(00:01):
Hello and welcome back to thepodcast.
I'm really excited to kick off anew series.
Before our live masterclass onApril 22nd, 12:00 PM Eastern on
how to book 10 K weddings thisyear, and the link is in the
show notes to RSVP.
You're gonna wanna come livebecause of the simple fact that

(00:23):
I'll be doing pricing auditsafter the class, and of course,
inviting you to the new programthat is going to change your
life in business forever.
To kick all of that off, Ireally wanted to dive into
mindset.
I am a mindset girly, and Ihaven't done one of these really
big juicy episodes in quite sometime, but before that, we're
gonna be diving into A four partmini series on the five figure

(00:45):
sales skills that every weddingphotographer needs to get booked
at 10 K per wedding.
And it's totally possible we'regonna be breaking this down with
my main four tools andphilosophies and strategies.
It's going to be a really goodone.
So after this episode, when youfeel like you have your mindset
clarity and you're ready to geta move on, definitely subscribe

(01:06):
if you don't already to thepodcast.
Follow along because this isreally going to shake the way
you think about business and howachievable it really is to have
this successful business thatyou had envisioned since picking
up your camera.
Let's be so for real.
So without further ado, let'sdive into The five mindsets you
need to make six figures orbuild a profitable business,

(01:27):
whatever success looks like toyou.
Number one is ditching thescarcity and going for
abundance.
Now, this alone could probablyshift the way that you think
about your life and yourbusiness, The way that this
comes up in most of our thoughtsand stories is that there is not
enough room for me, right?

(01:49):
Or there's already so manypeople in the industry.
The industry is saturated, andhow in the world am I going to
be able to build a business ifso and so is already booked out,
and so is.
Better than me, charging morethan me, maybe charging less
than me and able to book out,but I can't and the reason

(02:10):
always is rooted in scarcity, which is the feeling of never
enough.
And when you have a scarcitymindset, it can be challenging
to get out of it because whenyou're thinking the same
thoughts over and over, itbecomes a truth to you, which is
so paralyzing and can be hard toget out of because you're so
close to it that you reallycan't see it.

(02:31):
Like this is normal to you.
You probably think everybodythinks this when really you
might be the only person whothinks this way.
And so how do you shift thisscarcity mindset of there's
never enough.
I could never, this person'sbetter is.
Diving into abundance andabundance is that there is
enough So let's look at it interms of facts and data,

(02:54):
because.
Scarcity is honestly just anopinion.
Do you really know?
Like factually like datanumbers, receipts, proof,
articles, that there isn'tenough room for you.
Prove it.
Prove that you are correct, andI will tell you that abundance
isn't necessary.
I'll wait.

(03:15):
Exactly, because there is noactual proof that there isn't
enough.
But I will give you proof thatthere is enough.
And that there are 8 billionpeople in the world as of 20,
25, 8 billion.
That's so many.
And there are an estimated about343 million people in the United
States alone.
So if you're a destinationwedding photographer, then that

(03:37):
number will not even affect youbecause you're gonna be
traveling across the globe, butif you only wanna shoot weddings
in the United States, then okaythere's 343 million people in
the world.
A little less than 8 billion.
Correct?
But the point is, how manyweddings do you actually need to
be booked, to be busy, to beprofitable, and at what price

(04:00):
point.
The industry is not saturatedbecause there are approximately.
2 million couples expected toget married every single year in
the us.
Okay?
I didn't even do the globe.
I'm just in the us, okay?
2 million couples.

(04:20):
If you only need 20 to 25 to bebooked, then maybe there is room
for you.
Maybe there is room for what youbring to the table and how you
can do it differently.
Boom.
Scarcity, crushed, abundance,adopted.
The next is fixed mindset, andit doesn't really sound that

(04:42):
cool.
I like to call this thecomplacency mindset because a
fixed mindset means you're notgonna do anything.
You're so scared of failing orthe unknown that you never do
anything.
You're in the same spot that youwere last year, the year before,
and hopefully not years beforethat.

(05:05):
And so this one is usuallycaused by perfection.
And the abil, the fear of makinga mistake and if you view making
a mistake as a failure?
Or maybe you just feel sothreatened by other people's
success, you're like, I couldnever do that.
So I'm gonna stay right herewhere it's nice and safe, my

(05:28):
little bubble.
It might not be profitable, itmight not be working out for me.
Maybe my account is negativehalf the time, but at least I'm
safe.
I go against the grain already.
So I've always been a growthgirly.
Like I love to break the rules.
I don't like doing whateverybody says I'm gonna do.

(05:49):
I remember tons of people sayingThis business would never work,
and my response was, watch me.
And it continues to be so as Ihave grown and changed and made
mistakes, done thingsimperfectly.
While fearing failure, don't getme wrong, like I fear failure.
I do not like to fail.
Failure is only a perception.

(06:12):
And I mean that by saying whatactually is a failure?
And if I ask a bunch of peoplethat are listening to this right
now, what is failure to you?
It's gonna be different becausefailure is not a one size fits
all kind of thing.
We all perceive failure to bedifferent things, and for me, my
biggest fear is complacency.

(06:34):
If I am in the same place thistime next year, that would've
been a failure to me.
Because I haven't done anythingand I believe that we should
constantly be growing andchanging.
And how does that develop intogrowth?
Growth mindset is like justgetting dirty doing the hard
work.
roll up, your sleeves, getdirty, embrace the challenge.

(06:59):
Fall on your face, make amistake, learn from it, and keep
going.
Now, it can be a failure if youmake a mistake.
But it also could be perceivedas a lesson.
And I've always said that it'snever a failure.
It is a lesson.
It is only a failure if youdidn't learn your lesson.
So if you're doing the samething five to 10 times, yeah,

(07:20):
we're at failure.
Yeah.
But if you can look atsomething, and let's say you
made a mistake, right?
Something was imperfect, Godforbid.
And you tell yourself, okay, what was I supposed to learn for
this and what am I not gonna dothe next time?
Then that was a lesson, andyou're gonna take your beautiful
growth mindset and apply thelesson so that you don't make

(07:44):
the same mistake.
Maybe we'll call that a failure,right?
Doing the same thing over andover, and expecting a different
result.
What did Einstein say?
That's crazy and instead ofbeing competitive with somebody,
you're gonna be inspired bysomebody.
If somebody has success, you'regonna say, oh, they did that.
I can do that too.
Why not me?
Let's go.

(08:04):
that just proves that this canbe done.
That just validates what I'mgonna be working towards versus
being like, oh, this person doesthat.
Oh, they think they're betterthan everybody else.
Oh, I'm not gonna do that.
The perception is completelydifferent.
And then growth mindset is alsotaking the feedback, taking the

(08:24):
no nonsense, no fluff feedback.
Being like, all right, cool.
I'm gonna apply this and movingon.
Not always being so emotionallyattached to every single thing.
If you make it a big deal, thenit is a big deal.
If not, just keep it moving.
This is one I've actually nevertalked about before, but
cultivating a creative mindset, and this is the fun stuff,

(08:46):
right?
Because we're all artists atheart.
We're all artists.
Innately, I think all of us cando something artistic, but
having a creative mindset isalmost giving yourself
permission to create.
In a way that feels good to you, unique to you, based on your
life, based on what you're drawnto.
Maybe you have a vision of whatyou want your work to look like.

(09:09):
Why don't you figure out how youcan make that happen creatively,
steve Jobs said Creativity isintelligence, having fun.
So that being said, don't beafraid to create something.
Don't look at anybody else ifyou're gonna create it, do your
absolute best not to compare.

(09:30):
To other creators, other artistsseek inspiration elsewhere and
then have fun.
Like, when did we stop havingfun in our photography
businesses?
I know business jargon is notfun and going through all these
things, and especially mindsetwork, also not fun, but once the
work is done.
The creativity on the other sideis gonna be so worth it.

(09:50):
You're gonna feel like abutterfly.
Everything that you touch justturns to gold and you are just
out there flying around, showingoff your beautiful wings.
That's what I want for you.
And the last mindset is theability to break the rules,
which I had touched on before, but like, while all of us are
giving advice and strategiesbased on our examples and our

(10:11):
truths, you ultimately I say,are the CEO of your life.
Man.
If you don't wanna do it, don'tdo it.
If you think there's a betterway, try it.
It might not have been donebefore.
I think the beautiful thingabout being a business owner is
your ability to do things yourown way.
We give you the tools and youcan run with it and do whatever

(10:32):
you want with it, and I want youto have that creative freedom to
be able to do that.
But you have to adopt thesemindsets if you're ever gonna
build a successful business, ifyou're ever gonna be proud of
yourself, your your own hypeperson.
And so if your mindset's in thetrash, guess who's hyping you
up?
Maybe your parents.
But other than that, nobody.
You are your own secret weapon.

(10:53):
So if you can be on your own, ifyou can be on your own side,
right?
If you could be cheeringyourself on even when things are
hard, even when things seem likethey're not gonna come together.
Man, could you imagine what youcould create instead of talking
to yourself like some meanbully?
What if you just said, okay, that was a setback, but we can
keep going.
I have a plan.

(11:13):
Let's come up with a plan.
What can we do?
How can we achieve this faster?
How can we learn from thatlesson?
can we journal this?
Do we need to talk to atherapist?
Do we need to get our mindclear?
Like how can we keep going untilwe build this beautiful business
that we dreamed about?
The moment we picked up a cameraand told somebody, I am a
wedding photographer, I'm abusiness owner.

(11:34):
Okay?
So these are the five mindsets.
If you ever need a pep talk, listen to this.
There's so much more where thiscame from inside of my group
program that is launching soonand if you're like, whoa, I love
this, where can I get more?
