Speaker 00 (00:00):
Just to be clear, you want me to talk nonstop Star
Trek this entire episode.
That is the only thing you wantto hear out of my voice.

Speaker 01 (00:07):
Yes.

Speaker 00 (00:08):
You're absolutely positive that's all you want me
to talk about.
Yes.
So you like Star Trek just asmuch as I do, if not more.

Speaker 01 (00:14):
Man, I'm such a loser.

Speaker 00 (00:16):
I mean, I don't know that I'd go that far.
What did you think of the mostrecent episode of Star Trek
Strange New Worlds?

Speaker 01 (00:22):
And I kept kind of nodding off.
Sigh.

Speaker 00 (00:40):
Hey, everybody, and welcome to We Watch TV.
It is the podcast about the TVthat we watch.
I am Daniel.
She is Hope.
This is episode 111.
She isn't really Hope thisweek, though.
I am going solo in this effortonce again.
Hope's down with a bit of astrong migraine, so I'm just
trying to fill the gap, get anepisode out there, get you guys

(01:03):
some content going into the endof July, early August.
So wish Hope the very best inher recovery.
She's feeling fine.
Just wasn't quite up for thepodcast, and I was like, I have
some funny stuff to play aroundwith.
So you may have noticed in theintro I had a few things to say.
Hope, how are you feeling rightnow?

Speaker 01 (01:22):
And I kept kind of nodding off.

Speaker 00 (01:24):
Yeah, I know.
It's going to be that kind ofepisode.
I've got a– in her absence, Imade a Hope-flavored soundboard
on my computer to play some ofher greatest hits.
Yes.
So thank you.
I'm very excited to get intothat and play around a little
bit with it.
So with that in mind, let's goahead and kick it off.

(01:45):
Hope's favorite topic, collegefootball.
We're here at the end of July.
August is a-coming, and so iscollege football.
Hope, let me ask you, whatabout your favorite team?

Speaker 01 (01:54):
Oh, my God.
The Longhorns are going to beour number one?

Speaker 00 (01:58):
I thought it was the West Virginia Mountaineers, but
things change, so who knows.
All right, that's collegefootball out of the way.
We have watched a couple oftelevision shows in our couple
weeks absence here, starting, ofcourse, Star Trek Strange New
Worlds Season 3.
We've got three episodes inalready.

(02:18):
They gave us two episodes tostart with.
Third episode last week.
I think it was very good.
I've enjoyed it a lot.
I hope I think it would echowith me.
The first episode of the seasonwas a part two, finishing up
the cliffhanger from season two.
I've never been a huge fan ofpart two episodes for some

(02:40):
reason.
They've just never quite...
done it for me part one alwaysseems to be a better episode
they're building that tensionthey're building the drama
they're building the what'sgoing to happen and then the
what happens at the end to sewit up just never really pays it
off and in this particularsituation where we're talking
about a show like Star TrekStrange New Worlds it only gets
10 episodes a season it feels itwasn't a bad episode but it

(03:06):
feels like Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
So, Hope, is Star Trek yourfavorite show?

Speaker 01 (03:33):
Man, I'm such a loser.

Speaker 00 (03:34):
So, anyway, so that's Star Trek, Strange New
Worlds, three episodes out.
Really just back to form.
A little disappointed thatwe're only going to get ten
episodes.
We're only going to get twomore seasons, and the fifth
season's going to be a littleshortened.
But whatever, we've got to dowith what we can do with.
We also watched severalepisodes of And Just Like That.

(03:55):
Oh, there's my computer noise.
That's going to have to stayin.
I don't know what episode lastwe talked about, but we have
watched all the way up toepisode eight of season three of
And Just Like That.
And let me tell you something.
This show is terrible.
Hope, what do you think?

Speaker 01 (04:12):
I'm peopled out.

Speaker 00 (04:13):
Yeah, I agree.
I just don't know what they'redoing with this show.
But I will say one thing.
When they get rid of Aiden, theshow's better.
And they introduce the basementdweller man.
For season three, Duncan.
I made a Duncan's Choi chestjoke immediately.

(04:36):
If you know, you know.
He and Carrie have way morejust whatever the term is
called.
Hope, do you have anything forme?
No, apparently she doesn't atall.

Speaker 01 (04:51):
And I kept kind of nodding off.

Speaker 00 (04:53):
Yeah, it happens a little bit with this show.
It gets boring.
There's only a couplestorylines that are interesting
whatsoever.
And it's just...
I'm sure we'll talk about itmore when Hope is feeling better
and gets back on the show.
But leave it at that.
And Just Like That is still outthere doing its thing, which
isn't very good.
And I don't know.

(05:15):
They haven't announced a seasonfour.
I...
At this point, I'm not evensure how they're going to wrap
this season up, but there isthat.
We've also got The Summer ITurned Pretty, Season 3.
I have not been watching thiswith Hope.
She watches this by herself, secreted away.

(05:37):
I'm not allowed to speak to herwhile this show is on, so I do
have a hastily typed textmessage that I'm going to read
for everyone's enjoyment now.
This is exactly what it saysverbatim, so if the lingo is the
lingo, I don't speak the summerI turn pretty lingo.

(05:58):
Team Conrad, juror is goingdown.
Okay.
Bonrad will rise.
Endgame might come to fruitiondifferently.
But I, hope, believe Belly andConrad will win.

(06:20):
Here's the thing.
I don't know what words, whatproper nouns in that are ship
names or not.
Because it's my understandingBelly is the name of the actual
character in this show, which...
Whatever.
Oh, there's one part I forgotto read.
Steven and Taylor will bein-game.

(06:43):
So, there you go, everybody.
You're hot and just, or not,the summer I turned pretty
action.
Oh, I forgot to use this one.
So here, let's see.
Hope believes her endgame willcome to fruition, just in a

(07:04):
different manner.
But still, something tocelebrate.

Speaker 01 (07:10):
Man, I'm such a loser.
Yes!

Speaker 00 (07:13):
So, Summer I Turned Pretty, Star Trek Strange New
Worlds, and just like that.
Main shows we're watching.
We've also been watchingBachelor in Paradise.
That show's a hot mess.
Um...
They brought the old people infrom the Golden Years show,
which did make it somewhat morewatchable, but still pretty much

(07:36):
still just a turn in a punchbowl of the show.
And now they're changing theformat.
So we just watched...
We haven't watched the episodethat comes out that is airing on
July 28th.
So starting with that episode, they're moving it into some sort
of competition show.
And I understand that Bachelorin Paradise has always been some

(07:58):
sort of competition show, butthis is like...
actually competition and itjust it seems really dumb i'm
probably going to have to peaceout on that i don't think i'm
going to be interested at all inthat so i'm just going to give
you guys the heads up now thatthat show is really going
downhill i didn't think it hadthat far to go but apparently
the hill is a very large hilland it's got a lot farther to

(08:19):
roll than i thought it didbecause it just looks like it's
getting stupider and stupiderEvery single week.
So we're watching that.
We watched Happy Gilmore 2 onNetflix.
I think we'll save commentaryuntil Hope gets back for that
one.
Enjoyed it.
We both enjoyed it.
So if you haven't watched ityet, go out and check that out.

(08:41):
It was pretty good.
And then I can't think ofanything else that there is to
talk about.
You guys keep trying to get meto watch Love Island.
Here's the thing with LoveIsland, folks.
I'm just going to level withyou.
It's on Peacock.
We don't have Peacock.
And no one's been able toconvince me that it's worth
whatever it is to do Peacock.

(09:03):
I think we've used all of ouremail accounts to get the free
30 days, and I just don't haveit in me.
And is it a competition showlike they're turning Bachelor in
Paradise into?
I'm not interested in that.
there's just nothing about thatshow that I have interest in.
I know you all, you want me tolisten to it.
I understand.
I have incredible opinionsabout television and you all

(09:24):
really want to know what theyare, but some things are just,
they're just not doable.
So I don't think that's goingto happen for you.
I'm sorry.
Um, a couple of things to lookforward to.
We will be seeing fantastic forcoming up here in the next week
or so.
So we should be talking aboutthat, continuing to talk about
all of the shows that we, um,have been watching, which is

(09:47):
like just the baseline thing wedo on this show.
So if you're unfamiliar and youmade it this far and you have
no idea what we do on this show,we talk about television, um,
just the television we watchonly the television we watch.
And if you don't like that, I'mnot sure why you're this far
into this podcast episode.
Listen to me rant and go onanyways.

(10:08):
So now we're gonna talk aboutStar Trek.
So Star Trek, the nextgeneration, um,

Speaker 01 (10:15):
I

Speaker 00 (10:20):
do really feel like I'm with you.
I'm

Speaker 01 (10:23):
peopled out.
I

Speaker 00 (10:24):
agree.

Speaker 01 (10:24):
And I kept kind of nodding off.
Yes.

Speaker 00 (10:32):
I'm really like, if you can't tell, just over the
moon with myself on thissoundboard here.
I will not be allowed to usethis during regular podcast
episodes, only when I'mrecording just by myself down in
the secret of my basement.
So don't get too excited ifthat's a feature that you like,
because Hope is never going tolet that fly.
Oh,

Speaker 01 (10:48):
my God.
The lawn horns are going to beour number

Speaker 00 (10:53):
one.
So anyways, all that said, again, everybody.
If you haven't already, go outthere to your favorite social
media platform.
And when I say favorite, I meanInstagram because it's the only
account we have.
And give us a like.
Give us a share.
Let us see what we can do toget some new followers and grow
this podcast a little bit.
And I do appreciate you turninginto this episode.

(11:14):
Hope, anything else you want tosay?
Yes.
What's that?

Speaker 01 (11:18):
I'm peopled out.

Speaker 00 (11:21):
I agree.
I'm also peopled out.
So I will see you all nexttime.
Thank you.
