Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everybody,
welcome to another episode of
Walk With Me.
I'm your host, jj.
It's so good to have each andevery one of you here.
Thank you all so much forlistening to this podcast.
You could be listening to anyother podcast out there, but
you've taken a moment, a momentto listen to this one, or a few
moments to listen to this one,and I really do appreciate and
(00:22):
love each and every one of you,not just because you listen of
this podcast, but because we areall on the same journey, trying
to make it to heaven.
If you don't believe in heaven, that's fine, just walk with us
anyway, you might actually startbelieving in the Lord Jesus
Christ and believing in gettingin a heaven, or avoiding hell,
(00:44):
as it were, because that's whatthis is all about.
Uh, we are on a, a journey, uh,while we are still alive and a
destination at the time of ourdeath.
There is no, uh, reincarnation.
I know a lot of people'spreaching this now.
I interesting thing and I knowI'm going to get aside on this I
(01:05):
was in a place buying, uh, somedress clothes and, believe it
or not, the guy started talkingas soon as I walked in.
He's hey, man of god, whatever, and I and I, I know what it is.
It's a sales tactic, I can't.
But I'm in there and, um, he'stalking about reincarnation, my
(01:26):
friend, that we're notreincarnated.
The bible doesn't say anythingabout us being reincarnated.
The bible talks about aresurrection, but that's only to
go to heaven.
So, um, or the resurrection upto go to the great white throne
judgment, there's only one stopafter you see the great white
throne judgment.
There's only one stop.
You see the great white throne, then it's only one stop.
(01:49):
After that, we don't want to gothere.
Okay, there is no such thing asreincarnation.
I know we well in the Christianfaith there's no such thing as
reincarnation, and I said itthis way because there are
people who firmly believe inreincarnation.
But when you kind of test itout, it doesn't make sense.
(02:14):
But the only thing I can do isgo by what the Bible says, not
whatever scripture that theyused to back up their belief
system.
Only thing I can say is theBible is true.
If your belief system had thingsin it that came to pass and was
(02:37):
true and was more than just youknow, hey, it would be a great
thing to look into, for instanceand I'm not here to bash anyone
, but there's that other bookthat starts at the Q, but they
(02:57):
have really nice things.
They're great proverbs, they'regreat things to say in there.
Some of them not so much, justlike there's some not so good
things, not pleasant things, inthe Bible, but there are really
nice things and nice proverbsand nice rules on living.
Some of them, some of them notso much.
But if there was anything inthat book that had come to pass
(03:21):
and I'm not saying twisted tocome to pass, but I mean
literally came to pass then youcould say that that religion is
a good religion or that beliefsystem is a good belief system.
Meanwhile, we have the Bible,in which so many thousands of
scriptures, prophecies have cometrue.
So that's why I follow theBible, and it is Not just
(03:47):
because it's a convenient thing,it's literally the word of God.
Okay, so big shout out to mysponsor.
Thank you all so much.
I got off on that.
There's no such thing asresurrection.
There's no such thing asGetting virgins from heaven,
because that part of you is onlyfor reproduction and we won't
(04:11):
be reproducing in heaven.
So then that's it All right.
So, that being said, I don'tknow how I got off on that, but
this is where we are.
A big shout out to our sponsorTwo Bars of Lyricist Exquisite
Creations and the other sponsorthat we're still working on the
(04:34):
name of.
And also big shout out to IronGate Ministries.
I guess I have to acknowledgethat.
So we have a ministry calledIron Gate Ministries and I'm not
exactly sure what God wants meto do with that yet, but it's
formed, it's got an income, I'mtied into it, so I'm not sure
(05:00):
what God wants me to do with it.
And hey, listen again, I thankGod for each one of you.
We're going to go right backinto our lesson from last week
where we were talking about whatbelieving on the Lord Jesus
Christ is and, if I'm notmistaken, we were talking about
John's account of theresurrection.
And just a brief recapbelieving on the Lord Jesus
(05:22):
Christ is not just saying hey, Ibelieve on the Lord Jesus
Christ, is not just saying hey,I believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ.
There's a lot that goes intoquote unquote believing on the
Lord Jesus Christ, and right nowwe were talking about how
believing on the Lord JesusChrist plays into the
resurrection and why that wasimportant, was important.
(05:44):
So we were talking about howJohn was talking about when Mary
Magdalene ran up on the tombfor Resurrection Day, right, and
if I'm not mistaken and let mejust stop right here because I
have to make sure I keptthinking there was something I
(06:07):
was forgetting yes, there issomething I'm forgetting.
We believe in context here.
There's only one rule of thepodcast, I know.
I'd like you to share it, I'dlike you to tell other people
about it, but the rule is averse or two above, a verse or
two below, but preferably thewhole chapter, because context
is key Now into the lesson.
(06:29):
Mary Magdalene had ran up to thetomb where Jesus was.
This is where we are.
We're going to pick up rightwhere we left off.
Mary Magdalene ran up to thetomb and the first thing she
sees is, kind of put a horriblefitness in her substance,
horrible stinking feeling in thepit of her substance.
(06:50):
She walks up and, holy cow, that stone is gone Now, as far
as she turns around on her heeland runs back to the upper room
as fast as she can and the firstthing she does is says, peter,
peter, they took away the lordout of the suburb.
We don't know where they'velaid it.
So she's already thinking thatthe the other um idea that
(07:18):
someone might have stolen thebody.
Now, everybody this is weirdbecause everybody thinks that
someone else is going to stealthe body and mary's the first
one to think that someone stolethe body, to actually think that
someone stole the body.
So she runs back and she tellsPeter hey, peter, someone took
the body.
So Peter and John run light tosirens over there and he goes
(07:40):
right inside and the linens andnapkins are there.
Now they're still coiled.
So now, at this moment, johnbelieves to understand the Old
Testament prophecies.
He says his body rose right upthrough the rapid.
He's alive.
Peter still can't get it.
So him and John return to theupper room and Mary Magdalene
(08:00):
stays at the suburb.
She's crying and everything.
And then there's two angels.
That says hey Mary, why are youcrying, girl?
She says because they've takenmy Lord away and I don't know
where they put him.
So then she's not even waitingfor an answer from the angels,
she doesn't even realize she'sspeaking to an angel.
So she turns around and shewalks out and there's a figure
(08:27):
in the dim light in the moon.
She thinks it's the gardener.
She says quote unquote gardener.
She says woman, why are youcrying?
I remember the angel just askedher that Woman, why are you
crying?
Now, if you ask me JJ aquestion, then someone else ask
me the same question when theyshould have heard me answer the
(08:47):
question the first time.
Probably 98% of the time I'mgoing to get a little irritated.
I'm just saying, hey, listen,I'm still human.
I'm probably going to get alittle irritated and I'm going
to say, hey look, maybe you'rethe one that took it.
And this is what Mary says tothe guy, or who she thinks is
(09:08):
the gardener right.
So Mary says if you have him, tell me where you put him and
I'll go take care of him.
I'll go carry him away.
Girl, you're a little old, wispygirl and for all the council,
purposesesus was a prettysizable guy.
In in the flesh he was a prettysizable guy.
(09:29):
He wasn't some little wispykind of soft guy, he was a
pretty big guy.
Remember he's in the templeflipping over tables and he took
his body, took a seriousbeating right.
So he's a pretty sizable guy.
He has to be pretty sizable.
Mary said, oh no, tell me wherehe's at, I'm going to go take
care of him.
And she could not have carriedthat.
(09:55):
But all of a sudden she realizedthat she is speaking to Jesus.
And the one thing I wonder ishow he said her name, mary.
Now, I know when my wife is madat me she'll say my name a
(10:18):
certain way, and I know when mywife is really, really feeling
the love for me she'll say myname.
But I just can't imagine howJesus said her name to where.
At first you didn't recognizehim.
But yet as soon as he said it,she recognized him.
(10:38):
Because as soon as she saidMary, that certain way, that way
that God talks to you, the waythat you recognize that voice,
if you really believe in theLord Jesus Christ, when God
speaks to you you know thatvoice.
And Mary knew right awaybecause she fell down and she
worshiped and beat.
(10:59):
So now let's put John on pausehere, because now we've got to
go to Matthew and we're going topick up the story.
So Mary had to tell Peter andJohn that she's seeing God and
you know he said that now hekind of considers her a faithful
friend.
The other Mary, she and theother Mary goes to the seventh
(11:20):
one.
Now the day is by this timebeginning of dawn, so we're
looking at about in thesummertime, because they're
walking around.
We're just going to assume thatit's like either spring or
summer, so it's got to besomewhere around 6, 630 am.
Right, while they're on the way, there's a great earthquake and
(11:41):
the angel of the Lord descendedfrom heaven and rolled back the
stone.
Now, remember, now we'retalking about the differences in
the two accounts.
We have John's account, now wehave Matthew's account.
So now the angel rolls the stoneaway and he sits on the stone.
Now, keep in mind, it's not alittle bitty rock, this is a
(12:02):
stone, it's a boulder, A boulderthat seals an opening big
enough for people to carry abody into and be respectful with
the body.
So this stone has to be atleast six foot in diameter, and
even if you make the stone flat,it's got to weigh a couple tons
(12:24):
.
So, and even if you make thestone flat, it's got to weigh a
couple tons.
So you're literally watchingthis angel, this.
You know the guy's not doing it.
So his angel's sitting up onthe stone saying, hey, um, there
you go.
Look what I did.
Now, this is not to let God out, and I actually used to believe
(12:46):
that.
Well, he rolled the stone awayand sat on it so God could come
out.
No, no, no.
He rolled the stone away andsat on it so that they could go
in.
Because the two women are toldto go and tell the disciples
that he is risen.
And as they went to tell thedisciples, jesus already met
them somewhere else.
So he actually did it to letthem in, let them see.
(13:10):
Now Luke gives us a little bitdifferent account.
We're still talking about theaccount of the resurrection.
Right dawn is broken and herecomes another party to the, mary
Magdalene, the other Mary Ithink we had a lady by the name
of Joanna the two Marys musthave sent the others on ahead
and they see the two angels nowthat they go and tell them, tell
(13:33):
the disciples, he reminded them, the angel reminded them of
Jesus' word, that he must becrucified and he would rise
again.
So they returned, all thedisciples of France.
But you know, and I hate to saythis, remember now, these are
the disciples who walked withJesus, who walked with him, who
(13:57):
saw the miracles he did.
And they had to have startedbecause they had never seen
anyone do this before.
They had to be like oh girl, mary, come on.
You just telling tales.
You are just telling tales.
They crucified him.
I saw him bleeding out.
I saw him give up the goat.
I felt the earthquake when ithappened.
(14:19):
I saw what happened to thetemple when he died.
I saw I saw them take his bodydown and wrap it in linen and
put it in.
I saw that, but you're notgoing to tell me that Jesus is
up and resurrected.
Walking around Now, jj would belike well, is it a zombie movie
(14:40):
?
Because here we got a problem.
So they thinking it's just anidle tale.
So Peter goes down once again tothe seventh bird, still
wondering at what's reallyhappening.
Peter as for all, as much as Ilove Peter sometimes, peter was
kind of a brick and that's why Ithink I identify with Peter the
(15:02):
most, not because he was soprominent, but because Peter was
a prick.
Peter was a prick.
You could tell Peter stuff andPeter would just simply let it
roll off and then realize itlater.
But Peter was there, but Peterwas there.
So and Mark kind of continueswhere Luke left off.
(15:22):
So and he continues it as thesun has risen, we're still going
back to the beginning.
Not discrepancies, but thedifferences in the narrative
about when this is happening, because now, this is now the sun
has risen, now we're talkingabout maybe 8 or 9 am, the way
we consider it right.
(15:43):
And so another group are comingto the tomb, the marries, of
course, from one group toanother, telling people that
they had to go to the seventhgroup because, hey, it's
daylight now and they can askabout the stone, and they can't
believe it.
And then they see the stone isrolled away and it's now.
There's only one angel that'sstill there and he appears as a
young person.
So he tell him hey, listen, don't worry about it, ladies.
(16:05):
Uh, just go and look where theylaid them.
Remember I said before stonewas not rolling away, the stone
was not to let jesus out but tolet people in.
So because they had to see, um,that jesus had risen and was
not there, so he tells them togo tell the disciples.
(16:30):
But now peter is like, oh my god, how many people gonna tell me
that this thing happened?
So the women were afraid anddon't mention it to anybody
because, you know, sometimespeople just don't listen.
These women were afraid, don'ttell anybody now.
And the reason why is verysimple, and I can commiserate
with this, because, again, besides the lazarus, no one had
(16:52):
ever seen anybody raised fromthe dead.
And the person who raisedlazarus was dead.
So tell me again, why would youbelieve that If someone just
rolled up to you and said, hey,I saw Jesus.
No, he's not there, he's not inthe tomb, he's alive, somewhere
.
What do you mean somewhere?
He's somewhere.
(17:12):
And then people will startasking questions and then
they're poking holes in thestory.
And then now we got to rememberwe're still talking about
believing on the Lord.
Sorry this takes so long, butwe're going somewhere.
So it's not only the friends ofJesus who are busy and
frightened and running around.
(17:34):
Matthew tells us that the watchremember that guard that we
talked about, the guard thatcame up from the city said oh
crap, what is going on overthere?
Oh boy, what is that going onover there?
What is going on?
Why we're running in and out ofthat place.
And they didn't bring a bodyout.
But I don't know who that oneguy was that rode that stone
(17:57):
away.
But I'm not messing with himbecause he's big or he may not
be that big, he sure is strong, but oh my gosh, he blew that
stone away like it was nothing.
So now they they're kind ofstunned and now they're going
back and they're telling theelders hey, man, listen,
(18:19):
somebody took that body.
What do listen?
Somebody took that body.
What do you mean?
Somebody took that body.
I told you your life dependedon no one taking that body.
Man, listen, someone took thatbody because it ain't there.
We didn't see anybody come outwith it.
It's not there.
Maybe somebody didn't even putit in there.
I don't know.
It's not there.
(18:41):
And believe it or not, that lie, that lie affected so many
things, generations.
We got to be careful of thelies we tell and that was one of
the things that God revealed tome in that sermon on
resurrection day.
It's what led to the Jews andthe Christians not being the
same, the Jews not generallybecoming Christians, because
(19:07):
that lie so many people arestill promoting.
Well, jesus didn't raise himdead.
Jesus is dead.
He's still on the cross.
There's an organization thatstill has to fix him hanging on
a cross.
He's not on the cross anymore.
He came off the cross.
So now we have Jesus appearingto the disciples.
(19:28):
So now we're walking downEmma's road and here's two of
Jesus' disciples walking around, walking this way.
Just two ordinary people, noteven big name disciples like
Bartholomew, just two ordinarypeople, not even like big name
disciples, like Barzala, justtwo random disciples and we only
get to know one of their names.
(19:48):
And one of their names is Well,we'll get to that.
So one of their names.
It was just a dusty road out inthe middle of nowhere and the
spirit of God is depicted.
And this story is still thrilledafter so long and I can't
(20:08):
believe we're running out oftime again.
So Cleopas that's the one namethat we know had a guy that was
walking, had someone that waswalking with him.
Now some people think that washis wife that was walking with
him.
Some people think it was afriend.
I tend to more think it was hiswife that was walking with him,
(20:29):
because it just says twodisciples, they were walking
together.
Sometimes I like to imagine itwas his wife.
I've had a lot of preacherstell me it was two men.
I don't know why they came tothat conclusion.
So sometimes when I'm tellingthe story I'll say it's God.
But I really believe it wasCleopas and his wife.
(20:50):
So they're walking and they'rekind of like man, there's
nothing to do anymore.
The Sabbath is over.
They met in the upper room, they prayed a little bit.
They cried a lot and you know, for all intents and purposes,
this Jesus thing is over.
It's over, he's gone.
(21:11):
He killed him.
But you know, and we've allkind of had this kind of
experience, if you really thinkabout it, you know, when you go
to a funeral and you knowsomebody that you really, really
, really love and you just kindof deal with it and you're
(21:31):
watching the people cry andyou're crying, walking up to the
casket and you just kind oflean over the casket and you
just kind of get one last lookat them and then they close the
casket and then you sit down, you go through the whole thing
about how they were a greatperson or how they would mean
sometimes whatever said it here, and then you take them out to
(21:54):
the grave site and then youwatch the casket go down into
the hole not the last time, it'sthe only time I want to say one
final time.
No, it's really just one.
Casket go down into the hole.
Not the last time, it's theonly time I was going to say one
final time.
No, it's really just one time.
They go down in the hole andthen they start covering them up
.
This is what the disciples hadjust gone through and it's
important to understand themindset of the disciples,
(22:16):
because it's important.
So they had seen all of it.
This was their Lord, this wastheir Savior, and even people
like Peter, which I just calledthe brick this was the guy that
was supposed to deliver Israelfrom Rome.
(22:37):
Remember, peter's a brick I ama brick too, so in hindsight I
don't blame Peter for thinkingthis way.
But they had all centered theirhopes around Jesus delivering
them not just from sin, but fromthe oppression of Rome.
(22:58):
The oppression of Rome hetalked about you know how to
live and how to rule and how todeal with each other and how to
live with Romans and how to bepeaceful.
And every time he saw aPharisee he got upset, he turned
stuff over and he got themtrapped in their doctrinal lies.
(23:22):
And then there was thisadversarial spirit between the
two.
But these two people, cleopasand his companion, which again
I'm going to say it twice waswalking, and Jesus came up to
them and just started kind oftalking to them.
(23:44):
Now I've got to do that to youtoo.
These people believed on theLord, jesus Christ, and God
started talking to them, and youknow how sometimes when we have
it going on really bad andgotta start talking, because
sometimes we may not evenrecognize the voice right away,
(24:06):
but because we're so wrapped upin our problems and we're so
wrapped up in the things thatare going on that we just sort
of kind of like, yeah, right, whatever.
They didn't recognize it atfirst and then they was like,
well, what are you talking about?
And they answered him.
Do you know what happened?
(24:27):
Do you know why we're all upset?
Have you not been in Jerusalem?
What are you talking about?
Do you know what's happened thelast few days?
And so Jesus goes.
Now, jesus, okay, now, at thispoint Jesus goes.
Yes, I understand, he's a goodthing.
So they tell him about Jesus ofNazareth.
They literally preach Jesus toJesus, and let that sink in.
(24:53):
They preach Jesus to Jesus.
So Jesus knows, he just wantsto hear it from us.
So, and then Jesus opened theirunderstanding.
He let them know that, hey, man, this is what the scriptures
tell us to have.
You know, we started this backin Moses.
(25:16):
This ain't a new thing.
The prophets, the song Genesis, the promised seed of prophet,
the song Genesis, the promisedseed of the woman.
Through Abraham, passover, jeremiah, ezekiel, david, the
prophet taught exactly whatJesus was saying.
Why has thou forsaken all ofthat?
(25:37):
And think of it.
Think of it Now.
Now their hearts are reallyburning within them.
But now this stranger made itas though you know he will go on
and and you know.
But now they, they startedbegging and pleading with him
don't, please, don't, go.
And they really constrained himto stay with them over.
(25:59):
You, stay with them overnight.
Please understand.
Jesus really loves to be invited.
If you're going to believe onthe Lord Jesus Christ, you are
going to not only talk aboutJesus, you are going to invite
him.
You're going to invite him intoyour life.
Again, this is just thebeginning A lot of people will
(26:20):
stop at.
Do you believe in the LordJesus Christ?
Yes, have you preached JesusChrist to anybody?
Have you told anybody aboutJesus?
Have you invited him?
Have you invited him?
No, and this is just thebeginning.
This is why I said this is whyI said it's going to take more
(26:41):
than one episode.
Now, it's going to take morethan two Because we are out of
time.
Folks Remember they preachedJesus to Jesus and when they
found out it was talking toJesus, they invited him, they
begged him, to stay with themfor the night.
All right, I love each andevery one of you.
God bless you.
(27:01):
Tell somebody that you lovethem.
Tell somebody that God lovesthem.
I'll see you on the next one.
Thank you all for liking andsharing.
God bless you all.
Thank you you.
