you are listening to We Saw theDevil. This is Robyn and I am
here to discuss Ruby Frankie in thatentire horrible mess. I'd lightly been following
(01:11):
along with it. If you recalla way back when it was breaking news.
We've gone through the trial, We'vedone all of that stuff, haven't
you know, kind of kept alight pulse on it, and then the
new evidence over the last say,ten to fourteen days or so that was
released after the fact. Just thescope of this just kind of blew my
mind. And so for a lotof you guys not aware or fully up
(01:34):
to date on it, I justwanted to touch on it. I know
a lot of us followed the LoriValo case together. This just has so
many echoes of that case as well. But when I really saw the say,
chesscam footage, the videos, thejournal juries, just my heart is
kind of broken for these kids.So I want to talk about it.
(01:55):
But before we get into that, just quick housekeeping, y'all. The website
is currently down for maintenance, soapologies. A couple people have reached out

As always, if you're loving theshow liking it, please take twenty seconds
out of your day to leave afive star review wherever you listen to podcasts,
it means the world to your creatorsand actually has a heavier hand and
stuff like sponsorships and you know allthat kind of stuff as well. So
if you want to support some ofyour favorite podcasts financially but you can't,
(02:46):
leaving a five star review goes along way. Other than that, y'all.
I don't have much to talk aboutin terms of news or you know,
anything like that. I guess theonly thing is I did start to
watch I haven't finished it quiet onset yet, which I can certainly kind
of understand how people find it socontroversial, But I just, I hate
(03:07):
to say it, but I kindof just automatically assume and have for a
very long time. So I seepeople posting about, oh my god,
I can't watch it. I can'tlet it destroy my childhood, but I
just kind of assume most of thetime that that stuff is happening behind the
curtains or I don't know. Itjust color me unsurprised. I guess that
(03:30):
it is really really sad. Iposted on Facebook and I was just thinking,
how is Dan Schneider, How isthis man walking around and breathing.
Just a hashtag does not compute. And then it was the same night.
It was the other night, liketwenty minutes after I watched the first episode,
all of a sudden, the newswent crazy with P Diddy apparently escaping
(03:54):
the country, which y'all, I'vedone so much googling on the ditty situation
and I still have no idea whatis going on there. All I know
is that he had multiple homes andI believe like Los Angeles raided by the
FBI in relation to a sex traffickinginvestigation going on. Some backup dancers and
(04:18):
people have done kind of you know, side interviews and whatnot over it.
Have y'all seen the allegations. Havey'all seen the allegations against him? I
mean, it's pretty serious. Thelast I heard was when they apparently tried,
you know, to raid his primaryresidence and he was gone and was
seen at the airport and was supposedlylike what on a plane trying to leave
(04:41):
the country. That's quite literally thelast that I heard. I've done so
much googling and no one can actuallysay where he is, which is fascinating
to me. The allegations are crazythough, and then should Knight, you
know, is in prison for servingfor voluntary manslaughter. He's in prison for
like thirty years or something, andhe called into a podcast to be like,
(05:01):
hey, you know, P Diddy, if you're caught, your life
is in danger. You know somuch about everyone, You're gonna one hundred
percent get killed if you're caught. And then there was a clip of another
actor, like a young actor whohit the advice that P. Diddy gave
him when he was a kid wasbasically record everything, and that A Diddy
had been recording every happening in hishome and residences and everything around him since
(05:23):
like nineteen ninety two. So Ican't imagine, but this story is wild.
I'm probably gonna break it down justbecause I mean, this really could
be huge, you guys. Thiscould be like Epstein level with the amount
of people, just the status ofthe people listed in some of these allegations,
like you know, Harry from theBritish royal family, not that he
committed any acts, just that heyou know, all of these famous,
(05:46):
world famous people were contacts of SeanCombs. So it's gonna be crazy all
but I'll probably lay it out inanother episode, because this could actually kind
of be an Iceberg, you knowwhat I mean. When a lot of
this information comes out, this couldbe the tip of a massive Epstein like
Iceberg. That being said, withthe Epstein comparison, it'll be interesting to
see if P Diddy makes it intoincarceration, I guess while still alive.
(06:12):
You know, we need to makesure he doesn't unalive himself. But I
digress. Let's talk about Ruby FrankieJody Hildebrandt in this entire chit show who
hits a doozy? Y'all? Okay? So, Washington County, Utah authorities
just recently the slide over the lastlike seven to ten days, released audio,
video and photos from this case.So for those of you who may
(06:38):
not be fully in the know onwhat exactly transpired here and you just want
to kind of a mid level summary, here we go. Okay, So,
there was a YouTube channel called eightPassengers and it was run by a
Mormon woman by the name of RubyFrankie and her husband Kevin, and it
(06:59):
more or less start their six children. Now eight Passengers at one point in
time had more than two point fivemillion subscribers. Not only that, but
it amassed one point two billion.Again, guys, wrap your minds around
this figure. One point two billionviews. Ruby posted on average roughly five
(07:24):
days a week, and so therewas always new content. People fell in
love with the family at first.Right, you have Ruby Frankie, whom
a lot of people would probably considerconventionally traditionally pretty, you know, blonde
hair, so on and so forth. Their house looked like Joanna Gaines.
Basically fucked it, you know, very stylistically attuned with a certain demographic of
(07:48):
you know, Mormon families, Pinterestmoms, you know a lot of just
regular women who are kind of intothat esthetic, and you know what I
mean, right, It kind ofhad over reaching support and appeal to a
lot of different groups of people,So it got a little bit more famous.
Eventually people started noticing that something wasn'tquite right, and it eventually got
(08:09):
shut down because a lot of peoplereally started digging into the parenting methods and
calling attention to them. They wouldmake children do wall sets, basically they
have to sit against a wall andmake them do it for hours. In
twenty twenty, one of the boyssaid that he was forced to sleep on
a bean bag for months as punishmentfor just the small prank on a sibling,
(08:33):
and then in another that upset onehundred percent the most people is that
Frankie's young daughter. I can't remember. I think she was six years Yes,
she was six years old. Hersix year old daughter forgot to bring
lunch with her to school, rightfor kindergarten. And so the school called
Ruby and clearly said, hey,you know so and so forgot her food.
(08:54):
Can you bring some? And Rubyrefused and she said absolutely not.
You know, that's her mistake. She should have gotten up, she should
have been thinking about it, andblah blah blah. This is a six
year old child. Eventually, enoughpeople started to complain. In the beginning,
like I said, it was KevinFrankie and Ruby Frankie. That's it,
okay. And this is a veryimportant point to make because it was
(09:16):
just Kevin and just Ruby, andthat channel got suspended, got taken down
because of claims and you know, allegations from viewers that some of the methods
of parenting. I mean, peopleclaim that it was downright child abuse to
just borderline abusive. But I digress. It got taken down on August thirtieth
(09:39):
of last year, Ruby. Frankie'stwelve year old son, referred to as
r F in the documents, ranto a neighbor's house. No one answered.
That home's ring doorbell caught the footage. Then another neighbor's ring doorbell caught
him coming up to it. Atten forty six, a m r F
begins to walk away, and thenyou hear the door open and a man
(10:03):
yell yes, And it's just heartbreaking. This is the man who made the
now infamous nine one one call wherehe's quite literally choking back tears and telling
the nine one one operator the dispatcherabout RF's wounds and how it appears that
he'd been detained. And I knowthat most of us have probably at least
heard this call, but I'm gonnago ahead and play a couple minutes of
(10:26):
this call because they did release thefull video. And what I find fascinating
is that is being able to watchit happen. I think Long Crime actually
posted it and they sinked everything right, the ring doorbell footage with the nine
one one call, and you knowall of that, they basically put it
back together as it were, withthe evidence that was made public. It
(10:48):
hits you a little harder to seethat this child. You see how amaciated
he is, and he's sitting thereon this man's porch and this woman,
you know, is going to gethim some food and candy and a dream,
and I think she made him alittle sandwich or something. He's sitting
like a foot and a half awayfrom him in the chair to kind of
trying to turn around, and he'schoking back tears and he's just right there,
(11:09):
and it just made it all justso much more visceral, so much
more impactful. I guess when yousee the video attached to that nine one
one call, let me go ahead. I'm gonna play the nine one one
call now, and I'm on theaddress of your emergency, okay, and
the pun numberer calling from tell meexactly what's happened. I just had a
(11:31):
twelve year old boy show up hereat my front door asking for help.
And he's said he had just camefrom a neighbor's house, and we know
there's been problems at this neighbor's house. He's emaciated, he's got tape around
his legs, he's hungry, andhe's thirsty. Okay, is your door
(11:52):
locked? No, I'm sitting outsidewith him on the front patio. Okay.
Cool. He asked us to callthe police. So he's very afraid.
What's your last name? And he'stwelve years old? Yes? Okay?
(12:18):
And can you ask him his dayof birth? Can you tell me
your birthday? Okay? And isare the neighbors out of their home or
is anybody looking for them that youcan see? No, we are homes
(12:39):
are far enough away. I'm notsure. How did you get out of
the house. He says, youjust left through the porch at the neighbor's
house. Her name is Jodie hildA Brand and she lives to ors up
(13:00):
the street. Yeah, I think, And the houses are far apart,
so he walked just under the blockto get to our house. He rang
my doorbell and asked me to callthe police. Does he seemed to be
under the influence of ductor alcohol?I don't think so. But he's very
thirsty and I don't think he needsany of us. I'll let the cops
(13:28):
decide that. But his ankles aretaped up and he won't tell us why.
Okay, But he has duct tapedaround each ankle. Yeah, there's
sores around him. I think thethe good chance he's been he has been
around his ankles, I mean he'swrists as well. Okay, this boy
has been. This kid has obviouslybeen. That's he's been. He's going
(14:03):
to change. He's he's obviously coveredin wounds. Okay, let's get the
paramedics headed over that way. Okay, Oh, that's a good idea too.
Let's see. Has he told youwhere his mom or dad are?
I haven't asked him that, Idon't think. Do you know what your
(14:31):
mommy is? Yeah, I'm surethat that doesn't matter. So do you
know your mom and dad are?Well? Actually, I don't know where
my mom is, but I doknow where my dad is. He's not
here, don't nowhere? Said hedoesn't see them. He usually knows where
(14:52):
his mom is. He doesn't knowwhere his dad is. That's is is
his mom home? He just sayshe doesn't live around here? Does your
(15:15):
mom around here? Have you seenher lately? He doesn't know where she
is right now? Does he knowhis mom's name? What's your mom's name?
Rube Ruby Frankie is his mom's name. So again, r F had
(15:39):
duct tape around his wrists and hisankles, there were seeping wounds underneath,
and they were visible to the eye. R F would later tell officers that
he had been held by his mother, Ruby Frankie, and her friend and
business partner, Jody hildebrand and thiswould kick off an investigation and obvious immediate
response to Jody Hildebrandt's home, whichI'll talk about talk more about here in
(16:03):
a moment. Let's talk more aboutwhat was going on in the background to
lead to this situation to begin with, So Ruby and Kevin Frankie had been
married for twenty two years. Twentytwo years. Granted, Kevin did just
file four divorce, so that runis now over. But they were married
for twenty two years, and theymet Jody Hildebrant. And if you've been
(16:26):
following this case, you may haveheard the name Jesse Hildebrant. Jesse is
Jody's niece and a biological female whoidentifies with ay them pronouns, So that's
how I'll refer to them going forward. But when Jesse was a teenager,
they were sent to live with theiraunt, Jody, who at that point
was a well known and well respectedclinician primarily affiliated with the LDS Church.
(16:48):
And the church would recommend her.She was friends with and recommended by bishops
for things like marriage and family counseling. And Jesse was a little bit rebellious.
And when Jesse was literally left atJody Hildebrand's you know, aunt Jody's
house, where Jody Hildebrandt starved them, forced them to sleep outside in the
snow when Jesse was just sixteen yearsold. Jesse said that their aunt Jody
(17:14):
can find them, lock them intorooms without shoes, told them that Satan
was working through them, and theyended up making a run for it,
and they were able to run away. And Jesse did in fact go to
the police to report the alleged abuse, but absolutely nothing was done. Jesse
would later go on recently to sayin an interview quote, this is not
(17:34):
just a specific thing to her, meaning Jody Utah culture is permeated with Mormon
culture, and this idea of coveringup and believing authority. Jody had everyone
wrapped around her finger. And Ijust want to say one thing, not
to completely shit on the LDS Church, but I'm gonna shit on the LDS
(17:55):
church here for a second. Allwhatever church would lie about this too.
Here's the thing right. The LDSChurch came out and said that Jody had
nothing to do with the LDS Churchfor years, Jody hilda Brandt hasn't been
affiliated with the church in any capacity, blah blah blah, like we were
aware of her being reprimanded, whichwe'll get to later as well. And
no, no, no knowledge ofJody Hildebrant. Jody also spoke multiple times
(18:18):
she went to multiple BYU women's conferences, most recently as twenty seventeen. That's
years after the church began to claimthat she had no affiliation with them whatsoever.
Yet was also directly recommended by thechurch for BYU conferences. So sorry,
LDS Church. Light detector tests well, a basic Google search would indicate
(18:40):
that that is actually a lie.But I digress, and it makes sense
as to why, and I'll getto that in my own personal theories later.
But I'll get into why. That'skind of important there. But in
any case, Nieche Jody reported itreportedly was abused years ago by their aunt.
Jody came out said it no onegave it so. The Mormon Stories
(19:02):
podcast on YouTube, hosted by JohnDelenn interviewed both Jesse and Adam Paul Steed
family man who saw Jody Hildebrandt withhis wife for marriage counseling. Now,
if you really want to see somethingbeyond evil, heartbreaking, that will probably
make you cry, because it mademe cry, lose faith in humanity.
(19:22):
Just watched the interview, especially theone with Adam Paul Steed. This poor
fucking man. He was molested whenhe was in the Boy Scouts, but
it was a troop that was completelycomprised of the LDS Church. He just,
oh God, just every form ofabuse this man could have pretty much
been subjected to he was even asa child. And then he thought that
(19:45):
he found his wife, his life, love of his life, and then
they met Jody Hildebrandt. For AdamPaul Stead again, he was sexually abused
as a child in Boy Scouts. It was a huge traumatic ordeal. It
became very public and going through thecourt system, a lot of the community
ostracized him. He then ended upgetting married and again going to see Jody
(20:08):
for marriage counseling. Jody hild abrand basically forced him into a group,
into group therapy with men that admittedto having raped children. Said, here,
you need to go be part ofthis therapy. It triggered him.
It triggered him that Jody kept gettingin with his wife, and it basically
the entire her entire mo played out. Okay, this is what we've seen
(20:30):
with a lot of her other casesas well. Jody will accuse the husband,
or she will conspire with the wifeto come out and say that the
husband has a porn addiction. Andthen the wife starts working with Jody one
on one, and somehow she tellsJody that her husband admitted to being attracted
(20:51):
to miners, that he had cheatedon her multiple times, and that it
was all because of his massive pornand sex addiction, and it was all
a lie. And this is whatJody did over and over. You know,
people including miners and children, bythe way, would be referred to
Jody by the church for just alltype primarily all types of types of addictions
and reasons, but primarily related tosex. She would accuse the husband of
(21:15):
various sins, you know, quoteunquote sins and addictions and then tell them
that they must separate. You mustgo work on yourself, go to men's
therapy. You need to get outof this home, go be by yourself
and figure out your shit. You'reevil, You're in inviting evil into the
home. Jody would then be spendingan inordinate amount of time with the wives,
and half the time, like inAdam Paul Steve's case, you know,
(21:38):
he wanted to, you know, come back, his wife was damn
near ready to accuse him of theblessing children. His wife was basically accusing
him of being a child molester.I mean, it was just And this
happened again repeatedly, and it seemedto be Jody Hildebrand's mo as Suddenly the
wife would say, well, youknow, my husband, you know,
either spousal rape or molested our childrenor and it would always be Jody Hildebrant.
(22:02):
They're pulling the strings like a littlepuppetmaster. So this played out with
Ruby Frankie in a similar way.In twenty eighteen, Ruby and Kevin were
having problems with their oldest son Chad, and sought counseling with Jody Hildebrant.
Again, Jody was referred to themby the church twenty eighteen, so Jody
began to spend especially a lot oftime with Ruby. Then Ruby and Kevin
(22:26):
began seeing her for marriage counseling bytwenty eighteen, y'all. And I had
to read this like four times inorder to process it. By twenty eighteen,
Jody was living with Ruby and KevinFrankie living with them, y'all,
living with them, She and Ruby, and this is all per Kevin.
(22:48):
She and Ruby would go into thebedroom for eight to nine hours at a
time and then come out, quotelike they were on cloud nine. Kevin
Frankie wasn't allowed to walk around hisown home. He had to ask for
permission it First, it started outhe was pushed out of the bedroom into
a guest bedroom. Then Ruby andJody were sleeping together in the same bed
(23:11):
while Kevin was in a separate bedroom. I have just a heads up.
I have very little empathy or sympathyor any athees for Kevin Frankie, and
he could quite frankly, go fuckhimself. So I'll, you know,
talk more about that later. Butjust imagine if the rules were reversed,
y'all. And imagine if a womanand her husband comes home and is like,
(23:36):
yeah, you need to go sleepin the uh extra bedroom, you
need to go sleep in the sparebedroom. This new woman our therapist that
I'm spending all the time with she'sI'm gonna be sleeping with her. Now
she's gonna be sleeping in our bedtogether. You go sleep in the you
know, uh spare room. Bythe way, I'm giving myttres mistress,
the entire you know, well kindof quote unquote mistress. Right. It
(23:56):
was never outright said to my ownunderstanding, but this woman, I'm giving
her ownership of the top level ofour house. By the way, So
if you want to go the secondstory of the home that you pay for,
that you bought, you need toask my permission, because that's this
new woman's space. And all ofthat happened with Kevin and Ruby in their
(24:17):
own home. Ruby was quite literallydictating everything everything, and so eventually Ruby
ended up joining Jody on the podcastConnections and became a kind of sort of
business partner with her. And thenJody dropped the bomb. And then Jody
(24:37):
dropped the bomb. She told Kevinthat, nope, you and Ruby need
to fully separate and go completely nocontact. Kevin, you can't see the
kids. You have to find thetruth. You are not living the family
truth or your truth or whatever nonsenseshe said. And then what happened after
he left, Ruby ends up movingin with Jody into her remote desert home
(25:02):
with her kids in tow And notjust that, but again now Ruby is
sharing Jody's bed. Now, basedon the information up to this point,
I'm just gonna inject a little bitof my own personal theories into this mix.
Now. Again, I have nocredentials whatsoever other than living life and
being a gay, So I'm gonnarely on both of those and a little
(25:23):
deductive reasoning to try to figure thisout. I think it is most likely.
And also, I'm sorry, Iget the vibes off of Jody as
well, y'all, and I'm sorry. I think that Jody is most likely
a closeted lesbian who is struggling withfeelings of self loathing and hatred. And
(25:44):
I feel like she also has areally, really big statistic streak. I
think that it's wild that that situationpersisted for so long with so many different
couples, because she's been reported alot. Then she got in trouble for
discussing patients with BIU don't forget whenshe was reprimanded and her licensing and licensure
(26:08):
impacted. But had Jody been aman that wouldn't have lasted. That wouldn't
have lasted. I mean quite literally, moving in with someone, pushing the
spouse out, sleeping in the samebed, sharing the same bed, parenting
together, taking vacations together. Ipersonally believe that Jody and Ruby were in
(26:30):
a sort of relationship. Now,everyone has said, including Jesse right,
that Jody Hildebrandt is incredibly homophobic, but apparently, apparently Jody believes that if
women are really close, that theycan have sexual relationships with one another because
(26:53):
they have deep, meaningful connections. So basically, she could have sexual intimacy,
say with Ruby, and it wouldbe explained away because they have deep,
meaningful connections. So it's not justyou know, a nasty gay hookup,
right, and that it doesn't necessarilymean that you're gay. It just
(27:15):
means that you want to be closesexually, sexually with a really, really,
really good friend. So I thinkthat Jody enjoys. I think she
relishes in breaking up heterosexual marriages.I think she also takes pleasure in degrading
and pushing the men out of thesituation. I think it's almost like a
(27:37):
power move for her. It's almostlike self you know, it's almost like
validating, she's validating herself in someway, punishing and validating all at the
same time, punishing these Mormon men, you know, her contemporaries and basically
taking their wives. And if wehaven't learned anything, If we've learned anything,
y'all, it's that some of thesepeople and the friend, I mean,
(28:00):
god, not even so much Frene. There's a lot of gullibility,
right, There's a lot of naivete. There is a kind of higher than
normal level of gullibility. And Ifeel like it's possible that Jody was a
sort of predator on this. Ithink that's absolutely possible. Am I saying
that that happened? I mean,it's proven in a lot of cases,
(28:21):
right in terms of her moving thehusband out and isolating the wife. Everything
else in terms of sexual relationship andwhatnot is pure speculation on my part.
It doesn't matter at the end ofthe day. But I just find her.
I just find it fascinating, thisentire situation. That's, honestly,
in my completely uninformed opinion, probablyhow I feel that I went down.
But is Jody self aware? Like, does she know what she's doing?
(28:45):
Does she know why she's doing it? Is this a Lori Valo type situation
where it's really about religious fanaticism aswell. I don't know. I don't
know. It's crazy though, becauseit is clear that this is a case
about relige, just fanaticism. Imean, if you look at it,
all it takes is one charismatic orparticularly nutty person to convince others of whatever
(29:07):
it is that they want to bebelieved. And in this case you have
a very well respected therapist in theLDS community and it didn't take much more
than that. That was backed bythe church, and that's all it took.
And then you add in a YouTubeinfluencer. That's quite literally it okay,
So separately, now, Ruby Frankie'sjournal entries were also released in this
(29:29):
latest evidence drop, and you cansee just how much of a zealot she
is in these. She was reallybelieving that the devil was working through her
ten and twelve year old children andthat they had to be damn near tortured
to death in order for them toget through it, to basically not be
harassed or possessed by Satan. Shelegitimately accused her children of being possessed by
the devile. But more on thejournals than other evidence here. In a
(29:51):
second, going back to August thirtiethof last year, Robert escaped, made
it to the neighbor's house and policewere contacted. Yeah, I've already played
some of that nightma one call. There's also chesscam footage from the scene that
was released showing RF being loaded intothe back of the ambulance. I mean,
they made I have to say notto go on another tangent chef's kiss.
Hats off to the transparency of thepolice apartment in this case and the
(30:15):
openness that they've had with between thepolice and the media. It is incredible.
So again, August thirtieth, RFescaped, chesscam footage, blah blah
blah. Now, after police werecalled to that neighbor's house and he was
you know, sent in to thehospital for evaluation, more officers had gathered
at Jody Hildebrand's house to check onthe other children present, and body camera
(30:38):
footage shows officers knocking like on herhuge wood and glass front door. I
mean, it's fancy, y'all. You don't really hear anything. And then
the door opens and there's Jody onthe phone with her attorney and she's refusing
to step outside. Now, I'mjust gonna play about a minute of audio,
maybe minute, maybe max and ahalf. Haven't decided yet, so
you can hear what this looks likelike. Okay, where's movement there?
(31:15):
Goad movement? Oh, Jody, and you said I have that's great?
Sat by the house. No,I'm not house. How do you tell
(31:37):
me my house? Can they goinginto my house? Have a seat right
there? Do you have a searchone? Seat right there? Have a
search on a seat right there.I'll explain everything after. I have a
seat right there, Search control twelve. Can you hold there? We're searching
the house. I can tell youwhat's in the house. Okay, just
have a seat right there for me. Do you have a search work?
(32:00):
We'll explain it after this. Youcan't just come into my house if that
a search work. We'll explain everythingafter this now, okay, y'all.
So if you have the chance towatch the full video again, I think
long Crime has the full thing. It's worth watching them pluck her ass out
(32:22):
of that house and just right ontoher walkway. I mean you can see
and hear the panic in her voiceand knowing especially what type of person she
is and what she did. Justoh, it gave it just a little
bit. It felt good, y'all, it felt good. So they arrived
to the house, they pulled herass out, and they searched the home,
and they found Ruby's ten year olddaughter sitting in a dark bathroom closet.
(32:46):
She was wearing blue jeans and apink shirt. Her hair had been
buzzed off. She's clearly terrified andunable to speak, and also very very
very clearly emaciated as well. Therea series of paramedics and officers that kind
of filter in and out trying totalk to her. She will not speak.
A paramedic ends up bringing her asmall personal pizza and a drink.
(33:09):
And this child, y'all, wasso hungry that she ate all of the
personal pizza and half of a largepizza. It took four hours of coaxing
and reassuring her to get her outof that closet. And both children,
whether it was RF or her, both children appear thin their days. They're
(33:30):
in a stupor, they're hardly ableto move, they're emaciated, and they
blame themselves. Now, RF,here's the thing, y'all. When RF
escaped that day, that day earlier. That day when he escaped, he
wasn't going to get help. Hewasn't going to try to save himself or
(33:52):
anything like that. It was hewas trying to report himself because he was
such a sinner. He thought thatit was the right thing to do because
it was all, you know, everything happening was his fault. He wasn't
trying to save himself for his sister. He was trying to turn himself into
police. It's just terrible. Theinjuries from the children are so bad.
(34:14):
In one video, a paramedic outsideof Jodie's home tells an officer, I'm
crying, and that male officer replied, I know. That's why I have
my shades on again. A paramedicand an officer were both crying because the
scene was so bad. While thiswas going on, Ruby arrived at the
(34:35):
house. You see police patter down. They have her sit on the couch
and she is as mad as awet hen. She refuses to speak to
anyone. I mean, she justhas this stuck up and titled hateful look
on her face. And finally, based on the discoveries made of the children
as well as bandages and wound care, first aid type of stuff. They
(34:58):
are both arrested and they're both transportedto the local police department where they are
interviewed. Ruby just shuts down, she turns off. She's stewing, right,
she's stewing. Have any of y'allever dated a girl and when she
gets mad she just stews or whenshe like you hadn't even been in a
fight yet, you just know thatshe's stewing, and like it's over,
(35:22):
you know she's mad. Well,Ruby was mad, and she finally said
that she would not speak until shehad a lawyer, and that entire interrogation
in the police apartment lasted roughly threeminutes for her. Jodie lasted a whole
seven and a half minutes. She'soverly friendly. She tells them, you
know, you officers seem like nicepeople, and I would I really want
to talk to you, but mylawyer did advise me not to say a
(35:45):
word to you until he can behere in person with me. But y'all
seem very nice, and I'm nottrying to hide anything. I'm really y'all.
I'm not trying to be difficult, but I mean, really, if
you knew everything about this, youwould just you would have a lot of
empathy for what's going on right now, you know, like there's a lot
going on, kind of blaming thekids, right basically saying that the kids
(36:06):
are so troubled. Now Ruby hadnow Ruby Frankie at that point had four
minor children, and they were allplaced into state custody. Ruby and Jody
were eventually charged with six counts offelony child abuse. So I'm going to
go through some of the evidence thatwas released. Okay, some of these
are physical as well as non physicalinjuries. They were extremely malnourished and would
(36:30):
be deprived of food and water forextended periods of time. They were forced
to work outside in the desert heatin temps above one hundred without shoes for
hours at a time on particularly hotdays. RF was deprived water and would
be punished if he secretly snuck adrink of water from an outdoor hose.
They were made to carry heavy boxesup and downstairs. The wounds from being
(36:52):
bound with duct tape would get seriouslyinfected. Jody and Ruby had used cayenne,
pepper and honey to treat the wounds. Our f was indoctrinated into believing
quote and convince him that he wasevil and possessed. He was made to
believe that the torture he endured constitutedquote unquote acts of love, and that
(37:13):
quote the punishments were necessary to repent. One of Ruby's personal journal interriies said,
quote, these selfish, selfish childrenwho only desire to take, lie
and attack have zero understanding of God'slove for them. Another one of her
journal injuries, said it's the birthdayand he doesn't even know what month it
(37:34):
is. She wrote that on Julytenth, which was r F's twelfth birthday,
he was so neglected as a humanbeing, as a child in abuse
that he didn't even know. Thisis Ruby writing this quote. It is
his birthday and he doesn't even knowwhat month it is. I told him
that he emulates a snake. Heslithers and sneaks around, looking for opportunities
when no one is watching. Andthen also Ruby wrote at length about her
(37:59):
and Jody's plan to buy property inArizona. Jody had apparently been looking at
a remote, five hundred acre propertyin the middle of nowhere Arizona. Ruby
wrote about this, and she said, quote, they will think they won,
referring to her children. Right,This is Ruby referring to her kids.
Quote they will think they won. They will think they got what they
(38:20):
wanted. They will relax. Thenpop, we will drop them like hot
potatoes out in the desert their newhome. She then goes on to describe
how it would have room for themto build a ranch so that the children
could experience quote natural outcomes like akick from a horse or a cactus to
run into. She said, quotethe devil does not want us to take
(38:45):
the children out of society. Hedid not want Jody finding this property.
He wanted Jody and I down atthe police station, not discovering a place
to bring intervention to his entanglement ofmy children. And finally, in a
journal entry on August twenty seventh, just three days before RF escaped and authorities
descended upon Hildebrandt's home, Ruby mentionedthat she had been packing and preparing for
(39:08):
a large move and in the chesscamfootage that you see on this newly released
evidence after the thirtieth when RF basicallyescaped and got the police involved, the
home was wrack. Jody's home wasa wreck. Jody even admitted to police
one time that a lot of theirstuff, you know, had been stored.
They were about to snatch those kids. Kevin had been told that the
(39:30):
kids were so happy without him,They're doing great. You don't have to
worry. He basically just sent moneybecause he's a dumb, dumb bastard,
just sent money. Kids are good, though, they were about to just
up and leave the state and goto rural Arizona and not tell like anybody.
And in my opinion, based onthese journal entries alone, okay,
(39:52):
just the journal entries alone, whichdo in fact document a lot of abuse
and a lot more abuse. Bythe way, if you want to hear
the full or read the full thing, it's all available online. Those kids
would have been dead within a month. Those kids would have been dead within
a month. It would have beena Lori Valo situation in terms of a
great hunt for children. The kidswould not have been alive. It's heartbreaking,
(40:14):
Like it's actually pretty incredible, Andthat's actually kind of what blew my
mind the most out of all ofthis is that I don't think when this
case broke, a lot of usrealized just how close these children were probably
to the end. And when youread all of the evidence and see the
evidence and everything altogether. There isno doubt in my mind that had RF
(40:34):
magically not decided to quote unquote turnhimself in on August thirtieth of last year,
both he and his sister would likelybe dead, if not more so.
There was a trial, but theyeach pled guilty to four counts of
aggravated child abuse, and two countswere in fact dismissed. I mean,
it became very very clear that therewas enough evidence to basically put them away
(40:57):
without anything. I mean, Rubygave this tinged, you know, religious
fanaticism type of thing, with alittle bit of remorse. Jody apparently has
no remorse. And the prosecutor inthis Eric Clark, after the sentencing,
he said that he hopes that HildaBrand will serve more time than Ruby.
He said that at least Ruby Frankieunderstands that what she did was wrong and
(41:20):
that it was abuse, and thatshe had accepted responsibility. But apparently Jody
Hildebrant has made statements and calls fromjail suggesting that she doesn't have any remorse
at all. Eric Clark also said, quote, at the end of the
day, this is a case aboutreligious extremism and I think that Missus Frankie's
statement kind of got into that theseguys went down a rabbit hole and missus
(41:42):
miss Hildebrandt believed that she was regularlytalking to God and Missus Frankie was following
the directions that she was getting fromMiss Hildebrant. I've already gone over my
own personal thing again. I thinkthat Jody Hildebrandt closeted gay lashing out angry
she can ruin you know, heteromarriages as she can and elias culture.
I think it was just basically ashit show, right. But here's the
(42:04):
thing. Ruby is special because thereare some people that have a level of
sadism, right, and I thinkthat Jody is clearly right. Before she
even moved in with the Frankies,Jody had had so many accusations and allegations
of sadism and just evil lobbied againsther. I think that it was very
(42:30):
clear because it was in the publicview on the eight Passengers YouTube channel,
that Ruby also had that same typetype of sadistic streak. I think that
again, kind of like in howChad Dabell was a lying sack of shit
and basically kind of looked around andtried to fling his own poo at the
wall of how many special followers canI get? He found his match,
(42:54):
his perfect follower with Lori Vaalo rightlike she was already a kind of shitty,
mean person, but then the rightamount of manipulation and religious zealotry just
makes people go off the edge. And then I feel like, for at
least in my opinion, I feellike this is kind of the same thing.
You had Jody, who was againfamous, well known, well respected,
(43:15):
very well connected religious zealot. Youalso have Ruby, who was a
religious zealot, and they had amatching level of sadism and cruelty and brutality.
And I think that that's why theyjust together immediately right off the bat,
is because they shared that. Idon't think that Ruby needed much convincing
(43:38):
whatsoever. I don't think that ninetynine percent of even LDS born women,
right, I mean, because let'sbe honest, a lot of LDS raised
women are taught that they aren't necessarilyequal. I don't even think ninety nine
percent of them would have gone alongwith Jody's teachings. I think that Ruby
Frankie herself has a special statistic streakand that it just happened to me.
(44:00):
Match Jody hold the brands, andI hope they both wrought for a very
long time, to be honest withyou, because I don't think that this
is just a religious fanaticism thing.I don't think there's a lot. I
think that they are too special, horrible human beings. Just my two cents
though, So some of you whomay not have followed this case may be
wondering, Okay, well, whathappened to Kevin Frankie, what's he been
(44:21):
up to? Or surely he hasall the kids right, the six kids?
Well, before you get ahead ofyourself, Sherry Frankie, their oldest
child. While all this was goingon, while Kevin had moved out of
the Frankie household and was, youknow, living an hour away, out
of the house, letting Jody sleepin bed with his wife at home,
Sherry realized that something was not righthere. She was out of the house
(44:44):
already. She would repeatedly call Kevin. You know, she was outside of
the home. He was outside ofthe home. I believe she was in
college, correct me if I waswrong, But no one would answer her.
And then she actually called the police. She called the local police,
and she filed multiple CPS welfare checksand made reports to the police basically saying
something is horribly wrong here, there'sabuse here, these children are neglected,
(45:06):
emaciated, like do something. Noaction was taken. In fact, Washington
County CPS refused to act and saidthat they couldn't due to a new update
in the law. So Sherry Frankietried, right, she tried to engage
in with her dad to save thefamily. So then after Ruby Frankie and
Jody Hildebrandt, you know, andeverybody moved. Kevin Frankie had lived out
(45:30):
of the outside of the home fora year, right well after Jody and
Ruby were arrested, Sherry Frankie wentto the home in on August thirty first,
the day after, right the dayafter, at Ruby Frankie's house,
the day after they were arrested,Scherry Frankie went to the home got like
some personal items. I think shegot an iPad or whatever for the two
(45:52):
sisters who were in like basically aDCFS custody right child protect a sir in
Family Services cussy. They were inthe States custody, and so the case
worker told police that they believed thatKevin Frankie might be at the house and
that he might not be cooperative,so they brought police there and when they
(46:15):
were there, Sherry Frankie and abunch of other people were already at the
house, and she pretty much toldthem, you know, hey, here's
what's going on. Kevin Frankie wantedto charge her for burglary, and then
he also threatened to sue the police. He again, y'all, again,
here is how fucked up this manis. Not only did he participate in
(46:37):
all of the eight Passengers videos wherehe was shown bullying like a you know,
high school bully his small child, making fun of them, signing off
literally co signing off on Ruby Frankie'sabuse that she administered to the other children.
He was just as guilty as shewas during that time. He willingly
(46:58):
let Jody Hildebrandt take over his role, his spot in the bed, literally
his bedroom and his home, andwent to go live and do men's therapy
an hour away. Promised no contactwith his own children, wasn't allowed to
come back to his house for anyreason, but you know, did send
money. He ignored repeated pleas froman older daughter who saw what was going
on, the emaciation and all ofthat, refused to answer her phone calls,
(47:22):
refused to see her, and thenwhen all of this stuff is made
public, he cries over the thought. In his interviews over his wife going
to jail, you can tell veryvery clearly he gave no shits about his
own children or their well being. It was all about Ruby, because that's
who he was infatuated with. That'sall he cared about while separating himself from
(47:44):
the situation. And you know,he did even say in investigators yell,
my children are bad, you know, kind of further supporting it but also
making himself not a responsible party. And then the day after he threatens to
sue his own child because she wentto her home, her mom's house,
which he hadn't lived at again forover a year, to grab an iPad
(48:05):
and some personal items for her siblings, for her young siblings that are going
into state foster care because they hadbeen so heinously abused. And his concern
is to sue that older daughter forstepping up and being there for the younger
children. So I'm not quite surewhere the sympathy boat like is with Kevin
(48:29):
Frankie and why On Reddit and Facebookand all these groups and news articles,
people are like, poor man,you know, poor Kevin. He's just
he's manipulated and it's the evil woman. And this is something and y'all can
get mad about it if you wantto, You can get like all mad
about it. Is that for somereason, and this is true for all
(48:52):
the true crime. It's why peopleare so interested in Lorie Vallow. It's
because it's a beautiful woman. It'slike the black widow effect. A lot
of people just want to see pretty, whether you believe so or not.
You know, traditionally, pretty womenfail. Everybody in the story can be
awful. And in this story thereare no winners. Do not collect one
(49:12):
hundred dollars, do you know,Pasco? Everybody except for the children.
And the story really really sucks. But it is horrible. It's really really
sad. And I could talk aboutthis case forever, y'all, but that
is it for today. I wasn'tsure how many of you guys you followed
the whole thing versus kind of thevery beginning when a boy escaped. We
didn't know the gravity of it orthe situation behind it. And it's all
(49:34):
just so fat incredibly fascinating to me. But yeah, I just wanted to
talk about that because my mind wasjust completely grown and it's kind of like
the Utah slash Idaho connects. Somuch going on there right now, or
maybe the media just as a wholerealizes that anything that happens in that area
right now, especially pertaining to theLDS Church just it's a little bit more
sensationalized because of Lori Valo and someother cases. Who knows that does it
(49:58):
for today, y'all? I haveanother episode coming later in this week,
and it's more of a hometown typething going on. No, it is
not the Riley Strain case, althoughthat has played out here very very locally
and horrifically as well. So superexcited to talk about that later this week.
What did y'all think? What doyou think of the Ruby Frankie?
How many years do you think they'regoing to actually spin in prison? And
(50:20):
how do you feel about Kevin Frankie? Do you think he is as guilty
more so guilty not as you canleave your comments shoot him over to info
at wesawthedevil dot com And yeah,I will see y'all next week. Until
next crime,
