What truly happens when we choose to follow divine guidance instead of our own plans? This deeply reflective episode explores the profound benefits of "going with God" rather than against the spiritual current that's here to guide our lives.

Building on our previous exploration of barriers to spiritual surrender, I invite you to remember those pivotal moments when you listened to that quiet voice of truth within, followed it despite reservations, and witnessed the results. These moments of authentic spiritual choice aren't just random coincidences—they're glimpses into what's possible when we prioritize our most essential relationship, that with The One True Source.

I share my conviction that our connection with the divine constitutes "the only relationship that truly matters," forming the foundation for everything else in our lives. Unlike temporal relationships that change or end, this spiritual partnership offers consistent companionship throughout life's ups and downs. I reveal a deeply personal note I keep in my kitchen: "God says, 'Just stay with me...' And God's sentiment is that if you do go elsewhere, that's okay too, but 'come back to me,' God says.  'Always come back!'"—words that capture the unconditional nature of divine love.  God's always here waiting patiently to partner in union with us!

This episode acknowledges that following God's guidance doesn't eliminate suffering, but provides God's presence through all experiences. The present moment becomes our meeting place with the divine—"pure loving presence" available right now.

I encourage you to spend just five minutes reflecting on what benefits you've experienced when following rather than resisting spiritual guidance. Your answers might surprise you and transform how you approach this most essential relationship.

Sarah Haykel (00:05):
Hi and thanks for joining me on Welcoming God.
Hey, thanks for joining me,Sarah Haykel, here on Welcoming
God.
I am super excited about thisepisode because this piggy-tales

(00:25):
off of the previous episodeabout why it's difficult to go
with God.
What stops us?
This is the flip side of that, which I'm super excited about,
because it is just as importantas last week's inquiry, just as

(00:52):
important as last week's inquiry.
This week, I invite you to thinkabout and inquire what is
beneficial about following God'strue guidance, going with God,
staying with God, going with God, staying with God.
What is beneficial about that?
Where have you seen a moment inyour life where you have

(01:13):
listened, you have trusted thattruth within you from the one
true source, you followed it andyou've experienced the results.
What happened?
Can you write that down orpause this podcast for a few
moments and think about thattime and really get the goodness

(01:41):
of the benefit of staying withGod, following God's truth,
god's true guidance, even if itwasn't something you wanted to
do necessarily, but you chose itand you experienced something
from that.
So what was that?

(02:03):
So what was that?

(02:26):
Was it encouraging?
Did it make you want to do it?
More will find and benefit fromthis show.
Thanks so much, and let's getright back into it.
So I think this is such abeautiful way to cultivate the
most important relationship wewill ever, ever have in our

(02:47):
lives, which is with the onetrue source.
It's the only relationship tome that.
It's the only relationship thattruly matters.
I'm not going to be, I'm goingto just cut to the chase here,

(03:10):
not going to, you know, pussyfoot around this or try to
like, make it nice and pretty.
It is the one true source.
This relationship is the onerelationship that truly matters
and makes a difference in ourlives and everything else, all
of our other relationships, ourservice in the world, everything

(03:30):
that we do, that we love andbrings more joy to life, it all
comes from this one true sourceand our willingness to surrender
to it, to commune with it, toembrace it, to develop and
cultivate a truly consistent, loving, honest, clear, guided

(03:57):
relationship with it.
This is the most importantthing that we can do is
cultivate this relationship, because this is the one
relationship that's consistent.
Everything else will fall away.
This is the one thing we havethat will be consistent our

(04:17):
whole lives through, and thenwe'll see what happens when we
die.
So I'm going to leave you withthis.
And I wrote this down severalyears ago on a card and I have
it in my kitchen.
I pull it out from time to timeand it says God says, just stay

(04:39):
with me, with me, just staywith me, don't go anywhere else.
And if you do, that's okay too,but come back.
No-transcript that we couldever experience.

(05:06):
It's actually I'm feelingemotional just saying this,
because it speaks to thishonesty and this love that God
wants us so badly, so wholly, tojust trust it and just partner

(05:27):
with it and go with it, becauseit truly wants and has the best
for us.
And it doesn't take awaysuffering all the time.
It doesn't take away some ofthe challenges and natural
challenges of human life.
You know some people areexperiencing extraordinary

(05:52):
horror, harm, suffering rightnow.
Some are experiencingextraordinary joy, happiness,
bliss right now.
You know it runs the gamut andthis is a part of being human
and it sucks, but like we're onthe journey here together with
God, and I just know, truly know, god wants the best for me and

(06:19):
God wants the best for all of usin the whole of life, and it is
up to us to listen and respondto God, to God's true guidance
within, and that opens up awhole other conversation about

(06:39):
discernment.
How do we discern what's God'sguidance and how do we know what
we're following is the truth?
So that's another conversationI also wrote on this card.
When I am just here, in thepresent moment, this is where

(07:03):
the best things happen, and whyis that?
Because the present moment iswhere God is and it is love, it
is loving, it is purely here, loving presence now, and we'll

(07:24):
talk about that in the nextepisode.
Talk about that in the nextepisode.
So how will you just take a fewminutes today, whether it's
right now, I think that's best.
But if you don't have time, Iunderstand.
But sometime today, set areminder, set an alarm.
I'm going to take five minutesand sit with this question.
Going to take five minutes andsit with this question.

(07:48):
What is beneficial about goingwith God, not against, but with
this one true source that wantsmy best and all of life's best?
What is beneficial about this?
It has our best at heart, itsheart in its heart.

(08:09):
If we could say it had a heart,I don't know if that's true or
not, but what is beneficial?
And I just encourage you toenjoy this inquiry and just see
what comes up for you and see.
Have fun with this.
Enjoy this.
I'll see you on the nextepisode.

(08:31):
