SPEAKER_00 (00:12):
Hey, everybody, and
welcome to We Watch TV.
It is the podcast about the TVthat we watch.
I am Daniel, she is Hope, andyou have stumbled upon yet
another Supercut.
If you're new here and you'renot sure what a Supercut episode
is, it's when we take clips fromvarious different podcast
episodes put them together intoone long cut specifically about
(00:34):
one certain show uh this episodein particular we are talking all
about the white lotus seasonthree
SPEAKER_03 (00:41):
hyper no
SPEAKER_00 (00:43):
anything else to add
i ask myself that all the time
SPEAKER_03 (00:51):
wait to me i don't
think
SPEAKER_00 (00:56):
so We're on vacation
this week, and so we wanted
everybody to have somethingvacation-themed to listen to in
our absence.
And what better thing could bethan our fun little friends over
at the White Lotus?
So, to kick it off, we startedtalking about Season 3 of the
White Lotus all the way back inEpisode 95, Flowers in the
Attic, White Lotus Edition.
SPEAKER_04 (01:16):
Let's flush this
conversation away, because we
have a new show that is back! The White Lotus Season 3 on HBO
Max or HBO, I guess.
SPEAKER_00 (01:28):
I got a bone to pick
with them right off the bat.
Where's our song?
I
SPEAKER_04 (01:32):
don't know.
It dropped on Sunday.
It's going to air on Sunday.
We have eight episodes.
And like Daniel said...
My complaint, that's my onecomplaint from the premiere.
I really only have one complaintfrom the premiere, and it's the
song is different.
I kept trying to hear, and I betthey do have it in there, like,
if you're a musical person witha trained ear, please tell me,
(01:54):
is there any, like, chords or alittle bit of a loop to the
original theme song?
Because the season one themesong and season two theme song,
I think, were slightlydifferent.
SPEAKER_01 (02:02):
They were, but it
was in there.
But it was still, like, thevibe.
SPEAKER_04 (02:04):
This is completely
different, or at least it sounds
completely different to me.
And I was like, where I think Iwas more upset about it than you
because I'm like, where's thetheme song?
SPEAKER_00 (02:13):
You were extremely
fixated to the point of being
unable to concentrate onanything else.
I'm
SPEAKER_04 (02:19):
like, okay, well,
are they going to get into it?
Like, are we going to get intothe actual theme song?
We're not alone in this.
Everybody else is like, why'dthey change the theme song?
But they change kind of everyseason.
Sometimes there are some throughcharacters like Jennifer
Coolidge.
And then I don't know what hisname is.
Uncle Rico?
What is his name?
We call him Uncle Rico fromNapoleon Dynamite.
Is it Greg?
(02:40):
In
SPEAKER_00 (02:41):
the show?
I think it is Greg in the show, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (02:42):
Watch it not be.
Anyway, I'm not going to look itup.
We call him Uncle Rico, NapoleonDynamite.
Hey, do you think I could throwa football over these mountains?
SPEAKER_00 (02:50):
Coach would have put
me in in the fourth quarter.
We'd have been state champs, nodoubt.
SPEAKER_04 (02:53):
No doubt in my mind.
SPEAKER_00 (02:55):
Before we go too
deep into this, I do want to
point out that we have actuallycovered both seasons one and two
of The White Lotus.
So if you're interested inhearing about those, you can go
all the way back to February3rd, 2023.
Our Our second episode of thepodcast.
I was going to
SPEAKER_04 (03:12):
say that was one of
our early episodes.
SPEAKER_00 (03:13):
Where we talked
about seasons one and two of The
White Lotus.
So get that out there.
Other than your obvious majorcomplaint about...
SPEAKER_04 (03:21):
And your complaint.
SPEAKER_00 (03:23):
Well, yeah, about
the song.
What'd you think?
One episode in.
It's one episode in.
I
SPEAKER_04 (03:28):
immediately need
more.
So...
Like I was saying, there aresome characters that are through
characters, but usually it tendsto be a fresh new cast each
season.
We are seeing one of the ladiesfrom the season one of The White
Lotus.
She kind of played the masseuse, and she looks like she's going
to get some training.
So let's kick it off.
Let's see.
Season one was in Hawaii.
Season two was in Italy.
(03:49):
Yes.
And season three is in Thailand.
And we do have season fourconfirmed.
SPEAKER_00 (03:54):
I saw on Reddit
today that they had confirmed
season four and And it will bein Norway.
SPEAKER_04 (04:02):
They should really
do Walt Disney World, or like
you said, the Great Wolf Lodge.
SPEAKER_00 (04:07):
The Great Wolf Lodge
would be pretty
SPEAKER_04 (04:08):
funny.
Think of all the zaniness.
But yeah, I thought it wasreally good.
Great kickoff.
Great premiere.
It's back to that wackiness thatI like.
Walter Goggins.
I didn't even know he was goingto be in this season until
fairly recently.
So we've got him in there.
So he's always going to just bea scene stealer.
Then let's see here.
(04:29):
We have her name.
The actress's name is LeslieBibb.
I just know her from the show onthe WB.
Rest in peace to that network.
I think now it's the CW.
And I don't even know if the CWI think still exists.
She was on a show calledPopular.
But what most of us know herfrom is Taliesin.
I wouldn't
SPEAKER_00 (04:51):
have recognized her
if you hadn't pointed it out.
SPEAKER_04 (04:54):
She has shorter hair
in this.
And then...
Her name's like Michelle.
I don't know what her last nameis.
I can't pronounce it.
But she has blonder hair andshe's kind of in that group.
But she's been in a bunch ofstuff.
Like she's in that movie withMcDreamy called Maid of Honor.
She's done a movie with BenStiller.
So she's an actress.
She always like shows up inmovies, which I guess, you know,
(05:15):
as an actress, that's your jobto book roles in movies.
And then we have Lucius Malfoy.
What is that actor's name?
Oh,
SPEAKER_00 (05:24):
I don't know.
SPEAKER_04 (05:24):
I just know him as
Louisius Malfoy.
And him trying to do a SouthernNorth Carolina accent, odd.
Parker Posey, they're together.
They're married.
We have Arnold Schwarzenegger'sson, Patrick Schwarzenegger, is
in this as well.
He's their weird, creepy son.
And then other than that, Idon't really know a lot of the
other actors that are in it.
(05:45):
So right off the bat,Observation number one is we
start off, and I think it goeslike one week earlier, so we
start off with the one lady fromseason one's presumed, we
believe this is her son.
SPEAKER_00 (05:59):
Presumed.
We don't know that for sure, buta lot of the context clues are
pointing us in that direction.
SPEAKER_04 (06:03):
So he's like trying
to meditate, and he's like,
ma'am, there's gunshots.
So after the gunshots, we getour classic one week earlier,
and then you have the staffwaiting like you always see, I
feel like, in both other seasonsof White Lotus.
And then you have the groupcoming in on the boat, getting
ready to embark on theirvacation.
(06:23):
So Walter Goggins is with awoman.
I just call her like...
I think she's cute, but I justcall her like the teeth girl.
And they do reference her teethin the show.
They do, yeah.
So I'm not being mean when I saythat.
I don't remember her name.
So we've got those two together.
She
SPEAKER_00 (06:37):
talks like a machine
gun.
SPEAKER_04 (06:38):
Yeah.
We have the group of the threeladies that I'm guessing they're
probably like...
mid to upper 40s based and likeone of them is
SPEAKER_00 (06:50):
like a quasi
celebrity I don't get the
impression she's super famousyeah but she's definitely got
some that's what I want to talkto you
SPEAKER_04 (06:57):
about because I felt
like I was like maybe she's an
influencer then I'm like noshe's a little old for an
influencer then I was thinkingmaybe like some type of low-key
talk show type thing like a talkshow host yeah I don't know I
guess older people can beinfluencers now too and then We
have the family from NorthCarolina.
(07:17):
That's Louisius Malfoy andParker Posey.
And there are three kids.
And there's three kids.
Let's just
SPEAKER_00 (07:23):
kick it off.
Creep fest.
Creep fest.
Let's talk about them.
Red flags.
HBO, why do we have to do this?
Game of Thrones, now this.
What are we doing?
SPEAKER_04 (07:33):
So the three kids, I
really, really hope that they
are not biologically relatedchildren and that at least the
younger two are adopted.
I think Patrick Schwarzenegger'scharacter is...
like their actual biologicalson.
He's the one that's working withthe dad.
He's weird.
He's creepy.
But then the other two kids, this is why I'm saying, okay, if
(07:55):
they're all relatedbiologically, what in the
flowers in the attic is goingon?
Do you know flowers in
SPEAKER_00 (08:00):
the attic?
Yes, I do.
I got no indication whatsoeverfrom this episode that they were
not all three of their kids.
SPEAKER_04 (08:07):
Why did we all read
flowers in the attic in
elementary school?
SPEAKER_00 (08:11):
listen
SPEAKER_04 (08:13):
that's some weird
stuff man if you know you know
anyway flowers in the atticbasically too long didn't read
version the brother and thesister like hook up because
they're trapped in this attic bytheir abusive grandmother and
they like do it okay got thatout of the way so there's just a
lot of vibes like so we have theyoungest brother and they're
going because the sister iswanting to write her thesis
(08:34):
which something's up with thati'm sus with her she didn't even
go talk to the monk or whatevershe was supposed to do i don't
know what what's going on thereand she's like well he can sleep
in my room and then PatrickSchwarzenegger's character is
like no the brother can sleep inmy room you wouldn't want them
sleeping together becausethey're both like developed like
body or I don't know likebasically
SPEAKER_00 (08:54):
it was real weird it
was our very first real
introduction to his characterand it made it set the tone for
his character which is verystrange
SPEAKER_04 (09:01):
he's making the guy
from season one that Molly
Shannon was his mom that waslike obsessed about getting
moved to the suite that hebooked like he's making that
This guy seemed normal.
He's making Theo James'character seem normal.
This guy's creepy because whenhe's in the room with his
brother later that night, he'sjust walking around naked and
(09:22):
still talking.
I know brothers probably talkabout hooking up with girls, but
not in the way
SPEAKER_01 (09:28):
this
SPEAKER_04 (09:29):
was done.
And it's just...
Please, I just, they gotta, theycannot all be related.
Please tell me they're not allrelated, HBO, please.
And don't you, that'd be a very, like, southern stereotype, too.
I don't want to hear it.
Now, I'm going to say this.
The accents are weird.
I don't think any of theseactors can do a North Carolina,
because, like, Parker Posey andLouisa S.
(09:51):
Malfoy, they're, like, trying todo this North Carolina accent,
but all I hear is actors tryingto do an accent.
What about you?
SPEAKER_00 (10:00):
Yeah, I didn't, the
kids didn't.
No.
But that's true,
SPEAKER_04 (10:04):
though, in life.
Sometimes you'll see the kidsdon't pick it up as bad as the
parents.
I don't know.
The whole thing was weird.
SPEAKER_00 (10:11):
I think for people
who don't live around people who
have those kind of accents, probably they don't notice it,
but...
we happen to live in places ofthe world where that kind of
accent is a little prevalent, and I even have a little bit of
that to a certain extent.
And so it's just every time Ihear one that doesn't sound
right, it just really doesn'tsound right.
(10:32):
They were,
SPEAKER_04 (10:32):
like, phasing it in
and out.
SPEAKER_00 (10:33):
Yeah, that's the
problem, too, is phase out of
the accents.
Like, sometimes the actors justhave trouble with certain stuff,
so they just don't do it, andit's, like, really difficult.
SPEAKER_04 (10:42):
So Luiz Dias Malfoy,
that's his name.
That's what we're going to callhim.
I really miss his long, blondewig.
So he...
has some business dealings andsomething's going on.
So that's the drama on that end.
I think Parker Posey'scharacter, or Lindsay Carlisle
Shea, I think there's somethinggoing on.
(11:02):
She must just be on pills allthe time because she's half out
of it, half asleep.
And then their youngest son, whothe other siblings are being
creepy towards, he got into bothDuke and UNC, the two rival
schools.
And I wonder if anybody thatdoesn't pay attention to like
sports and stuff like people areprobably like why are they
talking about that I'm like nothat actually is a big deal
(11:25):
which one you would go to so wehave that whole plot we have the
sister that's just that they'rethey're my weird weird weird
family something's going on Ireally hope those kids aren't
related.
Anything else you want to sayabout the weird family?
SPEAKER_00 (11:40):
I think we have a
good transition from them as
also the dad has had two run-inswith Walton Goggins' character,
and he doesn't like him.
Is it
SPEAKER_04 (11:48):
Walton or Walter?
I
SPEAKER_00 (11:49):
think it's Walton.
SPEAKER_04 (11:50):
We're terrible with
names.
Whatever.
He's awesome.
This actor's awesome.
SPEAKER_00 (11:54):
So he was smoking on
the boat, and then when he was
out making the dad, when LuciusMalfoy was out making his phone
call, they ran into each otheragain and I just feel like
they're either throwing a redherring up to us here or they're
you know obviously we know bythe end of the season a major
conflict is going down and sothe question is who's involved
(12:16):
with that and they're making usthey're giving us people
clashing right now with thosetwo
SPEAKER_04 (12:20):
and they're not even
supposed to be on their phones
in the lobby you're supposed totake them I would never give up
my phone on vacation she's likeyou can put your phone in this
bag like the lady at the hoteland I'd be like absolutely not
so He, though, Walton Goggins'character, he is wanting to find
the husband of the wife who ownsthat resort.
SPEAKER_03 (12:43):
Yes.
SPEAKER_04 (12:43):
Because something's
going on there.
He's Mr.
Cranky Pants, but then hispresumed girlfriend, travel
buddy, what will you, she's justa little chatterbox.
Yeah.
And we had to pause the episodebecause I don't think we're
anything like this couple, butexcept for in this particular
moment, what did he say to her
SPEAKER_00 (13:03):
I think they'd just
gotten back to their room and
they were talking she was
SPEAKER_04 (13:08):
talking about
everything
SPEAKER_00 (13:09):
in the room and he
was like you're like an effing
machine gun
SPEAKER_04 (13:13):
with all the
questions and all the talking
and
SPEAKER_00 (13:15):
just you know if you
know Walton Goggins you know how
he delivered that line and itwas excellent and I
SPEAKER_04 (13:21):
feel like that's how
I am with you sometimes when I'm
really excited like even likethe girl she's like did you hear
that her name was Mook I feellike that's something I would
say to you like some irrelevantlike detail I think though With
those two, I think she's cooked.
Because she said, she's like,I'm going to get you to have
fun.
I don't know what she said.
Something on this vacation, evenif it kills me.
I'm like, oh, well, she's toast.
SPEAKER_00 (13:42):
If they're abiding
by traditional foreshadowing
storytelling archetypes, thenyeah, she's done for.
By saying that line, you cannever say, even if it kills me.
SPEAKER_04 (13:54):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (13:55):
Because that's it.
SPEAKER_04 (13:56):
Well, and then she
is, because he's just so cranky
and grumpy the whole time.
She decides to go to the bar.
She meets this woman who, by theway, I looked her up.
She's not in season two.
I thought she might have beenone of the girls from season
two.
I couldn't remember.
According to IMDb, she's not.
But she meets this model, supposedly, at the bar.
And she's like, yeah, myboyfriend is annoying me too.
(14:17):
He's that bald guy over there.
Now, I have been so fixated.
on Jennifer Coolidge not beingon this season that I forgot.
Uncle Rico slipped my brain.
I really need to go back becausefor some reason I thought he
died.
I guess he didn't.
No,
SPEAKER_00 (14:32):
he got away.
SPEAKER_04 (14:33):
She did, obviously.
Help these gays.
What'd she say?
SPEAKER_00 (14:39):
They're trying to
kill me.
SPEAKER_04 (14:39):
So...
the camera pans just to him.
We don't see him talking.
He has no lines.
I screamed so loud that I scaredMarvin off the couch, our dog.
And were you expecting to seehim right off the bat?
He wasn't on my radar at that.
SPEAKER_00 (14:55):
Yeah, it's not.
It's as I thought about it, Iwas like, oh, I should not have
been surprised to see him showup there.
But at that moment, it was justlike it was the first season.
We're trying to get youestablished with the characters.
It was kind of a really, Ithink, exciting and bold choice
to just put him there right atthe beginning.
We may not see him for two orthree episodes now, but we'll
(15:17):
know he's lurking aroundsomewhere.
I actually think it would bereally funny if that was it.
He had nothing to do with theseason, but he was just there.
Oh, that would make me mad.
He was on
SPEAKER_04 (15:27):
the phone talking to
some people,
SPEAKER_00 (15:29):
and he seemed pretty
annoying.
I never thought that with theway this show works, the
through-line character I don'tremember.
SPEAKER_04 (16:01):
All right, so the
friend group of the ladies, I
feel like they all secretly hateeach other.
Yes.
The one that's kind of the star, the low-key, the D-list
celebrity one, I feel like she'soverly trying to be nice, and
they're all like, do you likeyour room?
And then the one, I think shemust be the single one that went
up and cried because she saw theother two and presumed they were
(16:24):
talking about her.
These women are a mess.
They're a mess.
SPEAKER_00 (16:28):
I don't think she
hates...
I think the other two hate eachother.
The ones that are super nice toeach other all the time.
I think they hate each other.
I think the other one is jealousof the lives that they're
living.
SPEAKER_04 (16:41):
Who knows?
The only time we saw her reallyexcited was all the monkeys
outside the room.
That would be weird to go andsee, like, to open up your room
and just see, like, monkeyschilling and hanging out.
Monkeys are different than, like, I'm not saying birds
aren't smart, but, like, monkeyscan, like, stare into your soul.
They follow you.
And I'm like, and I feel likethey've made, the show's made an
(17:02):
attempt
SPEAKER_00 (17:03):
to show the monkeys.
They put a lot of attention andB-roll and stuff on the monkeys.
So I have this sneakingsuspicion they're going to play
into something or at least at aminimum it's like some sort of
allegory that they're trying togo for
SPEAKER_04 (17:16):
I almost want to
watch the premiere again to see
if we can get a better look atthe body in the water because
before they did the one weekearlier oh
SPEAKER_00 (17:23):
yeah
SPEAKER_04 (17:24):
we see the body in
the water
SPEAKER_00 (17:27):
you know the thing
is though the gunshots that went
off early in that episode therewas lots of them it wasn't like
it was bam bam and over with soit could be just nobody we know
because it seems like there'slike a major event taking place
SPEAKER_04 (17:42):
I guess so.
I don't know.
I don't know where they're goingto go with it.
I'm sure they're going toconnect it, make it zany, make
it wacky, and I'm excited forit, even though they changed the
theme song.
I'm looking forward to it.
I'm still a season one purist.
I think I've said it before.
I still enjoyed season two, butseason one was just the perfect
(18:02):
show for me.
Yeah,
SPEAKER_01 (18:05):
season one was very
good.
I
SPEAKER_04 (18:06):
liked season two,
but season one was better, in my
opinion.
SPEAKER_00 (18:10):
We'll have to wait
and see.
How this one finds us.
SPEAKER_04 (18:14):
Our conversations
continued in episode 96 with
That is Rapunzel! You know whatelse I'm worried about?
Those creepy freaking kids onThe White Lotus.
So we are caught up with TheWhite Lotus, watched episodes
two and three.
For those who are watching TheWhite Lotus season three, it's
only an eight episode season, sadly, and it's just getting
(18:37):
weirder and weirder.
But my Walton Goggins love isgetting stronger and stronger.
I cannot explain it, why I'mattracted to this man.
But if you know, you know, Iguess, ladies or gentlemen.
So what do you think, WhiteLotus?
SPEAKER_00 (18:50):
It is exactly what I
want out of the White Lotus.
It's disconcerting.
It's creepy.
It's weird.
It's always giving you mysteryand weirdness.
SPEAKER_04 (18:57):
I'm starting to warm
up to the new theme song.
SPEAKER_00 (19:00):
Yeah, I think the
new theme song is great.
I still miss the old one.
I miss the old one, yes.
Now I'm starting to dance.
But when the beat kicks in onthe new theme song, I'm sitting
here shaking because I thinkit's good.
I think it's a no-skip, in myopinion.
Yeah.
And like I said, I've not ever, none of the seasons of this show
(19:21):
have I ever known what's goingon.
And I love it.
And I've always been fine withit.
And I'm right there for the ridehere.
I don't know what's going on.
I don't know what WaltonGoggins' character is up to.
I don't know what's going tohappen with those three ladies
that hate each other.
Three blunts.
This weird North Carolinafamily.
I can't stand them.
SPEAKER_04 (19:39):
Lucious Malfoy.
UNKNOWN (19:40):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (19:40):
Yeah, and then we
got Greg wandering around.
We
SPEAKER_04 (19:44):
flew over to North
Pole.
SPEAKER_00 (19:44):
And they're going to
get on his boat next episode.
Yeah, but he's
SPEAKER_04 (19:46):
going by Gary.
SPEAKER_00 (19:47):
Going by Gary.
The masseuse from the firstseason recognized him.
Belinda recognized him.
Oh, it's excellent.
SPEAKER_04 (19:55):
I feel like this is
an example where they let the
show creator, Mike White, justdo what he wants.
SPEAKER_01 (19:59):
Yes.
SPEAKER_04 (20:00):
There were some
uncomfortable conversations
between the three girls.
I love that they've all talkedabout the other girl with each
other at one point.
So catty.
They had a very uncomfortableconversation about political
matters that I feel like we'veall had in our real lives at
some point, which I think it'skind of struck a chord with
people.
I love that this show makespeople feel uncomfortable.
(20:22):
My favorite character isChelsea, the girl that's dating
Rick, Walton Goggins' character.
SPEAKER_00 (20:27):
Yeah, she's great.
She's great.
SPEAKER_04 (20:29):
The actress is
amusing.
I love her in interviews, so Ilove the actress now.
She's a perfect character.
I am a fellow Aries.
She's like, I'm an Aries.
We have to talk a lot.
And I'm like, yes.
So it's just every...
I want her to survive, but I'mworried.
So in the most recent episode,he's like...
Because he has some plans.
He's...
I don't know what Rick's up to.
SPEAKER_00 (20:50):
He has business with
the male owner of the hotel, who
we haven't met yet.
Yes, who we haven't met yet.
We've met his wife.
I know he's in Bangkok.
And he's in Bangkok.
His wife's getting ready to gosee him in Bangkok.
And Rick's found out he's there,so he's going to go find him.
But then he's been talking tothe therapist, and she's been
getting into his head.
So he goes into town to buy someweed.
SPEAKER_04 (21:10):
And they go to a
snake show.
SPEAKER_00 (21:11):
And he decides to
ignore talking to his girlfriend
by going to the snake show.
Hi.
SPEAKER_04 (21:16):
The snake show
reminded me of those little
roads stop like gator shows thatthey do in like florida that
don't seem very safe and so hedecides he's getting upset
watching the cobras he's justgonna go release all the
venomous snakes and then i'mlike well that's gonna be scary
so enter chelsea and i i wasn'texcited i thought she was gonna
scream about the snakes boom biton the leg and they're like we
(21:38):
have to take her to the hospitalso she doesn't die so then you
skip forward and chelsea'ssitting at the table with the
bandage on and she's like ialmost died twice like what
SPEAKER_00 (21:49):
I don't know.
I think she's going to make itnow.
We were worried after the firstepisode with the foreshadowing.
SPEAKER_04 (21:54):
Yeah.
I love her, though.
SPEAKER_00 (21:55):
But I think she's
going to make it.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (21:57):
So she's my favorite
character.
My least favorite character isPatrick Schwarzenegger's
character, Saxon.
He's awful.
He's so creepy and weird.
SPEAKER_00 (22:05):
But, I mean, props
to the actor because he is
making that character awful onpurpose.
SPEAKER_04 (22:10):
All the kids creep
me out for different reasons.
It's just the vibes aren'tthere.
I'm going to say if anythingGreg slash Gary is good for,
they're all supposed to go outon his boat, is maybe he'll kill
Saxon.
So a lot of people, I guess, thought that this might be a
prequel to the other seasons.
And then we're like, I neverthought that.
But everybody thought thatmaybe.
But as soon as Belindarecognized Greg, they were like,
(22:32):
oh,
SPEAKER_01 (22:32):
it's not a prequel.
I never had that theory.
No, I never thought that.
SPEAKER_04 (22:34):
Not once.
We also talked about LuiziusMalfoy's southern accent, I
think, on the first episode.
Yes.
And I think we owe an apology.
We didn't realize that he wastrying to do that rich North
Carolina type of southern
SPEAKER_00 (22:47):
accent.
It sounded so odd to me when Ifirst heard it.
it and I just marked it up toBritish actor trying to do a
southern accent
SPEAKER_04 (22:53):
because we hear
Appalachian around
SPEAKER_00 (22:55):
yeah and so then we
saw an interview with him where
he was talking about how he wastrying to do a very specific
North Carolina accent from somepeople that he has seen and some
he even watched like somespecific reality TV and like
yeah I can see it now he's notslipping he's doing something on
purpose and and it's just anaccent that even here in America
(23:16):
even here in the Americansoutheast
SPEAKER_04 (23:18):
yeah
SPEAKER_00 (23:18):
we're not really
familiar you're with
SPEAKER_04 (23:20):
and I've seen people
that are from that Raleigh area
say he's doing it he's nailingit
SPEAKER_00 (23:23):
well hey listen if
he's doing the accent from that
part of the world and they sayhe's doing great who am I to
judge
SPEAKER_04 (23:30):
and I think his
character so he's in some legal
trouble and he finally decidesto take some of his wife's meds
I think this is what I wasthinking about I was thinking
about this while I was in theshower actually I think that
he's gonna get himself so dopedup but then he's gonna end up
taking a lot more of her medsand she's gonna run out of meds
and it's gonna be a problem
SPEAKER_00 (23:47):
if I had to If I had
to put money on a character
dying this season, it's him.
Because they've always shown usthat he relieves stress by just
going
SPEAKER_04 (23:58):
whole
SPEAKER_00 (23:59):
ham on the
treadmill, right?
And he always seems kind of insome sort of physical
discomfort.
And now he's taking pills.
And he's got all the stress ofthis legal situation in front of
him.
Timothy.
The analogy of the tsunami.
Yeah, he just stood there.
Yeah, I think he might be theone that gets it.
SPEAKER_04 (24:20):
And then Mook, one
of the girls that works
SPEAKER_00 (24:23):
at the hotel.
She's bad.
She's totally bad.
She's bad.
I
SPEAKER_04 (24:26):
think she set up the
robbery, and I think she's
playing the one guy.
SPEAKER_00 (24:29):
She helped.
SPEAKER_04 (24:30):
All right, so that's
it on White Lotus.
Can't wait for more.
We
SPEAKER_00 (24:34):
were running on
little to no sleep in episode
97, Spring Forward.
But yeah, so we have watched alittle bit of TV.
We have.
And now we're going to talkabout it.
SPEAKER_04 (24:46):
Talk about it.
Okay, let's kick things off withThe White Lotus.
We watched, was it episode four?
SPEAKER_01 (24:54):
Yes.
SPEAKER_04 (24:55):
Episode four.
I feel like all I do is wait.
on like I'm like that AnthonyHopkins like standing there mean
like I'm just like waiting allday on Sunday really Saturday
for the White Lotus it used 9p.m.
Showtime used to not bother mein my youth like I know that's
what time Game of Thrones cameon and I really felt like even
with the time change like I wasjust come on let's go let's go
(25:17):
let's go because I'm excited forthe show but I was also tired
already on Sunday and I justlike all I did was wait but you
know what it was worth the waitbecause what a great episode
possibly the best episode of theseason so far what do you think
SPEAKER_00 (25:28):
it was really good I
I do want to make an amendment.
The theme song, Bangs.
We love it now.
It's excellent.
They haven't changed it, but itfeels like they changed it.
It's very good.
We're into it now.
SPEAKER_04 (25:40):
We're dancing
around.
I have to tip my cap there aswell and say that we were so
upset about it, but now itworks.
It works for the vibe of thisseason, but we're still getting
the little...
remnants of the og theme songwith certain scenes of like
SPEAKER_00 (25:55):
yeah they're they're
bringing it in a little bit more
they're weaving it in yeah uhthis was a tension builder of an
episode and um
SPEAKER_03 (26:06):
piper no tsunami
buddhism
SPEAKER_00 (26:13):
are you quite done
SPEAKER_04 (26:14):
you know what i
could hear Parker Posey used her
White Lotus accent to read methe phone book because I live
for Victoria Ratliff.
But you know what I don't love?
Even though I love that there'sa Harry Potter person in here, I
wasn't expecting...
SPEAKER_00 (26:31):
To see his wand?
Lucius Malfoy hanging dong?
SPEAKER_04 (26:37):
Why don't you use
that phrase?
SPEAKER_00 (26:39):
Why not?
It's what they did.
SPEAKER_04 (26:42):
I knew, and you know
what I thought about it?
SPEAKER_00 (26:44):
Fool! Frontal male
nudity.
SPEAKER_04 (26:47):
I was thinking about
it before it happened, and not
because I wanted to see Malfoy's
SPEAKER_00 (26:51):
wand.
You were thinking
SPEAKER_04 (26:53):
about it?
But I was thinking about it.
But when he comes out in thatrobe, and it was very
loosey-goosey, and just knowingthe show, I was like, that
robe's going to fly open, isn'tit?
And then it was still like, ah!There was like, wands up!
Literally, put your wand up,Malfoy.
SPEAKER_00 (27:12):
Because he's popping
the
SPEAKER_04 (27:13):
pills.
Yeah, so he He's been takingVictoria, his wife's Lorazepam
and who knows what else for alittle mini walking pharmacy.
And I wondered last week, I waslike, I wonder if she's going to
notice because she gave him thefirst one, but he starts taking
it.
I was like, she's going to startto freak out if like he uses up
(27:34):
her supply or she knows thatit's missing.
And I think we're going to startto see that unraveling because
he full blown when they were, sothey went to that boat party on
Greg slash Gary's boat.
And the scene, she's like, wherecan I put my purse?
This would be like me at aparty.
It would be you.
she's just like oh MissCongeniality and she like stuck
(27:57):
it behind that pillow and yousaw her do that so he goes over
and he like swiped the wholelike bottle so she's thinking
anybody on this boat you knowjust because they're rich
doesn't mean they're not trashypeople
SPEAKER_00 (28:09):
that's correct
SPEAKER_04 (28:10):
um
SPEAKER_00 (28:11):
Yeah, most of the
episode was the boat party.
So except for the three women, the whole main cast ends up on
the boat.
SPEAKER_04 (28:19):
Yeah, we'll get to
the three women in a minute.
But we have everybody on theboat because we have Rick,
Walter, Walton.
I always want to say Walter.
Walton Goggins character andChelsea.
They're on the boats.
Belinda's not on the boat, butwe do.
She does.
SPEAKER_00 (28:35):
She puts it
together.
Figure it out
SPEAKER_04 (28:36):
about Greg slash
SPEAKER_00 (28:37):
Gary.
That's going to end poorly, Ithink.
SPEAKER_04 (28:40):
I think so, too.
So, like, the main kind of,like, group, we have them on the
boat, like the Ratliff family.
It's...
It was just– it was a good– likeall the scenes.
So we've got Timothy, a.k.a.
Malfoy, getting just smashed onall the pills, trying to avoid
life.
We have– we finally know whatPiper, the daughter, we kind of
(29:01):
figured this, that now her goalis she just wants– she doesn't
want to become like a monk, butshe wants to like study there,
right?
And like do a meditation there.
horse or like something
SPEAKER_00 (29:11):
yeah but I think
like she had rused them into
coming here by suggesting thatshe was writing a dissertation
on it thesis which yeah which isnot the case like she's just I
always knew she was lying aboutthat I don't know if it's just
she's trying to escape whateverworld she's in back home or what
the situation is there
SPEAKER_04 (29:28):
maybe her weirdo
family but bad news for her is I
think that Timothy I think thathe is because he was asking Gary
Greg yeah about like how heended up in Thailand and I'm
thinking he might like end upwanting to stay because he's in
all that trouble with the lawlike obviously we know he
embezzled money and stuffbecause at one point when they
(29:48):
get off the boat he asks for hisphone back and I think some of
the pills had worn off a littlebit so he gets on the phone and
he's like I'm not going toprison and all this stuff and
you see him like you pointed outseveral times he's clutching
SPEAKER_00 (30:00):
his chest which I
think you know I think I think I
think maybe they're trying toshow anxiety but I think you
could also I'm interpreting Ithink he's going to have some
sort of cardiac event before theseason is over.
And he also did one other thing.
Since we're there, we're alreadyat the end of the episode, but
the last thing we see in theepisode, so the security guard
(30:21):
guy is in trouble for not beinga very good security guard guy.
Once again,
SPEAKER_04 (30:25):
he's distracted by
Mook.
She's not going to ever go outwith you, my dude.
SPEAKER_00 (30:29):
He's not a good
security guy.
No, very bad at his job.
He's looking at this gun thathis boss gave him and said, hey,
go to the gun range tonight andlearn how to use this thing.
And Mook comes by and distractshim, so he sits the gun down and
walks off about it and then whenhe comes back it is gone and the
only person that we can theyhave pointed us in the direction
that timothy took it
SPEAKER_03 (30:48):
yeah
SPEAKER_00 (30:49):
now they haven't
they've left the door open for
that not to be the case
SPEAKER_04 (30:53):
like what a malfoy
would do
SPEAKER_00 (30:55):
but i'm getting the
impression that that he took it
and he's planning to just shoothimself at some point
SPEAKER_04 (31:02):
I don't know.
I have no idea what's going on,but I'm excited for that.
So then we've got, not himshooting himself.
SPEAKER_00 (31:08):
Excited for good
old-fashioned American gun
violence.
SPEAKER_04 (31:11):
No, I just meant I'm
excited to see where his
storyline goes.
So before we get to Chelsea andRick, let's talk about creepy
Saxton, the brother.
Cannot stand him, but he's onceagain with his stupid blender.
I read, there was this I readit.
I remember hearing it, but thenI read about it.
They said that there ispoisonous fruit on the island.
Somebody's going to putpoisonous fruit in that blender,
(31:32):
and someone's going to die orget poisoned.
I don't think we're going to beso fortunate that it's going to
be Saxon.
I think it might be the littlebrother.
Yeah.
Lachlan or something.
I don't know if it's going to bea death, but I think it
certainly will be ahospitalization situation.
So those just– the whole creepyvibes.
And then somebody also said–Could his brother end up losing
his scholarship to Duke or UNCif those pictures come out of
(31:55):
him drinking on the boat?
Maybe.
I don't know.
Because he's only like 18.
SPEAKER_00 (31:59):
Thing is, we don't
ever get to see what happens to
people after they leave theresort.
Yeah.
So we won't know that becausewe're not going to hear about
that.
SPEAKER_04 (32:09):
And now Piper's mad
at him because she wanted him to
have her back.
SPEAKER_00 (32:13):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (32:13):
The kids are acting
less like flowers in the attic-y
lately, but they're still creepythe The whole family's creepy.
But I just want to hear Victoriatalk.
And she hated Victoria.
No one hated the boat more thanVictoria.
She gets off and, like, Saxtonand Lachlan are like, well,
we're going to go on this, like, party, which I think will be the
theme of the next episode, likethe Moonlight Ride or something.
And she's like, ew, why?
(32:34):
Basically.
And then also when she wastrying to talk to people and be
social in the boat.
Yeah.
Did you catch where she's like,my cousin met somebody on
internet dating.
He turned out to be decent orsomething.
SPEAKER_01 (32:49):
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (32:50):
It just, like all
her facial expressions, like
Parker Posey is just perfect forthat role.
SPEAKER_00 (32:57):
Yeah, she's killing
SPEAKER_04 (32:59):
it.
So the creepy Ratliff familyaside, my favorite character is
not even Walton Goggins, Rick.
It's actually Chelsea.
Protect my fellow Aries at allcosts.
This is like the last time.
Should I buy this?
It's like something I would sayto you.
Oh, you have to talk.
I'm an Aries.
They're nailing the way Ariesare.
And I just love her.
And I'm so worried for her thatshe's going to die and be one of
(33:22):
the ones that won't make it out.
Because I feel like she's such afan favorite all around right
now.
Like, she's making the show for
SPEAKER_00 (33:29):
me.
Sure, absolutely, yes.
Rick finally came clean on whyhe wants to go to Bangkok and
talk to the owner of this hotelbecause he was told by his
mother that the owner of thishotel killed his father.
And he's just taking thatverbatim.
He said it
SPEAKER_04 (33:47):
was like a deathbed
thing.
SPEAKER_00 (33:49):
Yeah, but it's still
like a situation of like,
SPEAKER_04 (33:51):
is this really what
happened?
It's clearly messed with him hisentire life and led him to this
point.
But I do think he does care forChelsea because he did tell her
what was going on.
And you know what was reallyweird about their whole little
scene even before they got onthe boat?
I was actually about to say thisto Daniel and be like, hey,
pause this.
He loves when I do that in showsbecause I had a thought.
(34:11):
But then she said my thoughtbecause I was like, oh, I was
like, she got held up at therobbery And then she got bit by
the snake.
And I was like, you know, badthings come in threes.
And she says it! And I was like, that's my fellow Ares.
Bringing that Ares fire rightthere.
So do we think Chelsea's goingto make it out of the season
okay?
SPEAKER_00 (34:29):
I don't know.
I hope so.
But by the end of the episode,Rick is off to Bangkok.
Yeah, and
SPEAKER_04 (34:35):
Chelsea's going
SPEAKER_00 (34:35):
to go on the boat
party.
Yeah, she's going on the boatwith the boat party.
It's unclear still, and I thinkit's unclear to Rick, if his
intent is to...
what his intent is to do when heconfronts this guy.
I don't
SPEAKER_04 (34:48):
think he's very
stable, so...
No.
Yeah.
Now, speaking about people beinghot when their life is falling
apart, I thought that he peakedwith the ghoul in Fallout, but I
am loving his White Lotuscharacter flaws in all aspects.
But you know who I don't like?
Greg slash Gary.
Belinda, like we said, clockedthat.
(35:09):
She was, and I don't like, Iagree with you, it's not going
to end well for her.
She actually, we saw herGoogling.
Yeah.
Jennifer Coolidge's character,Tanya McQuaid, I think.
And all this information poppedup.
So something, if I'm Belinda, this is what I do.
I file a police report when Iget home and be like, hey, this
guy was spotted in Thailand.
This is what's going on.
(35:30):
This is where I last saw him.
But you know, she's going to notdo that.
Correct.
She'll probably go to the losersecurity guard that's too
distracted by Mook, who's nevergoing to go out with him.
And I'm still on team of MookShady.
What about you?
Oh,
SPEAKER_00 (35:43):
I think so.
I think she is.
I think she is just being used.
She is using the security guard.
She is distracting him onpurpose to let people in.
See, I
SPEAKER_04 (35:53):
think she is dating
the young guy that's like the
massage therapist guy.
I think they're together.
I really do.
And he, now we can talk aboutthe three ladies.
I don't like them calling oldladies, even though they're a
joke.
They're not, like, I heardsomebody, I'm like, people just
have no idea how old millennialsare.
They either think we're still 17or they think we're, like,
(36:14):
almost 50.
Like, these women are atleast...
I think maybe in real life, Iknow they're much older than I
am, but like on the show, Ithink they're probably like mid
40s, early 50s would be maybethey're playing younger, but
they're not like eldermillennials.
They're a little bit older thanthat.
And they're not senior citizensthough.
(36:35):
And so they like, I think he'sdoing kind of what Armand did in
season one.
Just, you know how Armand wouldlike mess with what's his face.
He wanted the different suiteevery time.
It's like, you should go on thisromantic cruise, but then it's
where Tanya wanted to like, puther mother's ashes in the water
or whatever.
I think he was kind of messingwith them.
They're like, we want to havefun.
We want to have fun and dosomething fun.
So he sends them to like thisnormal hotel where it seemed to
(36:58):
be all elderly people.
SPEAKER_01 (36:59):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (37:01):
And I think the
other two, Kate and the other
girl with blonde hair, they'reall blondes, were like laughing
about it.
But Jacqueline, that's theactress girl.
You could tell it got in herhead because this whole thing
started where Jacqueline wastrying to talk to her boyfriend
about or partner or whateverhe's not he's not picking up she
needs that she needs thatattention that buzz that you
(37:24):
know kind of like because shelit up when somebody recognized
her when they went there untilshe realized it was old they
were all older people and thenshe was offended so then they go
back and they're like wellyou're gonna come party with us
we want to do somethingauthentic so then he takes them
to something like an authenticevent where they have like water
guns
SPEAKER_00 (37:42):
well he dropped them
off in the middle of town where
there's some holiday going onand that's a and basically the
holiday is everybody has a watergun and they're shooting each
other with it
SPEAKER_04 (37:49):
and my question to
them is they were already in
bathing suits like i would havegrabbed a water gun and just had
fun with it and participatedwhat about you yeah
SPEAKER_01 (37:57):
they freaked out
yeah they did not like
SPEAKER_04 (37:59):
all of them and like
so then they finally meet up
with him later and At a club.
And I think the two guys at theclub with him were involved in
the robbery.
That's my theory.
I
SPEAKER_00 (38:09):
could see that.
SPEAKER_04 (38:09):
And I think maybe
he's setting them up and that he
and the other guys are going torob them or do something.
What do you think?
SPEAKER_00 (38:18):
I think that's
possible for sure.
Because so far, those three kindof are disconnected from the
rest of the main characters ofthe show.
And so they're going to have torope in eventually at some
point.
At some level.
Yeah.
But it's unclear right now howthey connect.
But that might be theconnection.
SPEAKER_04 (38:35):
Possibly.
And here's another example ofhow people don't know age.
So I'm on Reddit reading aboutWhite Lotus.
And there's some wild theoriesthere.
But someone's like, guys, whatif Greg is actually the guy that
shot Rick's father?
And I'm like, they're notlike...
The age difference would not...
I'm sure that Greg is older thanhim, but not by a 10.
(38:59):
Yeah.
And I'm like, you guys just seelike a balding man and think,
old.
Like they're all the same age.
I was just...
I don't know.
I don't know.
(39:24):
Have you gotten into
SPEAKER_00 (39:26):
any of these?
No, I'm not.
I'm not on White Lotus TikTokfor some reason.
Like, it never comes to me.
That's
SPEAKER_04 (39:32):
interesting because
I've sent you like five.
SPEAKER_00 (39:34):
Well, I guess I'm
not
SPEAKER_04 (39:35):
watching them.
Tsunami.
And then came episode 98 withMarch Madness Crash Out.
WVU should have been in the NCAAtournament.
They got absolutely robbed.
All right.
So speaking of HBO, The WhiteLotus, this was episode five,
(39:59):
season three, episode five.
SPEAKER_00 (40:00):
Yeah.
I mean, it's just at this point,it's Sunday night, Walton
Goggins hour, two hours, becausethese shows are both, we're
going to talk about two showsthat are now coming on in the
same.
I'm just in my Walton Gogginsera.
Yeah.
Like I
SPEAKER_04 (40:14):
just want to consume
all media that he is in.
I want to see him in everything.
Yeah.
I just love him.
Go outside, nerd.
SPEAKER_00 (40:21):
But we talked about
this.
So this is White Lotus, seasonthree, episode five.
We talked about this off air alittle bit.
Yes.
This, Mike White, the creator ofthis show.
Genius.
Made the most uncomfortable hourof episode of television I have
ever seen in my entire life.
SPEAKER_04 (40:39):
I was exactly, yeah.
It was the most, as you said, uncomfortable episode.
unrelaxed episode but yet icouldn't look away because it's
such a great show i was justuneasy on edge the entire time
so it picked really reallypicked right up from where last
week left off and we have someof the crew going on the
(41:00):
moonlight boat party we've gotrick going off to i guess avenge
his father we've got belinda shefigured out greg slash gary's
secret and then we've got thethree kind of like middle-aged
ladies trying to live it up andrecapture their youth and then
we've got let's just go aheadand start with him because he's
(41:20):
the worst one okay the world'sworst security guard i have ever
seen he had the gun in the lastweek um timothy aka malfoy took
it And we all know this.
Even the security guard dudeknows it.
So he goes back, and he looks atthe footage.
He sees the dude take it.
So we're like, dude, you're thesecurity guard.
(41:41):
And he just barely approacheshim at dinner or whatever.
SPEAKER_00 (41:45):
He waits through the
whole dinner until Tim gets up
to go to the bathroom.
SPEAKER_04 (41:48):
Come
SPEAKER_00 (41:49):
on.
He follows him to the bathroom.
He walks in the door.
And instead of walking up andbasically
SPEAKER_04 (41:53):
patting him
SPEAKER_00 (41:54):
down and being like,
I'm security, he's just like, I
think you have something I want.
And Tim's just like, I don'tknow what you're talking about,
and walks off.
And it's just like, and he'sThat's it.
SPEAKER_04 (42:03):
Like, you're not
going to get with Mook.
You are terrible at your job.
You should just go work for theNCAA selection committee, it
being that awful at your job.
Go away.
So moving on with him, wefinally have the truth revealed
about Piper.
No.
So Piper sits down with Mommyand Daddy and says, you know
(42:26):
what?
I want to stay here.
There is no thesis.
I want to go live in thismonastery for only a year.
But you're not.
a Buddhist.
You want to live in Taiwan?
That's what she said.
She did not say
SPEAKER_00 (42:39):
Thailand.
I didn't catch that part.
I didn't realize that she saidthe wrong country.
SPEAKER_04 (42:44):
Well, it's really
safe.
The guy that runs it wrote abook.
Charles Manson wrote a book.
Bill Clinton wrote a book.
Hillary Clinton wrote fivebooks.
Somebody give Parker Poser herEmmy.
SPEAKER_00 (42:58):
Am I right?
She's really doing a great job.
SPEAKER_04 (43:00):
I'm out of
lorazepam, so I'm going to have
to drink myself to sleep.
SPEAKER_00 (43:03):
Meanwhile, Tim's
just completely checked out.
SPEAKER_04 (43:06):
Barely even
SPEAKER_00 (43:07):
listening.
Barely listening because he'scontemplating, you know, using
the gun that he just stole fromthe security office on himself
later in the episode.
Which is
SPEAKER_04 (43:17):
not great.
SPEAKER_00 (43:19):
No.
SPEAKER_04 (43:20):
And just really
doing it.
He would have done it, it lookedlike, until Victoria, that's her
name, Victoria Ratliff, ParkerPosey's character, like walked
in like Timothy.
SPEAKER_03 (43:29):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (43:30):
So, okay, so they're
the sane members of the family,
if you can believe that.
And then we have, let's go aheadand address the elephant in the
room.
We got the brothers, the flowersin the attic vibes.
They are back.
SPEAKER_00 (43:44):
I don't like
SPEAKER_04 (43:44):
it.
And I don't like it.
I hate it.
So they're with Gary slashGreg's girlfriend, wife,
whatever she is, paid wife.
lover, I don't know, and ourwonderful, my beautiful fellow
Aries, Miss Chelsea, and And wethink that the boys are going to
hook up with the girls.
(44:04):
Saxon's going to try to get withChelsea, and I don't think
Chelsea's going to buy it, eventhough she's kind of mad because
Rick didn't answer the phone.
I think she's just kind of thereto try to party.
I hope she doesn't touch himwith a 10-foot pole.
And then the other girl's like,I really love it doing younger
men or something, which is veryuncomfortable.
SPEAKER_00 (44:25):
Again, that was the
episode, was being
uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_04 (44:27):
That wasn't really
the most uncomfortable part.
The part that we've all...
So they are all partying andthey took some pills.
Although the internet being assavvy as it is, do you think
that Locke...
Lachlan, whatever,
SPEAKER_00 (44:43):
took the pill.
I didn't rewatch the clip yet
SPEAKER_04 (44:45):
to see.
I noticed the scene they'retalking about.
I thought he was just spittingout part of a drink, but now
people have zoomed in on it, asthe internet does.
So I don't know if the actor wasjust acting like you're
stumbling around being drunk orif it was intentional and maybe
he was spitting out the drug.
But Saxon wasn't going to takethe drug until they basically
convinced him to.
And then they're like, you guysshould kiss.
And I'm like, Daniel, would youkiss your siblings?
UNKNOWN (45:09):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (45:10):
I would not.
SPEAKER_04 (45:10):
Absolutely.
Not even for like a milliondollars.
No, that's weird.
That's dumb.
That's odd.
Odd behavior.
Beyond odd.
And they're just like, okay.
So they kind of peck.
And then the little one,Lachlan, just goes in for a
bigger smooch.
And I feel like Saxon's on drugsat this point.
But you could see in his faceand body language to me that he
(45:31):
was just kind of like, allright.
SPEAKER_01 (45:33):
No, he's not happy
about it.
Is
SPEAKER_04 (45:34):
that how you read
the room?
So all this time, I still hateSaxon.
Correct.
Like, they're not her.
Like, Victoria, I feel like, hates Piper and thinks her boys
are perfect.
Guess what, honey?
They're not.
But now I'm really thinking thatmaybe Saxon is just your typical
frat boy, douche-type behavior,like, meathead.
And I'm thinking that Lachlan isthe one that might have some
(45:56):
issues.
And the power dynamics, I think, have switched now.
He went in for the second kiss.
It was very weird.
How do we think– what's going tocome about of that?
Like, I'm– I just– ah! Ha ha ha!
SPEAKER_00 (46:12):
I don't know.
I think awkward nextconversation in the next
episode.
Cause we didn't really see likea lot of the other characters
for this episode.
We kind of got to see notnecessarily a full wrap up, but
a little bit, but that afterthat moment, that was the last
we saw of those characters onthe boat.
SPEAKER_04 (46:27):
Chelsea's face in
that scene when they were
kissing was everyone's face.
You see, she was like this, like,
SPEAKER_00 (46:33):
yeah,
SPEAKER_04 (46:33):
like you guys can't
see it, but I just made a face
at Daniel.
I feel like Lachlan too.
Like clearly I think thecharacter is struggling with a
sexuality that doesn't mean gomake out with your brother what
are you doing ah so i i don'tknow and i'm uncomfortable the
whole situation gives me majorick did your opinion my opinion
(46:54):
on saxon being a jerk did notchange but my opinion on who's
the creepiest one in the familydid
SPEAKER_00 (47:00):
Yeah, yeah.
Like, I still don't like Saxton, but he seems to be not as
nefarious as he came off.
Not to say nefarious, because, like, again, the other one's
just a kid who's trying tofigure himself out.
Kissing your brother ain't theway to do it, buddy.
Yeah, kissing your brother isnot necessarily the way to do
it.
SPEAKER_04 (47:19):
Just know.
But who knows what Mike White'sgoing to have in store next
week.
I can tell you one thing, MikeWhite absolutely nailed female
friendship dynamics the wholetime.
Okay, so we've got Jacqueline.
We've got, I think, Katie, theone with the short hair.
And I forget what the otherone's name, the other blonde.
They're all blondes.
(47:40):
So they're out partying with theguys, one of the guys that works
at the hotel.
And all the week, Jacqueline'sbeen trying to encourage the
other one to hook up with himbecause she's the single one.
And we all know the reason whyshe wanted to go out and party
was she wanted attention.
She wanted to feel special.
Whoever her partner is isn'tanswering her calls.
Looks like he's ghosting her.
And all this time, I've beenwaiting.
(48:00):
I was like, she's going to hookup with him first to get the
power back and to feel special.
And lo and behold, she did itand the whole scene at the
nightclub was executed perfectlyfrom Jacqueline looking around
to see if other women werelooking and then her getting
that devilish smile that she wasthe center of attention and
other women were supposedlyjealous of her Absolutely
perfection.
(48:21):
That entire scene made me neverwant to go to a club.
You never were into clubbing, were you?
SPEAKER_00 (48:28):
No, and every time I
see a club depicted in fiction,
it looks like my decision-makingabout not going to them was 100%
correct.
In my youth, I did enjoy theclub
SPEAKER_04 (48:39):
scene.
SPEAKER_00 (48:40):
People were there
being annoying.
I
SPEAKER_04 (48:42):
feel like I would
have been more Katie in this
episode.
They're like, are we going to gohome
SPEAKER_00 (48:45):
now?
It's dark.
It's like
SPEAKER_04 (48:48):
an Abercrombie
store.
SPEAKER_00 (48:50):
I don't want to be
in those.
SPEAKER_04 (48:51):
I know.
I know you don't.
So, yeah.
I just...
I don't know.
I will address something that Ihave seen some comments come up.
You know they had the politicaldiscourse conversation, and some
people were like, oh, it's justbias against one side.
I felt like the girl that– I'mnot going to put his name on the
(49:13):
podcast– the supporter of onepolitical figure that– very
controversial.
I feel like she came off themost likable of the friend
group.
SPEAKER_00 (49:24):
In this episode,
yes.
SPEAKER_04 (49:25):
She was the more
mature one that was like, okay,
can we just go to bed?
When they brought the drinksover, I was like, oh my gosh,
you didn't even see them get thedrinks from the bar.
Do not drink that.
She was like, I'm not drinkingthat.
SPEAKER_00 (49:36):
Especially
considering that she and one of
the other, of the three ladies, she and one of the other are
attached to partners.
SPEAKER_04 (49:45):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (49:46):
So there's only one
of them that is single.
The single one is not
SPEAKER_04 (49:49):
the one that hooked
up.
SPEAKER_00 (49:50):
That was Jacqueline.
It's like, what are we doinghere?
What end does this go to?
SPEAKER_04 (49:55):
Jacqueline wanted to
feel validated.
She wanted to feel superior andincluding superior to show her
friends that she's still the hotone.
She's the air girl.
She could get it.
And the whole time she waspumping the one friend up, like
every previous episode, I'vejust got this feeling.
You probably didn't even thinkanything of that because you
don't speak English.
SPEAKER_00 (50:13):
Mean girl.
I don't speak mean girl.
I
SPEAKER_04 (50:15):
was like, she's
going to absolutely.
SPEAKER_00 (50:17):
I'm going to wear
that one as a badge of honor.
SPEAKER_04 (50:20):
So now my theory
that he is dating Mook is out.
Or he still could be.
SPEAKER_00 (50:25):
See, I haven't
gotten any indication that there
is any connection between themyet.
And I feel like if the show wasgoing to do that, they would
have given us some sort of weirdhint somewhere along the line.
I don't even think we've seenthem in the same scene.
SPEAKER_04 (50:39):
I just thought
that...
I think they did.
He talked to the world's worstsecurity guard.
And I guess I was theorizingthat maybe if he and Mook
weren't dating, that they werein on it, the breaking together.
But now I'm just thinking thesecurity guard is just the
village idiot.
I don't know.
I don't know where Mike White'sgoing with this.
SPEAKER_00 (50:57):
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know.
Yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_04 (50:59):
I will say
definitely in that one scene
where one of the friends istalking to Kate and starts going
in about his family trauma.
I've had that happen to me fromPerfect Strangers in clubs and
bars and stuff before.
I'm in the bathroom at a bar andsome random lady comes up to me
and just starts spilling herguts to me.
And I'm like, it's okay,sweetie.
I've been there where you'relike, my cousin so-and-so died.
(51:22):
And you're just like, whoa.
Like, just...
Yeah, have you ever had just astranger just randomly and
you're just trying to like...
SPEAKER_00 (51:30):
Talk to me, yes, not
spill their guts.
They just talk to me about otherrandom stuff.
SPEAKER_04 (51:34):
Your interactions
with strangers, people always
assume because you're tall thatyou'll help get them something
off a shelf.
SPEAKER_00 (51:39):
Yeah, I'm the tall
guy that the ladies always ask,
hey, can you get this down forme?
And that one time at
SPEAKER_04 (51:45):
Walmart, you made
the mistake of wearing a blue
polo and khakis.
SPEAKER_00 (51:50):
Yeah.
That's when people thought Iworked there.
Actually, I'll be honest,like...
I have been approached atWalmart multiple times as if I
work there.
It's not just been one time.
SPEAKER_04 (52:02):
So that happens to
you and I get strangers to tell
me their life's tragedies inbathrooms and cry on my
shoulder.
SPEAKER_01 (52:08):
We're blessed.
SPEAKER_04 (52:10):
All right.
So speaking of tragedies,Belinda.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (52:34):
They want to keep
that stuff out of their resort.
They don't want their resort'sname involved in any of that
kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_04 (52:41):
I'm worried for
Belinda.
SPEAKER_00 (52:42):
I'm worried for
Belinda as well.
Although...
SPEAKER_04 (52:44):
She did hook up.
SPEAKER_00 (52:46):
Yeah.
Yeah, she did.
I don't know.
We are...
And, of course, Mike White, theproducer, creator of the show,
has done a perfect job ofbasically, like, starting the
season off with this, we allknow...
A shooting is going to go downin the resort.
And I think her
SPEAKER_04 (53:04):
son is showing up in
the preview
SPEAKER_00 (53:07):
next week.
And multiple times now, theyjust continue to show us
conflict.
Who could it be?
Because now we've got Timrunning around with a gun.
He hasn't used it on himself.
Therefore, he has one.
And I'm concocting in my mind, what if he ends up stopping the
shooter and becomes a hero?
SPEAKER_04 (53:23):
And then we have
Rick.
SPEAKER_00 (53:25):
And then we have
Rick, who's gotten a hold of a
gun in Bangkok.
And so we're assuming he's goingto be back from Bangkok by the
time the end of the show takesplace.
So he has a gun.
The security guard doesn't havea gun.
And so it's just...
They're building tension overthe course of the season.
(53:46):
And I think that a lot of peopleI've seen online who are
impatient...
They're missing the point, Ithink, of what's happening here.
I feel like he's building it
SPEAKER_04 (53:55):
beautifully.
I didn't dislike season two, butI feel like all the season two
fans are the ones that aren'tliking this one as much.
This is taking me back to seasonone, weaving the story
SPEAKER_02 (54:04):
in,
SPEAKER_04 (54:05):
and I'm just excited
what comes next.
I can't wait.
I think we have, is it threemore episodes?
SPEAKER_00 (54:13):
I think it is three,
yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (54:15):
Yeah, we've got
three more episodes.
And the next episode is entitledNiles, Episode 7, Killer
Instincts.
And there is not a title on thefinal episode.
But the description, accordingto IMDb, says, at a tropical
resort, this is for the finale,at a tropical resort, guests and
staff experience a full week ofadventurous secrets and
(54:36):
unexpected encounters that shapetheir lives forever.
So we have to also talk aboutRick.
SPEAKER_00 (54:44):
It feels like he did
the least in this episode, but
yet has the most memorablescene.
SPEAKER_04 (54:50):
What's that actor's
name?
SPEAKER_00 (54:51):
So he meets up with
Sam Rockwell who
SPEAKER_04 (54:55):
is married or dating
Leslie Bibb who plays Kate in
real life.
Do we think that they just toldMike White told Sam Rockwell
just here I want you to talkabout things like this but just
go for it and do this monologue.
SPEAKER_00 (55:08):
And then they didn't
tell Walton Goggins what he was
going to talk about?
SPEAKER_04 (55:12):
Or is Walton Goggins
just that amazing of an actor?
SPEAKER_00 (55:14):
I don't know.
I don't know.
I think it could be aninteresting way to go either
way.
But yeah, it was a...
SPEAKER_04 (55:18):
It was a very weird
conversation.
SPEAKER_00 (55:20):
A weird and graphic
conversation.
But I think it speaks to the...
SPEAKER_04 (55:26):
The
uncomfortableness and anxiety of
the
SPEAKER_00 (55:28):
episode?
Well, yes.
It matched the anxiety of theepisode.
But it also, like, Rick is goingthrough some stuff.
Yeah.
And he's...
to a certain extent, trying toignore it.
SPEAKER_04 (55:37):
His face is that we
listen, but we don't judge.
SPEAKER_00 (55:40):
But now he's met up
with this friend who he's had.
He got the gun.
Who he got the gun from.
And he even said, hey, I mightneed you tomorrow night for some
help, right?
So then we may see him again ifhe chooses to go forward with
whatever it is he's going to goforward with, which I'm not even
entirely sure he knows what he'sgoing to do.
Because he's trying to find theperson that killed his father.
(56:01):
Yeah.
So so that was that.
But but but he's hearing he'sseeing he's talked to the
therapist at the resort.
Now he's talked to his friendwho's gone through.
Ultimately, his friend wentthrough all this wild stuff and
now he's a Buddhist.
SPEAKER_04 (56:13):
I think there's
still going to be something
going on with the blenderbecause I kept bringing it up.
But honestly, I'm loving thisseason.
I look forward to every Sunday, even though to quote Victoria
about this last episode.
Well, that was stressful.
I was going to have a grand malseizure.
SPEAKER_00 (56:32):
In episode 99,
Peanut Butter Egg Drama, we
discussed the White Lotus seasonthree.
But more importantly, wediscussed why peanut butter
cups, Reese's peanut butter cupsand Reese's peanut butter eggs
are the same thing.
SPEAKER_04 (56:43):
They are not the
same thing.
Everybody with a palate knowsthat the egg is superior to the
cup in every level.
It's all about the ratio, youdummy.
SPEAKER_00 (56:53):
The White Lotus
season three, episode six.
SPEAKER_04 (56:57):
Piper, no.
SPEAKER_00 (56:59):
Entitled Denials.
SPEAKER_01 (57:02):
This
SPEAKER_00 (57:06):
is kind of the
fallout episode from the
previous episode where we kindof see...
SPEAKER_04 (57:12):
The two brothers.
SPEAKER_00 (57:14):
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (57:16):
We got...
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (57:20):
They did stuff.
They did stuff.
They did stuff.
And we're not going to go intogreat detail, but they did
stuff.
Together.
And both of them seem to behaving...
feelings about how they feelabout that different feelings I
think but
SPEAKER_04 (57:32):
yeah do you think
okay so let's walk it back we
wake up on the boat Saxonclearly hungover drunk he is
having some images of whathappened but not exactly what he
is seeing in his brain is notexactly what happened with the
you know intimate moments let'sput it that way and he says he
(57:54):
doesn't remember anything nowLachlan comes over and is like I
didn't remember anything do youbelieve that Lachlan didn't
remember anything do you thinkhis memory because we see a
scene later where Lachlan's withhis sister at the Buddhism place
and he's like meditating andsuddenly he sees the images of
what happened
SPEAKER_00 (58:14):
see do we think
SPEAKER_04 (58:16):
Lachlan remembered
in that moment or not
SPEAKER_00 (58:18):
if you had asked me
before that scene at the
Buddhist temple if he rememberedanything I would say he did and
he was just
SPEAKER_04 (58:25):
also repressing
SPEAKER_00 (58:26):
it repressing it in
that social contract where you
two people can look at eachother and know something weird
happened and go we're nevergoing to talk about this again
without actually saying that butthe scene at the Buddhist temple
where he has the flash kind ofleads me to believe maybe he did
not actually remember whathappened and that was his kind
of coming back to him becauseyou know they had he's 18 um
(58:50):
they had had a lot of alcoholand recreational drugs on the
course over the course of thatnight it's not out of the realm
of possibility i
SPEAKER_04 (58:59):
feel like he well he
i think his reaction to it upon
realization is more of aconfused like did that really
just happen whereas saxon's islike disgust oh my gosh i have
been violated obviously saxon isa despicable character but i
think in this moment with whatWhat happened?
I feel like Lachlan was like thebad guy in the scene and the
(59:22):
aggressor, so to speak.
I really do.
Have you seen the preview fornext week?
He is shirtless on the bed withhis sister.
I hope that's just Mike Whitetrying to throw us all off
because I can't take thetrifecta of Flowers in the Attic
children.
I can't.
SPEAKER_00 (59:37):
I have not seen the
next episode.
Speaking of the sister, so shehad told her parents last
episode why she actually wantedto come to Thailand.
You want to live
SPEAKER_04 (59:46):
in Taiwan?
SPEAKER_00 (59:47):
And she gets them to
agree to go meet with the head
monk at the temple to talk tohim and kind of get more
comfortable.
I have
SPEAKER_04 (59:55):
seen the conditions
and it is dire.
SPEAKER_00 (59:56):
Tim is going through
it.
SPEAKER_04 (59:58):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (59:59):
He talks to the monk
and actually seems to kind of be
comforted by him.
And I do want to say, you know,I'm not familiar with Buddhism
in any way.
I felt like the explanation ofwhat happens when we die that
was given there was mildlycomforting.
That was very nice.
To a certain extent.
And so he comes out andbasically seems like he doesn't
(01:00:21):
have a problem with it.
And so Parker Posey gives the...
The ultimatum.
Victoria gives the ultimatum tobasically, well, stay here for
one night.
and see if you like and if youcome and you say you want to
stay here then you can stay.
SPEAKER_04 (01:00:33):
Her trying to talk
to the monks that weren't
speaking was taking me out.
She just please give ParkerPosey all of the awards for
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:41):
this.
I don't think they know English.
They didn't speak becausethey're probably on a vow of
silence.
I wish
SPEAKER_04 (01:00:45):
I could have seen
her talk to the like leader monk
guy.
I felt like though when it comesto Piper I think right now we're
seeing just poor little boredrich girl syndrome that wants a
different life wants somethingout there.
I don't think her A lot ofpeople are saying, is she like
Quinn, the boy that ended upstaying in Hawaii from season
one?
(01:01:06):
I don't think so.
I think it's different.
Quinn had felt ostracized andwanted something different for
himself.
I think she's just at a placewhere she's like, where's my
life going?
And this is just the fad thatshe wants to try to get away
from her parents.
Because at the end of the day,she was like, I need mom and
dad's support because if theydon't support her, she's not
going to have the money to flyout there again and go stay.
(01:01:27):
I don't know.
We'll see.
It was giving me boredom.
little rich girl syndrome whojust wants to try to be
something she's not and breakaway from her family a little
bit.
A little hint of a dash ofrebellion.
But maybe I'm wrong.
We'll see.
I
SPEAKER_00 (01:01:43):
certainly see the
spoiled little rich girl part.
I do think she I feel like she'sgenuine in her desire to come
here and stay.
So I don't know that I would usethe word fad necessarily.
You could
SPEAKER_04 (01:01:56):
have a bunch of
sister wives.
SPEAKER_00 (01:01:59):
But I do think that
she does not know the full
extent of what she would begetting herself into by
committing to that or she doesknow that and she's not sure
that she's going to be able tofully commit to it which is why
she needs the parental tosupport otherwise if she goes
without their support they'renot just going to be able to fly
her they're not going to justfly her home whenever she wants
SPEAKER_04 (01:02:19):
i think it's a hint
of rebellion too a little bit in
a different way it's just idon't know At least it gave us
some comedy.
And then, like, we come back, and they're back at the room,
and basically Victoria just popsoff on Tim.
She's like, you want toencourage this?
For her to live in a monastery?
(01:02:39):
Is that what she says?
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:41):
Yeah.
But that leads them to theconversation they had where,
because from last episode, weknow Tim was seriously
considering ending his own life.
SPEAKER_04 (01:02:51):
Well, he's basically
like, shouldn't we teach our
kids, you know, to rough it andto to make it on their own
because what if they're notgoing to have all this stuff
someday and she's like whywouldn't they
SPEAKER_00 (01:03:02):
yeah and then she
makes the comment basically like
well why would I want to livethat way
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:06):
yeah she's like we
want to raise them to be afraid
to be poor
SPEAKER_00 (01:03:10):
that is honestly
furthering his descent into a
bad place by hearing that
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:15):
he's like what if it
went away she's like well
honestly I wouldn't want she'slike well I wouldn't want it I
think at this point in my age Iwouldn't want to live
uncomfortably or whatever shesays and I'm like Preaching
honey.
SPEAKER_00 (01:03:28):
But it's also like
really damaging to him and his
psyche because he basically ishearing that his wife is not
going to be at his side when allthis stuff goes down.
I
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:36):
think he went from a
place of sort of feeling at
peace from that monk.
Like maybe it would be okay.
And this is going to teach Piperthat she can, you know, do more
to have riches.
And then Victoria's like, whywould I want to live
uncomfortably at my age?
Not Piper, Victoria.
I always think of Victoriabecause of the whole Piper-ness.
(01:03:56):
No.
Do you agree with Victoria alittle bit, though?
Could you go back?
And I'll phrase it for you thisway.
We'll take the money out of it,okay?
I'm going to change it
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:08):
up for you a little
bit.
Hit me
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:09):
up.
Huh?
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:10):
Hit me up.
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:11):
Could you go back to
living in a tiny shoebox dorm
with a roommate, with communalshowers, and that type of life?
As fun as dorm life was, couldyou do that again?
I don't
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:21):
think I could.
Do I want to?
Absolutely not.
If I had to do it, to ensure mysurvival, yeah, I could do it.
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:29):
I guess I'm thinking
of want versus could.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:33):
Right, and I think
that in Victoria's mind, both of
those are a no.
She doesn't want to do it.
My girl's without
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:38):
her lorazepam,
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:39):
though.
And she could not do it.
You
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:40):
have to understand,
she doesn't have her lorazepam.
I have to go drink myself tosleep now.
Well, speaking of other peoplein this storyline...
world's worst security guard of
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:53):
all time.
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:54):
He went into their
room and took the gun.
He
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:57):
somehow found the
gun.
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:58):
So when Timothy
tries to go look for it, because
now his head's completely messedagain.
he's not going to find it.
I feel like he can't really getmad about that because he stole
it in the first
SPEAKER_00 (01:05:09):
place.
I'm telling you right now, I'mgoing to make a prediction.
Because of the shelf that he putit in with all those different
boxes, he's going to have afreak out.
All those things are going to...
There's going to be a scenewhere he's just pulling all
those boxes out.
Like when I
SPEAKER_04 (01:05:21):
try to find an
outfit that I insisted was in a
drawer and I can't find it.
SPEAKER_00 (01:05:25):
Because he's going
to not remember exactly which
one he put it in and start justpulling them all out when it's
not there in the one he thoughtit was in.
I
SPEAKER_04 (01:05:32):
could see that.
SPEAKER_00 (01:05:33):
I'm kind of...
Him finding that gun so quicklyand just getting it right back
to his thing and his boss neverfound out that it was gone and
then he goes to the shootingrange and shoots it.
I didn't see that coming.
I kind of thought once Tim hadthe gun, that was it.
SPEAKER_04 (01:05:48):
I feel like he kind
of found it in the nick of time.
Yeah,
SPEAKER_00 (01:05:52):
he did.
SPEAKER_04 (01:05:53):
His storyline's a
bore.
I really don't like the littlesecurity.
It's not boring.
That's not what I mean.
I bet he is a bore as a person.
He's a terrible security guard.
Worst
SPEAKER_00 (01:06:02):
security guard ever.
He should have
SPEAKER_04 (01:06:03):
been like, hey, I
need to search you.
And that was the previousepisode, and Tim was just like,
no.
By the way, there are people inthe world that don't know the
phrase Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
I saw that on TikTok, and I'mlike, that must be a thing from
southern Appalachian andsouthern and down.
Because when Saxon's in theretrying to make his little shake
(01:06:25):
with his stupid blender becausehe's had just the worst night
ever.
And she's doing that.
She's trying to talk to Timothy.
And Victoria's like, Jesus,Mary, and Joseph Saxon just took
me out.
SPEAKER_00 (01:06:39):
Well, there's plenty
of people that didn't grow up in
the good old Bible Belt.
SPEAKER_04 (01:06:42):
I guess not.
Okay, so the moment where Saxonfound out what happened, he's
talking to the two girls.
Chelsea's face was like, basically, I feel like she spoke
for all of us.
We're like, yeah, we're notjudging.
He's like, no, that's not whatwe do.
So I have to ask you, becauseI'm seeing...
mixed opinions on this and theway I fall on it is I do he's a
(01:07:07):
jerk but I do feel bad for himin this moment do you feel bad
for Saxon I don't think anybodydeserves to get assaulted which
I basically feel like happened
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:17):
yeah I mean there's
some sympathy there I mean I
will say like he was the pusherto put him in that situation in
the first place and he was thepusher to be like he
SPEAKER_04 (01:07:25):
didn't want to take
the drugs
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:27):
he didn't want to
take the drugs you're right and
I don't
SPEAKER_04 (01:07:28):
think he would have
done that if he hadn't taken the
drugs
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:30):
sure but he pushed
him to that situation and And he
also was the one talking to hisbrother about, you know, let's
get with these girls and allthis stuff.
What did
SPEAKER_04 (01:07:38):
it mean, let's get
with each
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:39):
other?
I'm not saying he got what hedeserved.
That's not what I'm saying.
I think, you know, obviously hedidn't ask for that.
he's not completely innocent inthat situation either
SPEAKER_04 (01:07:49):
but I still feel bad
at him having this realization
and it could be like maybe he'sthinking like did I encourage
this
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:56):
right exactly yeah
SPEAKER_04 (01:07:58):
I don't know we'll
see how it plays off sometimes I
feel like the toxic brand of manthat Saxon is might double down
on it and actually get meanerabout it and not be like what
have I done what's going on andit could we might have one the
next second where we're mad athim again I really hope the
whole Lachlan and Piper becauseLachlan's gonna stay overnight
(01:08:19):
with Piper at the monastery andI'm hoping that whole like
shirtless in the bed with hissister is just a since we're all
like ah about what happenedalthough they have some creepy
vibes too I think I just can't Ithink Lachlan is confused about
a lot of her things and we'reseeing that play out on screen
so speaking of not confused butthrowing it telling it like how
(01:08:41):
it is my girl Lori I finallyfigured out one of the How many
episodes?
Six.
Instead of the three blondes.
Lori's done with being fake.
SPEAKER_01 (01:08:52):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:08:52):
So Kate tells her
that Jacqueline snuck...
Is his name Nico?
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:56):
Yeah, I think so.
Every
SPEAKER_04 (01:08:57):
time I...
You know what I think about?
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:58):
No, I don't.
SPEAKER_04 (01:09:00):
Nicolage.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Every time I think of this guy'sname.
So Kate spills the beans aboutthat.
And Jacqueline...
Who, by the way...
Not Jacqueline.
Lori.
Who, by the way...
The power of...
a white woman being able toovercome a severe hangover.
How she was able to just
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:18):
talk and chat at
breakfast after that night.
I paused the show and be like,if I had done half of what they
had done the night before, I'dstill be comatose up in the bed.
It makes
SPEAKER_04 (01:09:28):
sense why Kate was
down there eating breakfast
because she didn't have thedrinks.
She wanted to go to bed thewhole time.
Jacqueline did look tired and alittle hungover and her
boyfriend, husband, whatever, finally checked in with her and
So Kate tells Lori this, andLori's like, I'm sick of
Jacqueline.
Fake stuff.
She's like, she was pushing Nicoon me all week.
(01:09:50):
Then it's just classicJacqueline.
Same crap she's done since 10thgrade.
And I feel like this dynamic offemale friendships reminds you
of the people that you werefriends with when you were
younger.
You grow and you change from, but then when you get together,
you just act exactly like youdid in high school.
So many women, I think, canrelate to that experience.
I'm not sure about you dudes.
(01:10:10):
But so many women can
SPEAKER_00 (01:10:11):
relate to that.
Not in the same way, but I dothink people easily fall back
into those roles that wereestablished in high school when
they get around those types of
SPEAKER_04 (01:10:20):
people.
And you have Kate.
Well, she's one of the onesleading the charge of the
gossip.
When Jacqueline and Lori areactually confronting each other,
she's like, oh, no, no, no.
I thought that was funny.
Yeah.
And I'm like, get her, get her,Lori.
And then Jacqueline's justacting like basically
gaslighting her friends.
Like, oh, that didn't happen.
You didn't see anything.
And then Jacqueline, who's beenthe queen of gossip, too, is
(01:10:40):
like, why is everybody gossipingabout me?
So these three broads, I'm abouthad it with them except for
Lori.
And somebody pointed out to youabout how each of their, like,
jobs and kind of what they domatches up with them like Lori's
the lawyer so of course she'sgoing to tell you what it is
Jacqueline's the actressdesperate to hang on her youth
(01:11:01):
of course she's going to try tohave her own spin her own image
story and then Kate does thewhole like charity work and
stuff so she's going to just belike try to be a nice one even
though they're all talking abouteach other then Belinda's son
finally showed up
SPEAKER_00 (01:11:15):
finally shows up
catches him in the catches her
in the sack with her masseuseguy
SPEAKER_04 (01:11:19):
which he seems
surprisingly chill about
SPEAKER_00 (01:11:21):
yeah he did it
didn't seem like that was the
first time
SPEAKER_04 (01:11:23):
not phased yeah but
now we've got gary slash greg
who ran into belinda
SPEAKER_00 (01:11:29):
inviting her up to
the party which is probably next
episode
SPEAKER_04 (01:11:32):
and he's also told
chloe that's his wife's name who
did had the event with bothbrothers on the boat and So he
told her to go find Saxon andtell her to invite Saxon and
Lachlan to this boat party, butLachlan's not going to be able
(01:11:52):
to be there because he's goingto be with Piper at the
monestary.
I
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:00):
don't know why he
wants them both there.
I
SPEAKER_04 (01:12:02):
think that he has
security cameras on the boat and
watches the whole thing, and heknows that they're a rich family
and wants to blackmail them andget more money.
That's what I think he's therefor.
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:12):
And
SPEAKER_04 (01:12:13):
I think he wants to
threaten Belinda.
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:15):
Yeah, I think that's
what's happening, but I wonder
if he's going to throw us a loopbecause he's being really weird
about Greg.
Or maybe he wants
SPEAKER_04 (01:12:22):
to have some fun
with all of them.
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:24):
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
SPEAKER_04 (01:12:27):
And then Walton
Goggins' character, Rick...
And his friend that's, you know, who is this girl I see that
wants to be an Asian woman, SamRockwell's character, they get
back together and he's like, Ineed you to pretend to be like
this movie producer guy to getinto the hotel lady's house.
(01:12:48):
We see him come face to facewith a man that allegedly shot
his father.
My theory is that that man ishis father.
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:54):
You think?
SPEAKER_04 (01:12:55):
I think so.
But who knows?
I
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:57):
mean, it's possible.
I don't really know wherethey're going with that.
Because I'm pretty sure Rick hassaid multiple times he was very
young.
so he probably wouldn't reallyremember what he looked like.
You'd think he'd have a picture.
SPEAKER_04 (01:13:06):
Couldn't you
imagine, though, a parent on
their deathbed and being like, your dad was killed because
maybe they didn't want to admitthat their dad left them?
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:16):
Yeah, that's true.
That's possible.
But I
SPEAKER_04 (01:13:17):
don't know what Mike
White has up his sleeve.
It could be totally differentthan what we're thinking, but
just like I trust the Severanceteam of writers, I trust Mike
White to let's make it weird.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:27):
Oh, it's going to be
weird.
But not too weird.
We didn't get to see him either.
And that, I think, was a pivotalshot.
They intentionally kept us fromseeing the face of the guy.
Like, we heard his voice, but wedidn't see his face.
So I think that's an importantdetail that we're going to get
to see more of.
I don't need any
SPEAKER_04 (01:13:43):
brother-sister
action, though, next week,
y'all.
I just don't.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:46):
Yeah, we could leave
that part.
We could leave that part out.
SPEAKER_04 (01:13:50):
Oh, it's my turn.
In episode 100, oddly enough, our conversation continued in
our the 100th episode.
Well, you know, episode 100 wasour 100th.
SPEAKER_00 (01:14:04):
We have watched a
little bit of TV this week.
After we got over the loss ofSeverance and not being able to
watch that.
I
SPEAKER_04 (01:14:10):
was going to say
that, too.
But you said wait first.
SPEAKER_00 (01:14:14):
We had to wait all
weekend on...
all Sunday, all the way until 9p.m.
Eastern Daylight Time to watchThe White Lotus, Season 3,
Episode 7.
SPEAKER_04 (01:14:31):
Basically, Sunday is
Walton Goggins night.
For those of you that don'tknow.
I
SPEAKER_00 (01:14:35):
saw a little bit too
much of Walton Goggins this
week, though.
Not in the White Lotus, though.
No, not in the White Lotus.
SPEAKER_04 (01:14:41):
All right.
So this episode, a lot happened.
And a lot happened and a lot wasrevealed.
But that being said, I felt likeit was kind of a little calmer
from the ick of the previousepisode, if that makes any
sense.
But still a lot of things goingon.
So we've got Rick...
he's with Sam Rockwell andthey're at the lady's house that
(01:15:04):
owns the hotel so he can meetthe man that supposedly killed
his father I'm team that is hisfather oh
SPEAKER_00 (01:15:11):
yeah I think that's
gonna yeah I think that's what
we're gonna find out
SPEAKER_04 (01:15:15):
I have been on that
side of it the whole time so Sam
Rockwell is just he just broughtin for like the the comedy we've
got this like serious intenseconversation with Rick and her
husband yeah and then we've gotSam Rockwell pretending to be
some like Holly with directorwith the woman and he's like oh
that's like Peter Pan meetsMichael Jackson meets Pippen and
(01:15:36):
then we and then we've got Rickbeing like Didn't he mention his
mom's name?
And the guy did repeat his mom'sname and was like, oh.
SPEAKER_00 (01:15:44):
Yeah, I think the
guy recognized the name.
SPEAKER_04 (01:15:46):
But instead of
shooting him, he did the right
thing and just casually pushedthe old man out of his chair.
My question is, are they goingto return to the hotel?
Because now there's...
What's going on?
SPEAKER_00 (01:15:56):
Well, yeah, because
once...
Because
SPEAKER_04 (01:15:57):
Chelsea's still at
the hotel.
SPEAKER_00 (01:15:59):
Chelsea's at the
hotel.
And they own the hotel.
And the way Rick got to meetthis guy is by convincing his
wife, the owner of the hotel,that...
they wanted to put her in amovie.
So she knows where he's staying.
But
SPEAKER_04 (01:16:13):
he hasn't returned
yet because he and Sam
Rockwell's character decided togo out and party.
I hope that Rick doesn't cheaton Chelsea.
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:21):
At this point in the
show, so we all know from
episode one, a shootout is goingto take place in the hotel.
Because next week's the lastepisode.
SPEAKER_04 (01:16:31):
Yes.
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:32):
At this point, and
we'll talk about the other
storylines here in a second, itis feasible that you could
believe that just abouteverybody wants to shoot
somebody.
SPEAKER_03 (01:16:41):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:41):
Right?
So who's it going to be?
And I guarantee it's going to beout of left field.
SPEAKER_04 (01:16:46):
I really like, do
you think one of the monkeys is
going to do that, like what
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:49):
TikTok says?
I've seen a popular theory onthat.
I don't think they're going todo that.
SPEAKER_04 (01:16:54):
I don't think so
either.
They did focus a lot on themonkeys in this
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:57):
first episode.
Early, but they haven't for awhile.
SPEAKER_04 (01:16:59):
I mean, they showed
the monkey statue at the
beginning of this one.
Yeah.
I did like how this was, thisepisode I call it an ADHDer's
dream because it was like onescene clip, one scene clip, one
scene clip, and it wasn't justso focused.
And I could see some peoplebeing annoyed by that.
I liked the pace scene, and Iliked how they had the fight
scenes interspersing betweeneach scene.
SPEAKER_00 (01:17:21):
Well, because
everybody was in conflict to a
certain extent in this episode.
SPEAKER_04 (01:17:24):
So we have the three
ladies.
We've got Lori that basicallyjust totally called Jacqueline
out.
Then we've got Kate still tryingto make nice.
So they're just crumbling.
But Lori, I feel like eventhough what Jacqueline said was
mean to Lori, we'll just goahead and get into her storyline
now.
In a way, there was some truthto it, even though Jacqueline
(01:17:44):
was a little rude about it.
She was like, if you keepdrawing the short stick in life,
do you really have bad luck?
And I was like, what a meanthing to say.
But then Lori turns around andmakes some terrible decisions,
at least when Jacqueline hookedup with, by the way, his name's
not Nico, it's
SPEAKER_00 (01:17:59):
Valentin.
I
SPEAKER_04 (01:18:00):
don't know why we
called him Nico.
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:02):
Is anybody in the
show named Nico?
SPEAKER_04 (01:18:03):
No.
If you're a longtime listener ofthis show, you'll know we're bad
with names.
So when Jacqueline hooked upwith Valentin, she did it at the
hotel security.
Well, Lori just goes off to thisValentine's friend's apartment
i'm assuming first she'saccepting beverages from him
that he hands to her because shedecided to abandon the girls and
(01:18:23):
go to the fight so she just goesto like his apartment and he
clearly has a girlfriend orsomething so that that's just a
bad decision right there andthen we find out which we
already kind of knew thisbecause the world's worst
security guard finally formed athought
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:38):
yeah so he and mook
at the fight also was was
SPEAKER_04 (01:18:43):
apparently mook get
through him a bone in their
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:44):
own yeah and the
security guard and they're
having their first day and theygo eat and then they're at the
fight.
Do you
SPEAKER_04 (01:18:49):
think she likes him?
Or do you think maybe she wantssomebody with job security?
I thought she was never going togo out with him.
So that surprised me.
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:58):
I don't know.
I still think there's somethingto her that hasn't been revealed
yet.
SPEAKER_04 (01:19:02):
Agreed.
So like you said, they're at thefights.
SPEAKER_00 (01:19:06):
He sees Lori.
He sees Valentin and hisfriends.
And he recognizes one of thefriends as one of the guys who
robbed him.
SPEAKER_04 (01:19:15):
Yes.
SPEAKER_00 (01:19:16):
And then he starts
to put it together.
SPEAKER_04 (01:19:17):
And that is one of
the ones.
So I think just as we thought, Ido think Valentin drove up to
distract him and then hisbuddies came in and did it.
I don't think Valentina is someinnocent flower whatsoever.
So Lori straight up is trying toescape out the window at this
guy's place after they hooked upand she sees all the jewelry.
So we have two people that know.
Lori knows and is his nameGaddock?
SPEAKER_01 (01:19:39):
Gaddock.
SPEAKER_04 (01:19:40):
He knows.
So my money on the two of themjust based on him trying to get
the gun from Timothy is I feellike she's more willing to say
something about it than he is.
For sure.
I don't know.
So she makes some poor choices.
But the big reveal is we knowwho robbed.
The question is, what's he goingto do about it?
SPEAKER_00 (01:20:02):
My guess is instead
of doing what he should do,
which is go to his boss and say, hey, I was at the fight the
other night and I saw this guyand he looks exactly like the
guy who robbed us.
And oh, by the way, he washanging out with one of our
employees.
He is going to, because ofwhat's been put into his head
this entire season aboutstepping up and being a man,
he's going to try and solve iton his own and it's going to
(01:20:23):
work out poorly.
That's not a
SPEAKER_04 (01:20:24):
great idea.
I'm still sus, like you said.
I'm still sus about Mook.
So...
Let's go over to Timothy andQueen Victoria.
Timothy, you were waiting forthat scene of him to look for
the gun.
At this point, Timothy feelslike he's going to have to off
his whole family because he hada conversation with Saxon where
Saxon was like, I'm nothingwithout this job.
(01:20:47):
I need this job.
What's going on?
So he's like, oh crap, I'm goingto have to kill my wife because
I just don't think at this ageI'm meant to live an
uncomfortable life.
So you said that the moment hehid the gun, you were like, I
can't wait for the scene wherehe tries to find it and is going
through all the drawers.
Did that scene deliver?
SPEAKER_00 (01:21:04):
Yeah, that's exactly
what i would have done just
suddenly this panic of like waitis it in what maybe i forgot
which one i put it in yeah andhe just ends up like pulling
them all through to try and findit and realize it's not there
SPEAKER_04 (01:21:14):
i think it's insane
how he takes victoria's pills
with no water he just fully justraw dogs
SPEAKER_00 (01:21:20):
yeah like i i can't
if i have to do that with ib if
i have to do it like if i'mhurting bad and i have no other
option i can but it's notsomething i prefer to do i
SPEAKER_04 (01:21:30):
need like a good
amount of liquid
SPEAKER_00 (01:21:33):
to get my preference
is a nice cold beverage to go
along Along with my pills, yes.
SPEAKER_04 (01:21:37):
Yes.
I feel like that's most people.
So Victoria, I feel like she'sgetting a little more sassy
without the pills, but stilldelivering us great lines.
Every episode, Parker Posey hasamazing lines.
So we all know Gary Gregg wantsBelinda and all these people to
come to this party.
SPEAKER_01 (01:21:56):
Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:21:57):
So Saxon comes and
tells his parents, we're going
to this party.
And she's like, the boat people?
But then she goes anyway, andshe goes over and talks to one
of the pretty girls that was onthe boat and she's like come to
North Carolina with me she'sbasically like we can get you
set up with a respectable nicerich man so that was iconic
legendary and then my favoritescene of her she's in bed in her
(01:22:21):
little nightgown and she'spraying and Timothy's like what
are you doing she's like I'mpraying that Piper has a
miserable time and that Jesuswill get her away from these
Buddhists just please protecther at all costs because she's
she's hilarious
SPEAKER_00 (01:22:37):
i think she's safe
SPEAKER_04 (01:22:39):
i hope so i sure
hope so So back to the party.
Now, Belinda, Gary Greggbasically comes up to Belinda
and he more or less says like,oh, so you recognize me.
Believe me, I wanted a freshstart.
I didn't kill my wife, but I'llgive you all this money because
I know Tanya said that youwanted to start a business.
(01:23:01):
My opinion, that's not him beinggenerous.
That's him being shut your mouthmoney.
SPEAKER_00 (01:23:05):
Oh, for sure.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:23:07):
So do you agree with
Belinda's son that she should go
ahead and take the money?
She said she had to sleep on it.
SPEAKER_00 (01:23:12):
I think you got to
take it and you got to get out
of there.
Whether you take the check fromhim and don't do anything with
it because you feel bad becauseit's...
SPEAKER_04 (01:23:20):
Like she said,
though, she's like, that could
make me an accomplice to murder.
I would say not.
Maybe take the money, leave,
SPEAKER_00 (01:23:26):
then go to the cops
and give them the check.
What's the guy going to do toyou if you refuse to take it is
the question.
That's what her son said.
He's going to try and kill youif you don't.
SPEAKER_04 (01:23:36):
Couldn't she just
take it, go fly home, and then
report everything she knows tothe cops and just give them the
money?
SPEAKER_01 (01:23:41):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:23:43):
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
We'll see.
So that party was weird.
I'm very confused about Chloe...
was revealed to Chelsea andSaxon saying that
SPEAKER_00 (01:23:55):
Gary Greg wants to
watch
SPEAKER_04 (01:23:57):
does he have an
Oedipus complex
SPEAKER_00 (01:23:59):
he wants to watch
SPEAKER_04 (01:24:00):
because he said like
as he used to watch his parents
yeah when he was younger what
SPEAKER_00 (01:24:04):
he likes to watch
SPEAKER_04 (01:24:06):
see I've thought
that he wanted Saxon and Lachlan
to be on the boat so he could belike hey I saw what you two were
doing and he knows theirfamily's rich and blackmail them
for money but maybe that's notthe case Chelsea's facial
expressions every scene are justme So like, what, what?
So Chelsea and Saxon like go offand he's like, I, cause she told
(01:24:28):
him, you know, you don't have asoul, you're soulless.
And she's like, tries to helphim meditate and give him books.
But then of course, Saxon's notchanged.
He tries to instantly like touchher hands more.
And I think sometimes wherepeople have been violated, they
try to take back the power bymaybe doing it to somebody else.
But yeah.
He did listen to her when shewas like, no.
SPEAKER_00 (01:24:50):
Yeah, I think he's a
guy, through the experiences
that he's had on the episode,he's a guy on the edge of
teetering on the edge of whichway am I going to fall here?
What lesson from all of thisthat's happened to me, what
lesson am I going to learn?
Is it a good lesson or is it abad lesson?
Because he was also saying...
(01:25:10):
He
SPEAKER_04 (01:25:11):
almost had me
convinced for
SPEAKER_00 (01:25:12):
a second.
He was saying, I have nothing.
But it's recognition...
Okay?
That he needs to change as aperson.
But then he goes trying thatstuff with Chelsea and you
wonder, okay, what's he reallygoing for here?
He
SPEAKER_04 (01:25:27):
almost had me
convinced that he was trying to
find something new in life.
And then I was like, oh, no.
SPEAKER_01 (01:25:33):
No.
SPEAKER_04 (01:25:33):
And...
Chelsea, I have a new take onher.
I think that she, well, she saysRick's her soulmate.
I think she likes a project.
She likes somebody damaged.
I think she can't stand Saxon, but I do think this episode, by
the way, she hurriedly rushedout of the room.
I think she can't stand him, butshe's low-key into him.
I'm just going to throw that outthere.
SPEAKER_00 (01:25:53):
My Aries girl, I see
you.
I see you, girl.
Rick is off doing his thing.
She doesn't know exactly what'sgoing to happen to him, and this
kid could be another project.
SPEAKER_04 (01:26:02):
Yeah.
And that's why she kind ofsprinted out of the room.
So Lachlan and Piper.
nothing weird thank thankgoodness no more flowers in the
attic like activity amongsiblings but i think we have it
confirmed that piper just wantsto escape from her family
because lachlan mentioned he waslike you know maybe i'll stay
(01:26:23):
too and her reaction to that wasnot great
SPEAKER_00 (01:26:26):
i don't even know if
it's necessarily an escape for
her family as just being youknow she goes and she just stays
at this monastery for a year andnow she's got that thing that
she can that interesting thingabout her to feel special about
but if If he comes and does ittoo, then it's not special
SPEAKER_04 (01:26:40):
anymore.
I feel like I'm getting theimpression that he is the really
smart one of the three siblings.
SPEAKER_00 (01:26:45):
Yeah.
The
SPEAKER_01 (01:26:45):
way they've behaved.
I feel that way too, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:26:47):
So I don't know.
Her whole vibe was off.
And then Daniel's like, oh, dothey get their own rooms?
I could probably stay somewherelike this.
And I just turn and I say, youwant to stay in some dirty
monastery with a bunch of kidswith no purpose?
SPEAKER_00 (01:27:01):
It's unclear to me
if everybody gets their own room
or if they're just in roomsbecause they're visiting, but
they're not actually staying thefull time.
Because I imagined they weregoing to be in this like
hostile- This hostel room wasjust a bunch of bunk beds and
everybody was laying in there.
SPEAKER_04 (01:27:13):
I just don't think
I'm meant to live in a
comfortable life.
SPEAKER_00 (01:27:17):
So they built a
bunch of tension with this
episode.
It was a slower paced episodebut they built tension to the
next episode where we find outWho's shooting who, who's dead.
And have you seen
SPEAKER_04 (01:27:29):
the preview for it?
SPEAKER_00 (01:27:30):
No, I haven't seen
SPEAKER_04 (01:27:30):
it yet.
The preview has the infamousblender again and the mentioning
of poisonous fruit.
And I'm like, is Timothy goingto prep some killjoy smoothies
for his whole family?
Like at this point, my poorTimothy.
And you had some really goodobservations about Timothy that
you shared with me earliertoday.
Do you remember what you said?
SPEAKER_00 (01:27:50):
Yeah, well, he's...
About what he's going through.
His...
Every single person in hisfamily, maybe Piper hasn't so
much.
The two younger ones haven't.
But his wife and his oldest son, they very much made it a point
to have conversations with him.
Say, your value is your job.
(01:28:10):
Your value is the money thatyou're bringing into this
family.
With Tim, of course, knowingthat when he gets back to
America, things are going to bebad.
There's going to be aninvestigation.
He
SPEAKER_04 (01:28:20):
screwed up.
SPEAKER_00 (01:28:21):
He screwed up.
But he's only looking at acouple months in jail with a
plea deal.
And it's like, that's honestlygetting off pretty good.
But because of the implicationsof that, he won't be able to
work in the job that he hasanymore.
He won't be bringing the incomeanymore.
And the things that his wife hassaid about not being able to
(01:28:42):
live a comfortable life.
And his son saying, my job is...
all that I am and all the, bythe way, the only reason I have
my job is because of you.
So if you aren't capable, youknow what I mean?
Like it's all gone.
And so it's a, it's commentaryon him, him as a man feeling
like there's a lot of pressureon men in this society to be,
you know, to bring in, to be avalue.
(01:29:04):
And the only way that a lot ofpeople or a lot of either
perceive it or we perceive itupon ourselves is the way we
bring value is having a job thatbrings in money.
And there are other ways that wecan be valued and loved.
And so I think that's whatthey're trying to, the
commentary that they're havingwith his character in
particular.
SPEAKER_04 (01:29:20):
Speaking of, which
one, I'm okay that he's not
valued and loved because of his,the hotel manager, his response
to Belinda's concern about thepolice where he just dismissed
her.
Yeah.
I'm cool with him not beingvalued and loved.
But I thought he'd get a littlemore love.
He was so excited to sing.
And that's instantly during hisperformance, they cut out and we
(01:29:42):
got the trio of ladies He'sarguing.
I
SPEAKER_00 (01:29:45):
almost think because
I've seen a couple people make
TikTok videos about how themanagers of the hotels in the
previous two seasons were muchmore prominent and interesting
characters.
And this character at every turnis getting cut off.
And that to me is the gag ofthis season.
I
SPEAKER_04 (01:30:02):
don't like the way
he handled Belinda when she came
to him with concerns.
He was basically like police.
No, you go help our rich guests.
Like it was very annoying to me.
SPEAKER_00 (01:30:10):
Well, that's what
he's been told to do.
SPEAKER_04 (01:30:12):
I guess so.
I don't know.
I think that we're in for a wildride for Episode 8, and I'm
excited about it.
SPEAKER_00 (01:30:20):
I'm excited, but
then the darkness begins of
where you lose another show.
We finalized talking about TheWhite Lotus Season 3 in Episode
101.
The White Lotus Season 3 finale.
Really impressively creativename to that one.
SPEAKER_04 (01:30:33):
All right.
Let's just get into some shows.
We watched a big one.
The White Lotus season threefinale.
It has since aired.
We know everything that happens.
SPEAKER_00 (01:30:46):
Spoilers going
forward, of course.
SPEAKER_04 (01:30:48):
Yes, and remember,
check those chapter markers.
This is your final warning.
White Lotus.
The coconut milk is bad!
SPEAKER_00 (01:30:57):
There was a lot of,
like, this episode was...
interesting
SPEAKER_04 (01:31:07):
i thought it was a
good finale i think that the
people that are complainingabout it like clearly didn't
watch the other two seasons ormaybe they're like even season
two while there was a lot ofaction the endings are still
kind of like we had like tanya'saccident but they never really i
keep seeing people like ohthere's plot holes because we
(01:31:27):
didn't see xyz that's the way itis every season with the white
lotus we don't see thesecharacters after they leave the
resort.
So, I agree with you.
It was interesting.
I was right about the majordeath.
Again, spoiler alert, my R.I.P.
my fellow Aries my queen Chelseabut if you didn't see I saw
(01:31:49):
somebody was like I can'tbelieve they did this like I
actually had a conversation withsomebody about this because he
was like there's no way they'regoing to kill her off and I'm
like they've literally beenforeshadowing it since the first
episode like heavily on the noseshe's like I'm going to make you
like happy or whatever even ifit kills me tragedies come in
threes basically Chelsea herwhole purpose at that point was
(01:32:11):
trying to make Rick happy And itwas honestly, and she's like,
oh, you know, we're a great lovestory, but it ended up being a
great love story, like Romeo andJuliet style.
So what do you think?
We'll just kick off talkingabout Chelsea.
SPEAKER_00 (01:32:22):
Yeah.
So like I'm with you.
She had some dialogue early inthe season, maybe even episode
one.
I
SPEAKER_01 (01:32:30):
think it
SPEAKER_00 (01:32:30):
was the first
episode.
And that was kind offoreshadowing that kind of had
it in my mind.
She was on my short list.
I'm a little surprised Rick aswell.
Yeah, that
SPEAKER_04 (01:32:40):
surprised me a
little bit that both of them.
I
SPEAKER_00 (01:32:42):
kind of thought he
would be the reason that she
died which he was yes but thathe would have to live with the
consequences of that and hedidn't so that was surprising to
me
SPEAKER_04 (01:32:52):
Chloe um Greg Gary's
wife whatever you want to call
her was like oh you know everytime girls go for romance like
something awful happens yeah shekind of forced that's another
example
SPEAKER_00 (01:33:05):
there was a lot of
foreshadowing for for Chelsea
for sure
SPEAKER_04 (01:33:08):
I think that she was
definitely like she Chelsea and
Victoria were the bestcharacters for me this season so
it was kind of a bummer yeahobviously to see but it made it
honestly for the the story thathe was telling that made sense i
definitely agree with you ithought rick was gonna have to
kind of have like theconsequences of that what
happened so for everybody that'sbeen paying attention to the
(01:33:31):
white lotus ricks was there hetook her there specifically
because he had a bone to pickwith the owner's husband who um
he was told by his mother on herdeathbed killed his father which
Well, you and I have thought Ithought like before we even met
the man, I was like, that'sgoing to be Rick's dad.
And every I've seen some peoplesay because he comes back.
(01:33:53):
I don't know why Rick thought hecould walk in to the resort with
no consequences.
Like it was nothing.
I did like he and Chelsea'sreunion scene.
But I was like, I figured hewould have come back.
I'm like, hey, we got to go.
But he really wasn't thinking
SPEAKER_00 (01:34:06):
that to me is either
his character is an idiot.
or kind of a plot hole.
SPEAKER_04 (01:34:12):
Or he...
wasn't as evolved from it as wewould like to think and he was i
SPEAKER_00 (01:34:19):
mean true he did
like get flustered by that guy
immediately after seeing him asecond time at the hotel um
SPEAKER_04 (01:34:26):
so they show up
because they want to take a
picture with jacqueline the tvstar and of course they're going
to point and look at rick belike oh my gosh and i've seen
some people that are like if hewas his dad why didn't he just
tell them he more or less likehe didn't say directly but he
was like oh yeah i know your dadyour dad like basically like
your mom's a liar so hetriggered rick with that he was
like your dad like sucksbasically he was calling himself
(01:34:48):
a terrible person yeah
SPEAKER_00 (01:34:50):
and i think he
SPEAKER_04 (01:34:50):
saved his like life
because he died too correct
SPEAKER_00 (01:34:53):
correct well we
assume he's an older guy was
already having health issues andtook two shots to the chest yeah
i would assume he probablydidn't make it i think if i had
to get inside of the man of theold man who turned out to be
rick's father it had to be likethis is gonna hurt this guy more
knowing that i abandoned himthan if he just thinks I killed
(01:35:15):
his dad.
So maybe I don't...
You're
SPEAKER_04 (01:35:17):
giving him a lot of
credit because I just felt like
the guy was kind of a piece ofcrap anyway and had done a lot
of shady things and wasbasically like, hey, I suck.
I mean, obviously he was honestenough that he did tell the wife
because she was like, he is yourfather.
SPEAKER_00 (01:35:29):
Yeah, but
self-preservation at some point,
right?
Like, this escalated veryquickly and you've got to think
it wouldn't maybe have escalatedto the point that it did if Rick
knew that was his actual father.
SPEAKER_04 (01:35:40):
Yeah, oh, I agree.
I think that if he knew Like, itwould have been just– I don't
know what direction they wouldhave gone in, but I don't think
there would have been, like, theviolence that there was.
That being said, while thisended up being, like, the most,
I say, cartoony death sequence,a lot of times I feel like The
White Lotus is rooted in, like, realism with human experiences.
I will say the way that whole, like, shooting scene went down
(01:36:02):
was a little, like, movievillain cartoony.
I'm not criticizing it.
I mean, we had similar things tothat in other shows.
even though that was, like, thebig action scene, I felt like
Rick's storyline was by far themost boring.
Well, next to Gay Doc, but...
SPEAKER_00 (01:36:19):
Um, I wouldn't say
boring.
And I love
SPEAKER_04 (01:36:20):
Walton Goggins and I
love Chelsea, but, like, at some
point, I'm like, I just didn'tcare about Rick and his daddy
drama.
I'm like, show me the threefriends.
Show me the Ratliff family.
Can't get enough of them.
Show me...
Show it to me, Rachel.
Like, just more Chelsea content.
I just...
I don't know.
Like, That ended up being, likeI said, the big playoff of the
(01:36:43):
action sequence, but I found hisstoryline the most.
I was like, eh.
SPEAKER_00 (01:36:48):
Sure.
I think I liked his journey alittle bit more than that,
especially as he intersectedwith what's-his-face's character
in Bangkok.
Oh, Sam Rockwell.
Sam Rockwell.
Yeah, sorry.
His name just escaped me there.
I thought that was interesting.
Honestly, at the end of the day,Sam Rockwell is the one that
(01:37:10):
actually was able to changehimself versus Rick who just
wasn't.
SPEAKER_04 (01:37:13):
But then Sam
Rockwell went right back to old
habits too.
SPEAKER_00 (01:37:16):
But at the end shot,
there he is right back in the
Buddhist temple doing hismeditations again.
He's the one who's able to dealwith it.
Oh, I didn't even notice that.
He was able to deal with itwhere Rick is just like he was
consumed with it.
And I think you're right.
I think he might have had somemomentarily clarity after the
(01:37:37):
first confrontation with the guywho turned out to be his dad But
he so quickly, when he saw himfor a second time, lost it.
Absolutely.
And that tells me that it wasjust a surface level
understanding.
And he truly was a broken personwho was going to end that way
one way or the
SPEAKER_04 (01:37:53):
other.
So you think while Sam Rockwellkind of fell off the wagon a
little bit that he did revertback to a...
Can we give it up for hislittle...
When he's trying to chase Rickdown in the hallway, I don't
know.
This had to be improvised,right?
He does this little roll
SPEAKER_02 (01:38:05):
on the
SPEAKER_04 (01:38:06):
floor and...
Everyone's like, the White Lotusisn't funny.
I'm like, stuff like that isfunny.
SPEAKER_01 (01:38:10):
Yeah.
So.
SPEAKER_04 (01:38:13):
tragic ending for
our Chelsea and Rick.
And the bodies, the body that wefound in the water at the
beginning of the season, thatwas one of the security guards.
So we had the two securityguards that were shot in that
kerfuffle.
That's how our poor Chelsea getsshot.
And it just, it was so sad.
At least she got her donutbefore she got shot.
She was like, will you get me adonut?
(01:38:34):
So then Rick runs over and getsher the donut while he's running
off.
And I love how she's runningafter him and still, she still
took a bite of it.
UNKNOWN (01:38:40):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (01:38:41):
It just is
interesting to me that, I don't
know, it felt kind of like hercharacter for me didn't get
quite as much of the ending.
Even though she died, I feltlike she didn't get quite as
much of the ending as maybe Iwould have liked to have her.
She just kind of suddenly, she'sthere laying on the ground.
That's what happens when youtake your
SPEAKER_04 (01:39:01):
life and you...
put it in the hands of anotherperson.
She was basically letting Rickdictate her decisions, her
choices.
So I think that was almost likesymbolism.
SPEAKER_00 (01:39:11):
Yeah.
But at the same time, she endsup, does have a lasting effect
on somebody from the show, onanother character.
And then we get to, so we getover to the Ratliff family.
Yes.
Which we kind of started talkingabout that at the beginning of
the show, but then got off toRick.
But to me, that moment was, ofthe pina coladas.
(01:39:34):
was the most like rah of theentire like that once we got to
the end of the episode and rickwas sitting there looking at his
who he found out to be his dad iknew what was going to happen he
was going to go take his gun hewas going to shoot him getting a
shootout people were going todie right i knew that that was
going to happen but honestly heokay so the dad has finally
(01:39:55):
decided after talking to everyfamily member in the rattler
family that he's just going tokill all of them except for one
SPEAKER_04 (01:40:01):
except for one
SPEAKER_00 (01:40:02):
because one of them
gave him the answer that he
wanted
SPEAKER_04 (01:40:04):
well Well,
basically, you're getting way
ahead of yourself.
SPEAKER_00 (01:40:07):
I know.
There's so much to unpack withthis.
SPEAKER_04 (01:40:09):
Let's rewind.
Rewind.
Okay, so back to Saxon andChelsea.
We'll go ahead and talk aboutthem since they're connected.
I feel like Saxon ended up beingthe character that honestly
surprised me the most.
Do I think he still has crappyways?
Yeah, but do I think that hewants to try to have more
(01:40:29):
purpose in life?
I think it was clear he does bythe end of that episode.
I think the...
event between him and hisbrother, his interactions with
Chelsea...
I think it actually made him doa little soul searching no one's
perfect he's still gonna I'msure behave in certain ways he
ended up honestly being like themost normal like of all the
siblings at the end which iscrazy to me but a lot of people
(01:40:52):
are like oh was he in love withChelsea I don't think so I think
at first she was like his whitewhale because she was rejecting
him turning him down it made himmore interested but then I think
he actually like she caught himout for better or worse correct
you're soulless and I think thatlike got to him a little bit and
then And I watched an interviewwith Amy– is there Amy Lou Wood,
(01:41:13):
the girl that plays Chelsea?
And she was like, oh, that– shestill wants to be with Rick.
She doesn't like Saxon in thatway.
But the reason why when she washelping him in the previous
episode and she kind of pulledback was that Saxon was actually
starting to see who she was andshe wasn't used to that.
And I think it's clear that evenafter he sees– chelsea reunite
(01:41:34):
with rick that he continues toread the books that we do have
some character growth there whatdo you think about saxon i truly
think that there's a little bitlike it's not some major
character he'll turn change buthe's trying to be different
SPEAKER_00 (01:41:49):
i think all three of
the kids came away from this
with a little bit moreunderstanding of who they are
for better or worse yeah um So
SPEAKER_04 (01:41:58):
do you buy it that
Saxon is wanting
SPEAKER_00 (01:42:01):
to have a better
purpose?
I buy that he has going to giveit a shot.
Now, is it going to stick?
Who knows?
Yeah.
But I think what he's going tofind out when they get back to
North Carolina and the falloutof what's going on with his dad
and the company is going tomaybe, it's either going to push
him to become worse version ofhimself or it's going to push
him towards where Chelsea kindof tried to position him because
(01:42:25):
he said I'm nothing without thisjob and I'm nothing without you
and she called him soullessthose two things have really
struck in me as thecounterpoints to who he is going
to be in the future is he goingto continue to be that soulless
person or is he going to try andmake something of himself and
we're never going to get to seeit and that's the beauty of
SPEAKER_04 (01:42:45):
it write your own
ending so that brings us to
Saxon and Lachlan now I'vealways said and my therapist
says that that I am an extremepeople pleaser I'm not that big
of a people pleaser Lachlan tookpeople pleasing to the boss
level do you buy it that that Ido think he has people pleasing
tendencies but are you still areyou buying that that was the
(01:43:07):
reason why he chose to do thethings he did with his the
service of his brother in thatmoment that drunken pilled up
evening on the boat
SPEAKER_00 (01:43:17):
I buy that that is
how he's reconciled it in his
mind
SPEAKER_04 (01:43:20):
that's a good answer
Yeah.
(01:43:42):
try to be somebody for all ofhis siblings and his parents
because he is I do think he is apeople pleaser but I think
there's some deeper seatedseated stuff that's going on but
again which we'll never know
SPEAKER_00 (01:43:54):
yeah I think that
that conversation they had there
about the incident and knowinghow guys operate is the last
time they'll ever talk
SPEAKER_04 (01:44:02):
speaking
SPEAKER_00 (01:44:03):
it so it's gone
SPEAKER_04 (01:44:04):
have you seen now
all the TikToks with Lachlan and
the baby I'm a giver
SPEAKER_00 (01:44:11):
you sent me a couple
does.
That was pretty good.
SPEAKER_04 (01:44:15):
So that brings us...
Oh, we'll circle back to Lachlanand Tim in a minute because
that's when it rounds back.
So that brings us to Lachlan andPiper.
No! So they stayed in a dirtymonastery with kids with no
purpose?
Buddhism! So we had the wholething where Lachlan's like,
(01:44:35):
maybe I'm going to stay too.
And you could see that Pipersort of made a face.
I thought it was because Piperrealized like...
It's no, I'm no longer special.
And I think that was part of it.
Like that when she heard Lachlansay that.
But I also think that, and youweren't sure at first, but I
think they kind of confirmedthat that Piper was trying so
(01:44:58):
hard to be special to break awayfrom her family, but I think she
did get the ick.
SPEAKER_00 (01:45:03):
Yeah, no, I think
when she started her monologue
about saying the reasons why shewas deciding not to go to the
monastery, I wasn't entirelysure she was being sincere, and
it wasn't just she was decidedthat because Lachlan was into it
suddenly she wasn't into it butby the end of that monologue
when she got emotional about itI was pretty clear that that was
(01:45:26):
genuinely her having therealization and realization that
and and I do think genuinelyhaving a realization that she
needs that.
luxury stuff that she's used toand she kind of hates herself
for it but at the same time butshe's also recognizes I can't do
without this stuff even if itmakes me sick that I can't do
(01:45:47):
without this stuff
SPEAKER_04 (01:45:48):
I feel like Lachlan
was only going to stay not just
the people pleasing thing butbecause of everything that had
happened it was an avoidance
SPEAKER_01 (01:45:56):
yeah
SPEAKER_04 (01:45:56):
kind of thing going
on with him like almost maybe he
might have actually benefitedfrom being at a place like that
again we'll never know I have tosay that one of the things that
I like in shows is whencostuming outfit wardrobe is
important and that wasabsolutely reflected in Piper
(01:46:18):
accepting like you know I hatethat I'm just like this princess
and I'm like you know what girlI am a princess so hair flip
what did Victoria say it wouldbe offensive for us not to spend
the money so
SPEAKER_01 (01:46:30):
that you enjoy it
SPEAKER_04 (01:46:31):
in that moment you
see timothy's face making like
oh gosh i'm gonna have to killmy daughter now to add her to
the kill list anyway back to thecostuming if you notice at the
start of the season piper wasalways in a very flowy white
yellow pastel type of colors andclothing like very kind of just
(01:46:51):
you know nothing nothing flashystill nice clothes but not very
simple and After that, she has adark blue two-piece outfit on.
You see her shopping to getjewelry with Victoria.
And then the next morning, shehas a maroon dress on, I think
with like pink shoes.
And then on the boat ride home,a very loud like kind of orange
(01:47:14):
floral print type of outfit.
And that was 100%.
an intentional clothing choicefor Piper I truly believe that
so it's little details like thatthat make me like shows like
this I know like certain stuffthat you search for with
cinematography from like acamera thing I look to that and
like clothing I'm always lookingat like the stylist what the
(01:47:34):
wardrobe people do and I reallyreally appreciated that and I
also can I just say too thatthat moment when Piper's like
crying and Victoria's likegiving Timothy the thumbs up
that took me out it was so Sogood.
So that brings us to Timothyrealizing like, oh my gosh.
(01:47:55):
So we have– Timothy has one moreconversation with our people
pleaser Lachlan and he's like, could you live without– You
know, all the finer things inlife.
Could you live with nothing?
And Lachlan's like, yeah.
Do you think Lachlan said yesbecause he thought that's what
his dad wanted to hear?
Or do you really think Lachlanwas serious?
SPEAKER_00 (01:48:12):
I think he was
serious because how would
Lachlan know what answer Tim waslooking for?
SPEAKER_04 (01:48:18):
That's true.
SPEAKER_00 (01:48:19):
In that moment,
because he hasn't necessarily...
Remember, we've been seeingeverything Tim's going through,
and we've seen theseconversations from his...
None of the
SPEAKER_04 (01:48:26):
family is good at
vibe-checking
SPEAKER_00 (01:48:27):
their daddy.
Yeah, from his perspective, butwe haven't necessarily...
They never showed us Lachlanspecifically listening in on
these conversations he's beenhaving with the other family
members.
So I do believe that he wasn'treally putting much thought to
it.
It was kind of like anoffhanded, like, yeah, I
probably could.
SPEAKER_04 (01:48:46):
See, I feel like he
kind of...
I can see that point of view, but I also think there was part
of it that he...
Even though he didn't know whathis dad was going through, why
is his dad asking him thisquestion?
So I think he was like, yeah, sure.
I think as a people pleaser, notto that level, but as a people
pleaser myself, I could seemyself being like, yeah, even
though I know that I would belike Piper and food's not
SPEAKER_00 (01:49:09):
even organic.
If you're taking it from amorality standpoint, the answer
to the question is yes.
If you want to be a good andpious person, you should be able
to answer yes to that question.
So maybe that's people pleasingfrom even a societal standpoint.
SPEAKER_04 (01:49:23):
So Lachlan's safe
from Timothy's group kill
SPEAKER_00 (01:49:28):
list.
He's going to make pina coladasfor the family.
He's going to put the poisonfruit nuts into it.
SPEAKER_04 (01:49:33):
Which that finally
came back into play.
We all knew it would.
They mentioned that don't eatthis fruit.
It's poisonous.
We've had the blender with Saxonmaking his drinks.
I think that was somethingcollectively from all the wild
theories out there, the onething everyone agreed on, this
SPEAKER_00 (01:49:46):
is going to come
into play.
So of all the tension in all theseason, the scene where he's
handing them out to everybody,is the most tension and it even
gets worse when they actuallystart drinking it.
SPEAKER_04 (01:49:58):
But hey, when they
were doing their toast, Victoria
finally realized what country
SPEAKER_00 (01:50:02):
she was in.
To
SPEAKER_04 (01:50:03):
Thailand!
SPEAKER_00 (01:50:05):
And so what?
It
SPEAKER_04 (01:50:07):
was intense.
I was sweating.
SPEAKER_00 (01:50:08):
It's unclear to me
how much you have to drink to
get sick because as far as wecan tell, no one got sick with
the amount that they got exceptfor Lachlan.
SPEAKER_04 (01:50:20):
Lachlan didn't get a
pina colada.
Tim was like, you're not 21 yet.
Go get a coke and I like the wayhe said it in the southern voice
go get a coke because bravoagain for their North Carolina
accents love it I agree withyou.
It was way more tense.
We knew what was going to happenwith Rick in the shooting.
We knew that.
Obviously, any scene that GaryGregg is in is going to be
(01:50:40):
tense.
That was just because it lastedso long.
It had the circle.
It panned to each family member.
SPEAKER_00 (01:50:46):
I mean, each of them
drank like multiple times before
Tim finally stopped.
And it was like the coconut milkis bad and starts grabbing the
drinks and smacking them out ofpeople's hands.
SPEAKER_04 (01:50:56):
Well, it was...
one of those things where i dofeel like people kind of kind of
like fact checked the show alittle bit and like oh you would
have gotten way sicker but againi'm just gonna say it's a show
it's tv If you notice, I feellike Victoria drank the most.
She kind of made a face.
Then she started to throw itback.
Piper took a little sip.
It really wasn't until Timothywas staring at Saxon, who was
(01:51:17):
about to take sip number two,and he knocked it out of Saxon's
hand and then told everybodyelse to put it down.
The coconut milk is bad! That'sall I'm going to think about
now.
And I guess there's some whitelotus creamer, and everyone's
like, we're not going to thinkof this the same
SPEAKER_01 (01:51:30):
now.
SPEAKER_04 (01:51:32):
Definitely, I feel
like Jason Isaacs And Parker
Posey both need Emmy noms.
SPEAKER_00 (01:51:37):
They were great.
They
SPEAKER_04 (01:51:38):
were great.
Like Jason Isaacs, like I'm gladhe ended up not having a panic
attack.
That was nice.
But just my dude, like the scenewhere Piper was saying she
couldn't live at the monastery, you could just see his like
throat seizing.
So that brings us to the nextstep.
We have the– the coconut milk isbad.
(01:52:01):
We're not going to drink thestuff.
But he leaves the blender notfully cleaned out on the
counter.
Now, I have seen some peoplethat are like, why would Timothy
not wash it out?
Guys, they're rich.
I doubt the man has ever washeda dish a day in his life.
So at that point, you and Iknow.
We're like, Lachlan's going tobe drinking out of that blender.
Cue the next morning, and oldLachy– He's like, I'm going to
(01:52:25):
make my protein shake orwhatever.
By
SPEAKER_00 (01:52:28):
the way, yeah, and
he chooses not to wash out the
blender before.
Now, I want to address thisfront and forward.
As someone who was at one pointa teenage boy, and anybody out
there who is a parent of teenageboys, because I've seen people
on the internet go, why would henot rinse the blender out before
he uses it?
And again, I just want to say,the reason is, teenage boy...
(01:52:51):
You don't need an explanation.
If you've been around him, youknow why he wouldn't do it.
SPEAKER_04 (01:52:56):
And there's other
reasons you could say, too,
besides that.
I think that's the main one isthat maybe he thought Saxon had
already used it and was just notgoing to wash it out.
But I think the main thing is,like you said, teenage boy.
I mean, didn't you at one pointhave a coffee mug that you would
only wash like once a week as agrown man?
SPEAKER_00 (01:53:13):
Once a week?
SPEAKER_04 (01:53:15):
I don't know.
SPEAKER_00 (01:53:19):
So he makes himself
a little protein shake, has a
couple drinks of it out by thepool.
SPEAKER_04 (01:53:23):
And then gets sick.
SPEAKER_00 (01:53:25):
Gets real sick.
Pukes.
Sees God.
SPEAKER_04 (01:53:28):
We thought it was...
I'm
SPEAKER_00 (01:53:30):
glad
SPEAKER_04 (01:53:31):
that they didn't...
kill him off but we thought Ithought he was gone like I was
like oh crap but
SPEAKER_00 (01:53:36):
so the family goes
to breakfast except for Tim who
sleeps in Tim comes out andfinds him it's unclear to me if
Tim really did anything or if
SPEAKER_04 (01:53:43):
well I think he saw
that Lockie had used had made
SPEAKER_00 (01:53:47):
it
SPEAKER_04 (01:53:47):
Yeah, I don't think
he was calling for help, but
then Lachlan kind of woke upfrom it and puked some more.
So I don't know if he would havegotten help.
Was this at the same timeoccurring as all the bullets?
Were the other family memberseating just breakfast,
blissfully
SPEAKER_00 (01:54:01):
unaware?
Yeah, just blissfully unaware asthey would be.
I think, to me, it seems veryclear that what actually
happened was Tim never usedenough to actually kill anybody,
but they just all would havegotten really sick like Lachlan
did.
Yeah.
It seems to me like you've gotto be a little bit more
concentrated to actually get itdone.
to kill you
SPEAKER_04 (01:54:18):
and I think that
point was it wasn't where he
knocked the thing out ofSaxton's hand Timothy like I
think that point where he waslike crap I can't do this I
think it was the what changedhim be like you know what maybe
we'll be okay with seeing hiskid actually almost die yeah the
one that wasn't gonna take itbecause we have their little
send-off they all get on theboat and they get their phones
(01:54:40):
back he's like hey Some stuffhappens Things are going to
change And a lot of people arereally disappointed That we
didn't get to see the reactionsI'm not, I'm fine with it We
never were going to get to seeit I never thought we were going
to get to see it If you want tosee what a reaction is like to
losing a lot of money May Idirect you to Schitt's Creek You
like Victoria, you're going toabsolutely love Moira Rose.
SPEAKER_01 (01:55:04):
Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00 (01:55:05):
The White Lotus is
you meet your characters on the
boat to the resort, and you saygoodbye to your characters on
the boat leaving the resort, andthat's it.
You're not getting anythingelse.
SPEAKER_04 (01:55:14):
Sometimes you get
the through characters, like we
got to see what Belinda was upto.
Gary Gregg has been a throughcharacter.
So let's go ahead and talk aboutBelinda.
Basically, she has come fullcircle.
So we had on the last episode,Gary Gregg was like, hey, I'm
going to give you this money.
I heard you want to start abusiness.
Basically, hush money.
Like, don't say what I'm doing.
And she's like, I can't acceptthis.
(01:55:36):
That's blood money.
And her son, I mean, her sonwasn't wrong.
He was like...
You're going to have to takethis money or he'll kill you
either way.
So he wasn't incorrect.
But then her son's like, let'ssee what we can get out of him.
And he asked her, how much didhe ask for?
Like$5 million?
SPEAKER_00 (01:55:52):
Yeah.
So the original offer was$100,000.
And then he countered with$5million.
SPEAKER_04 (01:55:56):
Yeah.
And Greg Gary gave it to her.
Yep.
And then she decided, I'm notgoing to open my spa.
I'm just going to enjoy sometime being rich.
So she had hooked up with the, Idon't remember his name, the guy
that.
SPEAKER_00 (01:56:08):
Yeah, we didn't get
a ton of him.
He was one of the othermasseurs.
And they had talked aboutopening up a spa
SPEAKER_04 (01:56:13):
together.
She literally said the samething that Tanya said to her in
season one.
Like, my circumstances havechanged.
And that is a full circle momentthat even money can change the
best of us.
Those of us with goodintentions.
That being said...
I feel like you and I haveclocked Belinda from, like, the
get.
Like, I never thought she was abad person, but I do think she
(01:56:34):
never liked Tanya.
She was using Tanya, too, inseason one.
So the people that act likeBelinda was, like, some special
angelic creature that did nowrong, I thought she had an
entitlement...
that Tanya needed to help her.
I mean, what Tanya did to herwas crappy.
She had promised
SPEAKER_00 (01:56:50):
her she was going to
do this stuff.
Leading somebody on, yes.
But allowing yourself to be ledon by some flaky, clearly flaky
person.
And feel like you were
SPEAKER_04 (01:56:57):
owed that money,
too.
SPEAKER_00 (01:56:58):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:56:59):
I don't know.
I never thought Belinda wasperfect, so I think it makes
perfect sense.
Do you think we'll see the newBelinda, the guy that she did
the same to?
No,
SPEAKER_00 (01:57:09):
I don't think we'll
see any more of him.
I don't know either.
It left me, and we had thisconversation off air, and I
think you don't necessarilyagree with me.
It actually left Gary Gregg in abetter light for me.
I have seen
SPEAKER_04 (01:57:23):
some people say that
and agree with you online.
SPEAKER_00 (01:57:24):
Because he could
have, first of all, just killed
her straight up.
Without even offering hushmoney.
The
SPEAKER_03 (01:57:31):
murderer didn't kill
somebody.
Yay!
SPEAKER_00 (01:57:33):
And when they came
back and put it in his face,
hey, instead of$100,000, give us$5 million.
He could have just killed them.
He had them in his house.
It seems to me like his intentwas never to kill anybody.
He just wants to live the lifethat he has.
SPEAKER_04 (01:57:48):
I think he is still
a bad, slimy person.
SPEAKER_00 (01:57:51):
I'm not saying he's
not.
SPEAKER_04 (01:57:53):
I know what you're
saying, but I think that was a
last resort thing.
I don't want to kill thesepeople because that's going to
draw attention And then I'mgoing to have to go somewhere
else.
So I'm not going to like I'veseen some people go as far as
saying, you know, I know you'renot saying this is that maybe he
got redemption.
SPEAKER_00 (01:58:07):
No,
SPEAKER_04 (01:58:08):
absolutely no
redemption.
But I think
SPEAKER_00 (01:58:11):
looks like he's
going to get that threesome,
though.
SPEAKER_04 (01:58:13):
yeah will we see him
again in the future I don't know
he seems to be the one throughthe through character and I've
seen some other people that saythat they were so disappointed
that he didn't play a major rolein like the events that went
down he was never going to hewas just there as
SPEAKER_00 (01:58:29):
he's never played a
major role in any of any of the
seasons he's always just beenthere on the sidelines
SPEAKER_04 (01:58:34):
yeah being creepy
SPEAKER_00 (01:58:35):
um so how
SPEAKER_04 (01:58:36):
much you want to bet
I can throw a football over the
nose coach would have put me inthe fourth quarter we've been
state No
SPEAKER_00 (01:58:43):
doubt
SPEAKER_04 (01:58:44):
in my mind.
(01:59:09):
They've all done crappy things.
But at the end of the day, I dotruly believe that there is love
there.
You can love people and stillhave toxic dynamics.
And I think that Carrie Coon, another wonderful actress, I
feel like she knocked it out ofthe park as Laurie.
They were all saying what theyliked about the trip.
And Laurie's realization at theend in her little monologue, I
(01:59:31):
felt like that was reallyheartfelt.
And I felt like that...
Jacqueline and Kate wereactually like, oh, wow, you
know, too.
And now they have the addedtrauma that they witnessed the
shooting.
So that's definitely going tokeep them as friends.
I mean, did you think I neverthought the friendship I thought
I thought their story was goingto end exactly how it did.
They were going to move on.
What how did you think that
SPEAKER_00 (01:59:48):
was?
No, that went that went very, very much like I thought at the
beginning and it played out theend of this was going to be a
situation of these friends.
They're all fake with eachother.
They're going to come in.
They're going to like eachother.
They're going to go through somecrap.
They're going to get mad at eachother.
And then before they leave, they're going to make makeup,
whether it's real or false.
And I think this was a littlebit more of a genuine makeup.
(02:00:10):
And I think that theirrelationship going forward is
going to be a little bit moregenuine than when we found them.
I do think there was growth thattook place.
SPEAKER_04 (02:00:18):
They're still going
to talk about each other.
SPEAKER_00 (02:00:19):
But they're still
going to talk shit on each
other.
And that's just how it goes.
SPEAKER_04 (02:00:23):
You said a bad word.
SPEAKER_00 (02:00:25):
I'll put me in jail.
SPEAKER_04 (02:00:27):
Well, I do like how
everyone's like, not Carrie
Coon, Lori told Jacqueline thather face was pretty and
Jacqueline just lit up.
Now, I got to say, I'm going toaddress this because I've taken
some crap.
Some other people in line havetaken some crap.
What Jacqueline did was a crappyfriendship thing, trying to have
(02:00:47):
the power, wanting to be likethe hot one.
is just the whole dynamics of itI'm never I didn't say that
she's a great person when I saidI kind of agreed with what she
was saying about Laurie I standby that that was the previous
episode she was like at somepoint you gotta look when you're
a you know you're the victim ofyour own decision making and I
felt like that was illustratedlike that Laurie while we love
(02:01:10):
her as a character she madehorrible decisions in an episode
she went off with those guys sheaccepted drinks from them not
knowing where they came from andshe went to his apartment like
she She could have.
And I think Lori kind ofrealized like, oh, crap, I do.
I am the victim of my baddecisions.
So I would like to say that, like everyone back off that.
(02:01:31):
There you go.
And that brings us to the otherpoint.
The robbery ended up being a bigfat nothing burger for the most
part.
It was never about the robbery,y'all.
It was never about it.
SPEAKER_00 (02:01:41):
If anything, all the
robbery was was to serve the
character of Gatok.
SPEAKER_04 (02:01:46):
Was that his name,
Gatok?
SPEAKER_00 (02:01:47):
Are we saying it
right?
Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_04 (02:01:49):
If not, apologies.
SPEAKER_00 (02:01:50):
And his growth.
Yeah, the little devil and angelshoulder.
I say growth in air quotes, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (02:01:54):
Everyone's like,
what was the point of Mook?
The point of Mook was to, again, she was kind of like the...
almost the devil in a way.
Maybe she thinks she's doinggood, but she basically told
him, I'm not interested ifyou're not ambitious or
something.
Do you think she genuinely likeshim or likes the security that
(02:02:14):
he could provide her in a betterjob?
I
SPEAKER_00 (02:02:16):
don't think that she
would be hanging around him and
pushing him to be ambitious ifshe wasn't into him a little
bit.
But ultimately, she's seekingthat security that comes along
with somebody who can be a wageearner and That's what he did,
and that's why she was pushinghim.
SPEAKER_04 (02:02:34):
I think that she's
still going to break his heart
ultimately, and was it worth itto sacrifice your values and
your integrity?
Because at the end of the day,the world's worst security guard
decided, I'm going to land methe girl and land me the job.
And
SPEAKER_03 (02:02:49):
he
SPEAKER_04 (02:02:50):
did.
And he did.
Turned around, fired that gun.
SPEAKER_03 (02:02:53):
Shot Rick.
Shot
SPEAKER_04 (02:02:54):
Rick, and he gets to
be the security guard for the
owner of the hotel.
We see him with the shades.
I hope it was worth it forboring old Mook.
A lot of people loved hercharacter or thought she was
really boring.
I have nothing against theactress, but, I mean, I'm not
going to say Mook was a boringcharacter, but she was a boring
person on screen.
(02:03:14):
Like, she was just there toserve his storyline perfectly.
And I think like you and I havethis conversation.
I feel like it was intentionalto put that actress in there
because she is very famous inother countries.
And that was to get some eyes onthe show.
But her character was nevermeant to be anything more than a
boring plot for him.
The world's worst securityguard.
I
SPEAKER_00 (02:03:33):
would be interested
if like we ever get to the White
Lotus season eight or nine orsomething like that.
And they pop in.
going to as now the new ownersof the White Lotus because
they've somehow weaseled theirway into that whole thing.
That would be pretty funny.
SPEAKER_04 (02:03:52):
I don't know.
It was just fine.
It wasn't worth it for him to doit because he was even like, I'm
just such a passive person.
We'll have to see.
We'll have to see.
We probably never will see.
Choose your own adventure.
SPEAKER_01 (02:04:03):
Am
SPEAKER_04 (02:04:05):
I leaving anything
out?
Oh, Fabian.
In the past two seasons, thehotel managers have had much
more of a role He didn't.
Now, hardly anyone wanted tohear him sing.
Did he get shot or did he justfall into the water?
I
SPEAKER_00 (02:04:19):
think he just fell
in the water.
SPEAKER_04 (02:04:20):
When all that went
down.
SPEAKER_00 (02:04:22):
Yeah, I just think
he fell in the water.
I don't know why everybodyexpects each season to be the
same formula.
I know, I'm glad it's not.
It shouldn't be that way.
If there wasn't a role for themanager of the hotel, a major
role this season, then therewasn't a role for him.
So I don't have a problem withthat either.
There were plenty of interestingcharacters this season to watch
(02:04:42):
go through their journeys, and Ididn't need the manager
specifically.
SPEAKER_04 (02:04:45):
I've seen some
people that are like, oh, why
didn't the cops show up?
What was going on?
I was like, we were never goingto see all the after effects of
that.
UNKNOWN (02:04:51):
No, no.
SPEAKER_04 (02:04:51):
Would I have liked
to have seen Saxon's reaction to
everything?
Yeah, but they...
SPEAKER_00 (02:04:57):
Hey, listen, for all
we know, he never finds out what
happens to Chelsea becausethey're going to keep that stuff
under lock and key anyways.
And names aren't going to getthrown about
SPEAKER_04 (02:05:07):
in
SPEAKER_00 (02:05:09):
that manner,
especially in that country where
the police are going to come in.
They're not going to speak thesame language.
So even if they knew somethingwent down and saw cops, they're
not necessarily going to knowanything that happened.
SPEAKER_04 (02:05:20):
One of the best
images that I saw of the closing
was the kids before the show andafter the show.
We had Piper with the headphoneson.
We had Saxon with thesunglasses.
And then we kind of had Lachlan.
You see Piper, no shades.
And then we've got Lachlan withthe sunglasses on, kind of like
almost like speak no evil, seeno evil.
(02:05:41):
And then we've got Saxon withthe book.
Yep.
it's almost like role reversalif you will for some of them and
then I did do you read about thescene that was cut about
SPEAKER_00 (02:05:55):
Piper and I think
I've read about like three
scenes that have been cut atthis point I
SPEAKER_04 (02:05:59):
guess like Piper and
Belinda's son did hook up but
they cut the scene entirely likebecause she decided after she
had the epiphany about who shewas that maybe Saxon was right
and she should like lose hervirginity I think unless we had
another episode it was a smartchoice creatively to cut that
scene that would have been justThe
SPEAKER_00 (02:06:17):
finale episode was
already way longer than all the
other episodes anyways.
So, yeah, I think that wasprobably a good cut to make
there.
SPEAKER_04 (02:06:25):
Anyhow, I like the
finale.
I thought it was great.
Very well done.
Was it predictable in places?
Sure.
But for everybody that expectedall these insane things to
happen, I feel like you're justnot, like...
Go back and watch the otherseasons, I guess.
SPEAKER_00 (02:06:44):
How would you rank
the seasons?
I was about to ask you the samequestion.
Rank them.
SPEAKER_04 (02:06:47):
I'm still going to
go with this is a very unpopular
opinion.
But there's something about thecreativity.
And I like storytelling.
I didn't find it boring.
I like the slow burn.
Season one for me still ranks astop.
I'm going to throw another one.
I'm going to put season three inmy two slot.
And then, again, I did notdislike season two, but it's the
(02:07:09):
weakest of the three seasons.
So I go one, three, two.
SPEAKER_00 (02:07:13):
That's my order as
well.
All
SPEAKER_04 (02:07:16):
right.
SPEAKER_00 (02:07:17):
Thank you all for
tuning in to this Supercut.
And we will be back with you.
with a stacked July for TVshows.
SPEAKER_02 (02:07:25):
Yes.
I just don't think at this ageI'm meant to live an
uncomfortable life.
Buddhism.
Piper, no.
