(00:08):
Call me now, I'm finally fulfilled.
This is where my heart's been waiting, filled.
Pick me up to dance and pick me up again.
Hello ladies and gentlemen, we have made it to the final day of
AX and thus the final episode ofWhat do You Say Anime After

(00:31):
dark, A long night of sin followed by a regretful morning.
We persevered through what was left of AX to make it to the
final day and still try to make some time tonight while we still
can to finish our wrap up episodes.
So what were we talking about last days and talk about like

(00:53):
our favorite stuff overall from AX and when we do it again, what
would we do? Different type of thing.
So let's start with the day because I was sleeping when you
guys were moving. So what do you guys do this
morning while I was not feeling the best SO by yeah, by the time

(01:15):
we got home last night, it was like 23045 ish we recorded and I
ended up going to sleep by the end of that around like I've I
think 4:35-ish. And then 6:00 AM rolls around, I

(01:37):
wake up say wow, it's 6:00 AM Johnny's not probably going to
be up for another or be over here for another hour or so or
another couple hours. I'll go back to sleep for
another hour. And then I did not after that.
I got maybe another 5 minutes ofsleep after that and I

(01:59):
basically, yeah, I was running off an hour of sleep Somehow,
someway, I couldn't believe it. Yeah, I, I didn't, I didn't
understand either. But you know, we we persevere on
weekends like this. It's one weekend a year that you
get to do this unless you go to every convention and you do the

(02:21):
same thing everywhere. But as you can probably hear in
my voice. Oh yeah, probably mine too, a
little bit. Yeah, it's probably not good to
do this every. I don't know about you guys.
I'm feeling great. Yeah, yeah, you got a, you had a
well rested night. Yeah, surprisingly, surprisingly
almost. The Airbnb next to us did get

(02:43):
pretty loud. But next to us, yeah, like,
because where I'm sleeping is like on that side of the road
and right next to it is like thewindow to their, like kitchen.
Like I literally just see them in there like partying, partying
as I'm trying to go to bed. But it was like they settled
down by around midnight. So it was not, it wasn't that

(03:05):
bad. Should.
Have had them come over here. I have one.
Hey, at 2:30, these guys are going to get home, hit them up,
go over there. We would have had the party
going on. Yeah, Maybe they could have
joined us for the episode. Yeah, that was nuts.
I woke up to you guys rumbling around in the kitchen.
I felt like I had sleep paralysis.
And I was like, how the fuck is Trent awake right now?

(03:26):
Like, how is he moving? Because I can't move right now.
And somehow Trent is getting ready for the day, which you
guys went to the JJK panel. So what was that about?
Not much, not much, but we did not have to wait in line.
So that was a plus. We got there probably like

(03:51):
around the same time that we didfor free run because we were
expecting there to be a big ass line.
So we got there like around 10, which was.
It was like 01, Yeah. It was like. 10/01 when we made
it to the Peacock Theatre and there was literally no line.
Yeah. And I think like that was
because they got, they managed to get everybody inside the
theater in a decent amount of time 'cause it was pretty

(04:11):
crowded. Yeah, 'cause I think since there
wasn't anything going on, that was the first one, first event,
there was no, there's no reason to keep people in line like past
like 9930. So just let them in, let people
get a seat, have people wait inside, which worked out
perfectly, 'cause we just walkedright in, didn't have to do

(04:34):
anything. We sat down right where, Yeah,
right, like right where we were for Demon Slayer.
So the seats were good still. We still got to see everything,
got to hear anything. Well, you had to do something,
but. Yeah, I had.
To go to the bathroom as soon asI as soon as we got there
because my I was in autopilot for that time because I still

(04:55):
wasn't awake and my body was nothappy with me still.
It was saying, what are you doing?
Why aren't you in bed? Why why are you still trying to
do stuff over the course of thiswhole weekend after treating
your body like crap with drinks and food and pounds and pounds

(05:15):
of Korean barbecue and yakitori. And I do it again.
Yeah. And trying to do it for do it
again for one more day. But after once that was going
on, I kind of started to get my bearings under me.
Like, yeah, once get all the getall the toxins and all the
negative energy out and just putforth the good energy, the

(05:38):
negative energy that cause the all the negative energy was
taken by Utah's voice actor or voice actress Mega Miogata, who
it was really funny because the panel it had was it Yuji in
Utah, right? Yuji's also voice actor was
there. And Mega Miyagata, she's world

(06:01):
renowned voice actress. She's been in the game for years
and years and years. The voice of Chenji.
And it's funny, like the whole time they were asking her
questions like, hey, what did you think about this role?
Like or what, what do you what are you expecting in this
upcoming season, blah, blah, blah.

(06:21):
And like, every answer was just like, I'm going to kill Yuji.
Yeah. I was like, spicing her through
Die Die. I was like, OK, all right,
you're you're really taking thison.
But yeah, I mean, that bit of the panel was good.

(06:45):
I guess we'll just start off with what they were showing us
first, which is the recap movie, which I'll be honest, like I
don't think it's, I mean, it's just not something that I think
it's that big of a review. I mean, we all knew it was going
to be a thing before the panel. The is it the hidden inventory

(07:05):
movie? Yeah.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's.
Like it's just a recap movie. They were trying to hype it up
and we were just like, like we already saw the thing.
That's what they were doing herewith the freaking The Dangers in
My Heart movie. And people are like, I can't
believe we're getting a Dangers in My Heart movie.
Like it's so sick. We're getting more content, like
it's a recap movie, but they never like, they never are.

(07:28):
They're not promoting it as a recap movie.
They're just promoting it as TheDangers in My Heart movie.
I think they said something about there's going to be like
one extra scene at the end or something.
Yeah, yeah. So they they showed us a new
movie exclusive scene, which I don't, I won't, won't spoil.
I'll let I'll let that be a mystery for the the watchers.

(07:50):
I read the manga so maybe. This guy's got insider
knowledge. OK, maybe.
You already saw it, but yeah, there was like there's going to
be one extra scene. It was basically like a remaster
because they were like we redid the audio.
We we, we improved the sound. What is this The Last of Us

(08:13):
getting its 5th remaster and re release?
Yeah, it's just like, and you know, they were like trying to
hype up the crowd, like who's got their tickets?
And like maybe 20% of the crowd was like, yeah, I got home.
And then they're like, well, that's not enough of you.
But anyway, they actually they said that the panel is like.
Yeah, more of you need to go out.

(08:34):
Yeah, more of you need to go seecontent you've already seen.
Crunchy Roll. Anyways, then after that they
released like a movie exclusive like jiu jitsu stroll clip,
which you know like those like mini like scenes at the end of
season 1. I thought you were just talking.
No, but they said there was going to be extra scenes that

(08:57):
like were made for like the actual movie, not just a stroll
part. OK.
Yeah, yeah. I was thinking about the one
that we saw but you want. I wasn't saying like we didn't.
Talk about the other one. Yeah, I said they talked about
they were going to introduce like extra like scenes into like

(09:18):
the actual movie, not the two-minute clip that you see at
the start of the movie. What did they say that was going
to be at the? Start.
Well, we already saw it, so it doesn't matter anyways.
But anyway, so that was not whatwe were coming for.
I mean, everybody was coming expecting to see something for
Season 3. You know, like you seeing like,

(09:41):
and they said it themselves, they're like, you know, like
Yuda and Isadori aren't really in that part of JJK.
So then they're like, well, guess it's time to talk about
Season 3. But they didn't really say too
much about Season 3 throughout the panel.
They were just like, yeah, there's going to be a fight
scene between Yugi and Utah. We're going to stab this guy at
Barge. He's going to be like, oh, no,
I'm getting stabbed. And then they showed us like the

(10:04):
one like. They did it behind the scenes,
like in the like in the voice booth little video of UG's voice
actor and him like reading through lines, but it was lines
from the end of season 2. So it wasn't even new stuff as

(10:26):
far as I know. But yeah, like there wasn't
really anything ground breaking like breaking news.
World premiere, world premiere. Mirror, mirror, mirror.
They got the hype slot for that.Prestige worldwide, wide, wide,
wide prestige worldwide wide, wide.

(10:47):
But yeah, that was that was really about it.
They did some giveaways at the end, they gave out more movie
tickets and Toto compression shirts and shirts and.
They got a signed Funko Pop. Signed, signed Funko Pop.
And you got like there's like a sign displayed and you got to

(11:10):
ask the voice actors a question, which I would not be able to ask
a voice actor that I enjoyed andI loved their work.
Like on the spot. Like, hey, you ask ask a
question in front of 5000 peoplethat are also fans and are dying
to be in your position. What are what thought provoking

(11:33):
question are you going to ask? You have 5 seconds go.
Yeah, I don't know that was. Almost like what happened with
the voice actor because they it looked like they were really
struggling to answer the questions.
But the question that well, let's start with the first one.
The first question was to Yuji'svoice actor where they were
like, if Yuji and Toto were to hang out together, what do you

(11:56):
think they would do? Which I think that's a pretty
cool. I think that's a pretty good
question to come along on the spot.
And he was like, they would go to the idol concert together,
which honestly, I could see that.
Yeah, that was well, it would only be the idol that Toto
likes. Like if Yuji wanted to go to
another one, Toto would literally just beat him up until
he said yes. But for the Utah's voice actor,

(12:19):
she was kind of just there. Like the question was like if
you. How would you guys hang out?
Or something. Yeah.
It was like, if, if the voice actor were to hang out with
Utah, what would they do? And then she was kind of just
stuck there being like, I don't really know.
And then, like, Yuji's voice actor kind of came in the state
of the day, like, oh, Rika's going to be there, right.

(12:39):
So you should go on a date and then.
Yeah. It was, it was very interesting
energy from Megan, Megan. Megan got it.
I'll say that she was, it was like a mix of like her, like
trying to be funny and in character, but also just being
completely spaced out and like what's happening.
She did say it was like the first time she was in front of a

(13:01):
crowd that big, so I think maybeit was a bit of a stage for it.
I, I don't know, I, she's, she'sbeen in the industry for so long
and has played so many or she's played iconic characters.
And so I don't know, maybe AX isjust built different like that.
Yeah, setting a feeder with like7000 people, yeah, yeah, gets

(13:21):
you that like that. Yeah, yeah.
That was the first and really only big thing at least that we
had on our agenda for Sunday 'cause Sunday, Sunday at AX kind
of wraps a little earlier, the shops close earlier closing

(13:42):
ceremonies or was that four? And so for after that it was
mostly just like a catch up day on whatever else.
Well, Pete did try to go to something else.
Yeah, you had something. Yeah.
So I tried to go to the, or I guess the screening of the Uma
Mussame movie. And I, this whole weekend we've
gotten into every event that we've gone to.

(14:04):
No issues, no problems. Even the major ones coming in 45
minutes late and still getting into the major ones.
So I was like, oh, OK, I want togo to Uma Moose Bay.
I don't think it's going to be that busy.
So I'll just show up like, I don't know, 45 minutes, an hour
before it starts and I'll just like see if there's a line or

(14:24):
whatever, get there and I'm likewalking up to where people are
lining up for the panels. I was like, damn, that one has a
ton of people in it. I wonder what that one's for.
I was like, oh, there must be some like, I don't know, I think
there's like a Kaiju #8 panel. Like around the same time I was
like, I was like, oh, that must be the Kaiju #8 panel.

(14:46):
And it's like, no, the Kaiju #8 panel is over there and it has
like 40 people in line. The line over there with like
600 people is actually for the Ubabusabe screening.
I was like, ah, son of a bitch. I was like, all right, well,
I'll get in line. Like they have overflow standing
normally. They will they'll they'll cap

(15:06):
it. They think they're going to get
full. So I was like, OK, cool.
So I got online. I waited an hour and then they
came over to like, hey, we forgot that the panel before is
non clearing. So if people wanted to stay,
they can. They're like, yeah, so you're
not getting in. And they're like, yeah, we're

(15:28):
sorry, we're telling you this right now when the panel is
supposed to start. I was just like, awesome.
Well, I just stood here for an hour, but I did win a campaign
with Bakushin, Bakushin Ichigo, Bakushin Ichigo and we, and
that's why I got dubbed while I was waiting there.
So my UMA campaign is killing itright now.

(15:52):
So yeah, that was like a bummer.Like the one panel that I
thought I we had 100% chance of getting into was the only panel
that I got capped the entire weekend.
So I guess next time I know it actually give me inspiration
that I want to do a like an Uma moussame panel at a con and like
going over like since it's blowing up and everything like

(16:15):
that. We I could think I could do like
a fun panel and like the actual sources of the horses.
Oh, sources of horses. That's a good time.
You know, that's a pale they right there.
Let's go. I also do how to trade your Uma.
But sources of horses actually sounds pretty damn good.
That's good. But yeah, so that was kind of
like a bummer a little bit because I was I was kind of

(16:38):
hungover. I was like super hungover.
I was like a little hungover. I was just like me.
I would love to just chill in like a air conditioned room for
an hour and a half and watch this movie, umusore movie and
then be ready to go about the day.
And then I sit there for an hourand I'm like, well, I guess I
got to go find Johnny and Trent cause like.
Already screening? Were you screening the entire

(17:00):
movie or just like us? Yeah.
So I think that I forgot if it'sat the beginning because yeah,
it's a new beginning one. There's one that's like 4
episodes that they compiled intoa movie.
And then there's one that I think is just a movie.
And I don't know which one of the two is which one.
So they're essentially movie length, both of the other two.

(17:21):
So that was a bummer. But I mean, it was so fun.
I'm just still, as someone who only watched like half of season
1 and at the time I was like, OK, this is the cute girls doing
cute things show of the season. And it's like with a little bit
of idle action going on, it's like, OK, it's it's fine.

(17:42):
It's whatever. It didn't really like catch the
community by storm. I feel at that point to nowhere
near where it is now. Yeah, I did.
I feel like I took a little bit.Yeah.
And it yeah, 'cause it was like season 2 was announced, like,
oh, OK. And then season 3 and then new
new spin off a new series and this and that.

(18:03):
And now like then the game, the game came out what, a week ago
now? Yeah, about a week ago, yeah.
And we, we were just watching like 10 minutes ago.
And I pulled up my, my YouTube feed, my subscription page where
just in the last day, like 3 or 4 of the big content creators,

(18:25):
gaming content creators that I watch all put out UMA museme
videos. And they're like, this is, I
thought it was a meme. I started playing it and I love
it and I'm hooked. I, I kind of, I want to go on
like a kind of a rant. Not rant, but just something I
was thinking about how the whole, at least in our, our

(18:48):
circle with UMA museum started as like a joke.
Like we thought, we thought it'dbe like a funny show to review
because it's about horse girls racing.
And then we kind of got a littledeeper into it and we watched
season 2 and started like actually figuring out some of
the, the details of what Uma Museme is.

(19:09):
And there's just so much attention to detail where for me
at least, I went from being, I'mnot going to say like I'm a
hater, but like I meme the shit out of Uma Museme because like
the concept is like is crazy. Like, right, like it's it's
insane, but I went from memeing it to now thinking like the
property itself is like fantastic.

(19:31):
And it's awesome to kind of see this is like it's like it's a
prime example of like why I likeanime, because you can take
something as crazy as horse girls and then apply a level of
detail that is so above and beyond necessary for this type
of show and just create a piece of work that of what the fuck

(19:54):
Uma museum is. It's just so fun to see like
everybody sort of like getting on the wagon because like a year
and a half ago I was that person.
So it's cool to see like people like I've seen like a shadow of
myself coming to light be like, no, it's not a meme.
Like the game is great. The show is pretty damn good.

(20:17):
Like everybody get on the Uma trade.
OK, so that was my Uma rants. You're good, you're valid.
No, I just made a realization. Isn't so this is a show about
horse girls and they're like lowkey idols who have like, yeah,
special abilities. Honestly, is this a special?
Ability. Is this just?
Like the Japanese version of being a brony, no?

(20:41):
Or is that or is that you in thenow?
No, no, those are two very different things.
Are they? Are they?
Yeah. Yeah, they are, because.
I mean, I feel like you're in denial.
It's not like I'm making my entire personality uma moo.
Oh my God, I'm a Brody. You've.
Been you've been playing Uma Museme every single day, waiting

(21:04):
in line. I have, yeah.
The game is good. It's just a good game.
He's in denial. I mean, I like B stars, but that
doesn't make me a furry. Yeah, or I don't.
Know I'm I'm sorry to tell you, but I I found the suit in the
garage. Damn, all right, anyway.

(21:26):
Do you want to talk about what we bought?
Johnny is over, do you want? To talk about what we bought.
Yeah, let's, let's, I'll go quick.
I'm just going to be real quick.I bought one thing of AX.
It was my Uber Muslim bring it up Uber Muslim again, the hoppy.
It's like the the jackets that they wear.
It's all frilly and stuff. It was you were wearing it like

(21:48):
yesterday. Yeah, I I wore like, I think
it's awesome. I think it's really fun piece of
clothing to wear. I've never owned one before, but
it's like I I think it's just like a great piece of clothing
to wear and it's fun. So I spent 75 bucks on that.
That's all I spent. You got it with complete.
You were so in awe of it that you completely forgot about the
whole reason why Oh yeah, we went to the side games booth we

(22:12):
during their our vlog. Oh shit.
This is probably going to come out before that, but spoiler
I'll just fuck it. It's spoiler.
The whole reason why we went to the side games booth was to get
the round one promo card for UbaMoose Way.
And I just, I think I said it like 4 times while we were going
there, why we were going there and I forgot to do it.

(22:34):
And then it just pivots to you being whoa, I hope they have
this in my size. Yeah right.
I was like, I got there. They did have a sizing chart.
So I was like, it was wrapped up.
I was like, can I put it on? And they're like looking assy
like they're managers and stuff like that.
And they're like, hold on. I'm like, I'm just like, I just
don't want to like I'll RIP it. And then it end up being like, I

(22:58):
don't know, it's like a 4X. It's like it's huge.
So it's like it's fine. So that was funny.
It looks very comfortable. It is like it's just enough,
like it's light enough that it doesn't encumber you in any way.
But it's still, you know, it's still a layer of clothing.
So it's like, like a windbreakeralmost.

(23:18):
Yeah. It's fun.
But yeah, it looks, looks cool. That's it.
And then I spent, I don't know, $300 on booze this weekend or
something like that. So that's where my money went,
you know, for. Yeah.
So for me, today was mostly a catch up day, catching up on,

(23:39):
you know, because we spent so much time in panels that we're
like, I at least didn't have much time to check out like the
exhibition hall, the exhibit hall, entertainment hall, Artist
Alley. I didn't hit artist Alley until
today for the first time, which is usually when everyone else

(24:01):
goes because it's everyone is trying to get in their last
minute things. So he hit up like half of artist
Alley. I didn't get anything there, but
in the in like the dealer area and the exhibit area.
Hit up the Crunchyroll booth 'cause we love Crunchyroll here.

(24:22):
Add hashtag. Add G roll.
To get a free. Subscription, though, I mean,
yeah, they're, yeah, they're yeah, give us the free Subs,
please. But I yeah, I got Berserk 97 on
Blu-ray. It got the steel bug.
What I I that was something I wanted to get, but I saw it in

(24:43):
person and I was like, you know what?
It's probably cheaper if I get it online somewhere, but fuck it
here. I want it now even though it's
just going to go right on my shelf.
Probably still in the plastic wrapper.
Ain't that the truth. Yeah, did that.
Which man, I'm still I I really wish I I really wish the Misato

(25:11):
leather. I knew you were going to talk
about that. Not 500 freaking dollars.
Well, no, no, it's 450 if you buy it.
Yeah, Anime Expo. Get it anime.
No, it was more. It was 500 here.
Oh wait, did they mess? They messed up the price tag.
450 online but I don't know if that was a pre-order sale.

(25:31):
I'm I'm I'm sure if you're buying the 10% off for being a
mega member. I'm I'm sure if you showed them
like it was cheaper online they would have probably made it
cheaper in person. I doubt it.
Oh, that was the opposite for mebecause I got this.
Yeah, and this tripped. Out, yeah.
So, yeah, I got the JJK varsity jacket, which was 250 online.

(25:55):
And, you know, I was looking at it.
I was like, I thought, this is cool, but it's like, whatever.
And I saw like, this is $100 cheaper in person.
So that's a, that's a super gooddeal.
So, you know, I have to get that.
And, you know, I did say I wasn't going to get any more
clothes, but, you know, we all make mistakes.
Yeah. And, well, at least my money

(26:16):
didn't literally go down the toilet like Pete did with his
booze. My money was very well spent.
I had a fantastic time spending that money.
What else? What else?
I I think today I, yeah, that was really about it for what I
got. I got some clothes at a shop in
Little Tokyo. But before today, yesterday,

(26:37):
just overall merch hall, I finally found a near automata 2B
figure that I liked and that wasrelatively affordable.
What else? What else?
What other big thing? Oh, I got a Misato Nendoroid.

(26:59):
I missed out on the AX first, I guess.
Timed exclusive panny and stocking merch that they
announced at their panel becauseI I wanted that.
I mean, I'm not even the world'sbiggest panny and stocking fan,
but I saw that more of like a souvenir of like, oh, I'm

(27:22):
getting this like, Hey, it's a cool looking figure.
It it was a it was panty and stocking in their in their car
driving off and it, it looked really cool.
I enjoyed it and I was like, youknow what?
That's going to be like my I look, I'll look at that on my
shelf every day and I'll be reminded of this trip and the

(27:44):
good time. But they sold out almost
immediately, so instead, Good Smile took my money in other
ways 'cause I I was going to give them money regardless.
So at least I got something elseout of it.
But I think that's really about MO.
Oh, and then I finally got my Holy Grail.

(28:08):
Or my current Holy Grail purchase at least.
Or fined of getting Higurashi inin a physical form some way or
another. I found a the PS2 port.
It was like a deluxe edition with all of like our cards and
other stuff in it and I almost dropped like 200 bucks

(28:32):
exclusively on on When They Cry,Umineko and Higurashi stuff
because I was like, oh, I I justsee two discs.
I don't even know what's on it. I just see the logo.
I recognize the art. This is something Higgarashi
that I never see anywhere else at any other booth.
I'm just grabbing it. I think there were like 2 of the

(28:55):
8 chapters and it was like 20 bucks each and I didn't care.
And then I like walk further down and I see even more stuff
and I just keep grabbing and more and more and all of a
sudden I had like 8 different things in my basket.
At that point I was like, OK, time to actually take some
personal inventory. How what do I want?

(29:17):
What's important, what what means more to me.
And so, yeah, finally after being indoctrinated by a Miles
to get and has to if to explain and to get us into when they
cry, I don't even remember. Oh, Miles made a PowerPoint for

(29:43):
me. Yeah, I was trying to remember
like, why I even like when this journey even started.
Miles was so desperate for more people to talk to about when
they cried that he made a breakdown PowerPoint of ways to

(30:03):
read or ways to get into that. You can.
You can do the manga. Here are pros and cons.
You can do the anime pros and cons.
You can read the original visualnovel.
And here's all the pro, pro, propros.
There's no cons at all. He made that for me and it

(30:23):
didn't initially work on me. It ended up getting Galaxy.
Preston got him convinced more than me and I went along for the
ride and it was a hell of a rideand yeah it it led to me
dropping 150 bucks on. Yeah, 3:00 AM Discord calls.
Huh. Yeah yeah. 3:00 AM Discord

(30:46):
calls, 5 hour calls later of group reads and of I remember
seeing. You guys do that for like
months? Oh yeah, I mean, there's like
250 something hours. I don't.
Know so sometimes I would like wake up early because I couldn't
get to sleep and I and I was. Somewhere on the other side of

(31:08):
the world at that point. I'm just like, what are you
doing? Yeah, I think I came in once or
twice, did I? And I was just like.
Oh, yeah, Yeah. You joined us.
I was. So confused it's like what are
you guys doing at like 4:00 AM in the morning?
Yeah, yeah. I mean when you don't work a
typical 9 to 5 office job and you work nights and evenings and

(31:32):
you can sleep in until whenever you want.
You can stay up as late as you want, but then your whole next
day is gone. Yeah, I guess that's true.
Yeah. So that, yeah, I finally, after
two years or so of every con going up, every con I went to
every retro game event, every retro game shop, just scanning

(31:54):
through all the titles to try tofind maybe the one imported game
that someone got. And that all finally came to a
close today. That's what's up, man.
That's really, that really is kind of my thing.
I got some stuff for some family.
I went went to the Toho booth orwas it the MOPPA booth?

(32:16):
I think that had the JJK stuff. It was Toho which one did.
You What did you buy? I got the UG windbreaker.
That was at the. Yeah, because Mapo.
Yeah, because Mapo didn't have. Mapo was just like showing stuff
it wasn't selling. Anything.
Yeah. That was just like an exhibit to
walk through. So yeah, I just got some stuff
for some family and friends, Yeah.

(32:39):
Was there anything else that yougot like before today?
Well, that's what I think. Yesterday I spent like maybe
like an hour in the artist alleyand that was where I picked up
the prints that I got. That's right.
You got these like water colour ones that are look really cool.
Yeah, I try to, I try to look for stuff that's like it's where

(33:01):
it's like I don't like the animelooking stuff like hanged up.
It's like decoration and stuff. I think it's like a little bit
like too flashy. So like, I kind of like want to
look for stuff where you like, if people don't know what anime
is, so look at it, be like, oh, that's cool.
But like people who know anime will still be like, Oh yeah,
like it's this character or likeit's this anime.
Yeah. So I think I got something

(33:23):
that's like a really nice, like combination of that.
And I'm pretty happy with what Igot.
And besides that, today I got, well, I was originally going to
get, they had these new RE0 figures coming out, which were
$300 combined. But maybe, well, maybe

(33:45):
fortunately for me, they were sold out.
So I had to settle with some other things like, you know,
getting a tote bag from the artist Sally.
It was a nice tote bag, though. I had like a zipper at a place
to like ring like your keys on it.
Yeah. And then like you.
Know your your tote bag. Yeah, that was a good deal.

(34:07):
Heavy duty. We are certified bag getters,
yeah. We got so many bags.
To we understand getting the bag, he doesn't understand
getting the bag. Broke alert.
Broke boil alert, broke boil alert.
The only bag he dropped was on the drinks.
Yeah, he's all the drinks. Yeah, the we, we, we appreciate
a good tote bag for groceries and other shopping over here.

(34:30):
Shout out to Toho for having a bag big enough to hide A body.
Oh my God that Toho bag is obnoxious.
You have it here. Pack one no.
I have it right here. I have.
It that was the Crunchyroll one, yeah.
So for everyone, can you, can you hear me OK?
Yeah. Look how big this thing is.
Really audio listeners loving this contest.

(34:52):
It is like. Well, it's fine, I can search up
a. Picture Johnny Johnny forgets
that we're a podcast. We have a YouTube channel, they
can go look. We do have a YouTube channel.
Yeah. So this bag is basically.
It's basically his entire upper body.
It's a big ass bag. Yeah, you can keep.
His fit piece forehead in that. It's crickets.

(35:14):
Crickets. But anyways, crickets.
But yeah, that. That one you know what?
I think that they deliberately handed out as many of those
giant bags as possible because they need that.
Nobody else is going to make a bigger bag and everybody will
see their bag. Yeah, like you put, you put all
your smaller bags in that and that's all that everyone sees.

(35:35):
Because I wanted to get the Demon Slayer bag as I saw like
some people had those and they're like, oh, sorry, we're
sold out. Meanwhile, they just they're
just hanging out piles of these Toho bags on the last day.
I love collecting bags here because they just become my
grocery bags and my work bags and overnight bags for the next.

(35:56):
Well, you'll you'll be able to carry every single grocery.
From that one, every single grocery, I have 1 from 2022 in
my car right now because that's one of my yeah, one of my
grocery bags. But yeah, that's most that's
that's kind of the merch and other goodies that we got.
We recapped that. Pete, is there any other recap

(36:19):
that you wanted to go over to this?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I want to talk about
like what we liked and then likeand what we would do differently
type of thing. I think we already talked about
demon sell yourself enough. I just thought in general, the
panels and the the the amount ofstuff we could do was a lot,

(36:39):
which is good. Like it's better to have too
many things that not enough. It just makes you want to come
back and try something new the next time.
So I got to give credit credits due that this was a great Rand
events that the the whole thing of adding extra space with the
LA live area that they did was afantastic addition.

(37:03):
AX felt a lot less cramped than before, so that was good.
I think they, I don't know, theyhave some kinks like logistics
logistically to work out with like lines and stuff.
But man, yeah, this is just likea really well ran event and I
would highly recommend like anybody to come if you have.

(37:24):
So I don't know if you guys wantto shout out to this something
that like, I don't know, was thefood good or something else that
you want to talk about? What something bad that they did
that you wanted to talk about? I mean, the only real negative
experience that I had over the course of the weekend, like
didn't really come until the panning and stocking panel or

(37:45):
the premiere that I tried to go to 'cause I went there early,
'cause you guys weren't even planning on going.
Nope. And yeah, like, considering that
was like that, that was their biggest panel, They had to clear
everyone out before it wasn't. It was out of the ordinary for
the other things that were goingon at the Peacock Theatre over

(38:08):
the weekend. Like, so like, I get it.
I I don't know where all of these panting and stockings fans
have been over the last 15 yearsto make it be like the biggest
event of the weekend. There was more people, yeah, at
that than Free Ren. Yeah.
And Demon Sir was probably pretty close to how many people

(38:28):
were there. Well, I mean, we were able to
get in and we didn't even want to.
So we were, we were trying not to get in 'cause we were like,
yeah, exactly. What if we get in and they let
be in and they say you got to get out of here?
You were here for Demon Slayer. Like, no, but yeah, like I
that's really about it. Like from compared to years

(38:50):
past, them expanding more and more into the LA live area was
absolutely incredible. I think the beer garden there
was my hand like the as far as like area to just relax and hang
out and just spend time at that was easily the my favorite.
Place because we didn't even go to the other Food Corps, like at

(39:13):
all. I I did.
Well, we didn't like really likelike hang out there or.
Anything. It didn't have, it had like no
shade. Like it was like there were so
many food stalls there, so it attracted a bunch of people and
there was like 1 area with a tent.
So it was always like if you wanted to go eat there, you'd
just be blistering in the sun. Yeah, yeah, 'cause before, at

(39:36):
least in years past when I went, that's where.
So the food, I think not, not AXcrossing is AX something, but
that was up in the front of the Convention Center, which in the
years past that I went, that waslike the ticketing area 'cause
that was where people go to 1st,but they turned it into a food

(39:57):
area. But yeah, since they had no
shade. I didn't really care and I one
of the things that I absolutely loved about how AX has handled
their food cause like every other convention, every other
thing you go to, it's always no outside food or drink.
Empty bottle. You fill up your bottle when you
get in 'cause they want you to eat at the one concession stand

(40:21):
that serves chicken tenders or asalad.
And they since so I've, I've always been, how do I bring in a
sandwich? How do I bring in a granola bar?
How do I bring in an energy drink?
Whatever. But AX has been, was really cool
about we understand. Like we get it.

(40:43):
It's there's a lot of stuff going on.
It's expensive. We can't enforce like it'll be,
it would be so hard to enforce like no food or drink 'cause
you're going to have to search every single person and
logistically you can't do it. So that worked out perfectly for
me 'cause every day I packed a peanut butter sandwich and a

(41:04):
banana and a granola bar. And so I didn't have to spend
too much money on food, which iswhy I didn't go to the that the
main food vendor area, which, yeah, I wouldn't have gone
anyway 'cause it's so hot. Yeah, sorry, sorry, audio
listeners, my voice was taking abit of a dive there.

(41:24):
But yeah, like shout out to AX for understanding that and not
being too much of A stickler, I guess I.
Mean like overall the staff there were all like very Joe and
nice. Yeah, they weren't just
volunteers trying to game the system to get a free pass for
the weekend, which you kind of feel at some other oh, 100%.

(41:48):
They're just there to get the T-shirt and to get a free pass
for the other non 8 hours that they were assigned to work like
these guys for the most part until it became where they were
completely just overwhelmed and didn't know what to do.
Like at the panty and stocking panel or premiere.
Like everyone. Fantastic, fantastic stuff

(42:11):
there. Was there anything that stood
out to you, Johnny? I guess so.
This is like the biggest, biggest event that like I've
been to because in the other conventions that I've gone to,
they didn't really have all the like panels.
It was mostly just like, you know, like random games and

(42:32):
stuff like that. Like they didn't really have
like a lot of like these like big industry events and stuff
like that. So I never went to those.
So I was just like walking around, like singing stuff,
like, you know, going to artistsand stuff like that.
So like this was like a completely different experience
for me. Yep, was, you know, like being
able to see all these people wholike work on all these shows

(42:53):
that I've been watching for years.
And like that's like a very different kind of experience
because it's like you don't really think about like the work
that goes into it when you're just like watching it on home at
home. But like seeing the people that
work on these shows, seeing likehow they do things, seeing them
perform in real life in front ofeveryone that's there.

(43:16):
It's the very eye open experience.
Yeah, no, I think that the. Orange panel really showed that
that was sick that that was likeif you wanted to be like really
in depth with how things are created.
That was such a unique way of showcasing it because the other
industry panels that we went to just sort of showcase the titles

(43:40):
themselves, but then showcase I,I would say like the work that
went into it, like how Orange did it.
It was a very well done panel tosee the storyboarding at 2 from
point AB and then CD like to completion essentially.
It was really cool. What about?

(44:00):
I guess so Johnny, this is your first AX trend?
This is like your 4th. 3rd, 3rd and this was my second.
So is there something that you would want to do the next time
that you didn't get to do this time?
And is there something that you did this time that like you wish
you didn't do, you know, like how you allocate your time?

(44:24):
I think for me, I mean, for me, the biggest thing was just that
I was like, I wasn't too sure. Like I wasn't too sure how or
like if I was going to be comingor not just because my personal
work and getting time off thingslike that.

(44:45):
And because I it's 4th of July. The big thing that sucks about
AX, which to some people is alsoa good thing, is that it is on
4th of July weekend. And so a lot of people make
plans with family, friends, barbecues, whatever, over the
course of the weekend. So it's sometimes like, like,

(45:06):
yeah, I'm me and my family, we're doing a trip to the beach
or the Fort, we're going campingor something like that.
So that kind of sucks for for getting the people together, but
yeah. Like so I.
Wasn't too sure. So for me, the biggest thing
that kind of screwed me was, andI have said this a bunch of

(45:27):
times, I was just not planning ahead enough.
Yeah, for sure. Because like yesterday when I
went to the Persona 5X panel andI saw their performance by Lynn,
she was having a full concert atthe Novo like later on that day.
And I was like, oh, if I would've just read the schedule,

(45:49):
I would have gone to that instead.
But because I don't care too much about the mobile game.
But I think for me, yeah, it just comes back to planning
ahead. But aside from that, like, I
think this was the smoothest AECexperience I've had.
It was, man, I batted 100% on everything.
Yeah, man, like, even like getting into the con was that

(46:15):
was the longest I wanted to get into the con was 10 minutes.
It was a breeze. Yeah.
Like in the first year I went in2019, like half of that first
day was just waiting in line outside, just waiting for that
first wave of people to get through.
And that's even on a Thursday where not everyone is in yet.

(46:38):
Just everyone wants to be. Like you see those those viral
pictures of like the wide shot of the opening gate where
everyone's cramped and everyone's like packed in like
sardines. But the like we never
experienced that at all. The worst day was day one where?
It took maybe half an hour at most.

(47:00):
Yeah, that's what, Yeah, it was like 10 minutes.
Or it was like 10 minutes. It was.
The light was insanely long. It looked long, yeah, but I
timed it. It took us about 10 minutes.
Yeah. Yeah, 'cause there was something
we were trying to get to at like11, I think 11 or 12.
Yeah. I forgot the the the first
panel. What was that?
Anaplex. Is that the first thing, the

(47:22):
antiplex one? Yeah, it was like the worst
panel of the weekend was the first panel.
That one was like around. Noon.
I don't. It's well we, I think.
We wanted to get in. By I don't know, but it's
irrelevant. Yeah.
Like we, we were, we were, we were worried that we might not
be able to get in. Yeah.
We ended up getting there. No, no, it was a jeopardy.

(47:43):
You. Rushed in.
Ahead of us, Yeah. That was the first one, yeah.
And then that one, yeah. And the me and the me and Frank
got lost for like 20 minutes. Yeah, 'cause we were.
Or maybe that's why I thought. The line was long.
'Cause we were just circled around for a while.
Yeah, that's why it took us a while.
'Cause we walked an extra. Mile.
Going up and down the the hallways, yeah, this was by far

(48:04):
the smoothest experience for AX and it's gotten better every
year I've went. And yeah, even though I'm not as
locked in as within like seasonals and the current stuff
as it was in years past, there'sstuff for everybody.
And even though you're even if you're not watching the

(48:26):
currently aired things, there are panels like whatever you're
into, there's probably either someone talking about it,
someone's selling merch for it, some collaboration, some
cosplay, meet up. Like there's something for
everyone there. No matter what your interest,

(48:49):
whatever you like, whatever you're there for, you'll you
will find something. Oh, yeah.
What was as your first time, Johnny?
What were compared to like othercons that you go to like you?
Have you gone to Anime North I? That was the first.
Convention that I went to and that was kind of just like it

(49:12):
was a with a. Group of friends.
From like this is like right after I graduated high school
and we were just like fucking around, not really knowing what
we're doing, just sort of like walking.
Around a big like. Warehouse, essentially, that's
what I felt like and like I thought that was like, it was
like cool. Obviously it was like your first
convention, so you're going to be like at least somewhat

(49:33):
excited. But like looking back, they
didn't really do a whole lot. We kind of just walked around,
maybe bought like one or two things and then we just laugh
and like we only went for one day.
I think it was like a three day convention maybe.
But besides that I went to Fan Expo, which again it's.
Like I don't think fan. It's kind of weird.

(49:55):
It's like a lot of people who gothere are like anime fans and
like, a lot of like the stuff that they sell for like merch
and artist valleys anime stuff. But like, yeah, like.
Most of. Panels are like for stuff like
Star Wars and like that stuff. So it's like that's not really
for anime. So I didn't go to any panels on
all that fan Expo. I kind of just like walked

(50:17):
around and so it's like all the other cons that I've gone to has
basically just been walking simulators.
So this was the. First one where you.
Know you got to like, you know, like meet people like sit down
at panels and like kind of like experience things instead of
just falling for capitalism. And honestly, I think like that

(50:39):
was. More worth it.
Than any of the other conventions I've been to because
for $200 I mean like those panels were really good and the
fact that like none of them wereticketed is kind of crazy yeah
and there was still ticket like. There was a bunch of ticketed
things that we just didn't go toyou because we didn't make
happen. Yeah, well, they had like some.

(51:01):
Concerts, I think on the on Friday I want to say yeah,
Thursday or Friday they had somelike ticketed concerts, I
believe because like the girls band cry, they had like A5 band
thing because like, oh, that's right.
Like Flo was here, J capsule sound, J team sound capsule,
Toganashi, whatever, Tanashi, the girls band cry band was

(51:23):
here. So that was a ticketed events.
Yeah, yeah, You mentioned earlier, Pete, it's better to
have too many things than not enough things.
And that I think is really what's burned me on going out to
anime cons lately because the last 'cause the last AXA went to

(51:47):
was 2022 right after I went to the one before the pandemic and
the one right after the pandemic.
And then because like, yeah, there is a lot to do there.
It, it is if you're someone who gets intimidated by crowds and
things like that, like, it can vary.
It maybe not that, but it, it can be very overwhelming.

(52:10):
Oh, 100% can be extreme, especially with the same, like
pictures. People pull us over all the
time. It's like, it looks like it's
like a zombie apocalypse in the picture.
It's like, that's just like the,it's always like, that's like
the opening day, opening time. Everything it's.
Like it it is busy. All cons are busy like I I I

(52:34):
just hate when people make a bigdeal at AX like how busy it is.
Every con is busy, every con is like that.
It's AX is no different. I would actually say AX is
better than most because the conceilings are humongous.
Like the LA Convention Center islike 5 blocks long and three

(52:55):
blocks wide. It's a, it's like a maximum
security prison. It's insane how big it is.
It's like if I I feel more comfortable here than a lot of
other cons and you can go outside at the like, you can go
in between the con like the, thehalls outside too, Even if you

(53:16):
feel like clustered, like you just need space.
Yeah, yeah. You don't have to be inside.
You can do all the time stuff. I think it's a very, it's I
think it's an incredible venue. And I kind of think some things
get blown out of proportion online.
Yeah. Yeah.
You you and I both share this sentiment going back to

(53:36):
following up on not enough things to do that Crunchyroll
Expo. And that was the thing.
It's the worst con ever, ever there God on IP, even though we
left Crunchyroll, I mean, it's why I showed Anime New York
City. It's the it's the exact same
con. Every panel at Anime New York
City is a Crunchyroll influence panel.

(54:00):
There's no fan panels, there's no submitted panels.
It's all things Crunchyroll to talk about, and it makes the
experience so fucking boring. Yeah, yeah.
So they're like AX is just like man, we had.
NASA. Scientists.
So we had like acclaimed journalist, a college professor,

(54:21):
historians, historians, producers, directors, voice
actors. It's like not just the double
voice actors, because a lot of like US and North American cons,
it's all the English dub VH, which like if you're a fan of
dubs is cool. But yeah, getting the people
that are even closer to the source.
When I went to Crunchyroll Expo,I think it was like 22 or 23, it

(54:47):
was basically just Hollow Live Con 'cause every that was when
like Hollow Live was just blown up.
Yeah, absolutely. Blown up.
V Shojo blowing up and it just was just like there was like
three, there was like 2 convention like big rooms and

(55:07):
they all like at least one of them had AV tuber thing going on
at the same time. And if you love V tubers,
awesome, that's cool. But not if you're a Crunchyroll
Expo and like you would expect, you know, you at the time they
were just bought by Sony, so they had like some PlayStation

(55:29):
like statues and things like that, which was neat.
But for fans like or. For the the the grassroots.
Fan the local panels, the the submitted panels like you
mentioned. There was just none of that and
there was not anything to do. And I left early.

(55:50):
Like, I was just like wandering around the San Jose Convention
Center just trying to find anything that would capture my
attention. And so yeah, with that being one
of my most recent convention experiences and with some other
ones fan of Mae in San Jose being the other main convention

(56:11):
that I go to, like that one I'vefallen off on over the last few
years like it's. It's kind of tainted.
My my view on Expos and that's like I've been going to more E
sports stuff, which has been my kind of new thing or not new
thing, but that's what's interested me more.
But I. As much as I.

(56:33):
Hate missing out on things just because there's not enough time.
There's only so much time over the course of the weekend, even
though it feels like you're going to be here forever.
You can only do so many things in that amount of time.
But that's a good problem to have 100% like it feels
shockingly. Short the amount of time that

(56:53):
you actually have when you consider like you're going to
drive there you got to find parking you got to line up for
events you got to like you know walk there it's a big ass place
with a lot of walking this weekend Oh yeah yeah like if
you're. Going from something from one
end of the Convention Center to the other, like East Hall to
West Hall, The amount of times that I walk from.
Peacock Center to like the entertainment hall, then like

(57:17):
back and forth. I probably did that at least 10
times during the course of this convention.
So like the time does. Fly like yesterday was the
biggest one. Where like we got in at like
9:00. Well, you and I did like we got
in there. I was like, yeah, this got
fucked off. Yeah, we got in there like
9:30-ish and like a couple hourslater Pete was there.

(57:40):
And then a couple hours later the day was done.
We were looking wet. Where to get dinner.
And like there is late night stuff.
There's like, I think it was what, like after 8:00,
everything is 18 plus after that.
And so like if you're into that sort of thing, there's even more
stuff for you to go to. But I think like for us, once

(58:04):
the night came, that's when we really started to do more
things. And going out to dinner, hanging
out at the beer garden, beer garden again was amazing.
Love that place. A lot of cool bands.
And yeah, there's just, there's,there's all those stuff to do.

(58:25):
Outside of the con as well, yeah, I mean just downtown LA
yeah. So like that's.
Something you got to like, kind of like.
Find that balance of like, you know, you want to be at the
convention, but you also want tolike, you know, do other shit,
you know, Yeah, if, if you're not a local, you know.
Downtown Los Angeles is a big thing.
It's, there's a, there's, it's one of the biggest cities in the

(58:46):
world with so many things to do that you can even just spend
your whole time, like you can get a single day pass, do the
one thing you want in particularand just hang out in, in Los
Angeles and just do whatever youwant to do, like.
Just don't have that day pass bethe.
Last day and so that's a waste of money if you get the day pass

(59:08):
as your last day. Yeah, that I think I saw like
one person with the Sunday pass, like imagine like spending like.
The Sunday pass to go to JJK andthat's all you get, yeah.
Like you're the world's biggest.JJK fan, that's all you need the
four day you have to balance it out.
You need you need to, you need to get the Ying and Yang of

(59:30):
panels you got. You got to like get hype.
For one, get really disappointedfor the other one.
So then like, you know, you don't, you don't get like the
whiplash from a really good one or really bad one.
Yeah, yeah. Do we you have a another thing
you want to go over? Do I?
Yeah, I mean, I can. Is that like a leading question

(59:51):
'cause I was like, I was like, did I miss something?
No, let me, let me check our I guess maybe we can.
Like maybe we can. Go through like top three things
that we did. I'll just seeing if there's
anything. In particular, like what is like
the top? Three of the things that maybe
bottom 3 as well I'm gonna do I'm.
Gonna do this 2 two ways. Top three things relayed to the

(01:00:15):
con and then the top three things not related to the con.
So in order at the con, the Demon Slider concert.
Number one with a bullet, that was insane.
Number 2 was physics and anime. That panel was incredible.
I'm hearing NASA scientist talk about anime was so cool.

(01:00:35):
And then the sports and anime panel, that was that.
Was great. Top three things outside of the
con. Number one was the Sonic Boom
party that we went to yesterday. That was an absolute blast.
Number 2 is what we had for dinner yesterday at Hatch.
The chicken wings, all chicken wings alone.
The chicken that was that was, that was some good stuff.

(01:00:58):
That was I, I, I don't know whatsauce that they use on that, but
that was the one of the best chicken wing I've ever had.
Yeah, a lot of yuzu. Yuzu sauce on chicken wings.
Go hard as shit. Also the way that they split.
It off, so it. Would cook more evenly on the
grill like I've never, I've never.
Seen that before and. That's so genius.
They like they like butterfly. The chicken wing.

(01:01:21):
That way it all cooks evenly, which I I had never seen.
Like whenever I see chicken wings on skewers, it's just it,
it's just straight through. Yeah.
And then #3 I'm going to go withDay 2.
Me and Trent were really hot, and we went to a convenience
store and I got a Gatorade and an Ice Cream Sandwich that was

(01:01:42):
really good in the moment. It was the.
Most mundane in the moment, I was.
So thirsty and so hot and just being at the con and like, I had
a headache because we went therebecause I, I was getting like a
pretty bad headache. So I didn't go buy like Advil or
something like that. And just getting like just a
huge swing of Gatorade into eating an Ice Cream Sandwich.

(01:02:05):
Yeah, that, man, that moment I gave you your second win, that
was just like, I don't know. I feel like it's like.
In wrestling terminology, it waslike I was going for the hot tag
and I got it like I, I hit it and the crowd popped and I was
like, I'm back, baby. I, I, when we were looking, when
we were going through the store, like the, the, the, the ice

(01:02:28):
cream fridge, it was calling outto me.
I was like, like that sounds. Really.
Good, but I don't want to be eating ice cream by myself.
Let let me ask Pete if he gets one.
This is this is OK. Here's the moment picture.
You are standing still and there's two things walking at
you. One of them is like Jessica Alba

(01:02:50):
from Sin City, and the other is a thing of ice cream.
In that moment, I was staring sohard at the ice cream.
If Jessica Alba was walking pastme, I would have even noticed
like tunnel vision. That's how much I needed that
Ice Cream Sandwich. I was so hot.
I was, I had such a bad headacheand man, you know, a Cam switch

(01:03:13):
can really save a man. Oh.
This guy, this man spent like $200, bought a plane ticket,
went to LA, pop through events. That chicken, that Ice Cream
Sandwich I bought? Ice Cream Sandwich you don't
get. It it's not about.

(01:03:35):
When you if you climb mount. Everest the the most the, the
thing that will stick out to youis the journey to Everest.
It's not the peak, It's the journey.
My whole journey of AX is a series of steps along Everest.
And one of those is get hanging out with my boy and getting
Gatorade ice cream sandwiches. And that shit rocked.

(01:03:59):
Yeah. We, we were on the same
wavelength there. Yeah, it's a fat kid, Mama.
It's just like, you know, ice cream.
We didn't even say it. We just like, looked at each
other like Ice Cream Sandwich, duh.
I was being like, I was like trying to be courteous.
Just if you didn't get one, I will get you 1 so you're not
left out because I'm outside already.

(01:04:21):
Trent's still inside. He like, looks at me.
He's like yeah, like you all getI cured.
I'm like looking at him and I'm eating an Ice Cream Sandwich.
I'm like bro it's all over your face.
Bro, I have 4 steps ahead of youalready.
Was this? Yesterday, yeah, we we were.
It was. Two years ago, I think it was
Friday when we were going to meet up with you because you
just finished something. Oh, OK, I wasn't there.

(01:04:44):
Yeah, it was that one of the oneof the events.
That you had gone to, you were at like, oh, I forgot that the
Crunchyroll you were. At like trash chase or
something. No, that was day one.
OK, it doesn't. The day doesn't matter.
Was it the Novo thing? It was the Connor, I think.
Oh, maybe. Yeah.
Yeah, That's that's a pretty good top list.

(01:05:05):
Yeah. OK.
You got to top that. I don't know if anyone's on top
that. My Yeah, No, mine's not gonna I
I don't have a punch line. Do you have a toss 3 yet?
Yeah, my top one too is a toss up between between demon Slayer
and panty and stalking premiere demons like I'm I'm not a demon

(01:05:27):
Slayer fan. It's if you've talked with me,
you know I'm not a demon Slayer fan.
I I love everything surrounding demon Slayer as far as the
production goes, you foldable istop top 2 studio for me.
Top three. I guess top three and it's not 3

(01:05:48):
top three and it's not 3 and andit's yeah, I don't think it is
3. So yeah, yeah, yeah.
So yeah. What do you say?
Like it's like a top two. It's like, so it's two of them,
right. Maybe I'll, I'll leave that up
to the audience. Somebody is one of the studios

(01:06:09):
of all time. It is one of the studios of all
time. Comment below what you think my
top 3 is. Based on those context.
Clues. OK, I'm not going to spoil.
Yeah. So, yeah.
But in Gynax and Trigger is theymay also be in that top three
list. I didn't consider Gynax in that

(01:06:31):
list because they've been essentially dead for many years.
They're studio Gonzo. Bye, bye, bye bye.
That's funny because there's an actual studio called Gonzo.
Let's Go. That's called comedy.
Let's go. Zing zinger, do I have the the

(01:06:51):
sound on here? I don't I don't want to just
start pressing Wait, I think I might.
Where is it just top of random 10?
I didn't have the audio turned on for a little.
While wait how anti climbing andmaybe it works just edit it in.
Afterwards. Oh, wait.
Hold on, hold on. I heard it.
You guys heard it, but it was. Because you don't have that.

(01:07:15):
But yeah, so I want to say, but I just absolutely love
orchestras and I love about the best event.
For like 2 of us is one that we never intended to, Yeah, we
didn't intend so. As as much of A trigger in Gynex

(01:07:36):
fan I was or am, I think Demon Slayer might have to take one,
two. Yeah, 2 being panty and stalking
'cause that was really good. That was just so fun.
The vibes, people were going crazy.
And yeah, the energy in there. That I love trigger panels

(01:07:58):
because they're usually, you know, Hiri Maishi and whatever,
like whoever's on the crew that's up there, they're always
just, they're just Bros. They're just chilling, having a
good time bantering with each other.
Like they look like they're having so much fun and that

(01:08:19):
energy gets passed down to everyone else.
And it, it was just such a good time.
It was really loud, very loud, very loud.
But I think, I think that's my number two.
Number three for me is probably Persona, just because like the

(01:08:44):
game, like the first 45 minutes of it, I do not care for the
game, the mobile games, whatever.
To me, I just really like to seethe Linn performance, which is
really awesome. It was really low key kind of
intimate 'cause she was just on the on the panel stage, just in
AT shirt and jeans just like yeah, let's go, yeah, party

(01:09:06):
time. So that was probably top three
in the con outside of the con, number one is easily that Sonic
boom party. It was you when you're in A and
I and I enjoy going to like the the con raves and the con dance

(01:09:27):
parties. Like those ones are cool because
like how often are you going to go to a club where like like
anime? Nights, you know, anime.
Hip hop nights, they're not a common thing at bars and clubs,
not at all. And so when you get that moment
to jam out to, you know, whatever Naruto opening that

(01:09:51):
everyone loves or you hear the Jimbo hit, Yeah, you hear that
hit and you're everyone just like, Oh my God, it's happening.
You know, at the moment. You get the you get the cruel
angels thesis going. You get the it's all you always
except this one. You always get a simple and

(01:10:12):
clean going like you when you hear those hits and you you just
take a step back to see where you are and you see everyone
else being so passionate becauseit's anime music is so weird
because or it's not weird, but it's different than regular

(01:10:32):
music. While we would pop off for Miss
New Booty. Oh yeah.
Or I don't know, big time man, or any other like song like song
that yeah, anything like that. Like sure, like that's cool.
That's fun. Whatever.

(01:10:53):
It's a mainstream. Like not many people have as
deep of a personal connection tomusic as they do with like anime
music O PS and 80s. And so when you see a song that
a DJ mixes beautifully in with another beat, that just makes
you say holy shit, what? Wait, what?

(01:11:15):
Yeah, Like, and seeing everyone else get so happy about that,
that was that was incredible. And you know when there's a song
that comes on and you don't evenknow the person to your left or
to your right and you are swag surfing?
Yeah. Yeah.
Like swag surfing comes on or something like that.
Like when you have those momentswhere you just grab the person

(01:11:36):
next to you and the other personnext to you and you start
jumping around in a circle screaming at the top of your
lungs to 'cause every time we touch, I get the feeling like
having that moment just that makes the whole night worth.
Yeah, it's all me and the boys on that one.

(01:11:56):
Montgomery opening shows up. Yeah, yeah, like.
It's, yeah, it's like that exactly.
Yeah. And like you, you get that That
happens in real life, and it doesn't happen unless you put
yourself out there to do it. And I think that's because I

(01:12:17):
rarely go to bars and clubs, like, or dance clubs outside of
convention weekends. But yeah.
That's. That's easily the best thing
that those are life, not necessarily life altering moms.
Those are moments that you remember till the end of time.
Yeah. I mean, yeah, that party was

(01:12:37):
just like, just like the venue was so cool.
Everybody was so cool. Like it was just.
It was just like a really just great time.
Yeah. I don't know, It's hard to
describe. Yeah.
My and it's it's always funny when you go to those things and
you see the cosplayers there andother like celebrities and

(01:12:58):
influencers. Yeah.
We saw lean beef Patty there Yeah, Lean.
We forgot to mention that in thelast time.
Is that like the Jack girl? Yeah, she.
Was just. Chiller.
Yeah, we were. We sat down.
I was like, that looks like leanbeef Patty.
I was like, Oh no. And then there's a dude next to
her like they were streaming. I was like, Oh yeah, it's her.
And then like seven people came over to get pictures with, oh,

(01:13:19):
was she, was she cosplaying or something?
No. Was she just chilling?
Was she just chilling, man? She just chilling.
I was just. Like the fuck, That was like the
first time I like I saw like somebody.
I'm like the like, like a YouTube, I guess.
Yeah, living in Minnesota, we don't have the Youtubers.
So I was like, oh, what the, that's you.
I've seen like 8 of your videos.Yeah, follow you on Instagram or

(01:13:43):
whatever. Yeah, like you, you always hear
I, I mentioned this that night when we were there, but you hear
like, oh, you're in Los Angeles. There's influencers and content
creators everywhere. Like you see them everywhere
there. Everyone's famous.
And that was the first time where I was like, oh, shit,
yeah. I was like, oh shit, this like,
you actually met someone famous.Yeah, yeah.

(01:14:04):
Like they're actually. Yeah, I think she's like, I
could look it up, but I feel like she has like a mil plus.
I think so. Yeah, yeah.
She's, yeah, she's. She's pretty big over the last
years. I mean like, like in both ways.
She's. Pretty big.
Yeah, She's she's jacked. And that, yeah, that was that
was really cool. King Vader, almost 3 mil.

(01:14:25):
That's just YouTube alone. That's just YouTube.
Jeez, yeah, she's. I didn't realize she'd blown up
that much. That's incredible for her.
Yeah. Like, yeah, King Vader was
there. King Vader was there.
Yep. YouTube creator, TikTok and Vine
back in the day, all that good stuff.
Yeah, that was, that was incredible.

(01:14:47):
Kumar was there. Kumar.
Yeah, shout out. Kumar #2 for me, I think that's
really about it for oh, what's your best food item of the
weekend? That's what I wanted to know.
For me, I'm like, not restaurant.
You'll be like. You'll be like.
Jack-in-the-box. Waffle fries you're like not
restaurants. Grinding sauce burrito singular

(01:15:07):
item is by far jack-in-the-box grinded not just kidding.
Woo Ichiban. For me, it's it's back at hatch
and it wasn't the wings. The wings are really good.
But for me it was the the language of the beef tongue.

(01:15:28):
Oh, that's fucking yeah that. Just this.
Guy this guy doesn't like. Beef heed.
I hated it. Which is fine because you guys
got to eat my portion. It worked out great.
This guy, This guy was smoking. Something last night like I I
just thought it tasted bad. I don't know what I can tell
you. I I understand, 'cause yeah, Is,
is it a texture thing? Yeah, 100 million percent.

(01:15:49):
I get that. Cause like to me that tasted
that felt more like the pork belly that like it felt like I
was biting into a fatty, juicy piece of Kakuni.
It reminds it. Weirdly reminds me of like
sashimi, like the texture of like it's just crushing in your
mouth fatty. Fatty Altodo Yeah, like you know

(01:16:11):
what I'm talking about. Like it's just like you don't
even have to chew it, it just melt.
Yeah, yeah, I hated that. Trent.
Brought this, like Korean beef jerky.
Yeah. And like you, you don't It
doesn't require you like to RIP it off.
Yeah, like, it's just like a really easy to eat.
I'm like, I don't know, you don't like the mushy stuff.
I. Feel like I need to battle my

(01:16:31):
beef. Jerky sometimes and like I was
like, that's kind of how I feel about the beef tongue.
I'm like, there's no battle withthis.
This is just good. It was my, it was my first time
because for me beef tongue language mostly associated with
Mexican, Mexican food and taquerias and getting my lengua

(01:16:53):
tacos or burritos or whatever. Like that's what I have always
associated with it with. And that was my first time
having non Mexican langua, whichI think they even like
acknowledged because they they called it like something a la
lengua. So they still had like the, the

(01:17:14):
Mexican or the not the Mexican, the the Spanish name and the
Spanish style of how it was prepared, but with an Asian
twist. Yeah, 'cause that's not usually.
How beef tongue is prepared in like Asian food?
Cause usually it's like served like flat, not like served like
diced and cubed. It's like they kind of.
Like have a little grill like grill?
Like, and it's like, it's just like maybe they got like a

(01:17:35):
massive beef tongue. Like, yeah, they have.
Like they'll cut it. Really.
Thin and then like you grill it over like kind of like the
grill. Yeah, that's.
Completely different, yes, like with that one you get.
More of a crispy texture, yeah. Whereas this one you just get
like. Whole.
Chunks of like pure fat, Yeah. But that was, that was like
really good. So.
Yeah. So maybe it was closer.
To that Mexican style of preparation.

(01:17:57):
Mexican style preparation, but Asian.
Ingredients. Yeah, with Asian ingredients.
In Asian like sauces or I guess more specifically Japanese style
sauces with like the yuzu sauce and everything.
Yeah, that was number. That was my #2 most incredible
thing over the weekend. That was outside of the con.
Oh my #3 outside of the con. What else they what about the

(01:18:25):
Korean BBQ? Oh yeah, Korean BBQ.
Korean BBQ. Always hit always.
It's always good. It's always good, even though
like oh the the oh the pork beltwith the.
Ribs. The.
Ribs. Dude I feel it's crazy how it's
all just food. It's.

(01:18:46):
Hard to explain if. Anyone's ever been to Korean
barbecue and he ever gotten the ribs?
I feel like they've always been, like, fine, Yeah.
Like every time I've gotten ribs, it's been like, yeah,
these are ribs. Yeah.
That's what I ordered. Yeah, these ribs were like.
Five forks. Well, they were 5.
Fork ribs. And I was like, how what is

(01:19:09):
happening? Like I feel like something was
wrong. Like I feel like I sold
something of mine to get these delicious wings to my table in 7
minutes. Yeah, it's yeah.
When you get ribs at a Korean BBQ place, it's either like
short ribs which are which are cut differently or if they're
like the whole rib style, it's like Chinese style maybe where

(01:19:32):
it has like that sweet glaze on it.
And these were sweet and they had a glaze, but it was closer
to like BBQ like American BBQ style with like a Kochu Chang
sauce. Like Chinese ribs are usually
not like. Slow cooked or like super crisp,
but they're super soft. They usually like got some like
fight back, you know, like they fight back, you know, like yeah,

(01:19:54):
whereas these they. Just same thing as the pork
belly just kind of melted off the bone and melted in your
mouth. And it yeah, five forks out of
five, both of those things, the pork belly and the ribs or not
pork belly. You see, I, I imagine it, it
just, it feels like pork belly to me.

(01:20:15):
But yeah, it was beef tongue. Both of those five forks out of
five. Yeah.
I I mean maybe another thing outside of the sound.
Sound bar SoundCloud. What was that boom box?
Oh Sonic boom Sonic boom. I don't even have Sonic boom box
the the ice cream truck that wasposing.

(01:20:36):
Yo right dude, that was the. There.
So that was so wild, so right. Outside of.
The of the venue that the party was at was the most perfectly
placed, convenient, most convenient ice cream truck just

(01:20:57):
chilling there. And it was it was like a soft
serve style truck and getting inthe way MO with a cup of a root
beer milkshake and New edge shaved ice ice like that was
that was awesome. But I I tied that more into the
Sonic as a whole. Yeah, I think that's why it made
it so good. But it's like, imagine going out

(01:21:19):
to a bar we danced for, I don't know, 2 1/2 three hours.
I am this. I am the smelliest human being
known to Earth. Like I'm covered in sweat.
Get outside. I'm like, oh, this feels so
good. And I look to my left and
there's a motherfucking ice cream truck.

(01:21:40):
I'm like I'm. Dreaming.
And I walk over, I'm like, OK, it's probably going to be 11.
Dollars for whatever. It was like 4 bucks.
I'm like, I'm sweating my ass off.
I get this delicious shaved ice.It cools me out.
I was like, there's such a like a bow tie.
Yeah. To the night.

(01:22:00):
It's just like, it's the caveat. It's like having a really good
meal and then ending it with like, incredible dessert.
Yeah. And I was just like, man, this
was like everything I wanted andmore.
Yeah. I couldn't ask for anything
more. Yeah.
That. Yeah, that was, yeah.
That kind of ties into number one of the coolest things, but I

(01:22:22):
think that deserved an honorablemention.
Yeah, so that. That's my top three in and out
of the con for me, Johnny. So you didn't go to the you, you
stayed. I legally could not.
Yeah. Well.
You, you, you had a good night'srest that night.
You got some ketchup on some stuff.
So number one was on getting more.
Than six hours of Leon. Kidding, I mean.

(01:22:44):
I I got 7 on the first night. Yeah.
I don't think I hit more than 4 the whole week.
It's crazy. I haven't gotten more than four
hours of sleep since like, Tuesday night.
That's insane, dude. Trent's a tank.
Yeah. They.
Have to survive. Beyond those energy drinks,
yeah, it might have been a week because.
Yeah, the night before when we've been out here since

(01:23:06):
Wednesday, That night before I hardly got any sleep.
So yeah, like without. So.
Yeah. So what was your top three?
Because you kind of, you had your own list of panels and
things that you. Yeah, I kind of wanted like.
Went off to do a bunch of my ownthings, but I think the number
one thing for me is surprisinglynot the Demon Slayer concert.

(01:23:28):
It was the free room panel, but not specifically because of the
free room panel, but more specifically what I got to do
after which is meeting Evan Call.
That was like I think that has to be 1 of like the that like
that. I don't think there's going to
be anything else I do this year that's as cool as that.
Yeah, that's sick. Like, just.

(01:23:48):
Being like meeting. Up after the panel, you know,
like getting to meet like Evan call on stage with the voice
actor of Stark and the director, seeing him play the piano on
stage for everyone. And then like, you know,
afterwards coming to, you know, like this meet up, meeting a
bunch of other free rune cosplayers.

(01:24:09):
And then right as we get to the final shot, I notice it's like
literally just like an anime moment.
You notice something like, you know, this guy stepping on my
cave like, oh, what's this turn around?
Oh, it's the composer for free run like boom, just right there
chilling like he's like oh sorryI'm on your Cape.
I'm like Nah bro, it's fine. Like oh shit man, like.

(01:24:30):
Like just in. The moment you're just like, how
is this even happening? You know, and you know like we
took a few like we got a couple of pictures together.
We did some poses and stuff and you know they left immediately
after he was with the director as well.
Well, not, sorry, not the director, producer, producer,
yes, but it was just. Like in that.
One moment you're just like, damn, this was worth coming in

(01:24:52):
here in this God damn cosplay, burning my ass off for two days.
Like, you know, like that's whatmakes it worth it.
You know, like you coming to these cons, walking around for
hours on end, your legs are killing you, 4 hours of sleep.
But like moments like that, you're like, yeah, that's what I
came here for you. You really got to dig.

(01:25:13):
Deep, you know, to find find that inner strength within you
when you're tired and your feet hurt and your legs hurt and you
just got it was so hot when we were when we were like.
Taking photos there as well. Like we came out, it was like
around noon, so literally the hottest time of the day.
And like they were having like issues like setting up as well
because I think like the guy came late.

(01:25:35):
So we were just kind of chillingaround for like, maybe half an
hour, and like, they get here, they start organizing the event
and where they're taking pictures, standing still for the
camera. The deal was taking forever.
And then, yeah, it's just like sitting there in the heat,
you're just like, oh, man, why did like, so you're just sitting
there contemplating your actions.

(01:25:55):
Like, I came here in the LA heatand all this get up.
Like, why am I doing this? This is even worth it.
And then it's just like moments like that, you're just like,
yeah, that's why we love anime. This is what we came here to do.
And yeah, that's got to be like, not just highlight of like this
event, but probably like highlight of the year.

(01:26:18):
Yeah, I mean. I, I like, I kind of had a, I've
had a similar like meet and greet type of experience where
you meet someone that either like, has like has their hands
in or is tied to, you know, likeone of your favorite properties.
And yeah, it's like it's something that you will always
like. I always bring that up whenever

(01:26:40):
I can. Like when I did it and I met
Yoshiyuki Satamoto, the the character designer for Ava and
the the writer of the manga for it.
Like that. Like, that was my moment.
Did you like, actually get to speak with him?
Yeah, 'cause he did at. The first Axi went to he.
He did a meet and greet 'cause he was promoting Great

(01:27:01):
Pretender. He was with, he was with wit.
And so I, I went to the autograph signing like the the
wits, the great pretender autograph signing like I don't
care about any of these other guys.
I don't care about this. Sign all of my Ava shit.
Please. And he started like drawing art
in it. He drew like a Ray caricature

(01:27:22):
and and his handlers were like, stop that.
Like you can't do that for everysingle person.
I was the first one in line. He's like, yeah, yeah, you, you
were dedicated. Oh yeah, I was.
I was the 1st. Person in line for that.
And but yeah, so when you have those sort of moments where you
meet, you know, it's like, don'tmeet your heroes.
It's like sometimes it's pretty cool.
Sometimes you're chill. I think it made it cooler.

(01:27:44):
That it was completely. Unexpected.
Yeah. Like for me, you know, I came to
the convention. I saw, like, Evan Carl was going
to be like, here. And I was like, oh, maybe I'll
get a chance to, like, see him and, like, say hi and stuff.
I walk into the theater, I was like, yeah, no, not having any.
So, you know, I'll kind of just accepted that as like went on
with my day. And then there's just suddenly
get that moment when you least expect it is just.

(01:28:08):
I think that just made it so much better.
Yeah, yeah. Anything else that's in your in
your top? I was just, I was just worse.
Two or three. Yeah, so #2 I mean.
I think it's going to have to goto the demons later, man.
Like, yeah, that was probably interms of like pure, like
quality, probably the best panelat the entire convention.

(01:28:29):
I don't think anything else is. I can't believe that was free I.
Can't believe that was free. Like if that was I think.
If that was something that took place outside of AX, it would be
like at least like $100 a ticketor something.
I think 100,000,000%, yeah. At least, at least, if not more.
Orchestra tickets are not cheap.Yeah, like it wasn't just an

(01:28:50):
orchestra. It was a live voice acting with
two different, with two different voice actors because
usually they only have one. And then it had the dub and the
sub and and like the performancethat they had.
Like there was some other voice acting stuff that we saw like,
you know, like Starks voice actor that was pretty good.
But like the amount of like, just like the sheer performance

(01:29:13):
that they pulled off during those like panels for Demon
Slayer was just like incredible.Yeah.
Alex Lee. Like he's already said, like
he's already one of my favorite English voice actors.
He's so good. Yeah, he's killed it.
Like, I know. I don't even watch.
Dub And I was like, yeah, this guy, this guy makes it worth it
Yeah like when I watched Demon Slayer.

(01:29:33):
Who? Was in sub I didn't even know
Alex Lee was on the dub team forit.
And, and him going out there andhe's he's so passionate about
like his works and what he's on and the communities that he taps
in with. Like, like I for me, where I
really got into 'cause I don't follow him on TikTok, 'cause I

(01:29:55):
know, I know he's very big on social media.
But for me, when he played Luke in the Street Fighter six, he
was all in on like the the marketing and the memes and
playing, playing up the every like all the all the quotes that
Luke would have in that was whenI was like, OK, all right, He

(01:30:18):
was legit. It's just cool when like the
guy. Who's working in the show is
just as excited for the show as you are.
Yeah. Yep, Yep.
And that was. Like the same energy with Stark.
From the free run panel, where like, he looked like he was just
as happy to be like the voice actor as we were to, like, see
him, like, perform. Yeah, yeah.

(01:30:39):
Yeah, he's both. Both of them were awesome.
And and Tanjiro's Japanese voiceactor, that was awesome as well.
Like. That like recreation of like
that scene in episode 19, that was really good.
That was just phenomenal. Yeah.
So that's. That's two.
What's three? I think 3 would have to.

(01:31:01):
Be the Crunchyroll Expo specifically because they so
like they didn't really announcea whole lot going into it.
They were just like, oh, we're going to have some industry
events. Don't do the chant.
I'm going to leave right now. Well.
I won't do the chant, but I'll do.
It no, I'll do it the. People are asking for the hype.
Squad is not in the craw chi roll, craw chi roll.

(01:31:26):
All right, all right. Now that we've dealt with the.
Hype squad. They were taken out to the back
and taken care of, but just so the first thing that they
announced and to be I did kind of expect this because I was at
the Doctor Stone premiere beforethe country Expo where they had
the voice actor for Sanku, Rioske Kobayashi I believe, And

(01:31:50):
he was the was the voice actor for Sanku, but he is also the
voice actor for Subaru in re. 0.And so they didn't say anything
officially, but I was like, you know, he's at this panel like an
hour or so before the next one and the Crunchyroll XML, you
know, like a lot of people are hyped for RE0 Season 4.

(01:32:14):
I was like, you know, maybe he'sgoing to be here.
And he was the first event there.
And so that was, you know, like meeting the voice actor, the
main character of my favorite show.
That was definitely something that I was very excited for him
that yeah, that Crunchyroll panel.
Was kind of like was. Like outside.

(01:32:35):
Of the full metal that what was the name of that Anaflex?
No, the the oh, shadows of the OR demons of the shadow room.
Demons of the shadow room. Like outside of that, I feel
like you probably got the most out of that as far as like like
shows that you're interested in the elders shows.
Maybe I'm wrong. I didn't really care about the

(01:32:56):
other. Shows.
I. Was just there because.
I was just like, I'll be happy if they announce one thing about
RE0, the entire panel, and then it was the first thing I was
revealed. So that was, there was a that
was I think RE0. Had the most.
Shown because they had like an actual trailer that was

(01:33:17):
revealed. At the panel.
Mushoka Ted Say had a full. Trailer Oh yeah, that's true.
And. You and I are.
Polar opposites as did as well, but I feel like they wanted to
make. RE0 like the highlight of the
event because they brought out the voice actor for that, but
oh, they also brought out the the bones, you know, the Co
yeah, yeah, that was a pretty. Big one as.

(01:33:38):
Well, but yeah, I think overall like just that like being able
to meet like Subaru's voice actor, that was that definitely
mix it up during my topsling andthen outside, outside of.
The con, I mean, I think it's just all going to be.
Food, again, the same thing is. Basically, yeah, because we did
most of the same things outside of the con, so.

(01:33:59):
Pork belly scallops. Oh, was there, I mean, we didn't
really talk about it too much outside of the food, like
because we did Little Tokyo after, after like we left the,
because the, the Expo or all thehalls closed at 3:00 because the

(01:34:20):
closing ceremony was at 4:00. So we dipped out and then we
decided to go to Little Tokyo since like everything else, you
did the same thing before that with us, like just for the sake.
Of being different. Was there anything or for giving
a different answer, was there anything like from Little Tokyo

(01:34:41):
that that kind of I guess, I guess it.
Might. Be like the nostalgia of like
feeling like I'm back in Japan again.
So it's lower accurate. Japan, Little Tokyo.
Yeah, it's like I got my anime arc.
You know, like I got the return to the home village before the

(01:35:02):
final battle thing. You know, like, being able to
like, kind of be like, oh, wow, like this is like, this seems
oddly familiar, even though thisis my first time here.
And this is like, Oh yeah, I lived in actual Japan for a
year, you know, like being. Able to like see all the.
Stuff they had like the same stores and stuff and like book
off and like. The.
Billions of figures on the walls.

(01:35:24):
I mean, obviously it's way more expensive here in LA, but that's
the price you pay. But I guess in terms of like,
OK, let's just start with the food because I do have something
that I don't think we've mentioned.
And that was the the pork chop that I had at the what was the
restaurant called? It was like the IT was the Yard

(01:35:45):
House, Yard House, Yard House. Yeah, that pork chop might be
like the most tender pork chop I've ever had.
Yard. House is good I.
I was so surprised. I like it A.
Lot you know it's. Always like I was looking at.
I was looking at it on the menu.It was like healthy option, Thai
pork chop. I'm like, I mean, this can't be
that good because, you know, it's in the healthy section,

(01:36:06):
right? Yeah.
But you know, like I was lookingat like, the other stuff in the
menu. Like it wasn't really like
standing out to me that much. I was like, you know what, I'll
try this. I was like, Thai pork chop just
got some, like, sauces, got someveggies on the side and like,
this looks good. Like I did not expect that to be
so good. It was a really good pork.
Chop. Yeah, it it looked.
Good. Like I like chain restaurants,

(01:36:27):
you know, like Applebee's, Chili's, BJ's, you know, things
like that. Like you don't necessarily
expect like the the steak, the the pork chops.
Like usually at least at least is the way I do is that I'll
save that stuff for somewhere that's more specialized, like a

(01:36:48):
steakhouse or something like that.
Whereas you played a little safer at those chain type of
places. But yeah, that looked really
good. That was great.
I man, I think it's hard to say.If that was the best thing I ate
this week. But wow.
OK, I think. That it was the most.

(01:37:08):
Surprisingly. Good thing this week because
like we didn't plan on going there.
We were just like stumbled across it was like nearby the
convention. So I was like, it's all reliable
for. The LA life, Well, not for me.
I had no idea what to watch you.Know it's usually I'll get a.
Fine meal. Yeah, Yeah.
But yeah, I was. Like and then.
Besides that, you know, like going to Hatch and like the

(01:37:29):
Korean BBQ place, those were obviously really good, but I'm
just trying to think of like what we did outside the
convention that wasn't food. Even like we, we stayed at.
The beer garden pretty late too once like the main con stuff was
done. No, Maybe that would have been
cool if it wasn't. For the fact that I was

(01:37:50):
operating on like 4 hours of sleep and 1/2 in like in a coma.
Yeah, yeah, we all were. Yeah, you were.
You were usually dead by that night.
You're like. Also didn't help that I was
walking around in. Cosplay all day.
Yeah, yeah, that's and this is. Like I'm just like, dude, my.
Eyes are fucking killing me. My back from carrying this
fucking Cape. Like you know what else's eyes
are killing me? Me, I think we should wrap up

(01:38:13):
yeah, I think it's been a long weekend.
I think we, yeah, we've all given our thoughts either
tonight or past days, so we're kind of like rehashing things.
But yeah, go to AX, have fun. It's an incredible con.
I had a blast, and I can't wait for the next time.
All right, so I guess last question.

(01:38:36):
Another another AX Wait, is it? Oh, yeah.
Did it sell you? Yeah, 100%.
I think I would. Have to look.
At the list of like events. Yeah, I don't even.
Care. I'm not really like I'm not.
Really like up to date on like what might be happening next
year, but at the same time, you know you can change that.

(01:38:57):
Just watch the shows or just watch the the seasonal first
impressions and reviews. Yeah, if only there was a
platform that could fill you in on everything.
Oh wait, you're listening to it right now.
Well, that would require me to. Actually watch anime so might be

(01:39:17):
a hard sell. Just watch anime YouTube.
Yeah, just watch. I'll just watch the recap.
Yeah. Watch some Yeah, let's generate
a recap on YouTube. Listen to our reviews.
That's not. Johnny's not getting the point
that we're trying to say is listen to us, yeah.
Maybe one of these days one. Of these.
Days. But yeah, I think that that
wraps up our weekend. Yeah.

(01:39:41):
Yeah. So thanks for if you made it
this far as you watch all four of these.
Yo, thank you. You know, the vibes already,
like com, subscribe, leave, review, whatever platform you're
watching, listening to us on. And hopefully next time we do
AX, we'll do something similar. So I want to say on behalf of

(01:40:01):
Johnny and Trent for taking timeout of the night to come talk
everything AX with me. We will say thank you and we'll
see you next time. I didn't.
Peace so bad. Bye bye, bye bye bye bye bye,
bye bye, bye, bye, bye bye.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
