He is also a therapy dog andgreeter at Element 5 Acupuncture

And I have a special episodefor you today, one that I'm
super excited about, because weare going to dive into a topic
that is often overlooked butincredibly powerful to your

(01:03):
holistic wellness journey, andthat is adventure.
Often, when we think of health,we usually focus on fitness,
nutrition and mental wellbeing, but did you know that adding a
little adventure into your lifecan transform your body, mind
and spirit in unexpected ways?
Well, in this episode, we'llexplore how embracing new

(01:24):
experiences and stepping outsideyour comfort zone can boost
your overall well-being and helpyou live more fully.
But before we get started, Ihave some great news to share
with all of you, for those avidlisteners who have tuned into
the podcast over the past year, you've likely caught wind of the
Wellness River Cruise.
Well, friends, the moment hasarrived.

(01:44):
Mark your calendars for April20th 2025, as we set sail on an
unforgettable seven night cruisealong the Danube river.
We'll traverse the picturesquelandscape of Austria, germany,
hungary and Slovakia.
Prepare for many activesightseeing adventures,
including invigorating hikes, scenic bike rides and a few
brisk runs, maybe Alongsidethese activities, indulge in the

(02:08):
serenity of yoga sessions, engage in enlightening wellness
discussions and savor theflavors of locally sourced
cuisine.
Excitement is already brewing,as several enthusiasts have
secured their spots.
For those intrigued, I'll putthe links in the show notes and,
if you're certain, thiswellness riverboat cruise is
calling your name, waste no timein securing your place aboard.

(02:29):
Riverboat cruises tend to fillup rapidly, so we shifted the
dates to next year instead ofthis year, so don't think about
it too long.
Seize this opportunity whileyou can.
In episodes 63 and 64, aJourney of Wellness and Wonder
on the Danube with AmmaWaterways, I had the pleasure of
having Laurie, a representativefrom Amma Waterways, and Tammy,

(02:51):
a seasoned travel concierge onthe podcast, to discuss the full
river cruise experience.
So feel free to check out thoseepisodes for more information,
and this has to happen quickly.
I know the cruise is early nextyear, but there are only 129
cabins on the boat and they sellout quickly, so if you're
interested, put your depositdown quickly.

(03:12):
It's not a lot to hold yourspot.
Okay, let's get started.
I want to talk about somethingthat might surprise you.
A key element in holisticwellness that often gets

(03:34):
overlooked is adventure.
Now, when we think about health, we usually focus on things
like physical fitness, nutritionand maybe some mental wellness
practices, but holistic healthand wellness is about so much
more than that.
It is about the mind, body andspirit working together in

(03:54):
harmony, and here's whereadventure comes in.
Adventure is an incredible wayto nourish all three of those
areas mind, body and spirit.
So let's dive into howexploring the world, stepping
outside your comfort zone andseeking new experiences can
truly transform your wellbeing.
First, I want to talk about thebody, the physical body, and how

(04:16):
adventure nourishes the body.
When we talk about adventure,we're not just talking about the
big, dramatic trips likeclimbing Mount Everest, although
that would definitely count, but it doesn't have to be that
grand, not even close.
Adventure can be anything thatchallenges your body in new ways
.
So, whether it's hiking, running on unfamiliar trails or

(04:40):
even trying something likepaddle boarding or a new yoga
class.
Adventure pushes you to movedifferently, test your limits
and activate muscles you mightnot even know you had.
And for those of you who arealready physically active,
adding a bit of adventure cantake things to a whole nother
level.
It's about pushing your body'sendurance, strength and

(05:01):
flexibility in ways that feelsfresh and exciting.
And another added bonusadventure often takes place
outdoors, which means you aresoaking in the sunshine,
breathing fresh air and givingyour immune system a little
boost.
But the real magic happens whenyou're fully present.
So think about the last timeyou were hiking through a forest

(05:23):
, running on a new trail, climbing rocks or just swimming
in the ocean.
Didn't it make you feel moreconnected to your body?
You see, adventure heightensyour body awareness, and that
connection can influence how youtake care of yourself moving
forward.
How does that sound?
All right, let's go to the mind.
So adventure engages the mind.

(05:46):
So adventure isn't just aworkout for your body, it's a
workout for your mind too.
Did you think about that?
When you're out there exploringnew places and learning new
skills, your brain is workinghard.
That's why it's so exhausting.
You're problem solving, adapting to new situations and
breaking free from the usualroutine.
So this kind of mentalengagement can reduce stress and

(06:09):
anxiety, clear up mental fogand help you feel focused and
alive.
One of the most powerful aspectsof adventure is how it helps
you embrace the unknown.
You see, you don't know exactlywhat's going to happen on your
adventure.
You have an idea of what mighthappen, but you don't know
exactly what's going to happenon your adventure.

(06:31):
But that's the beauty of it.
So, whether it's a new country,a new hobby or just a different
route to work, stepping intothe unknown builds resilience
and confidence.
Each time you face a newchallenge or experience, you
come out a little strongermentally, more flexible
emotionally and more confidentin your ability to handle

(06:53):
whatever life throws your way.
How does that sound?
Now I want to talk aboutsomething a little deeper, and
it's how adventure can awakenyour spirit and holistic health
and wellness.
We can forget about thespiritual side of things, and
adventure has a special way ofnurturing that.

(07:14):
So think about moments of awethat you've had while exploring
maybe watching the sunrise overa mountain, standing at the edge
of an ocean or experiencing anew culture.
Those moments connect you tosomething bigger, something
beyond your daily life.
Adventure can give usperspective.
It reminds us that there's moreto life than our everyday

(07:36):
stresses and routines.
Whether you're trekking througha forest or trying a new
activity for the first time, adventure helps you reconnect
with yourself and find meaningin your experiences.
For many, adventure becomes aspiritual practice, a chance to
step outside the noise of dailylife and tune into yourself and
the world around you.

(07:57):
It's a time for reflection,gratitude and growth.
So you're probably wonderinghow does adventure fit into a
holistic routine?
Well, remember, it's all aboutbalance.
Holistic health meansintegrating the body, mind and
spirit, and adventure touches onall three.
It challenges you physically, stimulates you mentally and

(08:20):
awakens your spirit.
It encourages you to live fully, to engage with the world in
ways that bring you joy andfulfillment.
But remember, you don't have toembark on some grand life
changing expedition to reap thebenefits.
You can find adventure in theeveryday.
I call these micro adventures.

(08:40):
Let's go on a microure todaySmall but meaningful experiences
that can be as simple as tryinga new hiking trail, exploring a
different neighborhood or justcooking a dish from a culture
you're curious about.
Okay, so what I want to do nowis I want to get into some
practical ways to add adventureto your life.

(09:02):
So, if you're curious aboutdoing this, there's some very
simple, easy ways to add alittle more adventure to your
life.
Number one try something new.
Try something new every day.
This could be signing up for anew fitness class, trying a new
hobby or learning a new skillAnything that sparks your

(09:24):
curiosity and gets you out ofyour usual routine.
Number two get outdoors.
Nature is the ultimateplayground for adventure,
whether it's hiking, kayaking orjust taking a walk in a nearby
park.
Being in nature reduces stressand helps you connect to the
present moment.
I talk about biophilic all thetime on this podcast.
Number three travel when youcan.

(09:46):
You don't need to go far.
Sometimes the best adventuresare in your own backyard, so
plan a day trip or visit a newspot in your town.
Travel shifts your perspectiveand opens you up to new
experiences.
Number four challenge yourselfphysically.
Set a new fitness goal.
So, whether it's running a 10K,hiking a mountain or trying a

(10:06):
new sport, pushing your physicallimits builds confidence and
helps you tap into your innerstrength.
And, last but not least, practice mindfulness.
I talk about this a lot, too, when you're out there having
these adventures I talk aboutthis a lot too when you're out
there having these adventures, take a moment to really be
present, soak in the beauty ofyour surroundings, breathe

(10:34):
deeply and reflect on what theexperience is teaching you.
And there you have it, my fivetips on adding adventure to your
life.
Now, I know these seem simple, but I promise if you pick one to
do it, you'll see what I'mtalking about.
And for all of you adventureseekers that are out there
listening to this podcast andyou're already doing this I want
to suggest to you the fifth tipin practicing mindfulness,

(10:57):
because sometimes we're justmoving on to the next thing and
onto the next thing and onto thenext thing, and we're really
not, you know, being mindful andintegrating that experience
into to who you are.
And I think there's a lot lefton the table where we're just
onto the next, onto the next, onto the next.
So if you are already out thereseeking adventure, so if you are

(11:24):
already out there seekingadventure, please, you know, be,
be mindful about it all andreally just milk and juice that
experience in any way that youcan and integrate that back into
your life because it really istransforming.
So we're going to wrap it uphere.
So I just want to summarizeeverything and say that you know
, at the heart, adventure isabout growth growth of the body,

(11:46):
mind and spirit.
And by incorporating adventuresinto your life, you'll find new
ways to nourish yourself on alllevels.
It's a journey ofself-discovery, pushing
boundaries and, most importantly, living fully.
So, whether your adventure isas simple as trying a new dish
or as bold as backpacking acrossa foreign country, remember

(12:09):
it's about connecting withyourself and the world in a way
that promotes real,transformative wellbeing.
All right, my friends, that's awrap for today.
I hope this inspires you toembrace a little more adventure
in your life and to see how itcan enhance your holistic
wellness journey.
So until next time, stay welland keep exploring.
