SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Wednesday,
Wednesday, Wednesday.
I was
SPEAKER_01 (00:04):
going to start off
singing.
That boy is corrupt.
Yes, I'm talking about yourbaby.
SPEAKER_00 (00:27):
Hey everybody and
welcome to We Watch TV.
It is the podcast about the TVthat we watch.
I am Daniel.
She is Hope.
This is episode 116.
Yes, it is Wednesday.
It is Wednesday.
Yes, we are talking aboutWednesday.
And we
SPEAKER_01 (00:38):
totally did this on
purpose.
SPEAKER_00 (00:39):
Yeah, right.
We also posted on Wednesday lastweek.
We're now just a day behind.
We'll do that for a couplemonths and then we'll get a day
behind and it'll be on Thursday.
And then we'll just keep doingthat and eventually we'll roll
back around to posting onTuesday
SPEAKER_01 (00:53):
again.
Dude, you should have been like,we planned this to be on
Wednesday because we were like,We're talking about Wednesday.
SPEAKER_00 (00:58):
I don't want to lie
to our faithful listeners.
SPEAKER_01 (01:02):
Okay.
Well, speaking about days of theweek, you were like, what does
FNL mean in my show notes?
Friday Night Lights, also knownas high school football, also
known as the greatest TV show ofall time.
I'm actually, oh my gosh, I'mactually wearing, also planned,
a Friday Night's t-shirt.
Read my shirt.
SPEAKER_00 (01:23):
Clear eyes, full
hearts, can't lose.
SPEAKER_01 (01:26):
From Coach Eric
Taylor.
Do you know they're makinganother Friday Night Lights?
They're doing a reboot.
Great.
But Riggins, Connie Britton, whoplayed Tammy Taylor, and Eric
Taylor, the three of them saythey're not going to be in it,
so I don't know what it's goingto be about.
Texas forever.
SPEAKER_00 (01:44):
There was a point in
there somewhere.
SPEAKER_01 (01:46):
There was a point.
We went to our first high schoolfootball game in more than a
decade.
Probably more like 20 years.
Over 20 years, yeah.
It's been a long time.
We went to see our nephews marchin the marching band.
They now go to my high school.
So we went to a game.
(02:07):
I have not been to a game sinceI was in high school.
I think I was briefly at a gamemy freshman year.
freshman year of college becauselike you were there with us you
barely remember this remember wedropped one of my friends off
because she had to crown theoutgoing homecoming queen so we
like literally dropped her offpulled up stayed for like five
minutes and left so i don't idon't count that as like a game
experience because i didn'twatch anything and i got to go
(02:31):
see the track that i spent manymany years at and practice meets
you ran on that track beforeyeah that's good times um so we
were mostly there for the bandsand they did a great job and to
show my my continued supports ofmy former high school and our
nephews I dusted off an oldlittle number my senior class
(02:53):
t-shirts it's like this red andwhite tie-dye t-shirt dusted off
that little number white and youknow I washed it of course and
just pull it out of an old boxof clothes to wear for the game
and I was trying to decide likewhat type of old shirts I wanted
to wear and I the one that Imostly wanted no idea where it
is it's one of my old clothescountry shirts but I'm going
(03:15):
through some of my shirts and Ifind one that I think is going
to work and it's like from Idon't think you guys were at
this meet but it was the St.
Joseph's Invitational so it hadfor track and it had PHS on it
the track shoe it had like theschool colors the red and white
it was super cute and I was likewell this should work so then I
(03:36):
flip it over to the back sidethe back of the t-shirt says
since you're behind how is mineand I don't think I should be
wearing that shirt at this agenor do I think I should have
been wearing that shirt probablywhen I was 17 with that type of
writing on it are you glad Ididn't choose to wear that shirt
for the evening
SPEAKER_00 (03:56):
yeah it's such
mockery honestly like I don't
it's just not the
SPEAKER_01 (04:00):
and it's like look
at my butt yeah besides the
mocking
SPEAKER_00 (04:03):
it's also making fun
of people for being behind you
in a run
SPEAKER_01 (04:06):
they were like sold
like at the meet like they sold
them like
SPEAKER_00 (04:10):
we did not make this
like you said I wasn't at that
meet but I remember being trackmeets and cross country meets in
high school where t-shirts withlike those kind of things were
on the backs
SPEAKER_01 (04:21):
why was this allowed
it was the
SPEAKER_00 (04:24):
90s it was the early
2000s it was a different time
SPEAKER_01 (04:27):
the other shirt that
I found that I opted not to go
with because I wanted to wearmore of a red collar now I did
know this one it was one of mytrack shirts also for my senior
year and the back of it hadEminem lyrics on it that was my
idea as I was track captain butI'm like why did the adults
approve this they're not likebad Eminem lyrics you know that
you better lose yourself in themoment you own it but we put you
(04:49):
better lose yourself in therunning so I was like I can't
have a shirt that talks about mybutt or Eminem lyrics so
SPEAKER_00 (04:56):
we're going with the
senior class shirt that's just
bad
SPEAKER_01 (04:59):
do you have any
vintage shirts from your high
school era that you would everbust out
SPEAKER_00 (05:04):
I would not be able
to fit in any of my shirts from
SPEAKER_01 (05:06):
high school got it
SPEAKER_00 (05:08):
I was yes I was as
tall as I am now but I was and
you met me back then thelankiest like skinny runner guy
you can imagine you
SPEAKER_01 (05:18):
weren't like this
super like frail runner man
though you were skinny but youweren't like like some of the
like real like flimsy you didn'tlook like a piece of paper you
just look like a normal skinny I
SPEAKER_00 (05:30):
still couldn't fit
any of those t-shirts I
guarantee it
SPEAKER_01 (05:34):
anyway I had to show
the boys I was like this shirt's
like from when I was in highschool it's vintage
SPEAKER_00 (05:38):
older than they were
SPEAKER_01 (05:40):
but it was fun
watching high school football it
was more fun watching the bandthat's why we were there But
like, obviously we're going towatch a little bit of the game.
And I forgot that in high schoolfootball, you play, you can play
both defense and offense.
And I was like, these same kidshave been on the field the
entire time.
You're like, Oh, that's becausethey do that in high school.
Like I kept hearing the samename for my school and the same
(06:00):
name for the opponent.
And I'm like, are they gettingany rest?
SPEAKER_00 (06:04):
I know.
And I mean, there's nothingpreventing them from, there's no
rule.
You can't do that in college orpros either.
It's just, you don't see it asmuch as in high school.
SPEAKER_01 (06:13):
I literally thought
it was a rule.
I didn't.
And then didn't you point out tome the Heisman winner or
something from last
SPEAKER_00 (06:19):
year?
I think the Heisman winner fromlast year from Colorado, he
played both sides.
All right.
SPEAKER_01 (06:24):
I did not know that.
SPEAKER_00 (06:25):
Speaking of college
ball.
SPEAKER_01 (06:26):
No, we're not
talking about college ball.
SPEAKER_00 (06:28):
Okay.
Speaking of professional ball.
The NFL started.
Okay.
SPEAKER_01 (06:33):
And we both have
very differing views.
I am all about the kickersbecause give Boswell a raise for
the Pittsburgh Steelers becausemy man's made like what 60 his
career high they said it couldhave been like 65 yards and that
kind of sealed the deal for theSteelers the Steelers decided
(06:55):
just not make it a complete andtotal you know bust of a
football weekend for me and theycame through the same cannot be
said for the Cleveland Browns Ithink the Browns minus your
kicker look pretty good though Ithink Flacco I think it's weird
when I see him in a Brownsjersey But I think it really was
(07:17):
just they browned it up.
That's just what the
SPEAKER_00 (07:20):
Browns do.
Yeah, you're right.
They didn't look as bad as maybeyou would think, but they lost
in a Cleveland Browns way.
Yeah, by an extra point beingmissed.
SPEAKER_01 (07:30):
So are you– you know
what I'm for, Daniel?
Whatever's convenient to me.
I know.
And in my case, the kickinghelped.
I know that.
What do you propose we do then?
No kicking.
SPEAKER_00 (07:41):
No kicking.
Get rid of it.
No extra points.
No, no, no.
No, no, no.
You can go for an extra point.
An extra point now becomes aregular offensive play from the
one-yard line, and a two-pointconversion is the same as it is
now, which is like at the five.
So no field goals.
No field goals.
SPEAKER_01 (07:56):
So do you just go
for it on fourth every time?
SPEAKER_00 (07:58):
No punting.
So you just go for it.
So everybody thinks
SPEAKER_01 (08:01):
football's boring
and
SPEAKER_00 (08:02):
loves scoring.
Yeah, and if you don't get it,if you don't get it on fourth
down, the other team gets theball where it's at, just like if
you go for it on fourth downnow.
I
SPEAKER_01 (08:08):
feel like the
Steelers would have lost so many
games without
SPEAKER_00 (08:11):
kicking.
And then kickoffs are easy.
You just put the ball at 25
SPEAKER_01 (08:14):
do you remember I've
got because it is a certain week
coming up I don't think it'sgoing to go well for my team but
I have to bring this up do youremember when a certain school
in Pittsburgh their kicker'slast name was like Blewett
SPEAKER_00 (08:27):
oh yeah I thought we
weren't talking about college
SPEAKER_01 (08:29):
I had to bring that
up because it was relevant to
the conversation no we're nottalking about college because
nothing happened out of theordinary but the NFL's back I
don't know what else to sayabout it other than you were
influenced to go buy pizza likeDaniel gets like we have like
split screen guys so we have theBrowns game up we have the
(08:50):
Steelers game up and we saw like50 commercials for Little
Caesars in the game we're noteven at halftime and Daniel's
like I've got to go get pizzaright now and so he left and
went and brought home a lunchspecial you got yourself two
lunch specials
SPEAKER_00 (09:04):
well I knew you were
going to want some I
SPEAKER_01 (09:06):
just wanted a bite
SPEAKER_00 (09:07):
but I didn't want to
share any of mine so I got two
so I had one complete lunchspecial for me and one that we
could both pick off of if you'renot familiar with the Little
Caesars lunch special it's justlike four slices of their deep
dish with them crispy edges it'sweird for me that you
SPEAKER_01 (09:24):
like that because
you're typically like anti deep
dish
SPEAKER_00 (09:27):
yeah I am but I
think that's Detroit that's
Detroit style deep dish notChicago style
SPEAKER_01 (09:33):
pizza pizza
SPEAKER_00 (09:35):
listen okay do not
besmirch the good name of Little
Caesars I'm here to say rightRight now, of all the mid-range
pizza places, your Domino's,your Pizza Hut's, maybe even
your Papa John's, I like LittleCaesar's best.
(09:56):
And you know why?
SPEAKER_01 (09:57):
Consistent.
SPEAKER_00 (09:58):
It's consistent.
It's cheap.
I know exactly what I'm getting, and it is that every single time
I get it.
I can spend$20 more to go toPapa John's or Pizza Hut, and
I'm flipping a coin because itmight be good, but it might be
the best.
The worst pizza you've ever hadin your entire life.
You may be swimming in a pool ofsauce, but at Little Caesars, I
(10:21):
go in and I put down$5.99 for ahot and ready, and you know what
I get?
The same hot and ready everysingle time.
So come at me.
SPEAKER_01 (10:31):
We didn't eat at
Papa John's for almost a year
because our last twoexperiences, our pizza was not
cooked all the way through.
It was literally dough in thecenter.
SPEAKER_00 (10:40):
Correct.
SPEAKER_01 (10:41):
So I will say that
you are correct on that.
SPEAKER_00 (10:43):
And Pizza Hut's just
trash, period.
So is Domino's.
SPEAKER_01 (10:48):
All right.
SPEAKER_00 (10:48):
Now, I'm not here to
have a conversation about other
non-fat, like, I'm talking aboutthis class of pizza place.
There are better pizzas thanLittle Caesars.
I'm not crazy.
You know what my
SPEAKER_01 (10:58):
favorite pizza is?
It's a local place, and it's aplace that I'm not friends with
at the moment, but AvalanchePizza.
SPEAKER_00 (11:06):
Oh, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah.
Avalanche is great.
SPEAKER_01 (11:08):
I really have
nothing against Athens, people,
so it's fine.
That's the best pizza, though.
But you're not talking aboutlocal shops.
SPEAKER_00 (11:15):
Yeah, I'm not
talking about local shops.
I'm not talking about higher endplaces or whatever.
I'm talking about your averagenationwide pizza chain.
Little Caesars is the best.
I don't care.
You will never convince meotherwise.
I
SPEAKER_01 (11:28):
think they're like
the official pizza of the NFL.
SPEAKER_00 (11:30):
They are, that too.
SPEAKER_01 (11:31):
Anyway, anything
else to say about the NFL?
SPEAKER_00 (11:35):
No.
Thank you for reminding me thatLittle Caesars has a lunch
special and I can go get somedelicious, cheap and affordable
pizza.
SPEAKER_01 (11:42):
We complain about
commercials but one could say
they worked in this instance.
SPEAKER_00 (11:46):
I suppose.
SPEAKER_01 (11:46):
All right, so we
have some announcements before
we get into show discussion.
At the time of this recording,Only Murders in the Building
Season 5 has dropped the firstthree episodes.
I didn't know we were gettingthe first three episodes.
So, yeah, we'll have ourthoughts on that probably in
our...
I don't know if we might be backnext week.
We might not.
SPEAKER_00 (12:06):
Could be Tuesday.
Could be Wednesday.
Could be Thursday.
You don't know.
We're keeping you guessing.
SPEAKER_01 (12:12):
We're going to keep
you on your toes.
So Wednesday, Wednesday, Season2, Part 2 dropped on Wednesday,
September 3rd.
Terrible day to drop that, in myopinion.
I know we only waited like amonth, but I felt like they
hardly did any promos for it.
SPEAKER_00 (12:29):
Drop it the day
before the NFL season starts
back up officially.
Like, come on.
SPEAKER_01 (12:33):
I'm not going to.
I feel like tons of Wednesdaywatchers might not also be NFL
watchers, but you never know.
You never know.
It just seems like we've got theSummer I Turn Pretty going on.
Like, that's kind of...
Star
SPEAKER_00 (12:43):
Trek Strange New
World.
SPEAKER_01 (12:44):
Well, that's not a
Wednesday, but it just seemed
like they should have either.
Again, I totally stand by whatwe said, and if you haven't
listened to our Wednesday partone, I think what the episode's
literally called Wednesday partone back in August, they should
have just given the season atonce.
I think if you're not going togive the season at once or do
what Only Murders is doing anddrop the first couple episodes,
(13:07):
then I hate to say it, you mightas well go with the weekly
release because people are goingto continue talking about your
show each week if you do thatand it just seemed like like
when you only have four episodesto watch it just it goes by way
too quickly and we did stretchit out over the course of the
weekend so
SPEAKER_00 (13:25):
viewership by the
way before we get into the show
itself i saw um a post
SPEAKER_01 (13:29):
is it down
SPEAKER_00 (13:29):
viewership's down 40
from part one to part two over
the same time frame when theycame out so i mean that proves
it right that shows it out rightthere
SPEAKER_01 (13:37):
they were like is
wednesday back this week and i'm
like apparently like netflixreally isn't i mean maybe it's
because they already have season3 confirmed that they're making
it so maybe that's why they'renot pushing it I'm not sure it
just they should have just doneit why just just give it to
especially you know you're onlywaiting that month like just
give it to us all at once allright so guys as you guys know
(13:58):
um or if you don't know huh weare a spoiler focused podcast
when we do talk about the showsthat we have watched so this is
your warning to go ahead andclick to the next chapter if you
have not finished wednesday parttwo yet if you do not care and
you just want to listen to thesoothing sounds of our voices go
(14:20):
ahead and listen or like i saidskip to the next chapter um i
thought part two i'm gonna kickit off so i'm already yapping i
thought part two was better thanpart one what did you think
SPEAKER_00 (14:32):
um yes but also part
one part two was better than
part one but i'll just go aheadand say part season two as a
whole now that we've seen all ofit was not as good as season one
SPEAKER_01 (14:45):
yeah I agree with
that that's not what I was
talking about though yeah yeahin terms and I feel like why I
enjoyed the second part morethere's a couple reasons one we
get principal Weems back she isBrienne of Tarth the actress's
name is just completely missingmy mind right now is her name
like Christine in real life Idon't
SPEAKER_00 (15:04):
know something like
that Brienne of Tarth this is a
good it's a good podcast we'regreat it's
SPEAKER_01 (15:09):
great that we're a
TV podcast and we don't know the
names of the actors but um ifelt like she's back as
wednesday's spirit guide so notonly can wednesday see her but
morticia can also see herbecause they share that same
power and just instantly her onscreen just it brings just that
additional like i don't knowdepth to an episode humor even
(15:30):
mixed with some like emotionalweight to it like all in one and
she's just a really good actresswho i whose name i should know
look her name up right now whilei keep yapping um and then also
i felt like Like, while they didhave still kind of the side, I
would call the sirens plot withBianca the bee plot.
(15:50):
We did have that woven in, but Ithink, like, we already were,
like, deep into the mystery withwhat was going on.
And it felt like, you know, wehad the first couple episodes
where they had, like, thecamping trip and just some kind
of mess around.
Like, while we did have a FreakyFriday type mess around in this,
it was all very more relevant tothe plot.
So we were already kind of,like, deep into the plot of the
story, if that makes sense.
Do you have her name?
SPEAKER_00 (16:10):
Gwendolyn Christie.
SPEAKER_01 (16:12):
Christie.
seeing Christy that's probablywhere I was getting that from
Gwendolyn Christy makes sensebut yeah I feel like we were
already kind of like into theheart of the mystery so if I had
been watching this like all inone set like eight episodes at
once I would have liked the backhalf better and I think it
honestly would have flowedbetter and people would be
remembering it better becausethey get it they get it all at
once and I don't think peoplewould have been like wow nothing
(16:34):
happened very much in thosefirst four episodes if they had
just given them us all at onceso that's that's another reason
why I liked the second partbetter what about you
SPEAKER_00 (16:44):
yeah it flowed
better i do like they didn't tie
so there were two kind ofcompeting plot lines yeah they
sort of taught they tied themtogether in the end and like the
weakest little bow they possiblycould imagine with the sirens
and everything because it's likeit kind of mattered but it
(17:05):
didn't really matter i
SPEAKER_01 (17:06):
feel like we could
have used a couple more episodes
like this could have been 10episodes to flesh that out and
make it matter more
SPEAKER_00 (17:12):
Maybe.
I don't know.
Even from part one, we looked ateach other and said, if they're
setting up Steve Buscemi'scharacter to be a bad guy, it
sucks and we hate it.
It's so obvious.
And it sucked and we hated it.
There was nothing there and wewasted an actor in Steve Buscemi
(17:36):
because he didn't really get todo anything memorable.
He was just a weaselly guy outto make money.
scamming people and I don't knowthe only it seems like the only
reason they got they had thatwhole storyline was to bring in
Morticia's mother so that wecould eventually wind our way to
the very ending sizzler ofseason two and it just was
(17:58):
really like ham-fisted and Ididn't like it
SPEAKER_01 (18:01):
it was just so like
a lot of the villains this
season I felt were fairlyobvious who the villains were
going to be like he and I don'teven know would you call him
like a major villain because hestill really doesn't care about
like like the Wednesday the plotagainst the Addams Family other
than getting their money so partof my original prediction was
correct he was just anopportunist he just wanted to
make money so we got to learn alittle bit more that he's like
(18:24):
he is actually like the OG cultleader of the Sirens and I think
Bianca is a great character andI felt like she could have been
utilized more with that coregroup instead of kind of having
that storyline away and I wouldhave enjoyed that better
SPEAKER_00 (18:37):
wasn't her storyline
in season one basically people
taking advantage of her powersto do bad and then like for that
character I would really like tosee them come up with a second
story that she could be toldaround her for the next season
because it just seems like shegot
SPEAKER_01 (18:52):
she's a good
character
SPEAKER_00 (18:53):
she's a good
character but the same things
just keep happening to her overand over and over
SPEAKER_01 (18:57):
I actually thought
and I was a little thrown off by
it I thought that they weremaybe the actors just have a
good chemistry but her and AjaxEnid's ex like he kind of found
out was helping her and Ithought they were like setting
them up to be like romantic butI think Ajax still likes Enid
what do you think
SPEAKER_00 (19:13):
I think it's open to
season three I still think there
could be something there
SPEAKER_01 (19:17):
I felt some
chemistry
SPEAKER_00 (19:18):
I felt like Ajax and
Enid's relationship with
choosing to be friends at theend I feel like that's kind of a
for me it felt like a finalityof okay we're gonna be friends
is what I felt
SPEAKER_01 (19:31):
see I didn't feel
that at all I felt like he still
sort of likes her and then Ithink she kind of realized like
oh I really screwed this up andmight be like into him now
SPEAKER_00 (19:41):
I did not get that
SPEAKER_01 (19:42):
But the main ship of
the show is– I still– I am going
to clown, put the clown makeupon Tyler and Wednesday.
I like them in season one.
And I was like– I figured out hewas like the hide early in
season one too.
And I think that– I think theymight actually like give him a
little bit of redemption inseason three.
(20:04):
Maybe I'm just clowning.
Let's see.
Multiple times he could havekilled her.
She could have killed him.
And they didn't.
He still brings her dead flowersbecause– because he knows she's
allergic to colors he in thatvery last scene she's like he
she has an opportunity to killhim he even says just like kill
me to get me out of thesituation which will explain
(20:24):
that here in a few minutes butshe just cuts his little
handcuffs off him so he can getoff the table and he's like why
and she's like I missed and kindof had this like Wednesday had
this like a little look so wehave him his like he's going out
to see because obviously okaylet's just kick it off the woman
in the mental hospital that wasTyler's mom I felt like that was
(20:45):
fairly obvious and she does sheshe off herself and then or no
she she does
SPEAKER_00 (20:53):
yeah she sacrificed
she's fighting him and she
sacrifices herself
SPEAKER_01 (20:58):
she basically she
was okay so we're gonna get to
that here in a few minutesbecause there's a lot going on
that ties with Tyler's mom andslurp and all that but Tyler at
the end he does make it up outof this season and he is at a
grave site of his mother whichwe'll get into but Capri Mrs.
(21:20):
Capri is that her name the musicteacher another maybe villain
that was extremely obvious and Iwas hoping they would just make
her kind of a weird lady we findout a little more about her that
she also had a what a hideboyfriend and then she says at
the end that her dad was a hideshe's a werewolf and she's like
I want you to come be like inbasically a support group with
(21:41):
me do you think she's gonna befull-blown villain and try to be
his new master or do you thinkmaybe control him or do you
think maybe she really is notbad and she really wants to form
a support group like what do youthink I think
SPEAKER_00 (21:54):
I hope it is the
latter and I hope that they
actually go that way they kindof left it ambiguous on purpose
to you know drive excitement formystery for what could be next
season but I really do hope itis actually the support group
and they're actually wanting totry she's probably gonna be evil
but she's probably gonna bebecause she's a redhead
SPEAKER_01 (22:11):
yeah Tim Burton
doesn't like redheads very much
SPEAKER_00 (22:12):
The whole family
thing with that is easy.
Okay.
Tyler's mom is a hide.
Yes.
And Tyler's mom has a brotherthat we didn't know about until
this season.
And it turns out it was Slurp.
Isaac.
All along.
Who is actually Isaac.
And he's the guy that we heardthe ghost story in the beginning
of the season about how he wastrying to do some...
(22:33):
Pugsley brings him back to life.
Yeah.
Pugsley brings him back to life.
He eats brains.
He eats brains, which slowlyturns him back into a regular
human.
He's also a Victor Frankensteintype...
And can I just say, though,
SPEAKER_01 (22:44):
careful, Isaac.
I might fall in love with youhere.
The actor is so
SPEAKER_00 (22:49):
cute.
What murder.
We find out that Gomez andMorticia knew him in school.
He was friends with Gomez.
He took advantage of Gomez touse his electric ability to try
and remove the hide from hissister, which didn't work out
because Morticia came in at thelast moment.
SPEAKER_01 (23:08):
Well, it was going
to basically kill Gomez.
And Gomez doesn't have thatpower.
anymore I think that'll be aplot point in season 3 I think
Gomez might get it back but heand Pugsley both have that like
kind of electric power so it wasgoing to kill him that's why
Morticia went
SPEAKER_00 (23:22):
in and did that so
now we so now fast forward there
was an explosion fast forwardyes explosion he ends up dead
they bought Morticia and Gomezbury him fast forward 30 years
here we are doing the same thingwith the kids and oh yeah and by
the way Isaac Knight is the bodythat thing belongs to
SPEAKER_01 (23:41):
and who called that
in season one that was me I'm
getting my edge back people wellthey had a lot of focus on Thane
and like feeling like like whatam I like who do I belong with
and I remember like people werelike what if he belongs to like
the zombie I thought it wasreally sad that like Slurp Isaac
(24:02):
didn't even have any likefeelings towards Pugsley Pugsley
just wanted a friend and Ithought he'd at least be nice to
him and he was just like nopeI'm gonna catch you and take
your power just like I did yourdaddy and that's what why Tyler
and his mom had that conflict atthe end was they had Tyler
strapped down on that table andPugsley was going to use the his
(24:23):
electric powers to remove thehide from Tyler and Tyler is
like no I don't want the hideremoved from me and then when
Wednesday shows up to kind ofsolve everything that's when she
cuts the cuts off Tyler and hegets out of there and then the
mom goes after him and I thinkshe realizes like because she
was she was already dying that'swhy they weren't going to use
(24:44):
Pugsley's power to get the hideout of her like she was already
coughing up blood too late forme and I think she realized like
wow my kid's a monster and shethey were fighting on like kind
of the tower outside ofNevermore the school and she
fell backwards and basicallylike impaled herself so we know
mommy dearest is gone I wouldlike to see Tyler get some type
of redemption but maybe it'sjust because I'm clowning for
(25:06):
the ship I don't know what doyou think do you I think they
still like each other
SPEAKER_00 (25:09):
sure I don't it's
SPEAKER_01 (25:11):
Wednesday she's into
it she could have killed him.
She did it.
SPEAKER_00 (25:13):
I agree.
I don't disagree with you.
I do think like for me I'm notlike the shipping going on
around is fine but I don't knowthat I'm interested in a ship
for Wednesday in particular.
Also we do need to cover Enid'sstory wrap up real quick.
She found out she might be analpha which means that if she
(25:35):
transforms into a werewolf undera full moon that she could just
get stuck that way and then shehas to end up transforming under
a full moon to save Wednesdayfrom where she was buried alive
and then she runs away and so atthe very end of the season I'm
sorry the almost last stinger ofthe season was Wednesday and
(25:57):
Fester driving off to go try andcatch Enid and potentially save
her and turn her
SPEAKER_01 (26:02):
back basically they
had buried Isaac and Mommy
Dearest had buried Wednesdaydeep into the ground and it was
the ground our little Agnes whowe love now by the away
Wednesday's former stalker andnow I think she's also trying to
take on Ian's personality but Ithink she's just she wants to be
part of the little girly crewand I feel like she's a cute
little sister edition sohopefully not an evil redhead I
(26:24):
don't want I don't think I don'tthink she's made I think her
parents there was a drop athrowaway line about Agnes's
parents one of them like being anormie or something I feel like
that could be villainous but Ithink I think Agnes just wants
to be friends with Wednesday andEnid so Enid comes to get or
excuse me Agnes comes to getEnid out of the loopy cages
where that she was supposed tobe to not be stuck but our girl
(26:46):
Enid needs to save her bestieand turns and yeah so when
Wednesday Wednesday's face whenshe looked at Enid and was like
Enid like you could tell she waslike touched but also what have
you done and I feel like that'sa tribute to Jenna Ortega's
acting because it's just likeall in the eyes the subtle
facial expressions that she doesum now
SPEAKER_00 (27:08):
all right so all of
that said then we get to the
final stinger on in the season, which we find out that, and both
of us have called this, AuntOphelia is not actually dead.
SPEAKER_01 (27:20):
She's alive,
SPEAKER_00 (27:21):
but she's not Lady
Gaga.
And she's being kept under lockand key at Grandma's house.
SPEAKER_01 (27:27):
Yes.
So we all thought, and by we, Imean a lot of the fandom,
thought when it was announcedthat Lady Gaga was going to be
in part two, that she would beOphelia, because Ophelia's
blonde in the comics.
We thought, of course you'regoing to bring in Lady Gaga,
make her play someone weird.
Instead, it seemed like she wasin a...
she was like a ghost thatWednesday contacted from beyond
the grave Mrs.
Rotwood and she owns the cottagethat Morticia and Gomez are
(27:51):
staying in while they're at theNevermore kind of campus I think
that they will probably do alittle bit more with Rotwood
because I think she definitelyhas a past with grandma that
hasn't been fully unraveled yetthey might not but I was kind of
like it's clear to us that theyhave not cast an actress for
Ophelia oh yeah we do not seethe back of or we do not see the
front of Ophelia's head we onlyonly see the back of her head
(28:13):
her blonde hair and what does itsay like Wednesday must die or
kill Wednesday or something like
SPEAKER_02 (28:18):
that
SPEAKER_01 (28:18):
now I guess there
was a character this is on tick
tock in season one that hadgiven Wednesday a book and
people are in like I think heended up dying in season one I
don't have any memory of thisprobably because season one was
so long ago so I'm gonna have togo back and rewatch that but a
lot of people are speculatingthat that is actually Ophelia's
son so we're gonna have to goback in and maybe rewatch that
(28:40):
you don't have any memory of it
SPEAKER_00 (28:41):
you can go back and
rewatch and let me know
SPEAKER_01 (28:43):
I'll fill you in
I'll give you the cliff notes we
knew we caught it when likeOphelia was not showing up and
Lady Gaga wasn't Ophelia we'relike she's gonna show up that's
gonna be the sizzle and I thinkthat grandma like do we I don't
know grandma has a lot of illintentions because she's clearly
locking her up down there butshe was kind of insistent about
(29:05):
Wednesday coming to live withher in the summer do you think
she wanted to bring her therebecause she knew Ophelia was
there and there's somethingnefarious going on or do you
think Wednesday would have nevereven known that like what's the
deal there no
SPEAKER_00 (29:18):
I don't I don't
think she's I think it's she's
just trying to hurt Morticia bypeeling her daughter away from
her so you don't think it hadanything
SPEAKER_01 (29:28):
to do with Ophelia
being locked in that basement
writing like stuff because I'msure that grandma's seen that
but
SPEAKER_00 (29:33):
now the writers
could could go ahead and make
season three and make me seemfoolish but I do not believe as
written and shown season twothat she had any Yeah.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (30:12):
child coded in many
ways and like that dynamic and I
felt like Wednesday or Morticialike for as weird as the Addams
family could be like they that'sjust so normal with a lot of
mother-daughter relationships
SPEAKER_00 (30:24):
I do want to shout
out there was a bright point I
know I'm sounding very full ofwoe over this yeah we got caught
out by the way for part one
SPEAKER_01 (30:33):
someone's like it
seemed like you and Daniel hated
the whole show and I was like nowe really liked it and they were
like well you guys complained alot when you talked about So I
have to put that in there.
SPEAKER_00 (30:45):
So I hear you and I
want to say a bright point.
The episode in part two whenEnid and Wednesday switch
bodies.
The Freaky Friday.
The Freaky Friday episode wasreally entertaining.
I thought that both actors did aphenomenal job of being the
other person but in their ownbody.
So I thought that was really funand really interesting.
(31:05):
I think I saw some people onlinethat did not like that but I
thought it was good.
But it was a
SPEAKER_01 (31:11):
mess.
episode that also had plotrelevance because they were kind
of at odds and they needed tounderstand each other what was
going on and we also were ableto get more information during
that episode I thought it was itwas so good I had you pause it
and I'm like are they voicedubbing like is that like are
the actors using their theirvoices no that would like Jenna
(31:32):
Ortega both of them did greatyeah but like it was just it's
so weird because I've just seenJenna Ortega it's like unless
you revert it back to likeDisney kid but like she she was
fantastic the actors like yousaid was fantastic so good to
the point like I asked you Ithink twice I'm like are they
like voice dubbing each other Ithought that was good but like
it was it wasn't your typicalmess around like they had the
(31:52):
funny parts like oh Wednesdayreally is allergic to colors but
it was it served relevance itmoved the plot forward I think
like the only Mike my main beefof this season is not
necessarily with the show itselfit's with Netflix the way they
rolled it out so I still reallyenjoyed it I think that we could
have used a couple more episodesbecause the whole sirens plot
(32:14):
that could have been anotherplot of the season I'm not
entirely sure either with theplot from the first one about
like the mental hospital andlike who was controlling the
Ravens I'm still not sure it wasactually that woman
SPEAKER_00 (32:26):
yeah they just kind
of dropped that plot like
SPEAKER_01 (32:30):
dropped it like a
bad
SPEAKER_00 (32:31):
yeah just like
really out of nowhere it just
kind of like oh this Raven girlwho's controlling the Ravens
murdered people like it's justkind of gone that was like
SPEAKER_01 (32:41):
hopefully they
circle back to that a little bit
maybe they will with some stuffgoing down with Ophelia but yeah
I think the whole sirens
SPEAKER_00 (32:47):
thing well no wait
didn't Isaac eat her
SPEAKER_01 (32:51):
yeah Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (32:53):
So I don't think
they're circling back.
SPEAKER_01 (32:55):
No, I mean the whole
plot with the mental.
Okay, you and I are not talkingabout the same thing.
SPEAKER_02 (33:00):
Okay.
SPEAKER_01 (33:02):
I think there's
other people that were
controlling the Ravens besidesthat woman.
I felt that that was very easy.
I don't think she was the soleperson that was doing that
unless it really was just athrowaway.
And I think there's other stuffthat happened in that mental
hospital that they could circleback to with Ophelia.
I
SPEAKER_00 (33:18):
think they will
circle back to it.
I don't know.
So
SPEAKER_01 (33:21):
you think that woman
SPEAKER_00 (33:22):
was the sole person?
They didn't give us anyindication in the second half of
the season that there wasanything else going on there.
Isaac shows up, eats her brain, and she's gone.
That's why a lot of people
SPEAKER_01 (33:33):
think it wasn't just
that woman.
They think other people wereinvolved.
Are you understanding
SPEAKER_00 (33:37):
what I'm saying?
Yeah, I understand what you'resaying.
I will note that I do think wesaw that raven, the one with the
weird eye, one more time at thevery last show.
I think it flew at the camera.
So maybe there is some sunlightthere in what you're saying.
I don't see
SPEAKER_01 (33:53):
I didn't notice that
but I was like a lot of people
think that it was just that wasall like neatly cleaned up I
think if anything we're gonnaget flashbacks with Ophelia's
time of course but they classicit just seemed very like I don't
know that was just very cleanedup very easily and that there's
more that there there had to beI feel like she I guess what I'm
(34:14):
trying to say to you is I feellike she was not the only one
involved in that that there wereother people that might have
been doing that stuff and thatwould add to the mystery and if
not they should they have timeto write it in there does that
make sense yeah and then sowe've got Isaac I don't think
they basically pulled out at thevery end the last like kind of
(34:35):
battle like the thing that wasworking as like his heart but
he's a zombie I think he cancome back at any point something
could happen to put him backtogether and I think he could
still be a villain as well inseason three I'm not necessarily
sure even with Ophelia'smessaging that she's gonna be
the big bad I think it couldstill be I think he could come
involved I think we they mightwant us to think that Tyler's
(34:56):
bad at first but I really dothink they might give Tyler a
redemption arc
SPEAKER_00 (34:59):
yeah I think I think
we've seen the last of Isaac I
think that just like last seasonhe's such a that's such a good
character though I know you wantto see that man on screen again
but I think that just like lastseason like most of the most of
that's resolved like thecharacter the villain from last
season Christina Ricci'scharacter yes she was in this
(35:20):
season but she wasn't really afactor in any meaningful way I
SPEAKER_01 (35:24):
think there's a lot
that you can do going forward
though with Isaac like there isnot just because I like to be I
think like the crazy scientistman is cute what murder I think
that there's more stories theycould do with it
SPEAKER_00 (35:38):
I do think that
because the Nevermore Academy is
apparently closed yes Wednesdayis off chasing down Enid I think
that there's probably asignificant amount of next
season that will not be atNevermore like I think we will
get there.
They will open it back up.
We will have a new principal whowe can immediately suspect is
(35:59):
terrible.
Is it
SPEAKER_01 (36:00):
going to be the new
Defense of the Dark Arts
teacher?
That seems like what they'regoing for.
Everyone's bad that's going tocome in now.
SPEAKER_00 (36:06):
I wouldn't be
surprised if we get eight
episodes next season and themid-season break is when we get
back to Nevermore.
SPEAKER_01 (36:14):
That's my take on
it.
I think it'll take a little bitto get Enid to come back.
I don't think they're going tospend the whole season season
with Enid as a wolf at all.
SPEAKER_00 (36:25):
And I think
Wednesday is going to, I think
they'll find Enid, get hertransitioned back to a person.
And then I think Wednesday we'llhave to, we'll hold up her into
the bargain and go hang out withgrandma for a little bit and
open up some doors with Opheliathere.
Cause she's got to go tograndma's house at some point
and accidentally run intoOphelia.
Yeah.
And so I think that we'll, allof that's going to happen.
She
SPEAKER_01 (36:45):
already told grandma
she wasn't going to stay the
whole summer,
SPEAKER_00 (36:46):
but I know that
she'll get there.
Yeah.
And so I think that you're goingto see a lot of goofing about
with that.
SPEAKER_01 (36:51):
Well, her and
Morticia's issue.
weren't just automaticallyresolved she's still like Ewan
says like I don't fully liketrust my mother on everything
because that's just again thatclassic mother daughter dynamic
some other things I liked aboutit the season I thought well we
obviously have the iconic dancefrom season one I did think Enid
and Agnes's little dance numberwas really good and the more
(37:12):
I've watched it the more I likeit it was entertaining it also
was relevant to the plot becausethey needed Agnes to one of her
power her power is you knowbecoming invisible and she was
able to get the siren thing offof Steve Buscemi's he had like a
medallion that protected himfrom being entranced by the
siren it was just it was a funscene I like fun scenes like
that I like any time we get theysometimes use sort of like this
(37:35):
animation style to tell like astory I like that they do that
do you like that I like thatthey do that on Wednesday
SPEAKER_00 (37:42):
oh they they did
that in part one where they went
back and did like the claymationkind of like Nightmare Before
Christmas kind of thing yeah Ilike that I'm in on that
SPEAKER_01 (37:51):
so I really enjoyed
And then I did like how they
Vecna-wond us, you could say, with the whole Thane.
We find out the Thane reveal.
Thane spelled backwards.
Night.
I liked it.
I thought it was creative andfunny.
I
SPEAKER_00 (38:08):
don't get in on that
stuff.
SPEAKER_01 (38:10):
I liked it.
I enjoyed it.
And then, of course, I knew thatThane wasn't going to stay on
Isaac's body because Thane issuch a part of the Addams
family.
And I loved the little scenewhere he's like, when he did you
know I guess unstitch himselffrom Isaac and then yeah you're
back in like the dorm room withWednesday putting him in his
(38:31):
little um kind of I guess cratelittle house and she's like of
course you would come from anevil genius that's why we get
alone so well or something likethat I thought that was cute and
just a little like basically Ijust really think we could have
had a longer season we waited solong for season two and I felt
like I want more more so it likeyeah we've complained about
(38:55):
certain aspects of it but istill enjoyed what i watched and
i wanted more and i hate thatwe're probably gonna have to
wait forever for season threeespecially with all these
sizzles they have us on um ibelieve they said they're gonna
start filming um these are justspeculations maybe start filming
early 2026 so the earliest weprobably get it is 2027 and it's
like at some point like jennaortega obviously she's in like
(39:18):
she's an adult woman so she doeshave a youthful look but like
the eugene kid he's gonna havelike a beard like a five o'clock
shadow by the time like wedidn't even recognize him at the
beginning of season one i waslike and i am glad that that's
another part him and pugsleylike he's being he realized like
he was being a jerk and thereason why pugsley felt the need
to you know create a zombiefriend because eugene should
(39:40):
have known what it feels like tobe left out and should have been
there for pugsley but he was iguess too cool for school um
what do you think about thefocus on the adams family as a
whole there have been somecomplaints that just wanted to
be about one Wednesday and thensome people that like that the
Adams is more more incorporatedin
SPEAKER_00 (39:59):
I think that
regardless of what you think
about it next season is going tojust be more of that because
SPEAKER_01 (40:06):
yeah I'm asking what
you think of
SPEAKER_00 (40:07):
that because they're
because with the family with the
mother with grandma and Opheliait's just gonna be more Adams
family it doesn't bother me tobe honest like I like it I like
Gomez and I like Morticia Ithink they're funny
SPEAKER_01 (40:20):
yeah oh my favorite
scene of the season was was when
Principal Williams was sayinggoodbye for now to Wednesday
Morticia and she kind of likegoes out in a beam of light and
it's like this emotional momentbut then Gomez walks in he's
like whoo it's bright outsidethe
SPEAKER_00 (40:34):
guy
SPEAKER_01 (40:34):
playing Gomez is
hysterical
SPEAKER_00 (40:36):
yeah he's funny he's
great
SPEAKER_01 (40:38):
all I remember him
though that actor is from the
Frasier episode that'll be$4yeah Wednesday Wednesday I would
rate this season a if I'm doinga scale of 1 to 10 I would give
it a 7.5 or an 8.
I'm much better grader than you, though.
SPEAKER_00 (40:57):
Oh, are we rating
things for the first time
suddenly, just randomly out ofnowhere?
Out
SPEAKER_01 (41:03):
of the blue.
I don't want to hear it wasfine,
SPEAKER_00 (41:05):
so I'm making you do
numbers.
I'm going to give it a 6.
It was fine.
SPEAKER_01 (41:09):
Oh my gosh.
Favorite character fromWednesday?
SPEAKER_00 (41:13):
Gomez.
SPEAKER_01 (41:14):
So Gomez.
Alright, mine is Enid,obviously.
Come on.
But I really like Agnes like shereally grew on me and I didn't
like her at the beginning butyeah I'm excited for season
three I'll probably forget aboutWednesday until until probably
they start rolling out you knowhopefully more promos in a
couple years that's the that'sthe downfall of these streaming
(41:38):
shows is not only do you getshortened seasons the absolute
glacial pace of waiting and Ifeel like it's not as bad when
it's only a year between seasonsbut it seems like Netflix and
again you could blame some ofthe Apple shows like Severance
and stuff.
They make you wait longer too.
But Netflix shows in particularseem to make you wait longer.
(41:59):
Whereas like a lot of the Hulu,Disney Plus shows and Amazon
Prime shows give you like ayear.
Like the only reason why TheSummer I Turned Pretty was two
years was because of the strike.
But I feel like Only Murders, wejust had that a year ago.
SPEAKER_00 (42:11):
No, but I think I
can boil that down a little bit
better.
It's not necessarily the show, like where it's at.
Although Netflix does seem to bea really big outlier from
everybody else but if it's theshow
SPEAKER_01 (42:24):
Bobby Brown is
married woman and has a
SPEAKER_00 (42:26):
baby the shows that
are like big on effects and
stuff like that they're takinglonger than the one like only
SPEAKER_01 (42:32):
murderers take too
long then
SPEAKER_00 (42:35):
do you know how much
of that show that the set pieces
that that's in that show is bluescreen it's not actually you're
not feeling
SPEAKER_01 (42:40):
like London don't
they
SPEAKER_00 (42:42):
honey
SPEAKER_01 (42:43):
yes they do
SPEAKER_00 (42:44):
I know they do I'm
not saying they don't do you
know how much does London looklike it did 200 years ago
SPEAKER_01 (42:51):
play that's no
SPEAKER_00 (42:56):
cool there's a lot
of blue screen work going on in
these shows that you don't knowabout I feel like they
SPEAKER_01 (43:00):
make us forever take
forever
SPEAKER_00 (43:01):
for Bridgerton
versus only murders in the
building there's not much goingon beyond what you're putting on
screen
SPEAKER_01 (43:07):
and same thing then
for the bear
SPEAKER_00 (43:09):
and the same thing
for the bear that's why they can
seem like they come out soquickly what
SPEAKER_01 (43:12):
about Percy Jackson
then
SPEAKER_00 (43:14):
Percy Jackson came
out
SPEAKER_01 (43:16):
last year no
SPEAKER_00 (43:19):
no it didn't come
out last year you're wrong We
watched it last year, but it didnot come out last year.
Wait
SPEAKER_01 (43:27):
a minute.
No, it did.
It came out last Christmas,right?
Didn't I get the books lastyear?
It came out around Christmas.
Or am I thinking Christmasbefore the marathon?
So that would have been 2023.
What is time?
Time is
SPEAKER_00 (43:43):
a thief.
I don't know.
We're really dragging our feethere, but I guess I have to
check.
2023.
A
SPEAKER_01 (43:50):
broken clock is
twice a day.
SPEAKER_00 (43:53):
So just say it.
I was.
SPEAKER_01 (43:55):
Correct.
Enjoy it.
All right.
So moving on.
Speaking of shows, a show thatis crazy.
out almost
SPEAKER_00 (44:03):
like it's a podcast
about a TV show
SPEAKER_01 (44:06):
airing season two as
we speak on I don't I still
don't know is it Max is it HBOMax what is the app called I
SPEAKER_00 (44:14):
think it's back to
HBO Max
SPEAKER_01 (44:16):
no they change it
they change the logo all the
time but we are currentlywatching Peacemaker season one
even though season two is airingright now I think we're a good
piece through season one I
SPEAKER_00 (44:28):
think we probably
are two episodes from finished
SPEAKER_01 (44:30):
this is another
James Gunn um to dc marvel the
worst thing you ever did was letthat man go because james gunn
he made a great superman andthis show is the music chef's
kiss they totally did like a onedirection song in one of the
episodes but like it was a coverof a one direction song and like
(44:51):
i like literally like stood likeoff the couch like in excitement
like oh my gosh i know the songum but we i got i didn't watch
the suicide squad and i don'tthink you did either but that's
where peacemaker shows up And wegot to see him.
He's in the Superman movie forlike a few minutes.
SPEAKER_00 (45:07):
Yeah, he was like a
Flash cameo on TV.
SPEAKER_01 (45:10):
And that's John
Cena.
The girl from Orange is the NewBlack is in it.
She is Viola Davis' character, which I think it's something
Walter Waller.
Waller, yeah.
Amanda Waller or something, Ithink.
Yeah, something like that.
Who was kind of like the person,I think, that assembled the
Suicide Squad.
Yes.
And then you're like, there'sthis guy from Harry Potter
(45:31):
that's in it.
And I'm like...
okay like this is Daniel's beenbegging me to watch the show for
like two months and I finallyagreed a couple weeks ago and
then like so we're part waythrough and I'm like who is the
Harry Potter guy vigilante andhe does not one I'm used to the
guy being British so two he dyedhis hair from blonde to brunette
(45:51):
and has these glasses on and Inow that I like now that I can
see it in the face I was like ohthat's like the guy that tried
to that liked Hermione and Ifeel like the sixth movie and
that she like put a hex on tonot get the role of keeper so
Ron could get it and he wassuper annoying in the Harry
Potter movies and then he's alsowas in Bridgerton season one is
(46:12):
the prince okay so because everytime like I've seen that actor
I'm like because I remember thatHarry Potter guy but suddenly
you make a man a sociopath and anerd and put some glasses on him
I'm like hello and then as soonas I realized I was like no that
can't be the Harry Potter guythat can't be I don't want to
(46:32):
say too much about peacemakeryet because we haven't finished
the season but it's gottenprogressively better to me like
i'm like now that i realize ihave only murders to watch
tonight i'm excited about thatbut i'm like oh man i'm gonna
have to like put you know resumepeacemaker like tomorrow or
something like i'm to the pointnow where i'm ready to watch the
next episodes
SPEAKER_00 (46:51):
well they got you
because they got the team the
team came together and i'm sureit'll ultimately crumble yeah
and you like that of course wewe can't talk about peacemaker
without talking about the thingthat makes Peacemaker the thing
Peacemaker the opening creditsit's a no skip
SPEAKER_01 (47:08):
yeah I don't think
they relate to the show at all
SPEAKER_00 (47:11):
no
SPEAKER_01 (47:11):
but they're great
and every time I
SPEAKER_00 (47:14):
see it for anybody
who hasn't seen Peacemaker it's
a dance number
SPEAKER_01 (47:17):
and from my
understanding they there's a
different one in season two
SPEAKER_00 (47:21):
yeah different song
different dance number
SPEAKER_01 (47:24):
but yeah each each
episode gets better I'm sure my
heart's gonna be broken I can'tget past the character die beard
because he was a new girl He waslike the homeless guy that lived
outside of the apartment, andhis voice just echoes in my
brain.
And then one of the guys that'son the team with him, he was the
villain in...
SPEAKER_00 (47:41):
Guardians 3.
Okay.
That guy's a good actor.
Yeah, he's very good.
He's very good.
SPEAKER_01 (47:46):
And then James
Gunn's wife
SPEAKER_00 (47:47):
is in it.
It's a good show.
It's funny.
But it's got some seriousmoments, got some heartfelt
moments.
I'm enjoying it.
I think, like I said, we justwatched episode six of season
one.
I think...
I haven't looked to see, but...
From how things are escalatingwith the plot, I've got to
imagine seven and eight isprobably it for season one.
(48:07):
It almost felt like
SPEAKER_01 (48:09):
a finale could have
been in our previous one that we
watched.
SPEAKER_00 (48:11):
Yeah, yeah.
So I think then we'll be onseason two.
And that's weekly release?
Weekly release, yeah.
So there's a couple, I thinkthree or four out so far.
SPEAKER_01 (48:20):
I like how I'm like,
do a weekly release, more people
will talk about it.
Then when I realize that I mightget caught up to a week release,
I'm like, oh, no.
All right, speaking of weeklyrelease, let's return to our The
Summer I Turn Vulcan serieswhere we talk about Star Trek
Strange New Worlds Season 3 andthe Summer I Turn Pretty Season
3.
(48:41):
Since the finale is airing thisweek for Star Trek we will kick
it off with Star Trek StrangeNew Worlds.
I will let you go first becauseI have some beef and I am very
upset with that
SPEAKER_00 (48:50):
show.
Ladies and gentlemen we got her.
We got her to be so emotionallyI
SPEAKER_01 (48:57):
almost broke
SPEAKER_00 (48:58):
my glasses.
So emotionally invested in aStar Trek episode that she made
me pause it and she stormed outof the room, went to the
kitchen, snacked on some foodfor a few minutes to cool off
before we could finish theepisode.
Thank you.
My job here is done.
I
SPEAKER_01 (49:15):
hate you for that.
I almost broke my glasses.
I was so upset at the ending.
They have me literally mad.
My favorite character on theshow tends to be Lon.
She's been bugging me thisseason anyway, even though I did
kind of like her in Spa cookingup.
I just feel like her personalityis just...
some of the character growththat she showed in the previous
season I feel like they'veretracted that a little bit she
(49:37):
really she and Chapel had thatconversation and Chapel was just
trying to be nice and not makeit awkward that you know like
hey like good for you and SpockLon gave seriously like pick me
not like I'm not like othergirls energy and I can't stand
it when women do that so I wasalready irritated by that but
I'll say why I'm mad at Lon in aminute but I was so mad and then
(49:57):
like also you know ladies thatwas an emotional week for me the
build-up to a certain thing.
So I already had that going forme.
I cried.
I was
SPEAKER_00 (50:10):
very upset.
I'll tell everybody.
I told you I was going to
SPEAKER_01 (50:15):
quit watching too.
I might not tune in Thursday.
SPEAKER_00 (50:17):
Is this your
favorite episode of Strange New
Worlds?
SPEAKER_01 (50:20):
It's not my
favorite.
My favorite is still the musicalepisode from season two.
But if I were to take a stepback and rate what I think is
the best episode, it would bethis one.
SPEAKER_00 (50:30):
So this was a
classic sci-fi trope episode
where Ortega's our favoritepilot of the ship ends up
stranded on a strange alienplanet and oh my gosh she meets
a Gorn who's been the big bad ofStrange New Worlds and is also
stranded there and it's theclassic sci-fi trope of the
(50:50):
alien and the human have tothey're adversaries but they
slowly as the episode goes alongthey learn to work together to
the point where they form afriendship and And then as, you
know, so they finally figure outa way to, you know, message the
Enterprise.
The Enterprise comes to pickthem up.
And when they come out of theplace where they've been hiding,
(51:13):
Ortegas comes out.
The Gorn follows.
Leon has just beamed in.
She sees a Gorn and just pumpsthree shots of phaser right into
the Gorn.
No questions asked.
Not
SPEAKER_01 (51:25):
even seeing Ortega
smiling at her.
Just completely knee-jerkreaction.
And I know that Lon has a lotof...
lot of childhood beef with theGorn I get it but literally like
she kind of proved like Ortega'sbrother that was doing that like
documentary yeah I was trying totalk some of the bad side of
Starfleet and like I think Ibelieve Lon was one of the
characters like sometimes youguys just shoot without asking
(51:47):
like he like she just proved hispoint yeah she it made me so mad
because like you could see thatOrtega was smiling that she
wasn't in danger and the otherones had their guns I think
ready to shoot but Lon just likedid it no no questions asked
nothing no time to think andmaybe she's like no i was doing
my job the gorn are evil so iguess you could defend her that
(52:08):
way but it broke my heartbecause y'all enemies to lovers
it also works with friendsanytime like like so yes the
enemies to lovers is my favoriteromance trope but i also love
friendships also being formedfrom like some of my best my
best friendships in real lifestarted off with i thought you
were the b word like a b-i-t-c-hlike and when people say that to
(52:28):
me too and then we end up likebeing best besties like some of
my some of my top friendshipshave come from like I didn't
like that person they didn'tlike me and then we ended up
like oh like realizing like ohmaybe we are that way but we
don't have to be that way toeach other and we can be fun and
bond over it and one I wasreally excited to get an Erica
focused episode because it's Iknew we were going to get one
(52:50):
this season
SPEAKER_00 (52:50):
like she's had
prominent roles in other
episodes but I think this mightbe her first like actual real
Erica this was her
SPEAKER_01 (52:55):
first full-blown a
plot Erica leads the episode and
I knew it was coming I didn'tknow it would be this good and I
feel like there was a scenewhere they were communicating
and she's like it's gonna saylike agree disagree and it was
just funny like the banter backand forth and it really it got
you to like understand that youknow maybe like we were you know
(53:18):
made to be like enemies but wehave a lot more in common than
we think and I knewrealistically that we weren't
gonna have a Gorn walking aroundthe Enterprise but I thought
maybe like the Gorn would likedo a sacrifice or something or
maybe they would probably andhelp her out like I was I was
just devastated I was gutted Iwas like Erica at the end of
that like just just strut
SPEAKER_00 (53:39):
yeah the the like I
went going in as soon as I
recognized the trope of theepisode I knew that Gorn wasn't
making it out of there but likeyou said I was willing to accept
you know that heroic sacrificebut for to just get gunned down
like that it was brutal it wasreally brutal and and I'm gonna
say it right now I'm gonna bedisappointed in the writers if
(54:01):
they that's just forgotten.
Yeah, I agree.
Like that better come up as acontention point between
Ortega's and Lon in futureepisodes.
Maybe not necessarily the nextepisode because it's the season
finale, but certainly intoseason four, that needs to come
up as a point of contention.
SPEAKER_01 (54:19):
Yeah, because her
conversation with Ahura at the
end where she was like, well, the Gorn became my friend, but
Lon is also my friend and Idon't know how to feel about it.
That to me is not enough to putclosure on that.
I would have liked Lon to atleast have said she was sorry
and she's probably going to beback to dancing with Spock again
in the finale and there's goingto be nothing in that because I
would have liked Lon to be likehey I'm sorry for this and I
(54:41):
don't and Lon probably isn'tsorry she's probably not because
she has a lot of trauma with theGorn I don't know it really
rubbed me the wrong way and Lonis a character who I like a lot
but she doesn't have plot armorand I said back in season one
that I mean I don't thinkthey'll do this because I think
too many people like her but Iwas like what if Lon does like
(55:02):
die or go off and lead anothership and for some reason we just
never hear from her again whichI think would be weird I'm like
what if she actually becomesbecause she has that her what is
it grandpa is Khan
SPEAKER_00 (55:12):
like great great
great many many generations many
generations
SPEAKER_01 (55:16):
of the evilness what
if she becomes a villain
SPEAKER_00 (55:20):
does a heel turn
could
SPEAKER_01 (55:22):
I don't that'd be
heartbreaking
SPEAKER_00 (55:23):
but it would be
heartbreaking I don't think
they're going to go that way butit wouldn't be completely out of
left field either real quickbefore we go on to Summer I Turn
Pretty so because we'rereleasing this episode right
before like skin of our teethbefore the finale of Strange New
World Season 3 we have gottensome final pictures from the
(55:44):
last episode and one of them isour favorite engineer Mr.
Scott in a kilt so let me askyou he was in a kilt earlier
this season for the supposedwedding that was actually a fake
thing Scottish people don't wearkilts for things other than
special occasions and everybodyon the internet's going, well,
he's attending a funeral.
(56:04):
If it's a funeral, who's gettinggot?
SPEAKER_01 (56:08):
I really hope it's
not Battelle.
I feel like they are going tocircle back to her because she
has that Gorn DNA in there.
But then the more I thoughtabout it was like if they really
wanted to, they could save thatas a storyline and for, but then
according to you, that's not whoPike ends up marrying.
So I don't know.
It could be his the lady fromKimmy Schmidt.
(56:31):
What is her name with the curly
SPEAKER_00 (56:32):
hair yeah yeah the
older carol kane
SPEAKER_01 (56:35):
carol kane's
character that would disappoint
me because i think so fun butshe's clearly lived a long life
SPEAKER_00 (56:41):
yeah but they've
also done that already in a like
the room if you recall
SPEAKER_01 (56:44):
chapel's wedding
SPEAKER_00 (56:47):
maybe but if you
were well so if you recall um
the engineer from season onethat we all liked sacrificed
himself and i think that wouldbe you know really sloppy to
repeat the same thing um i don'tthink chapel and Corby ever get
married I'm pretty sure whenit's he's referred to as her
ex-fiance in the original serieswhen it comes up I don't think
(57:09):
they ever actually you know wentthrough with it I have to be
honest right now my money is onBattelle is something's gonna
happen and she's gonna bite ityeah she's gonna they're gonna
have to put her down I think iswhat's gonna happen
SPEAKER_01 (57:23):
I hate that because
I finally got to like the
character that's
SPEAKER_00 (57:26):
but see that right
there that tells you all you
need to know as soon as theygive like as soon as it's
Especially a character like...
Ortega's isn't every episodecharacter, but Battelle is not.
Yeah.
So as soon as you get backgroundon one of those kind of
people...
SPEAKER_01 (57:39):
And we know we have
the whole DNA situation with
her.
SPEAKER_00 (57:45):
It's been a through
point through the season.
I think we're going to getresolution, but I don't think
she's making it out of thatresolution.
How many
SPEAKER_01 (57:50):
more seasons do we
have scheduled?
SPEAKER_00 (57:52):
Four is going to be
a...
We have a fourth season coming.
They're filming now, which isgoing to be a normal 10-episode
season.
And then they're doing a fifthseason, which I think they said
is...
it'll be six episodes
SPEAKER_01 (58:02):
they better not make
me wait a whole year then
between four and five
SPEAKER_00 (58:06):
um i don't think
they're going to i think i think
that probably if i had to guessi'd say if if they don't film
four and five at the same timethey'll there will be a very
short break and then they'llfilm five i think they will have
it in the can ready to go i
SPEAKER_01 (58:19):
hope so i think and
we know we're getting kirk back
for the finale
SPEAKER_00 (58:23):
yeah because paul
wesley was scheduled to be in
four episodes i mean it might bea wet
SPEAKER_01 (58:27):
if pike has to take
like leave and kirk has to show
up and take over the ship for alittle bit because Pike's
grieving no
SPEAKER_00 (58:33):
I don't think
they're gonna do that
SPEAKER_01 (58:34):
you don't think
they're gonna do that no I don't
know it'll be it'll be I reallyhope that I think my biggest
beef so far with Strange NewWorlds is the premieres always
suck and then like the otherepisodes are great like the
premiere of this one flat thepremiere of that so I'd rather
not have like a major sizzler soI'd rather just kick things off
(58:57):
with a great episode than have apremiere tying up the loose ends
of the previous season because Ithink that works with some shows
and to me it does not work verywell with Star Trek like each
season like I remember seasontwo open and I was like I don't
like season two as much and thenthe next episode was like okay
this is good this one opened andI was like well that after the
long you know wait and then itlike and then again the next
(59:20):
couple episodes were great so Idon't know
SPEAKER_00 (59:23):
yeah I don't think
we're in for another cliffhanger
this year because I do thinkwhen they were filming this
season up in the air as towhether they were getting
another season.
So they probably wrapped it upbetter than they did last.
SPEAKER_01 (59:39):
Well, I'll say my
one hope, which I don't think is
going to happen this season, butI do hope before the show closes
the final curtain that we get awink to McCoy because he's my
favorite from the originalseries.
SPEAKER_00 (59:52):
Yeah, if that
happens, I'll probably know
about it before we watch itThursday.
SPEAKER_01 (59:56):
You didn't know
about Scotty, right?
SPEAKER_00 (59:59):
Scotty's not a big
three.
Okay.
So, like, McCoy.
Obviously, we knew about Apollo.
That's the reason why I watched.
Yeah, perfect example.
We knew about Kirk before seasonone even came out because they
were filming season two.
Because
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:14):
I was like, hey, I'm
going to watch this show with
you because Paul Wesley
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:16):
from the Vampire
Diaries is in it.
And I guarantee you theshowrunners were wanting to keep
that Kirk coming in at the lastepisode of season one a secret,
but they weren't able to do it.
So, again, I think if somebodyhad shown up on set.
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:30):
You can't fool the
vampire.
Empire Diaries fandom when wesee our mans out there.
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:33):
We're going to take
pictures and be like, what is
this?
I think we would have alreadyheard rumblings about McCoy if
he was going to show up.
So I don't think that's going tohappen this year.
I say this season.
Certainly next year.
I
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:42):
said by the end,
before it closes the curtain.
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:46):
Oh, no.
See, I guarantee you the lastshot of this show is going to be
Kirk on the bridge with hisoriginal crew.
I wasn't
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:54):
meaning this season,
Daniel.
I said before it causes itquits, closes the curtain, I
better see McCoy.
And if they do what you'resaying, I will.
All
SPEAKER_00 (01:01:02):
right, let's talk
about belly in Paris.
SPEAKER_01 (01:01:03):
We both said all
right at the same time.
Okay, so for those of you thatare psychopaths, you've already
seen the second to last episodeof The Summer I Turn Pretty.
I, you know, have jobs and Ineed sleep.
And it's not, as I'm recordingthis, it is a Tuesday.
(01:01:25):
So it is not really Wednesday.
So I'm going to talk about theepisode where...
as daniel said belly goes toparis i know this week we have
um an episode 10 and then nextweek we'll have episode 11 which
will be the series finale of thesummer i turn pretty i don't
know why everyone's shocked thatthis was the last season because
(01:01:45):
there are only three books andwe're already like you know at
the point almost where the bookended all right so we have the
fallout from the wedding we havebelly decide she's just gonna
pop off to paris like i'm justgonna get out of paris so it
does remind me all the previewand everything for this episode
remind of me of like Emily inParis which also comes back in
December anyway um Belly at thein that last scene saw Conrad
(01:02:11):
before this episode started shesees him at the airport I don't
know why the gate to Californiais right by the gate to Paris is
that how it is at the Bostonairport I don't know convenient
I thought they might lock eyesthey didn't she sees him and
then thinks about going over anddecides you know what no and I
was like as much as I would haveliked them to look at each other
I was like, good girl.
(01:02:31):
Go get on that plane.
I do have to address Belly'shorrendous travel outfit that
she wore basically the entireday after she arrived in Paris.
Who travels in tight jeans?
That's diabolical.
So uncomfortable.
Would you travel in tight jeansand then walk around with it all
day in Paris?
That's a long flight to be inskin-tight jeans.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:53):
I barely wear jeans
anymore.
I can't do it.
It's too much.
They're rough.
They're hard.
As Marvin says, they're hardpants.
Daddy has the hard pants on.
He knows that if I put the hardpants on, I'm leaving the house,
and he hates it.
And I hate it, to be honest.
I rarely go out in jeansanymore.
They're terrible.
I
SPEAKER_01 (01:03:11):
don't even think I
would wear jeans on a short
flight, let alone a 14-hourflight to Paris.
So I had to get that off mychest.
But ultimately, I was glad thatBelly didn't lock eyes with
Conrad.
The people that thought thatConrad was going to see her and
that he was going to go withher, you guys are insane.
Listen, I am a Bonrad stand.
(01:03:32):
Belly and Conrad they're meantto be.
I also like Conrad but my girlwas just about ready to walk
down the aisle and going aheadeven with Conrad's confession of
love she was like doubling downon it like like Frasier like I
love her.
Like she was going to getmarried.
I feel like if Jeremiah hadn'tbeen like you can't marry me to
erase him I think Belly mighthave just gone through with it.
(01:03:54):
Do I think the marriage wouldhave lasted?
No.
But Belly was in that likelittle almost petulant child
little girl mode like stompingmy foot so we need some time and
I'm seeing like women like myage being like why weren't they
together already oh my god notonly was she about to get
married but the whole likebrother situation of it all like
Belly doesn't know who she isoutside like she was still in
(01:04:18):
high school when she choseJeremiah they got together
they've been together all ofcollege it seemed to me like
once she had her injury couldn'tplay volleyball she's just been
kind of not even she had likeone friend she made in college
like she doesn't know herselfshe needs to learn who she is
outside of these boys so I thinkit's good and in the book she
does that too she goes I thinkit's Spain not Paris in the book
(01:04:39):
but she goes off and she evendates other people she has her
own kind of like life for alittle bit and I think in order
to have that end game meansomething that's what needed to
happen so a lot of people werevery critical of this episode
and I think that some of youguys need to take a breath and
relax to me it really served itspurpose like there was like we
(01:05:02):
just we this could have been anemail we watched belly just
chase her bag around Paris thewhole time because so she does
get to Paris she goes there togo to the program that she had
been accepted to but originallysaid no to because she was going
to stay behind with Jeremiah butthey said they still had a spot
for her well it turns out shegoes there and he's like oh I
looked at the wrong spreadsheetwe don't have a spot for you and
(01:05:24):
I'm like are you serious so shecalls Laurel her mother Laurel
don't even know I thought Laureldid know that belly was going
off to Paris in the laurels likeyou're aware she's like okay
we'll book a flight home i don'tcare she's like go get yourself
a coffee i don't care how muchit costs just come home and
we'll we'll deal with this laterso um belly goes to a coffee
shop like a moron she stands upto go pay for something and
(01:05:46):
leaves her um backpack on thechair and she's got her you know
minuscule teeny tiny little ringfrom jeremiah in there but also
important stuff like herpassport like she was freaking
out about the rain i'm like whatabout your wallet your money
your passport oh my god um Sobut she had the air tags that
Stephen got her for her weddingshower that he acted like a last
(01:06:08):
minute gift.
Those come in handy.
So she sees where her bag is andshe does chase her bag around
the city.
I thought it was a very like anice metaphor like Belly is
finding herself in Paris.
I see what you're doing thereJenny Han.
That is the writer of the booksand also the producer of the
show and I like I thought it waswell done.
I also thought the timing wasreally funny.
Really funny.
Like all the TikToks and memeshave come out about like how you
(01:06:30):
can't pickpocket americansbecause we'll fight back so
belly finds like her bag and theguy like tries to mouth off and
she's just like swings hercarry-on because she still had
that like hits him and it startslike kicking him and is like
give me back my bag and ithought that was great i feel
like in I know we like Conrad, guys, but Belly is the center of
(01:06:53):
the books.
She is, it's her story.
It's not the boy's story.
And that is the most personalitythat I have seen from Belly in
one episode than I have threeentire seasons of the show where
she was on her own.
And I thought it was veryessential to her growth.
And a lot of stuff happened.
So those of you guys that arejust like wanting the Bond
(01:07:13):
writing in game, be patient, myfriends, because I think we're
going to get it.
I was having sympathy forJeremiah during the wedding
episode that went out the windowin just a whoosh he was awful
awful awful like the song manchild was written for Jeremiah
not Jeremiah was a bullfrog likeman Sabrina Carpenter man child
(01:07:33):
might as well be written forthis man he was his behavior was
terrible when he and belly dofinally have a conversation at
the end he was basically likewe'll just come home like we can
be together I'm like what youguys were so mature and she's
like no I can't come home she'slike I think I'm gonna stay I
don't know who I am anymore weneed to find ourselves as people
and he was like well don'teffing call me ever again and I
(01:07:54):
was like oh I know you did notspeak to her like that uh-uh
uh-uh and then of course at theend it showed that a lot of and
the way he spoke to Laurel oh mygosh awful because she went to
go comfort him because you knowkeep in mind he grew up with
Laurel I was almost like being asecond mother to him and he was
just he was just a menace aterrible like I get why he
doesn't want to be around Conradearn beef your brother trying to
(01:08:15):
take a lady like I get it eventhough technically you knew that
she still loved Conrad when youdecide to pursue her in season
two but whatever I was willingto let that go but miserable and
I haven't dated men like that inmy or I guess boys like that in
my past that behaved the sameway Jeremiah did at least they
were like it's still in highschool Jeremiah's like 21 years
(01:08:35):
old or something acting likethat just terrible so if they're
gonna try to they're gonna haveto do a little bit better to
make me sympathize with Jeremiahand care about him going forward
I did like the scene at the endwith Adam that is Conrad and
Jeremiah's dad who who finallydecided to, you know, maybe I
should be a parent and father mykids and, you know, actually,
(01:08:56):
you know, talk to them and be ofan emotional support because
Conrad and Adam, he's like, oh,so did you find Jeremiah yet?
It was, he's like, he says thathe caught off the wedding, but
like, you know, we all know hedid something to screw it up and
Conrad's actually like, no, it'skind of my fault.
And Adam's like, so he tellsAdam about like, he's like, I
told Belly I loved her andAdam's face was hilarious it was
(01:09:20):
like I felt like Adam's like allof us like if you were like a
real person understanding likewhat is going on with my kids
and then you find out that allthis time Adam and Conrad have
more in common than what youwould think I think that
Jeremiah is a lot like Adam andsome of the bad qualities but
the way Conrad deals withconflict is so Adam coded and I
think Conrad realizing that wasa wake up call and I felt like
(01:09:42):
he and his dad had anunderstanding and then Adam
finally goes over to the beachhouse and actually hugs his son
not saying Jeremiah you know Idon't like him I can't stand him
but he's he is going through itand finally they hug and
Jeremiah breaks down crying andit was a good scene just to see
Adam finally be a parent andalso Laurel clocked Adam on his
(01:10:03):
crap I like that and then theykind of had a laugh about it so
that was a positive takeaway andalso Steven and Taylor my
favorite ship of the show I'mputting them over Bond right at
this point finally got backtogether I'm worried they might
have gotten back together toosoon if we have two episodes
left but i'm hoping jenny'sgonna do that ship justice and
it was a really good scenebetween the two of them i feel
(01:10:26):
like they both had a lot ofgrowing up to do and they have
put in the work they're notperfect yet but i think they
they match and i like them and ienjoyed their scene so if
anything getting my staler lovescene back on was good um what
do i think going forward well ithink it's gonna play out a lot
like kind of the book did ithink you're gonna see some more
(01:10:47):
time has passed and that bellywill i think she's gonna We
already know that guy Benito, wesaw him because she meets these
group of people in Paris thathelped her get her bag back.
So I think she will date him.
I think that people need tosettle in because I think the
next episode is going to havesome, you know, belly in Paris,
more about her with her friends.
I think that we are going to getthe letters from Conrad in the
(01:11:08):
book.
He writes her letters.
She doesn't write him back forquite some time.
I think we're going to get that.
My one fear that I have is thatbelly and Conrad are not going
to get back together until thelast two seconds of the finale
and that's going to tick me offbecause basically the book felt
so abrupt it was like oh we'reback together we see Jeremiah
(01:11:30):
like at the wedding he has adate he waves at us and I not
only that I would like to seeJeremiah and Conrad work to
repair the relationship andactually be brothers it doesn't
have to be perfect but I wouldlike to see some communication
and I would like to see a littlebit of build up there's been
some leaks with the actors inParis but there was also a leak
with Jeremiah showing up inParis that we think was put in
(01:11:51):
there to throw us off so I don'tknow if the the timing of the
Conrad and Belly leaks a susmakes me think that they're
extras on sets that know what todo to promote the show because
I'm like why did you guys sit onthis footage and you just now
released it of them filming whenwe've seen the Jeremiah Belly
stuff for like a year please Isee what you're doing producers
(01:12:12):
of this show I respect it butsus they're saying that the
ending is not going to be a neatlittle bow I do not think and
I'm doubling down on this if I'mwrong I'll put the clown makeup
on I don't think Belly's goingto choose herself and that we're
not going to get any resolutionI think ultimately I even think
that if Conrad does come visither that maybe they'll have some
(01:12:33):
fun together and she'll be likeyou know what I'm not ready to
get back together yet and then Ithink we'll I think the end will
still be them together I don't Idon't see an end to this show
without her and Conrad being anend game of some type do I think
they'll get married maybe not Imean they do get married at the
end of the book I think it mightjust be them being together
living together time jump if youwill um jenny said that she
(01:12:56):
doesn't want endings with a neatbow but she wants hope at the
end and i feel like that's howyou give fans hope so um yeah
that's my predictions goingforward i am very excited to see
how this show will wrap up ifthey don't end up being in game
i will be mad though i'll tellyou that right now
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:15):
yeah you'll probably
break the tv if i if any
indication
SPEAKER_01 (01:13:19):
I'm still mad about
another show that I still talk
about.
I had the worst finale ever.
Don't screw me on this.
And don't be like, oh, youalways have the books to read.
No, I want the show.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:28):
Lightning Round.
Last week we talked about thefirst half of the finale of
Bachelor in Paradise.
And then we
SPEAKER_01 (01:13:34):
forgot we were in
the middle of an episode and
recorded a podcast.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:37):
Yeah, so wrap it up
real quick.
What happened?
SPEAKER_01 (01:13:39):
Okay, so they had
basically the shocker was the
money.
You can choose.
Okay, so Kat and Dale had somedrama.
They had like people come backand they could vote for Alex and
Andrew won so they knew theywere going to the finale and
they could vote for anothercouple to join them so it was
between Kat and Dale and excuseme not Alex and Jess Alex and
(01:14:06):
Andrew and then they could voteeither Kat and Dale or Spencer
and Jess and like Sean theParliament of Paradise guy and
Alicia who is giving obsessedwith Dale by the way like Dale
Dale like I say that in thestepbrothers voice you know like
Dale um decide they're like ohKat had a boyfriend like the
whole time before she came hereand tried to bring like all
(01:14:29):
these receipts that like Kat waslike yeah I was like date like
casually dating someone before Icame on the show your point Dale
didn't even care but it was itwas really weird and I felt like
they were trying to like havelike we owned you moment and no
one cared about it um they stilldidn't get voted in but I mean
like Spencer and Jess if I'mgonna pick a solid couple they
were the solid couple so thewhole the twist with the money
(01:14:50):
was though like oh you canchoose the money or you can
choose your person they allchose each other and then they
still ended up getting moneyanyway at the end i would have
like told you i would have beenlike listen let's choose the
money and then just go date thenext day does that make me a
villain or does that make mesmart or would abc have some
kind of clause in the contractthat they if i if they knew i
(01:15:12):
was together with the personthat they would take my money
away i don't know whatever umonly one engagement Spencer and
Jess.
Yes, Spencer and Jess.
A lot of the couples are stilltogether.
Kat and Dale, shockingly, stilltogether.
They seem like they're doingpretty well.
I think they're probably morecasual than not casual that they
(01:15:33):
date other people, but I don'tsee them running down the aisle
anytime soon, which is probablyfor the best.
I watched them on a podcast.
They seem fine.
Spencer and Jess, the onlycouple that did get engaged, I
think they'll be okay.
Alex And Andrew, still together.
Jeremy and Bailey, against allodds, are still together.
(01:15:55):
So this show, we'll see how longthese couples last.
I did not like the format ofthis season.
I missed the Krusty Beach.
I liked the old format.
I thought the money thing, Iwould have rather made it almost
like a Survivor-like thing ifwe're going to do the whole,
like the money twist was justdumb.
I could tell they were trying toget ideas from other shows and
put them into one.
But I'll definitely say with alot of Bachelor in Paradises I
(01:16:19):
think because you spend moretime with the person, the
success rate can be higher onthis show.
And I think maybe we had a lotmore couples still together
because there wasn't thepressure of engagement.
Realistically, even on the mainshow, it's so unrealistic that
you get engaged.
You've known this person for twoweeks.
(01:16:39):
Because even though we watchthese reality shows over a
six-week, seven, eight-weekperiod, they're only on that
beach together for two weeks.
So would you agree with me that, like, not having the emphasis on
engagement was actually good forthe show?
Probably.
If I picked one
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:55):
positive thing,
that's it.
I think it's multiple things.
I think that it's the not focuson engagement.
I think we saw them in eachother's rooms on multiple
occasions, so it seemed likethey were able to hang out.
No more boom-boom.
They were able to hang out moretogether off.
Like, they were never offcamera, but less focused camera
time, which is helpful.
(01:17:15):
So I think a lot of thosefactors played into that.
SPEAKER_01 (01:17:18):
I've been watching.
watching the they didn't do areunion this is where you know
the show's kind of busted theydidn't do an actual reunion show
that like abc aired they did iton the bachelor happy hour
podcast which you could say ohno it's promoting the podcast i
don't think they thought enoughpeople were going to tune into
it so i've been listening tothat um i'm about halfway
through so i'll finish thatlater um bachelor in paradise is
(01:17:40):
usually my favorite but thisseason i would give since we are
going to rate things a scale ofone to ten i would give it a 2.5
and i'm only giving it at 2.5because the addition of the
Goldens they were fun I wish wewould have seen if we had had
more focus on the Goldens Ithink I would have liked it more
but I'm still not going to watchthe Golden Bachelor because that
guy seems stupid and he said hedidn't want anyone under like
(01:18:01):
age 60 my dude you're old rateit Daniel
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:05):
1.347 slowest
slowest lightning round of all
time hey listen so speaking ofcompetition shows Dancing with
the Stars starts next week.
Next week.
Very quickly, one word answer.
Who is your frontrunner?
SPEAKER_01 (01:18:27):
Who is my
frontrunner?
It is Whitney Levitt of theSecret Lives of Mormon Wives and
Mark Ballas, legendarychoreographer, is coming back.
That is my frontrunner.
Who is your frontrunner?
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:38):
I'm picking the
Australia guy.
I don't remember his name.
I don't care.
Robert Irwin
SPEAKER_01 (01:18:42):
and Whitney.
His sister won, Bendy.
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:45):
Okay, there you go.
See, it's in the blood.
SPEAKER_01 (01:18:47):
I also think that
Riley...
and Scott from Pentatonix.
SPEAKER_00 (01:18:50):
I said one word
answers.
SPEAKER_01 (01:18:51):
Sorry, I'm giving
more than a one word answer.
It was never, this is likeCharles Barkley.
He's like, I'm saying threewords and he says like ten
words.
I think, I just have got to saythat I think Riley and Scott
will also be a good pairingbecause I think the Pentatonix
guy is going to dance a lotbetter than people think.
(01:19:12):
But next week we'll talk aboutthe whole cast, what we think
about it because it's not goingto be a Monday night, it's going
to be on Tuesday night so thatcan get you all excited now if
for some reason we peace out anddon't do a podcast next week
because we don't know what'sgoing on we don't know what day
it is we don't know if we mightbe back we might not be back but
eventually we'll talk about ourthoughts on well all the couples
SPEAKER_00 (01:19:33):
and before we go we
just have to again we have to
make a small correctional erroron our postings so I didn't do
it as is tradition occasionallyhope forgets things that she
shouldn't do and she did So sheallowed me last week's episode
where she said, hey, can youtake this picture?
(01:19:54):
And she didn't make the mistakeof having me look up the
picture.
She gave me the picture.
And she said, can you post thison Instagram?
All he has to do is copy theepisode description.
All I have to do is use thepicture that is provided, copy
the episode description from thepodcast backend, put some music
on it, and add hashtags.
SPEAKER_01 (01:20:14):
Maybe a couple
hashtags.
You don't even have to dohashtags if you don't want to.
SPEAKER_00 (01:20:18):
So as you recall, we
did talk about K-pop demon
hunters last week.
And so I thought, well, thatone's, you know, the youths.
They like that one.
I probably should try and find anice...
Hashtag.
And I, you know, anybody whoposts on social knows as you hit
the hashtag button and then youstart typing, it starts
suggesting stuff to you.
Never do the suggested ones.
(01:20:40):
And apparently I learned you donot do the suggestion ones
because instead of K-pop demonhunters, one letter, one letter
off.
I have dyslexia.
I have dyslexia.
It's one letter.
It's one letter.
SPEAKER_01 (01:20:54):
What'd you put
Daniel?
SPEAKER_00 (01:20:57):
K-pop semen hunters.
SPEAKER_01 (01:21:01):
And That's a
franchise we're not going to
talk about ever on this podcast.
