SPEAKER_01 (00:12):
Hey everybody and
welcome to We Watch TV.
It is the podcast about the TVthat we watch.
I am Daniel.
She is Hope.
This is episode 105 and we havecompleted the test.
We raved about chilies and thenwe said we should give
Applebee's another shot.
SPEAKER_02 (00:32):
Now we didn't eat
inside Applebee's.
You need to preface that.
I'm kind of glad I didn't.
So
SPEAKER_01 (00:40):
we missed out on all
the BO flavors that come along
with that.
We didn't have the
SPEAKER_02 (00:43):
food until quite a
few hours later, which can't
impact it.
Anyways,
SPEAKER_01 (00:50):
we got Applebee's
and it sucked.
SPEAKER_02 (00:52):
It was not good.
And we had had, I think the lasttime we ate at Applebee's, we
did eat inside.
It was in December.
It was like Christmas Eve, Eveor something.
Yeah.
And we had, I had that reindeerdrink that was like pure sugar
that I got.
It was like reindeer punch orsomething.
I think you just had beer.
So maybe that masked like thefeeling of the food.
(01:14):
And I think we were just so likestressed from the last minute
shopping that we just werehungry.
And we hadn't had theamazingness of Chili's, minus
the Chili's Airport, which islike a limited menu, right?
Chili's to go.
It's like Chili's to go.
Which, you know, if I lived nearthat airport, I would be like,
let me do security so I can getthis food.
(01:36):
They
SPEAKER_01 (01:36):
probably have a
Chili's outside the airport
around there.
SPEAKER_02 (01:38):
Likely.
I forget that places haveamenities around here.
But the only good thing I'mgoing to say about Applebee's
was their packaging, like theway they packaged our to-go
items.
SPEAKER_01 (01:51):
They had the wing,
the boneless chicken.
Not wings.
Boneless chicken.
Oh, my gosh.
Boneless wings.
In a package.
And then, like, the chips intheir own thing so they didn't
get soggy.
And what else we got?
I don't even remember what elsewe
SPEAKER_02 (02:02):
got.
You were raving about theirpackaging.
You were like, at least I lovehow they got it.
SPEAKER_01 (02:05):
Well, they separated
it out.
Everything is in its nice littleplace.
And so it doesn't get allsmeared all over the place.
SPEAKER_02 (02:11):
That's about the
only good thing I have to say
about it.
SPEAKER_01 (02:13):
Correct.
SPEAKER_02 (02:14):
It tasted bad eating
it.
It tasted bad after.
It gave me a stomachache.
It didn't hit, and it was such aletdown.
It was like going from a fancyhotel to a Motel 6.
Not that I would considerChili's to be top-tier elite
dining, but we did return toChili's.
SPEAKER_01 (02:36):
Yes.
We couldn't let the taste ofApplebee's remain on our
tongues.
We had to cleanse it.
So we went back to the sameChili's and had a very similar
experience.
Food was excellent.
SPEAKER_02 (02:51):
Yeah, no notes.
It was a very stressful weeklast week.
So much going on.
So I don't think, I can't tellyou the last time we went out to
dinner on a Friday night when weweren't on vacation.
SPEAKER_01 (03:02):
It's been a long
time.
SPEAKER_02 (03:03):
It has been a long
time.
Because the last time we didChili's was after we were
running an errand in the middleof the day.
SPEAKER_03 (03:08):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (03:09):
It's been a long
time.
That used to be like our thing.
We got to eat.
The one restaurant that locallythat we would go out to eat
though, like burned down.
Like that had my good queso.
You remember that?
Yes.
SPEAKER_03 (03:23):
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (03:23):
I think that was
like right before the pandemic.
So it wasn't one of the, like itliterally like something
happened with like a kitchenfire.
And yeah, there's, unless it'slike, which I know you like
B-dubs, but you wouldn't standB-dubs as much if it wasn't like
the only option.
I feel like.
SPEAKER_01 (03:38):
Correct.
And also I don't put B-dubs inthe same category of restaurant
as Chili's.
It's
SPEAKER_02 (03:43):
more like.
SPEAKER_01 (03:44):
It's more, more bar
food specific.
SPEAKER_02 (03:46):
Even though what I'm
ordering at Chili's is bar food.
It's like, Bar food raised alittle bit.
Chili's is just, it's the bestchain restaurant.
You know how we have the bestthing going show-wise?
It's the best chain
SPEAKER_01 (03:59):
restaurant.
No, I have a better idea.
We're going to rank them.
So we've got three that arefresh in our mind.
We're going to rank restaurants.
SPEAKER_02 (04:06):
What was the third
one?
SPEAKER_01 (04:07):
So Applebee's,
B-Dub's.
And Chili's.
And then every week, every timewe eat a new one, we're going to
add it to the list.
SPEAKER_02 (04:14):
I ate at Bob Evans
recently.
SPEAKER_01 (04:16):
Bob Evans is not in
the same category as these
restaurants.
SPEAKER_02 (04:19):
It's a chain
restaurant.
SPEAKER_01 (04:20):
You have to be able
to buy alcohol there.
SPEAKER_02 (04:22):
Okay.
So like a bar
SPEAKER_01 (04:24):
and grill type
setup.
Mid-tier bar and grillrestaurants.
So right now, I believe our listis Chili's, B-Dubs, Applebee's.
SPEAKER_02 (04:33):
I
SPEAKER_01 (04:33):
will fight you on
that, those last two.
B-Dubs is better thanApplebee's.
SPEAKER_02 (04:39):
Yeah, we never eat
in B-dubs either, though.
We always get it takeout.
I'm going to say probably I'llagree with you based on how
terrible Applebee's tasted.
Not even the dip that I got fromthere was good.
SPEAKER_01 (04:51):
This list, to me,
applies for takeout as well.
SPEAKER_02 (04:55):
Takeout.
SPEAKER_01 (04:57):
You say we only eat
at B-Dubs for takeout.
I put Chili's above B-Dubs andApplebee's for takeout as well.
Because we got leftovers.
Because we got leftovers.
And I figured out how to use theair fryer to get those Southwest
egg rolls warmed up properly andcrispy.
And they were delicious.
SPEAKER_02 (05:11):
So good.
I would still say, and I thinkprobably you would disagree with
me on this just because you'renot as into it as I am.
In my, I would put, because thelast time we had Olive Garden
was Valentine's Day.
We get to go.
I would put Olive Garden aboveB-dubs because I love me some
OGs.
SPEAKER_01 (05:30):
I think we need, for
this ranking, for this specific
ranking, I think we need to goback to Olive Garden to put it
on the list right now.
SPEAKER_02 (05:38):
So another to-go
experience or to dine in?
SPEAKER_01 (05:41):
I think we should
dine in.
I think we've done to-go enough.
I think we need to go back in.
SPEAKER_02 (05:45):
When you're here,
you're family.
We
SPEAKER_01 (05:48):
haven't seen family
in a while.
SPEAKER_02 (05:50):
Yeah, the Chili's.
No, no.
It's Triple Dipper.
We actually ended up gettingextra food because they gave us
a Double Dipper instead of aTriple Dipper.
They gave us extra Southwest EggRolls.
Oh, no.
And we did that again with thecheese fries.
What did you say about thecheese fries?
You said something
SPEAKER_01 (06:11):
that
SPEAKER_02 (06:11):
almost took my
breath
SPEAKER_01 (06:12):
away.
If you know me, this is going tobe a shocking statement.
If you don't know me, maybe itwon't be a shocking statement.
I could eat those Texas cheesefries at Chili's.
as my main course.
Are they called
SPEAKER_02 (06:22):
Texas Cheese Fries?
Yeah.
Oh, I didn't even notice.
As my main course.
And that's just, that really isbig for you because you are the
type of person that you used tobe like, again, Daniel always
thought he had to have some typeof steak, like heaven help us.
I feel like you never knew whenthe next steak was going to
come.
So you felt like you had to dothat every time at a restaurant,
even if it's like a crappysteak.
(06:44):
But yeah, I mean, I would eatthe cheese fries as an entree as
well.
SPEAKER_01 (06:48):
But you have eaten
cheese fries as an entree.
I have.
I used to get the Aussie cheesefries.
It's not a surprising statementfor you.
SPEAKER_02 (06:53):
When I was like 90
pounds in high school, I would
get the Aussie cheese fries asmy entree because I could eat it
as my entree with norepercussions.
Thank you very much.
Times are different now.
Now I have to have like a funmeal that I look forward to on
the weekends usually.
Yeah, we were so enticed by thecheese fries, her setting them
(07:14):
down on the table that we didn'teven notice.
Yeah.
And then Daniel's like, hey, where's our chicken?
And I was like, oh, they didn'tbring us the chicken, did they?
So then we got extra chicken.
And then, as you said, weordered extra Southwest Egg
Girls.
Those Southwest Egg Girls aretop tier.
And you know what?
They are vegetarian.
So I'm just going to considerthem healthy, air quotes.
They got some black beans in it.
(07:34):
Great.
And the way you– I alwaysthought they were fine in the
microwave.
You know how badly I want to saymicrowave?
SPEAKER_01 (07:41):
Microwave.
SPEAKER_02 (07:42):
Like the stupid
TikTok.
If you know, you know.
But you figured out how to putthem in the air fryer.
SPEAKER_01 (07:48):
And you're like, I'm
going to try that.
UNKNOWN (07:49):
I don't know why we
didn't do that before.
I think they tasted even betterthan they did getting them at
our table.
SPEAKER_01 (07:55):
I don't know that
I'm going to go that far, but
they were definitely good warmedup in the air fryer.
SPEAKER_02 (08:01):
Top tier.
SPEAKER_01 (08:01):
Turns out...
SPEAKER_02 (08:03):
I just want to go to
Chili's every weekend now.
SPEAKER_01 (08:05):
Yeah, same.
Turns out, like, when it comesto appliances and kitchens, air
fryer's not a fad.
Pressure cooker, kind of thepressure, the Instant Pot, kind
of a fad.
SPEAKER_02 (08:16):
I can't recall the
last time we...
Use the
SPEAKER_01 (08:19):
Instapot.
I do our boiled eggs in them.
SPEAKER_02 (08:21):
It's not Insta.
Is it Insta the brand?
Instant Instapot?
What is it?
Are we having a Kleenex tissuesituation?
I have no idea.
What is it actually called?
Is it Instapot?
I think you're right.
It's probably more like apressure cooker.
They're pressure cookers.
Somebody tell me.
They're pressure cookers.
You know what I'm meaning when Isay, is it a tissue?
But you say, like, hand me aKleenex.
But you're right.
(08:41):
It's actually like a brand.
That being said, Puff'sterrible.
Where were we when I had toendure...
Puffs tissues.
Was that one our...
When we did the princess half?
You made it through somehow.
We did the princess half.
in Disney in February and Ialways do like the Walmart
delivery service and I don't buyit that she couldn't find
(09:04):
Kleenex and she they had to do asubstitution and those puffs
tissues at least they didn't getme the kind with lotion that
make your nose all greasy theywere just the regular ones not
only do I not like the way youopen the box they they don't hit
the same like Kleenex has earnedthat right when people ask like
instead of can I have a tissuecan I have a Kleenex because
that's what you want it is likethat's a That's a case of we're
(09:27):
brand loyalty.
You want the Kleenex.
You don't want the puffs.
Those tissues were garbage.
SPEAKER_01 (09:33):
You just sidetracked
my sidetrack.
SPEAKER_02 (09:37):
We are riddled with
mental illness here, folks.
SPEAKER_01 (09:41):
I was sidetracked
talking, trying to praise air
fryers, and then you somehow gotonto tissues, and here we are.
I
SPEAKER_02 (09:48):
don't know.
Shall we get into some shows?
Let's.
I actually have a lot to say,and it's actually good things.
SPEAKER_01 (09:55):
All righty.
Well, here we are.
Spoiler podcast.
Everything we're going to talkabout next, we have watched and
we're not going to hold back onsaying spoilers.
So you have been warned.
Also, if you have any strongopinions on mid-tier...
Bar and grill style Americanrestaurants.
Hit us up in the fan mail andlet us know what your favorite
(10:16):
is.
Am I missing
SPEAKER_02 (10:17):
one?
Like a big one?
I think a lot of people...
Would you count Texas Roadhouseas one?
Logan's.
Friday's.
A lot of people are really intoTexas Roadhouse around here.
SPEAKER_01 (10:27):
Outback.
Is
SPEAKER_02 (10:29):
TGI Friday still a
thing?
I feel like they're all shuttingdown.
I
SPEAKER_01 (10:32):
mean, around here
they are not a thing anymore,
but I don't know if they aregone gone.
That used
SPEAKER_02 (10:35):
to be like our...
SPEAKER_01 (10:36):
That was our place.
SPEAKER_02 (10:38):
Look at us
getting...
Look at us.
Look at us.
Anyway, guys, check thosechapter markers to avoid
spoilers.
Shall we kick it off with AndorSeason 2?
SPEAKER_01 (10:48):
Star Wars Andor
Season 2.
SPEAKER_02 (10:51):
On Disney+.
It is all out.
Yep.
You can check out all theepisodes now.
And I never said that I had anopinion on season two yet.
Y'all know what I thought aboutseason one.
Didn't love it.
Thought the pacing was slow.
I did like the episode with theI can't swim guy in the prison.
I don't remember what numberthat was.
(11:12):
I did say, you know, everyonetold me, get to episode four,
get to episode five.
And I'm like, no, what y'allshould have said is get to the
finale.
And I did praise them for havinga good finale.
Well, I'm just going to throw itout.
I'm going to go first season twowas phenomenal well done you
took the issues that I had youfixed them it's I'm not going to
(11:37):
say because I'll never get tosee something like the acolyte
season two so I think it'spossible to like both but I am
going to say and or season twospecifically and now that I put
it as a collective whole uhprobably is one of the best
things that Disney has done withStar Wars.
There I said it.
You know what, though?
Like Rocky said in Rocky IV,I've seen a lot of changing out
(12:02):
here tonight.
Everyone can change.
SPEAKER_01 (12:05):
All right, I have a
question for you.
SPEAKER_02 (12:07):
Okay, so you want to
ask me a question before I jump
in?
SPEAKER_01 (12:09):
Yeah, before you
jump in, real quick, with what
you just said about, what you'vesaid in the past about season
one to the point where we took ayear-long break between watching
it.
Like more
SPEAKER_02 (12:19):
than a year.
Yeah.
Big hiatus.
SPEAKER_01 (12:22):
Is this the greatest
comeback for a TV show that you
can think of when it comes toseason-to-season change for you?
What is
SPEAKER_02 (12:30):
this Super Bowl?
I'm sure Kayla knows if she onceis listening, which, again...
The Falcons, I think...
Was that who they played?
I think they fumbled the bag,but where the Patriots came back
and won.
Was it versus Atlanta?
Yeah.
And it was one of the...
This is like that with the show.
SPEAKER_01 (12:47):
Okay, but I was
asking specifically, is there
any other shows you can think ofthat have done this?
That have fumbled, in myopinion?
That have done this like this.
I mean,
SPEAKER_02 (12:55):
people would
disagree with me and think that
Andor season one was great,so...
Sure, there are a lot of peoplewho disagree, yes.
For my personal opinion...
SPEAKER_01 (13:03):
It's the greatest
comeback in TV history for you.
Honestly, yeah.
For you.
SPEAKER_02 (13:06):
For me, because like
I didn't, I remember like Parks
and Rec.
I love Parks and Rec.
I didn't totally love that firstseason, but it was so short and
it was such a comedy.
I could get through it and thepacing didn't bug me.
And now it's one of those thingsthat now that I love Parks and
Rec so much, I go back and Ifind this like, even though they
made Leslie, they tried to makeher like a Michael Scott like
character.
(13:27):
I can go back and have like afondness for season one, but it
was never like, yeah, there'snothing I can think of that even
compares.
UNKNOWN (13:36):
Okay.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (13:36):
Because that's how
much I disliked it in the
beginning.
So it's like that Super Bowlwhere the Patriots...
Was that against the Falcons?
SPEAKER_01 (13:43):
Yes, it was.
I'm sure Kaylin will scream fromthe high hills if she hears
this.
SPEAKER_02 (13:48):
I feel like
everybody, when they think about
iconic comeback moments insports history, that's one of
them.
and they came back and it's likethat's like it's like the Super
Bowl of like sports with thisall right so Andor my biggest
problems with Andor season onewas pacing was awful I thought I
think they could have but Ithink you can't watch season two
(14:11):
without watching season one soI'm gonna clear it there on that
I think the way I would havefixed season one is I would have
done a shortened like I wouldhave had less episodes like
that's actually an example whereI'm like no we didn't need 12
episodes we could have like thetime he spent at the camp with
those people before it like allthat was so boring and the way
they would cut between thedifferent scenes of the
(14:32):
different characters I felt likethey fixed that in season two it
was a much the pacing was justbetter as a whole and at first
at first I was gonna have somebeef with the pacing in season
two but then it ended up makingsense and I'll tell you like
what the beef is here in aminute but they fixed the pacing
I felt like it was the way theyjust spurt and they go back and
(14:54):
forth between the differentstorylines.
I think that was better done.
I think they were like...
It
SPEAKER_01 (15:02):
was much more
balanced this season.
Yes.
Yeah, much more balanced.
They found the balance with
SPEAKER_02 (15:05):
the force, you could
say.
Obviously, the stakes werehigher, and that does help from
a showwriting perspective.
having you told me that you hadread that the original plan was
for five seasons i think that ifthey had been allowed to go
forward with that plan i wouldhave hated season two because i
think they would have done thatlike glacial pace only at the
(15:29):
end do we get like craziness soi think i think that was the
right move by disney telling towrap it up because we we know
like how old cassian is we knowwhere we were time wise there's
only we know we've seen we'veseen the finale of Andor with
Rogue One we knew like the timewas compressed and there's only
so much you can do and I thinkthat I think it was the right
(15:52):
move like for a storytellingpremise as well but it was
fantastic now my first because Iknow you're looking at me about
this and you want me to say itthe season season two starts
with a one year later time jumpand I was like okay you know a
lot of shows do that But that'swhat the format each, from my
(16:14):
understanding, Andor releasedthree episodes
SPEAKER_01 (16:16):
per week.
Yeah, three episodes at a time.
It's kind of like each one iskind of a self-contained arc of
a story.
And in between each of those, this is a year time jump.
SPEAKER_02 (16:24):
And at first I
wasn't, I was like, well, come
on, what are they doing?
And then I'm like, I know I justcomplained about pacing and now
I'm criticizing.
That's not what I meant.
What I mean by that, and I wishif I had one thing that I would
have had them fix with seasonone or season two, with the
one-year time jumps is if theycould have sprinkled in a little
bit more flashbacks to make somerelationships a bit more
(16:47):
meaningful.
Like Bix and Cassian and or.
I know that they had a historyand a past based on what I saw
for season one.
I assume they'd probably begetting together.
I would have liked to haveseen...
them get to that point did theyjust automatically get back
together I would have liked tohave seen more from them and
(17:09):
that's just for me personallywhat I like with my ships so to
speak on shows is I like to seeyearning I like to see build up
I've never been the type that isjived with like oh this is the
couple you're supposed to rootfor I don't know if the writers
for Andor are men or women butthis seems like a man wrote it
(17:31):
like oh you're just supposed toassume and I never and I
obviously I mean I got soemotional with their goodbye
that I even cried because I knowyou know what obviously happens
to his fate with Rogue One but Itold you I was never totally on
board with the two of them as acouple just because I didn't get
to see it.
I was like, oh, you're just toassume.
(17:51):
And I like to see that.
Now, the other couple that Iliked, I would call them the
what happens when the two worstpeople you think of get
together.
I would have liked to have alllike they had a little bit more
build and interaction.
SPEAKER_01 (18:04):
Dedra and Cyril.
Yes, Dedra and
SPEAKER_02 (18:06):
Cyril.
I assumed if you're an Andorwatcher, you know who I'm
talking about when I say the twoworst people ever.
I would have liked to seen alittle bit more flashbacks of
maybe like their first kiss, butI guess they're never going to
be that couple.
But I felt like I got to seethem more as a couple than I did
what I would consider probablylike the main couple, which
again, Andor is not about theships.
(18:28):
It's not about that.
So that's just my– thing withthe one year that gets on my
nerves I've watched other showsthat do that and it's like oh
these people are together nowand I'm like please I want to
see it and probably my guess isone of the episodes that I like
which was in that last set ofthree where you find out how
Luthan and is it Kila Clea howthey met was almost entirely a
(18:52):
flashback was one of my favoriteepisodes of the season
SPEAKER_01 (18:55):
yeah and you know
the more I've thought about it
that last just since we're hereand we'll just talk about that
episode
SPEAKER_03 (19:01):
okay
SPEAKER_01 (19:01):
I feel like To do
that in the last three sets,
after what they had just done inthe Gorman arc, and how they
ended that.
to then go into a flashbackepisode, I thought that was kind
of a bold choice.
SPEAKER_02 (19:18):
I
SPEAKER_01 (19:18):
can see a lot of
people not liking that.
SPEAKER_02 (19:20):
I would agree with
you if it had been a weekly
release to go from that, butbecause you knew you had two
more, I think it was less of abold choice.
Honestly, I feel like Cassian isless featured in those last
three episodes, but we've kindof got him to the point.
Yeah, he gets a movie.
So we needed to see what elsehappens.
(19:41):
Okay, so that's just going backto the season as a whole.
The one-year time jump thing didwork for when I realized exactly
what they were doing.
So again, my only beef was Ijust wish I could have seen a
little bit more thing becauseI'm a relationship.
Not just relationshipsromantically.
I like to see characters.
(20:03):
I like to get to know them alittle more.
I would have liked to have seenthat, but in terms of, like you
said, there was a way betterbalance.
I...
Almost every episode was sogood.
Like, it's hard for me.
Like, I think one of my...
I love the wedding episode.
I don't know which one
SPEAKER_01 (20:20):
that was.
That was, like, the thirdepisode, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (20:22):
We already knew that
Mon Mothma was basically going
to sell her daughter for therebellion.
And can I just say that...
We all deserve at some pointjust to have a Mon Mothma level
crash out.
SPEAKER_03 (20:34):
That's
SPEAKER_02 (20:35):
the way they did
that song in the reception with
her just being like, well, screwit.
I'm going to get drunk.
I'm going to take all theseshots, dance around.
And she knows that her buddy isabout to die because he can't be
trusted.
So she knows all that.
She knows what she's done withher daughter.
She's clearly in a lovelessmarriage.
Still don't like my opinion ofher husband.
(20:57):
We'll get to that in a second.
Yeah.
But then they had that musicgoing with other parts that were
very tense in the show.
Was that where Cassian, what washe doing at that point?
SPEAKER_01 (21:11):
So that was when
Cassian was coming back to that
wheat planet to save everybodybecause the Empire was doing the
inspection.
Was already there.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (21:20):
So they just used
that music the whole time.
And I thought that wasbrilliantly done.
Do you have any thoughts on MonMothma crash out wedding?
SPEAKER_01 (21:31):
Yeah, that whole,
like, that whole scene there at
the end of that episode to closeout the first arc was really,
like you said, just incrediblywell done.
And honestly, like...
most of this season was justlike
SPEAKER_02 (21:44):
it was so good like
i said i i i told daniel i was
like i'm gonna have to come onhere and i'm gonna have to say
you know what but you know whati wasn't wrong though because i
never said i said i might likeseason two but and or got good
like it's it's now that we haveseason two i i give it the
(22:05):
awards I don't know.
Are there people out there thatlike season one better than
season two?
SPEAKER_01 (22:10):
I haven't seen.
I haven't really seen too muchtalk about that yet.
I think it's one of those thingswhere I haven't really looked a
lot on the internet post theseason ending last week.
So we'll see.
I have.
I'm on an Andor specific Reddit.
I think you would be very hardpressed to make a case that
season one is better than seasontwo.
And I enjoyed season one betterthan you did.
(22:33):
I thought season one was verygood.
But season two...
is like if you ever had to havea conversation about best
seasons of a drama show oh
SPEAKER_02 (22:44):
yeah
SPEAKER_01 (22:44):
I think you have to
and or season two is in that
conversation
SPEAKER_02 (22:48):
I still think like
when it comes to my personal
things like me personally thatwas it season two when Luke
showed up on Mandalorian
SPEAKER_03 (22:57):
yeah
SPEAKER_02 (22:57):
And that moment is
top for me.
I'm not going to say that seasonof The Mandalorian, though, is
better because clearly it's not.
I don't remember what happenedbesides Luke showing up.
I think Ahsoka season one stillstands out to me as probably
being my personal favoritething.
I mean, obviously, I really likeAhsoka and I like getting to see
(23:20):
Anakin.
So I'm always going to have biastowards that.
But if I'm taking a step backand I'm like from a purely, you
know, storytelling perspective, perspective what they're trying
to accomplish i can say that andor season two probably is since
disney got their hand on starwars one of the best things to
come out of it and i can admitthat
SPEAKER_01 (23:39):
yeah i think that it
was it's pretty clear to me that
of all the things they've donedisney has done with star wars
rogue one and now Oh, yeah.
And or along with it.
That story that they tell fromseason one of Andor to Rogue One
is the best thing, in myopinion, Disney has done.
SPEAKER_02 (23:59):
And we always, I
feel like, thought that of the,
you know, the sequels, Solo,Rogue One, that Rogue One was
the best.
SPEAKER_03 (24:05):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (24:06):
And this just, Rogue
One, what it did was it made
everything with A New Hopematter even more.
And now, like, double that by athousand.
UNKNOWN (24:17):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (24:17):
I saw this meme and
it was like, imagine that you do
all this work and put all thesacrifice in and these two goofy
idiots get all the glory.
And it was where she's given themedals to Han and Luke, which
obviously we know Luke helpedVader get back to Anakin again.
Han played a role.
But you really see...
Like the, you know, all thebehind, the people that didn't
(24:39):
get the glory, the people thatsacrifices.
Like Ma and Mothma basicallysacrificed her family.
SPEAKER_01 (24:44):
It's also
interesting to look at that
scene from A New Hope and thinkabout who could have, who from
Andor could theoretically havebeen in there.
Yeah.
Watching this going, these guysare really?
But anyways.
SPEAKER_02 (24:58):
It just made
everything, just like Rogue One
made everything matter more.
Like I said, this just athousand times.
SPEAKER_01 (25:04):
It's funny to think
that all of this storytelling
came from the first line of theopening scroll of A New Hope.
After the Rebels have just wontheir first major victory.
Like that's it.
Rogue One came from thatsentence.
And now here we are with all ofthis stuff.
I want to talk about my favoriteepisode of the season.
Okay.
Who are you?
SPEAKER_02 (25:26):
Oh, that episode was
really, really good.
That's where the end of kind ofthe Gorman arc, very Cyril
focused.
It's intense.
So intense.
I think I don't know if I wouldcall that one my favorite
episode.
(25:47):
I think my favorite one is theMon Mothma speech.
That was after that.
That was the episode after thatone.
That was the episode after that.
Were they in the three set
SPEAKER_01 (25:56):
together?
Yes.
That was two and
SPEAKER_02 (25:59):
three.
That entire set that wasreleased that week was top tier.
I definitely agree with you.
That one's right up there.
I never thought that I would be–because I hated Cyril so much in
season one.
In season one, yeah, you hatedhim.
Like, Dedra, like, amused me.
But, like, he was just like, oh,my God, this guy.
But then I find myself, like, desperately wanting him to be
(26:22):
better.
And this episode kind of, like, his eyes were opened.
He finds out that Dedra waslying to him because they are
together.
Is it Deidre?
I feel like they call her Deidreon the show.
They call her Deidre, I think.
I feel like...
SPEAKER_01 (26:40):
We're calling her
Deidre.
SPEAKER_02 (26:41):
Yeah.
Whatever.
Deal with it.
He realizes that she's beenlying to him, and then he's...
you finally see it click in hima little bit like what exactly
the Empire is doing when herealizes what is happening.
Not only has he been used, butall this is going down.
So we have that whole big momentin the square where basically
(27:02):
the Empire showed up to incitean insurrection, more or less.
SPEAKER_01 (27:06):
So they can mow him
down and have a justification
for ripping the planet apart.
SPEAKER_02 (27:12):
So he's walking
around and it's just like he's
seeing what they're doing, what's going on, and he's just
almost like despondent like whathave I done what's going on and
you think just when you thinklike that he maybe he's gonna do
the right thing who does hefinally come face to face with
SPEAKER_01 (27:32):
he sees Cassian
SPEAKER_02 (27:33):
he sees Cassian and
he just snaps they start
fighting and Cassian basicallylike who the heck are you and I
do believe that where Cyrilpointed the gun at him Before
Cassian even spoke to him, therewas a moment of hesitation.
Do you think that if– and then,of course, here's the spoiler
(27:55):
where Cassian's like, who areyou?
Somebody comes in, one of theGorman guys shoots Cyril.
Cyril's dead.
Do you think that he would have–pulled that trigger or do you
think he was thinking in thatmoment like do I really want to
do this because I think all therage of everything that he had
been through and then seeingCassian who he kind of blames
(28:17):
for his lot in life was allcoming out in that fight but I
feel like he I feel like he Hehesitated.
SPEAKER_01 (28:25):
He had the
opportunity.
He had him right there.
Cassian was on the ground.
He could have shot him rightthere and in that moment right
before he got shot.
And like you said, even beforeCassian delivered that
devastating line, he didn'tshoot.
And you have to wonder...
was he taking that moment torealize after the rage of
(28:45):
everything had fallen off ofhim, is this who I am?
Is this really what I want tobe?
Because up until that point, hehad been a law enforcement
officer and then at the Bureauand standards, but we'd never
really seen him be overtlyviolent and killer before.
like
SPEAKER_02 (29:01):
Cassian
SPEAKER_01 (29:02):
has been.
He
SPEAKER_02 (29:03):
did choke Dedra out
when
SPEAKER_01 (29:05):
he found out she was
lying to him.
There was a little bit ofdomestic issues there.
SPEAKER_02 (29:08):
Yeah, I mean, that
was a little red flaggy.
SPEAKER_01 (29:13):
But yeah, I just
thought that was...
So first of all, the way theymake tension in this show For a
show that we know what's goingto happen to the main
characters.
SPEAKER_02 (29:26):
For a show that was
once boring.
SPEAKER_01 (29:28):
Yeah.
But we know all that entiretime.
We know Cassian's not going todie.
He can't.
But we didn't
SPEAKER_02 (29:34):
know anything about
Cyril.
SPEAKER_01 (29:35):
Right.
We didn't know anything aboutCyril.
And so the way they brought hischaracter around and had his
arc.
And it's devastating to mebecause he's happy on Gormin.
I really feel like he foundsomething for himself on Gorman.
He felt important.
(29:55):
He liked it.
He didn't necessarily enjoy thehubbub of Coruscant.
He kind of liked being away fromit a little bit, being away from
his mother.
Because when he found out he hadto go back, he was upset.
He was upset.
And so just to me, he feels likehe's got a purpose and he feels
like he's found a place only tofind out that his purpose was
completely a lie and that hisplace isn't going to exist
(30:17):
anymore because the Empire isgoing to just destroy it.
And then, like you said, you getto that moment where you think,
oh, he's going to do it.
He's going to take up armsagainst the Empire, and instead
he reverts back to the guy hewas at the beginning of season
one, full of rage, and justhulks out on Cassian until that
very moment.
(30:37):
And it was just like...
SPEAKER_02 (30:39):
So what do you think
at the end, though?
Do you think Winnie held backbecause he had the perfect shot?
I
SPEAKER_01 (30:43):
don't know.
I don't
SPEAKER_02 (30:44):
know.
I think he's an example of, andI don't want to get too
political, but where people makea choice, they align themselves
with a certain...
you know, way of thinking acertain, you know, person or
figure.
And then they realize that
SPEAKER_01 (31:00):
they made the wrong
choice.
SPEAKER_02 (31:01):
They made the wrong
choice, but they're not brave
enough or bold enough to admitthat they did.
SPEAKER_03 (31:06):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (31:07):
And they double
SPEAKER_03 (31:08):
down.
SPEAKER_02 (31:09):
It's they either
double down on it or they just
are frozen walking around.
Yeah.
that square with everythinggoing on, like Cyril.
I was Cyril.
His name's hard to say.
But can we say something funnyabout Cyril, though?
Him laying down on the episode.
So we have the episode.
(31:29):
I think it was like one of thefirst or second of the season
where his mother comes to visithim and Dedra's place on
Coruscant.
And I can just say, Dedra...
You know, she's difficult, butshe did, I think, what a lot of
people wish they could do totheir in-laws or their family
(31:50):
members or whatever.
She basically laid down the lawwith his mother, and I feel like
that's the first time anyone'sever stood up for him and his
mother.
I think in her own twisted way, despite lying to them, what she
wanted the power and glory, shedid love him in a weird way, and
that's an example of how shedid.
But he's just like...
SPEAKER_01 (32:09):
Peace
SPEAKER_02 (32:10):
out.
And he's just laying on the bedin distress.
SPEAKER_01 (32:13):
What's their friend?
From Wicked.
Glinda.
Glinda on the bed from Wicked.
It is objectively, I think, maybe the funniest thing that
has ever been in Star Wars.
Like that shot of him laying onthe bed like
SPEAKER_02 (32:25):
that.
We had to pause because welaughed so hard.
Between that and Dedrapracticing her smile in that
same episode.
Man, the two of them.
They were fun to root for as twohorrible people who you might
want to have them make it.
Remember her?
I don't know what episode wasit.
(32:46):
He's already on Gorman, and theycome to visit her.
He visits her, and she's like, turn off the lights.
She's all business.
SPEAKER_01 (32:55):
He just had found
out that she'd had him followed.
Yeah.
But he's mad at her, but...
Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_02 (33:03):
Oh, wow.
So where do we go to next?
SPEAKER_01 (33:06):
Well, you know, you
could talk for hours about this
show.
But I think, you know, we get tothe final three episodes.
I thought even though they werea– I don't think they were as
good as the seven, eight, nineepisodes.
episodes, the ending of theGorman arc leading into Mon
Motha's speech.
(33:27):
I do think they were really goodepisodes.
And I think it's interesting tolook at, in my opinion, where
everybody ends up at the end ofthis series.
SPEAKER_02 (33:36):
Well, I know you
don't want to talk about
everything, but we have to talkabout Mon Motha's speech.
SPEAKER_01 (33:42):
Oh, yeah.
No, I'm sorry.
Yes, we do have to do that.
We
SPEAKER_02 (33:44):
have to go back.
We have to go back.
What's that?
That's from Lost.
I was like, what show am Ireferencing?
I don't even know my ownreferences.
Mon Mothma's speech wasincredible.
She knew that by giving thatspeech, that was it for her.
She's going to have to get theheck out of Dodge, probably
never see her husband again.
I mean, not that she cared abouthim, but no contact with her
(34:05):
daughter again.
That speech that she did...
It might be up there withPresident Whitmore's
SPEAKER_01 (34:12):
speech.
Oh, really?
Wow.
SPEAKER_02 (34:13):
It was that
powerful.
And I feel like, again, I don'twant to get political.
It's really hard not to whenyou're watching a show like
Andor.
I'll just say this.
Did her speech not resonate withhow you have felt in current
times?
We'll just say the last decade.
SPEAKER_01 (34:34):
As all good media
should, it reflects the time in
which it was made.
And I think Andor Season 2 wasvery reflective of the time that
we live in now.
SPEAKER_02 (34:44):
But we had...
So she's working with fake BailOrgana.
I'm going to call him that.
Because he's not the real actor.
With Benjamin Bratt, who steppedin as Bail Organa.
Who, you know, did the job hedid.
But it never felt like BailOrgana to me.
So I'm just going to call himfake Bail Organa.
You guys don't have to deal withit.
She's working with his people.
And there's a mole in his group.
(35:06):
So not only do we have herfinishing the speech, this is
like our love actually momentwhere we have the two
characters, she and Cassianfinally meet because he comes to
rescue her.
And we find out who the mole is.
But then I feel like even aftershe gave that speech, Mon Mothma
didn't realize what it wasreally going to be like to truly
(35:27):
be part of the rebellion.
And that's where she had to makethat choice.
And it all comes down to...
her driver, who she knew wasspying on her.
They see her driver.
Her driver says something.
And what did Cassian do?
He just
SPEAKER_01 (35:41):
shoots him.
SPEAKER_02 (35:42):
He just shoots him.
Do you think there's somediscourse online?
Do you think the driver listenedto her speech and was going to
come around and help her?
I
SPEAKER_01 (35:49):
think they
intentionally put two shots of
the driver listening to herspeech, and then going to try
and get her to leave it up towhat were his actual intentions.
But Cassian was 100% correct.
If Cassian's mission is, I'vegot to get her out of here, and
she just got done.
He had no time.
He had no time, and he justsaid, who is that?
(36:12):
She said, that's my driver.
And he said, can we trust him?
And she said, he's a plant.
Bam.
SPEAKER_02 (36:17):
And I think that
just solidifies– the whole the
difficulties of being part ofthe rebellion is that like what
Luthan said like I'm gonna haveto live with the choices I make
and I'm gonna have to live withwhat I did that's what he said
in season one yeah in one of thefew good episodes of season one
that's what he said and it justyou see Cassian in that mindset
(36:40):
and I think Mon Mothma stillwasn't fully there yet.
She hasn't fully trusted Luthan, and for good reason.
But she wasn't as, while she waswanting to stop Palpatine, she
wasn't exactly part of therebellion, I feel like, until
that very moment that he got herout of there.
So, I just, that whole sequence, again, was some of the best TV
(37:03):
I've watched.
They really did a good job ofkeeping us on the edge of of our
seats.
And then also, before we getinto the last three, her Mon
Mothma's cousin, was hercousin's name Beth?
SPEAKER_01 (37:16):
Bao, I think.
Why am I coming up with Beth?
I don't know.
SPEAKER_02 (37:19):
Where's that from?
I don't know.
I don't remember what hercousin's name is.
I just call her the girl fromGame of Thrones, who I like as
blonde better.
I like her blonde hair better.
But I guess you could write theargument.
We all know, again, we'll get tothis in a minute, what happens
with your fashion and your hairwhen you join the rebellion full
time.
So I'm guessing that's why herpretty hair was gone but we did
(37:40):
get a little bit of arelationship payoff with her and
the other girl
SPEAKER_03 (37:43):
yeah
SPEAKER_02 (37:44):
they were able to
meet up again we finally They
admit their feelings for eachother.
They kiss, which that might bethe first same-sex kiss between
two main adjacent characters.
I know it's not the main.
SPEAKER_01 (37:58):
I think so, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (37:59):
In the Star Wars.
I know there was a, I think inRise of Skywalker.
They put it in the background ofRise of Skywalker.
But a very background.
SPEAKER_00 (38:05):
It doesn't count.
SPEAKER_02 (38:06):
So we had that
moment.
And I said, they better not doanything to this couple.
Not even two seconds later.
Yeah.
Yeah.
by the people that were part ofthe whole plan on Gorman.
It was just caught inmisunderstanding.
You can see how the rebels werevery disorganized throughout.
(38:30):
I think that's what season onetried to show.
And season two shows them tryingto come up with more of these
quote-unquote rebel alliance, soto speak, and what it took to
get there.
But that really annoyed me.
I didn't enjoy that.
What did you enjoy about?
Because I was so excited, andthen they just took it away from
me.
SPEAKER_01 (38:49):
Classic
storytelling.
You finally get some more detailon those characters, and then
one of them gets it.
So that's just what happens.
So we get to the final three, and I'll go through.
Basically, Luthan has been doingall this stuff for years in the
background.
Yes.
(39:09):
Or as we
SPEAKER_02 (39:09):
caught him from
season one, Bill.
SPEAKER_01 (39:11):
Yeah, and the ISB,
Dedra, have been trying to track
him down all this time andfinally manages to do it.
And I'm going to be honest.
SPEAKER_02 (39:21):
And Dedra, we have
to call it out, she's violating
her
SPEAKER_01 (39:25):
own orders and
protocol to do this.
SPEAKER_02 (39:28):
She's so obsessed
with getting the glory and
catching this guy, she'sactually, as one could say,
acting like a rebel within theEmpire.
SPEAKER_01 (39:36):
I think there's some
subcontext there, too, with the
way Luthom was talking to Cleabefore they bugged out that she
was talking about he's gotten alittle sloppy and he kind of had
a smile.
And I wonder if part of hissloppiness, so to speak, I'm
using air quotes there, wasactually intentional to keep the
Imperials looking his wayinstead of looking out into the
(39:58):
galaxy.
I think you're
SPEAKER_02 (39:58):
right because at
that point we had discovered the
Death Star and got theinformation that we need you
know to proceed and I think youare I think you are exactly
right I don't think it wassloppy I think he realized what
was going on and he knew he wasgoing to go down and he made
that sacrifice because if notlike and she actually had to
(40:22):
because they didn't fully killhim.
She had to sneak in and gobasically off him because she
knew they would torture him toget that information out of him.
So it was doing so manysacrifices, even at the expense
of your own character, to gothrough with the rebellion and
to take down the Empire.
And I think it just goes backto, you know, it did what Rogue
(40:45):
One did to show the movie howall the sacrifices, and it just
amplified it, like I said, timesa thousand.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (40:52):
One of our favorite
droids ever, K2SO, finally.
I had forgotten
SPEAKER_02 (40:56):
how much I loved
him.
I'm going to tell you, would youlike to know everything that
went wrong or all the thingsthat went wrong or the protocol?
I'll tell you, eight.
I had forgotten how funny hewas.
You
SPEAKER_01 (41:10):
can always depend on
a good Star Wars droid to add a
little comedy to the...
To
SPEAKER_02 (41:14):
add a little humor
in it.
Add
SPEAKER_01 (41:15):
a little humor to
the group.
Exactly.
SPEAKER_02 (41:18):
Intense situation.
SPEAKER_01 (41:19):
So Cassian flies off
to Coruscant to save...
He thinks he's saving Luthen.
Yes.
But then he gets there and hefinds out Luthen's dead and he's
getting Clea out of there.
And
SPEAKER_02 (41:30):
we got the backstory
how she and Luthen met.
We did get to see Naboo.
For like two seconds.
SPEAKER_01 (41:36):
Go off.
Go off, queen.
SPEAKER_02 (41:37):
They didn't say it
on screen.
I don't know why.
I think it was meant to be anEaster egg wink.
But I was like, oh my gosh, isthat Naboo?
I made you pause it becauseNaboo is my favorite planet.
And then I went on Reddit andeveryone was like, is that
Naboo?
And I guess they have sinceconfirmed that that was in fact
Naboo.
which I wonder why.
Do you think it was just kind ofan Easter egg hint?
(41:58):
Because we know not only is ourbeautiful Padme from Naboo, but
that's where Palpatine is from.
SPEAKER_01 (42:02):
Yeah.
I think it's just one of thosethings where...
It's a
SPEAKER_02 (42:06):
little wink.
SPEAKER_01 (42:07):
Just a little wink.
It wasn't a big enough scenethat you needed to know where it
was.
It was a big
SPEAKER_02 (42:11):
enough scene that I
was like, pause
SPEAKER_01 (42:13):
the TV! Sometimes
they tell you where you're at
because from a contextualstandpoint of understanding the
story, you need to know that.
But in that case, you didn'tneed to know where they were.
SPEAKER_02 (42:24):
For those of us...
that have been wanting to seeNaboo for years.
SPEAKER_01 (42:27):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (42:28):
It was...
I wish they would have just toldus, but now that they confirmed
it, I can deal with that.
SPEAKER_01 (42:33):
So Cassian extracts
Clea from Coruscant.
Daedra is...
SPEAKER_03 (42:40):
in
SPEAKER_01 (42:41):
some trouble and Ben
Mendelsohn has a terrifying and
like he was terrifying in thatscene like where he's
interrogating her and he putshis finger on her head like that
SPEAKER_02 (42:52):
you might as well be
a rebel and that's when I
guessed what her fate was
SPEAKER_01 (42:55):
going to be and so
Cassian gets Clea back to Gavin
and the rebel base he deliversthe information that she had
about the Death Star or whatthey don't know what it is yet
but they know there's a weaponbeing produced you see someone
More of the rebels, you know, fighting and infighting with
each other.
And then they finally, you know, talk to Saul Guerrero's folks
(43:19):
and Cassian.
So we'll start with Cassianbecause we, you know, he got the
least amount of payoff at theend here because his payoff
comes in Rogue One.
He gets a whole movie.
We last see him getting on hisship to go do what we see him do
at the beginning of Rogue One.
SPEAKER_02 (43:35):
And then we get the
payoff for the other characters.
Before I say anything nice, Iremembered something that I do
have to call out that made mereally mad when we watched it.
SPEAKER_03 (43:45):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (43:47):
Season one, you said
that she had just changed from F
the Empire.
They made her say somethingnicer.
SPEAKER_01 (43:53):
Yeah.
Fight the Empire.
SPEAKER_02 (43:54):
Fight the Empire.
You can't do that and then havesuch a violent act against a
woman, against Bix.
I mean, the guy– so we'rescrolling back.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
One of the early episodes, andwe've got the Imperial people
showing up on the planet, likethe farming-type planet, which
she would later go relocate to.
That's where she goes off to,right?
(44:17):
Yes.
She is very much assaulted, andI could have inferred what they
were doing without them– Theyreally showed a lot.
I mean, they didn't show himactually doing anything to her,
but pinning her down, punchingher.
Yeah.
It was...
It
SPEAKER_01 (44:35):
was graphic.
SPEAKER_02 (44:36):
For Disney.
Yeah.
If you're going to say that youcan't say, but then you can
show...
That really bothered me a littlebit.
I think they could have...
I think it was inferred enoughwith a couple scenes.
I really felt maybe they reallywanted to shock, but I'm like,
if you can do that, then youcould have said...
F the
SPEAKER_01 (44:53):
Empire.
Well, I think you said it.
I was
SPEAKER_02 (44:56):
a little triggered
by the scene.
SPEAKER_01 (44:58):
I'll be honest.
You said it to me afterwards.
And so I'll repeat your words.
You said they couldn't say the Fword when a woman wasn't allowed
to say the F word in a verypowerful and empowering speech.
But we were on the very nextseason, we're allowed to show a
woman getting assaulted.
(45:18):
Yes.
And so they censor that, butthey don't censor this.
We could show violence againstwomen.
Yeah.
There's a disconnect there.
That made me
SPEAKER_02 (45:25):
mad.
And like we had to see Cyrillike choking Dedra.
SPEAKER_01 (45:27):
Yeah, exactly.
I didn't like that.
Yeah.
And so there is a disconnectthere for me.
And I think that, you know, ifthey had allowed the F the
Empire to go through, I mightnot have as much criticism about
SPEAKER_02 (45:38):
it.
Yes.
Thank you for explaining thatbetter than I could.
So let's jump in.
All right.
I already said, should we startwith Bix?
SPEAKER_01 (45:45):
Let's start with
Bix.
We already know she left.
SPEAKER_02 (45:47):
She left and or
Cassian said basically she
realizes his fate, our littlemoments that we got with the
force was they met this lady onthe rebel base that was like I
feel like this is your destinyBix realizes that that he's
always going to be saving peopleand that for the cause she's
what's holding him back
SPEAKER_01 (46:06):
because he's ready
to quit and leave and just go
off with her
SPEAKER_02 (46:08):
and she's like you
know I love you but like maybe
when this is all this is where Istarted to cry she's like when
this is all said and done we cando all the things we always
talked about doing and obviouslythat's sad and heart-wrenching
because we know we can't so shewhat she doing she is going off
back to that planet.
SPEAKER_01 (46:24):
Well, she leaves.
She leaves.
We don't really know where shegoes until the very end.
And then at the end, there'sbeen a time jump because we see
her on the wheat planet whereshe started, where we saw her at
the beginning of the seasonbecause they had some people
that they knew there.
And she's walking through thewheat field.
We see the little droid playingwith other droids being happy.
And she's carrying a baby.
SPEAKER_02 (46:43):
Which we are to
assume that that is.
Yeah.
The baby looked about a yearold.
SPEAKER_01 (46:47):
Yeah.
Which would have made sensebecause she left before the last
time jump.
So...
SPEAKER_02 (46:52):
And I think you
said, one of the creators said,
like, oh, we're not sure.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think I'm pretty sure.
I don't think Bix is booinganybody.
SPEAKER_01 (47:00):
Of course, now I've
seen a bunch of people who don't
pay attention to canon saying,oh, that's Oscar Isaac's
character.
SPEAKER_02 (47:08):
Like Poe Dameron.
SPEAKER_01 (47:09):
Poe Dameron.
That's got to be Poe Dameron.
And I'm like, no.
There's an entire comic book runthat is canon that talks about
Poe Dameron when he
SPEAKER_02 (47:17):
was born.
That would be so cool if it was, though.
Oh, my gosh.
Throw out that comic book.
SPEAKER_01 (47:23):
So you would be on
board with that?
I
SPEAKER_02 (47:24):
would be.
They look like they could be hisparents,
SPEAKER_01 (47:30):
too.
Because let's put it this way.
Poe Dameron's canonical birthis...
is within plus or minus a yearof that kid, so you could make
it work.
Somebody get in
SPEAKER_02 (47:38):
there and tell them
comic books, sorry, this isn't
canon anymore.
That's actually good.
I actually like, normally I hatewhen people do that.
I'm actually down for that.
That would fit, casting-wise.
They look like he could be hisparents.
I actually, I was talking to mynephew about this.
We were having a conversationabout Andor in Star Wars.
(47:59):
And I said, I wish I could get aPoe Dameron spinoff.
And now this one.
Here, Disney.
Give it to me.
Wow.
All right.
All right.
SPEAKER_01 (48:10):
Okay.
So then I thought we got areally nice shot of Mon Mothma
and her cousin.
you can kind of see how thingschange in life because we've
seen them really dressed up intheir nice attire on Coruscant.
And I'll let you cook on thathere in a second.
But then the last shot you seeof them is just they're sitting
(48:31):
there having a nice conversationon the long bench in the food,
wherever, you know, with all theother rebels and their dirt and
how they talk.
And I just thought, like, It wasa really brief moment, but it
was just kind of nice to seefamilies there talking to each
other on the base.
Now, go ahead.
SPEAKER_02 (48:48):
Now, while nice, I
think that one of the biggest
sacrifices of the rebellion wasMon Mothma's wardrobe.
Her fits, her hair.
Yeah.
Just, we need some betterstylists in the Rebellion.
She had, like, Padme always had, like, gorgeous fits in all the
prequels.
And I thought Mon Mothma hadsome of the best fits.
(49:09):
And then her little rebeloutfit.
I'm like, whoo, your fashion'staking a hit, baby girl.
And then I know they had to gether hair to look like how it did
at the end.
But I'm like, is no one good atcutting hair?
And with the rebels.
SPEAKER_01 (49:22):
Well, she couldn't
bring all those outfits with
her.
SPEAKER_02 (49:24):
So one of the
biggest, you know, one of the
biggest sacrifices was MonMothma's wardrobe.
SPEAKER_01 (49:30):
And of course, close
to that scene, we got a little
peek at Mon Mothma's husband.
SPEAKER_02 (49:34):
We did.
And are you going to let me cookon this too, boy?
Okay.
So clear back in the weddingepisode when we had...
Whoever her daughter's familywas marrying, we had the mother
of the son.
And I was like, the mother ofthe son is very chummy with Mon
(49:55):
Mothma's husband, who I hate.
And I'm like, I bet they have aside thing going on.
Yeah.
It turns out your girl wasright.
I can always sniff it.
I sniff a dirty dog when I seeone, boy.
And now
SPEAKER_01 (50:11):
I'm talking like
Jimmy Jim's son.
So now I want to add one extrapiece of context here.
She
SPEAKER_02 (50:17):
was leaning his head
on him in the car when they were
driving.
I don't think that's how people
SPEAKER_01 (50:22):
know.
No, no, no.
I'm not going to talk about thatscene at all.
So since then there's beeninterviews and there was a scene
shot between him...
the husband and Mon Mothma, thatdid not make the final cut of
the show.
Ooh, really?
And it was their last meetingbefore she went off to the
Senate.
Why would they cut that?
And the conversation went asfollows.
So prepare your expectationsbecause I don't know how you
(50:46):
feel about canonical stuff thatis...
you know, scenes shot but notput in.
But the whole Mon Mothma we havenow is one of those.
SPEAKER_02 (50:55):
I mean, I feel very
strongly about Revenge of the
Sith, the conversations thatAnakin and Padme had about
politics that was cut.
I consider that canon still.
So
SPEAKER_01 (51:03):
he told Mon Mothma,
I know what you're doing with
the rebels.
I've known the entire time.
He just doesn't care?
The Empire interrogates me oncea week.
Why would they cut that?
And I say nothing.
And that's where they leave it.
SPEAKER_02 (51:18):
Well, he gets a
little redemption since he
didn't rat her out.
I'm kind of disappointed theycut that.
I'm very disappointed to findout they would cut that because
I've hated on him since day one.
And that would have made me nothate him so much.
Have I not?
I'm always like, oh, I hate herhusband.
That would have...
So, you know, I guess hook upwith your...
(51:38):
family member.
I really wish we'd ever get tosee what her daughter's doing.
Is her daughter just living atrad wife life?
I don't know.
SPEAKER_01 (51:45):
Well, I don't think
she's living on Coruscant.
I think she's back on Chandrila, which is the planet they're
from.
So she's probably a littleinsulated.
That's probably the best placefor her.
SPEAKER_02 (51:55):
I will say that's
one of the wilder things.
Ever since I said that ColonelTy on Battlestar Galactica was a
Cylon, pulled that out of mybrain, I absolutely said, I
think he's hooking up with thatwoman.
And then it turned out I'mright.
Like, come on, people.
I should start buying lotterytickets or something.
Do you remember that when I saidthat Colonel Ty was a Cylon?
SPEAKER_01 (52:15):
I do.
I recall it very well.
SPEAKER_02 (52:16):
Spoiler alert if
you've never seen Battlestar
Galactica.
SPEAKER_01 (52:18):
A 20-year-old show.
SPEAKER_02 (52:20):
All right, so we got
those.
Now...
The scene with the rebelsarguing about if they were going
to accept the whole plans astruth, I can see right away why
in the sequels they had so muchtrouble getting things together
with the New Republic orwhatever from that alone.
Do you think...
Did you like Benjamin Bratt'sportrayal as Bail Organa?
(52:43):
I'm just never going to get...
I think he tried, but it did...
That's why I say fake BailOrgana.
It did not...
He felt, like, meaner to me
SPEAKER_01 (52:49):
than what I...
He did.
He felt a little bit more sternthan I'm used to hearing.
Maybe it's because
SPEAKER_02 (52:52):
his fashion took a
hit, too.
SPEAKER_01 (52:54):
I don't know.
He felt more stern than I recallBail Organa feeling.
It didn't feel right.
And it was a...
I guess the thing to me...
They had
SPEAKER_02 (53:01):
to cast him, though.
SPEAKER_01 (53:02):
Yes.
He was important to the story.
They had to.
That character.
The thing I think to me that isso jarring is it's not like...
It's not like Revenge of theSith was the last time we saw
him.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi show like twoyears ago used Jimmy Smith as
Bail Organa.
So I think that's the shock.
I think if the Obi-Wan showhadn't used him or hadn't had
(53:25):
him at all, it might not havefelt so jarring.
SPEAKER_02 (53:28):
Yeah, I agree with
that.
It was just weird, but nothing.
But I absolutely agree that...
In order to proceed forward withthe story, he had to be in the
show.
So I'm just going to chalk it upto crappy food, crappy styling,
crappy clothes, moody.
I mean, Leia's moody.
SPEAKER_01 (53:45):
Yeah, sure.
Maybe she's moody from both herdaddies.
I don't know.
Our boy Will.
Hooking up on every planet hegoes to.
SPEAKER_02 (53:53):
We've only saw him
hook up twice.
SPEAKER_01 (53:55):
Well, I'm just
extrapolating.
The bomb boy, right?
The bomb boy.
I'm just extrapolating that.
So he's able to escape Gormanwith his girl.
SPEAKER_02 (54:02):
And I thought they
were going to make him go a
little cuckoo.
Like with, what's ForrestWhitaker's character's
SPEAKER_01 (54:08):
name?
Saul Guerrero.
SPEAKER_02 (54:09):
Yeah, because at one
point he was like stuffing gas
with them.
And I thought they could goeither way with Will.
So I'm glad to see that Will hashis girlfriend, that things are
all right.
SPEAKER_01 (54:20):
He gets away from
Saw Gerrera and is with the
rebels.
And that brings us to ourlast...
SPEAKER_02 (54:25):
What about Clea?
SPEAKER_01 (54:26):
Clea?
Is it
SPEAKER_02 (54:27):
Clea?
Is that her name?
SPEAKER_01 (54:28):
Clea, yeah.
So the only real thing we seefrom her, if you remember Bill
Luthan's speech from the firstseries, and it took me reading
some stuff to realize this.
One of the things he says, youknow, I burned my life for a
sunset that I will never see.
And the last shot we get of Cleais her watching the sunrise on
(54:52):
Yavin 4 base.
And so he burned his life so shecould have a life.
SPEAKER_02 (54:55):
I would like to
think that she is alive
somewhere and was still around.
We just didn't get to see
SPEAKER_01 (55:01):
her.
Part of the rebellion, helpingout, doing her thing.
I
SPEAKER_02 (55:04):
feel like the
costuming on this show does need
to be applauded because she hadthe whole storefront, always the
looks, always the hair uptight.
You could see her, her hair Shestarts wearing her hair down.
It gets messier.
You could literally see, evenlike Luthan's wig would get a
little unraveled.
You could just see things reallystart to unravel and
SPEAKER_01 (55:26):
unfold.
The set design.
Every time we went back toCoruscant after a time jump,
SPEAKER_02 (55:32):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (55:32):
The set just,
Coruscant was just a little bit
more dingy, a little bit moredirty.
Yes, it was
SPEAKER_02 (55:37):
starting to look
more Gotham-y.
SPEAKER_01 (55:38):
Yeah, and they did
just such a great job.
Way
SPEAKER_02 (55:41):
better than what
they've done with like
Mandalorian sets.
SPEAKER_01 (55:43):
Yes, yes.
Well, that volume thing they useis just bleh.
SPEAKER_02 (55:47):
All right, so let's
get to Dedra.
SPEAKER_01 (55:50):
Yep.
You called this one too, by the
SPEAKER_02 (55:52):
way.
I did.
I absolutely did.
I said, as soon as BenMendelsohn's character told her,
you're acting like a rebel.
And they were already, like, Iwouldn't say they were holding
her captive, but they basicallyhad her, like, she was being
punished.
She was being held in a
SPEAKER_01 (56:05):
room.
She was being interrogated.
Interrogated.
Because they weren't surewhether, everything that went
down with the information leakand Lonnie, who we haven't
talked about, the other ISB, butthe actual ISB spy who had been
logged into her account, theywere suspicious as to whether or
not she actually was a spy.
or not
SPEAKER_02 (56:21):
yeah and I said well
one in the they did a good job
in season one I will give thatcredit of her not being
respected as a woman and I don'tthink a lot of people took her
seriously and and I don't knowwhat she was just always wanting
to prove something for the gloryat the sacrifice of her own
relationship because I do thinkin her own messed up way she did
(56:42):
love Cyril but not at theexpense of her career of getting
the glory so to speak and Iturned to you and I said oh my
gosh as soon as you said thatline about the rebel I said
she's going to end up in aprison probably the same one
that Cassian was at working onthe Death Star with her bare
feet and that's going to be herfate and what do we see here we
(57:05):
see that shot of her making thatgrumpy face wearing that white
and orange prison outfit and Iwas like yes
SPEAKER_01 (57:12):
I got it and we
found out earlier in the season
that she was raised she was anorphan and was raised by the
empire to do this so in a wayshe's always ever been a
prisoner of the empire
SPEAKER_02 (57:25):
yeah And this is
going to an Avengers quote,
like, what did it cost?
Everything.
That's your fate.
You got basically treated likeif you were a rebel and had been
caught and thrown in a prison.
Cost her everything.
And I could see her holding itdown in prison, though, being
one of the leaders.
SPEAKER_01 (57:42):
Well, where she left
off, she only has to make it
like five years, and then thenew Republic is going to come in
and have to do something.
SPEAKER_02 (57:49):
Yeah.
That actress was fantastic.
SPEAKER_01 (57:51):
She was great.
Yeah, she was great.
SPEAKER_02 (57:53):
She was one of my
things that I really liked about
C.
For sure, yeah.
I thought her confrontation
SPEAKER_01 (58:16):
with Luthen at the
end...
It was really one of the bestscenes, individual scenes of the
series.
You know, you've talked a lot.
So I'll take over and just sayseason two of Andor is up there
in one of my best single seasonsever
SPEAKER_02 (58:34):
of
SPEAKER_01 (58:35):
any show.
Andor as a whole, I think.
and throw Rogue One in there.
For sure the best thing thatDisney has done with Star Wars.
I think up there with some ofthe best Star Wars, period,
regardless of who made it.
I really thought it was just...
SPEAKER_02 (58:51):
Biggest show come
back in
SPEAKER_01 (58:54):
history! So if you
haven't watched Andor yet and
you've listened to us talk aboutit for 48 minutes, you should
stop listening now and go watchit.
SPEAKER_02 (59:02):
We're just going at
the pace this season one show
went.
It
SPEAKER_01 (59:06):
was really, really,
really good.
SPEAKER_02 (59:09):
I'm going to give
the credit.
They rebounded beautifully.
And I'm really glad that I stuckit out.
To get the glory.
SPEAKER_01 (59:21):
I'm not entirely.
It made
SPEAKER_02 (59:23):
me want to watch
Rogue One immediately.
SPEAKER_01 (59:24):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And Disney did a great job ofhaving Rogue One queue up on
Disney Plus as soon as.
SPEAKER_02 (59:31):
I'm like, I got to
go to bed, boy.
SPEAKER_01 (59:34):
I got to go to
sleep.
I'm concerned about thisMandalorian and Grogu movie now.
Yeah.
Because I've just got donewatching some.
I just got done with some filetmignon here.
And I'm not entirely sureMandalorian and Grogu is going
to have the juice
SPEAKER_02 (59:48):
for me.
Won't Ahsoka season two be thenext thing we see?
SPEAKER_01 (59:50):
I don't know.
Because they're filming them allright now at the same time.
I don't know how they're goingto release order.
I'm excited for Ahsoka seasontwo.
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (59:57):
I am excited for
that.
I hope it doesn't let me down.
Anyway, may the force be withyou.
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:04):
Always.
But you did binge another showin the meantime.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:11):
Speaking of
phenomenal television.
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:12):
Now, only half the
season, right?
Yes.
Okay, so the first half ofseason two of everybody's
favorite reality show.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:21):
Come ye saints and
come ye sinners.
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:27):
The Secret Lives of
Mormon
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:29):
Wives.
The Secret Lives of MormonWives.
Everyone, get out your favoritedirty soda.
The dirty sodas are back.
The Utah girls are back.
And season two delivered andthen some.
So...
If you aren't familiar with TheSecret Lives of Mormon Wives and
MomTalk, will MomTalk survive?
(01:00:51):
No one knows.
Basically, season one aired inSeptember this past year.
And it followed a group of womenthat have become kind of TikTok
famous doing something likeMomTalk.
The creator of MomTalk was alsoinvolved in the swinging
scandal.
They were soft swingers, so theydidn't like fully go all the
(01:01:13):
way.
She was the only one on seasonone that was one of these
swingers.
But the other girls she didMomTalk with were part of it.
It blew up because people likeme watched it and was like, oh
my gosh, this show is amazing.
I need more immediately.
I'm so fascinated.
That's how I learned what adirty soda was.
It was just, if you're into thereality TV drama theatrics.
SPEAKER_01 (01:01:37):
I've heard nothing
but detrimental things so far.
SPEAKER_02 (01:01:40):
Amazing.
Okay, my therapist told metoday, I had a therapy session,
and she was like, I said, whydid you decompress with Secret
Lives of Mormon Wives?
My therapist said, oh, I watchedthat too on Sunday.
Therapist approved, Daniel.
Boom.
SPEAKER_01 (01:01:54):
I'm not watching it.
I didn't watch it.
The
SPEAKER_02 (01:01:56):
American Medical
Association.
No.
You are like one of the worstpeople that
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:01):
comes in.
Views expressed in this podcastare purely the opinions of the
two podcasters and should not betaken as legal advice or any
other.
Every
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:08):
time Daniel would
come into the room while I was
watching an episode, he'd belike, now which one are the
swingers?
And he would start asking me allkinds of questions about it to
the point.
And you did watch it while wewere eating, while we were
warming up our Chili's SouthwestDay Girls.
And he kept asking me so manyquestions.
I'm like, honey, I love when youparticipate, but
SPEAKER_01 (01:02:24):
shh.
I was just trying to participatewith your show.
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:27):
You're like the type
of person that would be like, I
don't want to watch this.
and then you do watch it and youask me 50 questions.
Anyway, season
SPEAKER_01 (01:02:33):
two...
It's a secret plan to get you tosay, hey, do you want to go eat
the rest of your food at yourcomputer?
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:39):
Season two brought
in one of the other girls that
were involved in the Sweeneyscandal.
So do I think that this gun ladydecided to, you know, be like,
okay, if my name might as wellget the bag, secure that money,
get that paycheck since she sawus.
Cause she, I guess had beenoffered season one and said, no,
she said she wanted to be backin a mom talk for the
(01:03:01):
sisterhood, the friendship.
But I think, I mean, get yourpaycheck.
I'm not gonna, I'm not, youknow, if your name's already out
there and people already know,
SPEAKER_01 (01:03:08):
you've already
debased yourself.
You've already debased yourselfin every other way.
So yeah, get paid.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:12):
And the thing is her
character actually was like one
of the more chill ones thisseason I really like the
addition of Miranda so she'sprobably one of my favorites but
if you watch this show Demi wasa fan favorite in season one.
But when you are a fan favorite, you don't reference yourself as
(01:03:35):
the fan favorite in season twowhen you're arguing with your
friends.
Talk about full-blown villainarc.
So she was my favorite fromseason one, and now she is
absolutely my least favorite.
So I don't watch the Vanderplumpshows, but I'm going to have to
because there was a crossoverevent with the Vanderplump
Villa.
Well, we find out at the veryend of this season that one of
(01:03:55):
the wives...
the Mormon wives supposedlyhooked up with someone from the
Vanderpump Villa.
And that was the cliffhangerthat they just left us on.
It's like
SPEAKER_01 (01:04:05):
Avengers Assemble
over here.
Justice League Unite.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:09):
I do think some of
the producers, you can tell now
that they know they gotsomething going on, they're kind
of doing, they're setting upscenarios for them.
They had a saints and sinnersparty, which I thought was
funny.
Because in season one, some ofthe girls that aren't as
strictly Mormon, I guess, as theothers, they call themselves the
sinners.
The other girl All of them doketamine
SPEAKER_01 (01:04:33):
theory.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:42):
We're not allowed to
drink caffeine.
Whitney and I did ketamine.
If you know, you know, anyway,Whitney was the villain from
season one, but then she leftthe mom talk group chat group
chat and didn't go to Taylor'sbaby shower in season.
Oh my God, which made everyonemad.
Whitney just had a baby.
Um, she had her baby in thebeginning of season two.
So she's trying to get back intomom talk.
(01:05:03):
And I think that's probablyproducer driven as well, but
Whitney was getting a straightup redemption arc.
I was loving Whitney.
And then at one point they werelike, do you want to vote
Whitney back into mom talk?
And Taylor was the only one thatraised her hand for yes.
so that was like mid seasonepisode so we get through
towards the end and they're allDemi's trying to get everybody
(01:05:23):
to turn on Taylor and freakingWhitney once again who I was
rooting for I was rooting foryou Whitney like turns her back
on Taylor now Taylor she is theOG the mom talk starter the
swinging scandal person she'shonestly I know that you're
gonna look at me and be likewhat the only one I would trust
she is said she does she ishonest to a fault she'll be like
(01:05:44):
yes we did this we did thisshe's like we all shower
together we all did these thingstogether she's just gonna always
say it even if it makes her lookbad she's always gonna tell the
truth I think she's the only onethat is not a liar And she's
like, even if it makes herselflook horrible.
So I'm team Taylor all the way.
And I'm just so mad thatWhitney's redemption arc got
kind of spoiled from this.
(01:06:06):
And I'm really shocked at theturn of the events with the
villains.
But one of the things theproducers did was super cruel.
They played pregnancy roulette, which apparently is a TikTok
trend where you get in a group, everyone pees on a stick and
maybe someone will be pregnantin the group.
But they did that knowing thatone of that two of the girls
were pregnant and didn't want toannounce it.
(01:06:26):
And that one of the girls hadfertility issues and I thought
that would not Netflix Hulu Ithought that was really cruel
that they that production hadthem play that game so you're
gonna get some minuses for me onthat because I didn't need that
we already have enough dramawithout it I didn't need that do
you have something to say beforeI say a couple more things about
this wonderful intelligent pieceof television
SPEAKER_01 (01:06:50):
Cassie that marker
in your mouth I peed on it
SPEAKER_02 (01:06:57):
Before Christmases.
Mistletoe.
Mistletoe.
SPEAKER_01 (01:07:01):
I'm crawling
mistletoe about you talking
about this show right now.
SPEAKER_02 (01:07:04):
Okay, well, I have
to talk about Zach, Jen's
husband, who they are now sayingthat they are not related to Ben
Affleck.
Jen Affleck, Zach Affleck.
They said in season one theywere related to Ben Affleck.
It came out that they weren't.
And now Zach was basically likegaslighting Jen saying like, oh,
my family was always just jokingabout this.
And she's like, what?
No, you told me it was true.
So they tried to make Jen alittle villainy at the
(01:07:26):
beginning.
But I think while she did lieabout stuff, I think it was to
people, please.
But Zach, who looks like thelittle evil villain from The
Incredibles.
First, he looked like Cody fromSister Wives with the long hair.
Now, you know, like the littleevil villain in The Incredibles
that's like that's trying to belike an evil little superhero.
That's who he looks like now.
(01:07:46):
Did he come off better in seasontwo?
Of course.
But I'm not buying it.
I'm not buying it, y'all.
If you watch this show, I thinkthat Zach is now very well aware
of the cameras and was trying tomake himself look good.
So he's still nothing to me.
In fact, almost all these menare just gag, puke, don't like
any of them.
(01:08:09):
Yeah, Secret Lives of MormonWives.
What did you think for the fewepisodes that you saw?
Because you certainly had a lotto say when I was trying to
watch it the other night.
You kept asking me questions.
SPEAKER_01 (01:08:18):
It's like a blank
slate, me thinking back to it
right now.
What's her face?
The girl whose mom looks exactlylike her because of plastic
surgery was telling her babydaddy that they couldn't hang
out anymore and that...
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:32):
Oh, her family made
me so mad
SPEAKER_01 (01:08:33):
this season.
He was supposed to...
I don't know.
It was really awkward.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:37):
That was at the
barbecue, though, event, which I
don't think you watched thatepisode.
Taylor's family basicallyblamed...
Taylor's problems with Dakotabecause Taylor slept with him
and her dad was like, what doesthat say about you?
Oh yeah,
SPEAKER_01 (01:08:54):
you told me about
that.
That was horrible.
These all seem like terriblepeople that I wouldn't want to
hang out with.
So I don't know why I want towatch a TV show about them.
I would
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:02):
get my extensions
done by Jay-Z Styles.
That's one of the girls on theshow.
I like their hair.
All nice and long and pretty.
And I want a dirty soda.
SPEAKER_01 (01:09:14):
We appreciate you
coming and listening to us this
week.
We had a great time.
Or at least I did.
Listened to Hope rant about StarWars.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:22):
I didn't rant.
SPEAKER_01 (01:09:24):
We have good Star
Trek news, though.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:26):
You couldn't let
this episode end without a Star
SPEAKER_01 (01:09:29):
Trek.
Strange New Worlds Season 3 willbe premiering July 17th.
Finally, a date.
Why did they make us wait solong to know a date?
None of us will ever know.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:40):
Well, we do have a
couple more shows we want to
talk about, but because for thesake of time, I don't want to be
accused of being like and orseason one and just rambling on.
We will be resuming probablydiscussions.
We're coming towards the end ofhacks.
So we're going to talk aboutthat in an upcoming episode.
We're going to talk about thefinale of ghosts.
We did finish that as well.
And we have started the studio.
(01:10:01):
Yep.
SPEAKER_01 (01:10:02):
Apple TV.
So we will
SPEAKER_02 (01:10:03):
be talking about all
of those.
Hopefully next week.
Maybe we'll talk about anotherchain restaurant.
I don't know.
I don't know.
SPEAKER_01 (01:10:11):
Where should we go?
Tell us.
I don't know.
Fan mellows.
Where should we go next to addto our list?
We've got three on the listright now.
We need to add a fourth.
All right.

SPEAKER_02 (01:10:20):
