According to the Hindu tradition, Arjuna was Nara in a previous birth, with Narayana as his companion. It is believed that they continue to perform penance for the benefit of mankind. Explanation In the Hindu tradition, Arjuna performed penance to Lord Siva to gain Pasupata. Siva tested Arjuna's valor by disguising himself as a hunter. After a long fight, Arjuna realized that the hunter was Lord Shiva. Siva blessed Arjuna with the Pasupata and other celestial weapons.
