It is the podcast about the TVthat we watch.
I am Daniel.
She is Hope.
This is episode 105 and we havecompleted the test.
We raved about chilies and thenwe said we should give
Applebee's another shot.

Now we didn't eat inside Applebee's.
You need to preface that.
I'm kind of glad I didn't.
So

we missed out on all the BO flavors that come along
with that.
We didn't have the

SPEAKER_02 (00:43):
food until quite a few hours later, which can't
impact it.
Anyways,

SPEAKER_01 (00:50):
we got Applebee's and it sucked.

SPEAKER_02 (00:52):
It was not good.
And we had had, I think the lasttime we ate at Applebee's, we
did eat inside.
It was in December.
It was like Christmas Eve, Eveor something.
Yeah.
And we had, I had that reindeerdrink that was like pure sugar
that I got.
It was like reindeer punch orsomething.
I think you just had beer.
So maybe that masked like thefeeling of the food.

And I think we were just so likestressed from the last minute
shopping that we just werehungry.
And we hadn't had theamazingness of Chili's, minus
the Chili's Airport, which islike a limited menu, right?
Chili's to go.
It's like Chili's to go.
Which, you know, if I lived nearthat airport, I would be like,
let me do security so I can getthis food.

probably have a Chili's outside the airport
around there.

Likely.
I forget that places haveamenities around here.
But the only good thing I'mgoing to say about Applebee's
was their packaging, like theway they packaged our to-go
items.

They had the wing, the boneless chicken.
Not wings.
Boneless chicken.
Oh, my gosh.
Boneless wings.
In a package.
And then, like, the chips intheir own thing so they didn't
get soggy.
And what else we got?
I don't even remember what elsewe

got.
You were raving about theirpackaging.
You were like, at least I lovehow they got it.

SPEAKER_01 (02:05):
Well, they separated it out.
Everything is in its nice littleplace.
And so it doesn't get allsmeared all over the place.

SPEAKER_02 (02:11):
That's about the only good thing I have to say
about it.

SPEAKER_01 (02:13):
Correct.

SPEAKER_02 (02:14):
It tasted bad eating it.
It tasted bad after.
It gave me a stomachache.
It didn't hit, and it was such aletdown.
It was like going from a fancyhotel to a Motel 6.
Not that I would considerChili's to be top-tier elite
dining, but we did return toChili's.

SPEAKER_01 (02:36):
Yes.
We couldn't let the taste ofApplebee's remain on our
tongues.
We had to cleanse it.
So we went back to the sameChili's and had a very similar
experience.
Food was excellent.

SPEAKER_02 (02:51):
Yeah, no notes.
It was a very stressful weeklast week.
So much going on.
So I don't think, I can't tellyou the last time we went out to
dinner on a Friday night when weweren't on vacation.

SPEAKER_01 (03:02):
It's been a long time.

It has been a long time.
Because the last time we didChili's was after we were
running an errand in the middleof the day.

Yeah.

It's been a long time.
That used to be like our thing.
We got to eat.
The one restaurant that locallythat we would go out to eat
though, like burned down.
Like that had my good queso.
You remember that?
Yes.

I think that was like right before the pandemic.
So it wasn't one of the, like itliterally like something
happened with like a kitchenfire.
And yeah, there's, unless it'slike, which I know you like
B-dubs, but you wouldn't standB-dubs as much if it wasn't like
the only option.

Correct.
And also I don't put B-dubs inthe same category of restaurant
as Chili's.

It's more, more bar food specific.

Even though what I'm ordering at Chili's is bar food.
It's like, Bar food raised alittle bit.
Chili's is just, it's the bestchain restaurant.
You know how we have the bestthing going show-wise?
It's the best chain

No, I have a better idea.
We're going to rank them.
So we've got three that arefresh in our mind.
We're going to rank restaurants.

So Applebee's, B-Dub's.
And Chili's.
And then every week, every timewe eat a new one, we're going to
add it to the list.

I ate at Bob Evans recently.

Bob Evans is not in the same category as these
restaurants.

SPEAKER_02 (04:19):
It's a chain restaurant.

SPEAKER_01 (04:20):
You have to be able to buy alcohol there.

So like a bar

and grill type setup.
Mid-tier bar and grillrestaurants.
So right now, I believe our listis Chili's, B-Dubs, Applebee's.

Yeah, we never eat in B-dubs either, though.
We always get it takeout.
I'm going to say probably I'llagree with you based on how
terrible Applebee's tasted.
Not even the dip that I got fromthere was good.

This list, to me, applies for takeout as well.

You say we only eat at B-Dubs for takeout.
I put Chili's above B-Dubs andApplebee's for takeout as well.
Because we got leftovers.

And I figured out how to use theair fryer to get those Southwest
egg rolls warmed up properly andcrispy.
And they were delicious.

I would still say, and I thinkprobably you would disagree with
me on this just because you'renot as into it as I am.
In my, I would put, because thelast time we had Olive Garden
was Valentine's Day.
We get to go.
I would put Olive Garden aboveB-dubs because I love me some
OGs.

I think we need, for this ranking, for this specific
ranking, I think we need to goback to Olive Garden to put it
on the list right now.

Oh, I didn't even notice.

And that's just, that really isbig for you because you are the
type of person that you used tobe like, again, Daniel always
thought he had to have some typeof steak, like heaven help us.
I feel like you never knew whenthe next steak was going to
come.
So you felt like you had to dothat every time at a restaurant,
even if it's like a crappysteak.

But yeah, I mean, I would eatthe cheese fries as an entree as
well.

But you have eaten cheese fries as an entree.

I used to get the Aussie cheesefries.
It's not a surprising statementfor you.

When I was like 90 pounds in high school, I would
get the Aussie cheese fries asmy entree because I could eat it
as my entree with norepercussions.

Times are different now.
Now I have to have like a funmeal that I look forward to on
the weekends usually.

And then Daniel's like, hey,where's our chicken?
And I was like, oh, they didn'tbring us the chicken, did they?
So then we got extra chicken.
And then, as you said, weordered extra Southwest Egg
Girls.
Those Southwest Egg Girls aretop tier.
And you know what?
They are vegetarian.
So I'm just going to considerthem healthy, air quotes.
They got some black beans in it.

And the way you– I alwaysthought they were fine in the
microwave.
You know how badly I want to saymicrowave?

Like the stupid TikTok.

But you figured out how to putthem in the air fryer.

I think they tasted even betterthan they did getting them at
our table.

that's what you want it is likethat's a That's a case of we're

For me, because like I didn't, I remember like Parks
and Rec.
I love Parks and Rec.
I didn't totally love that firstseason, but it was so short and
it was such a comedy.
I could get through it and thepacing didn't bug me.
And now it's one of those thingsthat now that I love Parks and
Rec so much, I go back and Ifind this like, even though they
made Leslie, they tried to makeher like a Michael Scott like
character.

I can go back and have like afondness for season one, but it
was never like, yeah, there'snothing I can think of that even
compares.

I feel like everybody, when they think about
iconic comeback moments insports history, that's one of

and they came back and it's likethat's like it's like the Super
Bowl of like sports with thisall right so Andor my biggest
problems with Andor season onewas pacing was awful I thought I
think they could have but Ithink you can't watch season two

without watching season one soI'm gonna clear it there on that
I think the way I would havefixed season one is I would have
done a shortened like I wouldhave had less episodes like
that's actually an example whereI'm like no we didn't need 12
episodes we could have like thetime he spent at the camp with
those people before it like allthat was so boring and the way
they would cut between thedifferent scenes of the

different characters I felt likethey fixed that in season two it
was a much the pacing was justbetter as a whole and at first
at first I was gonna have somebeef with the pacing in season
two but then it ended up makingsense and I'll tell you like
what the beef is here in aminute but they fixed the pacing
I felt like it was the way theyjust spurt and they go back and

right move by disney telling towrap it up because we we know
like how old cassian is we knowwhere we were time wise there's
only we know we've seen we'veseen the finale of Andor with
Rogue One we knew like the timewas compressed and there's only

move like for a storytellingpremise as well but it was
fantastic now my first because Iknow you're looking at me about
this and you want me to say itthe season season two starts
with a one year later time jumpand I was like okay you know a
lot of shows do that But that'swhat the format each, from my

understanding, Andor releasedthree episodes

per week.
Yeah, three episodes at a time.
It's kind of like each one iskind of a self-contained arc of
a story.
And in between each of those,this is a year time jump.

And at first I wasn't, I was like, well, come
on, what are they doing?
And then I'm like, I know I justcomplained about pacing and now
I'm criticizing.
That's not what I meant.
What I mean by that, and I wishif I had one thing that I would
have had them fix with seasonone or season two, with the
one-year time jumps is if theycould have sprinkled in a little
bit more flashbacks to make somerelationships a bit more

meaningful.
Like Bix and Cassian and or.
I know that they had a historyand a past based on what I saw
for season one.
I assume they'd probably begetting together.
I would have liked to haveseen...
them get to that point did theyjust automatically get back
together I would have liked tohave seen more from them and

speak on shows is I like to seeyearning I like to see build up
I've never been the type that isjived with like oh this is the
couple you're supposed to rootfor I don't know if the writers
for Andor are men or women butthis seems like a man wrote it

obviously I mean I got soemotional with their goodbye
that I even cried because I knowyou know what obviously happens
to his fate with Rogue One but Itold you I was never totally on
board with the two of them as acouple just because I didn't get
to see it.
I was like, oh, you're just toassume.

And I like to see that.
Now, the other couple that Iliked, I would call them the
what happens when the two worstpeople you think of get
together.
I would have liked to have alllike they had a little bit more
build and interaction.

I assumed if you're an Andorwatcher, you know who I'm
talking about when I say the twoworst people ever.
I would have liked to seen alittle bit more flashbacks of
maybe like their first kiss, butI guess they're never going to
be that couple.
But I felt like I got to seethem more as a couple than I did
what I would consider probablylike the main couple, which
again, Andor is not about theships.

So that's just my– thing withthe one year that gets on my
nerves I've watched other showsthat do that and it's like oh
these people are together nowand I'm like please I want to
see it and probably my guess isone of the episodes that I like
which was in that last set ofthree where you find out how
Luthan and is it Kila Clea howthey met was almost entirely a

flashback was one of my favoriteepisodes of the season

yeah and you know the more I've thought about it
that last just since we're hereand we'll just talk about that
episode

I feel like To do that in the last three sets,
after what they had just done inthe Gorman arc, and how they
ended that.
to then go into a flashbackepisode, I thought that was kind
of a bold choice.

I would agree with you if it had been a weekly
release to go from that, butbecause you knew you had two
more, I think it was less of abold choice.
Honestly, I feel like Cassian isless featured in those last
three episodes, but we've kindof got him to the point.
Yeah, he gets a movie.
So we needed to see what elsehappens.

Okay, so that's just going backto the season as a whole.
The one-year time jump thing didwork for when I realized exactly
what they were doing.
So again, my only beef was Ijust wish I could have seen a
little bit more thing becauseI'm a relationship.
Not just relationshipsromantically.
I like to see characters.

I like to get to know them alittle more.
I would have liked to have seenthat, but in terms of, like you
said, there was a way betterbalance.

We already knew that Mon Mothma was basically going
to sell her daughter for therebellion.
And can I just say that...
We all deserve at some pointjust to have a Mon Mothma level
crash out.

the way they did that song in the reception with
her just being like, well, screwit.
I'm going to get drunk.
I'm going to take all theseshots, dance around.
And she knows that her buddy isabout to die because he can't be
trusted.
So she knows all that.
She knows what she's done withher daughter.
She's clearly in a lovelessmarriage.
Still don't like my opinion ofher husband.

But then they had that musicgoing with other parts that were
very tense in the show.
Was that where Cassian, what washe doing at that point?

So that was when Cassian was coming back to that
wheat planet to save everybodybecause the Empire was doing the
inspection.

Yeah.

So they just used that music the whole time.
And I thought that wasbrilliantly done.
Do you have any thoughts on MonMothma crash out wedding?

SPEAKER_01 (21:31):
Yeah, that whole, like, that whole scene there at
the end of that episode to closeout the first arc was really,
like you said, just incrediblywell done.
And honestly, like...
most of this season was justlike

it was so good like i said i i i told daniel i was
like i'm gonna have to come onhere and i'm gonna have to say
you know what but you know whati wasn't wrong though because i
never said i said i might likeseason two but and or got good
like it's it's now that we haveseason two i i give it the

Are there people out there thatlike season one better than
season two?

I haven't seen.
I haven't really seen too muchtalk about that yet.
I think it's one of those thingswhere I haven't really looked a
lot on the internet post theseason ending last week.
So we'll see.

I'm on an Andor specific Reddit.
I think you would be very hardpressed to make a case that
season one is better than seasontwo.
And I enjoyed season one betterthan you did.

Oh, that episode was really, really good.
That's where the end of kind ofthe Gorman arc, very Cyril
focused.
It's intense.

I think I don't know if I wouldcall that one my favorite
episode.

So we have that whole big momentin the square where basically

the Empire showed up to incitean insurrection, more or less.

So they can mow him down and have a justification
for ripping the planet apart.

So he's walking around and it's just like he's
seeing what they're doing,what's going on, and he's just
almost like despondent like whathave I done what's going on and
you think just when you thinklike that he maybe he's gonna do
the right thing who does hefinally come face to face with

he sees Cassian

he sees Cassian and he just snaps they start
fighting and Cassian basicallylike who the heck are you and I
do believe that where Cyrilpointed the gun at him Before
Cassian even spoke to him, therewas a moment of hesitation.
Do you think that if– and then,of course, here's the spoiler

where Cassian's like, who areyou?
Somebody comes in, one of theGorman guys shoots Cyril.
Cyril's dead.
Do you think that he would have–pulled that trigger or do you
think he was thinking in thatmoment like do I really want to
do this because I think all therage of everything that he had
been through and then seeingCassian who he kind of blames

for his lot in life was allcoming out in that fight but I
feel like he I feel like he Hehesitated.

He had the opportunity.
He had him right there.
Cassian was on the ground.
He could have shot him rightthere and in that moment right
before he got shot.
And like you said, even beforeCassian delivered that
devastating line, he didn'tshoot.
And you have to wonder...
was he taking that moment torealize after the rage of

everything had fallen off ofhim, is this who I am?
Is this really what I want tobe?
Because up until that point, hehad been a law enforcement
officer and then at the Bureauand standards, but we'd never
really seen him be overtlyviolent and killer before.

So first of all, the way theymake tension in this show For a
show that we know what's goingto happen to the main
characters.

But we know all that entiretime.
We know Cassian's not going todie.
He can't.
But we didn't

know anything about Cyril.

We didn't know anything aboutCyril.
And so the way they brought hischaracter around and had his
arc.
And it's devastating to mebecause he's happy on Gormin.
I really feel like he foundsomething for himself on Gorman.
He felt important.

He liked it.
He didn't necessarily enjoy thehubbub of Coruscant.
He kind of liked being away fromit a little bit, being away from
his mother.
Because when he found out he hadto go back, he was upset.
He was upset.
And so just to me, he feels likehe's got a purpose and he feels
like he's found a place only tofind out that his purpose was
completely a lie and that hisplace isn't going to exist

(30:17):
anymore because the Empire isgoing to just destroy it.
And then, like you said, you getto that moment where you think,
oh, he's going to do it.
He's going to take up armsagainst the Empire, and instead
he reverts back to the guy hewas at the beginning of season
one, full of rage, and justhulks out on Cassian until that
very moment.

And it was just like...

So what do you think at the end, though?
Do you think Winnie held backbecause he had the perfect shot?

political, but where people makea choice, they align themselves
with a certain...

They made the wrong choice, but they're not brave
enough or bold enough to admitthat they did.

She basically laid down the lawwith his mother, and I feel like
that's the first time anyone'sever stood up for him and his
mother.
I think in her own twisted way,despite lying to them, what she
wanted the power and glory, shedid love him in a weird way, and
that's an example of how shedid.

Motha's speech.

I do think they were really goodepisodes.
And I think it's interesting tolook at, in my opinion, where
everybody ends up at the end ofthis series.

As all good media should, it reflects the time in
which it was made.
And I think Andor Season 2 wasvery reflective of the time that
we live in now.

Because he's not the real actor.
With Benjamin Bratt, who steppedin as Bail Organa.
Who, you know, did the job hedid.
But it never felt like BailOrgana to me.

She's working with his people.
And there's a mole in his group.

So not only do we have herfinishing the speech, this is
like our love actually momentwhere we have the two
characters, she and Cassianfinally meet because he comes to
rescue her.
And we find out who the mole is.
But then I feel like even aftershe gave that speech, Mon Mothma
didn't realize what it wasreally going to be like to truly

be part of the rebellion.
And that's where she had to makethat choice.
And it all comes down to...
her driver, who she knew wasspying on her.
They see her driver.
Her driver says something.
And what did Cassian do?
He just

shoots him.

He just shoots him.
Do you think there's somediscourse online?
Do you think the driver listenedto her speech and was going to
come around and help her?

think they intentionally put two shots of
the driver listening to herspeech, and then going to try
and get her to leave it up towhat were his actual intentions.
But Cassian was 100% correct.
If Cassian's mission is, I'vegot to get her out of here, and
she just got done.
He had no time.
He had no time, and he justsaid, who is that?

She said, that's my driver.
And he said, can we trust him?
And she said, he's a plant.
Bam.

And I think that just solidifies– the whole the
difficulties of being part ofthe rebellion is that like what
Luthan said like I'm gonna haveto live with the choices I make
and I'm gonna have to live withwhat I did that's what he said
in season one yeah in one of thefew good episodes of season one
that's what he said and it justyou see Cassian in that mindset

(36:40):
and I think Mon Mothma stillwasn't fully there yet.
She hasn't fully trusted Luthan,and for good reason.
But she wasn't as, while she waswanting to stop Palpatine, she
wasn't exactly part of therebellion, I feel like, until
that very moment that he got herout of there.
So, I just, that whole sequence,again, was some of the best TV

I've watched.
They really did a good job ofkeeping us on the edge of of our
seats.
And then also, before we getinto the last three, her Mon
Mothma's cousin, was hercousin's name Beth?

admit their feelings for eachother.
They kiss, which that might bethe first same-sex kiss between
two main adjacent characters.

In the Star Wars.
I know there was a, I think inRise of Skywalker.
They put it in the background ofRise of Skywalker.

Not even two seconds later.

And season two shows them tryingto come up with more of these
quote-unquote rebel alliance, soto speak, and what it took to
get there.
But that really annoyed me.
I didn't enjoy that.
What did you enjoy about?
Because I was so excited, andthen they just took it away from

Classic storytelling.
You finally get some more detailon those characters, and then
one of them gets it.
So that's just what happens.
So we get to the final three,and I'll go through.
Basically, Luthan has been doingall this stuff for years in the

I think there's some subcontext there, too, with the
way Luthom was talking to Cleabefore they bugged out that she
was talking about he's gotten alittle sloppy and he kind of had
a smile.
And I wonder if part of hissloppiness, so to speak, I'm
using air quotes there, wasactually intentional to keep the
Imperials looking his wayinstead of looking out into the

galaxy.

right because at that point we had discovered the
Death Star and got theinformation that we need you
know to proceed and I think youare I think you are exactly
right I don't think it wassloppy I think he realized what
was going on and he knew he wasgoing to go down and he made

She had to sneak in and gobasically off him because she
knew they would torture him toget that information out of him.
So it was doing so manysacrifices, even at the expense
of your own character, to gothrough with the rebellion and
to take down the Empire.

least amount of payoff at theend here because his payoff
comes in Rogue One.
He gets a whole movie.
We last see him getting on hisship to go do what we see him do
at the beginning of Rogue One.

And then we get the payoff for the other characters.
Before I say anything nice, Iremembered something that I do
have to call out that made mereally mad when we watched it.

always going to be saving peopleand that for the cause she's
what's holding him back

because he's ready to quit and leave and just go
off with her

and she's like you know I love you but like maybe
when this is all this is where Istarted to cry she's like when
this is all said and done we cando all the things we always
talked about doing and obviouslythat's sad and heart-wrenching
because we know we can't so shewhat she doing she is going off
back to that planet.

Well, she leaves.

We don't really know where shegoes until the very end.
And then at the end, there'sbeen a time jump because we see
her on the wheat planet whereshe started, where we saw her at
the beginning of the seasonbecause they had some people

We see the little droid playingwith other droids being happy.
And she's carrying a baby.

towards the end and they're allDemi's trying to get everybody

to turn on Taylor and freakingWhitney once again who I was
rooting for I was rooting foryou Whitney like turns her back
on Taylor now Taylor she is theOG the mom talk starter the
swinging scandal person she'shonestly I know that you're
gonna look at me and be likewhat the only one I would trust
she is said she does she ishonest to a fault she'll be like

yes we did this we did thisshe's like we all shower
together we all did these thingstogether she's just gonna always
say it even if it makes her lookbad she's always gonna tell the
truth I think she's the only onethat is not a liar And she's

And I'm just so mad thatWhitney's redemption arc got
kind of spoiled from this.

villains.
But one of the things theproducers did was super cruel.
They played pregnancy roulette,which apparently is a TikTok
trend where you get in a group,everyone pees on a stick and
maybe someone will be pregnantin the group.

were pregnant and didn't want toannounce it.

And that one of the girls hadfertility issues and I thought
that would not Netflix Hulu Ithought that was really cruel
