Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello and welcome to the we Recommend podcast, a
movie podcast where we usuallyrecommend a movie for you to
watch and then come back hereand listen to me and Jason
discuss.
But today you will be listeningto me discuss my top six desert
island movie franchises moviefranchises.

(00:35):
So Jason has gotten sick, hiskids have been sick for like a
week and then he got sick.
He's been sick for a few daysso we haven't been able to get a
movie out yet.
We still plan on doing Men inBlack.
So, don't worry, we willeventually do that, but we're
going to have to take anotherweek before we can do it because
he keeps getting sick and hiswhole household's getting sick.
He has a bunch of kids, so youknow they're constantly getting
sick and they get him sick.
He had to leave work a fewtimes and because that we have

(00:58):
both have full time jobs, it'sreally tough for us to, you know
, just stop everything and do anepisode, especially when you
know we had bad weather inTennessee and now he's getting
sick and God, I hope I don't getsick.
So I decided what if I didsomething different?
You know, I want to stayconsistent on this podcast.

(01:18):
I want to try to get somethingout every single you know day
that we're supposed to.
So I decided that I'm going topick my top six Desert Island
franchises.
So I've been thinking allmorning on what movies I should
pick, because there's a wholebunch of franchises.
I mean everything from.
You have a bunch of superheroones, you have a bunch of horror

(01:39):
movie ones like Halloween, nightmare on Elm Street, scream,
evil Dead, then you have, likethe DC Extended Universe, the
MCU, you have the X-Men series, you got the Lord of the Rings
series, the Hobbit series, theTeenage, mutant, ninja, turtle
series, godzilla, all the Pixarstuff, hangover, lethal Weapon,

(02:00):
planet of the Apes, star Trek, rambo, karate Kid.
There's just so many.
So I decided wouldn't it be funif I picked my top six?
I know six.
Why six?
Because I wasn't satisfied withfive.
So what I'm going to do is,every before every time I pick a

(02:20):
franchise, I'm going to give anhonorable mentions to another
franchise that I would love toput on the list.
But I just, you know, I wantthis list to say true to who.
I am no outside, you know, interference here Not thinking
about like what somebody wouldthink if I pick this movie or
anything Franchise I mean.
So let's get started.
I'm going to do my firsthonorable mention Now.

(02:43):
I will say in the sixth spot Idid pick a horror franchise and
there are a lot of really goodhorror franchises.
Well, not really.
There's a lot of horrorfranchises that have a lot of
movies in them.
Not a lot of them are thatgreat.
I'm looking at you Halloweenseries.
I mean seriously, there's maybelike three or four good movies

(03:05):
in that entire franchise.
Friday the 13th get out of here.
Nightmare on Elm Street, lovethe movies, but you know,
they're just not ones that I canjust go back and rewatch and
rewatch the thing.
I wish I cared about two of thethree thing movies, but they're
just, I just don't, you know.

(03:28):
So it's tough.
So what it came down to was I'mon a deserted island, desert
island, they're deserted island,desserts island, I don't know,
um.
But so I picked, I came down totwo and I decided on scream
versus evil dead franchise andthey're kind of.
They all have bangers and theyall are so enjoyable.

(03:50):
Now, critically, I think theEvil Dead franchise is probably,
like you know, better reviewedon the outside.
But then I thought, huh, Iwatch the Scream movies more
than anything.
But what it came down to was allright, I'm alone on an island
by myself and I can watch movies.
Would I pick Evil Dead orScream?

(04:12):
I was thinking I'm alone,because that's what this is,
it's just me, nobody else.
I'm just here watching movieson an island.
Then I thought, well, obviouslyI'm gonna want something that
brings me joy, which bothfranchises do.
But then I thought, well, obviously I'm going to want
something that brings me joy, which both franchises do.
But then I was thinking, ohwell, I probably want to watch
something that makes me think ofsomething that I love.

(04:34):
And since the Scream franchiseis my wife's favorite movies,
obviously I'd want to pick thatone, just because you know, it
just remind me of all the goodtimes me and her spent watching
these movies.
And plus they're bangers, andMatthew Lillard is a god in that
first one.
So obviously I have to pick thescreen franchise, though let's

(04:55):
be real, bruce Campbell great inthe Evil Dead franchise.
He's so good, probably, andit's tough because there's just
so much iconic stuff in both ofthem.
But I think that the Screamfranchise for me is probably
more rewatchable, and you knowthey're like very witty and

(05:16):
funny, very funny.
So is Evil Dead.
But you know they're all funnyin the Scream franchise and you
know I'm gonna be on a desertisland.
I want to think about my wife, you know, call me, call me a
roman romantic, am I right?
But anyways, yes.
So number six is the screamfranchise.
Yeah, and I guess, if Iobviously scream one's my

(05:38):
favorite, and if I was gonnarank them, which I just decided
to do, which makes this veryscary to do uh, scream number
one with a bullet.
And I'm not gonna lie, I lovescream 4.
It's great the ending with uh,what's her face?
Emma roberts, yeah, emmaroberts, great, uh, but it's

(05:59):
also.
It's got, it's got all I'mreturning.
David arquette, nev campbell, courtney cox uh, it's the first
one with Hayden Penetary I hopeI said that right.
And plus, we got a Colkin in it.
Baby Alison Brie, communityfame, let's go.
And then so Scream, scream 4.
Man, it's definitely eithergoing to be Scream 2 or Scream 3

(06:19):
.
I'm going to go Scream 3.
Scream 2, just because my boy, jamie Kennedy, isn't still in
that one.
He's in it a lot, and so thenI'll probably go Scream 3.
And then the remake, scream, andthen probably Scream 6.
And then we'll see what, youknow, kevin Williamson can do
with Scream 7, which is just, you know, everything that's

(06:43):
going on with that movie is wild, but you know it is what it is.
We'll see what happens, butyeah, so my first desert island
pick would be the Screamfranchise.
Plus, I have to have a horrormovie franchise because that's
my favorite genre, of course.
Now, if we had to pick you canonly take one movie it'd be the
thing, but especially if, like,I'm on like hot island, the

(07:03):
thing, that'd be great.
So we're gonna do our firsthonorable mention, which
obviously the one in that onewould have been the one for the
horror, would have been evil,dead.
So, and for the next honorablemention that we're gonna do,
this is gonna ruffle somefeathers, okay, but if I was
thinking to myself, I'm on adeserted island, I am going to

(07:32):
pick movies that I love, that Ilove almost all of them, and
it's not going to annoy mewatching this movie and thinking
about, oh yeah, whenever Iwasn't on this island there was
all this crap, you know.
So I'm actually one of myhonorable mentions is going to
be the Star Wars franchisebecause, you know, really
there's only like four, maybefive, good movies in those nine

(07:53):
movies and, honestly, some ofthe ones that are considered
good.
There's, I got Force Awakens.
You know, it's just like if I'mgoing to be on a desert island,
it's like, do I really want towatch the third movie, that one
movie, over and over and overagain?
Because there's like that Imean we already have Star Wars
and then they just keep redoingthings and redoing things like,

(08:14):
ok, I get it.
It's.
You know, there's themes andstuff, cool, I don't know.
I just when I think about it, Iwould hate to not have Empire
Strikes Back in my life, but youknow, I think I'm just going to
have to take a pass on StarWars and just go around.
Plus, because there's some realbangers coming up.
And if I had to pick a sci-fifranchise, you'll hear what it's

(08:37):
going to be soon.
So for my number five franchise,it's this is a franchise that I
loved growing up as a kid andyou know there's one bad movie
out of all nine of them, justone, only one.
So I've decided to pick theRocky franchise.
You know, there's somethingabout on AMC.

(09:00):
They used to, as when I was akid, all the time run just
marathons of them.
I can't remember around whatholiday it was.
But I would just sit there andwatch them like all day and I'd
get so pumped I was thinking Icould be like a boxer, I'd go
out and get fight night so Icould play that game.
Because I came, ruled and wheredid those games go?
But there's just somethingabout them, you know, I love

(09:21):
like the raw indie feel of rockyone.
So good, it's just.
You know you got like the weirdromance but it just feels like
this could have been somebody'slike dang, this is their life,
where, versus as they, you know, kind of progress more, kind of
gets a little more bombastic.
But yeah, uh, love the firstrocky.

(09:44):
Rocky 2 is great.
Just essentially it's like aclassic sequel.
But you know it stays in therocky universe which is, you
know, just very down to earth.
And then we start going withrocky 3.
You know it gets a littlesillier.
You got hulk hogan, mr t, butstill it's great.
People are getting hit anddying.
Um, rocky four it's juststraight schlock, schlock.

(10:07):
Yeah, um, people really lovethis one.
Um, I loved it as a kid.
The more I rewatch it, the moreit's just kind of like okay,
what is this?
Right, but it's still great.
Rocky five, I throw it into thewater.
Um, rocky balboa, baby, come on, come on.
So unrealistic, so wild, socrazy.
And we just literally tried todo this in real life with Mike

(10:31):
Tyson and whatever Paul.
But I love it.
It's got that classic, classicspeech that he gives to the guy
that was in Heroes.
You know the quote where hesays but it ain't about how hard
you hit, it's about how hardyou can get hit and keep moving
forward.
I mean, come the fuck on, youknow he looks wild in that movie

(10:54):
, but you know, it's just fun,it's just fun.
And if I'm on a deserted island, desert island, deserted island
, how do you even say it?
I don't know.
Um, I definitely want that.
And then, of course, you havecreed.
You know you have.
Honestly, you have twomasterpieces.
You have rocky and you havecreed.
They're both great.
Uh, I mean, I never expected arocky movie to make me cry.

(11:17):
And then creed happened.
Right, michael b jordan's greatin it.
Ryan coogler, he's just one ofour best directors that we have
right now.
And just whenever you think ofthe classic Rocky running
through the streets ofPhiladelphia, then you have the
Michael B Jordan Creed one doingit and you got like the four
wheelers in the background.
It's so rad.
I love it.
Creed 2, I enjoyed, don'tremember as much.

(11:40):
I still haven't watched Creed 3.
I need to buy it so I can justwatch it, but you know, I'm sure
it's good.
Right, it's actually directedby Michael B Jordan, which makes
me super interested in it.
Um, but yeah, whenever Ithought about it, I was just
like I love the Rocky movies.
I've always loved the Rockymovies, uh, and they're just
undeniably great in my opinion.
Um, and honestly, I wouldprobably rather watch the Rocky

(12:06):
films over the Star Wars films.
Don't get me wrong.
I do like the Star Warsfranchise.
I don't want this to be, oh, hedoesn't like it.
No, I enjoy them.
I'm just thinking.
I'm just being me.
This is what I'd rather do.
I feel like I get kind of in abubble where everybody just
wants to talk about, you know, the pop culture, nerdy stuff,

(12:30):
and so then it ends up beinglike a movie that I end up
talking about a lot and thinkingabout a lot, but I mean, truly
deep to my core, this is thetype of shit I like.
I mean, I love just thegrittiness and, you know, the
just feel of these Rocky movies,I don't know, and they just
kind of, you know, evolved overtime and then de-evololved with
Rocky V and then, you know, tried to do their cash grab with

(12:52):
Rocky Balboa and then did likea more I don't want to say like
prestigious one, but I thinkthey just, I don't know they got
to the heart and Creed, theygot into the heart of what the
Rocky series means.
So that is my fifth one, theRocky franchise.
So that is my fifth one, theRocky franchise.
And so for the next honorablemention, I will say this was a

(13:13):
tough one, right, because I dolove these, this franchise, but
I don't know, it's like, as muchas I love them and I quote them
, I just decided, like if I wason an island I would, I just
wouldn't pick them, right, it'slike, even though they're funny
and all right, I should probablyjust tell you right, I decided
for honorable and the nexthonorable mention to be Fast and

(13:35):
the Furious franchise.
I love these movies and, honestly, if you asked me, five
years ago I was picking thesemovies.
But also, when I was asked thatI didn't have, you know, a lot
of time to think about it, butthis time I did have a lot of
time to think about it.
But this time I did have a lotof time to think about it and
you know there are some bad onesin it.
There's some ones that wheneverI look back, I'm like I don't

(13:57):
know which movie this is.
I think it's like Fast and theFurious 4.
I'm just like I don't.
I think it's Fast and Furiousand or Fast and Furious dude,
who the fuck knows with thesetitles, right, fast and Furious,
yeah so, and that was thesecond one, just directed by
Justin Lin, who I like as adirector, um, but you know, it's

(14:18):
just not memorable at all.
Just, I get, whenever I'mtrying to think about it, I
think this is the one where, yeah, it's the one where it's
like it has one of the maincharacters come back.
So it's just I don't know what.
Just whenever I think about it,I'm like, eh, wet fart.
Um, fast five, masterpiece.
Fast and furious six.
You see, that's another onewhere I'm just like I don't
remember that one.

(14:38):
Then you have furious seven.
It's great because in a streetwar, uh, the street always wins.
Um, the fate of the Furious has, when the cars go, zombie mode
that rules.
But I don't know I don't.
I just the movie doesn't workfor me, the villain doesn't work
for me.

(14:58):
F9, great, but you know itdidn't give me what I wanted.
And Fast X I heard it was sobad I just can't watch it.
Like it upset people that lovethe franchise.
I'm going to watch it.
I actually may watch it todayand I might like it and regret
picking this the whole time.
But yeah, when I just thoughtabout it, it's like these are

(15:19):
really fun movies and I love thequotes.
You know I live my life aquarter mile at a time, but yeah
, I just couldn't do it.
So for the next franchise Idecided to pick I wanted a
comedy franchise and, like I'mnot going to lie, these are
three movies that I watch everysingle year and usually at the
beginning of the year.

(15:39):
So it's about to happen now,and that would be the Austin
Powers franchise.
Yes, they're so good, they'reso funny.
All of them.
They're all three great.
I don't care, I mean, if I hadto rank them, it's spire,
shagamy, international, man ofmystery and then gold member,
but they all have something funin it.

(16:00):
Gold members great.
Eats his skin.
Uh, smoking a pancake, a bongand a blunt, a bong and a blint,
I don't know Whatever, but sogreat and Awesome.
Powers of Spy who Shagged Me,it's just, you know, that's the
one I watched the most as a kidand it's the one that just kind
of stuck with me the most, eventhough there are all the good

(16:20):
bits in the International man ofMystery, especially whenever he
has like a penis pump and it'sjust like penis pump and it's
just like.
It's like that's not mine.
I wouldn't do it, baby.
Then he brings out a book onhow to use it and this is my bag
, baby.
So good, but yeah, uh, some funfacts.
Actually didn't know this, but Iwas reading up on it, and myers
himself has stated ininterviews that the idea of

(16:41):
austin powers came to him onenight while driving home for ice
hockey practice, hearing thesong the look of love by burt
baccarat know because it's inthe first movie on his car radio
he wondered where have all theswingers gone?
And conceived the character whowould become Austin Powers.
And then later, in anotherinterview in 2018, myers stated
after my dad died in 1991, I wastaking stock of his influence

(17:05):
on me as a person and hisinfluence on me with comedy in
general.
So Austin Powers was a tributeto my father who introduced,
introduced me to James Bond, peter Sellers, the Beatles, the
goodies, peter Cook and DudleyMoore, which is awesome.
That's great.
It's fun that it came from, youknow, a place of love which I
think whenever you watch it,it's you know, you can kind of

(17:28):
feel it that he really lovesthis universe and the characters
, which is, you know, somethingthat I feel like is gonna.
You know, I will say like, Ifeel like it's something that
kind of rings throughout allthese franchises that I pick,
like how much love has gone intothem.
And you know, like, with Screamand scream and rocky, like

(17:51):
there's not really a lot of cashgrabs in them, right, except
for, you know, maybe rockybalboa, but there's still so
much love in that movie becausesylvester stallone loves that
character.
And like, through the screamfranchises, like you know, the
first four was made by WesCraven, who obviously loves
these movies because he keptmaking them.
And then, when the next onesgot made Scream 6 or 5 and 4 or

(18:14):
6.
God, like it was made by twodirectors that loved it, the
radio silence directors Matt andTyler.
But yeah, and that's, I think, like resonates throughout the
Austin Powers series and likethey're so, they're just so
funny.
They're just so funny, yeah.
But so now we are going to hitour next honorable mention.

(18:37):
Oh man, this one's tough.
You know, if I'm just being, ifI'm just going to be true to me
, I love this series, I love itto death, watch it every year.
But you know, if I had, if I,just if I truly thought about it
, the movies that I'd ratherhave would just be a little

(19:00):
different.
So I'm going to put my nexthonorable mention is going to be
the Harry Potter franchise.
I know my wife is going todivorce me.
This is going to be hard.
Like I love the franchise, butyou know it's just.
I guess, whenever I think ofmyself on a desert island, like
I just don't think that I wantto watch Harry Potter and like,

(19:23):
even with the next franchisethat I'm going to pick, it's
probably not something that Italk a lot about, but like I
grew up loving, like probablymore than Harry Potter, and then
, when the newer movies came out, like they're so, like, good,
like prestige wise, which issomething that you know, I just
want really good movies when I'mthere, but I also want, like

(19:46):
you know, fun movies which thisnext franchise I'm going to pick
has and I loved.
I do love the Harry Potter andthey all do the same thing.
But, like as this the nextfranchise I'm picking, but I
don't know.
There's just something I wasthinking about.
I was just like, when I waslooking out the movies, I was
like I think I'd rather take adifferent franchise over Harry

(20:08):
Potter.
Um, even though it'd probablymake more sense for me to take
Harry Potter rather than screamUh, especially if it's something
like I'm alone on a desert andI just are on an island and I
just want to think about, youknow, like something that makes
me think about my wife and stuff, you know.
Um, but you know I love horrormovies the most, so I just gotta
go with that one.

(20:29):
But yeah, I do love the HarryPotter movies.
It's just, I don't know, Iguess, whenever I just think
about being on a island alone,it's like I don't really want to
take children's movies, I guess, I don't know.
But anyway, so for my nextfranchise, this is one I grew up
loving.
I think I own all of them, except for the latest one that

(20:53):
came out and I picked Planet ofthe Apes.
Planet of the Apes, the veryoriginal one.
I watched it as a kid a lot andyou know it's iconic, but it
was for the long.
I mean it's still I don't knowif it's still considered my
favorite sci-fi movie, but, like, for the longest time of my
life it was considered myfavorite sci-fi movie.

(21:15):
But yeah, like, I've watchedall of them, the original, of
course, just a classic.
But yeah, it's just a classic.
You know it stars CharlestonHeston.
It's like get your paws off me,you damn dirty ape.
Oh, it's like, uh, get yourpaws off me, you damn dirty ape.
Oh, it's so good.
And the ending, god, it was sogreat and such a fun little

(21:35):
twist.
You know, I think what it isabout the Planet of the Apes
movies is just, you know, itgives you that like the original
series.
Of course it's gonna give methat like, oh, that childhood
wonder of, oh, I rememberwatching these as a kid.
I'm stuck on this island.
It's going to make me thinkabout nice things, right.
And plus, they're so like, like, after the first one they get

(21:57):
so batshit crazy.
Like beneath the Planet of theApes, where they have like a
cult underneath that worships anuclear bomb.
Is so rad.
Escape from the Planet of theApes.
Oh, that's wherever they go,like I guess, like what, back
into the past, and it's greatbecause it's like you just have
these talking chimpanzees likein you know, like 1973, and it's

(22:20):
just like everybody's like whatthe hell?
And I don't know.
It's just, they're just so fun.
That's the one with Zira and DrMilo.
It's, it's a great one, um.
And I will say that Conquest ofthe Planet of the Apes and
Battle for the Planet of theApes, I don't remember as much
because I watched the firstthree more than the those four,

(22:40):
those six, five, um.
And then you got the uh crazyPlanet of the Aes or tim burton.
That's uh not great, but it'sstill fun.
It's ridiculous.
It'll make you laugh and justdude paul giamatti's facial
expressions in the tim burtonone is so good, he goes so ham

(23:03):
with it, and I don't know, Ilove that, I just I like it's
great, um.
And then you have the rebootseries, rise of the Planet of
the Apes Very solid.
I remember going to the theaterand watching it and just being
like hell, yeah, let's go.
This is great.
And then when we get to Dawn ofthe Planet of the Apes,
probably the best in the entirefranchise.

(23:25):
Just in general, it's just amasterpiece Directed by by matt
reeves, who now does the batman.
But watching dawn of the planetof the apes, just like the
opening shot ending, likebeginning on uh, beginning on
caesar's face and then ending oncaesar's face, and you just

(23:46):
have the.
You know, like jason Clarke'sgreat performance, gary Oldman's
great performance, keriRussell's great performance, I
mean it's just, it's bangers allthe way through the entire
movie.
I love it so much.
And even like giving GaryOldman like the little shot
where, like he's able to boot uphis like iPad, I think for a
second to see his family andjust cry.

(24:07):
And it's just like, fuck thismovie's good.
War of the Planet of the Apes.
I have only seen it once, butwhen I watched it I was like
hell, yeah, this, I mean as itgoes, I was just crying about a
monkey for like 10 minutesafterwards it was great.
Yeah, that's one I'm going tohave to rewatch again, can't
wait.
And I haven't seen Kingdom ofthe Planet of the Apes, which I

(24:29):
know is probably.
Oh, you're going to pick afranchise that you're going to
take to Desert Island and youhaven't even seen all of it.
But I hear it's good, right, these are very thoughtful
blockbusters and that's what Ilike about them.
It's like you get theblockbuster but they're also
thoughtful.
So now I am going to do my nexthonorable mention, and my next

(24:53):
honorable mention is going to bethe Lord of the Rings franchise
.
You know, they're just themovies that I love and I do
think about, but you know, they're just not ones that I
jump to watch all the time.
It would be great for contentbecause you know, know, if you
have the hobbit series with them, which I I don't even know if
I'd want to watch them.
If I was on an island, I'd putthem into the ocean.

(25:14):
Um, not really, I mean I'dwatch them.
I mean, this is like 12 hourswith three movies, but with 12
hours and if you had the hobbitmovies it'd be 24 hours it'd
take an entire day to watch them.
Um, I do love the series.
It's just it would remind me of, like, uh, the time where me
and my friend richard and cody,we just spent like an entire

(25:34):
night trying to watch these, like the extended cuts, in just
one night.
It was rough, I was very tiredbecause I was up all day as well
, um, but yeah, you know, it's abeautiful movie it'd be great
to see because just based onlike visuals alone.
But if I had to think about it,you know like there's just more

(25:54):
franchises that I prefer towatch over it.
And which leads me to my nextfranchise, the Mission
Impossible series.
Let's go baby, a franchise withthat will end up having a total
of nine, but right now only haseight.
This was another series Iwatched as a kid.
I loved the first MissionImpossible as a kid, the 1996

(26:16):
one.
It's just, I watched it so muchgrowing up.
Tom Cruise was my favoriteactor.
You know, before I knew that hewas a sane psycho person.
Potentially I even love MissionImpossible 2, even though
that's obviously the worst one,but it's got that John Woo
action that I loved.
And then Mission Impossible 3,I remember when that came out I

(26:38):
was so excited for it.
And then it came out and I waslike wow, this is actually
really good and so much betterin Mission Impossible 2.
And you have Philip SeymourHoffman who gives maybe the best
performance in the entirefranchise.
The scene with between him andTom Cruise on the plane is so
good.

(26:59):
Yeah, it's just, you know, banger Ghost Protocol.
When that came out, Iconsidered that one my favorite
one.
It's wild because as thesemovies keep coming out, you
could almost be like, oh no,that's my favorite one, no,
that's my favorite one, no,that's my favorite one.
Ghost Protocol, directed byBrad Bird, who did the
Incredibles, which is very fun.
Then you have Rogue Nation.

(27:20):
You know, out of all of them, rogue Nation is the one I
remember the least, but Iremember it being amazing, so I
need to rewatch that one.
That's the one that introducesRebecca Ferguson.
Yeah, it's cool.
And then Mission ImpossibleFallout.
It's probably you know itprobably really is the best one.

(27:40):
You have Henry Cavill caulkinghis arms like they're guns and I
remember reading that thatfight scene in the bathroom took
four weeks to shoot, and youcan tell because it's rad as
hell.
Um.
And then you have missionimpossible dead reckoning, where
tom cruise takes on the villainai, which is wild.

(28:02):
It's a wild idea, but the movieis so good, it's very.
This one just became videogaming type movie, but it's
great.
And the only issue I have withthis franchise is the fact that
Mission Impossible DeadReckoning part two is not called
that, it's called the finalreckoning.
So don't how about this Justname Mission Impossible, dead

(28:24):
Reckoning part one, just DeadReckoning, and then you can name
the next one Final ReckoningPart 1, just Dead Reckoning, and
then you can name the next oneFinal Reckoning.
Sorry, that's like a dumb thing, but that annoys me.
Yeah, perfect action franchise,I mean, except for Mission
Impossible 2.
But I don't know.
I mean, if you meet someonethat doesn't like the Mission

(28:45):
Impossible movies, just get themout of your life.
Just kidding.
Mission Impossible 1, it'sactually also of your life, just
kidding.
Mission Impossible 1, it'sactually also co-written with
David Koepp, who works alongsideSteven Spielberg a lot.
He did Death Becomes Her,jurassic Park, carlitos Way, the
Lost World, snake Eyes I didn'tknow.
He wrote that.

(29:05):
That's awesome.
Panic Room 2002, spider,spider-man, war of the worlds,
ghost town hell yeah, premiumrush that's a fun movie, um, but
anyways, yeah.
So david kepp he, you know, works alongside steven spielberg
a lot um, it's a very famouswriter and he wrote the first

(29:26):
mission impossible, which, whichis cool.
I'll do my final honorablemention stuff because you know,
this next one it's a big one.
I mean starting in 2008 andstill going, and you know
there's a lot of movies I love,but like it'd be a lot of
content on an Island by myself.
But I guess if I took, if Itook this, it's tough cause I

(29:50):
don't really want to get rid ofthese.
Um, but if I just had to pickwhat I'd want to take with me, I
wouldn't take the MarvelCinematic Universe.
It'd be tough, like if I hadall these movies on just laying
out on a table and I'm like Igotta grab it before I go, like
I'd want to.
But honestly it's tough becauseI really love the Guardians of
the Galaxy series.
They're so good.
But I'd leave it at home.

(30:13):
I would, it'd hurt my heart.
But you know I got a lot of goodfranchises and I think I would
just have to leave the MarvelCinematic Universe out of it.
Oh, that doesn't feel right atall.
You know what Fuck it we ball?
Yeah, I'm taking the marvelcinematic universe mainly just

(30:34):
because the guardians of thegalaxy series they're so perfect
.
So this is actually gonna beseven franchises I take and you
know I can honestly leave therest.
I would just take the trilogyof the guardians of the galaxy.
How about that?
Just because I don't want tocheat too much.
But I am taking the guardiansof galaxy series because, uh,
they're so much fun.
James gunn is a great director, all the actors go hard in that
movie.
It's funny, it's got greataction, great sci-fi and, you

(30:55):
know, like Rocket and Groot andDrax, star-lord Gamora, come on.
And plus, it would be a shameif I didn't have Kurt Russell
somewhere on that island.
Gotta have a hunk somewhere,right?
So, yeah, sorry, I'm gonnacheat a little bit.
I'm bringing the Guardians ofthe Galaxy series.

(31:16):
Yeah, that's the only one I'mgonna bring, just a perfect
trilogy.
Love all three of them, theyall.
Just Guardians 2 is my favorite.
That movie just like rips myheart out of my chest because of
how much it makes me cry.
It's great Y'all do.
He might not be my father, buthe's my daddy boy.

(31:38):
So, yeah, I'm cheating.
And then, sorry, I'm going tojust go ahead and go to my last
one and I chose the Mad Max maxfranchise, another series that I
watched as a kid.
Um, and it's got, you know, thunderdome.
Half that movie's great.
The other half is like why, whydid we do this?

(32:00):
I think that's when I was likeI don't know, this is stuff with
the kids.
It's not as good.
But the first mad max is agreat indie, low budget, just
australian action film, revengeflick.
It's great.
It's george miller's first one.
Uh, if you listen to our madmax for your old one, you'll
you'll probably remember that Isaid george miller was actually

(32:22):
a doctor in the er in australiaand that's how he came up with
the idea, because he saw so manycar accidents and came up with
Mad Max, the movie full of caraccidents.
Mad Max 2.
The Road Warrior Was the bestof the series, one of the best
action movies ever made, until, you know, mad Max 3 Road came

(32:45):
out and just became one of thebest movies In the history of
cinema and it still is and itstill goes hard and I love that
series and I just recentlywatched Furiosa Mad Max series
actually and to my surprise,it's really good.
So you know George Miller man,he doesn't miss Love the guy.
Yeah, you know it's probablygoing to be something that might

(33:09):
.
The only downsides to takingthis is that you know it's very
barren landscapes that they'rein.
There's just a bunch of sandand it's just a desert.
So you know that might beannoying a little bit, but I
won't care because I'll just bepumping my fists in the air
because these movies rule and, honestly, you probably have

(33:37):
heard throughout this entirepodcast that I like to use the
word rad a lot and all thesemovies are rad a lot, so that is
why I'm picking them and youknow just, I don't know just the
direction in it and I can't goanywhere.
If I'm going to be stucksomewhere, mad Max Fury Road has
to go with me.
It's, I think, seriously, themore that I watch the franchise

(34:01):
and like movie, even just likewatching Furiosa, it just made
me like think, like man, furyRoad's great Because you, you
know, there's littlesimilarities in Furiosa and it's
just, I wouldn't want to leavethose two movies.
It's like I don't know.
I mean, if it's just, I lovethem, they're so good, but yeah,

(34:21):
so that's it, just a rundown.
I am taking Scream, rocky, austin Powers, planet of the
apes, the mission impossiblefranchise, guardians of the
galaxy series that I added atthe last minute, and then the
mad max franchise.
Baby, um, what are some of thefranchises you would have to
take?
Are you super upset that Ididn't want to take, like star

(34:44):
wars and harry potter?
I'm sorry, um, you know, sometimes I just don't want to
take those.
I just, you know, I don't know,but I want to hear what
franchises you like.
What would you take on ifyou're going to be stuck on an
island for the rest of your life?

(35:26):
You can send it to us that wayas well.
I hope this episode worked.
It's really weird just doing apodcast by yourself, like the
more that you just kind of sithere and talk.
You're like I have no idea whatI'm doing and it feels weird
that I'm just looking at whereJason usually sits and just
talking to that area of the room.

(35:47):
So it's very weird, but I'dlove to hear what you think.
I hope you enjoyed the episode.
I'm sorry that we're not goingto have like an actual
discussion about movies.
A movie I hate that we have todo this, but it's just how it
worked out and I'm very sorryabout it.
I know this is coming out alittle late, just because we're

(36:08):
really hoping that he would feelbetter this Monday morning or
when this is being released, andthat we could, you know, like
get together at eight and Icould have this up by 12, you
know, like PM, but not going towork.
He's got the flu, you know, just keep him in your thoughts
or whatever.
I don't know.
