The Organ Artists Series of Pittsburgh will present Caroline Robinson Sunday June 22, 2025 at 4pm at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland. She joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 2024. With Fulbright support, Dr. Robinson studied in Toulouse after spending four years working on her degree from the Curtis Institute studying with Alan Morrison whose mom, Jeanine Morrison, was the duo piano partner of Mrs. Fred Rogers, Joanne. Caroline Robinson’s PhD and Masters degrees are from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with David Higgs. She is from Greenville, South Carolina and recently served as Organist and Assistant Choirmaster at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta. Dr. Robinson speaks about her program on the Beckerath organ and how she shaped it with Bach, Max Reger, Mathias Weckmann, Sebastian Aguilera de Heredia, Amy Beach, Mendelssohn, Anton Heiller and Gottfried August Homilius.  Brian Gurley, Director of Music and organist at St Paul Cathedral, runs down the plan for organ recitals at St. Paul in the summer of 2025 and tells Jim Cunningham about his decision to become a priest. He’ll continue to play as part of his ministry. Caroline Robinson suggests why you should study at the University of Michigan and said she knows of the Beach Boys classic Caroline No with music by Brian Wilson but she has not had a chance to look into Wilson’s organ literature. She is delighted to return to Pittsburgh and hopes to visit the Carnegie Museum of Art while she is in town.
