(00:00):
We finally made it. It's rainy, but this is the absolute perfect place
to spend Thanksgiving. Did you usethe handy ani pullar downer? I did?
Oh good, Okay, Like, look at this, guys, Look
at all these tall trees. Lookat this picture esque environment. We've got
all of these cringey leaves. Thisis the perfect like campfire space for Thanksgiving.
(00:26):
I love it. It's gonna begreat. It's gonna be great.
I'm super excited about this. Weget everything ready. Did you remember the
turkey? Yes? I remember?Okay, all right, just checking it.
A squirrel, Like, for real, there's a squirrel. He's gone.
He left roly intro. Hey,friends, we full time RV and
(00:48):
we full time travel, but we'vebeen stationary for about the last two two
and a half months or so.Yeah, this is our first travel weekend.
How do you feel yesterday we traveledto day is day two of travel?
Just shake off all the rest yesterdayI'm not sure. I mean,
there might have been a few thingsI forgot, Like I think my toe
mirror kind of surprised me a littlebit. At one point I thought there
(01:11):
was another car over there, andthen I realized, oh yeah, they're
taller right now because I have themin towing mode. Yeah, did you
look in the rear view mirror?Though, no, I actually did,
so that's your Usually the one Icatch myself on the most is I'll look
in the river view mirror. I'mlike, that doesn't do me because I
you know, I like when I'mnormally driving, I check mirror, straight
ahead, check mirror, check rearview mirror, like like, so it's
just kind of like she constantly,so exactly, it goes like that.
(01:34):
But so I normally do catch myselfevery once in a while looking in the
rear view mirror, and I'm like, that's not going to do me any
good. Dude, that was anacorn that just fell. But so I
did not do that at least, but my my toe mirror did surprise me.
Yeah. Yeah, But we hada great travel day. It was
sunny. It's sunny right now. It's a little chilly, but I think
it's gonna warm up, which willbe really great. But we're traveling back
(01:55):
to Texas for the holidays to seefamily and friends. We've been in Florida
for a really long time. Weloved Florida, but now we got to
go back home. We got tosee family. We have to go back
to the stupid cold of Texas.I know all of you up north they
are like, wait, Texas.Yes, Texas to us is cold at
this point, it does well, and the weather just fluctuates so so much.
It can be like eighty degrees theday before Christmas and then thirty degrees
(02:16):
the day of Christmas. Yeah, but it's usually the opposites, like ninety
degrees on Christmas, because it's alwaysgot to be hot on Christmas. I
don't know. Last year was prettydang cold on Christmas. Who knows?
Who knows that that is the wholeburden that we bear. But we're headed
to Tyler for Thanksgiving. We're gonnahave a great time and you should stick
(02:38):
around because with r V life, holidays could be kind of weird, but
they can also be a ton offun. And we have a pick of
the week that is clutch for anyholiday while you're camping. So come with
us, like you're literally coming withus. Yeah, you're coming with us.
We said that, but like wemean, we mean you're coming with
us. The door is opening,we're getting in the truck. You know,
(02:59):
those are some guess acorns in thatacorn tree right on our site.
There was an acorn tree at oursite in Florida, and those acorns that
fell in that site were eye meanycompared to these, these are like giant.
Let's blow this popsicle stand. Theslowest dramatic truck starting ever. There
we go diesel preheat process. Youknow who. That was a lunch stop
(03:23):
and a half. Lord. Oh, travel day is always kind of crazy,
especially when we have to stop forfuel. And what we try to
do is we try to like lineup our stops to where we're stopping for
fuel, we're stopping for lunch,we're stopping to go pee, all at
the same time. So we getit done, get in and out,
and then we can be on ourway. And normally that takes us one,
(03:46):
like hell, twenty five minutes atmost. Yeah, maybe maybe yeah,
because usually I'm like I'm filling up, You're going to the bathroom,
and then by the time I'm donefilling up, you're getting out of the
bathroom, and I give you Iorder for lunch. You go place the
order, I go to the bathroom. By the time I'm back out of
the truck, like you know,I make sure, I'm you know,
out of everybody's way, and you'reusually walking out just a few minutes after
(04:09):
me, so like, yeah,I mean, it would be even more
efficient if we would just make ourown sandwiches and eat it in the truck,
which we do sometimes when we thinkthat far in advance, but we
never do so that requires forward thinking. We're more spur of the moment people.
Uh, actually we're not. We'remore planners. But with that kind
(04:30):
of stuff, I don't know why, we just don't think about it in
advance. So details. But thisstop was really interesting because did that same
thing. So that was our thatwas our m We place our order for
lunch, and I kid, younot waited forty five minutes. You waited
(04:51):
forty five minutes. I was stillwaiting a few minutes before that, that
is true, forty five minutes afterthe order was placed and we paid to
get our meal, and come tofind out, they were extra busy,
but they also had a really toughtime with the organization apparently behind the line,
so they ended up having our order, but it just died in the
(05:13):
window and they didn't think to callour name. I don't know, they
just overlooked it. So then shewas like, oh, well, just
we'll remake your order really quickly.I was like great, And then I
waited another fifteen minutes for that whileshe was just like rolling around. The
girl who was trying to expedite theorder's so super unorganized, very much not
your truck stop kind of quick stop. In fact, you had to move
(05:36):
the army, didn't you. WellI ended up so because of this truck
stop not having a lot of spacefor like our veers to kind of like
make sure we're not in the trucker'sway, I ended up actually having to
take a trucker parking space. Nowluckily it wasn't busy. I'm sorry truckers.
I normally don't. I normally avoidtaking a trucker parking space just in
case you need it. But inthis case, there was nowhere for me
(05:58):
to go. So, like, part of it's on the rest for taking
as long as they did. Farnamwas also on the truck stop for not
having like additional parking and things likethat. Yeah, one hundred percent.
Whoo all right, well that wasa little bit crazy. But we're talking
about holidays, holidays, the holidays, you know, the holidays are kind
of weird when you do full timeRB life, and there's a different feel
(06:21):
for your summertime holidays than there isfor your wintertime holidays. So like July
fourth, Labor Day, even MemorialDay, those are camping holidays, so
it's a camping kind of vibe, which is great, although we have had
trouble getting reservations on those holidays. In fact, last year, for Labor
(06:43):
Day, we did not set reservationsin advance. We totally forgot about it
and everywhere was completely booked, andso we ended up spending the weekend at
a campground that was attached to acasino in the middle of nowhere, Iowa,
and we had the best time ever. I like to call it,
you know, permanent vacation errors likethe fact that we were always traveling,
(07:05):
and so I forget sometimes to thinkabout the fact that, oh, holidays
are when everybody else is also traveling. That's very true, that's very true.
But winter holidays are a little bitdifferent. Not everybody travels. Not
everybody spends those holidays like Thanksgiving andChristmas on the road. They're usually home,
(07:26):
and so that makes it I don'tknow, there was a lot of
people who said they were traveling forThanksgiving at that restaurant. That is very
true, but they're generally not goingto be camping on Thanksgiving. They're going
to be like at somebody's house orsomething like that. Although Halloween at the
RV park that we were just atwas the best, it was so much
(07:46):
fun. It was so much funwith Halloween at any RV park. I
feel like every RVY park we've beento has been a blast. I think
last year we were at a parkthat like we just did. It was
like the go to each camper andgrab an alcoholic drink was the adult version
of trigger treating, which was hilarious, and we rode around on golf cart
just going and trying different people's homemadecocktails. Some of them were stronger than
(08:11):
others, and the golf cart rightsprogressively got more fun as the evening went
on, or less safe one ofthe two more fun less safe, Yeah,
save death. But then this yearwe were at Splash RV Resort and
water park for Halloween, which issuper fun because they actually celebrated two weekends
in a row and they had somuch going on all weekend long. They
(08:33):
had trigger treating, they had stufffor the adults. They had a costume
contest. They had all kinds ofstuff going on, face painting. It
was a blast and it was warmenough, like literally during the costume contest,
you and I were just hanging outin the pool. Yes, we
absolutely were, which was super superfun. But now is Thanksgiving and Christmas
(08:54):
and we will probably go to yoursister's house or Christmas, but we'll still
be camping in a nearby rby park. But Thanksgiving is one of my absolute
favorite holidays and it's just because it'sall about getting together, giving thanks eating
good food. That's my favorite park. Yeah, and we're camping, which
(09:16):
is gonna be amazing. Yes,last year I got a fully butchered turkey.
Sorry, I can't look at thecamera the entire time. I'm you
know, I do have to actuallywatch the road. But I've had an
entire turkey butchered and actually a turkeyand a half. And so I had
a turkey breast, a couple ofturkey thighs, a couple of wings,
a couple of legs. We hadlike ten people there and I just smoked
(09:39):
it all up different levels for everything. You know. The wings were done
one way, the thigh has doneanother way the breast, though I did
totally like Texas barbecue style. Itwas amazing. I think the breast was
by far everybody's favorite. So definitelydoing that again this year. Oh yeah,
I can't wait. So we gokind of to the same generally every
(10:01):
single year, and it's just sopicturesque, it's so beautiful. It's a
perfect place to do Thanksgiving. Thelast two years it has been cold and
rainy, and when I say coldand rainy, I'm talking like mid thirties
in a lot of cases, andso not even really warm enough to sit
outside by the fire. But thisyear, the forecast is supposed to be
(10:24):
amazing. It's gonna be in themid fifties to mid sixties, sunny,
and so it'll be perfect, perfectcamping weather. Families coming out to join
us again, So hopefully, fingerscrossed, we won't be having to do
Thanksgiving crammed into our camper and we'lljust you know, be able to spread
(10:45):
out outside and eat turkey and sidesand all the fixings. So you should
let us know in the comments whatis your favorite Thanksgiving tradition and what is
your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Becausewe are all about the meat, we're
all about the turkey, but Ihave to say, your mom's deviled eggs
take the cake. They're amazing.Absolutely. In fact, she used to
(11:07):
just make like one batch of deviledeggs and we got to talking. I
think it was like after Thanksgiving andChristmas was already over one year, and
we're all sitting around. We're alltalking about like our plans for I guess
the next Thanksgiving or something like that. Yeah, we're all like, man,
those the dead legs are always sogood, but we always don't have
enough. Yeah, and his momwas like, and there's always one or
(11:28):
two left. I just thought thatyou guys just you know, didn't want
them. We're like, no,we're trying to be polite and not be
that person who eats the last deviledeggs when we know everybody likes them.
So now she makes a double batchevery year, so we get our fill
of deviled eggs and there are afew left over, but those just make
(11:50):
for good, good filler the nextcouple of days. Oh yeah, you
put a doubled egg on the turkeyand make a sandwich out of that,
Oh so so taste. I'm suresome of you are wondering how I smoke
that much meat as full time ourveers. Well, let me tell you.
Our trigger smoker is the pick ofthe week. It's pretty great.
I said. It comes in clutchfor every holiday, and it really really
(12:13):
does. We've used it to smokeWe're skit for July fourth and Memorial Day
and Labor Day, and we've usedit to smoke a turkey for last Thanksgiving,
and we're going to do the samething for this Thanksgiving, which is
gonna be awesome. We love it. We actually use it for quite a
bit more than that. We useit on the regular. Look at how
big this is. Take a lookat that. I love that the legs
(12:35):
fold out as well, which isreally really awesome. So you could put
it on a tabletop if you want, but you could also just extend the
legs and then put it around yourcampsite wherever you want to. We actually
got a different kind of tabletop smokerwhen we first went full time, and
we knew it was a mistake.I think as soon as we got it
in the box and we unboxed itand we were like, this is not
(12:56):
going to cut it. And sowe had had a trigger when we had
our high house and when we soldour house, we sold the trigger.
But they have a Tailgator smoker, which is awesome, so we love this.
We've had it the entire two yearsthat we've been full time and we
use it about every week or everyother week, which is really really great,
so we love it. It justslides right into the basement and allows
(13:18):
us to carry it around. Sothere you go. Clutch accessory for holiday
camping, a smoker. Are wegoing to do the smoke mac and cheese
like we did last time too?I'm not doing side, so I don't
know. We'll see if anybody bringsmac and cheese. Smoked mac and cheese
is amazing in the smoker and it'ssuper easy mood, so we'll find out.
