Lindsay (00:00):
I tied my shoes and we
just started running.
Jordan (00:04):
Because by now your
gate's open.
Yeah.
It's probably closing prettysoon.
Lindsay (00:08):
Yeah, we were running
and it was so cute because I
would like look down at my
Jordan (00:12):
daughter and her hair's
just like fluffing in the wind.
And she's like looking
Lindsay (00:18):
around chill.
Jordan (00:29):
Okay.
Ola.
Ola Hello everybody.
Hey everyone.
Welcome back.
This is, we have kids.
We have kids.
I've got a kid.
Lindsay's got a kid.
Lindsay (00:41):
Yeah, I have a kid.
Oh yeah, yeah.
Jordan (00:47):
Here we go.
Here we go.
We had our warranty.
Yeah, we got some warm tea andwater.
Warm tea and water.
What kind of tea did you pouryourself?
I went for the rooibos too.
Rooibos.
Lindsay (00:59):
Rooibos.
It's so good.
I'll drink it year round.
Yeah.
Cold in the summer,
Jordan (01:05):
warm right now.
Ooh, I haven't done cold in thesummer.
Dude, you have to.
Oh, that sounds great.
I bet that's lovely.
Do you know what I really likewith this?
Oh yeah, with lemon.
Lemon sounds good.
Um, I sometimes if I want alittle bit of caffeine, I will
do a little bit of rooibos and alittle bit of like just a plain
roasted green tea.
And it's so nice because you getthe like floral sort of like
(01:28):
really nice aromatics from therooibos and then you just get
that nice like bitter.
Like earth.
Yeah.
On
Lindsay (01:34):
like the palate.
I've never mixed it withanything else because I just.
Could chug it.
Jordan (01:40):
It's so good.
Lindsay (01:42):
Yeah, if y'all
Jordan (01:43):
haven't tried that.
Go try some red
Lindsay (01:45):
tea.
It's so hard, like every time Ihave that as an option, I go for
it every single time.
Jordan (01:49):
That's good to know.
I'll make you more next time.
It's kind of cold in my basementwhere we're recording so I
thought maybe I'd treat Lindsayto some tea.
I almost, I was this close tograbbing, Lindsay brought home,
she just went on like a littleholiday trip, which we'll get
into.
Um, she went on a little holidaytrip to, Michigan.
And she made these incrediblecaramels.
(02:11):
I say caramel, do you saycaramel or caramel?
Caramel.
Okay, yeah, me too.
I've been, like, trying to playwith saying caramel.
Caramel.
I don't know, it, like, soundsnice and I, I realize that's how
it's spelled.
Yeah.
And my little sister's a totalfoodie and she always says
caramel and I'm like, shit.
Every
Lindsay (02:26):
time I'm typing it out,
I say car a mel.
So I'm, like, spelling itcorrectly.
So I should probably startsaying caramel.
Yeah, whatever.
Either way.
Yeah, our family made They're sogood.
Yeah, we all got together and wekind of tag teamed these little
Honey caramels and they're just
Jordan (02:43):
incredible.
Yeah, they're amazing.
Good.
Yeah.
And the other night I was, well, she brought back a whole bunch
for me because she's the verybest friend.
But the other night I was, yeah, you had to share.
Lindsay (02:56):
I can't keep all this
Jordan (02:58):
shit load.
So yeah, I can only imaginethey're dangerous to have
around.
But I poured a little teenylittle splash of bourbon, put it
a little ice in there and then,The caramel with the bourbon, it
was stupid.
I almost did that for us.
Like, yeah,
Lindsay (03:15):
you could have You just
don't have enough
Jordan (03:19):
bourbon to share it.
Yeah, you Just kidding
Lindsay (03:22):
No, I totally
Jordan (03:27):
have enough to share
Lindsay (03:28):
you yeah you tried it
and you texted Sweet.
And I was like, shut up.
No
Jordan (03:33):
way.
And then you got a picture likea minute later.
You were in bed?
Yes.
Lindsay (03:37):
Yeah.
Cause I vowed to be in bed by930 I love it.
It was around that time.
And so I was relaxing in bed andyou're like, dude, you have to.
So I was like, shut up.
I'm going to go do it right now.
So I did it and it was theperfect little nightcap.
And it was so interestingbecause you're like, I was
tasting it and It literally madethe caramel, like, more
(04:00):
butterier.
I don't even know, that's notproper grammar.
But, more buttery.
More
Jordan (04:05):
buttery.
Is
Lindsay (04:07):
that what you said?
I was going to say butterier, but then that's not technically
a word.
So you have to say more buttery.
More buttery.
Anyways, every single time Itook a sip of that bourbon, and
then took another bite, it waslike, Oh, man, it got better and
better every time.
Yeah, it
Jordan (04:25):
was nice, too.
I couldn't believe, like, howwell that was.
Oh, it was great.
Yeah, the bourbon kind of, like, slashed the, like, overly
sweetness that you get when youeat a lot of the caramel, but
then, like, just the aftertastewas just, like, vanilla and
butter.
Yeah, yeah.
And just the warmest,
Lindsay (04:41):
nicest.
Yep.
So, what's unique about thiscaramel is that it has honey in
the batter as well.
So it's not just like yourtraditional like butter sugar.
Yeah.
It's got that honey, like, likesharpness in it.
Oh
Jordan (04:56):
man.
And then they're covered inchocolate.
Lindsay (04:58):
Yeah, and then we did,
uh, like sea sea flake salt
Jordan (05:02):
on top.
But everyone wishes they had oneright now.
I kind of
Lindsay (05:08):
do.
I'm
Jordan (05:13):
gonna have enough for
the whole year.
Oh, yeah.
Lindsay (05:16):
Yeah, we're back from
travel.
Yeah, officially.
I don't travel again now till, like, how many more months?
Four, four more, four or fivemore months.
It's like a long break.
Jordan (05:28):
Yeah, I mean, I guess
that's a long break.
Mm hmm.
Lindsay (05:32):
Skipping the whole
spring break this year.
Which is Man, I think this isthe first time I'm skipping a
spring break.
Jordan (05:40):
Really?
Do you typically travel for aspring break?
Yeah,
Lindsay (05:42):
like ever since
college.
Why?
You don't have to go wheneveryone else goes.
I know, right?
Yeah.
But why is that a thing?
That's so funny.
That's like such a thing
Jordan (05:53):
for a lot of people.
I know what, you're totallyright.
You're totally right, becauseAdrienne's parents Our kids are
going to be on spring break, andthen it's going to happen.
Yeah, it's like a whole thing.
Yeah, Adrienne's parents alwaysget I mean, I guess his mom
works in school systems, so theyalways get like Easter holiday
offers.
And in Europe, that's quite abig thing.
Yeah, she teaches That's reallycool.
Yeah, um, what do they call it?
(06:14):
Like, primary school is whatthey call it in the UK.
Oh, cool.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I love that.
Yeah, yeah.
So they We actually havetraveled quite a lot in Like
spring break ish time too.
And that's when it's slow seasonat Sundance.
So I'm like, fully giving youshit when I do the exact same
thing.
So, that's cool.
Yeah, but welcome, welcome home.
Yeah,
Lindsay (06:33):
thanks.
Here we are,
Jordan (06:34):
new year.
Yeah, new year.
I don't feel like much else isnew for me.
Lindsay (06:40):
No, this, uh, Yeah.
This is a new year for me, like.
In parenthood, but like, it justseems like it's like blending
and continuing.
Yeah,
Jordan (06:52):
it all just blends
together.
Yeah, we went to bed early NewYear's Eve.
Yeah, I wish I could have, I wasworking, but.
Yeah, still had a great night.
Good.
Yeah.
Well, I guess we can dive into,if you all have heard enough now
about, uh, Carmel's, yeah,
Lindsay (07:11):
Carmel tea and spring
ranch.
Jordan (07:14):
We can actually get into
something that's useful.
Maybe.
Yeah.
Um, cool.
Yeah.
So today we're going to talkabout travel.
We mentioned it in an earlierpodcast and we now we're both
back from various trips andyeah.
We're ready to just
Lindsay (07:31):
give out some tips and
chit chat and laugh
Jordan (07:34):
about a little bit of
the situation we had.
I'm gonna ask you, yeah, ohdang, I was gonna say, I was
gonna say, what would be yourvery first tip, Lindsay?
If you had to think about it,what would be your very first
tip?
Gee.
Let's just tell, we could justtell a quick story.
(07:55):
Let's just tell a quick story.
Okay, okay.
Alright, so Lindsay and I had alittle bit of a fun, Lindsay
especially, I think had fun.
Yeah,
Lindsay (08:03):
my body went through
it.
Alright, Jordan and I have alovely little kind of pact going
where we offer each other a rideto
Jordan (08:12):
the airport.
Saves us paying for parking.
Yep.
Lindsay (08:16):
Just, uh, we, it works
out.
And, uh, you're going to laughour way through this whole
story.
Just you buckle it.
It was, uh, yeah.
So my husband and our dog droveto Michigan from Utah.
(08:41):
It's a far drive.
So he got a headstart and left acouple of days early.
Uh, my daughter and I flew outof here.
On a nonstop flight, which Ialways recommend.
So first tip.
Jordan (08:51):
Oh God.
Let's just pay the extra littlebit and do nonstop.
I fully, fully agree with that.
Just do it.
Yep.
Lindsay (08:59):
Um, man, I don't, I've
never, I've only connected to
one of the times that I've flownover the summer and I refuse.
Yeah, actually multiple times.
Sorry.
I was going to say, I thinkthat's wrong.
That was multiple times.
Anyways.
Um, so she.
offered to give us a ride up tothe airport and early morning.
(09:19):
I think you had to be at myhouse at 630?
Yeah, 630.
630 AM.
So I had to wake up my daughterfor the day, which I felt
terrible, but it is what it is.
And, uh, she did, she, she didpretty well.
Um, and I gave her some milkbefore we left, shut down the
house, you know, make sure allthe doors are locked.
(09:40):
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know the thing.
And I set garbages out on thestreet.
I said all my bags out frontready to get in the car out of
the house.
And that's where our fun begins.
So, Jordan's coming over early,Chipper, what can I help with?
Jordan (09:58):
Yeah, yeah.
Tell me, tell me what go inside,Lindsay's like, I'm like, okay,
well, what are you bringing?
And she's like, well, I havethis one carry on, I've got my
con game backpack, like diaperbag, and then I've got this,
like, other little black bag.
Yep.
The black
Lindsay (10:09):
bag had, like, uh, my
daughter's formula in.
And it also had passport andlike all the important documents
because it was easy to access.
Jordan (10:17):
Stuff you want when you
travel, you could say, you could
say that.
So I think, you know, this isgoing through the airport.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I'm like, okay, well, uh,that's cool.
I'm going to like, rearrange mycar.
Cause I had like, my sister hadborrowed all my snowboarding
kit.
So it was, and I forgot that itwas all in the, back of my car.
So I was like, Oh no, I need togo and sort this out so I can
(10:38):
fit Lindsay stuff in.
And then I was like, Oh, wellshe's only got this many things.
I can probably fit that in likethe front seat.
And she told me she wanted tosit in the back so I'm like,
okay, I'll grab, I'll grab hersuitcase and I'll put it in the
front and then, you know, I'llmake sure she has space.
So my frazzled mom brain is likeworried about making sure
Lindsay's comfy in the backseat, that it's like nice and
clear because it was not.
(10:58):
To at all clear So I'm clearingeverything out, put her thingy
in, and then she comes throughthe garage door, opens the
garage, yeah.
Yeah.
Ready to go.
Yeah.
And then we trip.
Yeah.
So we're ready to go.
So we buckle her in.
Yeah.
Lindsay (11:12):
I saw you take my
suitcase and I blacked that out.
Yeah.
'cause I was like, she's got it.
I'm gonna fix up all these otherthings I got going on and we
were having a little like.
Issue with the seatbelt and atthat moment you're like, oh
dude, do you need help withthat?
I'm like, yeah, why not?
So I think you were I think
Jordan (11:28):
that's yeah when things
may have gone.
Yeah,
Lindsay (11:30):
and so then you helped
me with the good old stroller
car seat and We
Jordan (11:41):
talked
Lindsay (11:44):
and we chatted and we
had a great like
Jordan (11:46):
trip all the way up
there.
Yeah, it's like an hour About anhour away.
Yeah
Lindsay (11:51):
Mm.
Yeah.
It's an hour away.
Jordan (11:55):
Yeah.
So it's not that close.
Pull
Lindsay (11:58):
in, I dunno.
Yeah.
Pull in.
I head up front to grab thebags.
I see one and I'm like, oh, werethe other two small
Jordan (12:06):
bags, And I was like,
she's like, I don't have'em.
Are you kidding?
Yeah.
You were like, you were like, whatcha talking about.
I was like, Lindsay, you weresitting in the back there, in
the back, right?
They're back there, right?
Lindsay (12:21):
No.
And that's when, uh, I probablyalmost barfed
Jordan (12:24):
everywhere.
I think, yeah, I think, yeah.
So I, like, hurried.
I was like, Oh my god, I justfully did not pack Lindsay's
things like
Lindsay (12:34):
it took us both like a
hot minute to be like we really
both like forgot that
Jordan (12:39):
yeah like she's sitting
on your porch
Lindsay (12:40):
yeah like for for reals
it was both our issue because
you were you were helping me yougot distracted I got distracted
I should have like totallydouble checked because I'm the
freaking mom.
Jordan (12:51):
But you may have like
double checked and in your head
been like, Yeah, well Jordan hadthat pile of stuff.
I saw my bag in her car.
It's like clearly she grabbedthat stuff.
I, like, it's, yeah, it's aforgivable mistake.
But anyway, don't make thatmistake everybody.
It was so, it was so stressful.
Because 7.
30 in the morning, so peoplestill aren't up and about.
But I called my husband anyway,I'm like, Adrian, help.
(13:14):
You've gotta get our kid up.
See if my sister can watch her.
and drive as fast as you can tothe airport.
And he's like, okay, well, shejust woke up.
Jocelyn has to work, and I waslike, oh my
Lindsay (13:28):
god.
Yeah, and it was just, all ittook was probably ten long
seconds of like, And I was like,I'm
Jordan (13:35):
calling my neighbor.
I could see your face in myhead.
You were like, this isn't goingto work.
This isn't going to work.
Like, I don't have time for himto pack up her kid.
Lindsay (13:43):
As much as I'd be like,
of course, like, I want you to
like, make sure that your babycan come and like, and like, in
that moment, you're just like, Ican't actually, can not handle,
Jordan (13:54):
nope, that's nope.
So thank God Lindsay has anotherreally good neighbor.
Yeah.
So
Lindsay (14:00):
I was like, I'm calling
my neighbors right now because I
know their home.
and I'm like dude.
I'm so sorry to get you out ofbed right now.
You gotta do me the biggestBiggest favor.
There are two bags outside myfront door Those are mine, and I
am at the airport, and I needthem now.
And she's like, Okay.
So she like, literally crawledout of bed, went over, kept in
(14:24):
touch with me.
Have you ever been so like kindof anxiously nervous your body
just uncontrollably shakes Yeah,a little like tremor.
Yeah, like tremor like that wasgoing on So I just had to like
keep my cool like breathe andkeep my cool cuz I had already
like I was by myself.
You're
Jordan (14:39):
already traveling alone
with a one year old.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's not a lot.
It's a big task.
Such a big task.
I don't know
Lindsay (14:46):
why, like, it's just so
freaky.
I got it down.
I have a system down with what Ineed to bring and how many
packets I have.
Jordan (14:51):
Yeah, but it doesn't
matter because there are so many
variables that are outside ofyour control.
Yes.
Yeah.
Is there going to be traffic?
Is there going to be, like, ahuge line at TSA?
I mean, it's like one of thebusiest travel days of the year
that you were traveling
Lindsay (15:02):
on.
Yeah, I'm like, there's thatline inside is probably
enormous, but oh my God.
Um, fast forward, the TSA wasincredibly
Jordan (15:10):
quick.
She made it on her flight, everyone.
I did run.
I would like everyone to knowthat she made it on her, I did
not ruin her travel.
No, and here's the
Lindsay (15:19):
thing too, I was
talking to my therapist about
this.
Of course.
Here's the thing too.
It would have worked out.
I would have gotten on anotherflight.
I would have like.
Eventually, but you would havebeen
Jordan (15:30):
stuck at the airport
with a one year old who you
didn't pack enough food for afull day for.
Like.
It would have been, I mean, Iwould have been driving up.
I, I would have fixed it.
I would have made sure your kidhad food, but yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, yeah, you would havesurvived and you would have made
it to Michigan eventually.
Yeah.
But I would not wish thatexperience on anyone.
(15:53):
Yeah.
Lindsay (15:53):
So anyways, I had the
tremors going.
And I go, like, I say mygoodbyes to Jordan and she just
feels like a dick.
And I'm like, dude, it's
Jordan (16:01):
okay.
Like, I feel like such anasshole.
Did I Marco Polo Lindsay everysingle like five minutes on the
way back?
Like, don't worry.
The traffic is still clear onthe other side of the freeway.
I will let you know in five moreminutes what it looks like.
So that's all I could do.
I had nothing else to do.
I was like, I was such a good,
Lindsay (16:20):
you're a good friend
for just like making sure.
I go inside and I'm just likethinking, like, bring it down a
notch.
My daughter's happiest can beand I was like, I'm checking
this bag.
I brought a carry on, the bagthat you packed.
I was going to do a carry on.
Um, but I was like, no, I'mchecking this and one last thing
to do.
So I like call my husband, tellhim, he's like, yo, what's up?
(16:44):
How's the day?
How's the travel going?
Like, I'm like, well, well, Ithink I have enough time, but
I'm not a hundred percent sure.
Here's the situation.
And I broke down in
Jordan (16:55):
tears.
Yeah, I'm sure you did,
Lindsay (16:59):
dude.
I broke down in tears and I justthought, cause he was just like.
It's okay, it's okay, we'llfigure it out, like, it'll be
fine, and I was like, I thinkI'm just, I'm not like Sad I'm
just like kind of disappointedin myself that I didn't double
check like something thatsimple.
Jordan (17:14):
Yeah, and obviously like
the lead up to a flight Brings
with it a little bit of Extrajust mental load and nervousness
and whatever else.
And if you're doing it with ababy, especially, yeah, you're
going to have a lot of tensionand anxiety that you're bringing
with you with through all thatplanning, all that preparation,
and then you get there and itdidn't all go according to plan.
(17:35):
Like any situation you putyourself in where there's that
much planning and preparationand it goes to shit, you're
going to be feeling.
Bummed.
Oh, yeah, so bummed.
Lindsay (17:44):
Yeah, but it wasn't
like a full on ball sesh It was
just like my nerves my nervesystem was like kind of
releasing itself totally And sobut he made me feel great and I
knew I was gonna be fine and Iwas like, okay let's let's just
go over to this like quiet areain the corner before we go
through TSA and my daughter hada wonderful time, like she
pushed the stroller, she played, there was someone with her puppy
(18:08):
and she was just obsessed andlike, it was a really like, good
time for her to be active andplay around and whatever, and my
neighbor, she's so great, shecalls me and she's keeping me
posted, she's like, alright, I'mat this door, like poor thing is
like in her pajamas still.
Oh, I think she was in herslippers still and like, no
coffee
Jordan (18:27):
yet.
Nothing.
And I'm like, was God bless
Lindsay (18:30):
you, Lindsay's
neighbor.
I like, wish I could have talkedto her for a few extra minutes
in that moment, but I had tolike literally run Mm-Hmm.
So I was like, thank you, thankyou, thank you.
You have no idea.
I owe you like.
Bye.
We'll get you something.
I gotta go.
I turn around and just startrunning.
And then TSA was wonderful.
And this TSA security check.
(18:50):
She saw my stroller and she'slike, Alright, bring that over
and get ahead of everybody.
And
Jordan (18:55):
I'm like, you
Lindsay (18:56):
got it.
I got in front of everybody.
It was quick.
I love that.
Yeah, it was a quick, like, Itwas quick to get through.
I tied my shoes and we juststarted running.
Jordan (19:07):
Because by now your
gate's open.
Yeah.
It's probably closing prettysoon.
Lindsay (19:11):
Yeah, we were running
and so it was so cute because I
would like look down at my
Jordan (19:16):
daughter and her hair's
just like fluffing in the wind.
And she's like looking
Lindsay (19:22):
around chill.
So no time for a potty, no timefor a diaper change.
Uh, yeah, so my body kind ofwent through the wringer as far
as like just being like anxious, nauseous, adrenaline, sweating
from running.
Mhm.
(19:42):
Took me a hot minute to comedown, but I turned my wifi on.
I got a hold of you, I think,and I was like, I'm Jill, and
I'm finally relaxed.
I think I was like halfwaythrough there.
From halfway through the flight.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So my first tip
Jordan (19:58):
Our, our first tip for
all of you friends driving your
friends to the airport.
Do you have all your bags?
Do you have them all with you?
Did you bring them?
You packed them.
Did you put them in the car?
Cause you're gonna need them.
Shit.
Ugh, God.
Yeah.
Alright, so real talk though.
(20:18):
Traveling with kids is, it'slike one of those things, right?
It's like this thing whereeveryone's like.
It's the extremes, eitherthey're like, You gotta travel
with your kid, it's magical andbeautiful.
Which is like, fine, true, enough or whatever.
And then the other end is like,Why would you take your kid on a
plane or on this trip?
A, they're not gonna rememberit.
B, it's a pain in the butt, likejust stay
Lindsay (20:40):
home.
Yeah, and it's so funny too, because yeah, for some people
they'd be like, I'll never evertravel again until they're like.
Self sufficient children orsomething.
Totally.
Or kids or teenagers or whateverand like I'm just like, yeah,
let's go again.
Jordan (20:56):
I don't think it's that
bad.
Crazy.
Yeah, I totally don't think it'sthat bad and this is why like
you're either when you have akid You're committing to caring
for and looking after that kidLike all the time always, no
matter what.
So you can either go on a tripand care for them all the time
always or stay at home and carefor them all the time always.
And I kind of just get bored athome.
(21:17):
So I, I'm like on the trip endof the fence.
We don't go out too, I mean, Isay we don't go out too much.
Our plan right now is to nottake too many trips in the next
like couple of years, but wehave taken our kid on two
international trips and she'slike just over one.
Mm hmm.
So
Lindsay (21:33):
I guess.
It was so reassuring and seeingher little journey to the UK and
how awesome she did on theplane.
Yeah, she did so well.
See, I, I think I'm just likesuper terrified of my daughter
being overtired.
I'm terrified
Jordan (21:48):
of that situation.
I mean, you have every right tobe because you, you've, have
you, no, you did, you did gowith Andrew once, but most of
the time you've flown with her.
It's been solo, which is nuts.
Lindsay (21:59):
Yeah.
I'm fairly certain I did 11flights solo with her from the
age, from between 6 months and12 months.
I'm pretty sure all of those 11were solo.
That's savage.
Or at least 7 of
Jordan (22:11):
them were.
Yeah, which is a lot still.
Yeah.
That's a lot of times going on aplane alone with your kid.
Little, little, little kid.
Lindsay (22:20):
Yeah, it's uh, it's a
whole thing if you're with a
partner, and then it's alsosomething a whole, a whole new
thing if you're by yourself.
Yeah.
But like, I got that system downpretty quick.
After that first plane, I waslike, I do not need this much
Jordan (22:33):
shit on me.
Yeah.
This is all Yeah, so tell us,tell us, tell us the thing.
So like Yeah, what's yoursystem?
Walk us through
Lindsay (22:40):
it.
So this is my kind of take onsolo travel, but this could
obviously work great withanother person too, because
you're just, sometimes there'sjust too much shit.
And, there's, you don't need it,you don't need it.
Um, so, I do have a few thingsthat like have worked really
well for me.
First and foremost, we Duna carseat stroller.
(23:04):
And, I actually got that onFacebook Marketplace.
Jordan (23:08):
Bad girl.
Yeah, I'm
Lindsay (23:10):
bad.
But I like made sure it was safeand I made sure it wasn't
expired.
And like made sure it wasregistered, you know, all the
things.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, of course.
So we got it on Facebookmarketplace, but it's been the
best purchase I could have evergotten.
Yeah, I'm sure.
So I do recommend the Duna.
for, uh, airplane travel, you donot need a base for it.
(23:32):
We went to Alaska with itwithout a base, it was great.
The thing about it is you haveto gate check it.
I prefer to gate check it.
I don't prefer to Does it not goon a plane?
Not under, not, well, I mean itdoes.
I just gate check it.
No,
Jordan (23:47):
yeah, yeah, but some, I
think there are some car seats
that are like airplanecompatible.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Lindsay (23:51):
yeah.
Yeah, it does but like dude,it's just so heavy Yeah, the
dune is known to be heavy And soit's heavy and it's bulky as far
as sitting in like a row AndI've been
Jordan (24:04):
doing her on my lap.
Did we even talk about what itis?
What do people, people might notknow what a Duna is.
So the reason the Duna isawesome is because, and maybe we
said something like this and youprobably already intuited it,
but the Duna is a car seat thatdoubles as like a little
Lindsay (24:20):
stroller.
Yep.
Yeah.
But it's really nice becausewhen you take it out of the car
You just hit that button andit's a stroller.
Yeah, so it's it's it's reallynice.
Like if you have infant.
Mm hmm or child under 35 poundsTo stroll through the airport.
Jordan (24:36):
Yeah, you have to stroll
through the airport.
You 1000 percent have
Lindsay (24:39):
to stroll.
There's moms that are out therethat have a ton of those
carriers.
Jordan (24:42):
Yeah, but at some point,
yeah.
So we did both like we did likea little like hybrid system.
So we have obviously when you'retraveling you need a car seat.
Yeah.
There's the option of rentingone when you rent a car.
If you're going to rent a car,um, a, you might not be renting
a car be like, do you reallywant to trust the car and old
places?
I'm sure they're fine.
Yeah.
Like I'm sure they're fine.
(25:02):
But I would just rather my kidbe in the seat that they, that
they know and the seat that weknow.
Cause we all know that gettingused to new kids stuff can be a
pain.
Yeah.
So yeah, you need your, uh, carseat, you need a stroller and
then.
Yeah, a baby carrier you don'tnecessarily need.
Like when they're a tiny infant,it's probably easy to baby carry
them around the airport Yeah, yeah, but once they gain like
(25:25):
even the littlest bit ofindependence and mobility they
They're not going to be happywith that for two hours or
whatever that it's going to takeyou to get through the airport
So yeah, when we traveled Bothtimes we we took a stroller.
We'd have like a like a um Whatis it called?
Your travel stroller?
No, just like When you can fitit in the overhead bag.
Lindsay (25:46):
It's just a carry on.
Jordan (25:48):
Yes, thank you.
And we have a carry on sizestroller.
So it like packs down to be thesize that a carry on bag is.
Um, and we have That's nice.
It is actually super nice.
And it packs down like with justone hand.
Yeah.
Which is insane.
Yeah.
And then we also bring a babycarrier.
So we have kind of options.
When we're going through TSA, wetake the kid out of the
stroller.
(26:08):
And she just does better in thestroller anyway.
And then Yeah, you want astroller in the place where
you're going because you're, ifyou're traveling, you're
probably going to be out walkingaround doing new things.
Sure.
Which is stroller time.
So you kind of need both ofthose things, which is why the
doona is pretty
Lindsay (26:23):
sick.
Yeah, but, so I gate check thisthing.
Mm-Hmm.
all the way.
And here's the thing though, Idon't use the Duna gate check
bag because you can't reallyutilize it with one hand.
Oh.
Oh, I see.
When you're a solo parent, UhhuhAmazon makes this like cheap$25
drawstring cord cover bag, andit fits a ton of like.
(26:46):
Different car seats.
Yeah, car seats.
Yeah, cool.
And you can literally do it withone hand.
So I literally just go throughthe whole airport in this
stroller, go to our gate, getthe gate check tag.
Uh huh.
And then I actually board last.
One of the last people.
They actually, they alwaysrecommend, you know, families
with littles to go on first, butmy god.
(27:07):
It's like so hot.
It's no way.
Jordan (27:10):
You're going to be on
that plane for long enough as it
is.
I am 1000 percent a last on theplane kind of gal.
Lindsay (27:16):
Um, so.
We board kind of last, and thenI just go down the thing.
Jordan (27:24):
I don't know what it's
called.
Don't look at me.
Long hallway to get onto yourplane.
The hallway.
The long It's
Lindsay (27:34):
not a hallway.
I don't know.
If someone could
Jordan (27:40):
Don't tell us.
We don't care anymore.
We're over it.
Lindsay (27:46):
I get down to the end
before getting on the plane.
Seriously.
I hit that button on that duna, collapse it with her in it.
Grab that like draw Jen coverbag.
Get the whole thing up.
And then I like, while she'ssitting in it, I pull, I get it
on halfway.
Mm-Hmm.
Pull her out and literally myleft hand like pull the rest of
it.
Wow.
Draw string it and it's good togo.
(28:06):
Wow.
Slick.
Yeah.
It's so nice.
Go work.
Yeah, and then when keepingthings minimal, my diaper bag is
a backpack.
Yeah, like a little one.
Yep, so it's like over myshoulders, it's not, you know,
it's like.
not an extra bag I'm holdingonto with my other hand.
Um, and the way I do it is Ijust do, like, snacks and toys
(28:28):
on top.
So if I don't need but couldneed on the bottom, something
that I'm not digging for, um,diapers and wipes, like, easily
accessible on the front pocket.
I always have my passport and IDand a copy of her birth
certificate if I need it in thatfront pocket too, yeah.
And then I actually, one thingthat I.
(28:49):
Do like to do.
I needed to do this when we wentto Alaska when she was really
little, was I preloaded syringesof meds.
Wow.
And put it in a Ziploc
Jordan (29:01):
bag.
I said once that you're liketype A plus And this is it you
guys.
Lindsay (29:06):
I am not messing around
looking for med like her little
med.
bag that's in like the checkedbag, you know?
Yeah.
Or
Jordan (29:16):
emergency kit or
whatever.
Pre loaded syringes.
How do you even make sure thatthey don't, like They just
Lindsay (29:22):
haven't yet.
Wow.
So I just pre load the actualdose.
They just stay in.
Yeah, I do like the Tylenol andthe gripe water.
Damn.
I mean, I don't, she doesn'tneed gripe water anymore, but
Tylenol is relevant.
But I do that and an extra paciin a Ziploc bag and I have that
like, in like it's own littlepocket.
And it's, boom, it's
Jordan (29:41):
ready if I ever need it.
Um, that'd be great on a longhaul flight.
Like, I was worried about that alittle bit when we were flying
to the UK, because it's, I don'tknow, like an 11 hour flight, I
think, from Salt Lake to London.
Um, and we did the Nellie stop, but that's a long, that's a long
time to be on a plane with a,she was seven, I want to say
seven months old.
(30:02):
Which was wild.
So I did bring like Tylenol, butI didn't think to preload
syringes or anything like that.
Yeah.
And she was, she was teething atthe time, which was a little bit
of a, I was scared, but she didgreat.
She did super great.
Yeah.
Oh, with like her ears andstuff.
With everything.
I mean, just generally she didgreat.
Yeah.
I didn't need to use anymedicine.
She was chill the whole time.
Yeah.
Lindsay (30:22):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Anyway.
So I just keep that diaper bag, backpack, like super minimal.
And then, um, Yeah, like thesnacks thing, that thing is full
of snacks, like ready to
Jordan (30:33):
go.
Snacks are like Snack cup.
Yeah.
The snack cup is key toobecause, um, I mean, I'm sure
that a lot of moms out therealready know this, but the cup's
nice because it slows them downa little bit.
Yes.
And makes the snack last like, you know, that little bit
longer, which keeps them thatlittle bit happier.
Yes.
Lindsay (30:51):
Yeah, and then like
toys, I just, what I did, which
really helped was I got, Acouple like interactive books,
not just like normal books, likeinteractive books.
We borrowed one of yours.
That was wonderful.
Fidget toys, post it notes.
I like drew on like a handful, like I, we have a package of
post its and I drew like on abunch of them and then like that
(31:13):
kept her busy for quite sometime.
I did bring.
Painter's Tape.
The thing about Painter's Tape.
It's great for the destiny, likeif you're like staying in a
hotel or something that's kindof blah.
It's great to have because youcan get a lot of imagination
going.
But TSA has to check it.
(31:36):
Oh, annoying.
And I'm like, man, that, thatcould have saved me like five
minutes.
And then all of a sudden, like, you're like, I don't have time
to like, go dig for thispainter's tape on the plane and
like, set something up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, no.
So that, that seemed like agreat, like cool idea, but I
think that's great for maybelike our destination And then
(31:57):
she is into these like easylooking like flashcards, like
just like simple images on'em.
So ipu, I punched a hole in thecorner of those and put'em on
like a metal ring.
So they went like, fall over.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
Great idea.
Ground stuff.
So yeah, that was really cool.
But I just kept new toys andthen every time she was sick of
it, it was like onto the next, yeah, on the next, on the next
(32:17):
shuffle.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fidget toys were great.
Jordan (32:21):
Yeah.
One thing that we brought, aslike an emergency thing just in
case was an iPad that had somedownloaded episodes of Miss
Rachel Yeah.
For when everything else as likea last line of defense.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Lindsay (32:33):
I had that ready to go
on my phone.
Yeah.
But that's.
That's a good call
Jordan (32:36):
too.
The phone's harder for usbecause my kid knows that she
can like, interact with thephone, but she doesn't realize
that when she's like, messingaround with it, it turns the
show off.
Yeah.
And then she gets mad and itkind of is like this cyclical
thing.
Yeah.
But yeah, and if you hold it forher, she still kind of gets
frustrated.
So the iPad works a little, Imean, obviously she can still do
that with the iPad, but shedoesn't really, like, the iPad's
(32:58):
not as accessible day to day,she doesn't see me interacting
with it as much, so she kind offorgets that it's a thing that
she can manipulate.
I
Lindsay (33:05):
should try that with my
daughter and see if, like,
There's a difference.
There's gotta be.
Maybe.
That's really, that's
Jordan (33:10):
really cool.
I don't know, yeah, just a funfact.
But yeah, like the, the media onthe planes could I guess work
too, probably for like olderkids but there aren't kid
headphones for like toddlers andbabies.
No, they have to be like somekind of certain.
I can't find any.
They like don't exist.
Yeah.
So that kind of makes thattricky.
(33:30):
We would turn on like the
Lindsay (33:31):
kid show or kid movie
and she would like look at it.
For a
Jordan (33:35):
second.
Yeah.
But like can't hear it.
Yeah, so it's not ascaptivating.
Yeah.
And then hopefully they nap onthe plane.
That's like.
Yeah.
When you know you've scored.
When we went to Mexico, we wentto Mexico recently, and my kid
was just.
A little over a year old.
And our flight was, I just, Ididn't plan this.
(33:55):
This is just like the magicaluniverse.
Yeah.
Giving me a little break.
Yeah.
Um, but our flight was literallyLike the time that I put her
down for a nap, typically.
So they say to feed your kidwhen you take off, right?
To help to regulate their earsand everything.
So we were taking off, I wasbreastfeeding her.
bottle feeding also works great.
Anything, even like a pacifier.
(34:16):
Anything they're sucking willhelp to pop their ears or
whatever.
she I just fell asleep and I wassitting in the middle seat.
My husband was to my right andmy sister was to my left.
So we kind of, all three of ushad the row and that meant that
my kid could just splay out onall of us.
And it was perfect.
She slept for like most of theflight and it was a dream.
(34:37):
Yeah.
Lindsay (34:37):
I was stoked.
I love that.
We, that's how I planned ourtravel over the summer.
But we had connecting flights, and so it got a little tricky,
but she did eventually do it.
yeah, I love that, like, feedingthem at takeoff is so ideal.
I gave her Like water on when wewere landing because she was
like kind of grabbing her earsand like kind of you can tell
(34:58):
she was like Uncomfortable likewhat was going on?
Yeah, so I just gave her likewater and it helped a lot What
else baby
Jordan (35:05):
headphones this is on
the note of baby headphones I
was talking about like audioheadphones, but there are also
those, like, baby ear mufflersound things, because some
people were saying that thenoise of the plane can kind of
be too, like, the volume's toohigh for their little ears or
whatever, so I got a littlenervous and I borrowed some
headphones.
(35:25):
I didn't borrow those from youfor the first flight, because
you hadn't gone out yet.
Anyway, so the first flight tothe UK, we did not have them,
and it went fine, and herhearing's just fine.
Yeah.
And then the second flight toMexico, I borrowed them from
Lindsey, thinking, uh, maybethis would be a good thing to
have.
They did entertain her, like,I'll give them that.
They definitely entertained her.
Yeah, that's like something tosay.
But she, by the time your kid isone, they're not going to keep
(35:48):
those things on their head.
I was like, yeah, right.
Yeah,
Lindsay (35:51):
it brought those, uh,
Michigan to, here's the thing.
She kept, like when they woulddo announcements over the, you
know, the pilot or the whoeverwas doing, then that was waking
her up.
I was like, man, I get those, those headphones because that'll
help.
But then I just covered her earswith my hands and it was fine.
So that was like one thing thatlike, that sounds cool to have.
(36:13):
But it's not realistic.
Yeah, I appreciate having thosein the stroller when we're out
walking out and about in casethere's like an ambulance
driving by or something
Jordan (36:23):
like really loud like a
fire truck or something.
Lindsay (36:26):
I appreciate having
them in my stroller for those
reasons, but as far as travelgoes it's just like, they're
bulky and they're in the way andlike, I mean they're a great
item
Jordan (36:34):
for her to play with
too.
Totally.
She, like, honestly she lovedplaying with them enough that it
was almost just worth having itas a toy.
Yeah.
Lindsay (36:41):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, moving on, okay, so if youhave a child that you are bottle
feeding, Right.
This was easier for me toutilize like my pumping cooler
that I used to use.
I pre filled her bottles withwater.
Oh, smart.
And TSA allows that.
(37:03):
They're like, yep, it's water inher bottles for formula.
And I bought these, formulacontainers that are like a one
hand pour container.
So I got all her bottles likeready for the day.
I don't, she doesn't need,necessarily need it warmed up,
but they do recommend thatformula I think is a hundred
degrees Fahrenheit.
So what I would do is before Iwould go on the plane.
(37:25):
Before I would board, I'd belike, okay, I'm going to go to
Starby's, or another coffeeshop, get a hot water, then
we're all going to go to therestroom, I'm going to change
her unused restroom, all whileI'm warming up this bottle, In
this like hot cup on the sink orwhatever.
Yeah, and then I would add theformula after it was warm.
(37:45):
Then we would board the planelast and it was ready to go.
Yeah.
I liked having that like coolerbag because then I could have it
for The rest of the travel if Ineed to put snacks in it later
or whatever So that was reallyhelpful as a solo parent having
all that like like I said preloaded syringes.
Yeah Bottles if you'rebreastfeeding like yourself,
(38:10):
that's obviously Wonderful.
Jordan (38:12):
Yeah.
Lindsay (38:14):
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
Yep yeah, so those were like theonly two bags I had was just the
diaper bag and the cooler bag.
Like, yeah.
The only two bags you had.
Eventually.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Jordan (38:27):
Yeah, that sounds nice.
I definitely agree with youabout keeping it light.
I think that a common tip, travel tip, for traveling with
infants, is um, Askingespecially if it's a long haul
flight.
I don't know if they have theseon the shorter flights I don't
think they do have them ondomestic flights, but on a long
haul flights they have your timebaby bassinet.
Yeah,
Lindsay (38:44):
okay I have not I've
never seen those until you
showed me that because I'venever traveled internationally
to Europe Yeah, okay, so I'venever seen those.
Yeah, they're
Jordan (38:55):
really cool.
So what's great about them isobviously you have a place to
put your baby It's not like themost beautiful bed.
You've ever put your child in Ilike by any stretch of the
imagination But when they fallasleep you have somewhere to put
them That's not just one of youguys holding the kid.
Yeah, which is really reallynice And it did actually work
for at least a couple of hours.
Yeah.
Yeah, I will say though that thebest part of Requesting the
(39:16):
bassinet seats is that you endup in kind of a middle usually
there are four seats Oh, she upright behind two bassinets.
So you end up in one of thoseaisles, the middle aisle with
four seats, but the distancebetween the seat and the wall
where the bassinet is, is likedouble or triple the distance
that you would get in any otherseat on the plane.
(39:37):
That's so you actually have tonsof space in front of you.
There was enough space in frontof us and no one else was on the
row Thankfully, we had tons ofspace to ourselves, which was
so, so good.
But the nicest part was we couldlay down one of the little
blankets.
They give you little blanketswhen you go on these long haul
flights.
And we just laid one of thoselittle blankets down, and there
was totally space for her toplay.
Like, get on her belly, do tummytime.
(40:00):
Yeah.
Roll around.
Yeah.
Like, kind of practice standingon the edge of the seat.
Oh, that's nice.
Okay, noted.
It was a game changer.
So, asking for the bassinet, even if you don't, if you don't
think you want to use thebassinet, fine, cool, don't use
it, but just know that you'regetting a lot of extra space to
set your kid down.
If they do have
Lindsay (40:15):
that available.
You could toss all your toys inthat bassinet.
Absolutely.
Or something.
You
Jordan (40:18):
for sure could.
Yeah.
Lindsay (40:20):
Yeah.
Oh, I love that tip.
Yeah.
Jordan (40:22):
My kid spit up quite a
bit.
For a while.
Oh, sure.
And I was definitely still inthe spit up phase when we went
to the UK.
So I packed her, you know, acouple extra outfits, because
sometimes we just blow throughlike two or three outfits.
Oh, yeah.
So I was like, prepping.
We've got plenty of outfits.
What I did not pack was an extrashirt for me.
Oh.
Lindsay (40:39):
Hahaha.
Jordan (40:42):
So, um, just think about
that if your kid spits up a lot
and you're on a plane whereyou're holding them in a very
specific way and there's not alot of space for them to just be
laying down, spitting up to theside.
Lindsay (40:52):
Roll that shirt up and
put it at the bottom of the
diaper rack.
Jordan (40:55):
Yeah, you want a shirt
for yourself.
For sure.
Lindsay (40:57):
Noted.
Yeah.
Yeah, so those, those are thekind of like simple things that
I pack or take along with me,solo parenting, obviously those,
I'll probably keep it thatsimple when I travel with my
spouse or another person aswell.
Less is more.
Jordan (41:12):
I was going to say one
thing that I wanted to mention
when you were talking about gatechecking the DUNA is we gate
checked our kids.
Car seat for our firstinternational flight to the UK.
And then when we went to Mexico,we, we also checked the car
seat, but we checked it, just atthe normal spot where you check
bags.
Because, once you wrap it inits, Like a case you can shove
(41:34):
all sorts of stuff in there.
So we wrapped it up and thenjust shoved like a couple of
Adrienne's things and just likereally utilized that space as
extra packing so that we couldbe lighter through the airport,
which was awesome.
Oh, another thing, so, um,Lindsay was saying about, the
bottles being able to have waterin them when they go through
TSA.
So when we went to the UK, we, Iaccidentally just had my full
(41:57):
Nalgene.
I, like, come on.
I've traveled so many times.
I don't know how I messed it up.
Nalgene full of water in thebottom of her stroller.
So we go through TSA, I put thestroller through, and the agent
gives me this like, look, head'stilted down, his eyes are like,
pointed up at me, eyebrowsraised, like, so is this for
her?
Food.
Like, is this for formula?
And I was like, no, I justtotally spaced.
(42:18):
I'm so sorry.
And he looked at me again and hewas like, is this for formula?
And I was like, it's really not.
And I'm an idiot.
He was just being nice.
You guys, he was like, he waslike, okay, I'm just going to
walk you through this.
If this is for formula.
Then I just have to test it realquick and I can give it back to
(42:39):
you.
And if it's not for formula, Ihave to dispose of the whole
thing.
So, and then he looked at me onemore time, and was like, Is this
for a formula?
And I was like, Oh, uh, yeah.
That's, mm hmm, totally.
That is for my kid's food.
She needs that.
She needs
Lindsay (43:00):
that.
Yes, you can totally go throughYeah, it doesn't have
Jordan (43:04):
to bottle.
Yeah, any, any bottle of watergoes through if it's for your
kid.
So, if you don't even
Lindsay (43:09):
have formula on you.
Yeah.
No.
Jordan (43:12):
Nope.
Not at all.
And
Lindsay (43:13):
you're like, yeah, I
need that water because I need
water for her for to have breast
Jordan (43:17):
milk.
They don't ask you any questionsbesides that.
Yeah.
When you've got a kid there,they're like, you're
Lindsay (43:21):
good to go.
Yeah.
Jordan (43:22):
So yeah.
I was like, oh, noted.
Mm-Hmm.
Thank you, sir.
Yeah.
Okay, so then I have a coupleother things to mention for when
you're actually at yourdestination, enjoying yourselves
on your trip.
So one of the things that Iloved, we went on a little trip
to California just to see thecoast in the summer in our van.
And I was really worried aboutnap times because I didn't want
(43:44):
her napping in the heat in thevan.
Yeah.
Where am I going to take her?
We're in the van.
Yeah.
We stayed in the airbnb for aminute, but we're like, okay, I
can't do this.
So the, one of the great thingswas having a baby carrier
actually worked really well fornap time.
So we would just be at the beachand when it was like about nap
time, I'd put her in the carrierand put the little hood up over
her head and she slept actuallyreally well.
(44:06):
And me and Adrian would just goon a little walk down the beach.
Yep.
And come back and she may nothave taken as great of a nap as
she would have, but it was stillsomething that I, yeah, and you
don't have to be fretting aboutlike what you're going to do.
So if you're out and aboutanywhere, I think that that
would be a really good, a reallygood little travel tip.
And then for naps, otherwise, afew of the Airbnbs we've stayed
at, we had, like, a littletravel crib available to us.
(44:29):
But I really like the one thatwe have, it's a Lotus, a Guava
Lotus travel crib.
It's great because it also packsdown to be a carry on size,
which means it's really light.
Yes.
Packable.
Um, it also has like littlebackpack straps, but, uh, what I
would do is put my kid down init for her naps, like two weeks
leading up to the trip so thatshe actually gets used to being
(44:51):
in there because we don't use itat home.
Yeah.
But for naps, I would just puther down every other day, put
her down in a nap in that, justso that she got used to it.
I've heard of these likeslumber, slumber pod.
Yeah, those look cool.
Have you seen those?
They look sick.
They do look cool.
I bet they work really well, too.
We
Lindsay (45:05):
haven't tried one.
We have like a dark cover thatwe just throw over the top.
Yeah.
I borrowed your Lotus for ourfirst trip to Alaska.
Oh, yeah, that's right I forgotabout the reason I got this
black covers because we were inAlaska in June right after
summer solstice And so it waslight out right and oh man I'm
not sure and this was when shewas really little and so we got
(45:29):
that black cover thing and itworked Wonderful for her.
Jordan (45:31):
Yeah, that's great.
so that's something that can bereally nice to bring along.
It's not like super necessary tobring it.
We did bring it to Mexico.
Like I said, we didn't bring itto the UK and A couple places
where we slept we didn't have alittle travel crib and we just
opted to like let her sleep withus in bed just really carefully.
Which isn't ideal but it is alsobetter than hauling around a
(45:54):
travel crib.
Yeah, you gotta really pare itdown when you're traveling with
a kid because there's so muchextra stuff.
Man, when me and Adrienne usedto travel it would be like one
teeny little bag.
and now it's like, seven bags, let's, I mean, not actually
seven, but pretty close when youget the stroller, and you get
the chopper crib, and you getthe car seat.
That's already three, and that'snot even including any luggage.
(46:15):
Which is a little wild.
Um, and let's see, that's prettymuch it for me, I think.
Lindsay (46:20):
Cool.
Keep it simple.
Keep it chill.
Yeah.
I mean try to keep yourselfchill.
Mm hmm.
It's, it's phenomenal how likeentertained they actually are
with.
Being in a new space.
Totally.
Oh.
Taking them on that walkingthing.
Oh my
Jordan (46:34):
god.
My kid loves being in a newspace.
My daughter loves
Lindsay (46:38):
that pamphlet thing in
the seat like more than her
toys.
Jordan (46:42):
Yeah.
It's so funny.
Yeah, you can always findsomething.
You know what my experience withtraveling has always been is
that, um, I was nervous thatpeople would be really
frustrated with there being ababy.
Hmm.
And despite the fact that, youknow, my kid did pretty well, I
also found literally everyonearound me, the flight
attendants, the passengers, wereso gracious and, like, really
(47:04):
went out of their way to makesure that I knew that they were
comfortable and not that theywere going to be okay and
supportive if anything, if shithit the fan up there.
I
Lindsay (47:12):
loved, when I would
walk, okay, so I'm bored.
Mentioned I board last, like weget on the plane and I loved
hearing like all the comments, like as you're going down the
aisle, people are like, Soyou're like, oh, this is so
good, like I feel
Jordan (47:24):
welcomed.
And I think that's what thosepeople are saying comments for,
for the most part, is just tomake sure that you know, as like
a nervous traveling mom, Yeah,yeah.
That, yeah, you and your babyare welcome.
Lindsay (47:35):
I will say the suckiest
thing to do.
When you're on the plane withyour child has changed
Jordan (47:41):
their diaper.
It is not nice.
No.
Ooh, that reminds me.
I, do you have like a littlelike pad to lay her down on?
I do,
Lindsay (47:50):
but the, the, on the
plane ride to Michigan I had to
because I didn't have time.
Yeah.
And poopy diaper, yep, you gottachange that when you're on a
plane.
Yeah, for sure you do.
And the thing wouldn't comeundone.
Like it's, of the, it's like atray that comes off.
from the ceiling.
Jordan (48:08):
Okay, so you're talking
about the changing table.
Yeah, the changing table on theairplane's bathroom.
Yeah, it would
Lindsay (48:13):
not come down.
So I had to lay her down on thetoilet.
No, you didn't.
With the lid down.
No, you didn't.
Yes, because there was no room.
She's like big.
Yeah.
So like, I mean, she was likehalfway
Jordan (48:24):
on, halfway off.
That's, poopy diaper.
Yes.
She screwed her
Lindsay (48:29):
head off.
But then, on the way back fromMichigan, I had to do it again.
But she didn't poop.
It was just illegal.
She just wasn't settled, so Iwas like, I gotta change this
diaper and it'll help.
There was no changing table intheir bathroom on the plane.
I feel like that's, like,illegal.
(48:50):
I went back to the, I was, like, towards the back of the plane,
okay?
And I, okay, so before thebathroom, there's like this open
space of just like where theflight attendants kind of sit if
they have to, or like storage.
And there was nobody there.
There was, it was like from meto you and like as long as this
table, nobody.
(49:10):
I changed her on the ground.
Oh
Jordan (49:12):
my god.
I mean, you have to.
If there's no changing table, what other option
Lindsay (49:16):
do you have?
I had to.
That's insane.
On the ground of the
Jordan (49:19):
plane.
Oh, I bet she was like, what theheck, mom?
What the heck?
This floor sucks.
It's cold.
It's loud.
It's vibrating.
I had her on a changing
Lindsay (49:28):
pad, but at the same
time, yeah, oh, I felt terrible.
I felt so bad.
And it was just like, I, I haveto do whatever I can the next
time we travel, like, to makesure, like, this is under
control.
Jordan (49:40):
You don't have to ever
do that again.
Yeah, no, that sucks.
But yeah, the changing pad, that's something that I don't, I
didn't have before we startedtraveling because I actually
changed my kit in the back of mycar.
I have, like, a, an SUV.
And I have like a little thing, like a little changing station
because I prefer, it's easier tochange her in my car than in, in
bath, in public bathrooms.
Yes.
And also we go on a lot of hikesand I like to change her before
(50:01):
and after, before and or afterthe hike.
Anyway, but yeah, when we wenttraveling you, you kind of have
to change them in public places.
So having like a little changepad that folds up is definitely
a recommendation for the airportand the plane.
For sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Cool.
Yeah, sweet.
Well, that's, uh.
Let's do it
Lindsay (50:19):
all again.
Jordan (50:20):
Let's do it all.
Where do you want to go?
Let's take our kids somewherefun.
Oh, lord.
Oh, you know what?
One more cool thing was, justreal quick, is at the London
airport, and I think at mostmajor airports, there is a
secret hidden playground.
No way.
Not shitting you.
(50:41):
For like little kids, forparents traveling with little
kids, there's like a kid zone inairports.
That's cool.
That they hide away so that noone else can be bothered by the
little screaming sheds.
Yeah.
Who are trying to get theirwiggles out before a flight.
Yes.
And it is awesome.
It's so awesome.
Like, I mean, it's not going tobe the cleanest place in the
world for your kid to be runningaround.
But if you've committed totraveling on an airplane with
them, then you've kind of.
(51:02):
Yeah, get those wiggles out.
Like, let caution go to the winda little bit.
Cool.
It's really cool.
I don't know if the Salt LakeAirport even has one.
I've like, forgot about it.
And didn't check.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But man, the London airportHeathrow was like, that's
Lindsay (51:14):
impressive.
It was
Jordan (51:15):
cool's really cool that
like it's quiet there.
Heathrow's so busy and sostinking loud all the time.
It was so overstimulating.
And then we're about to get onan 11 hour flight.
Mm-Hmm But when you went intothe little kid zone, it was like
dead silent.
There were like two otherfamilies in there.
I love that.
It was nice for me.
Okay.
Because usually you think a kidarea is gonna be like chaos and
loud and annoying, but this waslike.
(51:36):
Comparatively.
Yeah.
Lindsay (51:38):
It was the opposite.
They were thinking aboutfamilies.
Totally.
For sure.
Jordan (51:41):
Yeah.
That's really cool.
Yeah, so check out to seewhether your airport has one of
those because it's a gamechanger too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Sweet.
Lindsay (51:47):
Alright, do you want to
move, forward?
We're talking, we've beentalking about, like, these cool,
little trending
Jordan (51:53):
we have.
Yeah, let's, let's, yeah, throwit at us.
Yeah,
Lindsay (51:56):
we are.
Okay.
So there's this thing out there.
A lot of people are seeing itbecause it is like all over and
it's called like the ins andouts of 2024.
So it's like your own personal,New Year's resolutions, if you
will.
Okay.
But instead of saying, here's myresolution, sometimes they're
pretty hard to achieve.
(52:17):
People are kind of coming upwith this new concept and
they're saying.
Ins and outs.
So these are my ins this year.
This is my outs
Jordan (52:23):
for this year.
Yeah, I look like a like youwould in fashion or something.
Yeah, yeah,
Lindsay (52:27):
absolutely.
Um, but like I kind of want totake it like a little bit more
so that I can hold myselfaccountable and not do it
seasonally.
Jordan (52:35):
Oh, I like that.
So you're not, so you're givingyourself more opportunities for
flexibility throughout the year.
Yeah, I love that
Lindsay (52:41):
idea.
Yeah, and then maybe keepingsome of them or swapping some
out.
Yeah, that way you can see whatworks for you.
Yep, yep.
So I'm going to ask you whatyour ins and outs could be.
Jordan (52:52):
You're putting me on the
spot.
Lindsay (52:55):
But I, but I have some
too, so I can start if you want.
Jordan (52:58):
Okay, you give me like
at least one or two and then
I'll, I'll rally.
So
Lindsay (53:01):
my ins are, and this is
as random as it can be, kind of
like whatever you're like, I'mgoing to do some of that or no,
I'm going to kick this out of myroutine.
So my ins are thrifting.
Oh, love it.
That's a really big, like coolthing right now.
Like I, I'm loving thrifting.
I'm loving being on thriftingalgorithm.
(53:21):
It's really fun.
Um, that's one cool thing.
There's some gems out there.
I bet.
Especially if like there's everany estate sales.
Ooh, there's some gems.
I want some, like I'm dying tofind like the perfect Levi denim
gene, like worn in.
Yes.
I gotta get them thrifted.
Like it's just gotta go thatroute.
(53:42):
So I'm kind of keeping my eyeout for that.
But anyways, that's an in forme.
Mm-Hmm.
Um.
Continuing a gua sha routine.
Oh, what's this?
You know what gua sha is?
No.
You've seen those like, they'relike the jade stones that like,
My sister was telling me aboutthis.
Massage your face and do likelymphatic drainage.
So I have two stones at home.
(54:04):
I do them randomly, but I wantto do it consistently.
So that's like an in for me thisyear is like continuing gua sha.
It like helps like, you know, keep your jawline.
I don't know.
Teach me how.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I would love to, I would love todo that.
Yeah.
So I like, I, I've only reallydone it in the mornings and I
think that's the correct type todo it.
Hmm.
But Gua is like really cool andit's so satisfying to like watch
(54:28):
these.
Chicks and maybe men are doingit too, but it's so satisfying
to watch these people go throughtheir gua sha routine I'm
obsessed with like watching themlike Do it cuz then I'm like,
oh, that's so like satisfyingand like looks relaxing and like
yeah, beautiful.
That's awesome I
Jordan (54:44):
want to continue that.
Yeah, send me something.
Yeah next time you come acrossone send it to me And then also
how do you how are you spellingthat?
Do you know?
G
Lindsay (54:52):
U A space S H A.
Okay,
Jordan (54:56):
so it's what it sounds
like but two words.
Okay, cool.
Lindsay (54:59):
Yeah, cool.
Um, prioritizing rest.
Holla!
Jordan (55:05):
Yeah,
Lindsay (55:06):
that needs to be on the
mind.
Let's bring that to like a,let's put the word prioritize in
front of it.
Not just rest, but likeprioritize it.
Yeah.
Um, and then another one isoutside time.
I thrive with fresh air.
Yes.
Thrive, thrive, thrive.
So, that's an in for me thisyear.
Trusting myself is an in for methis year.
Jordan (55:28):
This season.
Yeah,
Lindsay (55:30):
this season.
We'll see if it continues.
Jordan (55:34):
It sure will.
That one needs to continue.
Lindsay (55:36):
Yeah, yeah, so trusting
myself.
Um, another, one more in for meis talking about feelings.
I have opened up a lot morebecoming a mom.
My feelings and what I'm goingthrough and my feelings are
important too and Yadda, yadda, yadda, yadda, yadda.
So that's a big like in for me.
Jordan (55:55):
I'm like taking a big
sigh right now because you write
Yeah, I've always been goodabout like boundaries and
feelings like that But I'm notalways good about like talking
about the the harder feelings totalk about and I do think that
that's super important So I'mgonna steal that one as an in.
Another in for me that Iliterally have been writing down
in my little bullet journal isOutside time too.
(56:16):
I'm trying to get for myself andfor my kid.
You brought it up the other day.
Yeah.
So a minimum of an hour, butideally two hours every day
outside.
Right now I'm only doing an hourbecause it's very much winter
vibes here.
Um, we're getting lots of stormsright now.
It's just really hard to beoutside with a one year old who
is very mobile but doesn'tunderstand walking on ice and
(56:36):
snow.
Yeah.
And you can't do a two hour longwalk in a stroller.
And then hikes are like, reallycold.
So we're gonna try and go downto the desert and get some, some
warm outdoor time in.
But yeah, we're still doing anhour outside, which is really,
really nice.
That's definitely an in for me.
Oh, you know what else isn't infor me?
Is Focusing nurturing and Justgenerally having an abundance
(57:02):
mindset.
Yeah.
Abundance mindset is in for meright now.
That's good.
Yeah.
That one's hard.
I am like fully, I'm not alwaysa scarcity mindset person, but
like deep down when it comes toit.
I can be.
My retreat is a scarcitymindset.
So yeah, an in for me this yearwould be trying to nurture that
abundance mindset.
Oh, I love hearing that.
(57:23):
So yeah, that's a good one.
Lindsay (57:25):
Do you have any more
ins?
More tea?
I don't know.
More tea.
Jordan (57:30):
Less caramels?
I don't
Lindsay (57:32):
know.
Jordan (57:35):
At least they're
fantastic.
No, they're great.
No, no, no, I know.
They're so good.
I honestly, I need to be eatingless vanilla tootsie rolls.
If anything needs to be an out,it's probably Those.
Lindsay (57:45):
It's probably those.
Shit.
One of my outs is fast fashion.
Jordan (57:52):
I love this one.
I love it.
Over it.
Super with you.
Yeah.
1000 percent with you on thatone.
I haven't bought a new piece ofclothes in so long.
I'm doing great.
Yeah.
And like fast
Lindsay (58:03):
fashion trends.
Like the, yeah, they're cool andeverything, but like I need
something timeless.
I'm at that age where I'm like, timeless is key and like the
thrifting thing kind of goesalong with that too.
So fast fashion's out for me forsure, um, this year.
And then washing my face a.
m.
and p.
m.
Really?
(58:23):
Like not both.
Pick one.
Can
Jordan (58:24):
I add something to you?
Oh, you mean just do one?
Yeah.
Instead of both.
You wash your face both rightnow.
I was.
Lindsay (58:30):
I was.
Okay.
Okay.
And then.
Just recently like aroundChristmas time.
I was like, I'm only here in 2p.
m.
Screw
Jordan (58:40):
it.
Interesting.
And better?
Lindsay (58:42):
Doing better.
It's kind of in that transitionphase where it's like getting
used to it, but I only wash itat night now.
Jordan (58:51):
Can I tell you a secret?
Yeah.
I don't wash my face.
Lindsay (58:56):
When you, what do you
do when you put makeup on?
I don't.
Jordan (59:00):
You don't put, I
literally have never worn
foundation.
Oh my god, you lucky SOB.
Okay, well that makes me feel alittle bit better that I'm like
doing something okay.
Like, I guess like, it makessense.
So I wasn't thinking in my headlike you'd be washing makeup
off.
Yeah, like, it's too
Lindsay (59:14):
much.
Like, all this, like all thesesteps.
Dude, it's so much.
I mean it's so overwhelming andlike all these steps and it's
like really get down to thebasics and that's all you need
to do is just like a nicecleanser and good moisturizer.
Maybe a good serum here andthere.
SPF, call
Jordan (59:29):
it.
That's a lot of things you justsaid.
Yeah.
My brain just went like, whoawhoa whoa whoa whoa.
I feel like you were likethrowing balls at my head.
I just think that like, that'snarrowing it
Lindsay (59:38):
down for me.
Jordan (59:39):
I, I got really into the
idea of skincare a while back
when I had like, you know, alittle bit of extra money to
spend.
Skincare stuff is expensive.
So yeah, I used to wash my facea fair bit.
But I kind of just stopped andit really doesn't feel like it
needs To be washed.
Every once in a while it does, and I have face washed, and I
will wash it, and it feelsgreat.
(01:00:00):
I do use moisturizer on my face.
It's like the one thing I douse.
Um, yeah, I just rinsed my facewith water.
That's it.
I love that.
Which for you?
Well, I don't know if it is goodfor me.
I don't know.
I think it is.
Like it's probably good to notwear a bunch of makeup.
Yeah.
But if I'm wearing makeup,
Lindsay (01:00:19):
that shit's gotta come
off your face.
I like, yeah.
So upset with myself.
Jordan (01:00:23):
I wear mascara.
That's the only makeup I wearand I definitely always take my
mascara off at the end of theday.
Alright, well, yeah.
Lindsay (01:00:29):
Those are fun trending
things.
It's like a new trending
Jordan (01:00:31):
thing.
I like that.
I'm gonna make a little ins andouts list.
Yeah.
Lindsay (01:00:34):
And then I'll come back
in the spring.
Jordan (01:00:37):
Yeah, we can check in,
we can do little ins and outs,
check in in the spring.
Yeah, there we go.
I love that idea.
Yeah, we'll do that in the firstday of spring.
Stay tuned.
Yes Cool.
Well, we do we have I guess wecan wrap this up.
We've gone on for ages, but Haveyou got a recommendation you
want to throw at us?
Lindsay (01:00:54):
I Could not get through
all my travel anxiety anxieties
without therapy I'm recommendingyou are an anxious person and
like a parent traveling If youcould just get on a couple
sessions and talk about it witha therapist, it's phenomenal.
Like, don't get me wrong, familyand friends are there to, like,
(01:01:17):
reach out to and be, people thatare, like,, consoling and,
comforting and, like, yeah, wedid it too, but, like, having
the tools from a therapist isincredible.
Yeah, my therapist helped me alot, I love that, yeah, like I
said, I have all the, I have thesystem down, I have kind of it
figured out in my head, butevery time I travel, I'm nervous
(01:01:39):
wreck, yeah, I don't know, it'sjust anxiety happens yeah, so
having those tools in my pocket, utilizing them.
is helpful from my therapist.
Jordan (01:01:49):
Good.
I love that.
I should have let you go lastcause that was like a really
nice little heartfelt one ofmine.
It was just basic as.
Lindsay (01:01:55):
Um,
Jordan (01:01:59):
I also recommend therapy
just, uh, for anyone who, yeah,
I also recommend therapy, but,my recommendation this week is,
the, so it's the travel strollerthat we have.
It's the brand is called Zoe andthe specific one we have is
called the traveler.
Yeah.
It is super, it's so great.
Me and Lindsay both have kind ofbougie strollers.
(01:02:20):
It was like one of my husband's,like.
Gear guy.
So it was like one of the thingsI knew we were going to need to
invest in a good quality onefor.
The Zoe Travelute is stillpricey, but it is a fraction of
the price of the other strollerthat I have.
And I will say that if I had togo back in time and just choose
one stroller, I would pick theZoe over the one, the other one
(01:02:42):
that we have.
I for sure would.
Because it's more versatile.
I've seen you use that one
Lindsay (01:02:46):
with one hand, right?
It's so nice
Jordan (01:02:47):
to, yeah, you just pull
it out of your car with one
hand, you deploy it, and it'sawesome and it has like, it has
less space in the bottom forstorage but the little space
behind your kid's head is likethis fabric that is like
continuous with the hood of thestroller and you can put so much
stuff in that little pocket andthen there's like a cup holder
that comes with it It'shonestly, it's sick.
(01:03:09):
It's really good and it feelsnice quality.
It's made out of like non toxicmaterials.
All good things.
Yeah.
It hits all your check marks.
Yeah.
So, I fully recommend that one.
Cool.
Yeah.
Anyway, that's it.
So, yeah.
Let's go travel.
Let's go somewhere.
Lindsay (01:03:25):
Let's work on our ins
and
Jordan (01:03:26):
outs.
Yeah, let's work on those.
I like that.
In, out for me is traveling.
No, I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
Out for me for this year forsure is like going in a plane.
We are going to be home for ahot minute.
Chilling.
Well, not home.
I say home.
We're going to go on more vantrips.
Yeah.
Just local little Utah trips.
Lindsay (01:03:45):
I think we have Back to
the Midwest.
Usually we go back for 4th ofJuly.
And we're going back to Sitka,Alaska in August.
Maybe I will go, I don't knowyet.
Jordan (01:03:57):
TBD.
TBD for me.
TTC.
TBD.
Yeah.
Lindsay (01:04:03):
If
Jordan (01:04:05):
you know, you know.
Lindsay (01:04:08):
What others are there?
I want to keep this going.
Oh god.
I
Jordan (01:04:13):
mean, I used to get one
of my best friends in uni shit
and say L Y L A S.
Do you know that one?
She hated it.
