Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) defended her use of a slur for transgender people during a town hall in Rock Hill on Monday.

After a constituent asked Mace about her position on Planned Parenthood funding, healthcare, and birth control options, the representative got into a heated exchange with her, telling the resident to "say hi to the t***** for me" as she walked out of the event. Mace was referring to the protesters outside of her event, whom she called "lunatics" at one point.

When asked about a LGBTQ+ issue after the event, Mace told reporters that "gays need to divorce the t*****." She said transgender women should not be in women's spaces, including dorms and bathrooms.
