Speaker 01 (00:00):
Hey, everybody, and welcome to We Watch TV.
It is the podcast about the TVthat we watch.
I am Daniel.
She is Hope.
You have your hand up.
Do you have a question?

Speaker 03 (00:21):
No.
It's a thing.

Speaker 01 (00:27):
She's back.
She's back, everybody.
As you can tell, she's back.
Everything is back to normalhere in the house.

Speaker 03 (00:33):
I'm drying off

Speaker 01 (00:37):
my hand right now.
That just brought morequestions to the people.
Now they want to know why yourhand's wet.
Boy, I'm missing my Hopesoundboard, though.
I'll tell you.
I

Speaker 03 (00:51):
hated that.

Speaker 01 (00:52):
What hate?
That's so strong.

Speaker 02 (00:55):
And guess what?
You were like, go ahead andgive this a listen.
So I decided to listen to itwhen I'm coming off the
migraine.
And I get the...
And I was like, okay, one time, whatever.
Then it happened again.
And I yelled at you about that.
I was like, you could havewarned me.
And you didn't warn me that youdid it again at the end.

Speaker 01 (01:12):
If you're unfamiliar with what we're talking about,
last episode, episode 111, Iwent solo because Hope was
having a migraine, and I pulledout all the stops and created my
own.

Speaker 03 (01:23):
The Longhorns are not my favorite team.
Am I excited for the return offootball season?
Yes.
What do you really think aboutfootball season, getting the
band back together?
Rich Rod, Pat Weitz on thecoaching staff.
I wish we could suit up.
No,

Speaker 01 (01:39):
I'm not interested.
WVU football is going to be agiant disappointment.
Yeah, that's all I'm doing.
It's so very distracting.
You

Speaker 03 (01:47):
think it's going to be a giant disappointment?

Speaker 01 (01:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 03 (01:49):
I think this season is going to be the transition
season.

Speaker 01 (01:52):
Which is going to be a giant disappointment.

Speaker 03 (01:54):
I mean, it's not going to be any worse than the
suffering that we went in theprevious era of coaching.

Speaker 01 (02:01):
Okay.
You're confident in that.

Speaker 03 (02:06):
I mean, like, we might not win as many games as
that, but I feel like going, like, just in general.
I know that this coach is notgoing to go up to the coach at
Pitt and be like, I don't seewhat the big deal is before a
major rivalry game.
And let's just say, I think,oh, Rich knows he needs to win
that game.
The pressure

Speaker 01 (02:27):
is on.
I agree.
He definitely knows he has towin it.
I had to put that out there

Speaker 03 (02:32):
since you had the audacity to include that in the
soundboard.

Speaker 01 (02:35):
It was just your own words.
Everything that I had on thesoundboard was just your own
words.
If

Speaker 03 (02:41):
I was tech savvy, I would do something like that for
you.
But I'd probably just get abunch of size grants.
It was fine.
It was fine.

Speaker 01 (02:50):
Chips! Star Trek! If you can find the soundbites
that you want, I'll clip themand make you your own
soundboard.
You can make your own soloepisode and you can roast me all
you want.

Speaker 03 (03:00):
But are you going to talk about what happened...
Last week when we were talkingabout Star Trek to ourselves in
the kitchen and how youbrainwashed

Speaker 01 (03:09):
me.
You mean when you were talkingabout Star Trek and I was
talking about Bachelor inParadise?

Speaker 03 (03:15):
That happened too?

Speaker 01 (03:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 03 (03:17):
Oh man.
I

Speaker 01 (03:20):
was talking about Bachelor in Paradise and talking
about some of the things theywere doing with the show that
we'll probably get into later inthis episode and you
interrupted me to talk aboutStar Trek.

Speaker 03 (03:29):
Oh, see, that's not what I was thinking about.
I've done this twice now.
Yeah.
Why am I being brainwashed byyou?
What else has happened?
The previous episode of StrangeNew Worlds that we just
finished, I think episode four, was directed by Jonathan Frakes.

Speaker 01 (03:43):
Yes.
Oh, that's okay.

Speaker 03 (03:44):
I remember now.
And will you tell the peoplewhat happened?
What did I say in mysoundboard?
I'm such a loser.

Speaker 01 (03:51):
I pronounced it Jonathan Frakes.
And you corrected me toJonathan Frakes.

Speaker 03 (03:57):
You mean Frakes.
And then I looked at you andwas like, what have I done?

Speaker 01 (04:05):
All I'm hearing here is I'm winning the war.
I'll lose a battle here andnow, but I'm losing the war.

Speaker 03 (04:11):
We're talking about Bachelor in Paradise Unprovoked,
so you're not that much of awinner.

Speaker 01 (04:15):
Yeah, but I got you to be talking about Star Trek in
that moment.

Speaker 03 (04:19):
All right.
Anyway, we have a show comingback on Wednesday.
Wednesday.
Wednesday.
What show?
Wednesday.
No,

Speaker 01 (04:29):
I know it's on Wednesday.
What show?
It's coming back on Wednesday.
On Wednesday.
Yeah, I get it.
What's the show?
The

Speaker 03 (04:34):
show Wednesday.
You know what I'm talkingabout.
Wednesday, first half, seasontwo, dropping on Netflix on
Wednesday.

Speaker 01 (04:43):
Oh, Wednesday Adams.
Okay, got it.

Speaker 03 (04:46):
Are you really just now not knowing or are you
trying to do a bit?

Speaker 01 (04:48):
It's a bit.
Or is it?

Speaker 03 (04:53):
Okay.
I really want to get theWednesday Wendy's meal that I
keep telling you about that hasthe sauces of doom and you don't
know what one you're going toget and has the spoon of...

Speaker 01 (05:03):
See, here's the thing.
Nothing about what you'vedescribed to me here makes sense
with you.
I like trying different sauces.
You're telling me you want toget a meal that comes with
mystery sauces that you don'tknow what they are.
Well,

Speaker 03 (05:15):
I'll try them and then I'll probably just eat them
with ranch, but I want to atleast try them.
I like all the...
Well, we've already had thepackaging because we've since
been to...
Now I can say to Wednesday, toWendy's.
Is that why you don't want toorder that?
You don't want to go to thespeaker and be like, I'd like
the Wednesday meal.

Speaker 01 (05:30):
If you tell me that I have to go to Wendy's.
and purchase the Wednesday mealand say whatever weird with the
what sauce, whatever.
You

Speaker 03 (05:41):
don't get to pick the sauces.

Speaker 01 (05:42):
It's a surprise.
I'm going to download the app.
It comes

Speaker 03 (05:45):
with nuggets, fries, and then they give you random
sauces, and they give you afrosty, a special frosty that's
like cherry sauce that lookslike blood.
I've told you this like 50

Speaker 01 (05:53):
times.
But I'm not going to order allthat verbally, so I will just
download the app.
You just say I want the

Speaker 03 (05:57):
Wednesday meal.
You can't say that?

Speaker 01 (06:01):
That's it.
That's all you got to say.
I feel like there's more to itthan that.

Speaker 03 (06:04):
If you had to spell it out, because when you were
little, you know how I would belike Wednesday?

Speaker 01 (06:08):
Wednesday, yeah.
I still say that in my headevery time I say Wednesday.
You'd

Speaker 03 (06:11):
be like, I want the Wednesday meal.
When you were younger, did theymake your parents ever make you
like...
order at the drive-thruyourself.
My mom used to pull the car up,roll the backseat of the window
down, and had me order to getpractice talking to others.
And I used to always wonder, why would she do that?

(06:33):
And then I met you guys when itwould be a 30-minute argument
with tears involved over who hadto call Domino's with your
family.
I was like, that must be whymom made me talk to people.

Speaker 01 (06:44):
I can confirm that.
However...
I used to call.
I will note, the tears weren'tfrom me.
There were other people in thefamily with the tears involved.
Then why didn't

Speaker 03 (06:52):
you step up to order?

Speaker 01 (06:53):
Because I didn't want to.
Calling people on the phone islike the worst thing ever.

Speaker 03 (07:01):
It truly is terrible.

Speaker 01 (07:03):
Like ever.
Like I need to be on...
I need to be medicated in orderto make phone calls.
Okay.

Speaker 03 (07:09):
So circling back to not Wendy's, but to Wednesday
season two.

Speaker 01 (07:14):
As in Wednesday Adams, the character.
As in Wednesday

Speaker 03 (07:16):
Adams

Speaker 01 (07:17):
of the Adams family.
Not the day of the week.

Speaker 03 (07:19):
She is returning to the Nevermore Academy.
A lot of stuff happened lastseason.
Her boyfriend ended up beinglike the monster murderer guy,
but we're still going to, Istill ship them though.

Speaker 01 (07:30):
Speaking of which, that was one of our very first
episodes of the podcast.
So if you're interested ingoing back and listening to our
thoughts on season one ofWednesday.

Speaker 03 (07:41):
Like the whole season.

Speaker 01 (07:42):
Like the whole season.
It's back there somewhere.
I

Speaker 03 (07:46):
feel like it was one of our, not the first, but at
least in that first group offive episodes, right?

Speaker 01 (07:52):
I think so, somewhere in there.
We started naming them funny.

Speaker 03 (07:55):
But we're getting the first half, and then we get
the second half in September.
So that's basically what Iremember.
I think Christina Ricci'scharacter who played Wednesday
Adams in the movies from the90s, she ended up being the
villain in the first season,right?
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (08:09):
Episode 6, Pilgrims or something.

Speaker 03 (08:13):
Yeah, because they went to that pilgrim place.
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (08:16):
So somewhere in that realm is when we're talking
about it.

Speaker 03 (08:18):
All I know is I'm excited.
The trailer had me laughingbecause she's going through TSA
security and they're like, okay, you have to, we have to search
your bag.
So she's like pulling out likeall these different weapons,
like a sword, like a knife.
Like I think, what are thoselike ring?
I don't know what that'scalled.
Brass knuckles.
Brass knuckles.
And then the guy's like thisreally?
And she's like sun creambecause the hand guy brought the

(08:42):
sun cream.
So sunscreen, suntan lotion, because of course it's, And
being somebody at the airportwho one time you forgot to toss
out our sunscreen and thatcaused you to get your entire
bag searched.
So that was fun.

Speaker 01 (08:55):
He had to touch my underwear just because I had
sunscreen.

Speaker 03 (08:58):
You had him in a packing cube.
Why do you have to be so weird?

Speaker 01 (09:03):
Anyways, we'll be watching that this week.
So look forward to next week'sepisode when we talk about
Wednesday, the show aboutWednesday Adams, not the day of
the week or the...
windies which is the

Speaker 03 (09:15):
but we might talk about how good the sauces are
for the windies do

Speaker 01 (09:20):
you get all the sauces like or do you have to go
multiple times to get

Speaker 03 (09:24):
like literally did you not even hear me it's like
when i talk to you like whatwhat can what goes on in your
brain are you like spot kirkspot kirk Because I've told you
three times or more that youdon't know what...
They give you, I think, likethree, and there's different
ones, and you don't know whichones you're going to get.
So

Speaker 01 (09:41):
to review them all, the question that I just asked,
which still stands...

Speaker 03 (09:44):
But I don't think you can request

Speaker 01 (09:45):
them.
To review them all, you'regoing to have to go multiple
times until you get them all.
So this is another Coke Zeronightmare.
No,

Speaker 03 (09:52):
because I just really want it one time, and I
don't care too much.
I just like all the cute stuff.
No, the Coke...
The Coke Zero and regular, Ihaven't even seen them on
regular Coke around here, eventhough they're at other places.
I am going to gatekeep.
I'm going to do it.
Anakin has always been my boo.

(10:13):
Day one.
I had to suffer almost nearbullying from Star Wars fans.
Anakin Skywalker.
Anakin Skywalker, duh.
The

Speaker 01 (10:21):
fictional character from Star Wars.

Speaker 03 (10:22):
Not Wednesday.
Who's

Speaker 01 (10:24):
now moniker is on a can of pop.

Speaker 03 (10:27):
Yes.
I had to suffer near bullyingfrom Star Wars fans about how
much I like Anakin.
You can never get a word inedgewise with someone in your
ear about how terrible theprequels were.
How annoying Hayden Christensenwas.
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Well, suddenly, just as, youknow, I'm right, always right.
Sometimes it takes 20 years toprove my point Suddenly, Anakin,
and it's not just women.

(10:47):
Men.
And

Speaker 01 (10:49):
children.
Would you say and children aswell?

Speaker 03 (10:52):
I hate them.
Suddenly, they're all wantingthe Anakin cans.
Every time we got into thestore, somebody has clearly been
doing what we are, lookingunder the handles for the Anakin
cans.
My friend who lives in Atlantawent to the big Coke store and
they told her the Anakin wassold out.
And it's not fair becausepeople like me, I deserve it.

(11:13):
I should be granted the rank ofmaster and get my Anakin can.
It's not fair.
If anybody, listeners, any ofyou finds an Anakin can or a
bottle, please give it to me.
So far, I have a million Layas,Yodas, and I don't even like
Coke Zero.
It's gross.
Team Diet Coke.
I don't know why they put thisstuff on Diet Coke.
I just want it.
I would pay if I could orderlike a key.

(11:34):
I'd probably pay like $100 if Icould order the Anakin can.
Please.

Speaker 01 (11:39):
Somebody.
Somebody remind me to cancelher debit card.
I told you I found an Anakin.
What?
A crispy one.
A crispy Anakin.

Speaker 03 (11:50):
Oh.
You mean Darth Vader?
Yeah.
You, hmm.
I really thought you weretelling me that you found a
mannequin and didn't buy it.
I was going to cancel thispodcast and force choke.
You turned her against me.

Speaker 01 (12:07):
All right, everybody.
So some television has beenwatched.
Now, of course, if you listenedto last week's episode, you'd
know that I covered all the TVthat we've been watching in
detail and read your commentaryverbatim.
So I don't really know how muchwe've got to talk about here.
But I guess we'll go ahead andget started.
And you have watched anotherepisode of this since that

(12:27):
podcast.
So I guess you've got some newstuff to talk about.
The Summer I Turned Prettyseason three.
Season three, which is thefinal season.
Season three, which is thefinal season.
And we've got four episodes?

Speaker 03 (12:40):
Yes.
So far?
It's on Amazon Prime.
And you read my notes, but Iactually, when I wrote my notes,
I was like...
He's going to, instead ofsaying Jer, because you know,
that's what it is.
I was like, Daniel's going tomake a funny and be like, Jer.
And it's like, do I know myhusband or

Speaker 01 (12:58):
do I know my husband?
One, I did pronounce it Jer.
Two, it wasn't a joke.
Because three, the lettersJ-E-R, like that, are pronounced
Jer.
You knew that it was Jer.

Speaker 03 (13:09):
You knew.

Speaker 01 (13:10):
No, I didn't.

Speaker 03 (13:10):
You knew.
No, I didn't.
You knew.
I did like how you said, thisis the show.
I'm not allowed to talk duringit.
Because you aren't.
Like, you'll come up.
Like, one time he was trying towatch one.
I think you're just up thereeating with me.
And.

Speaker 01 (13:22):
Heaven forbid.

Speaker 03 (13:23):
You were like.
You just started, like, talkingduring it.
And, like, you were trying tocommentate on the episode.
And I was like, this is notalking zone.
And I had to keep pausing it.
I'm like, excuse me.
Shh.
Shh.
This would be like basicallythe equivalent of how like One
Tree Hill and The O.C.
used to be for me when theywould air.

(13:44):
Only I was so much more wellfed by like 20 plus episode
seasons with those.
But this is like...
that for me like in like howearly days of Grey's Anatomy
used to be when it was reallygood like do not talk to me
while I watch this show yourcommentary is not appreciated if
you would like to speak aboutthe episode after you may do so

Speaker 01 (14:01):
okay I have a question before you proceed okay
does she turn prettier everysummer because I know it's three
the third season now but it'seach one is taking place during
the summer so she turns prettyone summer does she keep getting
prettier each consecutivesummer I

Speaker 03 (14:15):
mean I guess but that's not it's not the summer I
the summer I turn pretty is inthe name of the first book and
And then it's like, we'll alwayshave summer or something.
I don't remember what the namesof the other two.
So the other two books arenamed something different, but
they called the series TheSummer I Turned Pretty.
We got season one all at once, and they kind of incorporated
some elements of the other booksinto season one because they

(14:36):
weren't sure that it was goingto massively blow up and be such
a hit.
I mean, the books are supereasy.
I think I read the first bookin like a day.
this is a rare one of the rareinstances where I can say and I
think I've said this before thatI do like the show better than
the book I think belly yes thatis her name her name is Isabel
but they call her belly for somereason I don't know why they

(14:57):
don't call her Izzy I think Iknow she's quirky she's not like
other girls I don't know theycall her belly and pork belly
correct on that oh don't callher that um but belly in the
show and I've seen peoplecomplain about her and yes she
did really tick me off in thelast episode which I'll get to
in a minute but she is more oflike agency she's more She's a

(15:18):
better character, I feel like,in the show than she is the
books.
And if you are just a showwatcher, you might be like, oh
my gosh, really?
Yes.
And I think a lot of that isbecause the actress, Lola Tan,
is such a good actress.
And they've given Belly alittle bit more depth.
All the characters, I think, have gotten a little bit more
depth than what we got in thebooks.
and almost and it's just it'sone of those rare instances that

(15:40):
like some of the stuff becausethe books are pretty like
juvenile and like some of theplot points they've changed a
little bit um to make the showbetter to make it more like a
show and Jenny Han who wrote thebooks also does the show so
that fits so anyway we got thefirst two episodes which I
believe you said this is I thinkwe it's finishing on I think
September 17th will be the lastepisode so we got the first two

(16:02):
episodes and then it's thepainful weekly release and it is
a painful I need to know why.
In shows like this where I amgetting limited episodes, why
are you giving me fillerepisodes?
Why did I have to wait in thelast episode like over 20
minutes for Conrad to be on myscreen?
That is stupid.

(16:23):
I'm fine with filler episodeswhen it's 20 plus seasons.
This is dumb.
One of the things that theyhave done this season and they
have chosen to give some othercharacters like Taylor's mom.
One, Taylor is in the books buther character is very different
on the show and I didn't likeher in the So I do like her
better in the show.
But I really don't care abouther and her mom and her mom

(16:43):
losing her salon.
And I don't care about Steven'snew co-worker.
I don't care about thesecharacters.
They serve no purpose.
I don't need them wastingscreen time.
So that's my biggest complaintso far about the season is...
Why are we doing this?
I'm really here to see thebelly Jeremiah Conrad story.
We're really belly Conradbecause Jeremiah.

(17:04):
I'm really here for that.
That triangle.

Speaker 01 (17:07):
I'm going to get that sound.
That sound you just made rightthere is going to be on the
soundboard.
I

Speaker 03 (17:12):
do like Steven and Taylor.
I really came to like them as acouple last season.
And that is one thing I don'tknow because they were not.
I mean, I think they hooked upin the first book, but they were
not a thing.
They were not a romantic thing.
I do believe that they will bein game because I think a lot
lot of fans like them butthey're probably going to make
Stephen date his dumb stupidco-worker Denise D nice and I'm

(17:32):
just not I'm just not interestedin that it's just a waste so I
am a book reader obviously Iknow how the books end I am
fully confident the show isgoing to end the way the books
ended spoiler alert again we area spoiler podcast turn away
right now skip to the nextchapter the books end with belly
and Conrad together because itis their story all right so

(17:53):
right now she is with Jeremiah I

Speaker 02 (17:55):
don't think

Speaker 03 (17:56):
I don't...
I'm not even responding tothat.
I don't think that...
They keep saying that they'vechanged the end.
I think they're just changingthe way they get to the end.
I think a lot of people arereally worried that Belly's
going to pull a Kelly Taylor andchoose herself.
I think she might do that, butI think we're going to have a
time jump.

(18:17):
There was a time jump in thebooks as well.
She and Conrad, there wereseveral years removed before
they got back together.
They wrote letters.
I think we're going to dosomething similar to that.
Absolutely, I think we're goingto get the Bond writing game,
so I'm not really worried aboutthat.
I do think the execution, that's going to be what?
is key as a book reader one ofthe things I hope they would

(18:38):
change was the wedding plotbecause she and Jeremiah get
like engaged and the only thingthey changed about it is instead
of like the two-year time jumpwe got a four-year time jump so
they're 20 I think he's like 22she's 21 Jeremiah party too much
couldn't be bothered to read anemail and now he's gonna have
to repeat his senior or takethat repeat a senior year of
college but he's gonna have tobe a super senior and basically

(19:00):
like stay for one more semesterbelly has one more year of
school left and I like some ofthe rare jellyfish.
That's what their ship name is.
Belly Jeremiah fans are like, Idon't see why everybody's.
Yeah, we don't like them.
I don't see why everyone'sfreaking out about this.
And like, I feel like LaurelBelly's mom was like, you know,
fine.
Wait a year then.
Like finish school.

(19:21):
I know I can't talk muchbecause you and I got married
very young, but we were donewith school.
We weren't like we were in themiddle of school.
And this is clearly was anengagement after we had our we
have ourselves a Ross Rachelsituation.
on a break, breakup, whateveryou want to call it, with Belly
and Jeremiah.
Yes, that did happen in thebooks.
I thought that's something

Speaker 01 (19:41):
they might change.
Just raise my, the way youflowed that last conversation
for a second, I thought you weretalking about us for a minute.
And I was like, well, I don'tremember any of that.

Speaker 03 (19:49):
No, no, no, no.
It's Belly Jeremiah.
Back to the characters.
We have a Ross Rachel typesituation on our hands with a
break.
That did happen in the books.
One of the things I thought forthe show, I thought the show
might change that a little bit.
Because in the books, it wasalmost like, oh, wow, like,
Jeremiah's so, like...
immature you find out once heand belly get together she sees

(20:09):
this other side of him she hadreally only seen like the fun
beachy vacation at theircousin's beach every summer
that's the name of the beachthey're not cousins it's got
cousin's beach so don't besnarky daniel and i thought that
they might like actually goeasier on jeremiah's character
since they're trying to make ita mystery and there are a lot of
people that do like those twotogether no they went harder at

(20:32):
it like they made it worse theymade the whole like cheating i
don't I personally wouldconsider it cheating and I was
always on Rachel's side toobecause to me if you truly love
somebody so much like thatyou're not going to go out and
like sleep with the first thingthat you see within five
seconds.
So whatever you want to do Idon't you know argue argue with

(20:52):
that what you want that's stilla very hurtful thing.
So Jeremiah in the books onlylike cheated like one time like
he hooked up with the sameperson twice and And Cabo in the
show.
And they're just making it wayworse.
They made the proposal wayworse.
Because they had Steven get inan accident.
He's fine.
So he like proposes to her likeoutside of the hospital.
Like talk about emotionalmanipulation.

(21:13):
Like it's just.
And I feel like with thefandom.
That most people are on theright side of history.
Team Conrad.
Because it's ultimately theirstory.
Like Belly is still in lovewith Conrad.
Duh.
Like they still.
Like there's still feelingsthere.
And.
A lot of the people that likeJeremiah, I think like him
because the actor's cute.

(21:34):
And it's just like a lot ofyounger kids, like people that
are watching it not with likelife experience.
I haven't seen a lot ofgrownups that like that ship.
So whatever.
I think they're like, I wasactually surprised.
That's my biggest take.
I was like, wow, they're goingworse on Jeremiah than I
thought.
Then I thought, then theyactually had him be supportive
about Belly getting a summerabroad, not a summer, a year

(21:55):
abroad in Paris.
And they flipped that in thelast episode where Belly was
like, you know what?
I don't want to leave you.
I think I'm going to stay.
And he's like, oh, good.
I want you to stay.
And I'm like, oh.
So my millennial heart as awoman, I'm taken back to a
little show I like to call TheHills, which was a spinoff of
Laguna Beach where LaurenConrad, last name not related to
Conrad of the show, she willalways be the girl that's going

(22:17):
to go to Paris.
And she chose to stay withJason, who she's not with to
this day, instead of going toParis.
My millennial people know whatI'm talking about.
But anyway, all that beingsaid, I'm still really enjoying
the show.
I think it's just going to be alittle painful for a minute.
We had the whole episode revealin episode, I think it was
episode three, where theyrevealed the engagement and

(22:39):
everyone like flipped out aboutit.
And Adam, that's Conrad andJeremiah's dad who is played.
by the drummer from Ooh, ThatThing You Do.
I usually hate Adam, but theway he was clocking Jeremiah
left and right, he's like, howare you going to pay for that?
With what?
And it was just funny.
anyway I think their dad isreally mean and a jerk but that

(23:00):
he did serve some reality truthsthere the last episode probably
is where the first time Belly'sreally made me mad in the show
because I didn't I felt like sheand Jeremiah were like mean
like to Conrad like theybasically Belly has a fit she
runs out of the house becauseLaurel's still not supportive of
the marriage they go to thebeach house and Conrad's been

(23:20):
hanging out at the beach housebecause he came home for the
memorial got this news dumpedlike dumped on him that his
brother is like engaged to hisex-girlfriend and he's just been
out there like trying to youknow get his head right before
he flies back out and he has tosee them and he tells Jeremiah
basically he's trying to he'slike it's a little ridiculous

(23:40):
that you guys are like notwilling to wait like why do you
want to get married and they'relike they were like making fun
of him like out by the pool butbecause Conrad is the better man
he's in therapy he's trying toget better and He overhears
Belly crying in her room afterJeremiah leaves because he
knows, you know, Belly'sobviously upset.
Like every girl like wantstheir mom with them to do

(24:02):
wedding dress shopping to helpto be there for their wedding.
He hears her cry and you seehim be like, so he decides to
not fly back to Californiabecause that's where he is.
He's like in med school, basically going to be a doctor.
We love that for him.
And he ends up staying, makesBelly her favorite muffins for

(24:24):
her birthday and Jeremiah'salready gone back to work at his
like dad's company or somethingbecause his dad's like
lifeguarding's not going to paythe wedding bills blah blah blah
and belly's like oh youremembered it was my birthday
and he's like i always rememberand they hug and in that hug
that 20 second hug i was finallywell fed as a fan and you hear
the actor that plays conrad saywhat have i done so we're

(24:46):
finally gonna get our conradnear narrated episode and the
books did that too almost allthe books are from belly's
perspective but in book two youhad a couple chapters that was
jeremiah's perspective and thenin the third book you had
conrad's perspective so i'vebeen waiting for this for like
three seasons on the show and Ifeel like we've had to suffer
through these first like fourepisodes and barely gotten any

(25:09):
Conrad interactions and allthese side plots and I feel like
we're finally going to get agood episode so I had to get all
that off my chest because thesummer I turn Vulcan I mean the
summer I turn pretty is back soanyway I'm going to go ahead and
use that as a segue unless youhave anything to say about my
show

Speaker 01 (25:27):
I have two things to say about your show first a 20
second hug that's a really longhug

Speaker 03 (25:33):
I don't know if it was 20 seconds, but it was like
they're just, their chemistry, they are like connected.
It is their story.
Like he challenges her.
I was just joking.
He makes it better.
Oh, you were just beingsarcastic?
Yeah.
Well, I'm trying to be nicebecause I'm very passionate
about

Speaker 01 (25:49):
TV.
The second item is, is Jeremiaha bullfrog by chance?

Unknown (26:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (26:00):
Hey, everybody, guess what?
We've been watching Star Trek.
You can't tell.
You can't tell by how much StarTrek started the conversation
here.

Speaker 03 (26:09):
So in the summer, I turned Vulcan, excuse me, Star
Trek Strange New Worlds Season3.
I pretty much agreed with whatyou said in your solo episode.
I did not.
Once again, the premiere was abust for me.
It just was like we had that.
I wish they would just includethat at the end of Season 2, but
I guess they had to sizzle us.
It just felt very flat.
But one of the criticisms thatI had of it was that Patel,

Speaker 01 (26:35):
Patel, yeah.

Speaker 03 (26:36):
Yeah, it's not Patel.
It's Batel.
Why am I losing his...

Speaker 01 (26:41):
Captain Pike.

Speaker 03 (26:41):
Captain Pike.
I was about to say, the guyfrom the Britney Spears movie.
Captain Pike is in Crossroads,a great movie with Britney
Spears and Gamora, by the way.
Gamora's in that from Guardiansof the Galaxy.
Anyway, his boo, we thought shemight die, we thought she might
live, and it seemed like theyput just a tight little, cute

(27:02):
little bow in it and sewed itup, and I was like, that was too
easy.
Well, it's not too easy.
That's going to be a throughplot because they're clearly
having, she like rejected one ofthe treatments.
So they're going to have to tryto like do something else to
get this like Gorn, like out ofher or whatever.
And Gorn is like the bigmonsters or something that they
were fighting.
So I respect that from a plotperspective, but that's still

(27:23):
going to be like a through line.
Erica clearly had PTSD fromthat finale.
We're getting captured by theGorn.
I think that's going to be athrough line, but yeah, The
through lines are fine when Ihave my mess around episodes and
just fun.
And I felt like that episodestwo and even three in a way,

(27:44):
three is where we got moreinformation on Battelle, but
there was still fun stuff in it,really rebounded nicely.
And then, of course, the mostrecent episode we watched, four,
was hilarious.
Before I get into what I reallywant to talk about Star Trek,
what do you have to say?
I know you kind of alreadytalked about those first.

Speaker 01 (28:02):
I'm happy with the season so far.
Like I said last week, I'venever been a huge fan of the
second part of a two-partepisode, particularly when that
happens to be like part one wasthe finale of a season and part
two is the start of a newseason.
And they make you wait, likewhat, two years?
Yeah, because like...
It's just, I don't know.
I don't feel like I've everbeen fully satisfied with the

(28:24):
conclusion of the part two.
And I'm not talking just aboutStar Trek.
I'm talking like in general, Ijust feel like I've never,
they've never paid off thatcliffhanger.
And it's always just ended upbeing a cheap, like make sure
you come back next season kindof a ploy to get people to come
back, which I don't think wasever the case for this show that

(28:45):
they were already filming ortrying to film season two.
when season two aired and thenof course the strike shot stuff
down and all that happened sobut no but i think it's
rebounded the three episodesafter that have been exactly
what i want out of this show

Speaker 03 (28:59):
and you got q

Speaker 01 (29:01):
got q that was great that was awesome

Speaker 03 (29:03):
son that was we had a little okay all right all
right let's get into it good forchapel chapel comes back with
this man what's his name drcorby

Speaker 02 (29:15):
yeah

Speaker 03 (29:15):
can I just say that Dr.
Corby I think like he is acreepy teacher I think he
groomed her and played on hertalk about emotional
manipulation in another showlike she was grieving like the
loss of her mother or somethingor a sad experience I don't know
what it was and he used that toboo her up I just I don't under
that why that the wholerelation I know that they are

(29:36):
canon in the original series butjust the way they introduced it
and explain why suddenly shewent from being super into Spock
broke up with Spock to go dothis internship or fellowship
fine you know she's advancing inher career that's great but
like she basically emotionallyclosed off from relationships
and then shows up with this thisman with not telling anybody
about it not mentioning it toSpock and we're all just

(29:58):
supposed to sit here and be likeokay then we find out he was
basically like her teacher umhello can we say you know casual
grooming maybe I'm not into itI'm mad I

Speaker 01 (30:08):
mean I think you're kind of supposed to be mad about
it

Speaker 03 (30:11):
am I supposed to I felt like they want us to be
like chill with this character

Speaker 01 (30:15):
I don't think there's anything wrong with the
character.
I think your characterizationof grooming is going a bit far.
They're both people in their atleast late 20s, maybe even
early 30s.
She was still his

Speaker 03 (30:29):
student.
There was a power dynamic atplay.
He's

Speaker 01 (30:33):
the person running the fellowship, and she's
attending the fellowship ofadults.
I think it's a little bitdifferent than how you're
characterizing it, in myopinion.

Speaker 03 (30:42):
So you ship them?

Speaker 01 (30:44):
I didn't say that.

Speaker 03 (30:45):
But that's okay, though, because I've

Speaker 01 (30:46):
moved on.
I only ship the USS EnterpriseNCC-1701, ma'am.

Speaker 03 (30:54):
Okay, I ship like everybody.
But I guess that Spock hasbecome like the community
bicycle of Star Trek.
And you know what?
I'm down for it.
I said it so last season.
I said, well, these characterslook hot together.
So Spock and Leon, is that mystandard name right?

Unknown (31:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 03 (31:11):
She was teaching him how to dance last season.
And they've had some scenes.
And I remember remarking abouttheir chemistry.
Then they had another sceneafter, you know, chapel and the
whole, like, wedding.
Because we had, like, a fakewedding debacle because Q was
doing a mess around.
And I'm like, are they– am Ireading too much into this?
Are they heading at something?

(31:32):
Yes.
Can we say, so in the mostrecent episode, they kissed.
Yes.
And I'm like, oh,

Speaker 01 (31:41):
you had.
Can I say like the only I'veseen you have that reaction in
like, again, shows like One TreeHill, A Summer I Turned Pretty,
that kind of show.
You had that reaction to a StarTrek.

Speaker 03 (31:56):
I did.
I had to because it was like,oh, my gosh, I got this.
And I guess online the fandomis really split on it.
But I like it.
I'm down for it.
I think right now they are bothlike kind of in an emotional
state.
because she obviously was intoKirk.

Speaker 02 (32:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 03 (32:11):
He clearly has had his heart broken.
So I'm not, I don't, they'reobviously, we know, they're not
like an endgame situation.
But I think they're makingSpock like this for a purpose.
And I think something's goingto happen when this show ends,
why he's going to close himselfoff a little more to some
relationships.
It's very interesting, too, that eventually we know Spock's
going to be into Jim Kirk.

(32:31):
And that's like, Leon's intoKirk.
Like, that's like the tie.
Because I've suddenly, afterI...
paused, lingered too long on aStar Trek edit on TikTok.
Now I'm getting all kinds ofSpock, Kirk.

Speaker 01 (32:45):
You're not ignoring them.
You sent one to me.

Speaker 03 (32:47):
I did.
I sent you one with, she's gota way.
It was good.
It was a good edit.
It was Spock and Kirk, right?
Yeah.
What do you think of the two ofthem together?
I think they look goodtogether.
I'm for it.
I'm all for it.
Chapel's off with that

Speaker 01 (33:01):
stupid man.
I mean, it's ultimately doomed.

Speaker 03 (33:03):
Yeah, but so what?
I felt like while I liked Spockand Chappell, I honestly think
and I felt this in season onethat the actors have better.
Those two actors, Spock andLeon, have like better
chemistry.

Speaker 01 (33:16):
I do agree with you.
They look

Speaker 03 (33:18):
hot.

Speaker 01 (33:19):
I think the way they're going to explain it
storytelling wise is like bothof them are people who are like
kind of going through somerejection at the moment.
So I did have a note that youhad me write down about Star
Trek.
Male nurse onesie.

Speaker 03 (33:33):
Yeah, so So when Chapo wears the onesie, it
didn't look as weird to me.
The male nurse that they havein it, it looks like he's in a
baby's outfit.
It just doesn't look– it looksweird.
It looks odd.
So speaking of the medicalstaff, Dr.
– Mbenga.

(33:53):
Mbenga.
Mbenga.
Do we think we're going to seewhy his eventual exit would play
out for being in charge?
Because he just straight upadmitted that he killed that
clean on guy and didn't care.

Speaker 01 (34:03):
And that was season two.
Yeah.
I think that they have to startlike...
So we know that...
There's a fourth season and ashortened fifth season, and
that's going to be it.
And from what the showrunnerhas said, the last thing you're
going to see at the end of thisseries is Kirk's first day.
Can I

Speaker 03 (34:23):
please get McCoy?

Speaker 01 (34:25):
A couple things that have to happen.
By the time Kirk has his firstday, Mbenga is not the chief
medical officer.
Now, he is still on theEnterprise, or at least comes on
the Enterprise occasionallybecause he is in original series
episodes.
Mm-hmm.
McCoy is also not therenecessarily at the very
beginning of original series.
I think I, I have troublebelieving they won't get him in

(34:49):
there sometime, either in seasonfour or in season five.
I really have a lot of troublewith that.

Speaker 03 (34:54):
What's a particular actor.
Like if you think of any actorright now off the top of your
head, cause I have one, I haveone who I would pick for McCoy.

Speaker 01 (35:02):
I can't think of anybody for McCoy right now.
Top of my head.

Speaker 03 (35:04):
Okay.
Hear me out.
I'm going to say the actor'sname and you're going to be
like, who?
And then I'll tell you whatshow he's in.
Jake Johnson, Nick from NewGirl.
I think would make a fantasticMcCoy for the age range that
we'd be looking at.
Grumpy.
Still funny.
I think he could play like, because we don't want someone

(35:25):
too old and he's older.
He would be age appropriate.

Speaker 01 (35:28):
McCoy is a little bit older than Kirk.
I think Jake

Speaker 03 (35:31):
Johnson's probably a little bit older than Paul
Wesley.
I

Speaker 01 (35:34):
could maybe see it.
I don't know.
I think that's

Speaker 03 (35:37):
in my head.
It's working for me.

Speaker 01 (35:39):
I've never seen him do any acting acting.
If that makes any sense.

Speaker 03 (35:45):
We watched him in that movie, Let's Be Cops.

Speaker 01 (35:48):
Again, I've never seen him do any acting acting.
I've always seen him doingcomedy acting.
And I think to do this show, you'd need to be a little bit
more than just a comedy, ha-haactor.
He

Speaker 03 (35:58):
just had serious scenes.

Speaker 01 (36:00):
He also would have to work on a bit of an accent.

Speaker 03 (36:02):
My friends call me Gay Nick.
I don't

Speaker 01 (36:06):
hate it, but I also don't think that's going to
happen.
I don't think they're going tocast him, no.
Especially, you've got toremember, depending on how all
this shakes out, they're notgoing to spend a ton of time
getting a big actor who's onlygoing to do the role two
episodes and then show ends.
I wouldn't

Speaker 03 (36:23):
call him a big actor, would you?

Speaker 01 (36:24):
He's not going to come in for two episodes of the
end of a Star Trek show.

Speaker 03 (36:28):
You know what I wish they would have done, though?
I really wish they would havejust let Paul Wesley play Sam 2
with a fake mustache.
That would have been funny.
That

Speaker 01 (36:36):
would have been funny.

Speaker 03 (36:37):
Or gotten Ian Somerhalder, who obviously is
Stefan and Damon, to come onthere.
So the last episode was a...
Is that our first holodeck?

Speaker 01 (36:47):
That is canonically the first holodeck in Star Trek.

Speaker 03 (36:49):
Do you want to explain what the holodeck is
briefly?
Explain it in two sentences.

Speaker 01 (36:52):
I feel stupid explaining this to people.
Go watch Star Trek.
The holodeck is aholographic...
that you can walk into and itwill transport it.
It transforms the room intowherever you've done like
Sherlock Holmes stuff before andfake people like holograms show
up in it as people.
And it always turns into a messaround because they're supposed

(37:14):
to be safety protocols, butthey never work.

Speaker 03 (37:16):
We got a little bit more Scotty.
trying to fix it.
But we had Leon go in there, and she's basically been like a
detective.
So they basically...
I felt like it got very meta, like trying to do like a cheesy
version of Star Trek.
And they had...
Kirk played by Paul Wesley inthe episode and he was just

(37:36):
overkill with the broodingfaces.
And can I just say that PaulWesley has made Instagrams
before where he makes fun of IanSomerhalder's like sexy Damon
face.
And he was absolutely makingthat face where, and you've
seen, you know, I'm talkingabout Damon Ian Somerhalder, the
broody face.
Does that not look like, I feellike Paul was like straight up

(37:58):
like doing that face that hedoes when he makes fun of Ian,
you know, who played hisbrother.
on the tv show the vampirediaries i felt like he was doing
that when he was like servinglooks like stiff pussy if you
know you know vampire diariesgirlies

Speaker 01 (38:11):
i wish i didn't know

Speaker 03 (38:13):
you do you do because one time daniel was like
what does stuff fussy mean andi'm like

Speaker 01 (38:20):
i thought it was good yeah no the whole episode
was good this was my favoriteepisode of the season so far
it's up there in the top notjust strange new worlds episodes
but probably Star Trek episodesI just thought it was really
good I really enjoyed too thekind of meta commentary on Star
Trek itself because the thewhole episode kind of revolved
the holodeck the holodeckmystery revolved around a

(38:43):
canceled, a 60s sci-fi showbeing canceled.
And the actress that playsUhura got to give a speech about
why, you know, this wasimportant and why it needs to be
given a chance.
And it really felt very muchlike that's what it meant to
people in the 60s, what StarTrek meant to people in the 60s
and 70s and 80s and 90s whenpeople were watching it.
And so I thought that it wasreally well done.

(39:05):
It was funny.
It was entertaining.
It was a great episode.

Speaker 03 (39:07):
And it's a way, one of my questions, while I love
Paul Wesley and I like seeingKirk was how often are we going
to be able to realistically workKirk into these storylines
that's a way that you and I'msure he is going to show up as
Kirk real Kirk in the scenes butthat's a way that you can get
him in to come do like one ofthose mess around episodes I'm
going to say my main complaintabout Star Trek before we move

(39:27):
on what are we doing with thesewigs Una's wig looked just
terrible Like, can we just letRebecca Romijn wear her blonde
hair

Speaker 01 (39:37):
and be like, you know, got to make over or
something?
So you're talking specificallyabout the third episode.
It was not

Speaker 03 (39:42):
good at all.
But there was one episode, Ithink it was the third one,
where she had like an updo.
And it looked like, it lookedbad.
Even you were like, that is abad wig.
Why?
Why are we having such badwigs?

Speaker 01 (39:55):
I don't know.
It was not a good one.
Do

Speaker 03 (39:57):
you wear wigs?

Speaker 01 (39:58):
I really have been irritated by your...
In the same way I've ruinedmovies for you with ADR and a
couple of other things, youruined wigs for me because you
told me the trick to figuringout if it's a wig or not.
And I don't like

Speaker 03 (40:11):
it.
And there are some really goodwigs and there are some bad
wigs.
I don't know what's going tohappen in the next episode.
I'm really excited for someSpock- Dr.
Corby shows back up.
Yeah.
I really want some more Spocksmooching.
I don't know why people areso...
There's people that are reallyinto it, and then there's other
people that are really about it,but I'm down for it.

(40:34):
I think it's all going to servea purpose.
I think because we're seeing amore emotionally open Spock,
than what we've seen him inother things I think I think the
end of this show something isgoing to happen I I predict that
sadly Leon might be the onethat dies maybe she makes a
sacrifice maybe that impacts himI don't know whatever it is I

(40:54):
hope she doesn't I hope she goeson and has a thriving career
I've just never heard of herbefore on the original series
but I think something's going togo down that's going to impact
Spock a little bit and I think Ithink I don't think this is
just being done because EthanPeck is hot the guy that plays
him and we want to show himkissing people but guess what
guys Star Trek fans to you andto all of you know maybe one of

(41:14):
you out there that like StarTrek like Daniel the way to get
me to watch is to put in romance

Speaker 01 (41:22):
well there you have it folks speaking of romance
we've also been watching andjust like that season three

Speaker 03 (41:30):
Season three.
And the final season, TheNational Nightmare, is over.
But you know what, guys?

Speaker 01 (41:35):
I've never seen a fan base complain more about a
show that they complain aboutevery week.

Speaker 03 (41:41):
Listen, did we criticize every episode?
Did we absolutely hate it, whatthey've done with the
characters?
Yes.
But were we going to tune inand still continue to tune in?
Also, yes.
I'm a little irritated andirked.
Now, they're saying that theyplanned for this to be the last
while other people are saying itwas canceled.
I think they got canceled.
What do you think?

Speaker 01 (41:59):
It sure seems like they got canceled.

Speaker 03 (42:01):
Anyway, you were pretty good about your comments
in the last one.
Thank you.
Let's just say that...
What do we got?
Two episodes left this season?
Two episodes to go.
I don't know why we had towaste so many on Aiden.
Aiden, talk about...
I don't...
Everyone's like character...
No, Aiden was always a walkingred flag.
They just really drove thathome.
And it's like he didn't grow upat all.

(42:22):
Super glad that Aiden was gone.
When Aiden's not in an episode,I enjoy the show so much more.
Like, the show where the oneepisode that he wasn't in was
great, and then he came back.
As you said on the podcast,Carrie has far more chemistry
with the basement dweller, thewriter Duncan.
I

Speaker 01 (42:39):
feel like, though, like, yes, I agree.
Immediate.

Speaker 03 (42:44):
I don't think they're in-game.

Speaker 01 (42:45):
I'm not entirely convinced we see him again.
Yeah, I agree.
I think they wrapped that storyup this last episode.
I think

Speaker 03 (42:50):
so, too, and I'm fine with it.
Carrie was finally seen by aman for not who she, like...
for her talents as a writerlike he didn't really get he did
not in my opinion really eventry to flirt with her until well
they had well established theirkind of working relationship
and he knew that you know Aidenwas out of the picture and it

(43:12):
was very like a like she kind oflike led the she was in the
driver's seat of that like Idon't think he would have made a
move if she hadn't but yeahthey did hook up finally and it
was hot much better than mehaving to watch Aiden lick his
hand in a car in a field inVirginia like that was an
actually like hot scene scenebut then right after you know
they had some fun they were backto talking about like their

(43:33):
books that they're writing and Ithought it was really funny
that he was like so you're likeimportant or like you're Carrie
Bradshaw because he didn'treally get like her you know
she's written a bunch of booksshe used to have a column that
she's I'm not gonna say she'sfamous but she's like well known
within like those ranks

Speaker 01 (43:49):
certainly in New York City and certainly in
publishing you know thepublishing scene in New York
City people know who she is yeah

Speaker 03 (43:55):
and I think like Carrie said at one point one of
the reasons why she was eveneven afraid to hook up with them
because it was the first timeshe really felt like seeing I
don't think Carrie's gonna endup with anybody I think that her
she's gonna continue to focuson her true love her passion of
writing and I think that shefinally is almost to a place
where she is healed we didn'treally get to see her grieve

(44:17):
over the loss of big very muchsay what she won about that was
like the love of her life andthen Aiden stepped back in and I
think if good writers wouldhave written that as she decided
to go with Aiden because it wasa Mm-hmm.
the moment she and Aiden brokeup and they played that Taylor

(44:55):
Swift song Chef's Kiss the scenesuddenly my girl was dressing
hot again we have the nicethey're not like the old school
Carrie curls but we have herhair nicely done again she's
wearing really pretty outfitsagain and there's even one scene
where she was going to go tothat party with Duncan and you
think you see she's maybethinking about wearing like a
more traditional suit shechanges her mind and puts on you

(45:17):
know an outfit that's Carriethat's her personality and I
felt like that was the clothingthat is one thing that has
always been intentional withthis show do you think she ends
up with somebody I

Speaker 01 (45:27):
don't think so and I also don't think like at this
point with two episodes leftthere's not a lot of time to
even it would have to besomebody new right because like
none of us want it to be Aidenyou know I'm holding out for
burger but I don't think it'sgonna happen and

Speaker 03 (45:42):
I

Speaker 01 (45:46):
really honestly if they like just suddenly like
bring Duncan back in out of theout of the E I thought they had
a really nice kind of they cameto an agreement with each other
they understood each other but Ithink he left it and they left
it as like this is aprofessional thing only maybe
not in the future perhaps but Ifeel like in this show

(46:09):
specifically unless they'regoing to do like a huge time
jump right there at the end Idon't think it would be
appropriate to do that

Speaker 03 (46:16):
I would like to see Carrie on a flight to London but

Speaker 01 (46:20):
going to Fraser us

Speaker 03 (46:22):
no But we know Samantha lives there.
Texting Samantha to meet up fordrinks or something at the end.
I think that we're seeing avery mature version of Carrie.
Harry and Charlotte, I thinkthey're going to be fine.
I don't think there's much totell there.
Seema and Trey from the OC, hedoesn't wear deodorant.

(46:43):
He likes crystals.
I don't really know or careabout that.
Lisa, Charlotte's friend, Iforget that they're on the show,
and then when her scenes withher family is on the show, I
feel like I'm watching adifferent show.
So that leaves us with Miranda.
I think Miranda having anhonest conversation with Joy,
she's going to be in, I guess, astable relationship where they

(47:04):
can watch NPR and– haveintelligent conversations.
I mean, maybe Miranda's goingto be a grandma.
We don't know because I guesswe did see Steve in the last
episode.

Speaker 01 (47:12):
And Ratatouille boy.

Speaker 03 (47:13):
And Ratatouille boy, which you are dying to get this
out.

Speaker 01 (47:16):
I called this out.
Probably if you go back to whenwe talked about season two or
season one.

Speaker 03 (47:21):
Did we talk about season

Speaker 01 (47:22):
one?
He wasn't in season two.
I don't know.

Speaker 03 (47:24):
He was in season one, but I don't know if we
talked about that on the pod.
I can't remember.

Speaker 01 (47:28):
Okay, this kid looks exactly like the guy, the
redhead from Ratatouille.
And then in this episode, theydrop that he wants to go to
culinary school.
And we had to pause theepisode.

Speaker 03 (47:38):
They laugh.
The fans manifested this.
I don't

Speaker 01 (47:44):
know.
It's...
Whatever.

Speaker 03 (47:46):
I'm a little irritated with his baby mama
drama.
I was hoping...
I think this would have been agood opportunity, which, again,
the writing on the show is bad.
But that didn't mean we wantedit canceled.
I feel like it would have beenbetter if they had made his baby
mama a Miranda-type character.
I

Speaker 02 (48:02):
agree.

Speaker 03 (48:03):
Instead, they make it a hair...
Is this what they think Gen Zis?
They made her a hairstylistthat's farting in her client's
face.
She's

Speaker 01 (48:10):
not even a hairstylist.
She's just the shampoo

Speaker 03 (48:12):
girl.
What are we doing here?
I don't know.
I'm sure they'll find a way towrap it up in a bow, but yeah,
you know what, Daniel, justbecause we complain and by we, I
mean, well, you complain too,but especially me, I complained
a lot.

Speaker 01 (48:27):
I complained too, but I'm fine that it got
canceled.

Speaker 03 (48:30):
Well, I'm not fine.
I wouldn't, I wanted morebecause I just love these
characters so much.

Speaker 01 (48:36):
Well, how about a bunch of characters you don't
care for at all?

Speaker 03 (48:40):
Oh,

Speaker 01 (48:41):
bachelor in paradise.

Speaker 03 (48:42):
Bachelor in Paradise.
I felt like you did a prettygood job covering that.
Okay, we can move on then.
Because

Speaker 01 (48:49):
nothing happened in the last episode.

Speaker 03 (48:52):
Well, they brought in one more girl, Alicia, I want
to say.
Dale just continues to getawful.
Can we just say that all of theyoung men, except for Jonathan,
who's okay, but he must be likedoing something on the scenes
because he keeps getting friendzoned.
See, Andrew is not from Jen'sseason.
And is there any other man notfrom her season?

(49:16):
Oh, Dale, because he's bad.
He's from Claire's season.
But they're mostly all fromJen's season.
I am so validated that I didnot.
I love Jen, but I rememberlooking at the cast thinking her
men were terrible.
I'm so validated that I didn'twaste my time watching her
season because these men arehorrible.
The show Savings Grace is thegoldens.
They're the ones that make itfun.

(49:36):
Like April was like, she's nowkissed with like three of the
young guys.

Speaker 01 (49:40):
Yeah.
And had a body shot.
One of them did a body shot ofher.
I

Speaker 03 (49:43):
think like two of them did.

Speaker 01 (49:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 03 (49:45):
A body shot and then like a make out.
Like Dale kissed her.
That boy.

Speaker 01 (49:50):
She's living it up.

Speaker 03 (49:51):
I don't remember what his name was.
The one that looks like JasonPriestley.
And then he's like, who's JasonPriestley?
Sean.
I think that's his name.
We've lost Jill.
Now Jill sent herself homebecause she realized these men
ain't it.
So that's our one entertainingfactor.
I think what the problem iswith the young cast is that they
are so aware of the cameras.
And so aware about.
And I think this is verysimilar to.

(50:13):
And I know some of these areprobably millennials too.
that are on it but I've seenthis with Gen Z they're so aware
about like how they come offlike they're so afraid to be
cringe it's ruining the showthey're like they're so aware
about like appearances but guesswhat the men your appearances
aren't looking good at all youguys look terrible all these
gorgeous women crying over theseterribly ugly men make it makes
me sick

Speaker 01 (50:33):
I do know I will say I know you had told me at one
point you thought maybe theywere like trying to move
position for Dale to be thebachelor and I feel like no they
killed that he's the edit hegot on this show he has no No
chance.

Speaker 03 (50:45):
He deaded it.
I deaded it.
Like, what does that

Speaker 01 (50:48):
even mean?
I did fail to bring that up onmy episode last week.
He said it like 50 times.
I don't know.

Speaker 03 (50:51):
He's so toxic.
I really hope that he and Katare not together.
The only couple that I see, andthis includes the Goldens as
well, they're fun andentertaining, but so far I'm not
seeing a major connectionbetween the Goldens.
The only couple I think isgoing to be Jess and Spencer, so
apparently there's money atstake.
They're going to change theformat.
I miss the crusty beach.
I miss the cheesy, they do thesong, but not in the right way.

(51:13):
They're trying to be somethingthey're not and they're failing
miserably.
And I just watched.
Can we just jump in?
Jump in.
Do it.
Transition.
Anything else you want to sayabout Bastion Paradise?

Speaker 00 (51:23):
No, I can't wait for it to be over.

Speaker 03 (51:25):
Okay.
I watched Perfect Match onNetflix.
Now, I've never seen the otherprevious two seasons of Perfect
Match.
This is season three.
I tuned in because they hadClayton, who was one of my least
favorite bachelors on, but thenRachel, who was on Clayton's
season and was also the bachelorherself.
And they're bringing in peoplethat aren't just from Netflix
shows.
So I was like, I want to watchbecause I know these two are

(51:46):
going to be on together.
They used to date.
I want to see what happens.
And I sped through those first,I think we got the first six
episodes of Perfect Match, zoomed through it.
that is what Bachelor inParadise is trying to be but
failing miserably at like theyjust should have stuck with
their old format and not changedit up because Perfect Match is

(52:07):
good.
Even you, you didn't watch allof it with me.
You sat down and watched acouple episodes again while you
were eating, and you were like, this is more entertaining.
Do you stand by that?

Speaker 01 (52:16):
Yeah, I do.
As entertaining as these typesof shows can possibly

Speaker 03 (52:22):
be.
We will get the back half ofthat season this Friday, and
then we get the finale, I think,on the 15th.
So...
Perfect Match.
Because you're like, what is itabout?
I actually decided to...

Speaker 01 (52:37):
Finding your Perfect Match.

Speaker 03 (52:39):
Perfect Match is a Netflix reality dating show
where former contestants fromvarious Netflix series like Love
is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, and The Circle are brought
together to find love.
And I think they also havepeople from Love Island UK on it
this season as well.
Siesta Key, whatever that is.
Somebody was from that.
And then, of course, they'vebeen bringing in Bachelor
people.
The show centers aroundcontestants pairing up,

(53:01):
competing in compatibilitychallenges...
and strategically forming newconnections couples who win
challenges get dates and thepower to bring in new singles
potentially disrupting existingpairings they call that the
boardroom the goal is to findthe perfect match and anyone
left out without a match at theend of the night is eliminated
so the goal become the strongestcouple in the villa aka the

(53:23):
perfect match one the wholecompatibility like games and
stuff they do way better thanBachelor in Paradise some of the
games they're playing actuallyreminds me of like the really
cheesy old school games thatthey used to do in the early
seasons of MTV's The Challengeso I like that it's just the
whole format's better I don'tit's just way more entertaining

(53:43):
Honestly, Nick Lachey is abetter host than Jesse.
I can't believe I'm saying thatbecause I don't like Nick
Lachey very much, even though Ido like 98 Degrees.
He kind of gets on my nerves.
But he's just kind of there.
He just, like, pops in and out.
The whole aspect of, like, theboardroom where, like, if you
win the challenge, you're thecouple that wins the challenge
for the day.
You get to go in.
And then you can– sometimesit's going to be a set of girls,

(54:04):
sometimes a set of boys.
And I think on the last episodeit was girls and boys.
And you can bring people in andyou can pick, like, okay, well,
I see, you know– Madison is ina relationship with so-and-so.
We're going to make her go on adate with this person.
And then if you decide, which Ithink was the first episode
with the boardroom, the girl'sreviewing the guy.

(54:26):
She's like, well, I want to goon a date with this guy.
See you later, to the guy thatshe won with.
And she's like, I want to go ona date with Freddie.
So that aspect adds a fun layerto it.
The games are fun.
The format's fun.
It's just better.
The reason why I tuned in,Clayton and Rachel.
Clayton, I never want to seeyou on my TV again.
You are terrible.

(54:46):
You are, he is using, you knowwhat he's doing?
He's using like therapy speak, but in like a toxic way.
trying to come off that he'sbeen evolved and become better
but it's coming off as just verytoxic and terrible and he did
pick rachel to be his perfectmatch and she agreed to it why
rachel why rachel show it to merachel why and then the next day

(55:10):
not even like 24 hours laterhe's like my intuition is
telling me that that we're notgoing to work out again.
And I'm like, are you serious?
So that is the third time thatRachel has let this man like
embarrass her on national TV.
And I hope she never does itagain.
I was honestly like, you knowwhat?
Cause I always thought thatRachel was the only one that
really liked him.
And I'm like, you know what?
Maybe, maybe he's evolved.

(55:32):
He's changed and they could bea thing.
No.

Unknown (55:34):
Um,

Speaker 03 (55:34):
Rachel went on a date with Freddie, the only man.
What is wrong with men?
I hate all the men from allthese shows.
These men are just– they're notas bad as Bachelor in Paradise,
but they still suck.
So Rachel went on a date with, like, the only one I like,
Freddie.
I think he's from, like, LoveIsland or Love is Blind UK.
One of the things.
I don't know.
Maybe they're not– I don't knowwhich show.
I can't keep up with it.
But he's British, and he's,like, the only, like, guy that

(55:56):
seems to be remotely nice on theshow.
And they come back, and I feltlike Clayton– saw that they had
a thing and just didn't like itand decided to kind of go over
to Rachel, put it in her head.
Then she told Freddie, she wasstill undecided and confused.
And that's why Freddie matchedwith Madison, who I don't care
for very much, but whatever.

(56:16):
And then I think like, obviously to stay on the show,
like Clayton and Rachel matchedtogether, but it was super
annoying, super irritating.
So then he and Wynn's, with umthey had two different a male
and a female winner the next dayright so instead of going on a
date with Rachel he went on adate with Sandy who won and I

(56:37):
think that Clayton thought hewas going to get to pull in some
ladies to choose for himselfguess what Clayton it was just
men so Clayton's gone he's offthe show for now one of the most
confusing things about it isthat two of the people that are
coupled up which are ad andollie we already know that they
are engaged and have a baby onthe way like netflix announced

(56:58):
their engagement at the love isblind reunion and so we already
know that they're going to endup together but we know that
apparently they don't winperfect match and they're saying
right now that The rumors arethat they had to go back in and
kind of give Ollie a betteredit.
And I'm like, if this isOllie's good edit, I hate to see
what his bad edit is becausehe's not coming off good either.

(57:19):
That being said, had to get theClayton Rachel stuff off my
chest because they're why Iwatched.
This show is a thousand timesbetter.
And I always like Love isBlind.
You have watched some of Loveis Blind.
And you said that was betterthan The Bachelor.
Oh,

Speaker 01 (57:33):
yeah.
Yes.
100%.
They just know how to

Speaker 03 (57:35):
do it better.
I don't know.
Get it together, ABC.
Yeah.
Do you have anything to say foryour, you know, 10 minutes
watching Perfect Match?

Speaker 01 (57:43):
No.

Speaker 03 (57:44):
None at all?

Speaker 01 (57:45):
None at all.

Speaker 03 (57:46):
You asked me while we were watching, you go, why
are some of them British?
And I was like, because that'swhere they're from.

Speaker 01 (57:53):
Well, and that was the answer.
We answered it just here.
You said some of the LoveIsland UK people.
True, true.
Sorry about my disparagingremarks about Love Island last
week, everybody, by the way.
Although it still doesn't meanI'm going to watch it because
I'm still not going to downloadPeacock.
It might have been Love is

Speaker 03 (58:08):
Blind UK.
I can't remember if they're on.
I don't know.
There's a lot of reality showsout there.

Speaker 01 (58:14):
Maybe too many.

Speaker 03 (58:16):
But yet I have no word on when Special Forces is
returning.

Speaker 01 (58:19):
This is a travesty that must be rectified
immediately.
Okay, well, I think that isthat for the episode.
What do we got coming up nextweek?

Speaker 03 (58:28):
Well, we have another Netflix show that I have
finished, The Hunting Wives, recommended to me by one Daniel.
Right over here, Daniel's like, hey, I heard this show's crazy
and really trashy, and I waslike, say no more.
And I thought it was going tobe about, like, women whose
husbands hunt.
Couldn't be more wrong.
There is way too much for me tosay because we've already

(58:49):
talked so long.
So...
Y'all, this is your suggestion,warning.
Go watch The Hunting Wivesright now so you'll be ready to
hear my commentary for nextweek.

Speaker 01 (59:03):
I do have one more note.
I'm kind of struggling toremember exactly why I noted
this down.
I remember making the note andI remember saying, oh, I'll
write this in a way I won'tpossibly forget what it is.
Do you know what I'm sayingwhen I'm referring to the Dr.
Doom discourse?

Speaker 03 (59:19):
Yes.

Speaker 01 (59:20):
Oh, so you remember.
Okay, I see how it is.
Enlighten me.

Speaker 03 (59:23):
Okay, so we had finished a run a few weeks ago,
and we were talking about theactor who was in, I think he was
in Charmed, and he also playedDr.
Doom.
Sure.
I don't know, like the 2005.
Yeah,

Speaker 01 (59:40):
the Chris Evans ones.
Fantastic

Speaker 03 (59:41):
Four, with just like Jessica Alba and people, like
those movies.
And I said, did you see the guythat played uh dr doom in the
fantastic four movies i was likedid you see that he died and
you were like you paused and youwere looking at me like he
didn't play and i was like ohwell maybe he played another
character in the movie and i waslike did he play like the

(01:00:02):
silver surfer because i don'tremember those movies very much
i've tried to block them out ofmy brain as most people have i
don't remember them being badbut i don't i don't remember
much of them and then you'relike no like basically daniel
looks at me like no idiot that'snot what he said but you gave
me a look you're like he playeddr doom i'm like that's what i
said and then we proceeded tohave a chat Like, her sister was

(01:00:22):
a witch!

Speaker 01 (01:00:23):
And we were both talking about the same thing,
though.

Speaker 03 (01:00:25):
In the middle of the parking lot at the gym, by the
way, outside of her car.
And I was like, that's what Isaid! Dr.
Doom! And so, things got alittle heated.
And that's probably what youmean by the Dr.
Doom discourse.
Rest in peace to that guy.
I think he was on another show.
Was he on a show about, like...

(01:00:46):
called like Vegas or something?
I don't remember.
I

Speaker 01 (01:00:49):
don't know.
I only remember him being that.

Speaker 03 (01:00:51):
Anyway, but apparently you did it at first
and I was right and you werewrong about Doctor

Speaker 01 (01:00:56):
Who.
My brain takes time to catch upsometimes.
And I'm like, what was he,another character in

Speaker 03 (01:00:59):
the movie?
I knew he was in the movie andthen you were basically like,
no, he was Doctor Who.
And I'm like, that's what Isaid.

Speaker 01 (01:01:03):
You occasionally talk a million miles a minute.
You're like a machine gun.

Speaker 03 (01:01:07):
I'm an Aries.

Speaker 01 (01:01:09):
All right, everybody.
Well, we appreciate you tuningin and we will talk to you next
time.
