titled Cultural Shift.
Lulu Lemon's Global WellnessReport Finds Wellbeing Burnout.
(01:47):
Hold on here.
How are we getting burned outon wellness.
Having wellness as an intentionand pursuit should not be
burning us out.
We should be living morehealthy, vital lives because of
it.
So you can see how this articlecaught my attention.
So today we're going to explorehow an adventurous mindset can
(02:08):
shift the way we approachwellness and make it a more
fulfilling, sustainable practice.
But before we jump in, for allthose avid listeners who have

It's not a lot to hold yourspot.
(03:34):
Okay, let's get started.
I recently read an articlewritten by SGB media titled
cultural shift Lulu lemonsglobal wellness report finds
(03:55):
wellbeing burnout.
Lulu lemons report shines aspotlight on a growing issue, an
issue I didn't even know washappening Wellbeing burnout.
While 89% of people are findingnew ways to enhance their
health fantastic the relentlesspressure to keep up can lead to
a counterproductive cycle ofstress and fatigue.
I can see that, and nearlytwo-thirds of the respondents in
(04:18):
the report felt overwhelmed bysocietal expectations to look or
act well, and over half wereconfused by conflicting advice
on what wellness should looklike.
Well, that leads us to afundamental question how can we
prevent the pursuit of wellnessfrom becoming yet another source
of stress?
(04:38):
So first, before we jump in, Iwant to address what wellness
looks and feels like.
Wellness is not a trend.
Wellness is not what marketersthink you need.
Wellness is not whatinfluencers think you need.
It is not a one size fits all.
Wellness is freedom.
It is ease in your body as youwake up feeling refreshed and
(04:59):
energized.
It is the lightness in yourstep, the clarity in your mind,
the joy that bubbles upeffortlessly.
Wellness is your body moving inperfect harmony, strong and
capable, carrying you exactlywhere you want to go.
Wellness is feeling nourishedby food, movement and deep
breaths of fresh air.
It's knowing your body is wise, that it speaks to you and that
(05:23):
you are always listening.
Wellness is trust trust in yourchoice, that it speaks to you
and that you are alwayslistening.
Wellness is trust trust in yourchoice, trust in your body and
trust that you're always beingguided to what feels right for
you.
It's the glow on your skin, thestrength in your legs, the
steadiness in your heart.
It's the deep, full breaststhat fill your lungs, the
laughter that rises up from yoursoul.
It is the warmth on your face, the coolness of the breeze, the
(05:46):
way nature and you are in sync, always connected, always in tune
.
Wellness is ease, it's flow,it's knowing you don't have to
chase it, force it or figure itall out at once.
It's natural, it's unfolding,it's coming together and perfect
timing.
Wellness is adventure.
It's unfolding, it's comingtogether and perfect timing.
Wellness is adventure.
It's curiosity, it's trying newthings, following what excites
(06:08):
you and knowing that every stepis leading you to greater
vitality.
It's letting go of the rulesand expectations and instead
feeling your way toward whatlights you up.
Wellness is joy, it's laughter,it's the deep knowing that your
body is thriving and that everycell is working for you, that
(06:29):
you're always moving towardsgreater wellbeing.
That is wellness, my friends.
Well, at least wellness to me.
I encourage you to think aboutwhat wellness means to you,
because it is different foreverybody, but I have to
probably guess that wellness isa freedom for most people.
Whatever that freedom feelslike to you, write it out,
(06:51):
because that's what you're goingfor.
So, with all of that said, howdo you know what wellness looks
and feels like for you?
Well, wellness is anexploration, and here's where
adopting an adventurous mindsetcomes into play.
Instead of grabbing at everywellness trend marketed by
influencers or companies, thisapproach invites you to explore
(07:13):
what works for you.
Think of wellness as a journeyof discovery, an ongoing
practice that is unique to you.
So here are some foundationalaction steps that you can take.
So, first, I think it's reallyimportant that you know your why
.
So start by asking yourself whywellness matters to you.
Are you seeking more energy, better focus or simply a greater
(07:36):
sense of peace?
So knowing your why providesclarity and helps anchor your
efforts into personal meaning, making the process more
rewarding, so you don't getburned out.
And I think it's also importantto discover what feels right
for you.
Not every wellness trend willwork for everyone.
What energizes one person mayexhaust another will work for
(07:59):
everyone.
What energizes one person mayexhaust another.
And this is where the work ofexploration comes in Sample
different practices, reflect onhow they make you feel and let
curiosity guide you into aroutine that aligns with your
needs and values.
And the last pillar of strengthhere is embrace wellness as a
practice.
This is an ongoing uh, ongoinglifetime process.
(08:21):
It's a practice.
Just as an adventurer continuesexploring, your wellness
journey will evolve over time.
Accepting this can take thepressure off of achieving some
elusive state of perfection andmake the process more enjoyable
and less burnout.
Okay, those are my pillars ofof strength that you need to
(08:42):
have in place before you evenstart this process.
So what I want to do now is.
I want to give you someactionable steps that you can
take to help prevent burnout andembrace this adventurous
mindset.
Number one quiet the noise.
One of the major contributorsto wellbeing.
Burnout is an overwhelmingamount of societal noise.
(09:04):
So how do you break free fromthis?
Well, one you want to setboundaries, so limit your time
on social media and be selectiveabout the content you consume.
I don't remember which episodeit was, but I had Istra Bauza on
.
She's been on twice.
I love her.
She's an athlete and mentalhealth counselor and she deals a
lot with menopausal athletes.
(09:24):
And we talked about body image.
As you get older and hittingthe perimenopause and menopause,
your body starts to shift, andso we talked about curating your
social media feed.
She practices this and I justfound it such a great tip to
(09:47):
curate what you're seeing right, because you have the ability to
do that.
You know, once you search forsomething, those are the things
that you keep seeing.
The algorithms pick that up.
So you just curate that and youpick the things that have a
positive impact on you.
That's one way to set theboundaries.
You don't let all the otherstuff in.
You just don't let whatever isout there come in.
You be very selective in that.
Another way to quiet the noiseis to practice mindful
(10:09):
meditation.
You guys know how much I lovemindfulness and I promote it all
the time on this podcast, so Ithink it's super important to
spend a few minutes each daycentering yourself with mindful
breathing or guided meditationor both.
It helps quiet externalinfluences and reconnect with
your inner compass.
Okay, number two schedule timefor reflection.
(10:33):
I love this one, too.
Dedicate a few minutes dailyjournaling or again meditating.
Go deep, explore, discover.
I know there are some greatinsights in there for all of you
, so use this time to check inwith your goals and your
feelings.
What is it in your life thatyou need to be more well?
(10:55):
Also, gratitude is power, sowrite five things you are
grateful for.
That encourages you to focus onwhat you have instead of what
you lack.
Number three I love this one.
I love all of these.
Try something new, Take a class, explore a new trail, experiment
with a different form ofmovement.
Approach it with curiosityrather than expectation.
(11:17):
I think so many times we takeon a new wellness task or
wellness discovery and we gointo it with an expectation
instead of going into it with acuriosity, right, very different
perspectives and you're goingto get different outcomes.
So if you go into a new classwith how am I going to feel
after this class?
(11:38):
Right, like how, how is, how,is my body going to respond to
this class?
Who are the people that I'mgoing to meet, you know, go into
it with this curiosity.
Instead of this, oh, I'm goingto go to this class and I'm
going to lose five pounds andI'm going to love every single
bit of it.
You know cause?
You just don't know when you'retrying something new, that
curiosity is such an importantpiece right Of that exploration.
(12:01):
Um, number four buddy system.
Invite others to join along soyou can join a group activity,
connect with a wellnesscommunity.
But moving with others canfoster a sense of connection and
purpose.
So, matter, no matter what youdecide to do.
Okay.
Number five pace yourself.
Break your goals into small, achievable steps and celebrate
(12:23):
each milestone along the way.
I think this pacing yourself issuch a critical piece because we
kind of just take on all.
We get so excited.
You take on all these things atone time and you have all of
these expectations and nothingworks out and then you, just one
(12:43):
, feel like a failure.
You feel confused.
You feel like, why am I evendoing this?
So I can't express this oneenough to pace yourself.
You tell runners this all thetime pace yourself.
You don't want to start out toofast, you don't want to start
out too slow.
You need to find that placewhere you can just move along,
(13:06):
try new things, be refreshed andnot overwhelmed and exhausted.
Okay so, and then the last one.
You guys know how much I lovenature here.
Spend time in nature.
Yeah, you can't go wrong withthis.
Even a short walk outside canreset your perspective and boost
(13:27):
your wellbeing.
So if you're feelingoverwhelmed, there's nothing
better than a hike, a walk.
It could be around town, itcould be on a trail, it can be
in the mountains, it can be onthe beach.
You cannot go wrong spendingtime in nature.
There are so many studies on thebenefits, the health benefits,
(13:47):
of spending time in nature.
There is a Japanese forestbathing and they have done tons
of studies on forest bathing.
Walking through the forest, smelling the aromas, you know
the tactile, so touching theleaves, taking it all in, but
really being present.
You can't be there.
Thinking about, you know youremails and who you're going to
(14:11):
respond to next, like you reallyneed to immerse yourself in
that experience and the healthbenefits are incredible.
The Hinoki cypress tree inJapan.
They have found that whenpeople walk through the forest
the essential oils come off theHinoki cypress trees and
actually have health benefits ofstrengthening the immune system
(14:34):
.
It's amazing.
I mean, as long as you're notbeing chased by a bear, you know
, if you can immerse yourselfinto an experience, then you
really can't go wrong and thatwill take pressure off of you.
It's it.
It calms the nervous systemdown.
So if you're feelingoverwhelmed, if you're feeling
burned out, go spend some timein nature.
(14:55):
Huge, huge advocate for forthat.
Okay, I'm going to wrap this upsoon, but I want to give a plug
here for coaching, because whenI read the title and then read
the article, I just keptthinking what a great
opportunity for coaching.
Feeling stuck, overwhelmed orif you're unsure where to start,
(15:18):
this is where wellness coachingreally comes in, because a
wellness coach can help you cutthrough the noise, define your
why and guide you in creating apersonalized roadmap that aligns
with your values and yourlifestyle, instead of listening
to influencers and marketers andother companies.
So, with the right support, wellness becomes less about
(15:40):
keeping up and more about whattruly brings you joy and balance
.
And as a coach, I'm here tohelp you uncover your unique
path.
So if you're interested, giveme a call.
I can answer any of yourquestions and together we'll
explore new possibilities andturn wellness into an exciting,
sustainable adventure.
(16:01):
No burnout required here,promise.
Okay.
So just some closing thoughtsreally quickly.
Wellness burnout it's a realchallenge.
I do believe that I see it.
But adopting an adventurousmindset, you can reclaim your
health journey and make itsomething joyful and fulfilling.
So remember, wellness isn'tabout ticking off the boxes or
(16:23):
chasing trends.
It's about exploring what makesyou feel alive and well, one
step at a time.
