(00:00):
So today, we are talking about atopic that is really dear to my
heart, which is.
Using video as a tool forself-expression in the journey
of getting past the fear ofvisibility.
And I can talk about this topicfor days on end because I've got
so many people who I've workedwith that benefited from using

(00:20):
video as a tool forself-expression and then going
on and branching out and doingother things.
But actually it gave them thatabsolute launch path that they
needed to then first.
Not only get comfortable withshowing up as more of
themselves, but then theunintended benefits of having
done that was actually theirability to then speak freely,

(00:42):
speak from the heart, speak withflow, and speak in a way that
actually genuinely connects andcreates that chemistry.
With their audience, which isreally hard to achieve with a
templated, with a framework wayof speaking, uh, which you just
can't find or completelyreplicate with AI so, today I
wanna talk and delve a littlebit deeper into all of the

(01:06):
reasons why people feel the waythey feel, and why.
This topic comes about in thefirst place and how my
introduction into, overcomingthe fear of visibility has led
to me being able to speak andpresent with confidence in a way
that's actually more geared withmy own visibility capacity, with

(01:27):
my own visibility profile, andwith my own goals and strategies
that I have in place.
So with that being said.
Let's dive in to the actual realreasons why you know, you might
be feeling held back on accountof your visibility or maybe the
fears that you might be feelingwith putting yourself out there.

(01:49):
Now there are typically fourreasons why people feel the way
they do, is primarily becauseeither from a fear of judgment,
it could be because of,perfectionism, this is
especially true if you have beenin a setting where the default
is or was.

(02:09):
Crossing your T's and dottingyour i's in every single
respect, bearing in mind thatthere is a lot more pressure on
women to, take more care at,either editing themselves or
conforming into spaces where ourvoices will literally be
limited.
And so I think there's a lotthat goes into the whole

(02:31):
equation of why women.
Are feeling and facing thesefears in the first place.
And that, I actually coveredthat in my other podcast, which
is, why it's hard to find, yourauthentic voice as a female
founder.
So you might wanna check outthat episode as well if you're
tuning in.
The third might be the fear ofexposure.
Where you feel like everyone iswatching you or the fear of

(02:54):
being or feeling overperceived,, with a range of
reasons Because of genderedreasons quite often, harking
back to perhaps, your past, orthe way in which you were
brought up.
And so being mindful of those asyou are going through, because
these are the things that aregonna come up in your visibility
journey and I'm gonna be givingyou examples of how video can

(03:14):
actually work with thesesymptoms rather than against.
Them so that you can start tobuild on your voice in a safe
space.
That is, honoring your life andprofessional experiences and not
isolating from them with acookie cutter, one size fits all
approach to showing up., Butwith using the tool as a way in

(03:37):
which to heal and, uh, comethrough the other end.
And how you can best do that, especially if you're a female
founder for whom visibility is.
Important in many differentways.
Yes, there are ways to bevisible without using social
media, but let's face it, socialmedia is the superhigh in which
you can be visible quickly andget people into your world, if

(04:00):
you do want to build a presenceonline, i'm not just leaning on
one medium to do things becausepeople are everywhere and you
need to be omnipresent in thisday and age, and which is part
of the reason why the videoaspect and the reason why.
Video can be used as a tool tocombat.
The fear of visibility is soimportant in this discussion

(04:20):
because it literally is thegateway or the padlock that you
get to unlock to then be able toroam freely in the meadow of
visibility.
And so, um, and so on thisjourney of visibility, the, the
fear of exposure is really, isvery real.
And some of the things that canbe in place is, say for example,

(04:42):
you may have certain channels.
That you want to avoid becausethey create a certain amount of
anxiety now rather than pushingthrough that anxiety entirely.
It might be better to have amore customized approach for
that platform, and it's notbecause of the reasons being
that you editing yourself, butit's actually because you are

(05:04):
protecting yourself and you'reprotecting your voice.
You are actually able to expressyourself in a format that best
suits you.
But with giving due credence tothe fact that there might be
some channels or some instanceswhere you don't feel
comfortable, maybe it's onaccount of, some trauma from the
past that you might be carryingIt really is for you to be able

(05:27):
to today do a stock take andsay, you know, where do I
actually want to be visibleversus where do I not want to be
visible?
That is a discussion that youneed to have with yourself in
this journey of visibility.
The fourth reason being that, quite often, these days more so
than ever before, I think youand I would agree that having a

(05:48):
voice.
Has many repercussions and, itis amplified by, incidences
overseas across the world wherepeople have been crucified for
having their voice, be known, being activated, and throughout

(06:10):
the ages.
Those who have had a strongpoint of view or really stood up
for what they believed in orstood for, has sometimes had to
face the consequences of beingdisliked.
And therein lies a really bigissue in itself when it comes to
visibility.
Because if you think about us asfemale founders, the

(06:34):
conditioning that has been inplace for centuries has been
that you have to be.
The good one, you have to be,the one that is the carer, the
nurturer, the whatever, the, themany different titles that come
along with you.
And that's not to negate orminimize the issues or the
troubles that males have if youare a male listening into this.

(06:57):
However, this is really abouthighlighting some of the
systemic issues that women faceas a result of.
All of the historical andgenerational facts and truths
that have already happened andalready been in place, and what
we can do to dismantle and workaround them rather than work

(07:18):
against them.
And so when we are working withthem, such as, say, for example,
on a certain channel where wemight feel misunderstood, it's
really important for us torealize that.
Through the journey of makingsome choices we may need to make
peace with the fact that theremight be certain channels that

(07:38):
we are not ready for from acapacity perspective or because
we might have circumstances inour life that prevent us from
showing up on that channel.
Whatever your reason might befor that, and you don't have to
explain yourself.
For why you're not visible on aspecific channel.
And so, the pathway toovercoming this has really been.

(08:01):
Translating and reframing the afear of visibility into, that of
empathy for yourself and empathyfor creating the space to really
listen to your own voice, createthe space for listening to.
What are the guiding lights inyour life that actually lead you
to a, to a path that is beyondyourself?

(08:24):
What are the unfulfilled needsand wants that you haven't yet
created in your life?
Perhaps you are a young mom withyoung children at the moment,
and.
You are listening into this andyou're thinking, well, you've
lost a really big sense ofyourself, or you've lost a part
of yourself that maybe once was,and now you're wanting to
reclaim parts of that.

(08:45):
Or maybe you are, a mom who isalso an entrepreneur who is
juggling multiple things and youare feeling fragmented and
you're feeling dissected and.
You know that there are manydifferent parts of you that are
hidden away, but there are onlycertain parts that can come out
at certain times.
So it really is about taking anempathetic angle to your journey

(09:07):
of visibility while stillmaintaining a certain cadence.
Before you can get intoconsistency, and there are many
different tools to help enableyou to do that.
One of them being video.
So the way in which I have usedvideo in the past was actually
using video as a tool forself-expression.

(09:29):
Now there are ma variousdifferent ways in which you can
use video as a tool forself-expression.
One of them is using video inprivate.
And so here's a quick actionablething for you to be able to do
across.
Five days in five or lessminutes, which is simply
creating a script for yourself.

(09:50):
So the script might be, threewords that come to your mind
that you wanna be known for asan example.
And then you might start byintroducing yourself and
speaking to yourself for thefirst five days in front of the
mirror.
And literally, introducingyourself with your name and

(10:10):
saying, this is what I standfor, these are the three words
that I want to feel once I havefinished, my ultimate visibility
journey.
Once I've come to the pinnacleof my visibility journey, this
is how I want to feel.
And I want you to say that outin the mirror for five days.
Once you've done that, or maybeif you've kind of gone day

(10:30):
three, you know, like, okay, this is starting to get a little
bit, repetitive.
What you can do is you can pullout your phone, pull out your
camera on the phone, and startrecording the exact same thing
that you wanna say your name andyou know what you want for
yourself in the future, andrecord that for five days.
Record that every single day forfive days.
This is literally gonna takeyou.

(10:51):
Less than five minutes.
I don't want you to judgeyourself as you're doing this.
So go away and do that.
And then once you have donethat, send me a DM okay at at
Content Halo.
And I would love to reward youfor having done this across five
days and giving me an insight ofwhat it felt like for you.
And I would love to send you agift for having done this small

(11:14):
exercise.
So.
Go and, practice this.
Send me a DM with the wordmagnetic, and I would love to
send you a little gift, so thatyou can make use of that, you
can avail of that resource toreally help you find, activate
and amplify your voice online.
So, that is one of the ways inwhich you can use a really

(11:34):
quick.
Trick to actually start on yourvoice and visibility journey is
actually by having some privaterituals.
And once you've created thoseprivate rituals and had some
micro movements that actuallyhelp move the needle and move
the dial for you, it's thengoing to help activate a part of
you which is like, yes, I can dothis.

(11:56):
It's going to build those neuralpathways in your brain, and that
really is the bridge.
To then finding out how all thatyou have inside of you, the
different parts of you that arefeeling fragmented, fractured,
or otherwise, can actually startworking together in unison and
bringing out more of who youare, which is.

(12:16):
Using, using video as the toolfor greater self-expression.
Now, I love using video as atool for greater
self-expression, and the reasonfor that is that it actually
rips the bandaid on yourpersonality in a way that no
other medium does.
When you're writing, you canedit yourself, you can go back

(12:38):
and create and you know, uh,cross those t's and dot those
i's.
And procrastinate and thinkabout it.
But when you are live, you saylike, like I'm recording live
right now.
This is not based off of script.
This is completely me shootingfrom the hip.
There is no framework.
Well, I had a framework, but Ikind of, I'm not really using it

(12:59):
and I'm really speaking from mysoul and I'm really telling my
story here.
So I want you to be able to comeinto this flow and the way in
which to come into that.
Flow is, think about yourself ashaving had a hip replacement.
Okay?
If you've had a hip replacement, you are gonna need for the first
maybe three months, a crutch, you're gonna need a couple of

(13:22):
crutches at least, um, so thatyou can start exercising your,
your legs, your muscles aroundyour body, with a view to
actually starting movement againby the end of three months.
You may only use one crutchevery now and again if say your
hip plays up, maybe after sixmonths you will be heading off

(13:42):
to the beach and jumping in thewaves.
So if you really correlate thatto your journey of being on
video, video really can be areally transformative tool to
help you with unpacking all ofthat, that fragmented that's
inside of you.
In a way that deeply connectswith your ideal audience, and

(14:04):
right now in the age of AI,where trust is at an all time
low, the best way in which foryou to really amplify your
presence online is invest yourin your time using video as a
tool or as a key.
To unlocking greater levels ofvisibility for yourself first,

(14:25):
before you are ready to bevisible for someone else.
So in this way, what you'redoing is actually turning that
angle of fear into empathy firstfor yourself.
Because you've gotta put youroxygen mask on first before
you're ready to, you know, holdsomebody else's hand.
Get them to run along after youto help them go a bit faster or

(14:45):
run, increase their runningspeed or whatever it is, you
know?
So you've really gotta use thatas a crutch for yourself in
order for you to then haveempathy for your audience.
Because once you have empathyfor your audience, that's when.
Your voice starts to flow.
That's when you can startshowing up.
That's when you can get deeperand more magnetic with your

(15:06):
content.
It's when you are in motion,it's when you are in flow, is
when fear really falls away andgives way to flow.
And that flow then createsmomentum.
That, and that momentum is thenwhat causes that flywheel or
the, the movement that you're sowanting and wanting to create in
your life and in your business.

(15:26):
If you are listening to this, and if you, do give this a whirl
with my, strategy on how toactivate your voice in private,
then send me a DM with the wordmagnetic, and I'd love to be
able to send you a little giftyour way.
Now I wanna talk about who, thismight be good for.
So this is for you.
If at any point you feel likeyou have been editing yourself

(15:50):
for other people, secondguessing, about what you said,
feeling a little bit held back.
On account of visibility onsocial media in particular, and
feeling as though, what you wantin your head are the words that
actually come out of your mouthwhen you start speaking them.
Those are all signs and symptomsof needing video to help you as

(16:13):
a tool for self-expression.
In a bit to help you get morefreedom and flow with speaking
and presenting online.
And so if that's you, uh, and ifyou want to know how you can do
that, by creating that magneticpresence for yourself, then.
Message me with the wordmagnetic and I'd love to be able

(16:33):
to send you a guide your way.
So with that being said, I hopeyou've enjoyed this little
podcast and I would love areview if you have enjoyed it,
and I look forward to seeing youin the next one.
