What if your greatest limitation became your most powerful ministry tool? In this soul-stirring conversation with Prophet Sonja Washington, we explore how shifting our mindset from "I can't" to "Think I Can" transforms not just our perspective, but our entire reality.

Sonja vulnerably shares how her visible limb difference initially trapped her in shame, only to become God's vehicle to bring hope to others. "He took my legs, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me," she reveals, challenging listeners to reconsider their own perceived limitations. Through powerful personal stories, she demonstrates how the words we speak literally create our environment – making our self-talk either our greatest ally or our most destructive enemy.

The conversation dives deep into the prison of perfectionism that keeps many believers stuck. We explore how Adam and Eve themselves weren't created perfect (they came from dust!), freeing us from impossible standards. Sonja's insights on developing an over-comer mindset provide practical tools for anyone battling negative thoughts, generational trauma, or spiritual stagnation.

Most powerfully, Sonja reminds us that true transformation happens in community: "God will surround you with people where you're going, not where you are." Her book "Think I Can" offers a roadmap for breaking free from mental bondage and stepping into divine purpose despite – or perhaps because of – our limitations.

Ready to break free from what's holding you back? Listen now and discover how changing your thinking can change everything. Then visit thinkican.org to continue your journey with Sonia's transformative book.

(04:38):

Lord, god, as you continue touse us to speak to your people.
So, lord, whatever comes out ofour mouth, let it be all of you
and none of us.
As we decrease, that you mightincrease.
So, god, I thank you.
We give you glory, honor andpraise, and it's in Jesus name.
Amen and amen.

(04:59):
So listen y'all.
We are starting this readingedition.
I'm excited to talk about thisbook Think I Can written by
Sonia.
Most would know her as SadieWashington.

(05:20):
So, listen, I was excited toread this book and I selected
this book to read for this monthand because, shout out to, she
Reads I am a part of the sheReads challenge.
I'm super excited about that.
The Lord put a mandate on meand said you need to do more
reading, continue to write, butdo a whole lot more reading,

(05:41):
because I'm a writer by nature.
So I said okay, lord, I hearyou and I'm seeing and reaping
the benefits of doing as muchreading as I've been doing thus
far.
Now, this particular book isvery interesting.
Why do I say that?
Because I actually I'm actuallythe publisher of this book

(06:01):
y'all.
So I know most would ask well, why are you reading a book that
you published?
I'm glad that you asked.
You see, being a publisher isone thing, but being a reader is
another.
When I have the publisher haton, I have the perspective and

(06:22):
the eyes of a publisher.
So what I'm looking for is theflow of the book.
Will it draw the attention ofthe reader?
I'm looking for the grammaticalerrors, I'm looking for the
voice of the author.
These are the things that I'mlooking for as a publisher.

(06:43):
But then, when I take thepublisher's hat off and put on
the hat of a reader, my God, Iget to dive in and also be fed
and be blessed by the literatureand the context that is in the
book.
So a lot of times I find myselfeven with my own books.

(07:05):
Have you ever authors out therethat have written books?
Have you gone back and readyour book and said, my, my, my
goodness, I wrote that, lord.
Now, you know you did that.
Oh, this is good right here, because, even as an author, when
we are writing our books, weare literally one of the things

(07:28):
that I love to share with myclients when I take them through
and I coach them and I mentorthem through the writing process
.
I tell them listen, trust Godas your ink pen and just flow.
Don't worry about thegrammatical errors.
Listen, I'm giving y'all aright until I hope y'all taking
notes.
Don't worry about what you'rewriting about, don't worry about

(07:49):
how it sound.
Just flow as the Lord flowsthrough you.
Trust him as your ink pen.
So a lot of times, when you arethat author and you're doing
just that, you don't get theopportunity or the advantage to
go back and really dive deep inand fully read what you have

(08:10):
written.
So I challenge y'all authors ify'all have not done it already,
I challenge y'all, after youpublish your book and it's
already published and out therego back and sit, take the hat of
the author off and put the hatof the reader on and I dare you
to read it because, just as theBible, I don't care how many
times you read it, you're gonnaget a new revelation.

(08:31):
Even as an author, I don't carehow many times you might read
your book that you read, godgoing to show you something
different and you're going to beblessed in a different way.
So listen, y'all ready to comeon this journey with me as we
interview Sonia Washington andher book.

(08:52):
Think I Can Listen.
I'm excited and I'm ready todive in because there was some
really, really juicy stuff andI'm going to tell y'all, me
reading this book, there weresome things in there that was
speaking to my now.
It was speaking to my now andit gave me a reminder of a lot
of things.

(09:12):

Listen, I'm not going to wasteno more time.
And I'm not going to waste nomore time.
I'm just going to go ahead andbring our guests on.
I'm super excited.
Hello, hello, hello, hello,sadie.
Prophet Sadie, how are you thisevening?

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Welcome.
Good evening, prophet Alicia.
I'm doing fine.
We had a really great week andso this is a highlight of that,
of that.
As we conclude and going to theweekend.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Yes, that is amazing.
That is truly, truly amazing.
I am super, super ecstaticabout Listen.
I love it when God does thingsover the weekend and prepares us
for what's to come.
I love it when God does thingsover the weekend and prepares us
for what's to come.
He does a mighty, mighty, hedoes mighty work and he is

(11:23):
always blowing our mind and heis always revealing himself to
us.
So I want to go ahead and diveright on in.
I want you to go ahead.
Tell the people a little bitabout yourself.
Talk about yourself a littlebit before we dive into this
book.
Tell them about yourself.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Well, I guess my first purpose or first career
was and is a leader of people.
I have been leading peoplesince I was 19 years old I'm
going to date myself here, butthat's coming up on 30 years and
I really enjoy ignitingsomeone's hidden talents that

(12:01):
they may not know.
A lot of times we think verynarrow of ourselves and so many
times as leaders we can see thehidden gems or the diamonds in
the rough inside of you and Ihave been able to ignite those
in several people that I've ledover the years and they've gone
on to have great careers.
And those are the things thatreally fill me up in leadership

(12:22):
not so much myself I talk aboutin a book that I'm drafting now
and reading and building for nowis that many of the leaders
today focus on utilizing thepeople around them to propel
their own career.
For me, I have always elevatedmyself in the workplace by

(12:47):
elevating others, so, as peoplecontinue to develop their skills
and grow, the talent that Ihave within me was highlighted
because I was able to do thatand partner with that person.
So I believe equal success Ifeel like an equal failure when
we work in team environments.

(13:07):
So that's a first passion ofmine as we flow over into this
subject matter.
I am convinced that the largestprison on earth is the mind, and
many people are locked intotheir singular thinking or even

(13:27):
maybe a few things that theythink they can do.
Maybe a few things that theythink they can do, but I truly
believe and I've lived this outover all these years that Think
I Can is a concept and a way ofliving that has godly principles
in it, and I have been verysuccessful just with the first
thought of I can do something.

(13:47):
So I'm also a mother and I'malso a business owner, so I have
a lot of things on the fire, which keeps me very focused.
But also I want to highlightthat I am a member of Shiloh
Sisters, which is a group ofwomen that gather together every

(14:08):
October and we just worship theLord, we have classes, and so
that has helped me prepare, propel my life into ministry and
as well as the mentorship ofApostle Sharon Peters-Ruff.
So that's just a little bitabout me, but I'm sure you have
a lot of questions that'sawesome.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
That is awesome, that is amazing.
Listen I do?
I do have quite some questionsand as I was reading, when I was
reading, and even the titleitself, think I can.
It reminds me of one of myfavorite scriptures that I like
to read backwards.
It's funny because the Lord heshared with me one day as I was
reading his word and he wantedme to go deeper.

(14:59):
There was a few scriptures thathe was like read it backwards.
And when I read it backwards itgave a whole, a deeper
revelation and it spoke to me insuch a different way.
So just thinking about thetitle of your book, think I Can,
it reminds me of the scripturePhilippians 4.13.

(15:21):
I believe that's one of thescriptures as children or at
least I can speak for myselfthat was one of the scriptures
that we had to memorize, remember and know front to back
address of the scripture andthings of that nature.
But it's interesting because inmy adulthood, when the Lord
told me to read that scripturebackwards, the scripture says I

(15:44):
can do all things through Christ.
That strengthens me.
And so when the Lord said, readit backwards, he had me read it
in a way that said in ChristI'm given strength to do all
things.
Look, I'm getting excited to beable to do all things.

(16:17):
And even with the title Think ICan.
I thought about Paul.
I think myself happy Okay.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
It always is that mindset yeah definitely.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
It always that mindset.
Yeah, definitely, I definitelywant to dive into that and in
and ask you because there was apoint, y'all, y'all gonna see me
looking down because, as you, Ihave her book right here with
my notes and my highlightsbecause there was some things
that I was like, oh, I want totalk about this and oh, I want
to talk about that.
I want to first go into shame.

(16:55):
That's the first thing I I wantto dive into shame and and I'm
gonna read this, quoting inquote straight out the book it
says shame is a weapon of theenemy, a tactic to keep us stuck
in bondage.
It has a strategy to keep youfrom walking into your destiny.

(17:17):
It is a silent assassin keepingyou in continual defeat.
It will keep you fromunderstanding how much you have
accomplished and underestimatinghow much you can achieve.
Estimating how much you canachieve.
I highlighted that because ittook me to when I was first

(17:39):
diagnosed in 2022, when theyofficially, permanently was like
you disabled.
It was like you disabled and itwas like my world went caving
in and crushed down and myperception at the time was I

(18:07):
didn't want to go back to church, I wanted to isolate myself, I
wanted to stay in the house.
I didn't want to go outside.
I didn't want to go back tochurch.
I wanted to isolate myself.
I wanted to stay in the house.
I didn't want to go outside.
I didn't want to go anywherebecause I didn't want nobody to
see me in this condition, because everybody knew me as the
woman with the crazy faith.
If God say leak, she'd be likeokay, lord, how high.

(18:31):
So now I'm in this condition, Ihave this thing going on, and
it made my faith look weakbecause it was like or at least
I felt that way, that was myperspective, that's how I
perceived it, and I was crushedand I was just like in my mind I
said Lord, I'm damaged goods toyou, now you can't use me.

(18:57):
I felt like a burden to myfamily, especially my husband,
because I couldn't care for mychildren.
I couldn't care for myself much.
What God?
What God?
What God Y'all?
God had to send an examplebecause I'm going to say how the

(19:24):
Lord said to me.
He said I will surround youwith people where you're going,
not where you are, we will.
The Lord had to connect me toSadie, prophet Sonia, because
her disability is visible, whereas in mine, y'all look at

(19:47):
me and like what's herdisability, what it called when
it at?
I can't see it.
Mine's is not as visible.
So god surrounded me with herand allowed me to see her live
her life with something that wasphysical, that everybody in the

(20:11):
world could see, to cause me torise up and get up from the
place that I was in of feelingshameful and embarrassed, and
give me strength to continue topress forward and move forward

(20:32):
and go forward.
And he also showed me You'renot damaged goods, don't you see
that I'm using her, so whycan't I use you?
A broken crown can be broken, but it can still be used.

(20:55):
So tell me those that had thatmindset, because I think, thank
the lord, my mindset ain't therenow praise the lord.
Those that have that mindsettell me how, because that that's
a place of prison yes, it is.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
It's a place of prison and it's a place that you
unbeknownst to you, that youmight be residing in, because
shame is one of those things insociety we don't discuss enough,
because I believe it's tocontinue the perpetual
environment of I'm not goodenough or I can't do this, or
because of my background orbecause of my disability, or

(21:27):
because I don't have this, orbecause of this or because of
that, or because I was, you know, mistreated or, you know,
abused, or because I'm not fromthis, or because of this or
because of that, or because Iwas, you know, mistreated or,
you know, abused, or because I'mnot from this country.
I mean, we can go on and on andon about, because of, and and
those are the quiet things, andthe quiet things that you hear
in your mind and your spiritthat keep you from going to the

(21:49):
places that you're destined togo.
That keep you from going to theplaces that you're destined to
go.
It keeps you accepting thestatus quo in your life and not
reaching for more.
And that's where the enemy canjust really mess with your mind
and just play with your mind, make you feel miserable all the
time.
And I won't tell you, I have myhighs and lows, but I took a

(22:12):
long time to come out of shameand I think that I put a nail in
a coffin of shame when Ipublished this book.
It was like it was like theLord said it was.
It is done.
And so I just see, I see shame,I see people operating in shame
and I just want to come closeand just minister to those

(22:33):
people and help those people outof that darkness.
But and another thing of shameis grief.
I am I am really I see this alot now because people around my
age group are losing people and, for any other reason, locked
in shame.
Shame of grief, like I'm stillgrieving my mother, I'm still

(22:55):
grieving my loss of my friend, but I can't break free of this
and I don't know how.
And I'm shameful because peoplewill say why I'm still shame.
So I mean, it covers aprevalent of things that could
keep you locked and bound andand so, um, with the spirit of

(23:15):
the Lord, he can break you free.
But I think that a lot of timesthe scriptures come alive when
you have a physicalrepresentation or the testimony
of someone that was able toovercome what you are
experiencing and in that itmakes you just think.

(23:38):
And the Lord revealed to me atime ago I would say it was
about six years ago a woman in aprevious job I was working for
Nissan and she came up to me andshe said I just watched you in
the parking lot.
Take your chair out, get out ofthe car, walk to the car, or,
you know, walk on my stumps tothe car, get the chair out, get

(23:59):
my, my bag out, which included, you know, my work stuff, roll
all the way into the office andgo up on the third floor and sit
down and begin to work.
And she said, the lordconvicted me for complaining
about my current disposition, which was far less now.
Now I'm going to tell yousomething about myself.

(24:20):
I don't think that I was givena bag, deck of cards, if you
want to say, you know how theyhave that phrase.
I don't think that.
I think that we all have stuffthat we have to overcome.
Most of my stuff just happensto be visible.
Okay so, but it's not more thanyours.
You understand, the Lord iswise, so the things that you,

(24:43):
that he uses to buffer you, asPaul talks about in scripture,
um, it's just the same as mine.
It still has the same dynamic, but um, but what I would say?
That's how I feel.
I know some people don't thinkthat, but um, so I don't look at
it as I have it at worst, but Ilook at it as God gave me a key
to help you deal with yours.

(25:04):
And even if I never open mymouth around you and I just
operate in the way that I can, without legs, you can see the
glory of the Lord through mylife, which also can rest on you
my life, which also can rest onyou.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
That's good, that's real, real good, and that's so
evident and true, because thereis no.
Did you know that y'all we'retalking about disabilities and
having a disability, whether itbe physical, or whether it be

(25:45):
visible or invisible, whether itbe a physical disability, a
mental disability, but did y'allknow that you can also be
disabled spiritually?
Did y'all know that you canalso be disabled spiritually,
mm-hmm?
True, you might have not beendiagnosed by the world of a

(26:07):
disability, but did you know, spiritually you can become
disabled, mm-hmm.
So let me ask you this For onethat is experiencing disability
spiritually, how does one comeout of that?

Speaker 4 (26:28):
I know it is to have a fire for learning the Lord
intimately.
So that will involve someconsecration, you know, pulling
away from everything.
You know having time with him, reading his scripture, praying,
also maybe getting a mentor, butreally getting to know God for
yourself, not who they say he isgive you, but truly experience

(26:58):
and have an experience that isunexplainable to me.
That will change your life.
And so in the scriptures itteaches you who you are to him.
You're his child.
He loves you.
Many times people think of Godlike this big ogre.
That's always talking about howbad we are, but that's not

(27:19):
talking about how bad we are,but that's not really the
emphasis of what he is.
He does love us and he doeshave where.
He disciplines us, but justlike our parents, when we get
disciplined to make sure that weare going the right way, he
will do that too.
But it's all based in love.
And so when you begin to reallylearn who he is and focus on

(27:39):
that and then begin to ask whyam I here?
You know we just come out of aseason it's almost five years,
probably two weeks from nowwhere COVID hit our land and we
had to pull in and secludeourselves to be able to stay
alive.
Many of us lost people and manyof us didn't make it.

(28:03):
But I speak to those that arehere now and I say why are you
here?
I know God is intentional andhe has a purpose for all of our
lives.
And if you're still here, youstill have a purpose that is
mandated in the realm of thespirit and it is your job to

(28:25):
seek him in relationship, tofind out what is it that he
needs you to do.
And when you begin that processand you really really start
trying to hold his hand insteadof touch it.
So I give an example whenthings go bad, we are on our
knees, we praying, we callingwhoever's the prayer word in our

(28:46):
lives and we're saying can youpray for me?
Pray for me, oh, my goodness.
I don't know how I'm going toget through this, but that's
when we focus on him and I callthat going to the altar and just
touching his hand.
But when you get to the pointwhere you take his hand and your
hand is in his hand, then thosethings that are on you, that

(29:10):
you believe that you cannot doif you're operating in shame, or
all the other things lack offaith, or lack of faith in
yourself, or doubt, or all thesethings that are ugly, will
begin to peel off of you andyou'll look up and say I'm not
the same person anymore.
I'm not this person, I'm notthat person.
They used to call me moody.
I'm not moody anymore.
Oh my goodness.

(29:30):
I used to be offended byeverything.
I know who I am in Christ.
So you can say one thing aboutme and I'll never be offended by
it because it's not true.
So, taking his hand, and if youdon't know necessarily how to

(29:53):
do that, get a mentor to helpyou take his hand and develop an
intimate relationship with Godis the first answer.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
That's good.
That's good, that's good, rightthere.
Listen, this is Walk it OutInspirations podcast.
We are here with Prophet SadieWashington.
We are talking about her book.

It's starting to heat up andit's providing so much knowledge
and so much wisdom Having anunderstanding of who God is for
yourself.
Not for what your mama told you,not for what your papa told you

(30:41):
, not for what the preacher toldyou.
Do you know who God is foryourself?
She said one key wordexperience.
I can recall listen speakingabout that experience.
Listen y'all.
Two years ago, I went to aplace called the shallow

(31:08):
experience.
Let me tell you something, boy,was it an experience?
Yes, so, listen, y'all, shoutout to the shallow experience.
Yes so, listen, y'all, shoutout to the shallow experience
that is founded by ApostleSharon Peters Ruff.

(31:30):
It is definitely an experience.
With that being said we aregoing to take a commercial break
.
Y'all stay tuned, because whenwe come back we're going to dive
even deeper and talking aboutthe mindset and the many

(31:52):
experiences that we experiencewithin our mindset.
Y'all stay tuned, we'll be back.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Lord, who am I, that you are mindful of me.
Whatever follows I am is that'swhy you got to watch your own I
am statement.
I am tired, I am, I'm sick andtired, I'm this, I'm so
disgusted I, whatever follows Iam, is I wouldn't be able to

(32:24):
minister like I could ministerwithout an experience and I'm
not just talking so y'alltestify about the experience of
being jacked up and theexperience of the breakup and
the experience of the loss andthe experience of walking out on
you and the experience, but I'mtalking about the experience

(32:46):
with I am the lord continues toappear at shiloh and there he
revealed himself.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Every year in Chicago Illinois, the I Am meets us at
the Shiloh Experience.
Are you ready to have anexperience like no other with
the I Am?
Are you ready to shift intoprospering God's way?
Prospering God's way.

(33:22):
Register for this year's ShilohExperience happening at the
Westin Chicago Northwest onOctober 17th through 19th.
There's day classes, ministrysessions, sisterhood, love and
fellowship.
To register today you can go towwwsweetroseofsharoncom.
That's wwwsweetroseofsharoncom.

(33:46):
See you there.
Listen, that's that sweet roseof champs.
But listen, I was there forthat dynamite.

(34:07):
You hear me?
yes, yes here's another thing Iwanted to share with y'all about
this, um, shallow experience.
There's another book that Ijust finished reading, last
month.
It's called the Five StarChurch.
When I tell you, I would haveswear that Apostle Sharon's

(34:29):
Peter Roof read that book, because, when I tell you, the
experience that I had when Iwent was everything that was
mentioned in this book.
It was a five star experience.
Five star experience.

(34:50):
You felt the love, you felt thepresence of God, you felt the
fellowship.
You felt like this is where Ibelong.
I fit right on in.
It was amazing.
So, listen, if you want to havethat experience, as we talked
about getting to know God foryourself, and that was the other

(35:10):
thing it wasn't so much aboutthe speakers that were there and
the different sessions that wehad, everything that happened in
shallow experience pushed youcloser to God.
Yes, yes, as he said, draw nighunto me and I will draw nigh
unto you.
Yes, if you want to have that adeeper experience with God for

(35:35):
yourself, with God for yourself, definitely go to
wwwsweetroseofsharoncom and goregister, listen it is a
worthwhile investment.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
Sometimes we have to invest in ourselves.
Oh, you know, I want to saysomething about that.
A lot of times we are pouringinto everyone else and we're the
light.
As women, a lot I'm speaking towomen, and some of some men are
playing this role as a singlefather.
But us women, whether we'remarried or not, we're the light,
we're pouring everything in andwe we have a lot of darkness

(36:15):
going on right now in thisnation, so to say, and a lot of
things going on that is verydisturbing.
So one thing I want to encourageeveryone is be intentional to
put yourself in places of light.
You will need it because allthe negative energy around us
you could lose hope easilyaround us, you could lose hope

(36:38):
easily, and so be intentionalabout not just going to,
possibly considering going toShiloh Experience, which I am a
Shiloh sister as well as amentee of Apostle Sharon
Peters-Ruff.
It's important that the lightyou are involved and connected

(37:00):
to light.
It's amazing how this group ofwomen come together and support
each other through so manythings, and so why we're talking
about that in relation to mybook is because I would not be
an author had it not been forProphet Alicia and Apostle
Sharon Peters-Ruff uh, prophetAlicia, and uh, apostle Sharon
Peters-Ruff, you know, um, Isaid you have to some things.

(37:28):
You have to have a mentor orsomebody to walk you through um
the birthing process or tocreate, or how do I get across
this hurdle?
I know how to do this, but Idon't know how to do that.
And both of these women havebeen a dynamic impression of my
life, as the Lord has been usingme to impress on them.
They have impressed on me, andthat's exactly what goes on in
that community.
We encourage and lift up eachother through prayer and

(37:51):
presence, and so you know, ifyou don't join us, just make
sure that you're intentionallyyou're intentionally placing
your room yourself in rooms oflight.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Yes, that that's really really good.
I mean, the Bible says.
He said in his words who arebetter than one, let iron
sharpen iron.
And he said that that's whatwe're supposed to do.
As we love one another, we'resupposed to uplift and build one
another up.
These are the things that hedesires for us to do I want to
talk about.
You made mention of somethingthat was so powerful in your
book, and it was in chapterthree Overcomer Mindset.

(38:35):
Mindset you said the words Iformulated in my thought process
and spoke out of my mouthcreated my environment.
Jesus created my environmentand built a vision of who I saw
myself to be.
That was such a powerfulstatement because you want to

(38:55):
know what that reminded me of.
That reminded me of God in thebook of Genesis.
He spoke everything intoexistence.
That's why he says in his wordthat the power is in our tongue.

(39:17):
We can speak life or we canspeak death, definitely so.
I want to.
I want to ask you, I want todive a little bit deeper into
that, because one of my otherfavorite scriptures that I
always say and that I walk onand it ties into what you're
saying.
He said that he made my tongueas of a pen, of a ready writer,

(39:40):
so I want to go into that.
You said that you realized thatit formulated, it developed who
you were.
So you mean to tell me what Ispeak out of my mouth develops
who I am.

Speaker 4 (40:01):
Yes, I can.
Let me take you back to when Iwas about 13 or 14 years old and
at that time I was playingwheelchair basketball and I had
the pleasure of traveling acrossthe nation.
I went to Chicago, maryland, texas, just different places.
And I remember being in Texas, just different places, right.
And I remember being in Texasand Dallas, texas.

(40:22):
And we went to this restaurantand the reason why I imprinted
on me, two things happened thejalapeno pepper was so hot, they
had to bring me bread and milkand I will never forget it was
so hot, I thought my, my tongueand my lips were going to burn
off.
And the other thing I remembersaying I said I'm going to move
here one day, the power of thetongue.

(40:46):
About six, seven years later, Igot it, packed up my car and my
clothes and had already landedme a job, transferring from one
location in Kansas City toDallas, and I went about my way,
all by myself, to make a lifeand build a life for myself here
.
And so, although I went backhome for a little bit while I

(41:06):
was pregnant with my son, I cameback in 2011.
So, what you speaketh, so iswhat you thinketh, so is he, and
I believe what you speak.
So is he.
Because what happens is Iformulate in my mind there's
another thing that's medicallynot possible.

(41:26):
In my diagnosis I'm notsupposed to be able to walk on
my stumps.
But guess what?
I decided I was going to beable to walk on my stumps.
I spoke that I was going to beable to walk on my stumps and
therefore I did it.
So it starts in your mind andyour process of what you believe
you can do, and then youformulate it into your speech
and then you go to action.
And a lot of that can besubconscious, but what I believe

(41:53):
is true success is beingintentional Meaning.
I'm going to quiet the negativeaffirmations that I hear in my
mind.
I'm going to align it with theword of God and what it says
about me.
I'm going to put it to a goalthat I want to achieve.
I'm going to imagine myselfdoing it.
I'm going to visualize myselfdoing it, then I'm going to

(42:14):
speak that I'm going to do it,and then I put my hand to the
plow.
So that's the reason why the wayyou shift yourself to the place
that you want to be and you mayhave to do that several times.
I remember a couple of times Iwas in companies and I would go
over to the desk that I knewwould possibly be mine.

(42:35):
I would just sit there andimagine what I was doing, the
job that I wanted, and then Iwould pray, and then I'll put my
hand all over the desk and thenI would speak I'm going to do
this job and I would leave thearea, and there's not many times
that I didn't get that positionwhen I was able to do that
process.

(42:55):
So what I'm saying is also Ihave to bring up faith.
I'm sorry I'll try not to getemotional here, but you have to
have faith in God, that he, hispromises, are yes and amen for

(43:15):
your life, and then also thatyou have faith in yourself that
you can do it.
I don't believe that you canhave true faith in God and not
have faith in yourself.
Those correlate, because youare his creation, you are here
for his intention and there's nomistakes that he made, and so,

(43:36):
therefore, you can do allingsthrough christ jesus, which
strengthens you, but you have tomake a decision that that is
what's going to happen in yourlife and you.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
You said so many powerful points and so many
powerful, powerful statementsbecause, it's true, it's what we
speak out of our mouth and alsowhat we think.
Whatever a man thinks in hisheart, so is he.
So they all tie into each other, because the scripture said I

(44:11):
believe, so therefore I speak.
Yes, what comes out of my mouth, what I'm speaking, is what I
believe.
If we ever pay attention towhat we say out of our mouth and

(44:34):
if we ever listen to peoplewhen they speak, it will tell
you what they're believing andwhat they believe.
Yes, this is so, so good.
Listen y'all.
This is walking outinspirations.
I am prophet Alicia and I havemy guest, prophet Sonia
Washington.
We are talking about her book.
Think I can?
We're dealing with the mindset?
I don't know, the Lord just hasme.
There's so much within thisbook.

(44:56):
I want to get through allthrough the whole book, but for
some reason the Lord got mestuck in the beginning portions
and the portions dealing withthe mindset.
Dealing with the mindsetbecause it was.
It's interesting we can walkaround this world so free but
still be in prison because ofour mindset and our way of

(45:18):
thinking.

Speaker 4 (45:19):
Yeah, Go ahead.
Well, I kind of think aboutsome people that have maybe
started in poverty and a lot oftimes that mindset will
perpetuate itself and keep youthere, unbeknownst to you, and
also because you don't feel likeyou can have better and so you
don't try to reach for better.

(45:40):
That can be applied foreverything.
I won't reach for betterbecause I don't think I deserve
better.
Oh yanda, oh, I feel okay.
So sometimes we don't think wedeserve better, so we don't
reach for better, we don'trequire for better.
But when you take God's handand when you get someone close

(46:05):
to you that can help you through, you'll reach for better and
you will do better and your mindwill shift.
But it has to start there.
There's no way that you canachieve the things that you want
without first believing in Godfor you and your ability to walk

(46:25):
it out the first.
You speak about the first threechapters of the book, and
people have mentioned it that Iread it all the time.
It's the first three chaptersthat just kind of have you sit
in it and be like because I talkabout you know, people look at
me and say I think limbdifference was the hardest thing

(46:46):
that I ever overcome.
And that's not true.
It's generational trauma.
You know we all have it.
There's no perfect family.
We all been through somethingthat imprinted on us that it may
be limiting us to move forwardand have faith in ourselves.
Maybe someone talked somethingover.
It could be even childhoodtrauma.

(47:08):
Maybe you had a teacher thatwas talking negative, that
didn't believe in you.
They said you couldn't read orsaid you couldn't do this, or
they said you would nevergraduate or things like that.
So those were the things thatwere the hardest for me.
Somehow I remember having anexperience with God as a little
girl and it was like he was, like you can do this, and I just

(47:34):
remember just having that, thatmindset placed inside of me and
I thought it was for me.
But God don't give you anythinglike that for just you.
He gives it to you so you canhelp others.
And I testified to that fact.
I had a sort of a spiritual mom.

(47:55):
Her name is Barbara Bowden anda few years back I was not
working at the time and I wastaking her back and forth to the
doctor and one day I didn'teven know she was going to say
this.
We were driving down and shesaid she was blind in one eye.
She said you're making me dobetter for myself, you're making

(48:17):
me not quit.
She said your presence younever said anything told me to
do better, you never pushed me,it was just your presence that
made me know I could do more formyself.
So that think I can mindsetdropped into her spirit because
he gave it to me, and so I knowthat's a part of my purpose.

(48:39):
I know that I can help peoplethat don't believe that, have
that inkling, that want more.
I do want my life to be better,I want to accomplish more, I
want to do this and I want to dothat, but I really don't
believe in myself.
That's when you go into acoaching environment and you get
real with your coach and youstart working on why?
Because in that safeenvironment you can be honest

(49:03):
about I'm here because of thisand begin to work through that
with God and prayer and coachingand mentorship so that you can
work out those soulless issuesthat are inside of you that are
actually your burning altarinstead of God.
So you're feeding off of thatenergy which is negative and

(49:27):
which is keeping you locked andbound versus the Holy Spirit and
what he can do through you foryourself and others.
And that has to be walked out alot of times with mentorship.
And that's where I placedmyself in a mentorship because I
know that a road I've nevertraveled.
Many times I'll need someone'sdirection and if I'm stuck in

(49:52):
places I don't know, then theycan reveal it to me and I can
work on that and change that.
But many times a lot of usdon't want to hear the bad stuff
, we don't want to face the badstuff.
We don't want to talk to thesilent, negative affirmations in
our life that are controllingus and fix it.
We just want to ignore it andact like it's not there.

(50:17):
Every relationship, decision, every where you live, where you
work, your friends, it isdriving everything in your life.
It's either driving it forbetter or driving it in the
ground.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
And that is usually the solution of shifting your
life and shifting your mindsetfor better.
Y'all, listen.
She is giving some phenomenalgems.
I hope you guys are taking heed, I hope you guys are tuning in,
because the Lord wants you tobe set free.
He said to whom the sun setsfree, it's truly free indeed.
Listen y'all.

(51:09):
I want to encourage each andevery one of y'all.
That may be battling in yourmind with the whole idea of.
That may be battling in yourmind, With the whole idea of.
I still see myself from therear view mirror.
I still see myself as theperson that I was in my past and

(51:36):
I cannot see past that.
I want to encourage you.
As the Lord says in his word,if any man be in Christ, he is a
new preacher.
All things have passed, it's allthings have become new.
Then he went further, saidbehold, I do a new thing and

(52:00):
it's springing forth even now, having that time of meditation
with God, speaking with God,communing with him, spending
time in his word.
We'll begin because he said hedidn't want us to be conformed
to the world, but beingtransformed.
But then he, he, tells us howto be transformed.

(52:23):
Our transformation comes fromthe renewing of our mindset.
How does our mind get becomerenewed?
By getting into his word andspending time with him.
Y'all see how that works.
Yes, and surrounding yourselfyou you know how they say birds
of a feather flock together.

(52:43):
Yes, the cliche saying goingback, god will surround you with
where you're going, people thatare where you're going, not
where you are.
You never want to be in acircle where you're the smartest
one in the circle.
No, because what growth anddevelopment?

(53:07):
How are you growing?
How are you developing?
By being the smartest cookie inthe thing.
And you never want to becomeintimidated if there are those
in the circle that are smarterthan you.
That's that perception and thatmindset.
You want to think you know whatI am shopping at RM because she
got that thing down.

(53:27):
Pack in that area, and then youhave something to bring to the
table that they may not havedown pack that they might know
of.
So, listen y'all, we're goingto take a commercial break and
when we come back I have twomore sections that I want to

(53:49):
wrap this thing up with.
That stood out to me quite abit.
I mean, the whole book stoodout to me.
If I had to hide, the wholebook would have been yellow if
it was up to me.
But uh, I, I, I was like I haveto do key points, key points.
So we're going to take acommercial break and we will be
back.

(54:11):
Though I walk through the valleyof the shadow of death, I fear
no evil.
God, you are with me, your rodand your staff, they comfort me.
You are a strong tower that Ican run in and be safe.
When I was in the valley, godsaid walk it out.
When I got to the end of thevalley, the race began.

(54:34):
God said keep going, now run itout.
The race is not given to theswift, neither is the battle
given to the strong.
God wants to know will you keepgoing?
Some things are designed towalk out and some have to be run
out, just as there's anexpiration date on everything

(54:57):
some things don't expire, theyjust run out.
Know this just ability.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
I love that I got about three of those shirts.
I got a black one, a white one,yellow one, I mean.
I have a black and yellow one.
Yeah, so I love those shirtsbecause it is there's no, this,
it's just ability.
Yes, I have to follow theleading of the Holy Spirit.

(55:30):
So I'm going to speak towhomever is on this live, that
is, you're dealing with whatwe're talking about, but you
don't know how to stop and youdon't know how to navigate your
way through it.
A lot of hurt, a lot of pain anda lot of things that you are
embarrassed about, maybe aformer life, or ashamed of.

(55:52):
I call it out in the name ofJesus, right now, and I call it
out to be put to the altar ofGod, to be burned up by the Holy
Spirit, the altar of God, to beburned up by the Holy Spirit,
and that it be a renewing ofyour mind in the name of Jesus,
it be a renewing of your spirit,in the name of Jesus, for you
to on this life, to leave thislife, and know that you can

(56:14):
shift your life, know thatwhatever you're dealing with,
you can leave it at his feet andhe will take it from you.
Father, god, in the name ofJesus, I just want you to know
if I can do it with all thelimitations physical limitations
of my life, you can do it too.
There's no, there's noexception.
There's nothing too too big andtoo hard for God, and I know

(56:37):
that's a phrase and a cointhat's coined over and over.
But I know him well.
I know him as Jehovah Jireh.
I know him as Jehovah Rapha, which Jehovah Rapha means a
healer.
I know him as Jehovah Jireh, which is a provider.
I know him by so many of hisnames.
I can go over and over and over, and he will show ever so

(56:58):
presence if you just let him inand let him minister to you, let
him help you and let himencourage you to be who you were
put on this earth to be,because I can guarantee you,
even Alicia and myself have notwalked everything out that we
need to do for God and forourselves and for our family.

(57:22):
We have not done that yetbecause we're still here.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
And so, as we reach for more, commit yourself to
reach for more.
That is good, that is good, that is so good.
And with that, you know, know, the other portion, dealing with
the mindset, is the mindset, isthe, the mindset that is

(57:54):
entrapped in perfection.
Listen, I'm gonna betransparent with y'all, right?
Okay, so I come from a, a breedof perfectionist.
My mom is a perfectionist.
I have other family membersthat are perfectionists.

(58:15):
I was raised by a perfectionistand so Mm-hmm, and so my
mindset was somewhat ofperfection.
Everything had to be perfect.
And sometimes I'll betransparent, even sometimes now
my mindset tries to revert backto perfection.

(58:37):
I'll give you all an example.
Okay, so I'm out of town rightnow, my baby girl, she has had
dance competitions and so thescenery done, shifted.
I'm a whole nother town.
You know, I'm not used to doinglives, and you know, in hotels
and stuff, this is all new to me, y'all.
Ok, so y'all bear with me.

(58:58):
Ok, I'm not used to.
You know I'm used to quiet onthe set, no noise, don't you say
a word.
You better not even knock onthe door, right?
That's that perfection.
I'm going to be transparent.
I want y'all to see this.
Y'all know, walking outinspirations.
We we real, we we truth, we, wegive it to y'all raw.
We don't sugarcoat nothing, wedon't even try to paint this

(59:20):
beautiful picture like we got itall the way together and we got
it going on.
I mean we got it going onbecause god has us to have it
going on, but you know what Imean.
So I'm sitting here and it's alot going on and you got one
thing in my ear Reschedule, it'stoo much going on.

(59:44):
You got the people above youstomping.
You got people walking in thehallway making noise.
You got other noises.
You might want to reschedulethat because it don't look
professional, it don't soundprofessional.

(01:00:07):
But then the Lord reminded.
He said no, there's a lot oftimes that we're going to be put
in predicaments and situationswhere they're not going to be
perfect.
God never said in his word thatI needed you to be perfect.
God never said in his word thatI needed you to be perfect.
He said I needed you to liveout my spirit of excellence

(01:00:32):
because he's a God that doesthings in decency and in order.
He never created us to beperfect.
So a lot of times God will putus in situations like this, like
this situation that I'm in tosee.
Will you still be obedient andgo forth with the assignment?

(01:00:52):
Will you use the excuse of it'snot perfect and it's not right
and it seems chaotic, so I can'tdo it?
Now, weren't we speaking aboutour words Negative?
Then you have to ask yourselfwhy can't I do it?
I have everything that I needto do it, so what's really

(01:01:16):
stopping me?
And I bring that up because inThink I Can.
She talks about corporateAmerica and she talks about how
there was that moment ofperfection making sure every I
is dotted and every T is crossed.
Mm, hmm, yeah.

(01:01:38):
So so tell me that mindset.
I want to give one gem and Iwant you to chime in on some
nuggets how to come out themindset of perfection?
The one gem I will give is, asI stated earlier, god did not

(01:02:01):
create us to be perfect.
Adam and Eve was not evenperfect.
Thank you, holy Spirit.
He brought this back to myremembrance.
He stated.
He said this is what broke mymindset out of it.
He said the reason Adam and Evewere not perfect was because

(01:02:21):
they were created from animperfect world.
Mind you, adam came from thedust of the earth.
That's imperfections, that'simpurities.
There's nothing perfect aboutthat.
Only God can perfect.

(01:02:43):
Like you said, I perfect thosethings that concern me.
Only God can bring perfectionto us Right.
However, in our operations, look at it this way Did I do my
best?
Did I give my all?

(01:03:05):
Wasn't done in excellence?
Yeah, did it please God?
Because I'm going to tell yousomething If you're trying to be
perfect for, for, for, forhumanity and for humankind,
you're going to drive yourselfbananas and nuts because we are
very fickle.

(01:03:25):
Do we really know what perfectmeans?

Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
I think perfect is an illusion and it had me locked
for a long time.
I'm already coming to the tablewith a disability long time.
You know I'm already coming tothe table with a disability, you
know, to the corporate tablewith a disability.
And this is before DEI, and Iknow it's a big topic right now

(01:03:52):
which I'm not going to go into, but I only bring it up is that I
began my career where there wasno DEI and there wasn't any
opportunities like that and itwasn't in the forefront of
corporate America, but yet Istill came to the table.
So, because I've already cometo the table flawed, see how the

(01:04:14):
enemy was working on me I feltlike I could do no wrong.
I felt like I had to be perfect.
I felt like I had to work somany hours and I had to do
everything perfect and I had tobe the best leader and I
couldn't make any mistakesbecause I'm already flawed.
But what I found out is thebiggest flaw that people call is

(01:04:36):
a flaw, but it's not, becauseGod doesn't make any mistakes.
And once he healed me from thatshame, I realized that he took
my legs and it was the bestthing that ever happened to me
in my life.
I know some people on this livewill probably say what in the
world, it is the best thing he'sever done to me in my life,
because I have been able toconnect with people like no one

(01:05:02):
has ever been able to connectwith people on the job.
I have been able to encouragepeople, reach people that are
closed off.
I have been able to beimpactful.
I have been able to shift themindset of people about
disabilities.
I've had several people come upto me and say I've never even
seen anybody in a wheelchair.
I've never even talked toanybody in a wheelchair, lived

(01:05:25):
in a small town and then came toa big town, a big corporation,
and honest, was honest with me.
I'm breaking the barrier of, ok, I can do this without legs.
I can do it just because Idon't have legs.
I have a mind.
Just because I don't have legs.
Legs, I can do it.
I just because I don't havelegs.
I have a mind.
Just because I don't have legs,I can do things because a lot

(01:05:45):
of times, even when people justsee me out, they're like oh, she
probably has a nurse, sheprobably has someone to come
help her, do everything, get outof bed, I drive, I drive myself
to work, I take care of my sonand I wash clothes and I cook
and I do everything likeeverybody else does, because he

Speaker 3 (01:07:24):

I want you to sit in silenceand I want you to sit after
prayer and listen to yourself.
If what you hear is notpositive things about yourself

(01:12:53):
and your mind, then you need towork on your mindset of yourself
and when you do that, you willsee God shift your entire life.
And if you need help doing that, you can reach out to me, you
can reach out to another mentor, but I want you to do it sooner

(01:13:16):
than later.
Seek who you are, not what youthink you are, because somewhere
in there there's a break andwhat we need to do is fix that
break so that you can achieveand get to the greatest days of

(01:13:37):
your life.
It says your latter days.

I want you to find someone tohelp you with that.
The start is the book, becauseit gives you principles of God,
things that I walked out, relationships, different aspects
of the book that helps younavigate through my experience.

That helps you navigate throughmy experience what you can do
to shift this area of life, movethis area of your life.
So I just want to encourage you.
It's not about a purchase of abook.
I've met several broken peoplein my life, people that you can

(01:14:26):
see.
On the outside everythinglooked okay, but on the inside
it was a big turmoil, becausethe outside didn't match the
inside and what has happened ismany people have worked on their

(01:14:46):
outside more than they workedon their spirit and their soul,
and what is on the insideeventually comes out and is your
reality.
So that's all I have today forus, but I will lead us in prayer
and you ready for that, prophetAlicia?
Okay, father God, I thank youso much for this day.
I thank you so much for thisopportunity to speak to God's

(01:15:09):
people, to begin to open thedoor, to remove themselves from
the invisible presence of theirmind.
Lord, let no words that wasspoken on this live fall to the
ground.
Let it drop in someone's spirit, if just one person's spirit,
to ignite them to believe itbetter for themselves, to ignite
them to start a process, sothat they can think I can, so

(01:15:32):
they can go forward in all thethings that they imagine and
they want to do for themselves, all the things that they doubted
, father God, but above all ofthat.
I pray that someone thatlistens to this live, that don't
know you well, begins theprocess to begin to commune with
you, talk with you, walk withyou, learn your word, learn your

(01:15:53):
ways and apply them to theirlives.
Lord, we thank you for ProphetAlicia and Walk it Out.
We thank you for theopportunity and thank you for
the ingenuity that you've givenher and the the craft to go
forward and launch this into theearth so that we can help God's
people one by one.

(01:16:14):
Keep us, lord, in this time ofconfusion and, just like I said,
there's a lot of darknessaround us.
Lord, keep us in light, hold us, take care of us and provide
for us.
Keep us in light, hold us, takecare of us and provide for us.
Keep us sheltered.
Father God, cover us in theblood, our house, our children,
our family, our finances.
In the name of Jesus, I knowthat you can do all of these

(01:16:34):
things.
I ask because by faith, that'show I walk everything out.
In Jesus' name, I pray Amen.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
