Kimberly’s journalistic experience shines through like a missile as she dishes out phrases of empowerment! I’m so grateful that with each episode of WANOS we learn more and more about how to “turn our pain into purpose” as Kimberly professes. Professional journalist and women’s advocate Kimberly Kay Scott, speaks about how her ACE’s affected her. Kim’s also a #1 best-selling Amazon author (Women and Children’s category), licensed counselor, acclaimed journalist, and successful life coach to the stars. She loves my input on what many of us don’t talk about: Prevention. She says my innovative stance on prevention is one reason why she supports WANOS podcast. Kimberly feels as I, we can’t stop all ACE’s, but stands with me when I profess we could prevent many ACE’s with open dialog.
Normally, Kim provides Integrative Counseling/Coaching, but today she shares her ACE’s and talks with WANOS host Jj.
Her voice interjects two additional elements to abuse:
1. Spouse or significant others who enable perpetrators; and
2. The words, “If anyone ever touches my girls. I will kill them.” She says these words have some children torn over reporting, especially, to their parents. She confesses it influenced why she didn’t report.
She commends my podcast by recognizing the need for all to tell their stories, thus, removing the stigmas surrounding ACE’s.
Elated to have her on my podcast is an understatement. Her extensive training, personal experiences, and expert journalism makes her a true asset in so many arenas, but especially to the mental health field. She says, “Should child abusers receive life sentences? We (survivors) are living out life sentences everyday?” She reiterates this because ACE’s adversely affected her relationships and marriages throughout her life. She makes so many great points but what stands out is, “Turn our pain into purpose or power and that we must baby step our way into survival.”
Kim is an asset to the world of psychology and she will be back for a Part II to discuss journaling, and the gift of anger. I can’t wait!
