If you knew exactly what you wanted, the minimum necessary to have it, and the exact steps to get it for you in the fastest and easiest way possible, would you agree that you would already have it?
It's a powerful question.
Why is this so important? Because the more clarity you have about what you want, the reality is, the easier it is to get it.
When you know exactly what you want, you can commit to doing whatever it takes to get it. Isn't that true? If you really want something, you're going to do whatever it takes to get it. But if you're not willing to do whatever it takes to get it, do you really want it?

great, great Natalia and I justmet two pesos. Lovely, great,
but you're here. Let me peopleare still joining us where we've
locked in the room a coupleminutes early. I'm Jamie skull
Teddy, by the way, and mycompany is upscale your business
(01:03):
mark is is my my partner, my cohost. And so he's going to be
facilitating our call today. Butjust welcoming you all in if you
want, please feel free to putany questions, comments in the
chat. Matter of fact, why don'twe start off with Can you all
hear us? If you can, please putone into the chat. Just let us
(01:24):
know.
Mark Kanty (01:26):
Welcome everyone. My
name is Mark. Cool,
Jaimie Skultety (01:30):
they can hear
us okay.
Mark Kanty (01:31):
And we're getting
some ones coming in. When when
we get into the topic here in acouple seconds, I won't
necessarily be seeing the chat.
But Jamie will. So please, we Icall it play in the sandbox with
us. You know, we're all inbusiness. And it's important to
realize that in life, we knowthat being a spectator is now
(01:58):
you know, seems to be theprimary role of most people. And
we know that because we paypeople, millions and millions
and millions of dollars toperform while we watch them
perform well in this arena wherethe performers so I encourage
you to play in the sandbox be aparticipant Don't you know don't
(02:20):
allow yourself to constantly bea spectator but jump in there.
And, and this is a safe place.
And that's why I call it asandbox to is because I want
that childlike, you know, attitude is we're here to have
joy in life and work. And that'sthe reason we do what we do is
(02:42):
to play and to haveopportunities for play and
balance and lightness in what wedo, as well. So I'm just going
to share slides with you. Andthen we're going to go through
some thoughts here and sharesome thoughts with you. And we
encourage you to jump in, leaveany comments and inspirations
(03:04):
you know, in the chat that cometo you leave questions in the
chat. And then after I kind ofgo through this, and hopefully
it's not going to take you know,I'm going to give you a thought
concept. And then we can havesome discussion around that if
you're open to it. Or if youwant to participate in that,
then we're here to do that, too.
So we'll transition into kind ofa q&a or a discussion period for
a short brief period of timejust to see if there's any
(03:27):
insights and anything anybodywants to add or contribute or
ask, if you will. So let me justget my slides in order here.
Jamie, you're recording thisright? I am. Yeah, break because
I know we had a number ofrequests for people that
couldn't make it today. Andtherefore, they've asked for a
replay. And where is my sharescreen? There it is. Good old
(03:51):
zoom. If your windows just alittle bit too small than that,
that's the first thing thatdisappears. So let me get this
up here. And again, play in thesandbox with me and just give me
anybody a few people give mesome thumbs up here, or one if
you can see my slides. Allright. Cuz that's pretty
(04:11):
important. I can anybody at allJamie, you can.
Jaimie Skultety (04:20):
Can you see
them jeans? So I'm assuming
everybody can let us okay.
Mark Kanty (04:23):
I'm not going to
assume. Come on. Give me a one
somebody play play in thesandbox. All right, we got a
one. Thank you. Thank you. Thankyou. Thank you. We appreciate
that. So what we're going totalk about today is a concept of
One essential thing every coachneeds not just to survive, but
(04:43):
to thrive in business. And I'mconfident that you're going to
look at this and say Well, that's pretty simple. But at the
same time, I really am hopefulthat you come away my goal is
that you come away with thisgoing wow, I really leat need to
think about this, I need to dosome work. So today we're going
(05:04):
to talk about the One essentialthing that every coach needs not
just to survive, but to thrivein business, understanding why
you don't have it. And I'mwilling to put that out here
that you don't have it. And theessential steps to get it. So
that's critical. Obviously, youdon't want to just present a
thought. But I want to give yousome action steps and some
(05:25):
really practical strategies sothat, again, you're not just a
spectator, but you're aparticipant that you're able to
take this information and dosomething with it. That's our
goal. Before I dive into that, though, I want to tempt you so
many people tend to grab alittle bit and then run away. So
we all know this. And you know, this, if you're a coach, if
(05:45):
you're a presenter, is we wantto give you a little gift, a
little temptation, a littlebribe, if you will, to stick
around. So please stay, becausein about 10 minutes or so I'm
going to give you a couple ofgifts that relate to this topic.
So there's your, your littlebroad for sticking around and
(06:06):
listening to what we say andplaying in the sandbox with us.
So let me ask you a question. Ifyou knew exactly what you
wanted, and the minimumnecessary to have it, and the
exact steps that would get itfor you in the fastest and
easiest way possible. Would youagree that you would already
have it? Type? Yes, in the chat,if that makes sense to you?
(06:33):
Sounds really simple, doesn'tit? Yet, let's pause for a
minute and just give a littlethought to that question.
Because it's a powerful, powerful question. If you think
about exactly what you're doingin business, and in life,
doesn't it really boil down tothis. So often, we complicate
things too much. And, and we getlost in in the complication we
(06:55):
get, we get stuck in the weedsor lost in the weeds or whatever
the expression is. So why isthis so important? Because the
more clarity you have about whatyou want, the reality is, the
easier it is to get it. Now, theother reality is most people
think they know what they want, but they really don't, I'm going
to talk about that in a minute.
The second reason it's reallyimportant is to develop a
(07:19):
whatever it takes attitude, whenyou know exactly what you want,
then you can commit to doingwhatever it takes to get it. So
isn't that true? If you reallywant something you're going to
do whatever it takes to get it.
But if you're not willing to dowhatever it takes to get it, do
you really want it. Think aboutthat, hopefully your brain is
(07:43):
hurting a little bit by now. Thethird concept here in terms of
why it matters is it eliminateswasted time and effort. It
allows you to be laser focusedon getting what you want. So
you're able to step away fromand ignore the shiny objects
that distractions. Because isn'tthat isn't that kind of what
(08:04):
happens when we get distractedby shiny things when we really
don't know what we want. Thenall of a sudden, we're, well
maybe I want this, well, maybe Iwant that. Maybe if I do this,
then I'll get this, which isreally what I want. But what do
I want in the first place? Andwe get confused, we get we get
distracted by that. So what isthis one essential thing that
(08:28):
every coach needs, not just tosurvive, but to thrive? I'm
going to suggest to you thatit's the ability to manage your
mind. And it begins with aquestion. That question is what
do I really, really want? Now,here's the problem. The problem
is most people think they knowwhat they want, but they really
(08:51):
don't what's the reason forthat? Because they haven't taken
the time to do the work. Thethinking work, followed by the
doing work. Most people aresimply wandering around thinking
that they are thinking, when inreality, they're just reacting
to feelings. So this is reallycritical for you. If you're on
(09:12):
this call, and you're a coach orconsultant, you need to realize
that as a coach, your number onejob is what thinking. Most
people would say gettingresults, you can't get results.
If you're not thinking that'syour number one job. That's what
people will pay you the bigbucks for. So what can we do
(09:35):
about this? What can we do aboutgetting into a mindset and how
can we manage our minds in a waythat's effective, so that we're
not constantly reacting to orresponding to feelings. I'm
going to adjust my slides here alittle bit so I can see things a
little better. So the firstthing we're talking about here
(09:57):
is your what? What do you reallyreally want a lot of people when
they first get into business, they just want money. Or another
thing that Jamie and I hear allthe time, what's the other thing
we always hear Jamie? See if seeif you're charging
Jaimie Skultety (10:13):
money, but it's
always they want more clients,
they want to attract morepeople. Yep.
Mark Kanty (10:19):
And one of the other
things that we hear all the time
is, you know what, I'm notworried about the money. I just
want to help people. Yes. Yes.
So there's, there's a challengein here, though, in that is that
it can't just be vague, itdoesn't work. It does. And most
importantly, it doesn't work foryou. It doesn't work for your
brain, you have to be very, veryspecific. What do you really,
(10:42):
really want. Now, if you're inbusiness, definitely finances is
going to be one part of it. Andif money is not a part of it,
you're in trouble. Because ifmoney's not a part of it,
there's only one reason formoney not to be a part of it,
you're independently wealthy,and you're forming a nonprofit,
you're looking at how to givemoney away. And even then, guess
(11:02):
what the word just came upagain, means it's going to be
involved. So it's really, reallyimportant that we're specific
about a number of things, moneyis going to be one component of
it. But there are lots of otherlayers to this. What are you
passionate about. If you'regoing into business, just to
make money and you don't careabout the topic, you're going to
(11:26):
stall and you're going to fail, and you're going to have
trouble. Because if you're notpassionate about what you're
working on, about your project, you'll run out of bandwidth, you
just won't be able to hold on,you want to have the strength.
We also need to think clearlywhen it comes to what we really
want, in terms of who we want towork with, and who we don't want
(11:46):
to work with. What's What's thatother saying that we often come
across Jamie and we we both beenthere years ago in our
businesses, what kind of personwere we looking for when you
first start out?
Jaimie Skultety (12:06):
Anybody with a
pulse on a credit card?
Mark Kanty (12:08):
Yes. Anybody with a
pulse and a credit card doesn't
work, we really need to thinkvery clearly about the type of
person that we want to workwith. Because if we end up
working with just anybody, andlet's say, we have people that
we're working with, that wereally don't like, that we
really don't jive with thatwe're constantly having friction
(12:31):
with, then there's resistance.
And that drains you and itdrains them. And does that end
up being a good outcome?
Typically not? Typically not. Soand I'm not talking about we
have to work with people that welike or that, you know, we're
we're we're really what's theword I'm looking for in love
with or whatever, we have to beclear, and very specific about
(12:54):
the type of person that we want?
What are their attitudes? Whatare their behaviors? What are
they looking for, and like, these are all really important
things to consider, we also needto consider and this is first
and foremost is what we want ourlife to look like. So give me an
example of this. I was talkingwith a person a few years ago,
as a matter of fact, and he wasa speaker. And his goal was to
(13:16):
get out there and talk to asmany people as he can, he wanted
to travel the world, he wantedto be on stage. And we and we
crunched some numbers. And welooked at what he wanted to look
like what it wanted to looklike. And basically it put him
on the road all the time. And Isaid, you know, there aren't
very many people like you thatare so passionate about the
world that, you know, are like apreacher, and that don't, you
(13:38):
know, aren't too concerned abouthaving their personal needs met
in terms of family, you know, orchildren and things like that,
that they're you know, they'rethey're driven by the world and
that they're kind of like aMother Teresa figures somebody
like that was talking about? Isaid, Well, you know, based on
the goals, you've just set, you're obviously not married or
you know, Johnny said neuronal,I've got, you know, a great
(14:00):
family. I've got kids that arequite young, I love them very
much. And I said, Well, what'sthere's a bit of a disconnect in
here. You want to be out on theroad all the time, and preaching
to the world so that you cankind of build up this loss that
you seem to have in terms offeeling important or having
having your ego boosted. Butyou're willing to sacrifice your
family for that. And it was ahuge aha for him because he
(14:24):
hadn't really thought itthrough. He thought the way to
be a somebody was getting outthere in the world and having
all these accolades, but hehadn't really thought about what
the sacrifices were what he wasgoing to give up on the other
side of that. So what do youwant? What do you want your life
to look like? How many hours doyou want to work? Do you want to
(14:44):
Jamie and I've run into this aswell, where people talk about
building this business, thismega business and he said, Well,
what's your experience inmanagement? Well, I really don't
have much. Well, it's not askill you want to learn not
really. How do you feel? Aboutthe fact that when your business
does get to that level, thatyou're really not going to be
doing any coaching or helpingclients, you're going to be a
(15:05):
manager. Because you're going toneed 10 1215, maybe 30 people,
you're gonna need office space, you're gonna need all sorts of
infrastructure. Maybe it's evena digital or virtual office. But
that's going to be your role inbusiness. And they go, Huh, I
don't want that. Yes. So we needto think about these things.
(15:26):
What do we really, really, really want? The next thing we
need to think about is why wewant it. I like the question. So
what? So if I want this? Sowhat? What's that going to do
for me? Why do I really, reallywant it. And there's a couple of
things. And I've kind of justtold a couple of stories about
(15:48):
this, that give you a hint tothat are really important that
we need to pause and think aboutis that when we think about our
why it's really important thatit's not to prove something to
yourself or to others. If we'retrying to overcome past
mistakes, if we want somethingbecause we're trying to correct
(16:08):
something that happened later,or earlier in life, people, the
kids ridiculed me in the schoolyard, a teacher made fun of me,
because I failed a math test, that's not going to serve you.
If you're trying to provesomething from the past, prove
something to somebody else, oh,I'm going to make those people
(16:29):
pay, I'm gonna make them look atme and see how successful I am.
It's not going to work. It's aninside job. The other aspect of
this, it's really important tonot let your mind go to is you
don't want to be thinking aboutwhat you want, and why you want
it in terms of what I call ashould. In other words, not
(16:50):
because you think you shouldwant it. And this is difficult
stuff. This is why we reallyneed to do the work. And I'm
going to get into the work herein a minute as to how we manage
our brain. But it's so importantbecause society is constantly
shooting on us. Every commercialwe see is telling us we should
(17:12):
have this car, we should havethis, we should have that in
order to be somebody. And that'snot reality, that will what that
will consistently put you inpain and put you in struggle. So
it's really important tounderstand this underlying what
we would call a driver, what areyour drivers. And one of the
things that I've found and allof the people that I've read the
(17:36):
success stories I've read, and Iwould encourage you to be a
reader and a consumer ofstudying other people that you
want to emulate that you youhave great respect for. But one
of the common threads that II've seen through all of them,
is this concept of contribution, this idea of contributing to the
well being of others, it's oneof the greatest drivers. But I
(17:59):
want to put a little conditionin here is that you've got to
start with you. Because you'regoing to only care for others
and serve others to the degreethat you've cared for yourself.
Water seeks its own level. Soit's important to make sure that
your needs are getting met. Andwe'd love to Jamie and I were
(18:23):
talking about this account, remember with somebody a couple
of weeks ago, and I actually puta little picture up on the
screen, I think I've lost thescreen, that picture now or I
deleted it. But you think aboutand everybody knows this story
when you get on an aeroplane andthe flight attendant goes
through their safety protocoland the masks drop down. What
are you supposed to do with thatmask? yourself? First, you put
(18:44):
it on yourself first. And it's awonderful metaphor, because
really it's about life andbusiness is that if we don't do
that, we're gonna die. We'regonna be suffocating. And what
good are we going to be toanybody else? Well, the same
thing in your business. So this, this understanding what we want
(19:04):
and why we want it is socritical, taking the time to
write about this to journalabout it to figure it out. And
I'll give you another thing herefor me. And I've been I've been
at this a long time. I mean,I've been in business and an
entrepreneur my entire life. Istarted in the coaching
consulting space back then wedidn't even call it coaching in
(19:26):
1999. And then that transitionedand I went digital in 2005. And
I've got a thing here, you know,called a journal. So I'm still
doing this stuff every day.
Every day I'm thinking aboutwhat I want. I'm thinking about
(19:49):
why want it. I'm thinking aboutthis next part, which is really
important is my who. And I'm nottalking about who I serve I'm
talking about who I need to be.
Who would you need to be to havethese things that you've
identified? And I'll ask youanother question here. Would you
(20:10):
agree with me that you if youwere already, really that
person? Wouldn't you alreadyhave those things? So we think
the things are going to give usthe beam that we think the
things that we have are going toturn us into that person that we
want to be, but in reality, it'sthe opposite. We have to be that
person first. And where doesthis come from? It comes from
(20:34):
our beliefs. It comes from whatdo we believe about ourselves
and others. So your beliefs arewhat you need to believe your
beliefs determine who you are, which leads to what you do. So
when we think about this for aminute, a lot of people this is
(20:55):
where people skip, right? Theygo, I know what I want. And then
they run into busy work, what Iwould call busy work, they run
into chasing Shiny, shinyobjects and externalities,
they're trying to solve aproblem externally, when it
begins internally, thatmotivation is an internal drive.
And we need to first look at ourbeliefs. Because our beliefs are
(21:18):
going to determine whatdirection we're going to go in
and the actions that we're goingto take. And another little
thing here too, and we're goingto get into this a little bit,
I'm not going to go into greatdetail here. But again, I'm
gonna give you a little littleteaser here that it relates to
some of the gifts that are goingto be available for you for you
in a minute. But we need tofirst look at eliminating,
(21:39):
examining, becoming aware of andthen eliminating false beliefs.
Because we need to make room inhere, we need to clear this out
and make some space. So ourbeliefs will lead to our
actions. What do I need to dodifferently? So we need to
(21:59):
release old behaviors thatsupport old, inaccurate, false
beliefs.
And we need to know how to dothat by asking how do you how do
I feel. So this is where we cancheck in with the feelings.
Part. This is where ourbehaviors tell us if we're on
(22:21):
the right track, is using ourfeelings as a barometer, if you
will, our actions as well aregoing to allow us to adopt new
behaviors and install newbeliefs. Let's talk a little bit
more and dive a little deeper inhere, Jamie, I apologize. I
didn't time this talk. So Idon't know how long I'm gonna go
here how long I've gone here.
But I think we're at about 20minutes, 20 odd minutes here. So
(22:42):
we're okay, we're okay, I hopeto do this at about this little
talk in about 20 minutes, andthen have some chat about this.
But I'm gonna go a little longerthan that. So the first thing we
need to look at when it comes toour what is daily focus, writing
it down having it on yourscreen, I prefer to say write it
down, have it on a post it notehow to have it on a sheet of
(23:04):
paper, but always be referringback to that and you know what
it may change, it likely willchange, particularly as you
start to get into this exercise.
Because as you start to writeout what you want, you start to
look at it, you start to thinkabout it, you start say do I
really want that? And why do Iwant that. And then as we think
(23:24):
and we process through, we'llrealize that that'll morph a
little bit and change. But thekey is looking at it every day.
Because what the mind tends tothe mind begins to believe in
what the mind believes the mindeventually does. So that daily
focus is critical. So this is anexercise that we do in an
(23:46):
exercise book, and then we putit on the shelf. So you got to
think about this. Think aboutthis for a minute, let me get
your brain working, is that ifyou think about our education
system, and how we were broughtup based on the ages that I
think are probably I see on thescreen, and that may be watching
this, we were taught to getfirst of all, we were taught the
(24:06):
shoulds right, what should I bethinking what should I be
answering not how to think butgetting the right answer for the
teacher so that we can get thegrade. And then once we were
done that what happened to thebook, it got thrown out or put
away, maybe put in a boxsomewhere where we weren't
taught to go back and revisitour thoughts and to confirm them
(24:30):
and validate them andcontinuously think about them.
So daily focus is critical. YourWhy is your motivation. That's
your driver. Are you doing itfor someone else? Johnny and I
both share a certain thing. Iwon't go into any details here
but it's a very personal thingthat he and I have a real driver
behind us when it relates to ourfamily. And in how we why we get
(24:55):
up in the morning and put ourboots on and go to work. Is is
that sense of contribution, particularly to family members,
joining give me a nod if I'mmaking sense. So what is your
motivation? What's your drive?
Or what what are those thingsand people that you're
contributing to that make youwant to do this? And what are
you doing for yourself? Which isreally, really important. The
(25:18):
Who? So this comes back to whodo I need to be? And what
changes do I need to make? So Iposted this a walk on, I think
it was probably about two yearsago. But it was, it was this
idea of if I were wantingsomething, how would a person
(25:39):
how would one of my idols bebehaving right now? What would
they be doing? What actionswould they be taking at this
moment in time? And am I takingthose actions? So that's one of
the ways that you can start tolook at this as if I'm not
getting the outcomes I want.
Then I need to change mybehavior and my beliefs. And how
(26:02):
would one of my idols do that?
What would they think? How wouldthey answer, Jamie and I laugh
about this sometimes, because Iuse this as an example with
Jamie, because Jamie sometimesgets and I'm going to disclose a
little bit, but Jamie can get soyou know, seriously intent on
something. And I'll just goJamie, give the question to
Kathy. And ask her how she wouldanswer. Because Kathy has this
(26:26):
ability to just read it the wayit is an answer. Jamie reads way
too much. Like one littlequestion. And Jamie will go off
on this rabbit. Something Yeah.
And she'll get all that oh, thatwell, this and this. And it's
going off in this direction?
I'll say as Kathy and Kathy willsay, Oh, they just want you to
turn it on. Like instead ofmaking it complex, so ask that
(26:48):
person. So Kathy is kind of thatperson that Jamie and I and
Kathy, so that you know this, and I'm sure you do is when
we're having that conversation,I'll often ask Jamie what would
Kathy say? Because Kathy givesus that that outside perspective
coming in that doesn't have allthe the attachments to it that
can come and look at it clearlywith a different set of eyes. So
(27:11):
it's powerful. So who's yourKathy, and it could be somebody
like, I don't know, it could bean aid. It could be a Lincoln,
it could be a couple of mymentors, that are really
powerful that I often think ofis Rich Schefren, who you may
not have ever heard of. But hewas one of my early mentors in
the online space. And I oftenthink what would rich do in this
situation? How would he bethinking? What would his
(27:34):
behavior be? What would hebelieve in order for this to be
true? So who are your mentors?
Are you doing and this is why Irecommend reading biographies
and about people that are doingthings that you want to emulate
people that you want to be likeyour beliefs come around to to
making space because we're full, our calendars are full.
(27:58):
Everybody likes to think, Oh,well, I'll make time well, when
they say I'll make time, how areyou going to make time. Again,
you've got to manage your mindin order to make time. If you
want to adopt new behaviors anda new sense of being you got to
get rid of some of the junk, yougot to clean up the closet. And
we've all got it. So you've gotto eliminate some of those false
(28:19):
beliefs so that you can bringnew beliefs into place. And I'm
going to give you some tools onhow to do that in a minute here.
And then we get into ouractions. And this is how we
install new beliefs and newbehaviors into our way of being
is through daily habits. Johnnyand I have often talked about
(28:41):
not often I shouldn't say often, but Johnny is brought up a few
times. For us the idea of theHour of Power, which I think was
a Johnny helped me who was itthat that first introduced that
concept? Was it was it JimRobbins? Sorry. Tony Robbins.
Tony Robbins. Yeah. And I thinkeven prior to him, I think jump
(29:04):
Jim Rohn was talking about itprobably. Yeah, yeah. So and
there you go. I mean, there's anidea that a universal thought
like that permeates and we hearit over and over again from
different people in the field.
But this idea of starting yourday, and Tony Robbins will use
him him his quote is the Hour ofPower, what do you do to feed
your mind? This is when thesedaily habits are formed. This is
(29:27):
when we take that time to dothat work. So it's not optional.
It's not when I get to it. So alot of people might look at my
behavior and say, what do you doin like the first three hours of
my day we had a blog post aboutthis, you know, I exercise I
feed my body first I read Ijournal, but I do a lot of
(29:49):
inside work in the first and alot of people say Oh, well you
get the money to do that. Notnecessarily. I've always done
this. I've done it's what hadbeen completely be broke,
because it's me that I need towork on first. If I want to get
different outcomes, then I needto be constantly feeding my
brain and thinking differentlyand behaving differently. And I
(30:10):
don't put myself up as somebodythat you know, is perfect or, or
anything I'm doing, I'm on thesame path, the same journey that
we all are, as, as Tony Robbinssays, Jim Rohn, and all these
other guys too. So this conceptof managing your mind, I hope
that you get this idea that weneed to shift our thinking and
(30:34):
do that inner work on ourselvesand constantly be doing it, it
never ends. So I want to pausefor a minute here. And then the
next thing I'm going to do istell you about these little
gifts that we have for you. Butlet me do that now.
(30:54):
I don't know I'm tempted to makeyou wait, get into some some
insights from everybody. Butlet's go ahead and do that now.
So So I've promised, you know, there's a couple of things that
we want to give to you a coupleof special gifts, if you're
interested in them. One is anamazing little book called The
path by Frank Kern, it's a PDF.
So I got it, we're happy toshare that with you, Frank Kern
(31:18):
is, is another one of my mentorsand people that I read and
follow and study and listen to.
And the other book is a kind ofa booklet, a workbook, really,
that I created based on theworks of Rich Schefren. And it's
called the hidden objects, obstacles to getting what you
(31:40):
really want. This is a workbook.
So both of these books are notjust something to sit down and
look at academically. But theseare both books that are going to
force you to think, unfortunately, do some work. And
what I mean by work is writing, journaling, changing yourself
and the way you think. So if youare interested in receiving
(32:01):
these little gifts, let us knowjust type path or the path I
should say, in the chat or inthe comment section path or the
path. And that will kind ofcapture it all we'll know. And
we'll reach out to you and findthe best way to get those to
you. So that you can, you canthen go to work. So just go
(32:21):
ahead and let us know that. Andwe'll do that. So the next thing
I wanted to jump into here wasbefore we kind of transition to
the chat and the comments andquestions, I just want to let
you know if you're a guest onthe call here, these are calls
that we began, we kind of made atransition early in the new year
(32:42):
to change things around a littlebit. But these are our client
calls where we begin with alesson and a talking point. And
then we transition into what wecall our implementation call,
which means our clients come tous with specific questions about
what they're working on, andwhere they maybe they're stuck
somewhere. Or maybe they'rehaving wins and successes. And
(33:03):
we transition to that with ourclients. So if you're a guest
here, we really appreciate youbeing here. And we're going to
go to q&a here with you in amoment. And then we're going to
end that and then we're going togo into closed session with our
clients. But we're gonna hangaround here and make sure that
we have some dialogue with anyof our guests. But if you are a
guest, and you aren't familiarwith us, we just want to let you
(33:26):
know my name is Mark Canty. Mypartner is Jamie Skald. Teddy,
we'd be happy to talk to youabout what we do in greater
depth, but I don't want this tobe a commercial. But if you're
looking and ready to implementa, you know, a step by step
system, for a coaching business, that's going to earn you a full
time income and not just a youknow, a full time income where
you feel like you've you'retrading time for dollars, but an
(33:48):
exceptional full time income, atrue business, return on
investment, doing what you love, without being stressed or bogged
down in things that you don'tlove, and that you don't want to
do, then book a time to typechat with us. And we're not into
you know, slippery sales tacticsor heavy pitches or anything.
But we're we're happy to talk toyou about that, and talk about a
(34:11):
game plan. And maybe we justhave a chat and kind of give you
some ideas as to what directionyou might want to consider for
your business. Or maybe youdecide from talking with us that
you want to dig deeper and findout about what it would be like
to work with us. So just wantedto introduce that concept to
you. You can go to this link, which is upscale your
business.com forward slash gamedash plan. And there'll be a
(34:33):
little questionnaire there and aplace for you to put your
information. And we'll set up atime to have a chat. Now, let's
get back to our topic at hand.
So obviously we had some goodcomments here from earlier on.
Clients who anyone who has awallet and hopefully something
(34:56):
in the wallet that was relatingback to to how many times when
we first started in business,we're thinking about anyone like
Jamie says, with a pulse on acredit card. And hopefully
you're now thinking moreaccurately about that. comment
here. Our question, and I've gotmy chat up now. So, Jamie, I can
(35:18):
go ahead and read that. Okay, how do you know who you need to
be in order to reach a level youhaven't reached? So there's a
few questions in this comment.
So that's, that's a greatquestion. So I think first of
all, there's a couple of thingsfor me, and I'm going to maybe
wax a little philosophicallyhere is that for me, I tap into
something I call my innerKnower. Some people who maybe
(35:43):
are religious call that the, their Holy Spirit. Some people
would call it the universe. Butit's that moment of pause, to
just pause and let your innerknowing let your beliefs kind of
come to the surface around thatand say, Who do I need to be in
(36:04):
order for this to happen? So letme see if I can kind of put a
metaphor to this. If I wanted tobe if I wanted to win a Golf
Championship, I don't know why Ibring golf up, because I'm not
even a golfer. But let's say Iwant to win a Golf Championship,
then in order to be that I'mprobably going to look at other
(36:28):
golf champions, I'm gonna saywho's really good at this, maybe
it's just in my local community, maybe it's, you know, I want to
win one of those big prizes, whatever they are the green
jacket thing, forgive me, yougolfers in the crowd. But the
point being I'm going to pausefor a minute and say, Well, what
did they do? Well, they, ifthey're a golfer, they probably
practice how often do theypractice? This information is
(36:50):
all readily available? How manyhours a day? And what do they
practice on? You know, I know,I've heard that those who the
real winners in the game put apermit tremendous amount of
emphasis on the short game. Inother words, they're putting and
getting out of the sand trap.
And those the the short parts ofthe game is where they're going
(37:10):
to win the game. So I've heardthat that so I would think that
and I think this came fromSheena. So I would start to
think about what are they doing?
And then what do I need to do inorder to do that? Well, maybe I
need to get out to the golfcourse every morning, maybe I
need to get up an hour earlierand start to behave like a pro
golfer would if I want to winthe championship. So you can
relate that to your specificsituation. So look for mentors,
(37:33):
look for role models, look forpeople study people who are
doing what you want to do, studypeople who are achieving what
you want to achieve. So that'sanother place to go. So tapping
your inner knowing first pause, get quiet in yourself, do some
writing, do some journalingabout this, who would I need to
be? And what might surface foryou as well, I need to be I'm
(37:57):
going to bring it up again.
Because I use the example forI'm going to I'm going to need
to be like Abe Lincoln. In orderto get that kind of an outcome.
Oh, what then? What would AbeLincoln do? Well, now I might
pick up a book on Abe Lincoln,or I might read some stories
about him related to thisspecific thing that I want to
accomplish. So that's going totake me on that path. So hope
(38:20):
that gives some ideas thereabout how do you know who you
need to be in order to reach thelevel you haven't reached? Yet?
If you don't have that innerconcept of who that person would
be look for others that aredoing that? Others who are being
that person? And then look atthose as being your role models,
if you will. Second question, how do we know what we need to
(38:43):
do in order to reach the levelwe're trying to reach? So the
doing comes from the being? Soagain, you got to come back and
say what are the behaviors Ineed to adopt first, and out of
those behaviors will come thedoing? So I already gave you
some examples of that, like thegolf example would be what do I
(39:04):
need to be doing? I need to bepracticing. Here's another
example. And it just blows mymind. But when, when people
people say and I've, I've been alittle sidebar here. I'll
sometimes play in the chats andstuff like that in groups. And
it always amazes me particularlyin coaching ones where somebody
will pose the question. If Iwant to be really successful
(39:25):
coach, do I need to have acoach? And how many people? This
shows me why so many people arefailing? Probably 70 80% of them
say no, no, you don't need to dothat. Does that make any sense
to anybody? How can you possiblyhave belief in what you're
(39:46):
doing? If you're not evenwilling to practice that
yourself, invest in it investthe time and at the energy, the
money in it. So and I also thinkabout if you want to be a
professional, so I want to be aprofessional coach. I want it to
be my profession. I want to makea living doing this. I want to
make a good living doing this.
Well again, think aboutprofessionals. Think about
football players. Think abouthockey players think about
(40:08):
golfers, how many do you knowthat have gone all the way to
the top that you know by namethat said, You know what, I
never bothered with coaches, Ijust figured it was kind of an
optional thing. I made it allthe way to the top all by
myself, I DIY the whole thing.
Anyone, I don't know of anyonethat can possibly achieve
(40:31):
anything great without gettingoutside perspective, without
having a coach. So this conceptof coaching is going to is and
that's what you do. So if youdon't, you know, believe in this
yourself, you're gonna have ahard time building a business
around it to me, I always havecoaches on the go, Jamie with
(40:52):
our business right now we've gotmultiple coaches that we're
paying for, to work withspecific parts of our business.
Now really important to kind ofrewind on this a little bit, is,
we only hire a coach, when wehave a specific goal we want to
achieve, well, we know exactlywhat it is we want, then we can
hire the coach to help us getit. So you know, it's, it's,
(41:14):
it's not the idea of maybe I'lljust follow the shiny object and
think, if I learn from themenough, maybe I'll really want
what they're offering. Don't dothat. Okay, next question here
was, I think this kind ofrelates. So great example here,
you know, an example some peoplethink they need to wear certain
(41:35):
clothes in order to be amillionaire. This isn't true,
but they might think it's truein their ignorance, since they
haven't reached that level yet, even though it's their goal. So
again, I would take look beyond, you've already kind of answered
this question and look beyondthe surface. As a matter of
fact, in our space, and notreally in our space, not in the
coaching space so much. Butthere are the internet is full
(41:58):
of shiny objects. And there's alot of get rich, quick
charlatans out there scamartists, and a ton of them more
than in the brick and mortarworld, like really an awful
propensity of them. And there'seven people that teach people
how to Photoshop how to how togo to a marina and stand in
(42:19):
front of a mega yacht, how toget a Rolex, for a day rent a
Rolex, how to rent a Ferrari, and how to take these pictures
of themselves as being this ubersuccessful person when they're
flat broke, or they're in debtup to their eyeballs. So that
they think that if they projectthat image, people will follow
(42:39):
them. So these aren't the kindsof people you want to follow.
And I hope when you really startto get into the, the, you know,
the needs want some valuethrough yourself, you'll realize
that and as I said, trying toproject something, trying to be
something for somebody else, ortrying to prove something to
yourself or somebody else fromsomething in the past, that's
not a way to be successful.
That's not a way to have a lifeof joy and fulfillment and
(43:04):
contribution. And I'm, I'm boldenough to say that's not just my
opinion, I think that's a commontruth and reality. So those are
I think I ran through if therewere any other questions and
lots of people want the path andand that we'll we'll definitely
get that to you. We've got yourname. So we'll reach out, we'll
(43:28):
find the most convenient way toget those resources to you. So
again, if you want thoseresources that I posted those
two books, the workbook in thebook, the book, kind of
workbooks really thin put thepath or path in the chat, and
we'll make sure that we getthose to you. Any other
comments, questions, thoughtsaround this concept? of managing
our mind?
Jaimie Skultety (43:53):
And if you if
you raise your hand, we can
unmute you or you can unmuteyourself actually even
Mark Kanty (43:58):
um, yeah, you've got
in the chat. So feel feel free
to jump in if anyone has acomment or a question or a
thought they'd like to share.
