SPEAKER_00 (00:11):
Hey everybody, and
welcome to WeWatch TV.
It is the podcast about the TVthat we watch.
I'm Daniel, she is Hope.
This is episode 120.
SPEAKER_03 (00:21):
So I guess it's
finally fall, sort of, outside.
Feels like it.
Uh not a lot.
Well, there's a lot of stuffgoing on in the world, but in
terms of the We Watch TV podcastcrew, um, I made some show notes
and I had opener question mark.
We don't know what we're gonnatalk about.
(00:41):
But I made sure to make notethat Chili's still slaps is in
the restaurant.
SPEAKER_00 (00:47):
Remains undefeated.
SPEAKER_03 (00:49):
We we could have
been there for like a while.
It'd have been since what, likeJuly?
SPEAKER_00 (00:55):
Um, I at least July,
if not earlier than that.
SPEAKER_03 (00:58):
And it hits.
After a particularly hard week,it hit hard.
And let's just say that thechain restaurants where we are
in our area, they're not dying.
They're not going anywhere awayanytime soon.
We had like a 25-minute waitacross the way, the OGs.
Olive Garden, busy.
Would you say like Logan's wasbusy too?
SPEAKER_00 (01:20):
Yeah, the sickles
over at Olive Garden.
SPEAKER_03 (01:23):
Hey, I like the OGs.
Don't disparage it.
It's not my fault that when wewould go to Olive Garden, you
would get the mixed grillinstead of like actual pasta
that what they're known for, youweirdo.
SPEAKER_00 (01:36):
Uh yeah, I I won't I
will hear no disparagement of
the mixed grill.
It was an excellent meal.
SPEAKER_03 (01:41):
Do you know that I
know somebody that one time um
they thought that Andy's mintsthat you get, which I know you
don't like those because you'reso weird, but they thought that
you could like only get them atOlive Garden.
They didn't think like that.
SPEAKER_00 (01:53):
I probably thought
that at one point in my life.
But I but again I only went toOlive Garden for like when I was
growing up, Olive Garden waslike the fancy place.
SPEAKER_03 (02:00):
Well that was like
our special occasion place too.
SPEAKER_00 (02:02):
Yeah, now you walk
in there and there's people in
sweatpants and because whenyou're here, your family.
SPEAKER_03 (02:09):
All right.
SPEAKER_00 (02:09):
Olive Garden's
basically just takeout for us
now.
If that should that should tellyou the quality of it.
SPEAKER_03 (02:14):
I miss Fizzolis.
Speaking of takeout, like do youremember eating fizzoles all the
time in college?
I love Fizzolis.
Do those still exist?
SPEAKER_01 (02:25):
I don't know.
SPEAKER_03 (02:26):
Internet, weigh in.
Let us know.
Alright, so we have someannouncements.
Because we know it's been uh wehope you enjoyed our and just
like that.
Supercut last week.
But nobody wants this.
Season two is dropping onNetflix this Thursday.
It appears that we're notgetting the dreaded split
season.
(02:46):
So just to remind you guys, thatis the show with Adam Brody and
Kristen Bell.
And it's really funny.
It's basically about a priestthat's dating a what do they
call her in the show?
SPEAKER_00 (02:58):
Like the I want to
say I thought she did a podcast.
SPEAKER_03 (03:02):
Yeah, but should
they call her like there's like
a word they're calling her, likeOh, I have no memory of it.
SPEAKER_00 (03:07):
I don't know.
I barely remember the show.
The only thing I remember fromthis show is my screw up on
social media.
That is the only thing Iremember.
SPEAKER_03 (03:14):
It's like like a
term they refer to as because
she's not Jewish.
And I can't remember what theycalled her in it.
But like, so I like I reallyliked the first season, didn't
you?
SPEAKER_00 (03:25):
Yeah, I thought it
was really good.
Um, I'm worried.
Uh you know, I'm looking forwardto the second season, but
obviously occasionally, or maybemore often than not, one good
season a show that maybe theydidn't necessarily have any
plans for for us extra seasonsends up screwing everything up.
SPEAKER_03 (03:44):
See, I feel like
they did have plans to have an
extra season of this.
SPEAKER_00 (03:47):
Yeah, but it doesn't
feel like they had like like
they didn't cliffhanger you onanything.
SPEAKER_03 (03:51):
I mean, kinda there
was no like sizzler, like, oh my
gosh, we are left in theabsolute unknown, but I think
they have enough material theycan do with season two.
Sure, sure.
I do, I agree.
Because it's about navigatenavigating that relationship
dynamic, like inner faith, likehow they work, family dynamics.
(04:12):
I will say I know there was alot of people last season that
were shipping her sister and hismarried brother, and I think
they're not gonna go in thatdirection and have any type of
affair.
It looks to me like that hiswife is gonna actually start
hanging out with them, which I Iwant to see that dynamic.
SPEAKER_00 (04:30):
Yeah, I I don't
think they really wrote that
dynamic into the show.
I think that was just a uh Ithink that was just a result of
those two actors having reallygood chemistry on screen.
Yeah.
But I don't think that was everthe intent, and I agree.
It shouldn't it shouldn't bepart, it should not be part of
the story.
SPEAKER_03 (04:46):
I agree with that
they had good chemistry, but I
do think there was like not thelike feelings perspective, but a
way like he was he was textingher and not telling his wife who
he was texting.
Right.
I think it's because heconnected to somebody and they
were like being friends, and Ithink they're going to address
that that dynamic is weird, hopefully, and this season.
(05:07):
I'm not saying like men andwomen can't be friends, that's
not what I'm saying.
I'm just saying, and like theway they were doing it like
seemed like kind of shady, youknow what I mean?
SPEAKER_01 (05:16):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (05:17):
Um, but I think we
can all because I was really
worried that they were gonna gooff of like all the fans that
were shipping them and mess itup, and I'm like, no, I don't
want to see like a marriagedestroyed.
I would really like to see hiswife, who has a huge strong
personality, actually hangingout with Kristen Bell and her
sister.
So I am excited for that.
(05:37):
We both really like the firstseason.
If you don't know what Danielwas referring to with his
Instagram screw up, he there wasan episode in season one where
for her podcast, she's apodcaster, she actually makes
money for her podcast.
We don't make any little Caesarssponsor us.
Um they go to like a sex shop, right?
SPEAKER_02 (06:00):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (06:01):
To find some type of
device.
And I was like, I I was textingDaniel the night before, or not
the night before.
SPEAKER_00 (06:08):
Just don't put me in
charge of the Instagram account.
I was telling you, just don't doit.
Like and then you and then youmade the mistake months later
when of the the K-pop demonhunters, you made the mistake of
doing it again, and I messed upagain.
And I promised you everybody,I'm not doing this on purpose.
I'm just bad and not detailoriented when it comes to
posting on social media.
SPEAKER_03 (06:29):
I had told him I was
like, hey, get a picture, just
find a picture of the show.
If nobody wants this, use it.
And then I'm looking at thepicture later and I'm like, of
all the photos, because I did aquick Google image search, I'm
like, you choose the one wherethey have like a wall of you
know devices in the sex store.
(06:49):
Yeah, so it's just you I don'tknow.
The comedy just writes itself, but I'm looking forward to that.
That's a new show.
SPEAKER_00 (06:58):
Sorry, I'm I'm over
here distracted by the way.
I am desperately trying to findwhen we talked about this show
on the podcast.
So if anybody wants to hear seeour season one commentary, they
can get it.
SPEAKER_03 (07:10):
And I am just like I
feel like it was probably last
year, around like August orsomething.
SPEAKER_00 (07:14):
The release date
says September 26th.
SPEAKER_03 (07:16):
Then we probably
talked about it last fall.
SPEAKER_00 (07:18):
And I'm just I'm
failing miserably.
Either that or I or I failed toput it in as our like um into
the show notes or something.
I don't know.
But it's gotta be afterSeptember 28th.
SPEAKER_03 (07:31):
We clearly talked
about it since we used it, the
infamous photo for Instagram.
Right, which number is on therebecause I switched out the
picture.
SPEAKER_00 (07:39):
Yeah, you you she
fixed it.
She she wasn't gonna let thatstand.
So I don't know.
I'll I'll probably like zone outon a conversation here in a
little bit and find it.
And nobody wants this.
There it is.
Episode 84, one ship to doomthem all.
If you want to hear us talkabout the entirety of season one
of nobody wants this, uh go toepisode 84 and you will find
(08:02):
everything that you want.
SPEAKER_03 (08:03):
That must have been
when I tried to watch Reigns of
Power.
SPEAKER_00 (08:06):
It was.
Yeah.
Before I just couldn't.
And it looks like we talked alittle bit like we maybe didn't
do the whole season in thatepisode because it also shows up
in episode 85.
You should see me in a crowd.
SPEAKER_03 (08:20):
Oh, I really miss
Agatha.
Down, down, down, down, down thewitches, down the witch, so,
anyways, we're looking forwardto um Nobody Wants This.
And if you would like to Youknow Down the Witches Row came
on during my run today, by theway.
SPEAKER_00 (08:38):
I'm not surprised.
SPEAKER_03 (08:39):
Interrupt.
SPEAKER_00 (08:40):
Um we are looking
forward to season two of Nobody
Wants This, and if you want tohear our thoughts on season one
to get yourself excited for it,go check out episode 84 and
episode 85 of this very podcastto hear us talk about season
one.
SPEAKER_03 (08:54):
And if you don't
want that, too bad.
It's a good show.
So, also speaking of Netflix, wehave official announcements for
Bridgerton season four.
Once again, the awful dreadedsplit season.
Please rot who's ever makingthese choices at Netflix,
because that means we're gonnaget four episodes and then four
(09:15):
more.
I really think it ruined thepacing of season three.
I hate that, but at least we'refinally getting some Bridgerton
back in our life.
It's gonna be Benedict andSophie.
We're basically the Cinderellatype of season.
Can I ask you a question realquick?
SPEAKER_00 (09:29):
Oh my gosh, what how
many times have you watched
season three?
SPEAKER_03 (09:32):
So many.
More.
I've watched season two a bunchtoo.
Season one is the one that Irewatch the least.
There's like a huge argument inthe br and I just really think
it depends on what type of tropeyou like.
Whereas I watched season one.
I did watch season one in a day.
I really liked it.
That would be it's not my leastfavorite in the book series, but
it's like probably like mysecond least favorite.
(09:53):
I find that that season to bethe most boring in comparison,
just because it's like therewasn't a lot.
I mean, like they had like thewe're fake dating, now we're
together, and the whole like hedidn't want kids and some stuff.
And I did think those actors hadgood chemistry, but like even in
season one, before I read thebooks, I was like, I really like
Anthony Bridgerton.
(10:15):
And then I read book two, uh,The Viscount Who Loved Me or
something.
I think that's what it's called.
And it's my favorite of theseries because I do love me and
good enemies to lovers.
Vicker won't be home for hours.
Shut up.
And so that and then likeromancing Mr.
Bridgerton, which is technicallybook four.
So I don't know why they gave itthey did the Pollen season in
(10:36):
three, but I think it's becausewe had seen those characters of
Colin and Penelope, and peoplewanted that.
Um, that was my second favoritebook.
So I really there was a periodof time where I was re-watching
season two all the time.
I probably am now caught up withit with season three, but yeah,
I think you know, like the otherweek I was re-watching it again,
and you're like, You're watchingthis again?
Like, yes.
SPEAKER_00 (10:55):
This is what I'm
subjugated to, everyone.
SPEAKER_03 (10:58):
You're not up here
watching it with me.
SPEAKER_00 (11:00):
That means I'm not
watching something with you
because I'm not watching thatwith you.
SPEAKER_03 (11:04):
I've asked you so
many times, you want to find
something to watch, and you'relike, no, I want to play my
game.
SPEAKER_00 (11:08):
I said I want to
watch the chair company.
SPEAKER_03 (11:10):
I don't want to
watch the chair company.
Okay.
Alright, so part one ofBridgerton drops January 29th,
2026.
I can't believe it's gonna be2026.
And part two drops February26th.
I think we already talked aboutEmily, Emily, Ross wants you.
Emily in Paris.
I don't even remember whatseason it is for her.
(11:30):
That's coming back.
Is it coming back in December?
I think it is.
unknown (11:35):
I have to do that.
SPEAKER_03 (11:36):
That's what your
show notes that you wrote.
SPEAKER_00 (11:39):
So I'm not gonna
argue or the show notes.
SPEAKER_03 (11:42):
I feel like we did
talk about this already, and I
was like, why are they bringingso many things back in December
when that's Christmas time?
Like, give me more.
Like, I'm glad that Bridgertonis giving us stuff in January
and February, and we need stuffto fill the winter void.
Also, coming back for seasontwo, finally, I know we've
announced it is Percy Jackson,Disney Plus.
(12:03):
That's also in December,correct?
SPEAKER_01 (12:06):
Uh yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_03 (12:07):
Do we have an
official date?
Because I just kept seeingsometime in December.
SPEAKER_00 (12:11):
If we have one, I
have one, it's not written down.
Yeah, I I have no idea.
SPEAKER_03 (12:15):
Again, we don't make
money off this podcast.
SPEAKER_00 (12:18):
It's only a loser.
SPEAKER_03 (12:21):
All right, so that's
some of our show announcements
of things coming up.
Which is good because a lot ofour stuff is winding down, and I
feel like we're sort of in thatlol.
But you know, never fear.
We'll talk about it soon.
We'll have our hallmarkChristmas season.
It's almost Christmas, guys.
I have I have something to sayabout that.
(12:41):
And I probably already said this50 times on this podcast.
November 1st is when the holidayseason officially kicks off.
Just because you decorate forChristmas early, watch stuff
early, does not mean you forgetThanksgiving.
I don't know who electedthemselves the unofficial
holiday police in this world, but mind your business.
(13:01):
Um, it's just that Thanksgivingis a fun time during the holiday
season.
Thank you enough.
SPEAKER_00 (13:10):
Here's the only
thing I'll say to that.
And this isn't a criticism ofyou or Christmas people.
This is a criticism ofcapitalism at its core.
I have been able to buyChristmas stuff in the stores
for two weeks.
SPEAKER_03 (13:22):
Okay, well, I just
not just on Christmas.
SPEAKER_00 (13:27):
Yeah, I said it's
not of Christmas, it's not of
Christmas people, it's ofcapitalism in general.
Stop it.
I don't need to buy Halloweendecor on the 4th of July.
SPEAKER_03 (13:37):
I mean, I wouldn't
have gotten that really cute
shirt at Disney that's been soldout on the website if I didn't
buy it says let's go ghouls, andit's got like the characters in
their Halloween outfits, if Ididn't buy it on like July 5th.
So But yeah, I I saw a TikTokthe other day that said they
were already somebody's seenValentine's Day stuff in stores
already.
(13:57):
Like what like like Walmart's- Ifeel like Christmas always gets
that's why I'm gettingdefensive.
I feel like Christmas alwaysgets blamed for this when
literally, and I'm glad youpointed out that Halloween stuff
wasn't.
SPEAKER_00 (14:08):
It happens with all
the other ones too.
It's like, but right nowWalmart, like half the Halloween
section is gone, and they'realready got the Christmas stuff
up, and Halloween hasn't evenhappened yet.
Like, I'm it's it's crazy.
Like just the way they're theypre-planned for this stuff.
SPEAKER_03 (14:23):
It is not a day, it
is a season.
SPEAKER_00 (14:25):
I agree with that.
But but so why are we like whatI just why but July?
I'm not the I'm July 4th is likethe least Halloween I've ever
had in my mind.
SPEAKER_03 (14:36):
July 5th is when I
start dreaming about the Burr
months, and I'm so ready, so uhit's uh anyways.
SPEAKER_00 (14:44):
Happy Valentine's
Day, everybody.
SPEAKER_03 (14:48):
Okay.
Let's get into some shows.
Alright, so just a friendlyreminder that we are a spoiler
podcast.
So check those little chaptermarkers that we put in.
If you are wanting to avoid aparticular spoiler, go ahead and
skip to the next show.
(15:09):
We wrapped up Peacemaker seasontwo.
The I would say the seasonfinale, probably the series
finale from what the people aresaying.
That is the DC comic show byJames Gunn, who is now, I
believe, the head of DC, and itairs.
I I still don't know.
Is it called HBO?
Is it called Max?
(15:30):
What is it?
HBO Max.
I'd have to call that.
SPEAKER_00 (15:33):
I haven't checked
today to see what's going on.
SPEAKER_03 (15:34):
They changed the
logo all the time, they change
the colors.
No one knows what to call it.
SPEAKER_00 (15:39):
Did see Apple TV
changed their name?
SPEAKER_03 (15:41):
What are they called
now?
SPEAKER_00 (15:42):
Apple TV, which is
what I've been calling them all
along.
SPEAKER_03 (15:44):
Weren't they like
Apple TV Plus or something
still?
SPEAKER_00 (15:46):
It's like that's so
stupid.
So I'm they actually that's agood change.
But yeah, HBO, I'd have tocheck.
Um, I have to, you know, put myfinger up in the air in the wind
and see which way the wind isgoing to tell you which what
what that HBO app is right now.
SPEAKER_03 (15:59):
I feel like that's
the one that always changes.
SPEAKER_00 (16:01):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (16:01):
Constantly.
SPEAKER_00 (16:02):
I think at this
point they're leaning into the
change because I've seen theirtheir social media marketing has
always been been making fun ofthemselves.
So I don't know.
But yes, James Gunn is in chargeof the James Gunn is the Kevin
Feige of the DCU for the timebeing.
Um we'll see what happens withthat.
SPEAKER_03 (16:19):
That's the biggest
miss that Marvel's ever done.
SPEAKER_00 (16:22):
Well, the it if
Paramount purchases them,
they've basically said JamesGunn is out.
And that'll be stupid.
SPEAKER_03 (16:29):
Well, I mean,
considering how stupid the
Paramount Plus app is, it justseems like another monumental,
dumb decision.
Uh, but let's get into it.
Peacemaker, season two wrappedup.
The internet is split as usualon what they thought of
everything.
SPEAKER_00 (16:47):
You know, here at We
Watch TV podcast, I don't care
what the internet thinks.
What did you think?
Okay, well, first off, do youwant to kind of refresh how I
mean to surmise the season, youknow, Chris, Peacemaker played
by John Cena, found a portalinto other universes.
He found his way into a universethat seemed really nice.
(17:10):
His dad was alive and nice, hisbrother was alive.
Um, Harkour seemed to like him.
He wound up killing his theversion of himself from that
universe, and then over thecourse of the season, takes
place there.
All that happened, and then youknow, he finds out it's not
actually that good of auniverse.
(17:31):
It's universe it's universe X,Earth X, Earth X, which is from
the DC universe.
SPEAKER_03 (17:36):
It's basically like
if the Nazis won World War II.
SPEAKER_00 (17:38):
World War II, yeah.
It's a very you know whitesupremacist culture, and so his
friends come to save him, theyget into all that shenanigans
and stuff, and he comes back, and when he comes back, he gives
um Rick Flag Sr.
the portal and says, My friendsdidn't have anything to do with
this, take me away.
And so the whole finale is justbasically him trying to escape
(18:01):
his friends because he hasconvinced himself that he is a
bad luck on his friends.
Everybody he loves, you know, has meets a poor ending and hits
his friends coming to rescue himand say, That's not true.
Everybody can change.
You know, they pulled a Rocky 4,everybody can change.
I was about to say that.
And um and then they go and theythey start um, which this is
(18:24):
apparently a big thing in DCU.
The the checkmate, is that whatit was called?
Yes.
And so the episode ends, we getthe song, we get the foxy jam
horror song, and it's great, andit's a montage, and everybody's
having a great time.
Then we pause it for some reasonbecause we needed to like you
know get up and use the bathroomor something, and it's like, why
(18:46):
are there 15 minutes left inthis episode?
And that's because after all ofthat fun, good times ends, then
Rick Flag Jr.
comes, abducts Peacemaker RickFlag Sr.
comes, abducts Peacemaker, throws him into this new um
portal world that they foundwhere there's nobody at, and
he's their test subject becausethat's where he wants to throw
(19:06):
all the meta-humans.
SPEAKER_03 (19:07):
Yes.
SPEAKER_00 (19:08):
And leaves him
there.
SPEAKER_03 (19:09):
Okay, so that's a
pretty good little wrap-up.
Um Yeah, I thought that it likea lot of people I've really
found out seem to not likeseason two as much as season
one.
I actually thought that bothseasons were very good.
I think it's hard to comparebecause I because I watched
them, I I didn't have the longwe didn't have the long wait
(19:31):
between the seasons.
So it to me it almost just feelslike a continuation, which it
is.
I am somebody who doespersonally like character-driven
storylines, and I do think thisseason was more character
driven.
I'd say the one thing I wish Ithink we could have done a
couple more episodes tacking onthere, so we could have spent it
some there was some more time inEarth X.
(19:53):
Um, I felt like they kind of Imean a lot went down in that
episode, but I feel like theykind of sewed some stuff up.
Um, we obviously know that hisbrother is presumed alive still
in Earth X.
I would have liked to seen hehit it and quit it with a
hardcourt version in Earth X.
I would have liked it, and therewas no like conversation.
I would have personally liked toseen that because I and if I'm
(20:14):
like regular hardcourt, I thinkI would have been a little upset
about that.
Like you just like slept withthis woman that looks like me
but is not me to fill the void.
Like, that's weird.
So if we're talking aboutcharacter-driven things, I would
I've to me that is characterdriven.
I would have liked to have seena little bit more with that, but
you know.
SPEAKER_00 (20:33):
I think they glaze I
think some of the glazing over
of like the him just seeing theflag that had that certain um
symbol on it symbol on it.
I think in my mind, you we glazeover any relationships in that
universe going forward due tobasically everybody being
completely, you know, on boardwith that ideology to say, oh
(20:56):
well, we're gonna drop thesepeople because like of that.
SPEAKER_03 (21:00):
Yeah, it would have
just been the thing is like we
should like his dad, was his dadreally better in that world?
I don't know.
I I think that you could relatethat as some people make that
excuse now.
Right.
Like I'm just doing the best Ican, whereas like the Adrian of
that world was fighting againstit.
So I think that's a whole otherdebate.
But then you could go back tosay, like, that hardcore, if
(21:21):
that's all she has known and shewas doing her job, maybe she
doesn't necessarily believethose things.
That's just what the societythat she's been in.
So it really you could reallydive really deep into that and
really go into acharacter-driven thing.
SPEAKER_00 (21:33):
But that being said,
um, they probably had a certain
number of episodes they had todo, so they had to get out of
there and I mean James Gunn isin charge of the DCU.
He's the guy that sets how manyepisodes there are.
If he wanted to make moreepisodes, he could have just
made more episodes.
SPEAKER_03 (21:48):
Unless HBO slash Mac
slash whatever slash whatever
said no more.
SPEAKER_00 (21:53):
I do agree with you
that the I think we could have
used one more episode.
The wrap-up of the Earth Xstoryline into the finale, which
we're talking about today, wasabrupt.
SPEAKER_03 (22:03):
Now, that being
said, we could always revisit
Earth X in future DC projects.
He's kind of hinted at that.
I personally was totally finethat we didn't have a big cameo.
If you're gonna have a cameo oflike Superman, which I think it
would have been like the versionof Superman that would have been
in Earth X, I think that was asclose as we could have gotten.
I knew once we were out of therethat wasn't happening.
(22:24):
I think Lex Luthor made sense tobe the big cameo because of the
whole portal thing.
They definitely were pulling alittle bit of a Marvel.
I can say that.
They were relying on you to haveha watched Superman to kind of
know what was going on.
Right.
I mean, a little bit, like, which we got away with it.
I had to look some stuff up.
Um, they kind of wanted you torewatch like I I actually
(22:46):
watched some YouTube videosafter this season to really see
the Rick Flagg Jr.
Right peacemaker scenes becausewe had not seen uh the Suic uh
neither either of the SuicideSquad movies.
So I but I felt like this theyreally wanted to make sure that
hey, you've watched Superman andthey s I think they like we're
there's gonna be the GreenLantern show, which I'm not
(23:09):
really into that, but I willwatch for Clear Eyes, Full
Hearts Can't Lose, KyleChandler, also known as Coach
Eric Tyler from Friday NightLights, he's gonna be one of the
leads in it, right?
Yeah, he's a Green Lantern.
So I think we're gonna seepeople from Peacemaker in that.
They've already confirmed thatwe're gonna see Adrian in
Supergirl?
Is that what we're gettingSupergirl next summer?
SPEAKER_00 (23:32):
Yes, 2026, yes, and
then man of tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03 (23:35):
Do we think we see
any of these characters in
Supergirl?
SPEAKER_00 (23:37):
I don't think so.
Maybe some of the Green Lanternsbecause of that space, but
everybody says this is gonna belike a Guardians of the Galaxy
kind of situation where shebecause because if you remember
when she comes in at the end ofSuperman, she's been away and
she's coming back.
So I think I I I don't thinkwe're gonna get a lot, but maybe
some of the Green Lanterns willsee some of them, but I don't
(23:59):
think we'll see a lot of thepeople going on on Earth.
I do think there's a chance thelanterns show that that
Peacemaker we find him there.
Yeah.
Because I think the story thatwe left with Peacemaker Season
2, and I'm starting to thinkthat we need to stop thinking
about it as so much ofPeacemaker Season 1, Peacemaker
(24:21):
Season 2, and be think of theWanda Agatha thing.
Right, exactly.
Is that that I think each showis going to just continue to
tell a story, and the charactersthat need to be there to show up
for that story are gonna showup, and so we might not see the
whole team at Checkmate, youknow, all the 11th Street kids,
but some of them are gonna showup here and there, right, and do
(24:42):
stuff, and so I do think that'show I think that's how James
Gunn's gonna go forward withthis.
SPEAKER_03 (24:46):
And I would have, I
think I wouldn't have been as
like I wouldn't have been likeuh about the sizzle if I knew I
was getting a season three ofPeacemaker, because my thing is
is I know we're gonna see thesecharacters show up in random
places, but my favorite partabout this show is the 11th
Street kids together, the team, the units, and I'm not sure
(25:07):
we're gonna get to see that allagain.
That being said, um, I think Iam on the side of I did like the
finale.
I I I mean, I was if we couldhave just cut the show when it's
all we end with the performingcheckmate.
Um, one of the things wenoticed, we finally got the
flashback of what happened withHarcourt and Chris, and really
it was just like they had atouching moment, but they
(25:29):
didn't, there was no likecooking up or anything like
that.
They just realized, you know, they're into each other.
Can I just say that I noticedI'm I I was the bigger nerd than
you?
Of course.
I can't believe this.
SPEAKER_00 (25:41):
This is a common
occurrence, folks.
SPEAKER_03 (25:42):
So they're going to
a fat, not a common occurrence,
it's becoming more common.
They're going to a fast foodplace, and I'm like big belly
burger.
I'm like, that's a DC thing,because that's what they would
eat there in the flash all thetime.
The on the show, which theflash, those first couple
seasons of The Flash on the CWwere great.
Once they got to the crisisepisodes, it kind of fell off.
But the you have to admit it,those first few seasons of The
(26:04):
Flash on the CW, that was goodTV.
SPEAKER_00 (26:08):
Yeah, they should
have ended that show after the
crisis on Infinite Earth becausethat was what they had been
leading the story up to thewhole point.
SPEAKER_03 (26:13):
I was like, pause
the show.
I was like, Big Badly Burger.
I was like, that's like a DCthing.
I'm like, you don't recognizethis?
And you're like, what?
And then like half the time Istart like making a map in my
head, and I'm like, okay, whereare all these places located?
I was like, we've got Evergreen,Metropolis, Gotham, and I'm like
trying to like figure outgeographically how far in
(26:34):
Central City, that's for theflash, where they all go.
And Daniel's looking at me like, what are you doing?
I'm like, I am what you made me.
SPEAKER_00 (26:40):
Listen, I love a
good map, but like it's just the
United States, and they've justreplaced cities in the United
States with these cities, andlike I'm sure somebody on the
internet.
I'm sure so yeah, I'm suresomebody on the internet has put
them in the spot they'resupposed to be in, and you could
just go look at it.
SPEAKER_03 (26:54):
Well, it was just I
like to see, like, because they
the way Evergreen just seems sodifferent than the other cities.
So I was I was very into that.
Um but really like they had uhNelson, the band.
Yeah.
They had them on.
SPEAKER_00 (27:08):
You got way more
excited about that than I ever
expected you to.
I don't even considering Iwouldn't have known who Nelson
was.
SPEAKER_03 (27:17):
I know you're not.
SPEAKER_00 (27:18):
Without you going,
Nelson! It's Nelson That's
actually Nelson!
SPEAKER_03 (27:22):
Okay, do you want to
know how I know Nelson?
SPEAKER_00 (27:24):
Sure.
SPEAKER_03 (27:25):
So you know how I'm
a night owl.
Picture this sitting on my couchand my old house that I grew up
in downstairs in the basement.
I'm watching TV.
We don't have streaming stuff,so I'm just watching the TV,
watching stuff late nightinfomercials, infomercials for
CDs and stuff would featureNelson and they had the long
blonde hair.
That's how I know Nelson.
(27:46):
That's also how I know becauseI'm your lady.
You know when you fall asleep orand wake up to that at like
three in the morning.
SPEAKER_00 (27:56):
Yeah, I I agree.
I I've I liked this episode.
I thought it was really good.
Let me hit you with something.
Let me let me let me let methrow this throw this at you
because I've been thinking aboutit, and this makes absolutely
zero change to how the episodeactually goes.
Okay.
What if after the Foxy's a jamsong and the montage and the
(28:19):
team is all together and theyestablish Checkmate and
everything is happy and we'reall happy, it fades to black,
and you hit they hit you withcredits, and then the
post-credits is the scene is isexactly the same that we saw
when Rick Flag Sr.
comes and takes Pace MakePeacemaker away.
Would that change your feelingsof how how that was framed in
any way?
(28:40):
That it was more thing.
Because I I was just watching amovie.
I liked the episode.
I thought it was so did I Ithought it was a great
resolution to the story thatthey'd been telling.
I did feel that that scene atthe end was kind of an abrupt
way to end the the show, and itand it and for some reason in my
(29:01):
mind it feels like if they hadput it in as a post-credits, it
would have felt less something.
I don't know.
SPEAKER_03 (29:08):
So even though the
exact same storyline would be
happening, I see what you'resaying.
Because maybe I feel like apost-credit shows you that more
time has passed.
I could have reveled I believethey want you to infer that some
time has passed to set up.
SPEAKER_00 (29:22):
I could have
reveled, like I could have
reveled in the credits becausewe always watch the credits
because he always puts somethingat the end.
I could have seen all of thatthing take place and all that
resolution to these characterscome to place and they're all
happy, and I'm like, yes.
And then I could have had, youknow, a minute of credits
rolling before I had to seethem.
SPEAKER_03 (29:47):
One could say I'm
the problem.
SPEAKER_01 (29:49):
Maybe, yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_03 (29:50):
Possibly, possibly.
Um, I I also looked up thecheckmate theme for you.
I was like, oh, a lot of fanswere always really happy about
this.
And as a book reader, which Iknow.
That's not the same as comics.
I always love when you can givesome winks to the book readers.
So I'm happy for the comic fans, especially God knows the DC
comic boys have been through it.
Oh, they've been through it.
Garbage franchise while Marvel'sbeen out there.
(30:12):
And I feel like with Superman,this, they're finally, it's
fine, they're finally beingrewarded for their fandom.
So good on them.
Um, I think my favorite scenefrom the finale, other than the
whole music video montage, wasAdrian and um Don, not Don
Cheadle.
I'm doing it again.
I'm doing it again.
(30:32):
I'm doing it again.
Tim Matthews, right?
That's his name.
Tim Meadows.
Tim Meadows.
I don't know.
Tim Meadows going.
SPEAKER_00 (30:39):
You have Tim Meadows
blindness.
unknown (30:41):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (30:42):
Bird blindness with
your Pokemon.
And it's like, so they'realready working at Checkmate.
They're sitting beside eachother, and he's like, quiz me on
spider facts.
Because you know that Aja Gunloves him to be quizzed on some
animal facts.
And he's like, they they makemilk.
They have tiny udders.
Really?
Can't you buy it?
Yeah, you can buy it at WholeFoods.
And they're just those two.
(31:04):
Oh, and then my other favoritemoment from the finale was
Economos and Eagly.
Eagly put his little wane andkind of gave him a hug because
he had been taking care of them.
SPEAKER_00 (31:15):
That's the stuff
that makes you disappointed
there's not going to be a directseason three because then now
you it's not just the old team, but now we've added members that
we like to the new team to theold team, and you would love to
see those people have a littlebit more screen time.
And I'm not saying they won't,but it it definitely was kind of
like a like a melancholy feelingof like, oh, I really like
(31:36):
everything they've done here, but now this is it.
I don't get to see anymore.
SPEAKER_03 (31:39):
I'm all about the
team chemistry, and I just don't
think we're gonna get all thosecharacters at time.
I think we're supposed to inferthat they create a checkmate,
they did good, they're allconnected, and they all probably
get together, you know,off-screen whenever they find
Peacemaker from whatever thatworld is.
So yeah, that I I would say myonly other thought from that
(32:02):
season was that my opinion onJohn Cena as an actor has
totally changed after watchingPeacemaker.
It's not that I thought he's abad actor, but he just kind of
like would be like the funny guyand play the same character in
movies and stuff that I had seenhim in, and I feel like he
really showed his range.
So I agree.
SPEAKER_00 (32:19):
I I I'm I I honestly
look forward to seeing him in
more things.
He he he retired from uhwrestling a couple a couple
weeks ago.
Okay, which means he's now gonnabe able to give his body a
little bit of a break and nothave to be so like so completely
balked up.
And so I really do think like Ithink he's got a bright career
(32:40):
in acting, and I look forward toseeing what he does because I
think I I think I was impr I wasin season one, I was impressed,
but like the stuff he did inseason two, particularly like
that scene with his brother atthe you know at the end of the
Earth X storyline wasimpressive.
SPEAKER_03 (32:54):
Alright, well, let's
move on from Peacemaker.
If those of you use those littlehandy dandy chapter markers,
welcome back to Only Murders inthe Building, the show we both
love, we both enjoy everyepisode, and then completely
forget about when we have totalk about it on the street.
I don't even know what day theshow airs.
It's forgettable.
(33:14):
It comes out on Tuesdays, butwe've got Dancing with the Stars
all Tuesdays.
So we usually watch it onWednesdays.
So we have watched since we lastchatted two episodes, Silver
Alert, The Mare Warns the Trioabout the billionaires, sending
them to investigate further at avillainous lair upstate as
Oliver boots it at an boots itin an attempted escape.
(33:39):
IMDB do better with thisdescription.
And then we also watched episodeeight.
Mabel gathers a ragtag group tocash crash an exclusive ladies'
night while trying to save theArconia, that is their building,
the only murders in thebuilding, from being sold.
Charles and Oliver accidentallyend up going to couples therapy.
(33:59):
So at this point, I believe wehave how many episodes left?
Two episodes to go.
I have no idea who the murdereris.
And I really love watching OnlyMurders in the Building.
I love it.
I'm in a good mood when we watchit, but this season, it's just I
(34:20):
watch it and it flies out of mybrain and I forget about it.
What about you?
SPEAKER_00 (34:24):
Yeah, I think I just
don't know.
SPEAKER_03 (34:26):
I have no theories.
SPEAKER_00 (34:29):
I wager to say that
it's lost a little bit of the
magic, but not the magic thatkeeps us watching.
Yeah.
The magic that keeps us watchingis those three lead actors and
how good they are together.
And we will continue to sit downand watch it over and over and
over again because it'sentertaining.
But the murder mystery side andall and the the the playfulness
(34:50):
around like the podcast and allthat kind of stuff has, I think,
like suffered and waned a littlebit in storytelling.
And it's like the la the teaseat the end of the last episode
is like, oh, we had a birdcamera and that that the tech
billionaire couldn't manipulate, and therefore now we see the new
Dorman came and picked up themurder weapon, and and it's
(35:11):
like, oh, so we are just peg andI don't think it's gonna be the
doorman.
I think he had a hand involved, but I don't think he did the
murder, but it's like too soon.
It's just okay.
SPEAKER_03 (35:20):
I well, we have the
episode where they went to the
mansion, and somehow thatmansion barely any security, and
they get in and they find themall together, like with a
supposed game night, and laterby the end of that, it is
revealed that Renee Zellweger'scharacter, that is like the what
is her name?
SPEAKER_00 (35:40):
Like Cam Camilla,
whatever.
I don't know.
She's like red.
SPEAKER_03 (35:44):
She wants to buy the
Arconia, turn it into a casino.
That is the plan.
I guess there's no casinos inNew York City.
I I wasn't aware of that.
Um, and that's what they want todo.
And because they already had thewhole underground casino that
was discovered in the Arconia.
So that's why she she's actuallythe one that offered to buy
Oliver's apartment.
She's been buying up all ofthem, and I believe the most
(36:06):
previous episode showed um thereason why they were in couples
therapy is they were trying toget that guy, that's a
therapist, to not sell, but thenthey finished their session,
they went over on their session, and he didn't have time to like
reverse the sale.
So they have that whole plot.
I somehow think that it'll theday will be saved, and because
(36:28):
the Arconius is much of a setpiece in that series.
Um, I agree with you.
I still I don't think we're anycloser to knowing who Lester is.
If it turns out to be Mabel'sfriend, the I'm gonna be so
irritating.
SPEAKER_00 (36:40):
I said that in the
last episode, but with no
evidence whatsoever.
Um so I don't know.
SPEAKER_03 (36:45):
I'm I'm I wish I had
more to say about it because I
love each episode when we watchit.
And I just I think it's becauseyou're right, because the
mystery is not at the forefrontfor me.
And they're they'reintentionally, I feel like the
first two seasons, they reallydropped those clues and they
wanted you to piece it together.
This one, they're definitelytrying to make it so you don't
guess it.
And like I said, we're gonnashow up, we're gonna watch it,
(37:07):
we're gonna have fun, but I justdon't care about this mystery
yet.
SPEAKER_00 (37:12):
I don't, and I'm
also gonna be uh they've already
done it a little bit, and I hopethey don't do more of it, but
they've also they've got thethree billionaires who've been
in and out of being suspects, right?
Yes.
And I think right now they'rekind of we know they know
something, but we don't thinkthey are necessarily the
billionaires.
And they've definitely done itwith Renee Zellwigger's
(37:32):
character, and they've done itwith the mob guys, like husband.
If you've done it with theyounger uh two, I really don't
want to see them go sympatheticon these characters.
SPEAKER_03 (37:44):
Me either.
SPEAKER_00 (37:44):
Um I'm I don't think
they're the murderers, but I do
not I I'm not here for asympathetic billionaire
storyline.
I'm sorry.
It's just the wrong um It's notthe right vibe.
It's the wrong century, wrongdecade, wrong year for sympathy
for billionaires.
SPEAKER_03 (38:00):
I will say that um
any episode Meryl streeps in,
she's she steals the show forthe whole ladies' night thing.
She's like, I'm going to cosplayas my old roommate, Celerie.
And I'm going to because I'm apsychic.
And I just the more that we Ilike that character, I like her
acting.
I feel like only Meryl can actbad, but it's still good.
(38:25):
So I I know that she and I lovethat she's come back to do
multiple seasons of the show.
Because that's usually not hervibe.
Like she was always notoriousthat she didn't do sequels and
movies.
Right.
And you can tell I think shejust has a good time coming in
and filming stuff, and and itworks for me.
Um, but yeah, I don't have muchelse to say for only murders,
because I have no idea whokilled Lester.
(38:46):
Don't know where they're goingwith it.
Um but I I I look forward to thejourney, I guess.
I want Jan to show up though, one time.
SPEAKER_00 (38:57):
I thought they were
gonna do it, but then the dating
what was the name of the datingapp that that Charles was using?
Um it turned out to be the buildone of the rich billionaires, so
yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (39:08):
Alright, so we also
have Abbott Elementary season
five.
Um, the first, I think wealready talked about the first
episode.
I watched episode two withoutyou.
This is a show that just youcome and go in and out of.
But we did recently watchepisode three, and I was excited
to watch this one because Iremember seeing the um pictures
that they released over thesummer.
(39:29):
They filmed at the fill at aPhillies game.
So because they're inPhiladelphia, I love how
connected they make sure, likethey've brought a lot of like
the Eagles.
I think like Jalen Hurts, uhJason Kelsey, when he was still
in the Eagles, have come in todo episodes, but they had the
whole thing of them like at thegame and the Philly fanatic.
What is up with Philly andthey're weird mascots?
SPEAKER_00 (39:49):
I don't know.
Other like the Eagles have theEagle, and that's fairly
standard.
But the the hockey team thehockey team and the baseball
team, those are strange, thoseare strange mascots.
SPEAKER_03 (40:02):
Very weird.
SPEAKER_00 (40:03):
Listen, folks, I'm
I'm a Cleveland Browns fan, so
you didn't have a mascot.
SPEAKER_03 (40:07):
I guess you have
like an elf.
SPEAKER_00 (40:08):
We have an elf and a
dog.
So I'm not saying I'm not sayingthat that there's anything wrong
with it, but these are likestraight up Muppet weird
characters, and I don't I don'tlike it.
They're beloved accordingapparently, so I get it,
whatever, but it's just it'skind of weird.
They're kind of weird looking.
SPEAKER_03 (40:26):
Kyle Schorber was in
the episode.
I felt like so.
There's this point where Barb'slike, I know him, I know him.
I'm gonna I'm gonna say allthese things if I get to meet
him, and then they do get tomeet him because Janine got hit
in the head by baseball.
So I feel like when I so let mewalk y'all back in time.
SPEAKER_00 (40:44):
Oh, she's gonna brag
about her.
SPEAKER_03 (40:46):
I am a Pittsburgh
Pirates fan, for better or
worse.
We had three three good years ofmy life.
I got to see those what what atime, what a time.
But I won a contest um throughTwitter.
I'm still gonna because that'swhat it was called back then.
Um to win a it was I got to sitin the suite, I got to bring one
guest, I brought Daniel, ofcourse.
(41:08):
Uh get free food all night long.
Perfect.
It kind of ruined baseball forme because it was so nice
sitting in that suite.
It was so awesome.
But I also we got to go to uhpractice and we got to meet the
manager who that was ClintHurdle at the time.
I wonder what he's up to thesedays.
And then we got to meet StarleneMarte, who played for the
Pirates, and you said you'dnever see me like completely
(41:31):
clam up.
Like they're coming over to me.
I don't even remember what Idid.
I know I he signed my ball, Iknow we got a picture.
I know, like, I I think I saidhi to him, but you were like, oh
my gosh, that was you, the wayBarb like clammed up.
Like, what did I do?
I think I just was smiling.
SPEAKER_00 (41:46):
It's just weird to
me because you're the person who
like can talk to anybody if youneed to.
If if the situation arises and aconverse in a in a small talk or
some sort of conversation has totake place, like I can talk the
way you're the person who's notgonna make it awkward while I
stand there and somebody goes, says something to me, and I go,
Yeah.
And just continue my blank stareoff into space.
(42:06):
You can actually sometimes do onthis podcast.
You can actually make mall talkand all that stuff.
But in this situation, you justwas like, he walked over and was
like saying hi and signingstuff, and you were just like, I
was like the kid, I like Santa.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, right?
Like, like, or no, you were youknow you were Ralphie.
You get to Santa Claus, you'relike, a football! Yeah, that's a
big like what?
(42:28):
And then and then I'm justsitting here looking at you
because like you know, I'myou're like, do you want to take
a picture with Pope?
SPEAKER_03 (42:34):
Right.
SPEAKER_00 (42:34):
And so it was very
strange.
SPEAKER_03 (42:36):
I was very excited.
Uh they did the would you everdo um to get Jacob to shut up
because he was being annoying?
Uh Melissa had him do the nine, what is it the nine nine nine
channel?
SPEAKER_00 (42:47):
Nine nine hot dogs,
nine beers, nine innings.
So you drink a hot dog eat hotdog each inning.
SPEAKER_03 (42:54):
Um He made it to
what, like the sixth inning?
SPEAKER_00 (42:57):
Yeah.
So not in my 40s.
That is a lot of things.
I I think you if you okay, justgo with me here for a second.
SPEAKER_03 (43:06):
I'd be barfing up
hot dogs after the first time.
SPEAKER_00 (43:08):
Go with me here for
a second.
The the men's cross countrydream from college.
Yeah.
If we all showed up to abaseball game in our, you know,
at that time.
SPEAKER_03 (43:18):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (43:20):
You can see us all
doing that, right?
Yeah, you could see us all doingthat, right?
SPEAKER_03 (43:25):
I guess.
I guess my thing is.
SPEAKER_00 (43:26):
And and and I would
be one like obviously 20 years
old, running a lot, a lot, andalso the the the peer pressure
of the people around me, I wouldgive it a good honest shot, and
I think I could have done it.
It's not like you know how longyou have.
It would have felt terrible.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
That's the hard thing.
SPEAKER_03 (43:47):
The innings over in
like two minutes.
Yes.
So you have to eat another hotdog in a beer.
But it's Melissa, you think shedid it?
Turns out she was just hidingall the hot dogs in her jacket.
I thought that was a funnyscene.
I also um really felt for Janinewhen they were she was on the
camera and the dancing.
They're like, the little girl, because as also a short woman, I
(44:08):
can't tell you how often I amreferred to as a little girl.
And every time I see, which Ithink Quinta who plays Janine is
like an inch actually shorterthan me.
I'm Sabrina Carpenter Height.
Five feet to be exact.
And I think Quinta's like 4'11or something.
I can't tell you how oftenpeople call me little girl, but
at the same time, until likeSabrina got popular and I would
(44:32):
watch an Abbott, I never reallyI knew that I was short.
I mean, I did win freshmanfavorites, best short person um
in school.
Did you guys do freshmanfavorites like superlatives?
Not that I recall.
Okay, I'm sure you did.
You probably don't wantanything.
Just kidding.
Nice.
Anyway, so I knew that I wasshort, but I never really saw
myself as being that shortbecause a lot of you know, my
(44:53):
mom is short.
I'm around a lot of shortpeople, and I'm like, am I that
short?
And you're like, yes.
Like I just don't see what thebig deal is.
Like they're always makingcomments though about Sabrina's
height.
And I know, like, when Sabrinaand Taylor Swift were pictured
next to each other, everyone waslike, oh, big deal.
And I'm like, that's becauseTaylor, like, have we ever
thought about, and I love TaylorSwift, I'm a Swifty, but I'm
(45:14):
like, have we ever thought aboutthat?
Taylor's also tall?
She's a tall woman.
Like, I just like people arereally weird about like short
adult women, and I just have noonly noticed that in the past
couple years.
Like, and I just never reallysaw myself as a short as a being
that big of a deal, you know?
But they make it such a bigdeal.
And I'm like, I have beenreferred to as a little girl.
(45:34):
Like, what do you think aboutthat?
As a tall man, you're tallerthan the average man.
Am I am I that short?
Is it weird?
SPEAKER_00 (45:42):
I mean, I'm used to
it at this point.
Um, but I th I I just think it'sfunny when we did the little
camera thing that TikTok doeswhere you like put the camera at
my eye height and look down andas if you're talking to me face
to face, and that's the view Iget.
Yeah, it is kind of when youthink about it, it's like
there's this, oh look at you.
Just pat you on the head.
SPEAKER_03 (46:01):
I wonder why I like
tall people.
You have to you feel like giantto get like pointed out for
being tall.
You have to be like DwightHoward.
SPEAKER_00 (46:07):
Yeah, because I I'm
I'm six feet tall and I never I
never feel tall.
But I never feel tall.
SPEAKER_03 (46:12):
When they were like,
look at the little girl, I'm
like, I can't tell you how.
A lot of times when I worked asa reporter, they'd be like, I
talked to the little blondegirl.
SPEAKER_02 (46:20):
That's how they
would call me.
SPEAKER_03 (46:22):
So I do love me some
Abbott.
It is one of those shows that, and like you said, you float in
and out of it.
That when we watch it, I have agood time.
I enjoy the characters.
It's easy viewing, just like thenext show, which apparently we
have something we can watch fordinner tonight, Daniel.
Ghosts is back.
SPEAKER_00 (46:38):
That means we have
to get on Paramount Plus,
though.
SPEAKER_03 (46:40):
I know.
Apparently, it came back lastweek.
I've I guess I had it in myhead.
It was coming back on Halloween.
I don't know.
Maybe they would make sense.
Yeah, that would have madesense.
Um I was like, what happened?
I don't remember.
SPEAKER_01 (46:54):
I have no memory of
it.
SPEAKER_03 (46:55):
Well, I looked it up
for you.
Never fear.
Hope is here.
So remember Jay accidentallymade like a deal with the devil?
Yeah, okay.
Yeah.
So the episode description forthe premiere is Sam Jay and the
ghost attempt to I can't saythis word.
SPEAKER_00 (47:12):
You can't say it?
Or you won't say it.
SPEAKER_03 (47:15):
Extricate?
SPEAKER_00 (47:16):
Am I Extricate?
SPEAKER_03 (47:17):
Extra is that the I
don't know.
SPEAKER_00 (47:19):
I'm not looking at
the screen.
E X T R I Don't You can't spellsomething out loud to me and
expect me to know what it is.
SPEAKER_03 (47:26):
I'm we're both
English majors and we are
failing miserably with this.
Okay, so they are attempting toget Jay out of his deal with
Elias Woodstone.
That's um what's her face?
SPEAKER_01 (47:36):
Okay, I remember
that now.
SPEAKER_03 (47:37):
Yes, and then Isaac
is gonna help patience.
She's still around through acrisis of confidence.
And Pete Oh, I forgot that Peteand Alberta kissed.
So they're gonna navigate thefallout from their kiss.
That's been like somethingthey've been building the two of
them for like seasons, and Iforgot they had him finally
kissed.
So I'm excited to watch Ghosts.
(47:57):
Um, we'll probably do the samething.
We'll let that stack a littlebit.
Like you said, we have to getinto Paramount Plus.
But Ghosts, Ghosts is back.
I like it.
It's just easy, again, one ofthose shows.
If you're looking for easyviewing, check out check out
Ghosts.
SPEAKER_00 (48:13):
Alright, another
news, Special Forces is still
around.
SPEAKER_03 (48:17):
Um but Johnny Manzel
is not.
SPEAKER_00 (48:19):
Johnny Manzel is out
last in the last episode.
Not a lot of people.
Like, there's like I thinksomebody even said it on the
episode that we watched.
Like, there's a lot of peopleleft around for for epis for
four episodes in.
SPEAKER_03 (48:31):
They're gonna have
to start like kicking people
out.
We had Jesse Smollett gotmedically, he had to leave for
medical purposes.
Johnny Manzel was just a bigdisappointment.
He just like quit.
SPEAKER_00 (48:44):
Like 30 seconds
after he quit, when that they
they had the shot of himstanding, he had gotten out of
that trench and walked away, andyou could tell that he regretted
it almost immediately.
SPEAKER_03 (48:54):
It was almost like a
panicked, hot-headed decision.
Unfortunately, Cody Brown'sstill there.
I thought the last episode wefinally got to focus on Sean,
Johnson, and her husband.
Right.
Because he's like, and Sean'sjust locked in, like she has
that Olympic drive.
And I feel like he is saying, like, you know, and I do think
he he thinks he's beingsupportive, and I think he is
supportive, but I think deep, deep down, and they were kind of
(49:16):
getting to the root of that, hedid feel embarrassed that she
was able to complete one of thetasks and he couldn't, because
then he actually was one of theteam leaders and had the best
effort, and he I think he wasstill in his head about not
doing as good of a job.
So I've listened to theirpodcast before.
I think he does support her.
I think he seems like he's apretty good husband, just from
(49:36):
what I've seen.
But I think this show kind ofpeels back those layers, and I
think there is a there is someinsecurity with him, and they've
barely talked about the otherhusband and wife there, Jesse,
James Decker, and Eric Decker.
Do you think they're gonna focuson them at all?
They've been kind of flyingunder the radar.
SPEAKER_00 (49:53):
Well, I don't know
if they've got time because now
you've told me that there'spotentially only one episode
left.
SPEAKER_03 (49:57):
According to IMDB,
and that doesn't feel right, but
if it is And according to AI,it's scheduled to have five
episodes, which would mean thatthis week is the finale, and it
does not feel right.
SPEAKER_00 (50:10):
There's like 13
people left.
I wonder maybe like some maybesomething happens and they have
to like call it early.
I don't know.
SPEAKER_03 (50:17):
Like I have no idea,
but that's seems real weird,
yeah.
Because normally they've hadkind of the standard finale at
each time.
We were talking about how NickYoung is still there.
Yeah.
And he kind of like the wayWe'll never make it through
that.
He's like not gonna make itthrough that.
He's been freaking out on theheight stuff.
And the way he definitely hasthe whole like class clown
comedian vibe, that's how hedeals with things.
(50:38):
Is he says stuff out loud.
I can tell I've known peoplelike that, that's how he works
through it.
And I'm like, they're not he'snot gonna handle like the crying
babies in the one room that theyhave to when they but I'm like,
are they even gonna do thischallenge if there's supposedly
only five episodes left?
I'm definitely disappointed thatJohnny Manzel went out early
though.
SPEAKER_00 (50:57):
Yeah, but I mean he
wasn't at the time he was there,
he wasn't being he was notproviding any kind of real
entertainment factor.
SPEAKER_03 (51:05):
Like I did like how
in the episode, I don't think we
talked about it, where Cody waswalking across like the wire
thing or the ladder, and the onedude was like, pretend like
you're having to give them toone of your wives.
SPEAKER_00 (51:22):
Um, Dancing with the
Stars completed uh Disney night
and dead had did we have oh wehad had we not talked about
Disney night or dedicationnight?
SPEAKER_03 (51:32):
We've not talked
about Disney night or dedication
night.
Um, those are the previousepisodes.
The person the last person thatgot voted off was Elaria Baldwin
is now gone.
She got voted off on um Disneynight and um for Dedication
Night, which they've donebefore.
(51:52):
No one went home.
So I think we're gonna have adouble elimination tonight,
which tonight is Wicked Night.
I'm so excited for Wicked Night.
Uh so yeah, let's get into it.
Uh the dances for Disney night,I thought they were pretty good.
Um, my the standout dance for meof Disney night, I have two was
one, I thought Alex and Val didit really good.
(52:15):
That's the best I had seen herperform.
She was maleficent.
Um, I thought that was a reallygood dance.
And then Mark and Whitneyabsolutely ate and left no
crumbs with that Hamilton dance.
I feel like we did talk aboutDisney Night on the podcast, but
I don't I don't know, did we?
Maybe not.
We talk about it so much witheach other.
Half the time I can't tell it.
SPEAKER_00 (52:35):
We didn't have an
episode last week, so we
wouldn't have talked aboutDisney Night because last week's
episode was super cut.
SPEAKER_03 (52:41):
See, we're yapping
to each other in the house
randomly about the show all thetime, and I'm like, did we talk
about that on the pod?
Here's my problem.
SPEAKER_00 (52:47):
I I agree with you
on your two picks for the Disney
night, and those were probablythe two standouts.
My problem with that is that Ifeel like Hamilton is stretching
the theme a little bit too fast.
SPEAKER_03 (53:01):
Yeah, they got by
with that by that was the Disney
Plus selection.
Because don't punish the dancer.
Because I'm not punishing thedancer.
SPEAKER_00 (53:08):
No, I'm not I'm not.
I'm just saying that like nowthat Hulu is you know on the
death march and everything thatis on Hulu is on Disney Plus,
like next year are we gonna havelike, you know, what are we
gonna have that's gonna count asDisney?
SPEAKER_03 (53:23):
Simpsons for Disney
Night one year.
SPEAKER_00 (53:24):
Yeah, and I disagree
with that.
Like it's a great dance, but itbut like I just think it's
stupid to call it Disney nightif you're not gonna do a And
they did some people who gotfries too.
SPEAKER_03 (53:35):
All right, well then
you know what is a known Disney
property, and we're having aserious missed opportunity.
Let's bring in a little man Ilike to call Protozoa and zoom,
zoom, zoom, if I go boom, boom.
So anyway, would be amazing!
SPEAKER_00 (53:50):
Anyways, dedication
night always a bummer.
Well, at least they didn't getrid of anybody.
But uh I honestly like thisdedication night's the the
episode I look forward to theleast.
SPEAKER_03 (54:00):
Really?
But it's so sad.
Yeah, exactly.
Also touching.
Exactly.
This time they did somethingdifferent.
They actually brought out thepeople on stage dedicating it
to.
You thought it was bad.
SPEAKER_00 (54:10):
I didn't like it
because exactly the reasons that
you said earlier today.
Some people had brought insomebody for like the last five
seconds of the dance, and otherpeople incorporated that person
almost into the entirety of thedance, which led to how do you
score this?
SPEAKER_03 (54:27):
Well, I don't think
there were any rules on that,
but I do feel like, for example, like Alan and Elaine, Lisa Ann
Walters, who plays Melissa onAbbott Elementary, but she's
also Chesse in the Parent Trap.
They met on the Parent Trap, they became, they have been, and
I know this is not just a thingto get people to watch, like,
because I have followed both oftheir careers.
They have been best friends foryears, like ride or dies.
(54:51):
And they have Lisa Ann come inand she basically danced almost
that entire routine, and she didpretty good for not having very
much rehearsal time.
But Elaine's one of thosecontestants who I definitely
think if she got more votes, would deserve to be in the
finals.
And I do feel like that I Ithink one, don't get me into it.
I feel like they've beenunderscoring her the whole
(55:11):
season, but I digress.
I think that like that couldhave almost hindered the scoring
for that.
Whereas Andy, who had his littlegirl, who's so precious and
cute, and danced better than hedid, I feel like she was in the
dance almost the whole time, andthat helped them.
And then you had um, I wassobbing, Robert and Whitney's
(55:31):
their contemporary, wasbeautiful, but his mom was on
stage for like two seconds.
Um, let's see, Mark and Whitney.
They had Connor, anotherproblem, like he should do
dancing with the stars.
Connor did almost the wholedance too with him.
It almost felt like a trio.
That was a really good dance.
Um and then, of course, peoplewere I saw people don't, you
better put some respect onWilliam Daniels, Mr.
(55:53):
Feeney, you Gen Z people.
People like this old man was onstage for two seconds.
The man is 98, and Danielle andPasha had a jive.
I was surprised he stood up inthe scene.
They did the uh dance to the BoyMeets World theme song.
And I thought they were justgonna have him behind the death,
but when he stood up, I waslike, oh my gosh, he's standing
up.
So yeah, there was there wasreally, and I think they were
(56:16):
still not supposed to be judgedon how the person that they
brought in did.
Yeah, but in the case of likeAlan, Elaine, Lisa Ann, where
they're where they are dancingthe whole dance, or Connor,
Whitney, and Mark, and they'rein the whole dance together.
I think it it probably did makeit a little harder to judge.
SPEAKER_00 (56:32):
How how does how
does it not come into play in
some manner into how thedancing?
Because particularly some ofthose dances you end up not
because like a Elaine wasdancing with her at one point.
SPEAKER_03 (56:44):
It felt like trio
night, which they used to do.
SPEAKER_00 (56:47):
How like uh Elaine
is not is is is trying to be an
exper is trying is a pro istrying to be a good dancer, but
she's now dancing with somebodywho has less dancing experience
with her, and that's going toaffect how she dances the dance,
and it's just this whole mess,and I just I didn't like it.
See, I feel like you could havedone dedication night, have the
person there, could give them ahug at the end, and be done with
(57:08):
it.
SPEAKER_03 (57:08):
I kind of liked it
that they brought him on stage.
I thought it it added to me,it's always the same old, same
old each year, and I like thatthey brought in that new
element, but I did think that itI mean, like I said, like some
of those pros, they took agamble by putting those by
putting them in.
SPEAKER_01 (57:24):
Alright.
SPEAKER_03 (57:25):
I don't know.
But I I thought it was it, Ithought it was a good way to
change it up.
I'm definitely gonna say Dancingwith the Stars has a lot of new
fans, which I'm glad, but I'mabout to have to step away from
the internet for a little bitbecause these new fans are
insane.
Y'all, I remember when y'allwouldn't have survived the years
where the people were gettingthrees and fours.
(57:45):
Also, every season somebody hasdance experience.
Alex has dance experience onthis show.
Whitney, as we know, has danceexperience on the show.
Apparently, the Irwins are justblessed with natural dance
ability.
But I'm trying to think ofsomebody else that probably Oh,
Elaine.
She has dance experience.
Alaria.
Now, Alaria's dance experiencewas different.
She was actually ballroomtrained and competed against the
(58:07):
pros.
So that's where I had some beefwith her.
Charlie D'Amelio, who won withMark a couple seasons ago, dance
experience and probably one ofthe best dancers I've ever seen
on there.
That is a common thing.
I'm seeing some people like Inever thought I'd see the day
where people turned on Mark.
Mark Ballas.
I've always loved Mark for beingcreative.
They think he gets specialtreatment.
I absolutely do not think thatis true.
(58:29):
Um and it's just if people aremaking it, they're they're
sucking the fun out of it.
And then some of the judgingdefinitely has been
inconsistent, but don't blamethe pros on that.
Don't blame um the dancers onthat because they don't have
anything to do with how they'rebeing judged.
SPEAKER_00 (58:45):
No, I I we were
talking in the car the other
day, and I I I finally I I cameout and just plain old said it.
I don't like Derek as a judge.
I I don't I he's not filling thethe hole left by Lynn in a in a
way.
SPEAKER_03 (58:58):
Except for Derek to
carry Ann.
SPEAKER_00 (59:00):
Um You know what,
but I'm used to her.
I know how she's she's so wildlyinconsistent.
She's consistently inconsistent,and so I'm there I understand
it.
And how Bruno is, I get it.
But Derek is like, I don't know, there's just the last couple
seasons, the way he judges anddoes stuff, like he's given out
these eights and nines to peoplewho Lynn would have never even
(59:21):
put a thought to those dancesgetting eights and nines.
And then sometimes he's thathe's dragging Bruno with him
into that.
Because if you've noticed thetheme, Bruno and and um Derek
tend to be about the same score, and then it's Carrie Ann who's
the outlier one way or theother.
SPEAKER_03 (59:37):
Carrie Ann bugs me
the most just because she picks
a woman she picks on a womanevery season.
Seems like she's picking on Jenthis year, and it's just I don't
know.
I think as a whole, though, thejudging they're being so hard on
the women and so easy on themen.
There's no way, shape, form, orfashion that Dylan Efron, Zach
(59:57):
Efron's probably.
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:00):
Just pulled off the
street.
Nobody knows who he is.
The fact that So he's not acelebrity, and yet here he is
dancing and stays on the showjust because they're giving him
good scores.
SPEAKER_03 (01:00:08):
He's got all nines.
He's the top of the leaderboardand he danced a contemporary.
Do I think that Daniela isgiving him technique, working
with him?
Sure.
Was his little sister adorable?
Yes.
I like that they danced to theirbrother's song from The Greatest
Showman.
But I my jaw about hit theground when he got all nines.
Like that was insane.
(01:00:28):
And I think I miss, I feel likethey used to judge all of the
contestants on the same likescale.
Now it's like you're almostbeing judged like individually,
and it's weird and it comes offodd.
And I felt like Alex andRobert's and Whitney's
contemporaries were all betterthan Dylan's.
And I feel like Dylan has beenconsistently overscored every
(01:00:50):
week, where people like Jordanand Elaine have been
underscored, and it'sirritating.
Now I will also say this I gottadefend my boy Mark Ballis one
more time.
I saw people were like, oh, theygot away with a mistake, Mark
and Whitney, because they wereoff timing.
They did not get away with amistake.
All the judges pointed it outand they did dock points.
I think that could have been atin dance had they not gotten
(01:01:12):
away with that mistake.
Or excuse me, had they not hadthat mistake that they did not
get away with because they allpointed it out and their scores
were lower.
Simone Biles, let's let's talkabout Simone Biles right now.
Who wants to poison dancing withstars?
She falls off a balance beam.
She still might win thatcompetition.
You want to know why?
She has her more difficultroutine, harder tricks.
(01:01:33):
The content that Marque Whitneywas harder than other people.
So yeah, of course, like they'regonna dock it, but it was still
a very good dance, and she wasdoing more.
And it just, it's I'm startingto think that they're not gonna
make the finals and I'm gonna bereally mad about it because
people are just really weirdabout these two, and it's very
upsetting.
And there was some controversyabout Wicked Knight and the
(01:01:53):
songs, and Mark had to come outand say, This is the order of
the songs that I wanted, like, here is my list, where Popular
was like number four.
I can tell if you're a realWicked fan and if you're not,
because I feel like people onlyknow popular and defiant gravity
that have not seen it.
And I'm like, and I'm sittingthere like I wouldn't want to
dance to popular, and that's oneof my favorite songs from Wicked
(01:02:14):
because I'm like the timing ofthat, the musicality, that's
gonna be hard to dance to.
And people are like, a lot ofthe Alex fans are like, Oh, they
it should have been her that gotpopular.
Uh, how so?
I feel like Whitney's gonna havebetter theatrics anyway.
And people are getting real madabout it, and I'm like, no, like
relax.
It's just some of the fans andthe way they're acting, and I
(01:02:35):
think Derek, remember he madethat weird comment about
negativity, and we were like, why did he say that?
A lot of people online thinkthat it was actually going off
this discourse, he just said itawkwardly.
So I'm like, this is supposed tobe a fun show, so yeah, that's
that's what I gotta get off mysoapbox.
Like, leave them alone.
Okay, well, jump off here forthe fun job.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:55):
Jump off the
soapbox.
We gotta stop talking aboutdancing with the stars.
SPEAKER_03 (01:02:58):
Well, we have to
talk about one more soap.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:59):
Well, we got two
more things to talk about, but
before we because before we talkabout this week, I'm just gonna
go rant because since you get torant about dancing with the
stars, and I've already put onehot take out there about my
thoughts on Derek, I'm justgonna go ahead and tell you the
other one that I told you aboutthe other day.
I don't like contemporary.
And I understand that some ofthe greatest, most memorable
(01:03:19):
dances on Dancing with the Starsthat have ever been were
contemporaries.
And guess what?
I don't like contemporaries.
It's really interesting becausethey can do whatever they want.
There's no rules, they just getto go do blah, blah, blah, blah,
blah.
And I really don't like becausethis is did not used to be the
way the show used to be.
I really do not like when theyhave people doing foxtrots and
(01:03:44):
traditional ballroom dances, andthen a couple people get to go
jump around out there and do anddo jazz and do contemporary, and
they have to look at each other, and the average dancing with the
stars watcher, and I'm not anaverage dancing with the stars
watcher people.
For better or for worse, I'vebeen subjugated to this show for
20 years.
SPEAKER_03 (01:04:05):
You like this show.
You watched it in your hotel.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:08):
To the average
person watching the show, they
see the contemporary people andthey go, Oh, well, that was way
better than the Foxtrot people.
Not because it was technicallybetter or not, but because it
was flashier and more fun, and II don't like it.
SPEAKER_03 (01:04:23):
Can I just say the
season that really sucked you in
was that Amon and Danielacontemporary on Halloween night,
and you were like, This is thebest dance I've ever seen.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:31):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (01:04:32):
Okay.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:33):
Right.
But that didn't suck me in.
I had already been in thefranchise for years before that.
SPEAKER_03 (01:04:38):
But you were really
excited.
That was one of your favoriteseasons to watch.
Yes.
And I think it's because we sawAmon do so well.
Who got fours?
Yes.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:45):
By the way, from
couldn't even dream of a four
this year.
What's a four?
SPEAKER_03 (01:04:50):
Okay, so I I want to
say one more thing about Dancing
with the Stars.
Wicked Night.
Taking all the negative one-linediscord aside.
I am so excited for WickedNight.
I cannot wait.
And I'm sorry, the Alex fansthat were complaining about her
not getting popular, sheactually got the best song.
She and Val got What is ThisFeeling?
And I feel like there were thoserumors at the beginning of the
(01:05:10):
season that they weren't gettingalong.
I'm like, oh my god, they needto play off that.
That's gonna be really fun.
It's gonna make a good dance.
Robert got Dancing Through Life.
Uh-huh.
Perfect.
Obsessed.
Um, I I just I I'm reallyexcited.
I love Wicked.
I won't that's why I'm gonnastop the online discourse and
I'm just gonna enjoy hearing oneof my favorite, you know, movie,
(01:05:32):
musical, Broadway productionscoming into play with Dancing
with the Stars, and I I'm gonnahave fun with it.
I can't wait.
I I just I I my one my one I Imy one question is this uh
defying gravity.
I really thought Jordan wasgonna get that because of the
stuff she could do, but it turnsout Elaine and Alan got it.
And Alan totally had us allthinking that he that they were
(01:05:54):
gonna get something bad so hecould dress up as an animal
again.
And he tricked us, and I'm like,oh my gosh, they're getting like
the song from Wicked.
So I I'm I'm excited.
Um if it is a doubleelimination, my predictions are
I do think it's time for Andy togo.
And I think it's gonna be eitherAndy and sadly Elaine, which is
gonna be bull crap, or Andy andJen from Secret Lives and Mormon
(01:06:15):
Lives.
I think those two, those threeare the ones I'm worried about
tonight.
Andy, Elaine, and Jen.
Who do you think is going?
Make two predictions.
You can have a third in caselike me.
SPEAKER_00 (01:06:26):
Andy and Jen.
SPEAKER_03 (01:06:27):
Andy and Jen?
SPEAKER_00 (01:06:29):
Maybe that's maybe
unhelpful.
SPEAKER_03 (01:06:30):
So well, um, it's
everybody's almost favorite time
of year for Hawmark Christmasmovies.
But first off, we decided towatch a Halloween Hawmark movie
called Haul Out the Halloween.
It is the third movie to theHaul Out the Holly movies of the
(01:06:51):
Christmas variety with theHallmark Christmas Queen
herself, Lacey Shaber.
And uh I was really excitedabout this because it has Marnie
and her real life husband who umthey met when they filmed
Halloween Town 2.
What is it?
Calabar's Revenge.
I always want to say Excalibur,I know that's wrong.
(01:07:12):
Calabar's Revenge.
They met, um, they reconnectedseveral years later as adults,
and now they're married in reallife.
It's super cute.
And I'm like, we have to watchthis because the Halloween Town
people are gonna be in it.
So we watched it on Saturday, kind of kicking off the Hallmark
movies.
What'd you think, Daniel?
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:35):
This was one of the
worst pieces of garbage.
SPEAKER_03 (01:07:40):
Oh, it was cute I
have ever seen.
You don't like the Hall of theHolly movies.
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:45):
There was nothing
redeeming about it.
SPEAKER_03 (01:07:47):
The very end, the
last sentence at the end was
redeeming.
SPEAKER_00 (01:07:50):
Terrible.
The writing was bad, the actingwas bad, the cinematography was
bad.
Everything about it was bad.
You can clearly tell the writersdecided uh since the last time
they wrote one of these horriblepiles of garbage that they had
(01:08:11):
all watched The Secret Lives ofMormon Wives and realized, hey,
wait a second.
We made the first two movies ofthis series, of this franchise,
we made it look like they werein Utah.
So it's very easy for us to justgo back and now suddenly make
this in Utah and put all thesecallbacks to the Mormon wives,
like with their Switch and withtheir always taking their Mormon
(01:08:34):
wives stuff and just put it allin there to chill it out for the
Mormon wives folks out therethat just love it and just make
just an awful piece of garbage.
You don't like the Holly moviesanyway.
That just there's I'm a worseperson for having watched this
movie.
It's an insult to call it amovie.
(01:08:55):
It was terrible, and I wasphysically painful for me to sit
through, and I'm mad at theindustry as a whole for allowing
this to get made.
SPEAKER_03 (01:09:09):
But you did again,
you didn't love of the Hallmark
Christmas movies, you neverreally liked the Hall of the
Hollywood.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:14):
You keep using the
word love, and I just want to
make a very clear statement.
Please do not interrupt me, butI want this to be a clean take.
There is not a single HallmarkChristmas or any other holiday
movie that I ever would say Iloved or liked.
(01:09:38):
There have been a few onoccasion.
There have been a few onoccasion that I would say were
fine.
SPEAKER_03 (01:09:45):
You really like that
one with Jake Mikowski.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:47):
No.
It was fine.
SPEAKER_03 (01:09:50):
Whatever.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:51):
It was fine.
SPEAKER_03 (01:09:53):
Whatever, whatever.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:54):
If this is any
indication of the quality that
we can look forward to with theChristmas movies coming up here
in a couple weeks.
Oh, wait, not a couple weeks! Not a couple weeks! It's
mid-October and they're alreadyon! And now you're gonna have a
full two-season television showthat you're gonna make me watch
called Mitsletoe Mysteries orsomething?
(01:10:15):
You're gonna drive me insane!
SPEAKER_03 (01:10:18):
Anyway, um, do you
remember the first Hall Out the
Holly was when I had shingles?
Do you remember that?
SPEAKER_00 (01:10:29):
The shingles
experience must have been more
enjoyable than watching thismovie.
SPEAKER_03 (01:10:33):
No, okay, you've
never you've never had shingles.
It is awful.
Don't you put that evil on me,Ricky Bobby.
Okay, I will say this.
The Hall at the Holly movies areintentionally stupid.
I feel like they all play themup.
SPEAKER_00 (01:10:45):
No, no, they are not
intentionally stupid.
They are stupid, but there's nointention behind that.
SPEAKER_03 (01:10:50):
Okay, anyway.
This one, it's clear they wantedto do something cutesy for
Halloween.
I want to know what happened tothe neighbors in the second Hall
at the Holly that moved in.
Those people were nowhere to befound.
Um The plot of this one was allover.
SPEAKER_01 (01:11:05):
Nonexistent.
SPEAKER_03 (01:11:06):
The last ones,
they've kind of had a cohesive
element.
We have grandma's apparently aghost, but we was they they're
bringing Halloween back to theneighborhood because our lead
character, Emily, was like, Iguess grandma died like two
weeks after Halloween, so forsome reason they decided to.
SPEAKER_00 (01:11:23):
So the entire town.
Wait, wait, wait.
I I don't think this can justbe.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
This can't be glossed over.
The so so she got scared by alittle girl at Halloween.
SPEAKER_03 (01:11:37):
Who's now a news
reporter?
SPEAKER_00 (01:11:38):
Grandma died two
weeks after Halloween, and the
entire cul-de-sac stopscelebrating Halloween for 25
years.
SPEAKER_03 (01:11:49):
Apparently.
But they decided to bring itback because of our uh the
Halloween Town, the couple whoare not playing their characters
from Halloween Town.
They're playing a couple thatmoves in and they're obsessed
with Halloween.
And I felt kind of like duped.
I thought they were gonna havemore of a role.
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:06):
Right there with
you, sister.
SPEAKER_03 (01:12:07):
I thought they were
gonna have more of a role.
I think maybe if you put theirscreen time together, they
Kimberly J.
Brown, who played Marnie in theHalloween Town movies, I think
they had maybe like fiveminutes.
But you know what, Daniel?
I said this movie will beredeemed for me if I can hear
Kimberly J.
Brown say, Halloween is cool.
And guess what?
The last sentence of the movie, after we found out that Emily's
(01:12:30):
husband got into the NorwegianSanta Academy, I'm sensing a
fourth movie here.
Um, she goes, Halloween is cool.
And I was like, Yes, it makes upfor it.
No, no, it's a good one.
SPEAKER_00 (01:12:39):
You were an
unabashed shill for nostalgia.
SPEAKER_03 (01:12:43):
I am, and yeah, I
watched Halloween Town the next
day.
So our Hallmark and NetflixChristmas season is almost here.
As he said, the stuff is alreadykicked off.
Daniel bought a really throwbackHallmark movie.
We are going to be watching thatum in early November.
A diva's Christmas Carol.
It is cued up for the firsttime.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:02):
By the way, I
listen, I want to make it very
clear.
I didn't do this out of goodnessof my heart.
She looked at me and said, Youshould try and find a copy of
this, and I did.
SPEAKER_03 (01:13:09):
Yeah, because you
love doing it.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:11):
Probably the first
episode one of the first
episodes, podcast episodes ofNovember will also be a supercut
of last year's ChristmasHallmark and Netflix movies.
Um, kind of like what we didlast year.
SPEAKER_03 (01:13:23):
Netflix Hot Frosty.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:24):
Yeah, kind of like
what we did last year where we
released that.
SPEAKER_03 (01:13:26):
So you loved Hot
Frosty.
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:28):
Look forward or have
a mild sense of dread at that at
the forthcoming supercut of thatone.
SPEAKER_03 (01:13:35):
Well, we are getting
um five Netflix original
Christmas movies, and one ofthem, Daniel, I just gotta tell
you this the preview of it is agirl who has to pay money, like
pay, make, pay the bills, andshe's gonna dress up, she's
gonna have a Mrs.
Doubtfire situation where she'sgonna go full makeup and dress
(01:13:56):
up as Santa, but then she'sgonna fall in love with like the
owner of the ski lodge, but hedoesn't know that she's like
impersonating Santa because hethinks Santa's a man, and I
can't wait for that one.
It looks insane.
Remember the blacklist?
You know Tom from the blacklist?
He's gonna play the loveinterest in that.
I can't wait.
SPEAKER_00 (01:14:17):
I'm gonna watch all
this.
And all I ask in return is shewatches Star Trek 4 with me.
That's it.
I don't ask for a lot.
But that's that that that is arequirement.
Because it it's this is this isinsanity.
It's getting out of hand.
SPEAKER_03 (01:14:37):
But you are gonna be
dropping that supercut though,
so people can relive.
Yeah, I've got it.
SPEAKER_00 (01:14:41):
It's almost pulled
together, so it'll be early
November.
SPEAKER_03 (01:14:44):
I like to watch the
Hallmark and Netflix ones, and
then we bring out the heavyhitters, the good ones.
Like Christmas Vacation, HomeAlone.
SPEAKER_00 (01:14:52):
It's not just simply
because you bring out the heavy
hitters, it's because as soon asyou watch one of those actual
quality films, you can't then goback to the garbage slop of
Hallmark Christmas movies.
SPEAKER_03 (01:15:05):
You liked a built
more Christmas.
SPEAKER_00 (01:15:07):
Uh it was fine.
SPEAKER_03 (01:15:08):
Oh, please.
SPEAKER_00 (01:15:09):
It was fine.
Are we done?
Yes.
Is this all we have to do?
I feel like I can't believe youeven made me relive watching
that Halloween movie.
SPEAKER_03 (01:15:22):
Like, are we still
recording?
You're saying you're asking meif we were done.
I was like, I guess.
Oh, I watched one more moviethat I'll talk about because
I'll never talk about it againon the podcast.
I watched, I know what you didlast summer, the sequel of a
sequel on Netflix.
It finally dropped on Netflix, even though it just came out in
what, like late July, August.
(01:15:42):
That's not a sign of goodthings.
I had the you don't watch thosemovies, so you weren't up here.
I actually had uh the big twistruin for me, like the day after
the movie was released, which iswhy you didn't get dragged to
the theaters to see it.
So I guess thank the weirdoTikToker who ruined everything.
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:00):
Thank you, weirdo
TikToker, for ruining
everything.
SPEAKER_03 (01:16:03):
Um The Twist was
stupid.
I still kind of like the movie.
I like seeing Jennifer LoveHewitt, and unfortunately, the
post-credits or the mid-creditscene that we got, which had
Brandy, who was in I Still KnowWhat You Did Last Summer, she
showed up in it, and they reallysizzled me, and I'm like, oh now
I want another, but I heard thismovie was an absolute flop, so
now I don't think we're gonnaget that.
(01:16:23):
But that makes me sad.
I wish you watched the I know.
You're just not a horror kind ofperson.
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:28):
No, not
particularly.
Are you?
No.
Another movie flopped uh overthe last weekend, Tron, the new
Tron Legacy.
I think um I saw a funny memewhere it was like Tron fans sell
sa sacrificing the Tronfranchise.
They'll never make another onejust so we can finally get Jared
Leto to go away.
SPEAKER_03 (01:16:47):
I like Jared Leto.
What's wrong with him?
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:50):
You're you're in the
strong minority here.
SPEAKER_03 (01:16:53):
Who doesn't?
What did he do?
SPEAKER_00 (01:16:54):
He's creepy.
SPEAKER_03 (01:16:55):
He's just he's just
Jordan Catalano from My
So-Called Life.
I love Jared Leto.
SPEAKER_00 (01:17:00):
He's just not the
vibes.
SPEAKER_03 (01:17:02):
I think he's hot.
SPEAKER_00 (01:17:03):
As the kids would
say, he's just not the vibes.
SPEAKER_03 (01:17:05):
Did he do something
controversial?
SPEAKER_00 (01:17:07):
I don't know.
I don't surprise he's just notthe vibes seven.
