From the Battlefield to the Boardroom: Alan Davis on Resilience, Reinvention, and Rising to Run

At Veteran Lifestyle Magazine, we’re dedicated to sharing the raw, real, and remarkable journeys of veterans who continue to serve their communities long after hanging up the uniform. Our recent livestream podcast was no exception, as we welcomed a guest whose story is both powerful and profoundly human: Alan Davis.

From the rugged terrains of Afghanistan to the creative chaos of digital entrepreneurship, Alan’s path is one of transformation, perseverance, and purpose. And it’s one we’re honored to share.

Alan Davis didn’t initially see himself in the Army. Like many young adults facing limited opportunities, he enlisted more out of necessity than passion. But what he found in the military—camaraderie, structure, and a deep sense of purpose—laid a foundation that would shape the rest of his life.

His deployment to Afghanistan was a turning point. The challenges were intense, but they forged resilience and adaptability that became invaluable in the civilian world. After his service, Alan found himself in an unexpected role in the funeral and cemetery industry. Though impactful, it wasn’t the mission he was meant for.

Alan’s search for fulfillment eventually led him to a new battlefield—entrepreneurship.

Combining his creative instincts with a desire to help others, Alan co-founded Faction Media, a digital marketing agency focused on supporting veteran-owned businesses. Through Faction Media, Alan works to empower entrepreneurs with the tools and strategies they need to thrive in the modern marketplace.

What sets his business apart isn’t just technical know-how—it’s authenticity. Alan brings the same unfiltered honesty that served him in uniform to his work, helping clients cut through the noise and connect meaningfully with their audiences.

Alan is quick to acknowledge that transition from military life isn’t easy. It’s a process—one that requires self-awareness, patience, and above all, a willingness to explore.

"Find your mission," he advises. "It might not be obvious at first, but it’s out there."

One of his most powerful messages is about the healing that comes through helping others. By shifting focus outward—serving, supporting, and uplifting—veterans can find a renewed sense of purpose and peace.

Never one to stop at a single endeavor, Alan launched the Rise to Run podcast, a platform for stories of grit, growth, and triumph. The podcast isn’t just about veterans—it’s about anyone who’s faced adversity and found the strength to rise.

Each episode is a testament to the power of perseverance and the belief that our greatest challenges can become our greatest sources of strength.

Alan Davis reminds us that life after the military isn’t the end of service—it’s just the beginning of a new kind. Through his work, his voice, and his unwavering commitment to authenticity, Alan is building bridges between military and civilian worlds and inspiring others to do the same.

Whether you're a veteran charting your own post-service path or a civilian seeking motivation, Alan’s journey offers a powerful message: Resilience is the real mission.
