Try just 7 through the knee on lights from Tokyo to Rios.
Go riding high, the beat drops low.

(00:27):
Number one. Everywhere he goes.
Late night with stories bold gold plated entails untold
microphone his mighty. Sword.
Podcast world he can't ignore. Welcome to the Up in the Clouds

(00:48):
podcast featuring your host Adrian Hustling.
What's up, everybody? Welcome back to another episode
of the Up in the Clouds podcast.I'm your host Adrian.
Hope you all had a great weekend.
It is being absolutely beautifulover here in Sydney, Australia.
Summer is coming for everyone listening from North America or

(01:11):
even Europe. We got opposite season.
So you guys are getting your summer.
You're heading into fall, into winter, into the cold weather,
and we're heading into summer. We're heading into eight months
of pure joy and bliss. So yeah, you know, just make you
a little almost there. But anyways, life get over here.
Uh, hopefully find some work in the next week or two.
Still working on that. It's been about a month since

(01:32):
I've been down here, so should probably start making some money
because you know, I don't want to run out again.
I got no more cars to sell. But anyways, we don't need, we
don't need to worry about that for now.
We got a great interview today. I actually had Cat come on and
talk about her experience in Australia, some of the places
she's been, some of the things she's done and highlighted her,

(01:53):
her time here in Coogee Beach, Sydney, Australia.
You spent a lot of time here. She was at the hostel for 10
months. That is, that is a long time to
be at a hostel. So local legend Cat, thank you
so much for coming on. It's a really good interview.
This one's kind of a kind of a fun one, pretty relaxed because
we were both pretty hungover that day.
So we were just lying out on thepatio out in the yoga match,

(02:14):
just having a nice little conversation.
And yeah, she's quite the yapper, so it's quite easy for
me. I just throw in the odd question
and she just take off. So.
So that was really awesome. But yeah, no other updates
really for now. I'm still in the same place and
still trying to figure out that Aussie lifestyle.
Haven't actually met too many Australians though, so I'm

(02:34):
hoping to change that soon. But yeah, we'll see what happens
here in the coming weeks. But hopefully I will soon have a
job, get my own place and that won't be living the dream.
So anyways, thanks for tuning inagain and without further ado,
let's head on over to the interview.
Alright everybody. Welcome back to another episode.

(02:58):
This one's going to be a little different because I'm hungover
as fuck. So I'm horizontal right now
sitting here with Miguel Cat. She's a bit of a local legend
being in the hostel for fucking,I don't even know how many
years. So we're just going to, we're
going to lay down today. We're just going to have a
little chit chat combo and she'sgoing to share some stories and

(03:19):
some insights from her experiences in Australia and
probably specifically Coogee. So she never left but.
Yeah. Welcome.
Welcome to the park. Thanks for coming.
Yeah, hey, yeah, like why the fuck no, like it seems like a
good idea, but yeah, what do we talk about?
I just wonder if I say I did actually leave Koji for about a

(03:39):
month since January. So I did a little like road trip
up to Brisbane, so that is a thing.
But I have also traveled all of Australia, so yeah, I know Kijik
really going well. But.
Well, what I want to start with is where were you coming from,
when did you get here, and why did you come?
OK, so I I'm from London, if youcan't tell by my accent.

(04:04):
Well, I got here on. What is it I don't I get here?
This is a good point. I go into Australia on the 26th
of November. Um, so I'm actually on my third
year working holiday visa and I even see you guys, which is
really helps out. But yeah, like I bought a car in
Perth and then I traveled the South Coast and decided that I

(04:25):
wanted to leave England and essentially I like try and build
a life out here. And then you plot twists haven't
happened. I'm heading to New Zealand on
Sundays. So yeah, we talked about.
That. Well, we can talk about that
because I keep forgetting that museum and getting even exist.
Everyone asked me, are you goingto New Zealand?
And I go, Oh yeah, she probably figured that one out.
But OK, fair enough. And how many years does it mean

(04:47):
though? I did my first and second year
like 8 years ago, so I was like really, really young, was like
22, just kind of like not reallyknowing what I wanted to do.
I had a bit of a gap year after uni and now I'm on my third
year. So it's crazy about 10 year like
process from like kind of planning when I was 21 to kind

(05:08):
of like now deciding to go to the site next chapter.
But yeah like on and off for like 3 years out of the last 10
has been spent in August. And The Inbetweeners, which
revolves. So yeah, pretty long.
That is a long time now, as longtime now.
Coogee Beach for everyone listening, that's where I be
posted up the last few weeks. Why don't you tell people a
little bit about Coogee, maybe if you have any stories from

(05:29):
your experience and time here, whether it's at the hospital, at
the beach, maybe fond memories. OK, so I kind of actually
accidentally ended up because there's times I originally was
like living in manly when I was um, on my first and 2nd gear
like on my Sydney. That's all I wanted a bit of a
change just because there was a lot of old faces I had and I

(05:49):
just felt like it would have changed.
But like kiddie, um, I just saw the hostel.
It had a really, really nice like bedding and I was just
like, this seems like a really good place and just kind of
thought I was going to stay herefor a couple of weeks went up to
Newcastle for a few days came back, just realized that this
place is home like a start building up community.
So I joined a run club called Kings Cross Track Club, so big

(06:12):
shout out to Ben and Voltron from that.
And then that slowly progressed into like going to the Coochie
Run Club because I cannot be asked to head over to.
Darlinghurst, which is like an hour away and.
For my Tuesday 630 runs or my like morning runs.
So yeah, like what do you want to know?
Interesting fact. Could you actually mean stinky
place? So it's about so that's like the

(06:35):
first thing you need to know is like could you actually means
like stinky place and it's. But it doesn't stink.
Like all the seaweed on the flight floor, like of the of the
beat. I'm really really.
I've also hung over by the way, say I'm really not talking about
this way, but like, you know, stuff like that is like kind of
washes off and Coogee apparentlythat really stunk to like the

(06:57):
local Phoenix pool. So yeah, like just of again,
respect the traditional custodians offers that.
So, yeah, apparently sunk. That's how why could you get his
name? That is that's the first
interesting part. Second interesting fact is that,
yeah, I've spent way too long. Like but it it's easy, right?
Like sorry. It's comfortable here, like it's

(07:19):
a nice little area. You'll buy the beach, you're out
of the city. I'm not a city guy.
I don't want to be in all the noise and all the traffic.
And the hostel itself is super comfortable too like you said,
like nice beds, nice bedding, you got privacy curtains.
I'm in A4 bed dorm. It's a prime time and you know
tons of common space kitchens are just good vibes.
Yeah, like an essentially, like no one can really see this

(07:40):
because there's nobody here, butlike we're on this like really
cool, like private terrace. So like it was what are these
hospitals as well? Is that you can hang out with
people, but you literally like can have your own space.
Um, when I was staying here likein the summer, like say from
like January until like May, when I was like first here with
the massive thing, there was a whole lot of people and I'm.
So sorry for everyone on the first floor.

(08:02):
That we just didn't know. Like the hostel for like 2
different hostels, you're eitherfirst person or third floor
person. Yeah, it's true.
Though. He's so true.
It is like, but it was quite funny.
It's like one of my friends is Pops and she was a first
organic, but we never knew that was a fast Bugatti because she
was always on that. OK.
So it was like really, really interesting.
Like how that kind of like dynamic happened.

(08:24):
Like you would just like look down at the first floor.
I'd be like. Well, and for people listening,
like obviously you can't see this is non video.
Yeah, we'll get the YouTube fired up here shortly, but we
basically have the third floor of the first floor.
Each one has its own kitchen common area.
And it's funny because it's sucha small place, but yet if you're
on the 3rd floor, you just stay on the 3rd floor.

(08:45):
And if you're on the 1st floor, you just stay on the 1st floor.
You don't tend to intermingle orswitch it up, which is pretty
funny. You get quite set in your ways.
Yeah, and it's so true. But like honestly though, like
my friends, I would say, like out of everyone I've met in
Sydney, like hands down my best friends and the people I'm gonna
miss the most are all the peopleI met under their floor.
Like I had initially when I camehere, I had a few incidences

(09:08):
we're not going to talk about, like the reasons why I cracked
my head open because that's justlike.
That really like the people who know who know?
Why my head open and that I had a few incidences and then I
finally got in. I went to Newcastle and then
came back with a broken tag and then I ended up staying in his
room for 303 and I vaguely knew this girl Alice and this girl

(09:29):
here like intermingling. But those two girls became like
some of my closest friends so big shout out and our friend
George who was just like there but.
What are English name A George? George.
That was that was yeah, George, George, George Nixon and George
Brownville, both of them from Coventry.
Big George and Little George. Little George was the younger 1

(09:51):
so we got him the. Baby.
Like little George. George, if you're hearing this
as well, I miss you, man. You literally like my drone.
But like little George, like he's always just coming to like
mine and Alice's and tears room and like, but always have
bedtime stories. Like it was so cute and like we
just I think honestly, I had thebest time.

(10:13):
Like like it was just like perfect.
I always thought myself like if I ever settled, and I really
hope I do get settled back here at some point later in my life.
But like this place, it just seems like the energy and
everything, you're just so perfect.
Like everything I need is right in the door.
You've got Woolies, you've got CBH, PCH.

(10:34):
What OHT could be very hotel. Because your HHH.
Well, so I had a big, I had a Big Lake moment on social media
after I went out that night and I spent like $220 on like 6
beers and I said I'm not drinking anymore.
I'm going three months sober. Yeah, that lasted about four

(10:55):
days. So.
I feel like that literally I waslike, I need to go sober.
Probably will try in New Zealand.
They're like I sometimes you. Just I don't, I feel like New
Zealand. You could though.
For some reason I feel like New Zealand would be much more like
active and outdoorsy. Yeah, but I feel like Australia
is though. And that's the thing you say is
like, I don't think I actually feel like I missed out.

(11:16):
Like there's been definitely days.
Like right now I'm feeling like a fucking piece of shit and I
probably should do my packing, but like, I don't feel like I've
really like missed out. Like you're like, I'm still a
bit of a party girl. I like in my 30s, but also I
still woke up and I had a routine like I would run three
or four times a week. Um, I would go for sunrise,

(11:36):
which again, like a bit of a plug to could you run club?
The run deposit culture is 6:15 in the morning.
You run up to like Brandy, whichis like like a couple of beaches
down and watch the sunrise. And that was so cool.
And like the then swim in the ocean after and then get coffee
at morning. So like, that was such a big.

(11:56):
It sounds epic, but good luck atme up that early for.
Oh my God. Not gonna, not gonna happen.
He's only saying, I think that'sthe other thing is like again,
when you're staying in like 1 place because I again, when is
it to be home for such a long time.
There is that element of discipline and having like
especially with ADHD instead of having that external motivator

(12:17):
for like getting up and seeing stuff because it's so easy to
get into a hole and get into a bubble.
Like I've had my best times in Australia here, like was like
equally have my worst times in Australia here and that's
something like. Like people don't really talk
about when they move to Australia, how much it affects
you as well, like and like say for example, now I'm having a
redirection. It's not worked out the way it

(12:37):
has, but you go through the motions and like it's only like
with these. People and the long time travel
they are to really understand that.
The funny thing is my my friend, before I started traveling, he
got mentioning the highs and lows.
He's like, it's the highs and lows.
I was like, what is this guy going on about?
But now I fully understand what he meant.
I don't know if you're comfortable talking about it,
but would you be comfortable sharing some of the lows?

(12:58):
Like because people always sharethe highs, but it's good to see
the other side of things. So I think there's been a lot of
things like in my like, what is it like on and off for three
years. There's been some incidences
that like I've had, but like I say.
Going from the most recent. Experience the lows have been
really from me is trying to finda job and no one really talks

(13:19):
about it and it's all like all now on social media like people
finding a marketing job in Sydney and stuff like that.
And I tried like I was interviewing 3 or 4 times a
week. I was doing like treating my job
on like on Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00 and I was
interviewing 3 * a week. So that was really, really hard
to keep him constantly going when you're seeing your friends
succeed. Like I've got some of my best

(13:40):
friends are also in marketing. They've got like, not so got it
easy, but they've got a job now.But like you don't really
experience that. Like that's one of the letters.
And the other thing is there's alot of like, like.
Test and learn and kind of like growing pains as well that
you're gonna go through. Because you're learning a bit
more about yourself like when I was 22 and like getting out of
toxic jobs or when I some accidentally is it My friend

(14:05):
from Farnworth accidentally liberated a bunch of.
Malaysians, this is a really funny story.
What? OK, OK, OK.
We're going to do a little, little side jump.
I want to hear. About that, yeah.
OK, so I was working in a potatobar in Hilton.
So actually one of the best likethe best money I've had like
apart from my corporate job in London and actually like 6 years

(14:26):
together, but like I was in the best money I was had, I was
spending the least amount of least amount.
But essentially I'm this potato farm and also the reason I ended
up in coffee this time, this potato farm.
And they had like 3 or 4 different contractors like
working for them. And so there was like our
contractor Les being really, really good after, I don't know

(14:47):
if he's around anymore or whatever he's doing.
It's like, and then you had somepeople that like directly
employed by the company and thenyou had like people who were
under this like one of the bosses, husbands and
contracting. So they were like the bunch of
Malaysians. And essentially like we were
always complaining about not getting shifts.
So we kind of like started doingsome investigations and then

(15:09):
then and at that time, the Malaysians were getting all the
shifts. And it just turns out like
through this whole process, we find out that the Malaysians are
only getting paid cash in hand. Right, and probably less.
Right, like a lot. They were getting 20% of their
pay car even though the company was like paying the contractor
like the full amount. Yeah.
So that was like. Yeah, that's some shady.

(15:30):
Shit, that was shady. But like, in the end, yeah,
like, basically all the backpackers kind of like, merged
together. So what is it like?
There's a bit. There's so much shit happening
now like farm I swear to God. Honestly, like you have my
friends that like basically usedevery excuse to like, um, out of

(15:54):
work. For example, I think one of
these cases was and in this tinyappearance in as well, but she
tags all balls. Yeah, she was part of the whole
kind of scan like he's like the Malaysians stuff.
She was like, well I can't come to work today because it has a
kangaroo and I'm living room andhe just keeps and he just came

(16:17):
and I can't like that wasn't excuse.
That was her. Why actually got the test?
I'm gonna ask you to send that. Text I have some pretty bad
excuses back in the day for not going to work, but that is
that's next. Level and then like they used to
like just going high to like I'mjust stopping them out because
it was jokes we used to say we called it like pulling a Tony

(16:40):
and Jane, like we don't wanna Skype.
Because it happens, so I love it.
It's kind of like the story of the Malaysians, but kind of with
a quick one of like. So you had OK, So you had to
liberate them because they were,Yeah.
Well fucked hard, really really well.
But like that, that towered oht my God like.
But you you're saying you're notgetting a lot of work, but when
you're at the farms, you're not supposed to be working everyday

(17:01):
like. That that was my fastest second
year by 30. It was like completely
different. I kind of, I think that's the
other thing is I came with Australia with a lot more
intention of actually living here because I think people
don't realize it on your first and second year, like the
feeling of going home and not knowing when you're gonna come
back. And like I said to myself, I

(17:23):
made myself a vow that I would never feel the way I felt, which
is like leaving Australia. Like I just don't want to go
like and going home and I not knowing when I'm going to
return. Like this place does feel like
home to me. Like, um, so yeah, so basically
this year I was a lot more intentional.
I was applying for every single marketing role going.

(17:43):
I was interviewing, I was speaking, I was network and I'm
still networking. But yeah, like that was one of
those things where like my firstand second year was a very much
like for fun, figuring out what I don't want to do.
But like my third year of my 30sis more like, I really want to
do this. And like again, going to New
Zealand again, I'm still building out those connections
and like, I'm not sure you networking with a bunch of

(18:05):
people to try and stay on the other side of the world.
I'm at the UK but it's not really my cup.
From what I hear, yeah, it's Australia would be a lot better
for you. Well, I'm glad I'm not the only
one here in my 30s. And but I also understand what
you're saying. Like I've been trying to get a
job firefighting here and it's, it's been actually a lot more
difficult than I thought it would be because in Australia

(18:27):
there's a lot of admin, there's a lot of qualifications,
certifications, there's a lot ofprocesses to transfer credits,
whatever it is. So yeah, I've, I've struggled
with that as well. So I'm actually just going to be
doing a labour job in a couple weeks here just to make some
money and hopefully eventually do the fire thing.
But it's it's being quite a bit more difficult than expected.
Yeah, I think that's the other thing is when we're talking
about the lies as well of the travelling is this is like the

(18:48):
motivation to keep yourself, go in like, alright, yeah, that's
like a massive thing. But yeah, going back to like.
So we're Talking about Kitty by Emily.
Hey, that's fine, we got off therails.
We went off the rails like 5-8 point.
Yeah, that's so true. That's also like, yeah, again
with ADHD and shit like. Well, so So crazy is really

(19:10):
nice, but I haven't really had too much of a chance to explore
the rest of Sydney or even elsewhere.
So maybe if you want to highlight some other places in
Sydney, maybe give me some recommendations for places to go
and people listening will check down.
There So it really depends on what your vibe is and like
again, I think I'm so lucky to say that I have explored
certainly like a lot. So obviously the first thing is

(19:30):
like if I was to go and do Sydney like and take my parents
like back to it, I would do a few little things.
So your standards would be your Bondi to Kitty walk.
Have you done that? OK, cool, have you don't say
Kitty walk. I'm actually on your first day.
I would recommend. And I did this to the girls and
when they came out with me and so my 2 best friends and my and

(19:52):
my best friend's cousin and Morgan doing to me or we're all
out like together for like and all like got to sitting around
the same time. And the first day I took them
out too. We basically took a ferry to
from Circular Quay to Manly. And So what I love about that
ferry is you get to see the Opera House and you get to see
the Harbour Bridge really, really, really like quickly and

(20:13):
it's just so nice and the views from the harbour you get.
Do you like the Inner harbour? And then you gotta go down to
their Manly and Manny is where Ispent like about 3 or 4 months.
Like it's probably this place I spent the longest day in apart
from KG. And yes, like man needs some
really nice beaches. Like in the summer they
sometimes have very concerts. So really would recommend like
checking them out like Winston surf shirts which spoke concert

(20:35):
was fantastic. Yeah.
So yeah, that would be like my day one.
Then you got the bonus kiddie area.
But then if you're looking for some other places to go that
I've got off the beaten track outside of Sydney or around
Sydney, I'd like recommend Little Bay, one of my favorite
beaches. So that's towards botany.
So you can actually walk there from Maroubra, which I'm not
going to be able to do, but I'lldo that when I come back.
So sorry, that's called what little.

(20:55):
Bay Little Bay is actually really good.
Southern Maroubra. Yeah, so it's like the other
side of the Malabar headland andthat's really, really fun.
Also just quickly going back to money.
Also spits, Manny walks. I'm so fucking gorgeous.
But like I need to see that for you few days ago.
Well, what I wanted to do a Manly and it turns out I can't
do it because I need a motorcycle license is I wanted
to rent a moped and check out all the northern beaches, but

(21:17):
you need a freaking motorcycle license, which is stupid.
You know, move that in South America they give you like even
say off you go. That's like, I guess like you've
got to think Australia is basically like what a developed
country and as long as like a utopia, like it's kind of got
the best bits. It's got the processes and
stuff. It's like almost like an
English, I always say it's like an English America.
So like. An English America.

(21:39):
Yeah, it's really, really, really weird.
Like there's so many, like so many like things that are taken
from English culture, but there's also so much like
America in it. Like if you're going to the
Outback and stuff like that, you're very much like that.
And you get more land American and like the roads are a little
wider. Like when you leave out Sydney,
where is like, for example, Sydney feels like a bit like a

(22:00):
hot year. It's like a European like vibe.
But yeah, yeah. So going back to like places
around Sydney, I'd really, really, really recommend.
And I did this recently was the Royal National Park.
So there's this place called Wedding Cake Rocks, again, one
of the few places that haven't been to, but it's really, really
stunning. But you've got the figure of

(22:22):
eight pills. Have you heard of them?
No. So there's like rock pools and
they literally like shake like figure of eight.
And you have to like, it's like nice little hike.
It's about an hour South. So you can rent a car or you can
get there by train. And yeah, that's a really,
really cool one. And then there's also a place
called Wattamolla Falls, which is, I don't think, I've not
really seen it before. And I just fell and I've been

(22:42):
there a couple of times, but you've got a waterfall and then
it goes down to this little Creek and then you've got this
really nice beach. So you've got that good stuff in
the party that's. Sales.
And the yeah, the other place that I recommend is current guy
Chase. Get him like you was the Blue
Mountains and stuff as your local national parks.
But clearing guy. It's really similar to

(23:03):
apparently from Milford Sound inNew Zealand.
And it's beautiful. Like I went with my friend Max
and we just like went around andlike tight around a waterfall,
like it was so gorgeous. And like you can then do the
Palm Beach Lighthouse walk. OK, And that is that's a that's
a view. And that was so cool.
That's also, I think when the film hanging, OK.

(23:24):
So is it similar to Blue Mountains?
It's just a different area. I would say Blue Mountains, I'd
say Blue Mountains are getting really, really good pets, but
like it's totally different. So you're right, Royal National
Park is kind of like Beachy, whereas I Karen guy like it's
kind of beaching. You've also got like waterfalls,
You've got a national, you've got national falls.
Say OK, OK, little meme. Here different landscapes.

(23:47):
Yeah, like, and then, yeah, current guys a bit more like
kind of inlets and stuff. And then you've got Blue
Mountains, which is like the mountains and stuff like that.
And like there's some really good waterfalls around there if
you been. Yeah, I went one day.
Luckily there's a girl with a rental car, so I hopped in with
her, fellow Canadian actually, and we ended up doing the Grand
Canyon hike. It was incredible.

(24:08):
I did not expect that at all. From yeah honestly that's the
other thing about Australia is like you did you have everything
here so you like I've done I've done most of the legal apart
from Tasmania. OK yeah it I think it's really
cool like thing you can literally like just everything
change. It is like so one minute.
So when I was doing my road tripfrom Perth to Sydney, which was

(24:29):
like my most recent road trip bit my friend and we basically
ended up doing like going from like this really, really, really
white beaches of Esperance. Don't know if you've heard of.
Them. Oh my God.
All the Google Maps. Like I feel like honestly,
honestly, I'll just send, I'll just send you photos of like my

(24:49):
map. My Google, my Google Photos is
actually pretty sick. I've got it shows a map of where
you taking photos and like. Oh really?
Yeah, that's that would actuallybe super handy.
Like that's like like I literally got everywhere apart
from Tasmania that like the southwestern corner, you're
going from vineyards to white crystal beaches to deserts all
within a big couple of hours driving.

(25:11):
And that's like really sick. So that's yeah, like every place
in Australia, you've got everything.
You've got like rainforests, like you've got up and hands.
You got Cape Tribulation, which is like this really like dense
raid for as you've got like crocodiles and the water.
You've got the Whitsundays, which like you've got.
And I'm going to be staying awayfrom the crocodiles.
I'm good on that. OK, what was that like?

(25:33):
It's so interesting. Like, well, this is actually
quite a funny story, OK, so let's just say like I was.
I actually, I don't wanna say itmight be, but actually, I'll
tell you. I'll tell you.
I'll tell you. Tracking.
Like saltwater crocodiles Isles daring thing.
Just don't just don't go turn off the party on a boat and

(25:56):
you're like, how am I going to get back and live account
Marina? Ohhhhh my.
God, this is like, what is this guys like, Like what is this
like person? I was like, it's like a bit of a
psycho or something like that. And like what the fuck do I do?
Know how to sail? So I'm like, OK, I'm chill.
OK, alright. Well, I mean, yeah, I won't, I
won't pry on too many questions there.

(26:17):
But yeah, I'm trying to stay away from the crops and the
sharks and all that, but. He's like, The thing is, it's
like you're trying to save them.Where where do I go to see
wildlife in Sydney? Because Sydney is absolutely,
Again, Sydney is not the best place to really see Australia.
You can like go to like, I thinkif your birthday, I don't know
when your birthday is. My God, I'm bleeding.

(26:40):
If you go to brain brain brain, where is it?
Taronga Zoo on your birthday youget free.
Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah.
Well, my birthday just happened so.
Um, so you can go to um, I wouldreally recommend again, like
Royal National Park is really good.
I also again curing guy is. Probably one of the most easier.

(27:00):
Access to national parks and that's where you can see some
school stuff. But if you wanna go up a couple
of hours drive, I really like like Port Stevens and airport,
really cool National Park. They've also what's the other
place that I've saw wildlife I just saw and a kid there.
I don't know if you know where that is.
Not a clue. As I indicated now or with my
dad calls it an enchilada. Ah, maybe I do then.

(27:23):
Yeah, that little skinny hedgehog things, but I must
appeal hedgehogs and yeah, I sawone of them on the spit to Manly
Walk, which I thought was so cool.
Kindly was have Penguins at Marley.
Yeah, rainbows. Yeah, OHP shit.
Oh, it is. The fuck.

(27:44):
Alright, well anyways, well I was reporting a podcast the
other night and that's when we had the fire out gear.
So I had to stop the podcast because like, oh shit, there's a
fire. Why was the fire?
Right here that electrical box you can see the burn marks on
the fucking. When was this?
Was like yesterday or the day before?
I think The day before, yeah. How fascinating.

(28:07):
That is, I know, right? You should know everything.
You're the longest tenured. No, I give that to you.
Go give that to Hugo. Hugo Rammy.
Ah, yeah. Also, I left.
I didn't actually leave. And I actually gonna, you know,
it was so nice to have a house. Yeah, no, I I'll I'll need my

(28:28):
own place at some point, but I do quite enjoy the house.
Is you ever find that the distance, like how big city is
that ever become an issue? Because I find like if I want to
go to certain places or see certain people, sometimes among
transit for like an hour and a half.
So that's the that's the difference is like I, I'm from
London, so like can meet in likean hour a day for me is just
like nothing like and I think I actually think Gigi is again,

(28:51):
why is dating Kiggins? Like if I actually did get a job
in the city, so only an hour to work and I'm right by these
gorgeous beaches. I've got like a such a good
community. And that's something about Gigi
as well is like you can walk down the street and you make
some really good friends in thiscommunity.
But yeah, like you're at the beach and then some, you're at
work and like, because she's really good for like transport
actually, if you go to round life and stuff.

(29:13):
Well I mean times that he was good.
Don't get me wrong, it's way better than Canada.
Tanner is shit. If I don't want to travel 20
minutes from my house I have to take three different buses.
What? It's insane.
Yeah, well that's like how it isfrom my house to my best mates
house back in England. And I think that's the other
thing about London is it's whereI grew up, especially in the
southwest corner. There's train strikes, you're

(29:34):
not seeing your friends or you've got like a three hour
turning. No forget it.
End of the Uber U2 students likesuper expensive so.
What about his cheap? No.
I swear, like games, like I feellike I, I feel like Uber is
cheaper, like I would spend like6060 quid like on Ubers, like I
lived on my parents house. So before that, but I used to

(29:55):
like go out and night, like my last train was at 11 and I'd
always just miss my last train and I'd have to get an Uber
home. But like the cheapest I would
get like would be like £7 said like minimum like $14.00 right
to, and that's just like a, or is it?
And that is literally just like a mile journey from the boogie

(30:16):
train station. But when I'm going from London,
I'm going like I'm spending 30 to 60 dollars £60.
I actually stayed in the hostels, um, during my work
Christmas party season ones because I was like, this is
actually working out really, really well for me.
Just so you didn't have to Uber.Yeah, I was like, I never had
the mass. I was just like, it's cheaper
for me to get to get a hostel inKings, pause and then wake up

(30:38):
literally 20 minutes before work.
Yeah, then. Then after, yeah, yeah, pay for
Uber. Well, no, I mean, that's me
coming from South America though, right?
Where 1/2 hour Uber rides like $5.
Yeah, that's a bit. Of a I guess like that's the
difference is that if you come from South America, but like,
say, for example, coming from the UK, yeah, it's completely
different. Like UK is expensive man.
Well, now everyone hears from the UK.

(30:59):
OK, let's talk about some other places in Australia though,
because I still need to get around and explore.
I've only do more three weeks soI gotta.
Get the house. So yeah, I, if I'm gonna do you
like, like if I was going to do in China right for you, I
definitely say like some of the places like hasn't had.
If you're going up north, you'vegot the East Coast.
I think everyone does the East Coast.

(31:20):
Sunshine. Yeah, aren't they like Noosa and
like 17171717 Cool. Um, I had actually been like up
most of the East Coast, like on this trip just because again,
wanting to stay in Sydney and found another Sydney, but like
up in the East Coast you've got some really gorgeous like places
like off the beaten track. Like I can't, I can't, I can't,
I can't recommend Port Stevensonoff like it's so gorgeous and I

(31:43):
wish I had like a longer there because I was really chasing a
campervan. Crescent Head again is a really
cool little surf town and I got to spend a bit of time there.
Iron and I'll I feel like Byron something we need to talk about
because it's yeah, it's super. Everyone loves it, but I used to
love it and if you looked at me you'd be like, she's ayment.

(32:05):
Well, I mean I wouldn't cause I wouldn't know what that.
Means you're like, it's kind of like hippie, kind of like
basically like basic and I'm a basic hippie kind of, but it's
definitely got like a lot of energy.
But I found that Byron in, if I was to get like in 2025 versus
say 20/17/2018, it's completely changed.
They basically taken away the rainbow from Byron.

(32:28):
So there's been a lot of people going missing.
It's kind of like I've heard some like stuff like about they
call it Byron Bay Butcher, like some guys that.
Ohk it's sketchy now. It's proper sketchy.
I've I don't think I've ever I, I don't, I don't know if I ever
felt unsafe in Australia, but I felt unsafe in Byron.
And that's saying something likeI lived in Byron.
Yeah. And like they painted all like I
say to the arts Factory, which is a really cool heating

(32:50):
hospital and I loved it. But again, that vibe completely
changed. And it was worth going too,
because I really needed to go back to work.
But they're kind of like, behaved paradise and put up a
parking lot. Look for like, right would be
better. Yeah, like, like the energy just
felt weird. I just kept saying to myself, I
was like, why? Why does Byron not feel like the

(33:11):
Byron I knew? And like, I lived in Byron for a
month. I love Byron, right.
But like. What do you think change?
What do you think? Again, a lot of the hippies left
earrings Caribbean, so they built up a lot of like on the
beaches so that people would literally broke hippies would
live on the beach, right? And there was like a whole lot
of fire germs and stuff like that.
And they're like, it's like basically like expanded.

(33:35):
There's now like loads of Pilates classes get a new weight
Woolworths like that. I've now got like a lot of like
actual mainline stores, whereas like you would you would kind of
get boutiques and you kind of get the surf brands and barren
but the day, but it wasn't like.It was because they developed
their. Yeah, sorry about that.

(33:55):
Even though there is $5 wine bottles there.
Well, that would be. Nice, yeah.
I gotta stay away from the wine.Though I got the wine Coon.
Australia. If you come into Australia,
Botswana isn't called. Book flights will goon.
Yeah, and I don't know what theycare in that shit.
Period. I had two leaders while I was
golfing and then I proceeded to walk around 5 or 6 hours because

(34:16):
I got lost. My phone died.
Fucking hell. And that was really joke.
But like, yeah, and other placesup the East Coast, again, this
is really good. Like, there's one thing you got
to know is like about the Tropicof Capricorn, like everything
changes when the Great Barrier Reef had hits.
So you've got cropland and you've got land.
But like, say, below the tropical coconut, I'd say go
scary like, which is also known as Fraser Island.

(34:38):
And they got dingos and me and my sister weren't there like
when we were like 22 and 20. And she fucking loved it.
And it was for 21st birthday 2123.
Um, she fucking loved it. Like.
People listening though, like what does a dingo?
A dingo is a wild dog and they're like really cute.
They're like, I want to pet them.
They look. But you're not supposed CVS.

(34:59):
Or I don't know if they got rabies, but like they're also
one of the oldest dog breeds in the world, say they like they're
so cute, like dingoes are adorable.
But yeah, I recommend going scary.
Like you can go to like you can go like on this like Creek and
called Eli Creek. And it's the freshest water
you'll ever drink. Like people like on the island
will go and pick up get them water from there.

(35:21):
Wow. OK.
And you're driving along sand because it's like the largest
sand island in the. World want to do a four wheel?
To it, yeah, I, I recommend doing that.
I did for. I did Fraser twice, yeah.
So once on my first East Coast trip and once when my sister
came out. Yeah.
And that was fine. The other thing I would
recommend doing is skydiving. Like I've done that twice as

(35:42):
well. OK.
We don't talk about how I won the second skydive, but
basically from like. There's so many things you're
just like leaving us like a hangnail, but we just got to
keep moving. And I again though, you see now
in that hostel, um, I've been Cairns.
I was, I was still saying a bit of a loose cannon, but a bit
more like kind of got my head screwed on.

(36:04):
But yeah, I was a bit of a like at least had in my 20s.
So yeah, like I did some school stuff.
They actually save me a lot of money because I've gotta go for
a skydive and I go by my sister,a skydive for her birthday.
So it worked out really really. Well, skydiving is not cheap.
I've done it once and it was phenomenal.
I'm actually afraid of heights. Yeah, I thought, I'm so scared
of heights. I feel like though you're

(36:24):
skydiving, the scariest part is going up time.
Yeah, yeah, 100%. Yeah, like honestly, like.
So yeah, wow. I want to try to think like
driving around the country again, West Coast.
Now no one really talks about West Coast.
Like obviously you got hands andstuff like that on the East
Coast and you've got some amazing things, but like no one
really talks about like the WestCoast.

(36:45):
I don't think like the red centre.
Is it super underrated? Like isn't it?
Beautiful. Oh my God, honestly, honestly,
WA like I would say if I had to go back to, if I could time
travel back to the best six weeks of my life, it would be
the West Coast with my best friend with these people.
So I'm at my friends in this hostel because it's the only

(37:07):
hotel in Darwin that didn't have, um, a bar.
So it was like, well, sick. I'm gonna do BYOB because girls
are cheapskate. And I just finished it up like a
red centre relocation. So I did from Adelaide art to
the red centre. I did earlier and stuff.
And then me and this girl left our group because we, the guy
was a bit creepy. And so we then did our reader
camper van medication up throughthe centre.

(37:28):
So like between Alice Springs and Darwin.
And then he was like, I'm gonna go and do my own thing.
And I was like, cool. So I stayed in this hotel and,
uh, turns out like there's these, I'm like, how do I get
down the West Coast? Cause like my friends just gone
with this, like other dude. And turns out this, this girl
goes, oh, hey, we're looking foran extra person or we're going

(37:49):
down the West Coast And this girl, she's like, yeah, let's do
it. And then I meet a bunch of these
strangers in this hostel and, like, we don't know each other.
And yeah, like, within those sixweeks.
So like, I still speak to them. I literally got a text from them
like, last night being like, yeah, but we still, like the
whole broom. We did.
Catherine. Catherine Smith looked good,

(38:12):
gorgeous. And Catherine Hot Springs, Lake
Argyle, where we became really, really close friends.
And we just like, like, jumped in the lake.
It was like, after a few days, we were just, like, jumping off
the side and like, into the lake.
And then my friend who I met at the hostel, who introduced me to
everyone, she and her boyfriend went off.
And I mean like the rest of the group ended up beating this

(38:34):
random old dude called David. Try.
OK. And then he was like, yeah, we
got you on, let's just go on this Yaw.
But yeah, like Lake Argyle in the Kimberleys is gorgeous.
But we didn't have we only have we didn't have a four wheel
drive. So we didn't get to see as much
as what you wanted to. But then you're going down to
Broome, you've got Cable Beach and that was gorgeous.
I gave him saying gorgeous so much because I.

(38:55):
Genuinely do. You think like it was one of the
most amazing experiences like you had Carandini National Park
where you like go climb through gorges.
You had X mouth and Shelby beat.I forgot to go and see the the
girlfriends at Monkey Mia. But we did like all of that and
the sunsets and WA like, Oh my God, WA is I'm probably my

(39:17):
favorite say. So is it quite different from
the East Coast? Just landscape.
Place, it's totally different. So you've got like so W East
Coast is a lot more built up anda bit more like rainforest and
stuff. I was West Coast, more like
desert. You'd eat and like you're just
driving without. Sometimes you're driving for
hours. Like we all want 300 kilometers
away from the nearest coals. OK.
Yeah, like it was. That's when he had made sure he

(39:38):
got some extra some extra petrolon.
You yeah, like we always like filming, but like good like that
six weeks with just everything with like we went Pelican
feeding. So my friend, um, is it FIFA?
Like she was feeding a Pelican and a Pelican just like took it
out of her hand. And we also went to a
micronation called hot river that's now dissolved and that

(40:02):
was cool. We saw pink lakes.
We had like a few times where wewere just like we're all at the
same age, all on the same stage of life and we were just, it was
just so much fun. But like the natural beauty of
everything there as well. And I just camp in like 3 times.
We were camping at the side of the road.
We're watching dude, where's my car and my friend Alex's car.

(40:24):
Well, there's a yeah, we like nature's window and all of that
stuff. And then we actually continued
the road trip down to Margaret River and it kind of got ended
badly because of my friend did flip and he landed on his head.
So do not think to let some jumping bobs kids.
Oh my God. OK.
Yeah, that was. What was he doing?

(40:45):
I don't know. I don't know if you've seen them
like you've been around yet, butbasically certain calendar and
caravan parks. Yeah, they had these like not
bouncy castle. It's basically like, you know,
BLOB. A BLOB.
It's usually like, you know, Have you seen BLOB jumping?
No. Is it like a big inflatable bag
or? Something like that yeah they
like this inflatable bag on likeit's basically dumping pillow.

(41:06):
That's OK, like what up Bob as Ibasically Alex was the oldest
out of all of us. He was the biggest kid I've ever
yeah, he's the biggest kid. He's like let me let me let me
know. I was like OK, fine.
Alex let let let's go. And yeah yeah, it was like I
found I found the jumping pillow.
Alex was like yes. And then he basically did a fur
like he jumped on it for 2 seconds and did a flick and he

(41:27):
landed on his head and I was like bro.
Parties over. Yeah, cause like me and Alex
were meant to be doing the southwest corner together like
so the rest of the group, we're gonna go back to Perth and then.
You know you're not being alright, right?
Like. We're Oh yeah, go.
He would. He was in a back brace for like
he almost broke his back. Wow.
He was in a back brace for like.Ohhhhh.

(41:48):
My few weeks and like. Ohhhhh.
Where to God Alex was? That's why I only flipped in the
water. Now I do not do any.
Yeah, I actually actually went to that camera ban park and I
took a photo and send it to him.Was like, yeah, like around
there. You've also got like tastes like
Gnomes Ville, which is so, yeah, the southwest corner.

(42:08):
You've got a known cell in Cowtown.
You've got camera. There a bunch of moms or like.
Yeah, it's just literally, there's this whole feet, like
whole forest of gnomes, what theheck?
Like nobody knows who. The.
Oh my God. I was like, guys, we need to go
here. Like why?
Why are we doing this? I was like, guys, we just need
to go here. They're OK.
Cat, we understand why you've taken us here around that

(42:30):
corner. They've also got to play school
on Kawamura and like, it's just a whole ton of full of cows.
That's so, Madam. I Margaret River was sag.
Yeah, like I say that my car broke down on the second on my
second trip there. Yeah.
Finally finding a mechanic in the middle of Margaret River and
then finding a high higher car in the middle of Margaret River

(42:54):
near impossible the week before Christmas.
We managed to do it and we managed to do it.
That was like character building.
That was very much like, but we stayed upset.
Winery Margaret River has gottenreally good wines.
That doesn't sound that doesn't sound too bad.
Then he ended up in a good place.
Yeah, like, and then like I met a bunch of hippies, like, ended
up like meeting mistake. Can I?
You like he was like, let's justgo down to the beach and there's

(43:16):
all these hippies in drum circles.
And like, it was so sick. And like, just the southwest
corner is really interesting as well because when you go from
the beach, but then you go to the dense forest and you go to
the desert and that's all withina few hours.
Yeah, Like him better. You would love Pemberton.
OK, yeah, well, I'm and I'm excited to go explore a like my
plan really is just to to get situated somewhere the first
year, make a bunch of money and then I'm gonna buy the van or

(43:37):
the four wheel drive and the second round we go drive.
Around I would say definitely full drive like like because you
can just see so much and a lot of Aussie culture is based
around like 4 wheel driving. Yeah.
Like we had like under the Hondawho was kind of a four wheel
driver, she looking all-wheel drive, Yeah.
And she was a Honda CRV laser like we go ahead W radio and she

(44:00):
was dying. OK, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, it's the thing. I gotta make sure I get
something good and I'll just a lemon or something.
That's been you. Know yeah mine wasn't lemon it's
like for blue were like you knowwhat it was cheaper for us to do
this road trip buying a car and like I kind of knew the rest
were getting a bang on. Well you're better off buying a
car because I only know they just sell.
It yeah, I scrap line so like I.Only got 7 years back that

(44:22):
didn't work out Maybe. But do you wanna?
I know you wanted to talk a little bit about traveling and
traveling with a disability withday DHD and autism.
I don't know if you want to talk.
Yeah, honestly though, I think how do I talk about it again, I
don't know life outside of traveling without a.

(44:43):
It's like, so I found like the one thing I've definitely
learned is like with autism and ADHD, they kind of cancel out
because I'm like I'm raw doggingmy life at the moment without
any medication. Because you've got to think
about like say first things thatyou're traveling, Are you
medicated or when you walk? Because there's a lot of like
legislation. So I kind of knew that I didn't
want to do meds because of like my whole ability to travel, but
it's like building that routine and stuff and like making sure

(45:04):
that you kind of like do things that kind of give you that
stability. So for example, again, job
hunting, I'm looking at Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00 and I'll
do like training and stuff like that.
And then yeah, it's just also finding like systems that work
for you. Like for example, I used to
always have deodorant in back ofmy car in case I forgot to put
it on. And then like I always put my

(45:26):
like past like actually don't want passwords, but I think I
know where it is always trying to find your passport as well.
Where are. You gonna have a good place to
put. That you.
Don't want to lose. My biggest trip like and then
also it's just making sure like you making sure that you sleep
like I think ADHD traveling withADHD like I'm so comfortable
like with the unknown, but my autism fucking fucks me up so

(45:48):
I'll be like right, I don't knowwhy I'm gonna sleep tonight.
My ADHD loves this OK but. But they are.
All of them, yeah. And then it comes to a while,
like after certain while when you're doing like, long time
travel and you don't know where you gonna be sleeping.
Yeah like you do get a scared and my friend again she like
really loved like 3 meals a day routine.
Rossi like it's not a G Walters egg all Dinos at the moment but

(46:12):
like rows like I'm just very much like I can fall away goose
like I'd be like yeah why are wegonna come tonight I'll just tap
here. Hmm, yeah, like.
Well, that's a hard part of travel though rate as much of it
is unplanned, like you're winging it most of the time.
So to have that stability or to have that routine is sometimes
hard to find. But I guess being in Australia
would be a bit different. You're actually here to live,
right? Like you're actually.
Staying, yeah, that's it and that's it.

(46:35):
But then it's also making sure that you enjoy your time because
that's my thing. My biggest regret message is
I've put so much time in trying to stay here that I saved up for
six years. Like I've still like I did a lot
to me about here, but I did sorry I didn't enjoy it as much
as I should have done and I'm leaving in 2 days.
But it's building up that routine is like doing that,

(46:55):
isn't it? Well, it's those little hacks
like you say, like happy dealer in the back of the car like
I've. Started looking.
Cubes I've I've started doing like travel tip videos, like
just funny videos and the one I have is like if anytime you're
leaving for the day, if you're doing like an excursion or
something, either bring toilet paper or bring like something to
wipe with. Because the other day I was in
the public washroom and there's no TV and I was in a bad spot.

(47:17):
Noble buy hats I had I had a napkin, so I was.
OK. But I'm saying if I had no, that
would have been a big, you know,I would have lost a pair
underwear basically. So I've been doing funny videos
like that. It's like things that those are
the things you pick up along theway when you're traveling just
to help make things. A little, yeah.
Also over packed. The one thing that I found
really annoying is being a fashion girl, not well-being

(47:37):
obsessed with like clothing and stuff like that.
And not being able to like I'm so I'm packing cubes is like a
massive thing. Well, you're living out of your
bag the entire time. Right.
Yeah, I mean, I wanna go today. Well, I got so excited about
hanging my clothes off. I understand it though, it's
like they're always in a bag on the floor or if you're at best.
In the locker, I was just like when I moved to my room and

(47:59):
like, I've never been so tidy inmy life.
Yeah, but like when I moved to my room in Kijiji, like in this
tender shower house, and I just Oh my God, like hitting clothes
into a. Like.
Yeah, and then also I've also realized something.
You don't have to fold clothes. Not true.
Yeah, if you hang. Up don't hurt nobody.

(48:20):
You don't have to fold um. She got distracted again.
I think I'm just gonna message and I'm just trying to work.
I hear something. Um, but yeah, like, um.
Oh. Call.
Ohhhhh I'm still dying over hereby the way.
Yeah, so my baby, I'm like, oh, I've got a girl.

(48:43):
That's also, again, because I'm leaving the country.
Ohio I gotta get a time massage I think is what I need to.
Do that's kind of a good one andJ has there, yeah.
The other thing is also making sure you like to do self-care
and like when you travel. Oh, that's big.
Yeah, yeah, that's a big for a girl.
I found out. Like you can go.
There's Facebook groups. You can basically get your
haircut for free or just now. Yeah, yeah.

(49:05):
So you like people like. Could I get my haircut for free?
It's long enough. Yeah, like honestly, like
honestly, you've just gotta findlike little hacks, like a little
like puzzles and stuff. Like I got inked like by people
like in like I've met, like I'vegot inked in the back of my
shoulder from a girl in and whatis it in Fremantle and Hostel

(49:28):
that was fun. But like there's also like it is
important to also practice that self-care.
Like I used to get my nails doneevery like every 3 or 4 weeks.
You called out just to try and save money spending on Malcolm
said. Um, but also like there's a
Facebook group called like hair model Sydney.
And I actually got my hair cut by this really, really amazing
women called Briar from the neighborhood island.

(49:48):
Just doing a little plug there, right.
And, and yeah, she did like one of the best haircuts I've done.
And also my friend Alice who wasin room 303 where she got me to
tell her do her modelling and that's why my hair now blonde.
Do you think you'll just messagein the hospital group chat?
Does anyone cut hair? Do you think someone would help
a guy out? You don't know about that.
What if you book your hustle through hostel world?

(50:09):
It gives you the group. The Hostel World Group chat.
OK, no, not for this one specifically, no, no, they
should. But they should have a WhatsApp.
Oh yeah, we actually did have a WhatsApp grade because like
basically like nobody knew the plans.
So we we used to get ourselves alittle crazy AOE tell little
Kitty hotels and then that then changed a few of the girls made
a little side. Chat.

(50:29):
Maybe I'll offer the Hawks. I'll say listen, I'll start the
group chat. I'll do your social media.
Social media Meg does that and Meg is fucking sick.
I met her, she's got her own like bit she doesn't have her
anymore but like. So she doesn't do it.
Anymore, No, she doesn't have her, but she does what she wants
from Mark. She does it like.
Oh, she still does. It for Yeah, she doesn't.

(50:49):
She does it for Mark, but yeah, like Mike does that.
But you could always ask about doing community management.
I mean, that's kind of like something would be kind.
Of cool. Yeah, like I just set up an
informal group chat because I was just getting so fed up of
just like, like what we doing guys?
What's the plan when we gonna gosee BH?
When we go Shades? When we gonna go Covelli Hotel?
Yeah, I feel like I've been to like, Mason Pop around here.

(51:11):
Yeah, well, that's that's understandable.
I mean, most people around here at English too.
And that sends you probably cultures.
You're going to the pub. The my my my roommates are funny
lad because he's he's now being on two different 36 hour
batters. Wait, wait wait, is this a guy
from up north? No, no, no.
Well, you mean up north in England.
Yeah. I don't know where he's from.

(51:33):
No, no, no, no, no. He's Yeah, you probably have
made because he's either in bed or he's he's out.
What do you think of the one with the England tattoo?
No, he's got one on his leg. Yeah, it's like and he's like a.
White Cross. He's a He's a bald fellow.
Ohk OK, different. One different one.
Yeah, they all have they. All have at all.
I was just saying came because like there was a guy literally
like he lives like not gonna work in eastern suburbs saying

(51:56):
like so worry I'm right. Where we are right now is
Corvette, which is as and he literally lives like the
equivalent of Corvallis Coochie, like about 20-30 minute walk
away from me. That's like from back at home.
I was like what the fuck? Like he literally.
Yeah, that was weird. But that's also the other thing
in Australia. Australia is really fucking

(52:16):
small. Well, it's small, but like I
said, there's also so many people from the UK, like so many
people are in Egypt. Like I haven't met not many
Canadians, right? Like it's at least here in
Coogee. I mean yeah, like Koji is
basically mini islands in the UK, Randwick is Farmington,
Ireland. So Irish is like actually.
I like just the eastern suburbs side, I think.

(52:39):
I think Manny's a bit more like northern, yeah, like more
Canadian. Like one of my dad's trying to
think Hannah was American, but one of my best friends and cat
litter names and Kat and Catherine, she she's from
Canada, but I think like they golike a bit more like Byron, so.
That's what I heard that throughout the East Coast, yeah,
but that's OK. I.

(52:59):
Was like, yeah, it's really weird.
Like a lot of my friends are brats.
I have got a few Americans, Australian friends as well.
Yeah, got one. I got one taking Kiwi.
And I gotta meet some Aussies. I haven't done any.
Yet. I haven't met any.
Honestly, and that's it. That's another child devices
actually joining one clubs is actually showing that I've met
so many cool people. And they're they're locals,

(53:21):
they're lazy. And like some of them are
locals. I like a lot of people.
I think Sydney is just such a bit like some little London well
and know that is quite an importtown for sure.
Yeah. So like you've got people in
Sydney just like from all over the place.
Yeah, I've just somehow ended upwith a bunch of Brits, but like

(53:42):
and then like, say my token Irish bestie Iron and he's
pretty damn cool. He's he's my emotional support
Aaron, but also so it's so weirdas well.
I like how everything's so simplexml.
The first person I met and Sydney outside of my friends,
Mr. She has mutuals with me in London.
Yeah, it's great. It is a small.
World. Yeah, like I.

(54:04):
I. Got introduced to her via
someone via in America. It's, it's crazy how that works.
It really is. OK, So I know you gotta pack,
um, but I wanna just ask you forany like tips, advice for
someone who's thinking about moving to Australia, whether
they're moving, doing a work visa, anything you want to tell
the people about about your time?
OK. I would just say if I could give

(54:26):
like advice, like it really depends on what age you're
going. Don't I think don't set yourself
alright, set yourself expectations, but also be
adaptable to change. That's like one big advice.
Second thing is, is if you're traveling anywhere out of the
East Coast or even like outside of Sydney, get a cough because
that's worth it. And just like honestly also, if

(54:48):
you ever think about going home, just give it time because that's
honest. It changes you.
It becomes a most amazing part of your life.
And if you're from, not from theUK, do your farm work just in
case. Yeah, do your farm work just in
case. That is a big piece of advice.
Well, I'm going to do mine, but I'm going to wait till further
into the year, I think, because. But also it does take longer to

(55:09):
you 88 days like it take it tookme 4 months to my 88 days.
We have to really like yeah, like don't give it three months
left. You need to be thinking.
You need to be thinking like when you're about to about three
to six months in, when that's. Why it's not just 88 days being
there? You actually have to physically
work 80 days. Yeah.
So it really depends I think on your A days like my idea days.

(55:31):
Um, the rules at the time were if you worked 8 months of hours
per week, you would then like that would count as a whole
week. So but then if you work like,
say it was like under 40 hours, though, it would only be the
individual days that you work, right?
So you have to always say do 40 hours a week.
You have to yeah. Yeah.
So it does take longer. Like I unfortunately had a

(55:52):
family tragedy in the middle of it all.
Yeah. That was like around the
Malaysian time and everything. But like I had to go back to
England. So that's why it took me longer
to do my 88. But it is just making sure
because like, it's also seasonal.
It isn't well, that's the hard part because right now they're
they're having a big influx of hiring because it's coming up to
like what's this physical and I don't know if farming very well.

(56:13):
Yeah. No, no.
Well, uh, no. Nah.
How do I not know this? Anyways, it's coming out to a
big season, so they're doing a bunch of hiring.
So honestly I should do it now. But I'm also like, I just got
here though, like I kind of wantto like.
I yeah, I'd go travel, but also if you're going to do it, you
couldn't say much money like again, like I.

(56:33):
Have this season This season. Yeah, and I honestly had the
best time in like farm work. Like again, you've got people
like one of my friends from Scotland, Tony, actually my
friends Izzy and Nate, who I metyears ago and they live in
Australia group back in house. Um, I met him through my farm
work because it's like you go, it's almost like you go through

(56:56):
like this whole like experience together and I'm so.
Much, of course, it brings you closer, right?
Because you're going through it together.
Well, it's back to the highs andlows, right?
Like the fun days of the farm? Yeah.
Like the long shitty days. Honestly though, like the one of
the highest was basically seeingstars.
OK, yeah, OK. Get Charles, go to the Outback
cause you're gonna see the most amazing Sergeant ever gonna see

(57:17):
in your life. Right.
Yeah, yeah. Like like, like, I can't
describe it. Like I can't tell anyone like
how much like the stars I saw and Hillston like where I where
I was and was back in the days before like phone coming would
get enough for it. But Oh my fucking God like.
Yeah, no, I believe it. I can imagine.

(57:38):
I mean. It's like glitter.
It's a pretty good views in South America though.
I got some pretty good starry nights out there as well, but.
Yeah, because being so good how?Like, yeah, laughs Sig.
Well, I'm hoping it's gonna be some good stars.
No, New Zealand should be good. Yeah, like I say, I gotta, I
actually have to apply to my visa there before I turned 36
cause I'm 35 right now. So yeah, last year.

(58:00):
And The thing is with New Zealand.
Actually I'll ask you this too because I don't I haven't looked
it up yet because of now turned 35 when I've started my first
year for the visa. Will I be able to get my second
year? Can I know?
Yeah, yeah. So my friend back to literally
just turned 36, but she's already got her second, second
year visa. OK, so so.

(58:21):
As long as I applied before I turned 36.
Yeah, as long as you apply like Beck literally did it
immediately. So that's why I'm going to say
is you better off doing it because you also like the visa
processing times. It can take either one minute or
you can take at like 88 days. Right.
Like I literally had thought I hadn't done enough days in my
second year visa and went back. Yeah.
And that when I applied for my third year visa, I was like,

(58:43):
what the hell? Like I was hung over after my
30th birthday and my mate was just like, yeah, like, we you
just got your visa. I was like, what the fuck?
So you got a laugh of visa processing time, but you have
you can be on a bridging visa. That's that's maybe why I also
need to do the farm work sooner than later, because I need that
before I can even get the secondvisa.
Right. Also, Christmas on the farm.
Yeah, Christmas on the farm is actually gonna be sick.

(59:04):
I would say like I would, I would do.
That, yeah, can something have to consider because there's
actually one up on the job boardright now.
Where does amazing is it? My friend Joe says that he's
like, my friend Joy stayed in Maroochydore and he actually
stayed in the hospital. And Marie was one of my favorite
places in Australia actually. Like if I had to live somewhere,

(59:26):
right? Maroochydore, Maluuba, like the
whole Sunshine Coast. Yeah, you've got glass house
mountains and like you just got so many gorgeous things and you
got new sure to go out here and you've got like such a cool
music scene. And like Marie, she's got my
favorite bar in Australia, whichis called Old Soul.
I don't know if it still exists, but like, and like Malabar
again, sailing. So I think all under 1 area and
my favorite artists from there like Albus please marry me.

(59:51):
So you're saying, yeah. So maybe I should actually
seriously, because it's. Considered.
Yeah. And like, I can give like, yeah,
like my friend Gyro dies. Jerry was staying there.
Like he said he had a really good time.
And it's called Palms and Parker.
And yeah, like, yeah, I would recommend going out there.
And like my friend Jesse actually, who I'm meeting in New
Zealand, I met her in Millibar, which is a town next to it.

(01:00:13):
And again, me and her haven't seen each other for a while, but
hopefully singer in the next fewmonths.
She's in New Zealand and. Yeah, Jesse is it Jessica met
her part long time partner before and before they broke up.
But like she was with him for like 7 years and they just did
farm like there on the strawberries and they got a tan

(01:00:34):
and like it was sick, was betterthan potatoes.
OK, alright, well, I'm gonna. Have to reach out that they
didn't say what kind of work it was on the farm, but I should I
should inquire at least and. Yeah, honestly with their offer,
honestly, they like if you like coffee as well, like I've
recently discovered in the Glasshouse Mountains, like
actually bring their own coffee beans.
And it's like an Australia fuss feel like SE Queensland, like

(01:00:55):
they're doing like stuff and you're crazy.
Like gonna see that, like that corner of Queensland to
southwest southeastern QLD, stunning.
Like you've got manatees. You've you know, here we live
near enough to Brisbane as well.Yeah, yeah.
So, OK, well there you go. I may have to check it out.
Alright, well before we wrap things up, any any final words

(01:01:17):
on equals notes before we say goodbye to five people?
By five people were like, it wasfun.
Britain, yeah, yeah, just enjoy Australia.
If you think you got about coming out here like I don't,
you would say it's like the bestthree years of your life.
OK, Yeah, yeah. If you have any doubts, don't
just do. It just like money comes back.

(01:01:40):
OHS straight no, don't believe the cultures.
Really, really fucking great here.
So you didn't listen to music? Money.
Money comes back and home will always be there.
You could always go home. Exactly, exactly.
You can't live in Australia in the 20s and 30s.
Yeah, exactly, exactly. Alright, Well, thank you so much
for coming. Over.
I appreciate it. Cheers.
