(00:06):
Hey friend, welcome back to thepodcast.
Okay.
I have a truth bomb for youtoday, so buckle up'cause we're
diving all the way in.
In working with my alumni andpeople who book my intensivess,
I keep getting asked, how do Istand out?
How do I book higher endclients, and how do I make
people actually choose me overeveryone else?
(00:29):
I'm so tired of feeling likesecond best, third best or worst
of all them just leaving me anemail saying, oh, we chose
somebody else.
But here's the thing, if youbrand your entire business on
you.
You the secret sauce, you thebrand, you become the
competitive edge because you'llbecome incomparable, which is
(00:52):
one of my favorite words if youhaven't noticed.
Not because you have a newcamera, not because you bought a
new preset and not because youfound the trending audio on
reels that actually took off.
And if you did, congratulations.
It's hard.
In the club today, we're talkingabout the one thing that
actually makes you.
Ghost proof, booking proof, recession proof, algorithm
(01:14):
proof, and that's your personalbrand and your overall identity
as an artist.
So let's start with the lie thatthe industry has told us that
your work alone will set youapart.
If you're not booked, it'sbecause you're not talented or
you're not good enough.
And yes, your work does matterand you should have top-notch
(01:36):
gear and you should photographsomebody's wedding with the best
of the best.
Don't get me wrong, but the ideathat you have to always focus on
what everyone else is doing inorder to be set apart in the
industry as a lie, that you needto shoot film to be a luxury
photographer is a lie.
If I have the perfect this, if Iupgrade that, if I shoot more of
(01:59):
this, if I change my style tothat, if I redo my website for
the billionth time this year, then everything's gonna click.
It's gonna happen for me.
But the truth is you're tryingto fix an identity problem with
technical solutions.
Like yes, if you do get theperfect preset, your pictures
will be better.
Does that necessarily meanyou'll get more inquiries?
No, and that's probably why it'snot working because these things
(02:22):
aren't the problem.
It's that you, the person behindthe camera, the human behind the
lens.
You haven't stepped up into yourfull identity as an artist yet.
You're not showing people whatmakes you different.
You're not showing your magic.
And guess what?
High-end couples can feel that.
(02:43):
Okay, let's be very real for asecond.
Couples don't only choose youbecause of your portfolio and
years of experience, and yourtalent, but they do remember how
it felt to be around you.
Your energy, your eye foremotion, your ability to make
them feel seen and the way thatyou and you alone capture their
(03:06):
story.
That is your personal brand.
That is your differentiator.
That is the one thing that noone else can copy.
And if it feels comfortable tohide behind trends or copying
whoever has a hundred Kfollowers right now.
You're losing focus of the onething that makes you you, the
(03:27):
one thing that makes youunforgettable.
You're hiding the thing thatmakes you incomparable.
Let me tell you a story Yearsago before I ever raised my
prices, oof.
How long ago was that?
Before I ever had a signaturestyle I remember, or before I
ever booked high-end couples Ihad a consultation with a couple
who told me something thatliterally changed my life, and
(03:49):
this is something that happensto all of my alumni inside of
Wedding Atelier because thefirst thing that we work on is
your messaging and your artiststory.
They said.
We've seen all thesephotographers.
We've been on so many websites,so many Instagrams, but your
work is what I've been lookingfor all along.
I feel like your personalitymeshes with ours.
(04:10):
We knew we wanted you from theget go, and then they repeated
my brand words back to me.
Your images feel like Vogue andeditorial.
They feel like a magazine, likeyour couples look like
celebrities.
But in that moment I realized,oh my gosh, the thing that I was
so scared to do, which was meshmy style together with
documentary meets editorialmeets traditional.
(04:32):
Is that I was the secret sauceall along and I was a serial
rerender.
I rebranded every six months toa year, and I changed my color
palette.
I changed my vibe, I changed myphotos, I bought them Dark and
moody, light and airy.
All of the presets you can thinkof.
I have them.
I probably still have them, butat the end of the day.
(04:53):
I always said, if I was myselfand I put together a style that
I, that doesn't exist at thetime, didn't exist, nobody's
going to connect with that.
Nobody's gonna book that theywant either or they want
documentary, they wanteditorial, they want traditional
posing.
I can't beat all of those thingsat once.
Can I?
And guess what?
(05:14):
When I did the dream, coupleskept coming, me, myself, my
signature style, my story, myperspective, my life, my
personality, everything that Ishared with them was what they
wanted.
And I realized that I wasn'tthat special.
I wasn't the only person whothought like me.
(05:34):
Actually, there was dozens anddozens that valued the same
exact things as I did.
And once I realized thateverything shifted, my content
changed, my brand changed mymessaging, changed my
confidence, changed my work, changed my booking, skyrocketed
to the point where I had to havea wait list for the following
year, and from then on, mybusiness only came up.
(05:59):
That's why I'm so passionateabout artists understanding
their own story because itreally does change everything.
Being yourself is the one thingthat nobody can copy because
every single thing that makesyou, even if people try to copy
your style, they still can'tcopy your personality, and if
they try to copy yourpersonality, they can't keep up
(06:19):
with it for long because it'snot theirs.
They're not gonna be able topredict your next move.
They always say.
Let them copy because they'realways five steps behind and
it's true.
And here's where mostphotographers lose their magic.
They compare themselves.
They copy trends.
They're captions sound likeeveryone else's.
Maybe they're putting'em inchat, GBT, they edit to please
(06:39):
the algorithm.
They're scared to show up andshow their personality and
Instagram stories.
'cause maybe it's cringe.
Maybe it feels cringe.
They hide behind their workinstead of standing in their
work, they're unsure of who theyare.
So their brand feels confusing, hand raised.
But here's the truth, if youfeel unclear, insecure, lost,
overwhelmed, guess what?
(07:00):
Your brand looks unclear, insecure, lost, and overwhelmed.
Your confidence is yourmagnetism.
Your clarity is your guidingcompass.
Your confidence in your identityis your sales engine.
Which brings me to this.
If you wanna stand out, reallystand out in this industry, you
(07:23):
need to know you.
By the time that this episodecomes out, my Black Friday deal
on.
The artist story, it's 50% offand we break down all of these
things.
It's good work that you will do,and now that it's slow season,
you have enough time to do itbecause you need to know your
story, your purpose, yoursignature style, your why, your
(07:45):
personality, your unique pointof view.
Your unique approach and how youwant people to feel when they
see your work.
That's the stuff that builds thebrand.
That's the stuff that peopletalk about, and that's what high
end couples want, honestly.
They want good work.
They wanna be seen.
They want to know exactly whatto expect, not that you just
(08:08):
threw something together andthey wanna be taken care of.
You don't need more weddings.
You need more identity.

what I'm missing, then stay veryclose this week.
