stiffer vibe. But yeah, that was that was a
good time. I'm curious though, because
there's a couple places I didn'tget to go to because I actually
went down a Patagonia for a few weeks, yeah, instead of
finishing Columbia. So I didn't get to do Palomino,
Palomino and Magician. So I'm curious about those two
spots if you just want to touch on them, maybe if you have any

(17:44):
stories from. Yeah, OK.
Palominos like it's kind of likea hub for a child, but it's like
the, the way I actually ended upthere was I was actually first
volunteering at like the sauce and like I met this French girl,
Iona Iona there and she told me about like this rave going on

(18:05):
in, in Palomino actually. So, you know, I kind of like
worked out. I didn't really need to do the
volunteering shot and it looked pretty early and we we ended up
down to Palomino for the Ray andthe name of the river Bonanza
was at Rio Hostel. Oh yeah, yeah, I was at the

(18:25):
Sunday 1:00. Or, you know, it was like a four
day rate. He's funny story.
Like a four day rate. You got off like a 16 hour bus
ride. Yeah.
From from Medigene. Yeah.
To Palomino. Yeah.
And then like, literally just like drop her stuff off and go
to the rape that night. But here's the thing, like the

(18:47):
other friend who'd been there and he met some dude named
Guillermo who gave him like a passcode, like to put into the
into the website to get like a discount.
Also, it was it was $75 a day. A day.
Exactly. But the the code that you gave,
yeah, got it down to $20 a day. Yeah.
So like wow, yeah, exactly. So we got it for $20 and I was

(19:10):
like, I'm not going to count the$20 like it either.
Like I leave tonight. Like don't go back.
Like actually say yeah. So I decided to stay the entire
four day was and I think throughout those entire four
days I think I slept like 6 hours.
Oh my. God, I just got off like a 16
hour bus. Yeah, night bus.
Wow, so didn't sleep much foot. It was absolutely probably one

(19:34):
of the craziest experiences. I, like, I think that's the
place where I've seen the most amount of like, like, drug use
in my entire life. And I'm like, I saw like,
everything under something. Yeah, I saw like, funny story, I
got this girl and and this is like the very last day.

(19:54):
It's like 6:00 AM and she's telling me that she has a like a
meeting with her professor at 8:00 AM right on.
Like somewhere in Europe, it's like an hour referred to a
meeting. And I'm watching her take bumps
of cocaine. I'm like.
Oh. Like like what?

(20:16):
I was like feeling this shit. But like, it was just like the
energy of the thing, you know? And but it was like really fun,
though, not gonna lie. It was really fun.
Personally, I didn't really do, like, any of that.
So it's like it got to the pointwhere it's like, I was there and
it was like 6-7 the last day. And like, one of my friends I
met there, they counted. Like, dude, how the hell are you

(20:39):
still standing? Just seriously.
Yeah, yeah. It's like, what do you mean?
I'm like, dude, you know, all these people are on drugs,
right? Yeah, yeah.
You're sober. Like, what are you doing?
Oh shit, you're right. I guess it's just like that
energy, you know, kind of like feed off other people's energy.
But yeah, not like most of them are like zombies by that point
though to be. Honest, I can only and I will

(21:01):
lots of thing right is there that's the only way you keep
going. So for you to be able to do it
without, yeah, that's that's crazy.
Let me tell you, when I got home, I when I got home and I
laid down, I couldn't get on my feet for like the next 8 hours,
I swear. But anyways, yeah, so, well, and
I, I heard a lot of stories where you're actually there's a

(21:22):
wizard there similar to the ferry.
The wizard. Yeah, I know about the wizard as
well. So my two friends that did the
Lost City track, they went to Rio for the party on the Sunday
because every Sunday they have amassive party.
But that's when I was going downthe party going because at that
point I was like, I'm good with the parties.
I need to go like do some hikingand some healthy shit.
So I ended up avoiding manhole thing.

(21:44):
But I heard, I heard some stories for sure.
But what about medium? Like what was your experience
there? Football game or?
That was actually my biggest regrets, like my time and
calling me because I was in bothCali and I was in medicine and
never went to a single football match.
Wow, match. No way.
Exactly and like. Every single time I think back

(22:06):
and I'm like how did I miss that?
But and I guess the summer happened, but I would want to go
because they do a really fun like that, the atmosphere there.
Yeah. It's like the type of thing
where it's like if you're in Medigene, yeah, you hear the
stable OHS from wherever you arein managing.
Cause the whole cities there right?
Exactly. Excuse me, even tally on the

(22:29):
much smaller scale. I went to a Derby game so it was
two teams from Cali playing eachother and the atmosphere was
insane. Like such a good time.
Yeah, that's one of my big issue, I guess.
Yeah. What else did you end up doing
out there? They're like, yeah, yeah.
I get honest like in managing, Idon't do like too much because
managing like the very first place I got to, I guess it was

(22:50):
like my very first album like solar traveling.
So managing those kind of like catching my bearing.
Dollars, you know, I saw, yeah. True.
Like learning like, you know, OK, how does like hostel life
work? Yeah, getting around and all
that. How long how long did it take
you to like because I know when I this is my first backpacking
trip to so when I started in Nicaragua.

(23:11):
Luckily I had my friend with me the 1st 9 days and I found it
was after like 2 weeks. I was like OK I kind of like
have it figured out like uncomfortable.
How long was it for you before you got?
It the. Same.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, well, two weeks and then
like around like being like a week and a half.
I was like, I don't need to be here for that long, you know?

(23:32):
Yeah, that was kind of just likespending also because like I've
always been like very big in tagnature, like messages like this.
I've been city yeah, when I first left like Mediterranean
lentil Hardin, like hurting likea lot like a nature.
Yeah. I was like this, this is
actually what I came for. And then I was like, you know, I

(23:53):
started like branching out more.I was taking like the bus.
I was learning how all that would yeah, like all that type
of stuff. So then by then, by the time
like I did Rd. event came back, I spent like a week there.
By that time I was like, OK, I'mlike freaking good.
Nah, feel comfortable, like, youknow, taking the bus, like

(24:13):
nothing went like terribly wrong.
Yeah. Well, it's almost easier in
those smaller towns, too low to be able to get your bearings and
figure it out rather than the big city because yeah, people
are more helpful it there's justless like options or going on.
So it's like there's one bus terminal.
It's easy to figure out where you go or you're in the big
city. You're like, holy crap, like
where am I? Where do I go?

(24:34):
Like, yeah. And they're also, there's also
like, so I'm not sure, um, I getall these like other like side
quests you do. Yeah.
I think one of the main things it's like world traveling is you
don't have to do Everything Everywhere, you know?
Yeah, yeah, I think that that was one of my biggest lessons
I've learned all the traveling and like not having this, like

(24:55):
this phone will mentality if youdo this, you know, I'm saying.
Yeah, yeah, I'm fine with that. Now I don't have the phone
anymore. If I'm not feeling it, I'm like,
I ain't doing that because I forced it a couple times and
it's never never good experience.
But I know we don't have too much time left.
But I didn't want to talk about banyos because that's where I
first saw you. And I just want to hear about
your experience because I personally loved it.

(25:16):
I was going to stay there a few days, ended up staying a week.
Hey, same. Here.
Yeah, there we go. Exactly.
Yeah, this is like all this likeoutdoor nature stuff and I got a
volcano you all these mountains that seem like the valley in
between all of the so like some epic scenery epicerie.
I just like the bike on the biketour, like a couple of friends

(25:38):
that man like a awesome like we biked.
What's it called? Cascada del Mundo.
Yeah, Bite Cascada Mundo. El Diablo.
No. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The album, yeah. So by there, you know that was
beautiful. You're talking pedal bike.

(25:59):
Yeah, so you did the hard way. I just took the ATV, right,
Right. Yeah, I mean, you know, to be
honest, there was like a lot uphill.
There's a lot more uphill than we expected, but I kind of
really liked I have scenery and just like biking through because
like we're going through all these like whole pass that was
like kind of carbon inside the mountain.

(26:20):
So you can be like see like the river running through it all.
And then like, I think like halfway through, I saw like the
big bungee jumping bungee jump before, and I was like, let's
bungee jump. You did it.
Yeah. Wow.
No way. OK.
Nobody else wanted to do it, butlike I was like, this has been
on this for awhile. Hell yeah.

(26:41):
So I did that. That was a good one.
Like adrenaline rush that. How was it like, you know how
big the drop was or? I don't know how big it like or
how far down it was or what I can tell you like looking down,
you know, I felt, I felt alive. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. I felt alive looking down.

(27:02):
I was like, oh, it's one of those things where it's like,
you know, you get to the edge and then you look and then like,
yeah, they want to do this. Yeah.
I was like, yeah, we're doing, you know, But yeah, I'm really
happy I did that. Yeah, I'm really happy I did
that. I think that one kind of like
teaches a lot, you know, like scared us just before you do it.
It was like the same one like I quit my job and you get like the

(27:24):
same thing. Like I was looking like the
e-mail fucking good. Like 5 minutes before pressing
send and I'm like looking down. I was like, I don't wanna do it
was the same exact feeling. Yeah.
You know, I was like kind of like seeing that theme in there.
I was like, come on. All right.
Kind of like learning a little lessons about life.
Y'all definitely, definitely, especially when you're mid air.

(27:44):
So I did the bungee action in Costa Rica.
And the Monteverde is that the one like does the longest one.
Yeah, yeah, that's the biggest one.
That's why I did it. It was like way more expensive,
but it was like, fuck, I'm goingbig and I'm afraid of heights.
But his bucket will stadium. Yeah.
And like, you can see the GoPro video and I'm walking to the
ledge and my legs are just shaking uncontrollably.

(28:06):
And the scariest part for me wasn't even like the jumper
being in the air is actually when they were pulling me back
up. Is there pulling me back up and
I'm just suspended in mid air. And then you have time now
actually look around and like, realize where you are.
And I'm like, oh, shit. I'm like please don't drop me
please. So you know, I was actually the
opposite like once like I was like mid air and like you get it

(28:28):
was like true to like 5 seconds of like the first like 2 seconds
are like ah, but that's like once you only get like you used
to being like you're like, holy shit, this actually feels good,
you know yeah, but then like ones like I will not land, I
guess, but like stopped like yeah, celebrating.

(28:48):
No, that's kind of like holy shit.
And I had my phone like I had out the entire.
Time in my hand. That's Brazil.
Yeah, no, because even before I was like I gonna do this like
I'm not I'm sure if I like hang on to this that day, but I was
really happy that I actually gotthat like video because that
actually turned out. Done real well monkey 'cause

(29:10):
they had built pros. I had one of my wrists that they
had and then someone else's GoPro going behind me and people
were commenting there cause likeI did the drop and then right
off the drop while I'm still like flying in the air.
I started doing A and new apps on the podcast just released.
Make sure to check it out and people like how are you talking?
While volley crazy, that is actually insane.

(29:35):
Yeah, yeah. No, that was, that's actually
impressive. How are you forming sentences
right? I was like, I don't know how the
fuck going. On my way out I was like I was
streaming. Did you do the rafting at all?
No, that's actually many things I wanted to do, but yeah, yeah.

(29:57):
Yeah, did you? Yeah, yeah, we did.
So we did it. There's one day was like
torrential downpour and we did it the next day.
So the river was super high, made the waves bigger and it was
phenomenal. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like such a good time and cheat too.
It was only 30 bucks, right for the day.
And yeah, I couldn't recommend it enough.
I kind of wanted to go again. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we did.

(30:18):
We did the rafting, we got the ATV's for the day, the
waterfalls. So we did Diablo, which is sick.
That's like the main one. But we also went to the one
pass, go swimming. I don't know if you've got to
that one or not. But we didn't get to that one
because like, by the time we gotthere, it was like pretty late.
My fault, to be honest. You know, like I kind of
stopped. All the Bungie.

(30:39):
Yeah, like that was also at filming that day too, so I can
like shots of I guess so my senior yourself, but the groups
are like Muslim feel like they're pretty child now a guy.
Fair enough, fair enough. It was good that.
We wanted to do the canyoning. What the day we decided to do
that again, it was pouring rain were like honestly, no, we'll
just get it. And then the other nice thing
was the cheap massages. There we went got massage and it

(31:02):
was felt. Did you have areas?
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah 20 bucks for an hour.
I was like this is amazing. Exactly Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So I didn't what are you, Chad GBT?
Like what to do in Banya was that's why I think it's like top
three. Yeah, yeah, especially on a
rainy day. But you're using your travel
planner as well. Yeah, I I've never used it

(31:22):
before this trip like I'm a bit older, but like you guys are so
young and they use it for everything right they're like
chat you BT how do I do this or like what should I do today and
I'm like alright, it's new to me, but.
I've been, I've been using it all as well, like kind of just
like for ideas of bike festival in places like.
Yeah, not even just like, like based on what you're interested

(31:42):
in, you know? Yeah.
Like for example, I was in Colombia, I saw the other news
report that they they recovered this board.
Yeah, right. That's like floating around.
Yeah. I'm like I tip a detour and I
was like, alright, I'm looking for like a common places whether
UFO sightings and stuff like that.
Really. Yeah.

(32:04):
Autobahn was like talking to a whole bunch of locals about like
legends about sky people. Really.
Oh shit. OK.
Yeah. So like, I kind of like use it
for that time, yeah. That's a different experience.
Did you make it to Leprechaun Club?
Leprechaun club, yeah. Oh yeah, yeah.

(32:27):
Yeah, well, I went there like the first night, but not like
the most active night. OK.
Yeah, I didn't go in the most active night because, you know,
bonuses like I spent like a lot of the days doing a whole bunch
of outdoor stuff. And I remember I think it was
really the either Saturday, I think, yeah, Saturday was like
going into the biggest nights. But like that day that will be

(32:47):
they want the cycling like, yeah, I was like dad, like I
think I went out for like an hour and I was lucky and I'm
falling asleep and I was like, yeah, it's time to go to bed.
So it's fair that that place wascrazy, but the first day we got
in happened to be Saturday, and that's the busiest night for the
club. And we got told, hey, Leprechaun
club, go check it out. We're like, you know what, let's

(33:09):
let's go check it out. And it was an unbelievable
night, man. Yeah, it was.
It's not it doesn't look great. Did it would bring out like the
fire? Yeah, yeah.
They had a little fire show. Yeah, yeah, have as funny as
shit as they have the fire pit there, like right by the main
dance floor. So if you go to the club the
next day, all your clothes that you want with just ones like
fireplace. And it was driving my buddy nuts
because we end up going there I think two or three nights and

(33:31):
he's like, oh, my fucking clothes smell like fireplace.
I'm like, it's not that bad driving him nuts.
I don't know why, but it was really good vibes there, like
really fun, good music. They had like multiple floors
you could go to. Yeah, I remember that.
Yeah. They have like like the the
Techno 4. Then they have the even the even
work at home for now and obviously have like the salsa.

(33:54):
Yeah, this also, but I I had wonthe last time you went there.
I had like, I guess bad experience because we weren't
even go out. I was actually sick.
So I told my buddy, let's just go out and get a pizza and come
back and just chill. And so we're out and the vibes
were high in the town because Saturday and was like, oh shit.
And I started feeling a bit better, I think just because of

(34:16):
that. So like, OK, let's get one beer.
So we get one beer. And even after beer, I'm like,
yeah, OK, let's just get the pizza.
Let's just call it The Walking. You have pizza and this girl
calls and. So I knew it was gonna go this
way. And it was a girl that we met
previously. She was doing the Spanish
classes. So they actually had Spanish
lessons at one of the rooftop bars.

(34:37):
Yeah. So anyways, this is where we
met. It was like, hey, what's your
plan for tonight? League with a couple of friends,
like other tourists. But she was a local.
And we were just like, yeah, really going to get pizza in
Lincoln. And I like, we're not going out
tonight. I'm like, oh, come on.
Like, we're going to this bar. Like, we get a free welcome
drink. Like you want to just come hang
on and like I and so bad at saying no, right?

(35:00):
So I'm, I look at my body and go, wow, wouldn't hurt to just
go for one. He's looking at me like, dude,
you're sick as fuck. Like what are you doing?
And I'm like, I don't know. Like.
I can't make any bad decisions, but so we end up getting that
drink and then we ended up backing up.
But this freaking girl, man, we would be hanging out with the
group. And the first time I ended up

(35:22):
ordering a rum and coke and she's like, can you order a
second one for my friends? And I'm like, what?
I'm like, OK, whatever, like home place it.
Well, yeah, so I'm like, OK, whatever.
Like I'll buy one more and then later on in the night we're
downstairs and she goes to the bar because I guess she knows
the people ends up borrowing 3 beers.
Well the one guy we're with paysfor his beer and all the sudden

(35:42):
she pulls me over and says hey like I ordered a couple beers
like do you got money? And I'm like what the fuck?
I'm like I don't want these beers like I don't want to pay
for these. So anyway somehow ended up
paying for them and then it was like near the end of the night
is OK I need to leave like I'm done.
My buddy was like dance have a good time I hate you I'm going
to take off. But the problem is when I got
there, I did coach check and I did it like she had a coat, I

(36:03):
was sweater and so she put it inthe bar.
So I want to go to the bar and say, hey, can I get a sweater?
And then I know you need the seniorita to get it for you.
And I'm like oh fuck sakes because I bought it off of this
point. So I go together and I'm like
hey, like I just need my jacket. So together like I'm done
actually I've been looking for you blah blah blah blah.
And like grabs my hand and like literally leads me downstairs

(36:24):
and I'm thinking she's going to take me to the party at my coat,
no fucking other direction, straight to the bar, orders 2
beers. I'm like, are you kidding me?
So at this point I'm like yo, I'm I don't want the beers.
Like I'm telling the bartender Idon't want the beers.
I'm not paying for these. And asses back is turned.
She grabs the beers, grabs my hand starts taking off like
trying to get away with the beers and see the bartender

(36:44):
teasing us and I'm like what is happening right now?
So all of a sudden it's me, her security guard bartender.
I'm trying to explain them guys I don't want these beers.
I didn't know them like I'm not paying for them.
So I go to the bar where my jacket is and I'm pissed at this
point. I'm like just give me my
sweater. Like it's my sweater.
I can explain it to you like I need to get out of here.
She ends up catching up and luckily does get my sweater but

(37:06):
the bartender still saying he was like yo you owe me 8 bucks.
I'm like Jesus Christ. And they take the fucking money
I'm out of here. And so I go to leave and she
grabs my wrist. She's like hey, like your beard
beard. And I just yell and I'm like,
don't want the fucking beer. I've told you that night I just,
like, stormed out. There's a leprechaun.
Is like, yeah, this isn't lockerChan.
It was such a gong show mine. So yeah.
So, yeah, So what? We have done everything.

(37:28):
We had a couple of fun nights there, but just that last night
I was like. Yeah, and then and I gotta watch
out for something like that, youknow, like, yeah, she she
definitely had done that before.Ohhhhh yeah.
She that she does not have the weekend.
Yeah. I was like, holy crap.
So yeah. Yeah, but, but other than that,
Banuelos, amazing, amazing time,amazing place.
I wish it did a couple more activities, but that was a lot

(37:51):
of fun. You know this goes all back to
this fear of missing out. Yeah, I know.
I don't know. Well, for, for me, it's like,
you know, when you look at travel and let's say you have
the option of like staying and having a quiet night or an early
night, or you have the option ofgoing out, whether it's like

(38:11):
doing a fun activity, going the bar, whatever.
Yeah, always in my head, I'm like, dude, you're traveling
like you're here, like you've been planning this for five
years. You're really just gonna go to
bed or are you just gonna go andhave a good time?
Like, so that's what always unfortunately pulls me in
because I'm like, man, I'm goingto look like if I look back at
this trip later on and be like, yeah, I know.
I just always went to bed early and like just did some things

(38:32):
during the day. But you know, I mean, it's like.
Yeah, I mean, like I can tell. I can, I can understand that.
But me, like the thing with me is like, like I, I don't like
really drink that much. I don't really do any of that.
So for me, it's like I really dohave to like feel the energy in

(38:52):
because like my thing is like I might only drink, but I think by
good if the music is good and I'm like dancing, I'm probably
having more fun than everyone else seems like drinking.
So my thing is like if I'm like generally tired and like, you
know, like my feet are hurting and I know personally I'm not
gonna measuring it. I'm kind of like it.
I'm probably just gonna be there.

(39:13):
I was going to be tired, you know, and yeah, I'm probably
gonna be like, you know, everybody else is gonna feel
that my energy is low, you know.So like, if I'm going out, you
know, I'm going out full of energy because like, by the end
of the night, my shirt is gonna be drenched.
I'm gonna be dancing all night. Yeah.
So for me, it's like, I know. I know how it looks.
So it's like, if, if I know I don't have like energies for

(39:36):
I'll just, I was caught and I and, and like a person, I'm kind
of like, kind of like like waking up like a little bit
earlier than everybody else, to be honest.
You know, I mean, early morningsand I keep my journal.
I kind of write out like what I want to do and stuff like that.
Yeah. But yeah.
I like that though, and I I needto do that and I want to do that
because like, like I said, the first five months, my trip for

(39:58):
the most part like, and you knowhow it is like hostile life and
the nightly tips, A lot of it's geared towards drinking, right?
Don't get me wrong, I love to have some drinks.
The time when it gets to a certain point where you're like,
OK, now it's like, like you said, I'd like to just like not
drink as much. I can get up early, start my day
off right. Like accomplish something like
especially if you wake up early, let's say it'll work out or

(40:18):
something right away already like, you know what good start
of the day or something. I got a whole day ahead of me
rather than like you have an idea.
And now you're sleeping till ten, 11:00 for me today it was
like 12, right? And you wake up and go, Oh my
God, like, really like, So yeah,it's, it's something I want to,
I want to do more moving forwardfor sure.
You know, I think it's momentum, you know, like even like when

(40:42):
like you like starting anything, you know like everything that
kind of unclear and like ah, I'mgonna get this done like like
this video that I was working onyeah.
You know when you first started like I don't even know how I'm
like structure this, but you know, you do like 1 little
segment, you know, like DSR coming, you get momentum.
The same thing with a day. You know, you wake up, you get
one thing done like OK, alright,we feel good, I feel good blah

(41:03):
blah. You know, you get out your son
on your eyeballs, all that, Yeah.
Get that. Get that espresso shot in you.
Yeah, yes, yeah. Well, I want to, I want to thank
you for your time. And what I'd like to do now is
just open up the platform to you.
If you want to talk about maybe the videos you've been making,

(41:23):
some of the stuff you've been working on.
You can mention your YouTube channel or your Instagram,
whatever you want people to findyou.
I've never really done somethinglike.
This so it's all good man. Yeah, I know.
I make content. It's Jordan Wisdom, Gerald
RDAINDWSDOM and I make travel videos kind of just like

(41:47):
documenting my experiences and find my fitness stuff in there
as well. I was a Genvoya before, still
right? Now.
Yeah, actually right now I'm also working on YouTube.
I've been like going, I really like YouTube, like the longer
for my more storytelling videos and I feel like these will be

(42:07):
more valuable when I'm like 8 years old looking back on this.
So I've been making this. So if you want to check that
out, that's also at Jording Wisdom on YouTube.
There you go and I've seen the videos and they're actually
really good. So definitely go check it out
and they're cool and the cool thing is like people listen to
pod. They've heard about the places
I've been in some of the storiesand it's actually be able to see
it on video because. Yeah, because we've actually

(42:28):
been so good. Exactly.
Yeah, No, I mean bonus as well and that would make more for
Montanita and like yours maybe. I'm not sure.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure if I got like any
young video, but like you're like we overlap.
So yeah, you'd have gotten like something similar experience.
There, but that's where it's cool because like, I don't have

(42:49):
I'm just the audio, not the video.
So they can go to your YouTube, watch some of the videos and
then be like, OK, like I have anidea of what this place was
like. No, I actually get to see it,
which is really cool. Even when I talk about months
anisi both for a quick summary Montanita very a lot of energy
news we're all set and have changed all of.
Energy. Montanita about some of those

(43:11):
places where, you know, you kindof get sucked in like a three
weeks, he'll feel like like 3 days.
You know, they doing that, they realize that time goes by.
But yeah, if you want to find out more about it, what it's
like if I got my YouTube, the video should be out by whenever
this comes. Out.
Yeah. I mean, he's been working on
that for five days now, so hopefully it'll be done soon.

(43:33):
Yeah, I love that man, actually.I guess last question then we'll
shut her down is what's the planfor the future?
Like where are you planning on going next and how long you
travel? Time for the suture, actually,
you know, um, like, I'm definitely going to keep on
doing South America. Like, like I said, I'm gonna
finish set. I'm gonna do the rest of it, you

(43:56):
know, And then I'm probably going to be in Brazil.
Like that's probably the last place in South America.
Yeah. But personally though, like, I'm
like, I'm like a maker of heart.Like when I was in college, I
don't have personal projects. And then I think like the one
thing that keeps them like calling me back like and like
all the times I get bored like Istill watch people like making

(44:19):
videos power. I find it continued traveling
for at least a year, but it's giving me clarity that like, I
still like, like not well enoughlife and I want to go back into
it. So I think I would be surprised
if then a year from now I've seen myself like going back into
that. So, yeah, yeah.

(44:41):
All of that. OK, Well, thanks again.
I really do appreciate it. Cause I know we've been working
on the video, but you gave us your time.
So yeah, thanks for coming. You having me?
Absolutely. That's it for today's episode.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
