Hello and welcome to the
vlogging pod.
In this episode, we're diving into
the recent 60 Minutes interview with
the head of this administration.
Instead of focusing on the sound
bites that filled headlines,
we're taking a closer look at

(00:25):
the substance behind each major claim
made and what the facts
actually show.
He began by blaming Democrats for
the ongoing government shutdown, saying they
wanted to give money to prisoners,
drug dealers and millions
who came from mental institutions.

(00:47):
That claim is false. The
real disagreement was over restoring
certain healthcare subsidies
previously cut from the Affordable
Care Act, or
what some may know as
Obamacare. There's no proposal that
gives federal health coverage to
undocumented immigrants. And no

(01:09):
evidence that anyone is
funding mental institutions or releasing
people to claim benefits.
Next, the head of this
administration credit tariffs for record
stock market highs and booming
401K's, warning that
if the Supreme Court limited

(01:30):
his tariff powers, the
economy would collapse. Economists
have long disputed that, framing
tariffs. Are paid by US
importers and typically
passed on to consumers,
while market performance
depends on a
wide mix of global
factors, not one policy

(01:50):
lever. Courts
are still reviewing the extent of
presidential power on tariffs, but
there's no credible link between those
powers and sustained market growth.
When questioned on
ICE raids, he insisted the
agency is deporting the

(02:10):
worst of the worst, but
current "federal" data contradicts
that. Syracuse University TRAC program
reports that around 70% of
people detained. By
ICE have no criminal
convictions at all. Many are
nonviolent workers or family members

(02:32):
swept up in a broader
enforcement actions. On
the subject of domestic unrest, he
claimed he could invoke the Insurrection
Act in a heartbeat and
that no judge can challenge it.
A statement is exaggerated. Courts can

(02:52):
review whether such an order
is law. Presidents have used it,
with the most recent being
during the1992 Los Angeles riots,
which was hardly
routine. He
asserted that the United
States has more nuclear

(03:13):
weapons than any other
country. According to
the Federation of American
Scientists, that's incorrect.
Russia's total stockpile
stands at roughly 5,459
warheads. Compared to
the US at
5,177. While
the US may lead in

(03:35):
deployed strategic warheads, it
does not hold the overall
numerical leap.
When discussing China and the
AI chip race,
he said he would prevent
companies like NVIDIA or
selling the most advanced
chips to

(03:56):
China. That
claim lines Up generally with
current export restrictions.
But his tone implied a
personal directive rather than an
existing bipartisan policy framework.
It's true the US continues
to tighten its grip on
advanced chip technology,

(04:17):
but it's also true that
several restrictions predate this
administration. Finally, he
denied knowing Binance founder Changpeng
Zhao, whose conviction and
plea agreement with the Justice
Department made headlines
in 2023. He dismissed the
case as a Biden witch

(04:40):
hunt, even though Zhao
pleaded guilty and. Paid
significant fines, the issue gained
further attention because of a
mention of a potential pardon.
Discussed an extended
footage of the interview, raising
questions about selective editing and
political optics. Today's
