(00:09):
Channel 3 is the future. Welcome crew to one of your 3A
(00:29):
Channel 3 podcast. That's not doing any of the
normal stuff that we're doing. We're we're just, we're off the
rails all together. It's going to be an entirely
different thing. I'm just going to tell you that
Ray's here. I'm him here.
I'm going to start doing the introduction stuff though,
because again, we're just, we'replaying fast and loose with
this. We're here.
Well, we have a we have a returning guest of sorts, Tony
(00:50):
Marino. You know him as Gonk Show dad.
We've had him on here before as his, as his gaming alter ego
Gonk Show dad. But we probably just called you
Tony during the course of that. I think you're one that we we
played fast and lose normally wewe avoid the doxing.
We just go with the gamertag. But you just like, Nah, you, you
just kind of you, you flow both personalities.
Out. Yeah, and Tony's easier to say.
(01:11):
Less less syllables. Yeah, it's saying, it's saying
you have to really enunciate gong to make sure nothing goes
wrong there. So it's just, it's just easier
to say Tony. But Tony, Tony is here in a
slightly different capacity. And beyond just being a gamer,
Tony has crossed over. He has brought his gaming life
and he has brought his professional therapist life
(01:32):
together. He has set up an account on
Channel 3 for Click services, which we're going to talk about
here today. We're going to talk about an
event they have coming up here. I'm just going to tell everybody
at the top you can go to C3 dot GG slash click.
It will take you directly to thepage set up there.
You can also go to clickservices.org to go directly
to the organization's website. An organization, just everyone's
(01:56):
aware it's a 5O13C, it's a public charity.
It's a not-for-profit whatever terminology you want to use.
Founded by Doctor Fred Elnance, junior founder.
He's the CEO. And you you want to tell us a
little bit about what Click is all about here?
Yeah. So the long short of it, it's
really bringing, I should say itfocus.
(02:16):
It's, it's not just video games,it's really STEM classes in
general, technology classes geared towards underprivileged
individuals, not just kids, but individuals of the programs for
15 and older. So bringing STEM classes to
lower underprivileged individuals and lower
socioeconomic areas. It's in the Chicagoland area,
(02:37):
specifically the offices in Chicago Heights.
But you know, it many service many counties and cities in the
area. But it's really just I, it's
something, you know, when I saw it for the first time, is really
kind of grabbed my attention when I saw the little AD
(02:57):
requiring an E sports instructor.
Then the more I looked into it, the more I liked it and I had
the interview and I got the, I got the job.
I mean, it's, it's nothing much really.
Only like 10 hours a week for me, but it's still it's really
fun. They they couldn't have asked
for anything better, though, from a background perspective,
for for someone with your background that you get, you get
(03:17):
both sides of things that I I don't even know if that's.
What they're? Aiming for but they, they, they.
You probably helped out a little.
More probably not. Yeah, Yeah, it's been really
cool because like I said, DoctorNance has that, that psychology
background. Really, there's a lot of
different, a lot of the instructors there, you know,
different backgrounds, differentexperiences.
(03:40):
I'm just glad to bring my yeah, I'm not an E sports professional
by any means, but it's really more than just E sports, what
we're trying to do. So when you're in your role
here, you say you're doing 10 hours a week and you're you're
meeting with these individuals. Is it always online?
Do you meeting with them? No, Yeah.
(04:00):
So we have a classroom. It's in the city, Chicago
Heights. It's about maybe 20 minutes
South of Chicago. So we do have a classroom.
Not everyone utilizes the classroom, obviously, and people
would prefer to do online, whichis, you know, understandable.
However, I mean the classes get it out.
(04:21):
We have 14 laptops. They're all gaming laptops.
I think a 3060 video card. That's the, I think I5, you
know, not the greatest processor, but I mean every game
you play, you know, 10-8, they run most games, 1080 PA 120
Hertz just fine, which is all I can ask for for a gaming laptop
(04:41):
nowadays. Tony's upset.
It's not, you know, 3025 frames per second, but.
He's got, he's got to. Look at something in 30 FPS like
immortal. It is I feel like I'm back on my
feel like I'm back like 2019 May.
Mayzel's been be back on ACRT with ray tracing.
Tracing like. But yeah, but the laptops work
(05:04):
though. I mean they're they're legit
gaming laptops. We I mean, I have to tweak the
settings of course, but I mean we're playing rocket league.
We're running rocket league at 10 eighty 140 frames.
We're doing Fortnite. I got the settings right to do
1080 at 140 frames. You know, we have discord on all
of them. We got the games preloaded on
(05:25):
them and that's just for the E sports stuff.
That's not even talking about the video production class that
we have and all the programs that are on for the apps that
are on there software's on there, a music production
program with the music software,a coding class, and there's also
a streaming class where they teach, you know, how to stream
an OBS and stuff like that too. Yeah, if anybody has, go to the
(05:45):
website and you can just take a look.
There's a really good introduction video and you can
see what the classroom looks like.
You could you could see Tony even feed.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I happened to teach a class
while they were filming. It was before the class started,
so it was me and another guy in there who were kind of the quote
UN quote students during during the video.
(06:08):
But you can see it's, I mean, it's a, it's a real deal.
I mean, it's like a lot of places you go into and, and, and
again, you know, you talked about there's the coding,
there's the, the video production.
There's, there's a lot more. I mean, even just some of the,
you know, the, the trauma therapy, things like that, that
are taking place there too. But like you look at and you
look at a lot of photos and videos or if you've been to some
E sports facilities. No, this, this is exactly what
(06:30):
you guys have set up there. Yeah, yeah, it is.
It is like it's just a really awesome set up.
Definitely. It's a kind of a it's been a
little bit on the fly just kind of changing things up.
Yeah, just changing around the classroom a little bit, making
it a little more E sports centric.
Yeah, trying to convince them torun Ethernet cables along the
(06:51):
walls so we don't have to play in Wi-Fi anymore, you know, just
just things like that. But I mean, I guess I'm.
Again, the E sport, the E sport side of Tony's coming out.
What do you mean? No, we are not running this on
Wi-Fi. This is not.
That's not how this is going to work.
Yeah, so surprisingly though, wewe stream, we've been streaming
all of our classes every day from 4:00 AM to 8:00 or 4:00 PM
(07:13):
to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday on Twitch, YouTube,
Facebook. And we're trying to get the
followers on TikTok to go there too.
There's still some, some bugs wehave to work out 'cause we,
we've been using Restream and Restream is kind of, it's cool.
Like the concept is cool but I we've been having some problems
(07:35):
like the chats. And it gets spread a little
thin. Yeah, like it says we're live on
Twitch, but then when you click on our Twitch link, it says
we're offline. It's the weirdest thing.
So there's some things we got totweak with that.
But otherwise, yeah, the goal was to right now, like, you
know, just spreading, Just spreading our program as much as
we can with everyone. You know, like I said, it's kind
(07:58):
of somewhat a little new from what I understand.
You know, they're doing everything before me, but it
was, you know, kind of like a little slower.
Now things are trying to pick up.
We actually have a partnership with a high school in the area
for 25 students to come in between the ages of 15 and 17.
(08:18):
So they will be coming in to theclassroom starting October 21st
and that'll be super cool because it's going to be focused
on career building essentially for these students.
So I know we're teaching them STEM classes like music video E
sports. So it'll be really cool to kind
(08:39):
of teach some of that technological side to to these
kids. So as I say, the next, the next
step like you're doing there is to actually reach out to schools
and kind of become part of theirprograms.
I know a lot of schools are doing that.
They're actually adding E sportsas part of their, their STEM
programs and their, I forget theterm for it, but essentially
(09:00):
like kind of the blue collar skill programs and what not a
vocational school stuff. And they're they're kind of
linking up with that too. And it sounds like that's like
part of the direction that mightbe happening here.
Right, yeah. And that's, you know, that seems
like we're trying to go to because I was looking at the
schools called Bloom Township and I was looking on their
website to see if they have any E sports classes or clubs, you
(09:20):
know, teams, anything like that. And they didn't.
So when I saw that, you know, I told doctor Nance, I'm like,
hey, like this high school rightby us doesn't have any E sports
stuff. And E sports is a, you know,
it's a growing, it's a hot commodity.
It's one of the, you know, gaming is one of the largest
entertainment industries in the world.
I think it was bigger than movies and music all combined.
(09:43):
So it's a pretty, it's a pretty hot topic right now.
And yeah, luckily he was able togo meet with him and someone
from the outreach team were ableto meet with them and apparently
they agreed to a partnership or they would use click services as
like they're almost under STEM classes.
I mean, the Philly and me is coming out here because no beef
with Chicago, nothing like that. But I only bring it up because,
(10:07):
I mean, I remember how importantit was for people, especially in
the city. You need those extracurricular
activities, you need, you need those kinds of things, you know,
just basically kind of keep people occupied, give them
something to do, give them a positive outlet.
And especially when you're in somewhere like Chicago, it's not
exactly a forgiving winter. There either there's not.
Necessarily the most outdoor activities either, I mean, I
(10:28):
know there's people like, oh, they could, they could go play
football or they could go play, but no listen.
Did you finish Chicago in the. Winter time no.
You can't. Yeah, it's not like you have
football or baseball or something like all year round.
As soon as we're lucky. October has actually been really
nice so far. But as soon as like Thanksgiving
ish hits just wait for. The lakes to freeze over and
(10:51):
hope for the best. Yeah, it's miserable, miserable
to be outside and you want to just sit inside and do nothing.
And so spring hits. Yeah, but but not only that, I
mean, you know, there's, there'scomments and emphasis it seems
with, you know, making sure thatthere are folks from a a
neurodiversion perspective. And you know, I mean, people
heard me talk about that plenty, but you're talking about
individuals. You can't necessarily
(11:12):
participate in some of the physical activities that they
would be elsewhere. Giving them more of an
opportunity with some of these things too, that, you know, it
gives them the team environment,it gives them the
extracurricular environment, it gives them them things to do as
well. Where again, a lot of what click
seems to be doing, whether it's from a socio economic
perspective, whether it's a, youknow, all, all ranges of
diversity perspective, it's giving everybody those
(11:35):
opportunities and I think it's really important.
Frankly, yeah. And I, I think it's important
to, to understand like it's really not like the program is
for 15 and up, so 15 to whatever.
So it's not totally geared towards kids and teens.
They can be really for, for anyone.
And that's the whole point is toteach these skills to, to really
(11:56):
anyone. We're in a very virtual space
right now in terms of how we live our lives.
So being able to, you know, teach classes like music video
coding, streaming, even like I, I told like as soon as I saw
the, the other class list, I'm like, we're teaching people how
to be content creators, how to edit videos, edit clips, add
(12:16):
music to the create their own music.
Like actually for when I made the starting soon screen, the
music that we have in the starting soon screen is actually
one that's made from our music. One of our music guys, he
created it through Fruity Loops and stuff like that.
And so I, it's really cool that like, it's really geared towards
(12:37):
content creation and, you know, having people giving people an
opportunity to, you know, earn aliving some way they didn't
think possible. So this will be the quickest
turnover head We're we're actually recording the night
before this will drop because I want to make sure this gets out
in advance. The 17th You've got an event
coming up. Yeah, we've been, we've been
(12:58):
dancing around it, not mentioning it specifically, but
it's both an in person and a virtual open house.
If you don't mind talking a little bit about that for, for
Thursday the 17th. And we can, we can talk.
I'll, I'll just say 7:00 to 9:00Eastern because you're not going
to talk in real times. You're going to talk in Central
Times, I'm sure, but. That's yeah, that's OK.
In this case, we'll forgive it. Yeah, us, us, us Chicagoans are
(13:20):
central, but yeah, Eastern's fine.
So, yeah, this this Thursday, like I said, I was, I was
talking about before we kind of were trying to think of a way to
kind of get, you know, more people to sign up.
And someone brought the idea of an open house.
And I, you know, I love the idea, you know, in person
virtual open house. And then, you know, being
(13:41):
someone who has experienced marbles before, I was like, what
if we did an open house but did a marbles event at the same
time? So you know, we can do it
virtually, you know, and you know, the Doctor Nance was like,
yeah, let's do it. And I mentioned prizes and he
said yes, let's do it. So we have some click services
merch as well as and he had $100Visa gift card to give away as
(14:06):
well. And then you guys over at
Channel 3 or like let's throw some Channel 3 merch too.
So I was like, oh hell yeah, let's do it.
So I'm really psyched about it's, it's going to be super
fun. So the whole point of it, if you
guys watch on Twitch, I'm going to have I'll be running the
stream and everything that nightme and another Co employee or
(14:30):
staff member will be kind of running the stream and virtually
you guys can watch on Twitch. I'll have the classroom up like
in between, in between races, just kind of, you know, show up
the classroom, the computer and stuff like that.
And then if anyone is in the area does in person, obviously
you can check out the computers, play games on them.
(14:50):
People who are in person at the open house, they will be
eligible for extra prizes. You may run an extra race for
those who are in person and theycan win probably like an extra,
you know, extra shirt or something.
We'll we'll think of something over there.
And again, if you just go to C3 dot GG slash click, that will
take you right to the page Tony set up the there's an RSVP there
(15:12):
as well for it. So you can be reminded when,
when things go live. There was one I don't know, I, I
wanted to ask you about. So you talked about there's
coding, there's music, there's there's streaming, there's E
sports, of course, but there, there's one thing I looked at on
the click calendar that had me curious about, you know,
anything about the E sports and the law sessions they do.
(15:33):
I'm just curious what that involves.
It's really like, yeah, like thelegalities of E sports.
It's just, it's simply talking about like all the background
stuff in E sports, like contractand things like that, money
being pushed around. And yeah, it's really just
talking about all the legality, like almost like a like a sports
player sending contracts and like negotiating stuff like
(15:56):
that. It's almost taking the kind of
that aspect and putting it into E sports and and legal.
Anything else we should let folks know about?
No, I mean, I will say, like I said, we're trying to tweak out
the the Twitch streams and stufflike that.
So I mean, if anyone ever wants to jump in, see how they do
music production or video production, whatever, you guys
are always welcome to come by. I'm starting the week that we
(16:19):
had the the partnership with thehigh school.
We are actually our our E sportsprogram and everything else is
broken down into three month programs, 12 weeks.
And so we're actually doing Callof Duty Black Ops 6 for our next
for our next program since it's coming out.
It's going to be 100, Tony Will.Get his Call of Duty players.
(16:39):
By God, he will get them. In there.
Yeah. Well, we're thinking about it
like it just fit perfectly. And then Dr. Nancel was also
like, you know, we let him know that's going to be on Game Pass
and not everyone's going to havea good game pass subscription.
So he's like, yeah, let's let's let's purchase 24 subscriptions
and just in case people don't have them and we'll be good to
go. So like, all right, it's like I
(17:00):
said, it's it's more than just Esports and just being
competitive. A lot of my curriculum is, is
revolving around communication, teamwork, you know, making sure
that we're working all have you have to work with other people.
And that's kind of the that's, that's kind of the goal that I'm
trying to achieve with everyone. All right, so once again we have
(17:22):
the event. Marvel's on stream Thursday,
October 17th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Eastern, but of course, 6 to
8 Central where it is in fact taking place.
Twitch.tv/clickservices NFP And with that, we have made it to
the end of a very different, butvery important.
