I think each year is a successbecause I can see progress.
So, that being said, we'regoing to get into our lesson and
, oh, before I do that, we'vegot to cover the other things.
If you have questions, biblicalquestions, feel free to send
them to me WalkWithMeBibleStudyat gmail.
(01:51):
All one word, all lowercase, walkwithmebiblestudy at gmail.
Now, the good thing about thatif you have anything that sort
of bothered you, even if youjust want to compare answers to
what your pastor's giving you orsome other person giving you,
or even what you think you wantto discuss, go ahead and just
(02:15):
send it to that email address.
I read them all.
As a matter of fact, today'sepisode is still based on that
one question.
That was such a small questionwith a very long answer.
And the other thing we want totalk about is when we are going
(02:36):
through Scripture.
I don't think I mentioned thelast episode and I didn't even
think about it, but when we'regoing through Scripture, always
make sure you don't want to bedeceived by me.
You don't want to be deceivedby anyone, because the only
reason why you're listening tothis channel, this podcast, is
because you desire to have aclose relationship with God, and
(02:56):
that means going to heaven.
So if you have a Bible, alwaysgo with us, walk through this
podcast with the bible andalways read the verse two above
or verse two below, butpreferably the whole chapter,
because context in anything iskey.
(03:17):
I myself, jj, can take anyscript out of context and
deceive you with it, anyscriptural context and deceive
you with it, and there are a lotof people out here that are
doing this.
But that's not what we aretrying to do.
We're trying to get to heaven.
So I always want to make sureyou read a verse or two above
(03:38):
verse or two below, preferablythe whole chapter, because that
context is very, very important.
So with that, no further ado,we're going to get back into
remembering what that originalquestion was.
Oh, and before I forget, if youwant me to mention your name in
the question, go ahead and putyour name in the subject line.
If you do not put your name inthe subject line, I will assume
(03:58):
that you want to be anonymous, and that's great too.
I don't want to call anybodyout.
I know a lot of people want tobe reticent about these sort of
things, and that's fine.
Just if you want your namecalled out, keep your name, put
your name in the subject line,so I know, all right.
So let's get back into it.
(04:19):
We're talking about what does itmean to believe in the Lord
Jesus Christ?
Now, the last time, last timewe were talking about what that
meant.
Belief sort of leads to anaction, and it always will.
It's not something you couldjust say hey, listen, I believe
(04:39):
that eating is good for you, oreating healthy is good for you,
and then you don't eat healthyand you don't really believe it.
You just say it Well, I believeI should not stand in the
middle of the street so I don'tget run over by a car.
Well then, you probably are notgoing to stand in the middle of
the street so I don't get runover by a car.
Well then, you probably are notgoing to stand in the middle of
the street.
But if you're just basicallygiving it service, then that's
(05:02):
going to be a whole problem andI'm not sure what just happened.
So what does this really meanagain?
So, this belief on the LordJesus Christ, it actually ended
up and basically.
So what happened was he had thedisciples who were actually
(05:23):
believing on the Lord JesusChrist.
He told them to go and dosomething, and they went and did
exactly that Go and wait inJerusalem until you know what's
going to happen, until you getin view with the power from on
high.
So the account of how thishappened is found in Acts,
(05:43):
chapter 2.
And this is chapter 2, 1through 4.
Now I would suggest you pausethis and read it.
I would suggest you pause thisand read it.
And to the day of Pentecost wasfully come, they were all in one
court, or one mind, in oneplace, and something.
There came a sound from heavenas of a rushing, mighty wind and
(06:04):
it filled all the house wherethey were sitting and there
appeared unto them cloventongues as of a fire, and it set
apart each of them and theywere all filled with the Holy
Ghost and began to speak withother tongues as the Spirit gave
them utterance.
So this was all a direct resultof believing on the Lord Jesus
(06:28):
Christ.
So that's where it began, andwhen we got here, here, it was
another step.
It was a manifestation of whathappened if you, or when you,
believe in the Lord.
Now, remember this was not justthe 12 apostles that
experienced this.
This was not just the 12, oractually the 11, because,
(06:52):
remember, judas Iscariot hadoffed himself.
So this was not just theoriginal apostles experiencing
it.
There were about 120 people whowere also believing on the Lord,
jesus Christ, including Jesus'mother, who was not an apostle,
(07:12):
mother who was not an apostle.
So don't let people tell youthat she's a saint or she's some
special.
She has special privileges orsomething to that effect.
Jesus' mother had to go throughthe same exact thing that the
rest of the apostles did, andthe same thing that you and I
have to Now.
If she needs it, pleaseunderstand that you and I need
(07:36):
it too.
So what does this really mean?
What really happened when theday of Pentecost fully come?
Now we can start with verse 1.
They were all in one for onething 120 people sitting
together in the morning waitingfor something.
All they knew that they werewaiting for something.
(07:57):
We can think in the hindsightsort of way that they knew what
they were waiting for, but theyhad no idea.
No one had ever received theHoly Ghost at this time.
There was no manual, there wasno Bible.
We didn't know what symptomswas going to happen.
All they knew is that they werewaiting for a power that they
(08:18):
had no idea was coming, but itwould enable them to be
witnesses to the Lord.
Now this is both in Jerusalemand Judea and Samaria, and to
the other parts of most part ofthe earth and Judea and Samaria
and to the other parts of theearth.
And Jesus knew that.
This new church I'll put thatin quotation marks because
(08:40):
that's what he called it heneeded more than just enthusiasm
.
He needed more than just zeal.
He needed more than just like alittle touch.
He knew about the forces thatwas going to come against the
church.
He knew that the military wasgoing to come against the church
.
He knew that the military wasgoing to come against the church
.
He knew ecclesiastical peoplefrom the system of Judaism was
(09:04):
going to come against them.
Civil Roman society was goingto come against them.
People just didn't want to dothe right thing.
The social world was going tocome against them, but what they
needed was power to overcomeall of that and overcome all of
that simultaneously.
And then suddenly there was asound.
(09:25):
Verse two Suddenly there was asound.
Now, a lot of people who studythis kind of thing that the
rushing mighty wind sounded likea sound.
Now, a lot of people who studythis kind of thing that the
rushing mighty wind sounded likea tornado.
Now I honestly I don't know, Ican't subscribe to that.
But it does sort of make senseand I've been in a tornado and
(09:47):
I've been in hurricanes anduntil you've been through them,
that is a rushing mighty wind, all right so, but it seems to
come from everywhere and nowherealtogether, because it says it
came from heaven, not from thesky.
It came from heaven.
(10:07):
And you know they say thatstillness fills the room.
You know, every time you get atornado there was right before
it is like a eerie sort of callkind of hard to describe if you
haven't been in it like anexpected thing that is going to
happen.
Um, and nearer and nearer.
(10:31):
You know this thing start kindof hearing it.
This is, this is wind, thatkind of here, faintly at first,
and then it just comes on top ofyou and it has to be scary
because it was inside the room.
It's not like they had a windowopen.
The bible doesn't say it camein through the windows and and
(10:53):
knocked around.
The Bible is always verydescriptive about things that
happened, especially monumentalthings like that.
It said a rushing mighty windcame from heaven into their home
and they didn't mention aboutanything getting knocked out or
blown away.
Now ask yourself this, becausesometimes I ask myself silly
(11:17):
questions and ask yourself thiswhat in the world would those
apostles have felt?
What kind of feelings would youhave?
Not knowing what this was, andthen suddenly being gripped with
the power of God, god himself, the Holy Ghost, inside of you,
(11:39):
in the room with you, being ableto communicate with you.
And then, right after that, they started hearing other
people speaking in languagesthat they never spoke in before.
Now the Bible talks about it intwo different ways.
In this particular way, it cameas if earthly language, because
(12:04):
you'll read down throughScripture.
I don't want to get ahead ofmyself, but I don't want to get
ahead of myself, and it's kindof exciting to talk about.
Imagine how that feelinggripped them and they began to
speak in tongues, not knowingwhat they were saying or why
(12:24):
they were saying, but somewhere, feeling that they were
worshiping, somewhere in theirheart, somewhere in their spirit
, in their insides, down inplaces you can't even describe.
They were absolutelyworshipping God and every
(12:47):
fragment that was in the roomand there was a fire that came
and sat on each of them and itlooked like tongues of fire, and
meanwhile everyone's looking atthe fire that's sitting on top
of you and not burning.
Wait a minute.
Where did we see this before?
We saw this in the burning bush, where the fire was there and
(13:08):
the bush was not consumed.
The fire came down and set uponeach of these fossils and did
not burn them, and so I kind ofliken it to.
I'm trying to explain how I feltwhen I got it.
I almost didn't realize I hadit when I first got it, because
(13:29):
I had no idea what was actuallyhappening, and that's when you
know you have.
I know that sounds sort ofcryptic.
So meanwhile I have to go backto my experience, without
knowing that this was thebiblical experience at the time.
(13:50):
Remember, these apostles had noidea.
There was nobody that camealong and told them hey, you got
the Holy Ghost.
Not one person told themanything because there was no
one to preach it.
Right, no one's there to preach.
You need the Holy Ghost.
There's no one there to preach.
I got to speak in tongues.
(14:10):
There's nobody there saying, hey, speak in tongues.
How come I tie my tie in my redHyundai?
No one.
But each of them knewimmediately after what happened
was that they would have beenendued with power from on high,
and that power caused them to dothis.
I think one of the worstinjustices we have is I hear
(14:34):
somebody say here's this HolyGhost, tongue-speaking class,
and just something inside justsort of curls and revulsion, and
that's the only way to reallyexplain it.
But because that's not how itis, don't say, hey, someone's
praying through and someone'spraying and reaching out to God
(14:55):
and reaching out with all theirheart and say, hey, stop talking
English and just speakingtongues.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
You have to yield to that.
All these people were yieldedto that and when that happens
when God wants it to happen, notwhen you want it to happen I
think it took me about 4 daysand I've seen people walk in to
(15:20):
the presence of God and just gettotally like bam.
It took you four days, so, butthe effect is immediate.
Believing on the Lord JesusChrist takes on an entirely new
meaning at the time, because nowyou want to know everything
Jesus said, not just a fewthings, the things that you
(15:42):
didn't like, but now you reallylike them and you want more of
them and it's like something youcan't live without Almost hate,
to use such a carnal term, butmore like an addiction.
You've got to know more Jesus, you've got to know more God, and
then that Holy Ghost gives youthe power to do all of it,
(16:07):
things that you didn't think youcould overcome.
Your flesh, the way you speak.
The Holy Ghost can change allof that, and it does change all
of it.
And understanding what thatbelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ
means in this context is what'skey.
(16:29):
Now let's get back to whathappened when these guys
believed and girls believed onthe Lord Jesus Christ Because
there were men and women there.
So now you got a whole crowd ofpeople Because, I mean,
obviously somebody ran out hereand said hey, man, something's
happening over here.
These people are all babblingand stuff in the street and
(16:50):
upside down and slobbering andstuff, and some of them are
rolling around on the floor andsomething's crazy, a lot of
stuff going on.
And and you know why I can kindof say this happened.
It's because the first timewhen the crowd showed up, they
said oh man, these people aredrunk.
Read it right there.
(17:10):
Oh, these people are drunk, man, they got all that new wine in
them.
And then Peter, this same Peterwho had been given the keys to
the kingdom of heaven.
Now, if anyone else had stood upat this point and started
talking to the crowd, they wouldhave been out of order.
Order is very important in thekingdom of God and it's very
(17:33):
important in the church, and Iknow I don't want to get off on
that.
I've got some termines comingup about that.
I don't want to get into thatright now, but order is very
important.
Anyone else that has stood upand delivered this message, they
would have been out of order.
So the Holy Ghost had Peterstand up, because it was the
Holy Ghost that gave Peter thekeys to heaven.
(17:56):
Remember in Matthew 16, 18?
Oh, y'all, but that was Jesus.
No, no, no.
Jesus and the Holy Ghost arethe same thing.
So please understand that andwe'll talk more about that,
because I got some more on thisquestion in the email.
I just want to get through thisone first.
So it was Peter that stood up,and he stood up because people
(18:21):
were saying other people whowere not laughing were saying,
hey, man, these guys arespeaking in in different
languages.
Oh, some of them speak infrench and some of them speak in
russian, and some of them roman, italian, latin and some of you
speaking all these differentlanguages.
And the other one came alongand was like ah, they're just
(18:42):
drunk.
So Peter stood up and said hey, man, this ain't about being
drunk, because it's only 9o'clock in the morning.
Now, this is kind of how youknow, peter was not a modern day
saint.
I've seen drunk people at 9 inthe morning.
He said it's the third hour ofthe day.
(19:05):
Let me just say, before we getinto that, I want to clarify
this.
It was 9 o'clock in the morningBecause the Jewish day ran from
6 am to 6 pm.
Anyone who didn't know thatplease understand.
That's why Peter said it's thethird hour of the day and we
knew it was 9 am, not 3 am, butit was 9 am in the morning.
(19:26):
They had been in this place fordays and days and days and days
and days and oh and when, thatday was fully come at 6 am.
The day of Pentecost was fullycome at 6 am.
That's when this happened.
That's out of the book of James.
It happened at 6 am.
Bible doesn't say that ithappened at 6 am, but it was
(19:47):
that Holy Ghost thing thathappened.
Everybody fell out and startedspeaking in tongues.
We had the time to gather thecrowd and maybe it could have
happened.
It took about three hours.
They were all speaking intongues.
The Spirit gave the utteranceand this actually began the age
(20:07):
of the church.
This is where the church wasactually born, right here, even
on the Lord's Day, and among thespectators there were people
who actually had a hand in thecrucifixion of Jesus.
So there was priests there, rabbis, people who were
(20:32):
everybody's going to want tocome and investigate these
things, especially if you'retrying to tell them hey, man, I
don't want to talk to God orsomething.
You're going to have tribes andrabbis come around because
they're looking for thatex-perish.
Wait, are these Jesus followersdoing this?
Oh, yeah, let's go and get themtoo.
So you know they had to comeand make sure.
(20:55):
Now Peter stood up and said man, these people ain't full of wine
, these people are not drunk, but this is what was spoken of
by prophet Joel.
And he went on to tell themthat this prophecy was being
fulfilled, that you were goingto speak in tongues as the
(21:18):
Spirit gave the utterance.
And then he even went on to sayyou evil people actually went
and crucified the Lord andSavior.
You don't even realize.
You crucified the Lord andSavior and a couple of people
who were there finally got aconviction.
They finally started getting aconviction and they ended up
(21:41):
believing in the Lord.
Oh, but JJ, it doesn't say thatthey finally started getting a
conviction and they ended upbelieving in the Lord Jesus
Christ.
Oh, but JJ.
It doesn't say that.
No, it doesn't say theybelieved in the Lord Jesus
Christ.
They said they were pricked intheir hearts.
Why would they be pricked intheir hearts if they didn't
believe in the Lord Jesus Christ?
That's right, because theyactually did so.
(22:03):
When they actually believed inthe Lord Jesus Christ, they
finally started believing thatthey had done this thing.
Now forget the fact that it wasthe will of God for this to
happen.
This is one of the great thingsof the Bible.
They were convicted becausethey thought they had done it of
themselves and even though thisis the will of God for this to
have happened, this thingconvicted them because they felt
bad about doing it.
(22:24):
They realized they had actuallycrucified a genocid person, not
knowing that they had actuallyhung the Lord of Glory on the
cross.
And so now they're breakingtheir heart.
They say, men and brethren, whatshall we do?
How do we fix this?
How do I?
(22:45):
I believe in the Lord JesusChrist, but what do I do?
How do I?
How do I show God that, thatthat I'm sorry about what I've
done?
How do I?
How do I be like this?
How, what do I do with my soulnow?
(23:05):
And Peter said one simple line.
He did not come back and saybelieve in the Lord Jesus Christ
, because you have to believe inthe Lord Jesus Christ to get
the conviction.
You have to believe that Jesusis Jesus in order to get the
conviction.
So believing on the Lord JesusChrist as it is standing alone
is an incomplete doctrine.
(23:27):
So he said repent.
Now everybody likes to throwthat word out, repent, and I
already got a couple ofquestions on what does absolute
repentance mean?
So I'm not going to cover ithere.
I'm going to cover it in thenext one Repent and be baptized,
every one of you, in the nameof Jesus Christ that you already
now believe in.
(23:47):
You already now believe on theLord Jesus Christ, so you're
going to be baptized in his name, to get his name put on you
because you already believe.
So believe in the Lord JesusChrist.
You're still doing this actionto show that you believe in the
Lord Jesus Christ.
I know sort of circular andconfusing right, trust me, not
(24:09):
as confusing as it sounds.
But once you have done that, because this is what God has
required once you have done that, you shall receive the gift of
the Holy Ghost.
And here's the thing.
It's a promise.
It's a promise.
It's not well, if you do itwrong, you do it right.
(24:29):
Maybe, maybe God will give itto you down by and by no, no, no
, it's a promise.
It's a promise to you and yourkids, people who you haven't
even met yet.
As many people as God calls tothis moment, right here in this
(24:52):
life, in this moment ofconviction, in this moment of
heartbreak.
As many people as God calls tothis point.
That promise is unto you.
As many people as God calls tothis point.
That promise is unto you.
And guess what?
3,000 of them, right there thatday, got baptized in Jesus'
name and got healed.
3,000.
3,000.
(25:14):
So now the church went from 11to actually 12.
Because they already decidedwho they were going to replace
Judas with.
They went from 12 to 120 andnow to 3,120.
And that's believing in theLord.
(25:35):
Please understand, I knowsometimes, especially in some of
these movies, it kind of comesoff as a doctrinal superiority
maybe, but it's really nothingmore than an incomplete time.
It's like trying to learn thealphabet, but missing L, m and O
(25:59):
, p, q, r, n.
You just jump from K to T andyou kind of feel something
Because you see Jesus there andGod created the earth, and you
believe all this stuff, butnothing else happens Until you
struggle to make it happen.
And that's not the big gospel.
(26:20):
The gospel is you're going toget power Once you're fully on
the Lord's right.
You have to know how to do it.
Yes, you do.
That's why Jesus told Peter inthat room that when they
received power, their power wasto go out and witness to
(26:40):
everyone out there that theycould find.
So with that we're going towrap this up, because I can go
on and on and on.
Next thing, you know thisepisode will be three hours long
, but here's the thing.
Here's the thing.
Here's the thing.
It's very important.
I don't want anyone tounderstand.
(27:01):
I don't want anyone tomisunderstand.
I don't want anyone tomisunderstand me here.
The bible is very succinct onwhat it means in certain terms.
Yes, faith on the lord JesusChrist is a thing.
However, it is not the completedoctrine.
Praying the sinner's prayer isnot in the Bible.
(27:23):
I'm sorry about that.
Right hands of fellowship isokay to join the congregation,
but it's not joining the church.
I know, I know, I know that'swhat grandma taught.
I was the same way until 1993.
Sorry 1994.
I was the same way until 1993Sorry 1994.
(27:43):
I was the exact same way.
I accepted the Lord as mypersonal Savior and this, that
and the third, but there wasjust some things I couldn't get
rid of.
And all of a sudden I met anapostolic person and he told me
what that really meant repent ofmy sins and be baptized in
Jesus name.
And the next thing I know I'mspeaking in tongues and the
things that I couldn't repent ofmy sins and be baptized in
Jesus' name.
(28:03):
The next thing I know I'mspeaking in tongues and the
things that I couldn't get over,things I couldn't get around,
things I couldn't get away fromwas gone and things once I
backfled because I did backslidefor a while, because I called
myself a God put everything onthe table.
Let Well, everything on thetable.
(28:23):
Let's keep everything on thetable.
When I backslid for a while, calling myself a man of God, god
did lift his spirit from me andthose things that I had a
problem with before came backwith a vengeance.
And here's I'm going to endwith Avengers and I'm going to
(28:45):
end with this.
Once you get told to hold on toit, please hold on to it.
For some reason it's kind ofhard to explain, but getting it
the second time doesn't quitefeel like it.
I don't know why.
There's some people who willsay that well, you know what,
(29:06):
that's another topic.
But just make sure, when youget the Holy Spirit, when you
get it, speak in another tongueas the Spirit is uttering, not
as somebody telling you how todo it, not as you get tired of
praying.
So you say some lonely things asthe spirit is uttered.
Then that power that you willreceive and here's a good way of
(29:31):
knowing the next day will bethe brightest and sunniest day
you'll ever see.
I don't care if it's cloudy,snowing, whatever.
That'll be the brightest, mostsensory, filled day you'll ever
see.
That's how it was for me andother people I talked to.
It's like you're like you'resmiling like an idiot your whole
(29:52):
day, but that's what it isright now.
If you have any questions orcomments, go ahead.
Feel free to either add them tothe videos down below, check
out the other videos.
It'd be up on walk with me,email, even even ask questions
on the video.
That's fine.
I check them every now andagain, but I love each and every
(30:14):
one of you.
Hopefully you soon see y'all inthe next.
