On this episode of Veterans 4 Recovery you’ll hear from John Magnuson. John is a person in long-term recovery who worked behind the scenes on the parity act. The mental health parity act is a federal law that requires health insurance plans to provide comparable coverage for mental health and substance use disorders as they do for medical and surgical care.
John also works with a 12-Step immersion program. 12-Step immersion programs use the 12-Step model of Alcoholics Anonymous. 12-Step immersion programs provide low cost and highly effective residential services for people living with a substance use disorder.
John's newest project is a Recovery Ranch in southern Minnesota. In this setting, people in recovery will be able to practice the principles of recovery in a beautiful setting communing with nature.

Intentionally Disturbing
Join me on this podcast as I navigate the murky waters of human behavior, current events, and personal anecdotes through in-depth interviews with incredible people—all served with a generous helping of sarcasm and satire. After years as a forensic and clinical psychologist, I offer a unique interview style and a low tolerance for bullshit, quickly steering conversations toward depth and darkness. I honor the seriousness while also appreciating wit. I’m your guide through the twisted labyrinth of the human psyche, armed with dark humor and biting wit.
