Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello friends,
welcome back to Wealthy
Generation Podcast W-E-L-L-T-H-Y.
Today's episode is going to beabout me practicing what I
preach.
The truth is that if we do nottend to our bodies and listen to
(00:21):
the signs that it's giving us,then it can spiral, it can make
us really sick and unwell andthat is never fun.
And, as someone who that's whatI teach my clients, that's what
I try to help them understandhow to listen to their body and
(00:43):
how to take action on that itwould be outside of my integrity
and my values to not do thatfor myself, and I am human, so
it is easy for me not to, Iguess, practice what I preach
and just keep on going.
But I want to be fullytransparent that I'm really not
(01:07):
trying to do that, like nottrying to push through and just
listen, especially in a momentwhere I have the opportunity to
rest.
With that said, I will betaking a break from the podcast
for the month of July 2025.
I may be recording things, butI'm not going to be posting
(01:29):
things on there, because I amtrying to rest as much as I can,
because the fact that I amhonestly kind of burnt out at
the moment is affecting me in afew different ways is affecting
my creativity, is affecting mymood, it's affecting my, I guess
(01:54):
, desire to show up.
Sometimes.
To be quite honest with you,the I did not.
I think I did an episode aboutthis a few weeks ago where I
spoke about also feeling burntout and taking a bit of a break
but I feel like I've just beenkind of, you know, like when
(02:18):
you're at the beach I don't knowif you've been to the beach,
but like kind of getting knockeddown over and over and over
again.
Um, that's kind of what it'sfelt like for me and I'm I just
I'm stopping myself right nowfrom minimizing my lived
experience and my circumstancesbecause I was going to go into
(02:41):
oh, you know, like is not as badas other people might have or
what other people areexperiencing, which is 100%,
absolutely true.
I also want to hold space formyself, also just acknowledging
and validating that in mycurrent lived experience, I am
also tired and I am alsodeserving of whatever I need to
(03:04):
meet my own needs right and forme to get better.
Because, as I've been preachingthese past few months, if we're
not taking care of ourselves, then it's really hard to show up
for other people and I love theway that I show up for you and
my community and my clients andI want to continue doing that.
(03:26):
Right?
So I was saying that I just feellike I've been like
continuously getting knockeddown one time after another,
with starting like back in Marchwhen I got COVID for two weeks
and then I ended up spraining myankle.
Um, and then in the past monthI've been dealing with yeast
(03:51):
infection in my body, which hasbeen super annoying.
It has been exhausting, um, itis trying to figure it out and
go to doctor's appointments andtalk to other wellness
practitioners in the middle ofone of the busiest months for me
and just pushing through andpulling through because there's
(04:16):
just so much going on whilefeeling so insanely
uncomfortable in my body hastaken a lot right and I'm like I
currently just got my period ontop of that.
So it was just so much Um andI'm I am tired.
Your girl is tired.
Like I said, everything isbeing affected in the moment.
(04:37):
I have like two to do lists infront of me right now that I
want to get done, actually threefor my business, but it's it's
so insanely hard because it'sit's taking so much from me to
get this work done.
(04:57):
Now, I mentioned the stuff thatwas going on with myself, but
there's also an insane amount ofstuff with family going on as
well.
In the month of June is both mykids birthdays, is also my
nephew's birthday and hiscelebration my kids celebration
is also the end of the schoolyear, which, if you're a parent
(05:19):
with school age kids, there'slike events popping off left and
right this celebration, thatcelebration, this thing and that
thing.
So making space and time forthat.
Also, my son graduated thefifth grade this year as well,
so his graduation and experienceright and being there for that,
(05:43):
one of my sons were required tobe there on his field trips.
So also the end of school year,no more tests and formal
instruction happening in theclassroom.
So they have a million and onetrips.
One of my sons also has weeklytherapy appointments and then
(06:04):
they were also due for theirdentist appointment and their
eye doctor appointment and it'sjust been back to back to back,
coupled with weather that's notso great here in New York city,
with a lot of gray days, a lotof rainy days, now a heat wave,
and then you know regular oldthings like let's plan out meals
(06:27):
and what are we eating and whenare we resting and trying to
take care of myself.
So I don't know if you're tiredyet from me sharing this, but I
sure am tired.
So I'm really like tomorrow, orI'm recording this on a
Wednesday.
So tomorrow, thursday, whenthis episode comes out, today, I
(06:52):
guess, is the last day ofschool here in New York City,
because it takes forever to endschool here public school,
because of all of the holidaybreaks that they get, which is
fun, but then it requires us tobe in school for a very, very
long time.
So today is finally the lastday of school and I feel like I
(07:18):
just want to like collapse atmaking it through June, because
I feel like I deserve acelebration.
We all deserve a celebration, because it's just been so much
back to back and it's hard toappropriately rest.
And it's hard to appropriatelyrest when my immune system is
(07:40):
fighting so hard and my mind isgoing a mile a minute.
So that's why it was like Ineed to give cut some things out
, I need to give myself somespace to just be and, because I
have so many episodes, I decidedthat it was a great like an
(08:04):
opportunity to take a break fromum being creative in this sense
.
But what you will get isrecommendations for episodes to
listen to while I'm resting, because there are so many great
episodes that are on here andI've kind of created four
(08:27):
buckets for you to go toepisodes on topics that you
might be interested in, and someof the topics that, or buckets
of topics, you will be seeing,is episodes on hormones and
hormone health, with tips, episodes on my clients and their
(08:47):
personal experience with me,one-on-one coaching and their
personal experience and why theydecided that they wanted to
invest in something like foodand hormone health coaching with
me and the kinds of resultsthat they've received.
So if you're at all curious andwant to hear from another
(09:08):
person and feel seen and heardand validated, those are great
episodes to listen to.
There's also going to be abucket on wellness culture right
, wellness culture specificallyfor us people of color, and what
that looks like.
There's so much, I think, misconceptions and traumas and
just one-sided ways of maybethinking about wellness or
(09:33):
executing wellness that it keepsus stuck and it just doesn't
maybe align with the currentseason that you're in or the
current country that you're in,right, your current situation.
So there's going to be tips onthat.
And then the last one will beon mindset, right, and it's
either going to be mindset orguess how to think about
(09:54):
wellness.
How can you approach it?
How can we change our mindaround it?
Which kind of falls in line, more or less, with wellness
culture?
But more or less those are goingto be the buckets that you're
going to be receiving via email.
If you're not on my email list,I invite you to join.
You can go to my website, naomijaurascom the link is in
(10:18):
the show notes here and you cango ahead and join my email list
there to keep informed as towhat is happening.
So that's basically the gist ofit.
Your girl is tired.
Send me a nice text, show mesome love, um, and I really do
(10:39):
think it's a really good timefor me to reflect and just make,
maybe, decisions or get mycreativity back from by creating
some space for myself, um, todo that.
And if you haven't dealt withburnout or being extremely
(11:02):
exhausted, it's not somethingthat is solved from one day to
the next.
It's not something that'ssolved with a spa day or a face
mask.
It can help and it can be partof the process, however, really
resting your nervous system andyour body and your mind and your
(11:22):
spirit and your soul takes time.
It takes time and me not havingto do long commutes for two
months or so while the kids arenot in school and kind of having
a different schedule and beingsummer season.
I think it's a good time to dothat, because sometimes during
(11:47):
the school year it feels likethere's sometimes no space for
that.
I know I can create the spaceand I'm extremely lucky and
fortunate to be an entrepreneurand make decisions of maybe I
will work one day or not, butsometimes it's really actually
not that simple.
(12:07):
There's a lot to think about.
As I said, I have I have threeto do lists in front of me right
now that I would love to getdone.
I have, um, you know, eventsthat I'm trying to plan.
I also need to generate revenue, like.
This is my livelihood, this ishow I support myself and my
family, and those are a lot ofstressors that go on that happen
(12:33):
in the entrepreneur's mind.
Um, that hangs over us, inaddition to let me create
something to post on Instagram, right, or a newsletter or a
podcast episode.
So I'm just honestly sharingthis in full transparency as
someone I would share with aclose friend.
The great news is and it'ssomething that I also help my
(12:58):
clients with is buildingawareness around that and
building the safety to takeaction on it, because a past
version of myself, or a fewyears ago, this would have
turned into a really big dealwhere I felt like I couldn't do
it because I was failing oreverything would fall apart.
(13:19):
But in fact it is the oppositeright and I'm sharing it.
In case you are in a similarposition of feeling totally
burnt out and maybe feelingguilty or a certain type of way
about taking a break from yourlife, taking a break from
certain things and not evenallowing yourself the
(13:41):
opportunity of how are you goingto do that, because you feel
like you just need to keeppushing through and doing the
next big thing.
But, as something that I knowand I also share with my clients
, it becomes so unproductive andso like, not in line with what
you're actually trying to do,because you literally cannot
(14:05):
think like I literally cannotthink.
So it becomes this cycle of mekind of like shaming myself for
sitting in front of my computer, for sitting in front of this
microphone or my phone andtrying to create more, create,
create, create when there isnothing to create from.
Therefore, nothing comes outand you're like I just wasted my
(14:29):
time, I can't do this, I suck,or all these like colorful
thoughts and words that mightcome out to describe how we're
actually feeling, but in reality, it's not the moment to do
those things, because what youactually need is a change of
pace, is some rest, is to be inyour real life, doing things in
(14:54):
nature, sitting outside, playingwith your kids or whatever it
is or not and and just restingsitting on the couch, um,
watching reruns of your favoriteshow.
So, yeah, that's that's where Iam right now, and I wanted to
share that because I didn't wantto just like leave you hanging
(15:15):
as to what was happening.
Know that if you're on my emaillist, you're going to get
recommendations of what shows tocatch up on.
If that's something that youwant to do while you are on your
break, what you can do if, uh,you feel called to as well, is,
you're absolutely welcome tobook a free consultation call.
(15:38):
If you want to talk more aboutwellness, talk more about having
a better relationship with food, a better relationship with
exercise, what does wellnesseven look like for you?
Not understanding how yourbody's communicating with you
and how to spot these signs ofwhat's happening and meeting
(16:03):
yourself where you are.
Okay, I think a lot of timeswhen we're feeling a certain
type of way that we need to, youknow, fix ourselves or
something, we lean on.
Things like, oh, let me go fora spa day or let me just sleep
in today, but essentially thatdoes not solve the bigger
(16:24):
problem.
It does not necessarily allowyou to feel better for the long
term.
Okay, so I hope that thisserved you in some sort of way.
I hope that you feel seen.
I hope that you're meetingyourself where you are.
I am still here for you, um, andto support you and help guide
(16:47):
you in whatever way you need.
Help guide you in whatever wayyou need.
I look forward to yourconsultation call.
If you decide to book one, mycalendar is up to date, so where
you find a space on there inJuly or in August, you're
welcome to book that.
I am excited to talk to you andstart supporting you in a
(17:08):
personalized way that is fittingto you and your life, that gets
you results long-term.
That you understand how to beconsistent.
Work on that consistency right.
It's one of the number onecomplaints.
I'm not consistent in mywellness journey or in my food
or exercise or whatever it is,and that's just because there's
(17:28):
a few steps in between whateveryou're doing and the point where
we reach consistency, alsodefining what consistency means
for you and your life.
I think that's really importantso that you're not on this
cycle that keeps repeatingitself.
Cool, all right.
(17:49):
So I will see y'all with afresh episode in July.
In the meantime, we'll shareepisodes to catch up on and, if
anything, I'll see you on aconsultation call.
I hope you're having a greatsummer and I will see y'all in
August.
(18:09):
Bye.
