(01:12):
Are you ready?
Let's walk.
Hey Deva, hey, listen, it'sthat Money Talks series.
Now, I don't know if youlistened to it If you didn't go
back and listen to where Italked about money and family.
Oh, they can be like oil andwater, right, but once you make

(01:34):
that decision to, I'm going toleave my family behind just for
a minute to make the money thatI need to get to where I need to
go.
The next thing is well, how doI make it Money?
Making money is easy.
Let me say that.
Let me start there, and if youdon't have it, it's because

(01:56):
you're not working towards it.
There are so many things thatyou can do and I think one of
the biggest reasons is you needa coach to help you, because you
don't know what to do, how todo it, where to go, what your
options are and all the thingsright.
So I want to talk to you todayabout making money, because it's

(02:19):
time to stop the excuses ofbeing broke.
All you talk about is how brokeyou are.
If you want more, you wantbetter.
But I always say do you reallyor are you just lying to
yourself?
Because it sounds real good.
It sounds good to say oh, youknow, we're here around people

(02:43):
and I want more.
I've been on this job for 10,15, 20 years.
I only get a 50 cent raise, 75cent raise every year.
I'm never going to be able tohave more than what I have now
doing.
What I'm doing, I havebusinesses in mind that I want

(03:04):
to create and do and all thethings.
That sounds real good, right, when you just talking about it.
But then opportunity knocks andthen you have all the excuses as
to why you can't.
I don't have the money rightnow to invest.
It's a scheme, it's a scam, Idon't know how.

(03:27):
I don't have a mentor, I don'thave a coach, I don't have time.
When I get off of work afteryou know, working my nine to
five, and it's really it's anine to five, eight hours, which
is really like 10 hours an hourago, and, like you, have all
the excuses Lil Johnny got hisfootball game, lil Susie got her

(03:50):
chili, then practice, then theygot soccer and band, like all
the things.
And honestly, they're allexcuses.
And I'm going to tell you whythey're excuses Because your
life is the way that it isbecause of decisions that you
have made when you became anadult, and it is just that plain
example.

(04:10):
There are so many options outthere and this is going to be a
rough conversation and somepeople may say, mary, you are
not being sensitive Y'all.
So when I tell you something isin my eye, but I'm going to get
it, just don't mind me.
You can hear me clearly, right.
So it is all about all thereasons, all the excuses, right

(04:34):
and so, but the truth of thematter is your life is the way
that.
It is because of decisions thatyou made.
No-transcript.
I decided to have a baby at 22years old.
That was my decision.

(04:56):
I decided to move to a placethat I had never been before and
the only person I knew was mybrother, who I moved with.
That was my decision.
I decided to spend my moneyfrivolously right.
I decided to spend my moneyfrivolously and not manage it

(05:22):
the right way.
Right, and do all the things Iwas big enough and bad enough to
do.
That was my decision.
I decided not to save andinvest and just all the things.
Those were my decisions and Ican blame it on life, life, life

(05:45):
as it does each and every day.
But the response to life isyour responsibility, and
sometimes you got to pull upyour bootstraps, roll up your
sleeves and make some toughdecisions as to am I going to
just have my knees buckle andbow down to what life is

(06:11):
throwing at me, or am I going topick myself up, make some tough
decisions, get out here, makethe money that I want to make
and move on and not look atevery opportunity that comes my
way as something that is notSome of y'all.
Y'all know, y'all heard thatstory.

(06:32):
It's a couple of stories thatI'm going to give you, but this
one right here I've heard itsince I was a little girl that
it was this man that was sittingon the roof of a house.
A flood was coming in andbefore the rain got high, a car
came and tried to pick him upand he said no, god's going to

(06:56):
save me.
Here comes the rowboat, becausethe rain is now high, right, so
it's like a river.
So here comes the rowboat andthey say come on, get in.
No, god's going to save me.
Now the rain, the water isalmost up to the peak of the

(07:20):
roof.
Here comes the helicopter.
Helicopter drop the ladder down.
They like grab a hold, come on,get on so we can save you.
No, no, no, you go right ahead, god's going to save me.
And then you see God and youlike God, is this heaven?

(07:44):
Am I still?
And he like yes, you have died, this is heaven.
And you're like man, god, Ithought you was going to save me
.
And he, looking at you likefool, I tried to.
I sent you a car, I sent you aboat and I sent you a helicopter

(08:06):
and you didn't take none of it.
I was helping you but youdidn't see the opportunity
because you were expecting me tocome a different way.
And a lot of y'all are makingthe money that you need because
opportunities are coming and youare looking at them one way,

(08:29):
when it's a resource that youneed that is being brought to
you so you can make your way out.
You know, I remember a timemoney was tight, money was real
tight, and I just I was justlike, okay, now I'm not getting

(08:54):
no second job, been there, donethat, have worked the two jobs
thing where my baby was littleand I was like I just I can't do
that again, like no, and so I'mlike, what am I going to do to
start making money?
Because, again, money is easyto make, it is easy to come by,

(09:18):
and there's a difference betweenyour passion for what you're
doing and a season to do whatyou need to do, until you can do
what you want to do.
And I was in that season.
I knew what my passion was.
I knew that my purpose wastalking to you, it was coaching

(09:43):
and mentoring you.
It was helping you to discoverright, to discover what it is
that you want to do and help youactually do it Right.
That was it.
It was to help you discover itand help you do it.

(10:08):
I know that was me so years ago,hit a bad patch.
Financially it wasn't horrible, but it was like, okay, we need
some extra cash in this houseand I knew I didn't want to work
a second job.
So I said, okay, well, what areyou going to do?
Because you got to do something.

(10:29):
You make too much money to relyon.
The government Didn't want todo that, but couldn't if I did
want to.
So God said use what's in yourhands.
And I'm like use what's in myhands.
Because many of you, like me,are multi gifted, multi talented

(10:51):
, you have many skills.
That's why I know money is easy, and so I love, I can bake, I
can cook very well, and that'swhat he showed me.
And so this was during the time.
It was, you know, cupcakes werecoming up left and right, and so

(11:14):
I said well, let me, let me trythis.
And I was a team mom for youthfootball team.
My husband was the head coachfor the football team and I said
you know what?
I'm going to bake some cupcakesand I'm going to take it to the
park.
So I baked some cupcakes, tookit to the park, gave them away

(11:39):
Okay.
Lesson number two.
The first lesson wasrecognizing opportunity when it
comes your way.
The second lesson is sometimesyou have to give it away for
free before you start makingmoney for it.
So we, I started, I took somefor free.

(12:00):
Oh, my God, they loved it.
They absolutely loved it.
Right the next week I did adifferent flavor, took them to
the park again, gave them awayfor free.
Then people started saying well, mary, do you, do you sell
these?
I'm like, yeah, I do, I sellthem.
And they was like how much?

(12:23):
I said $26 a dozen, okay, andthat was for your standard
cupcake with regular icing, homemade from scratch, okay, in
that box.
And it was like, oh, can youmake strawberry cupcakes?
Sure, and then I startedgetting orders and the cupcake

(12:46):
orders turned into cake orders.
Where, mary, can you make acake?
Yeah, I can make cakes.
Now let me tell you somethingfunny.
They weren't just talking aboutBaker cake and slap some icing
on it and give it to them likethey taken it to a cookout.
These are the decorative cakes, right, that you see on TV.

(13:06):
Yeah, I had never made one inmy life.
I had characters, not the fancyicing designs, none of it.
I went to the school of U2B, u2bUniversity, yes, right.

(13:27):
But when they asked me, I hadso much confidence in my skills
and what I could do, even thoughI had never done it before, I
said, sure, I can do it.
I got my order, I went home, Ilooked at the design that they
wanted, I Googled and YouTubesome stuff, and when I tell you

(13:49):
I delivered, I delivered.
You would have thought that Ihad went to school for it, right
, that I had been trained bysome great cake chef and I
hadn't.
This is what I did because Iknew what I needed, right.

(14:12):
And so then order startedcoming.
Order started coming and thensomebody else said, well, I took
some food or something to anevent and they was like Mary, do
you?
Can I say, yeah, I cater.
And I named my businessHeavenly Hands Catering and
Bakery, right, and that was thename of my business.

(14:36):
And so I started getting ordersfor catering events.
I started catering churchevents and Christmas parties and
birthday parties and y'all it.
I mean it was going very well.
So then people started saying, mary, why don't you open a

(14:58):
bakery?
Or why don't you open a brickand mortar?
And I had to say, no, I don'twant to do that, because I
understood my purpose.
Versus a season of, I just needsome money.
I knew this wasn't a foreverthing.
Now, longterm goal, I will havemy restaurant.

(15:20):
I just won't be in the kitchencooking in it, but I will have
my restaurant longterm goal.
But to be in in a hot kitchenbaking or as my source of living
, no, that that's not what Iwanted to do.
I knew that.
So so lesson three know whatyou want to do and know what

(15:43):
you're not willing to do.
Okay, so I.
So I started doing order andeverything was going well and
people were like you know, whydon't you do do that and open a
bakery and do all of thesethings?
And I'm like no, that's notwhat I want to do.
I'm good.
I'm good with taking the ordersthat I need.
So I knew if I was short orsomething, I could push my

(16:10):
heavily hands baking andcatering, get a couple of orders
.
And I was good, right, as Istarted working on building what
I wanted to do long term.
So some of you all have skillsthat you can absolutely monetize

(16:31):
.
You all know how to bake andcook.
You know how to sew right.
You know how to crochet.
You know how to administrate.
You know how I mean.
You have so many gifts.
You are the social media guruthat you are always on.

(16:57):
You know how to teach peoplehow to build their audience.
You know I mean anything andeverything.
You like woodworking.
You know how to teach that orsell what you do Like it is so
easy, because the truth of thematter is God did not create us

(17:19):
to for us to have the onlyinterest in a thing.
So if you love woodworking, youare not the only one out of the
billions of people in the earththat love woodworking.
But you don't need to servicethe billions of people in the
earth.
To make some money real quickfor you, you need a couple of

(17:41):
hundred dollars for your bill.
Make something and sell it.
You need a couple of hundreddollars on a bill.
Take your knowledge and sell it.
There is somebody out therethat needs a skill that you have
.
Making money is easy.

(18:05):
There's the network marketinggame out there.
Some of y'all like, oh God,network marketing.
Listen, network marketing put alot of money in my, in my house
over the years.
Okay, because whatever I sold,I found somebody that needed it
or wanted it.
Okay, so people look at networkmarketing like it's a scheme or

(18:29):
scam.
It's not.
You are anything you do.
You have to market to yournetwork.
You start your own business.
Who going to purchase yourstuff?
You got to have a network.
How do you get your network?
You have to market to it,that's all.
Net, that's all.
Network marketing is Okay andyou can get paid to do that.

(18:53):
You can get paid off of theservices and you can get paid by
referring people.
Oh, that's a pyramid, that's ascheme.
Is it really so?
Macy's has a sale and they sayyou know what?

(19:14):
We are trying to beef up ourrevenue for this month.
It's typically a downtime, sowe're not only going to have a
sale, we're going to have afriends and family bonus and so
anybody that you refer to Macy'sthat come and shop, that uses
your code, you're going to get apercent of it.

(19:36):
Y'all will hop all over that.
Y'all will be telling everybodytheir mama, their cousin, the
sister, the brother.
Y'all be digging people out thegrave trying to tell them to go
shop at Macy's here, use yourcode so you can get a percent of
it and not think anything twice.
But when they use the networkmarketing name around it, it's a

(19:58):
scam, a subspeed and it's apyramid.
It is not Okay.
So that's just one avenue, andthere's many of them out there
to do many different things.
Find one that utilizes or hasthe product or service that you
like.
If you like makeup, do Mary Kayor Avon.

(20:19):
It's a whole bunch of otherones out there, right.
If you like wellness products, you can do Melaleuca and what's
that?
Tlc I mean, it's a bunch ofthem.
Do that.
If you want travel, there aremany travel ones that are out
there.
If you want financial services, the sky's the limit.

(20:45):
It is no reason why you're notmaking money, and it's not about
this making money season thatI'm talking about.
It's not necessarily about whatyour passion is, what you feel
your purpose is and what youwant to do for the rest of your
life, this thing that you wantto build.
It's about creating some cashflow so you can start having

(21:12):
some relief in your lifefinancially, so that you then
can start building what it isthat you need to build Money is
a tool and it's a tool to beused.
The next episode we're going totalk about money management.

(21:34):
I'm going to talk about thisthing of relationship with money
.
Yeah, that's going to be aninteresting conversation.
Making money y'all is easy.
If you are not making money, you're not trying.
If you're just praying aboutmaking money, you're not going
to make it.
Because the word says faithwithout works is dead.

(21:58):
You can have all the faith inthe world, but if you are not
working for it, the manner isnot falling from heaven.
The suitcase full of money isnot underneath the bed.
The banks are not going to loanit to you because if you strap
nine times out of 10, you don'thave the credit to even borrow.

(22:19):
The family is not going to giveit to you because they just as
broke as you are.
The friends are not going togive it to you because most of
the time, if you broke, the fiveto 10 friends around you are
broke too.
You know that.
Saying you want to know your, ifyou want to see your value or

(22:45):
your worth when it comes tomoney not who you are as a
person, but money, look at yourcircle Right.
So you're not going to get itfrom them.
So how are you going to do itand when are you going to make a
decision to do it?
It's time to decide now.

(23:08):
Sell the couch.
Sell the couch, give up theapartment and find somebody to
move in with and save somebodyLike it is.
It is so much but anything thatwe feel as an inconvenience, or

(23:29):
somebody's going to look at usa different way, or they're
going to talk about us, orthey're going to be worried.
You know saying these thingsabout us and we don't want to
appear this way.
Man, that's old y'all, becausethe same people that you are
worried about that's talkingabout you.
They need to be doing it too.

(23:49):
They broke too.
They need money too.
They might have a dream thatthey want to pursue too.
So who cares what it looks liketo anybody else?
It's about you and your goalsand what you want to do.
So stop making excuses aboutbeing broke.

(24:16):
This pandemic that we had hascreated more millionaires than
any other time.
Yeah, in a pandemic when peoplesupposedly were getting laid
off of their job and not working.
You hear the stories I got laidoff, I didn't know what else to

(24:39):
do.
I ended up starting thisbusiness and now their product
is on the shelves in Walmart, their products are in boutique,
their products are being soldall over the world Because they
were pushed in a corner.
So it was either die or comeout fighting.
But why do we have to getpushed in the corner and only

(25:03):
have those options to die orcome out fighting instead of
making a decision where you are, especially if you're working
and you're making some type ofincome to build upon that and
have it a little easier thandying or come out fighting?
I'm just saying there's abetter way.

(25:26):
So, divas, stop making excusesabout making money.
Making money is easy.
Figure out your gift, which youalready know, what you can do,
and do it and do it again, anddo it again, and do it again.
And if you're going to investin something, invest in somebody

(25:50):
to help you do it and watchyour life change.
Yo, let's go get it.
And I'm not talking about letme say this before I end I'm not
talking about chasing the bag.
Don't chase no bag.
That ain't of God whatsoever.

(26:13):
That is not.
There's no way.
In scripture he told you youhad to chase the bag.
He said all things will beadded unto you.
That's what his word says right.

(26:34):
Seek ye first, the kingdom ofGod and his righteousness, and
all these things will be added.
It means addition.
That means it's coming behindyou.
The money and everything isgoing to come if you be obedient

(26:55):
and just do what he's supposedto do, what you're supposed to
do.
See opportunity when it comes.
Don't denounce everything as ascheme and a scam and this and
that.
Stop making excuses of why youcan't and start creating your

(27:16):
reasons of the detriment it'sgoing to cost you if you don't
Make a decision and do it andwalk in it, and the money y'all
is going to come.
So y'all, that's my time.
I love y'all.
Ain't nothing you can do aboutit.

(27:39):
Let's go out here and get thismoney, this mula, this denaro,
these coins.
Let's get the bag, not chasethe bag.
Be blessed, live on purpose andlet's walk All right, divas,

I know you weren't runningaround the house checking for
cameras, looking under the bed, looking out the window to see if
I was watching, because I wasall in your business.
