Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everybody,
welcome to today's episode of
Walk With Me.
I am your host, jj.
It's so good to be back homeand be back here with you all.
We were, as you might havenoticed, we did kind of miss a
week and I apologize for that.
So eventually you guys aregoing to get two episodes in one
week.
That's just because really justpoor management and I didn't
(00:26):
even when we started thispodcast, I didn't even think to
consider setting up a mobileunit, like a lot of podcasters
do.
But here's what happened.
We had a conference that wewere out of town and learning a
lot and it was basically it wasbasically a women's conference
(00:47):
that I went with my wife.
So that notwithstanding, we areback.
I'm so glad to have each andevery one of you here, so good
to have each and every one ofyou on the podcast and sending
me questions.
I've got all your questions andeventually we will get to them,
because I love answeringbiblical questions.
(01:09):
If you do have Bible questions, please go ahead and send them
to walkwithmebiblestudy at gmail.
One word walkwithmebiblestudyat gmail.
If you do not want your namementioned in the episode, go
ahead and Leave the subject lineblank, but if you want your
(01:31):
name mentioned.
Put your name in the subjectline, just to be clear, because
I'm not even sure If I said thatcorrectly.
If you want your name mentionedIn the episode, go ahead and
put your name, just your firstname, or your nickname, or
however you want me to refer toyou in the subject line.
If not, if you don't putanything in the subject line,
(01:53):
then I know that you just kindof want to have the question out
there to be answered by theword of God.
All right?
So also a quick shout out toour sponsors, two Bars Lyricist
and Exquisite Creation.
Also a quick shout out to oursponsors, true Barstow Lyricists
and Squizit Creations.
Quick shout out to a lot ofthings that God is doing in our
lives and I'm really close to.
(02:14):
Well, I'll give you guys alittle bit of a hint.
So there's been a preacher, apastor, that has asked me to
fill in for him.
So I've been filling in everyuh, every week.
So if you're on youtube and yousee this, um, this episode,
(02:34):
then you'll also see episodeswhere you know I've been
actually speaking.
So, uh, that's a very big stepfor me because you guys, I, you
guys, I would rather just be ona few shouting hallelujah, uh,
but you know God is going to dowhat God is going to do.
And I have learned a long timeago just go with it, just just
(02:58):
smile, thank God, go with itCause you try to fight God.
It's a you're not going to win.
So with it, because you try tofight God, you're not going to
win.
So just loving everything thatGod is doing.
Love each and every one of you.
Thank you all for joining us.
You can be listening to anyother podcast, but you've chosen
to listen to this one.
I really do appreciate it.
We're just going to continue onbecause I'm still getting
(03:21):
questions about the oneness ofGod.
So we decided that we're goingto.
We talked about some of thetitle names in the Old Testament
and I just want to cover those, and then we're going to go into
(03:42):
the titles of Jesus and you'regoing to start seeing a lot of
things sort of fall into placeplace here.
One of the things you know is iswe have to make sure that we
cover, because this is one ofthe rules of the podcast.
It ain't share it with 10people, it ain't.
(04:02):
It ain't pay a subscription or,and one rule of this podcast is
to, uh, when we talk about ascripture, we usually talk about
a scripture.
We usually talk about ascripture for the sake of time.
So what we want to do is pausethe podcast, pause the episode
(04:23):
and read a verse or two aboveand a verse or two below,
because context is key and youwill see it today.
So we're going to cover a lotof individual scriptures and
it's going to cover a lot ofindividual scriptures and it's
going to take a lot of study.
But this is what if you reallywant to be led in the truth, led
(04:44):
in the word, it just takes alittle bit more than cursory
reading.
You've got to kind of study itlike we studied.
You know math in school, schoolscience in school.
You didn't, uh, look at theperiodic table and memorize it
one time.
You didn't learn yourmultiplication tables just one
time.
You took a lot of drilling, alot of going over it.
(05:07):
Sometimes you got it wrong.
Sometimes you have to go backand get it right.
You had to take a test to learnit, to make sure you express
the knowledge of learning it.
So this is kind of the same way.
So we're going to jump rightinto it, because this is
probably going to be a twoepisode subject.
All right, so some of the thedeity names or the titles of
(05:32):
deity in the old testament.
I believe we might have goneover them, but I just want to
recap.
Most of the time in the OldTestament there was a compound
title and we are just going toshoot right down through the
word Godhead.
We're going to talk aboutcompound titles and what those
titles mean.
In Genesis it started off at 22and 14 with Jehovah Jireh.
(05:58):
What that means is the Lordwill provide.
I want you to start noticingthe pattern.
In Exodus 15 and 26, you see theterm Jehovah Rapha, the Lord
that healeth.
Rapha, the Lord that healeth.
In Exodus 17, 8 through 15, yousee Jehovah Nisi, which is the
(06:19):
Lord our banner, or the Lord ourstandard, or the Lord that
announces us Right Judges 6 and24, the Lord our peace,
otherwise known as JehovahShalom.
This is why and if you've heardpeople say the term Shalom, you
(06:39):
kind of understand they saythat as they are greeting you or
walking away, like we do in theurban times.
We used to say yo, peace out, peace man, and that means I'm
walking away having a day Right, and that means I'm walking away
having a day Right.
Psalm 23 and 1.
Jehovah Ra, which is the Lord, our shepherd, jeremiah 23.6.
(07:05):
Jehovah 6.
I always get this one wrong.
Sikhenu, which is the Lord ourrighteous.
Ezekiel 48.35.
Jehovah Shammah, the Lord, ourrighteousness.
Ezekiel 48, 35.
Jehovah Shammah, the Lord, ispresent.
Now, all of these were namesthat we sort of gave to God
(07:29):
because God had manifested inthis particular way, in this
particular time, and this onlycame after God finally said but
by my name, jehovah, I was notknown to them when he finally
revealed his name.
That's when mankind, because ofjust who we are, we like to
(07:50):
name stuff, and what we did Iswe.
We put this manifestation, weput a name for this
manifestation.
So when, when god was rainingdown manna out of heaven, it was
jehovah jireh, because god willprovide bread for us, you know.
And the children of israel hadthe plague and you know, the
(08:12):
snakes came and bit everybody.
Jehovah Rapha, because the Lordhealed everybody of the of the
snake bite, of the poison, andby everybody I mean everybody
who survived, you know, and Ican continue going down that way
.
But we want to make sure that wewe understand why these names
(08:34):
are the way they are and how itwould translate into the name of
Jesus and why it makes sense.
Now, one of the things that theprophets did is they always
seemed to call back to thosemanifestations of the same God,
(08:57):
and they were very specific intelling you that God is a
jealous God.
God is a God, one God I am Even.
God even told Moses tell him Iam sent, not, we are, I am that
I am.
I tell him I am sent you, not,we are, I am that, I am, I am
(09:19):
that I am.
Now, that phrase right there.
You could spend 20 hours juston that phrase, because a lot of
times we just glaze over it.
We're not really consideringwhat God is saying.
In fact, zechariah 14.9 sayssomething very interesting.
He says that there's one Lordand his name is one.
(09:41):
So now, when we start sayingthings like three persons in a
Godhead, what we're saying isthere's three gods and then we
have to have three names.
So because the reason why wesay that is because a person is
identified by their name, notnecessarily by their job title
(10:02):
or by their manifestation or bythe things we do.
For instance, I can be ahusband, I'm always going to be
a husband, I'm always going tobe a son and I'm always going to
be a co-worker.
I may not be a co -worker atthe same job, but I am a
co-worker and I am a son and Iam a husband.
(10:27):
But if you write a check, youwrite a check for any amount of
money.
There's nobody that can cashthat check because there's no
name on it.
However, in Zechariah 14.9, thatprophet clearly states his name
is one, and in Matthew 28.19,they're using the term name as
(10:52):
singular.
Well, what is that one name?
We do find it at the answer inActs 4 and 12.
Peter alludes to it in Acts2.38.
And that there is no other name.
There's conclusive proof thatthere's one Lord and his name is
Jesus.
(11:14):
So now, with the few momentswe're going to have left, we're
going to start running through alot of New Testament references
or titles of Jesus, and a lotof them are in the New Testament
, but I think there's a coupleof them in the Old Testament.
But remember a verse or twoabove, a verse or two below,
okay, so all in all, that's amanifestation of Jesus.
The all in all Colossians 3 and11.
(11:35):
All in all, that's amanifestation of Jesus.
The all in all Colossians, 3and 11.
Almighty which is, which wasand which is to come.
Revelation 1 and 8.
They're talking about Jesushere, alpha and Omega, which is
called To the side of another.
Intercession 1, john, 2 and 1.
(11:57):
Ancient of days, now that'sgoing back to Daniel 7 and 21.
As a matter of fact, it was arevelation to me that that
fourth person in the fire withthe three Hebrew boys who we
refer to as Shadrach, meshachand Abednego However, those were
(12:19):
not their names.
I challenge you to go findthose names that fourth person
was Jesus, and the reason why weknow that is because
Nebuchadnezzar even said it.
Nebuchadnezzar said this is Godover here.
Even though he went off andworshipped his own idols, he saw
God.
That's a whole sermon.
(12:39):
We're not going to get into itright now, but we see Jesus
manifest in the book of Daniel, beginning and the ending.
Revelation 1 and 8.
Bread of life John 3, 6 and 35.
Bright and morning star,revelation 22, 16.
(12:59):
Captain of the host of the Lord, joshua, 5, 14.
It's not just in the NewTestament.
You see it in the Old Testamenttoo.
Captain of Salvation, hebrews 2and 10.
Chief Shepherd 1 Peter, 5 and 4.
Jesus among 10,000.
That's in Psalm of Solomon, 5and 1.
(13:21):
Counselor, 9 and 6.
It also goes on to say mightyGod, the everlasting Father, the
Prince of Peace, all in thatsame Isaiah 9 and 6.
Daysman, or now daysman, is morelike the umpire or arbitrator,
(13:42):
like a go-between.
You see that in Job, 9 and 33.
Dayspring, which is like thedawn, you know, we're referring
to the brightness and the hopethat the dawn brings.
Luke, 1 and 78.
Emmanuel, god with us, 1 and 23.
(14:07):
Now, that's right there.
His name is Emmanuel, whichmeans God with us.
This says, you know, if youread it out, the Hebrew, jehovah
is God with us in the Hebrewright and if you read it for
(14:32):
Jesus in the Greek it's Godsaved.
So we're gonna go back toIsaiah 9 and 6.
We were talking abouteverlasting father, eternal life
going to be first.
John, 5 20, father Matthew, 2819.
First and the last revelations,1 17.
Born from the dead.
Colossians, 1 18.
(14:52):
First group of them that slept.
I know these are all justtitles, manifestations of things
that Jesus had done first.
Corinthians, 1 and 20.
Friend that stick closer than abrother.
We all hear that and we allknow that we're talking about
Jesus.
But you see that in Proverbs,18 and 24.
(15:13):
Great God and Savior, titus, 2and 13.
Good Shepherd, john, 2, I'msorry, 10 and 11.
Holy Ghost, matthew, back to 28and 19.
Head of the Body, colossians, 1and 11.
Holy Ghost, Matthew, back to 28and 19.
Head of the Body, colossians 1and 18.
High Priest, hebrews, 3 and 1.
(15:35):
Now we talked about the I Am,that I Am is in Exodus.
3, 14 and John 8, 24.
A lot of times you will see thesame manifestations in the New
Testament as you see in the OldTestament Judd Acts 17 and 31.
(15:55):
Jehovah, isaiah 4, z and 3.
King of Kings, revelations 19and 16.
And that same verse goes on tosay Lord of Lords, living Bread,
john 5, 51.
Lions of the Tribe of Judah, revelations 5 and 5.
Messiah, john, 4 and 25.
(16:19):
Man of Sorrow this is Isaiahforecasting the crucifixion of
Jesus.
53 and 3.
Mediator we talked about thatearlier.
The go-between, the arbitrator,1 Timothy, 2 and 5.
No-transcript, this is a titleof where he was from.
Matthew 2 and 33.
(16:42):
Back to Isaiah, 9 and 6.
We're talking about the Princeof Peace, the priest, after the
order of the Melchizedek, ofMelchizedek, hebrews 5 and 6.
Now you always want to have aninteresting study.
We can study out Melchizedek, because the Bible is so Can't be
talking about Right, resurrection and life John 11 to
(17:06):
25.
The root and offspring of David, that is correct.
Revelation 22 16.
Because his earthly body camefrom that lineage of David.
Now, keep in mind, jesus was inexistence long before David was
(17:26):
even thought about.
But he's also referred to asthe root of David.
The Rock of Ages Isaiah 26 and 4.
Rose of Sharon, lilia of theValley, song of Solomon, 2 and 1
.
Seed of the Woman Genesis 3, 15.
What, yes, when God was makinghis judgment, he said the devil
(17:57):
shall bruise the seed's heel, but the seed shall bruise his
head.
By his head.
He's talking about the devil'shead.
We as man could never bebruising the devil's head,
because this is actually theseed that God was talking about
when he was given the judgment.
He was also given a prophecythat we as man would eventually
(18:23):
have a role model, so to speak, that we could use to get back
into God's grace.
Son of Righteousness, malachi,4.2.
Shiloh, prince of Peaceable orRed, genesis 49.10.
(18:45):
Sure Foundation Isaiah 28.16.
Stone cut out without hands, daniel 2.34.
Strong Rock, psalm 31.2.
Shadow of a great rock and aweary land, 32 and 2.
(19:05):
True Vine.
Isaiah 15 and 1.
Truth.
John 14, 6 Wonderful.
Isaiah 9, 6 Word.
John 1 and 1.
The Word of God.
Also in Revelation, 19 and 13Way.
John 14, 16, and one of theinteresting times that Paul
(19:28):
referred to Jesus as a rockbecause it just came to me, I
didn't have it written downwhere he said that rock that
followed the children of Israelas they left Egypt was Christ.
And there's a whole study, there's a whole sermon in there,
because this is why Moses ranafoul of God, because he
(19:52):
crucified the rock twice.
He crucified the rock twice.
I don't want to get in that oneright now, but if someone sends
me a reminder I'll come back tothat, because this is exactly
why moses did not ever make itinto the promised land, despite
all the things that he did.
(20:12):
All right so, but here's wherewe are right now.
We're almost out of time, but wewant to make sure that we talk
about how, all of those thingsthat we talked about, even
though they sound like names, they're really just title,
they're really just office hold, they're really just like you
(20:33):
know, things that catch thatJesus did, and Jesus even made
sure to mention that he will.
He would be referred to as thetitle in Matthew 28, 19.
(20:56):
He says one and of the HolyGhost one.
So now, if we break down thatsentence the way we're supposed
to, like what we're supposed todo in grade school, we know that
this name described is anattribute of the Father.
That name is the name, theattribute of the Son and that
(21:22):
name is the attribute of theHoly Ghost.
So now you have to ask yourselfare these three names we're
talking about?
No, that sentence clearly saysin the name, by baptizing them,
baptizing the whole world, inthe name of the Father, the name
of the Son and the name of theHoly Ghost, and that name is
(21:44):
Jesus.
Everything in that sentence isa one term, like a singular term
, which is the name, and therest of that are all titles.
Now, jesus never did tell hisdisciples to go out repeating
the words Father, son and theHoly Ghost.
The reason why you know that?
(22:05):
Because you never see anyonebaptizing that way, not one time
.
And they baptized.
They were baptizing thousandsof people.
They were baptizing people, itseems like every week, but no
one got baptized name of theFather, the Son and the Holy
Spirit.
They always either got Abaptized in the name of Jesus
(22:27):
Christ, b got baptized in thename of the Lord which, which is
the name, which is Jesus, andthey I think I think one time it
says they were baptized in thename of the Lord Jesus, but
never, ever.
Do you ever see anybodybaptized in the name of the
(22:48):
Father, son and the Holy Ghost?
Because they knew what theirassignment was.
So are we supposed to just obeythe command of Jesus or just
repeat the word?
We have to have anunderstanding of what we're
doing, and it goes into how weworship, it goes into the
(23:09):
effectiveness of the worship, and the reason why is because
the name is the power.
So it should be noted that ifyou have not been baptized and
if you've been baptized intitles, if you've been baptized
in titles and I hate to say thisbecause I know it kind of rubs
a lot of people the wrong way,but there's only one real way to
(23:30):
say this and that's to say itstraight out If you've been
baptized in the name of titles, you've not been baptized
scripturally.
Now, one church I really likethey covered both, because they
said baptized in the name of theFather, son and the Holy Spirit
(23:51):
, which is Jesus, then I stillJesus named baptism.
Alright, so we're going to wrapthis right at this note because
I don't want to get into theimportance of the name.
We're going to get into rightat this note because I don't
want to get into the importanceof the name.
We're going to get into thatwith the next episode.
But I wanted to point out allof these times where the
difference is between the titleand the name and why those are
(24:14):
important.
All right, I love each and everyone of you.
Thank you all so much.
Thank you for liking andsharing and commenting on some
of the social media sites wherethe podcast is listed.
Thank you so much forrecommending it.
Thank you so much.
Hey, when you're out and aboutto see somebody tell them that
Jesus loves them, that you mightbe the only time that they hear
(24:38):
from God that day.
So when the Spirit leads, youJust say it.
Just say it, keep it moving.
You don't have to have a longknock down sermon In the
Winn-Dixie or the Piggly Wiggly.
Just say, hey, you know whatJesus loves you, and that will
go a long way.
Just keep it moving.
God bless each and every one ofyou.
(25:00):
I'll see you all on the nextone.
