(00:21):
me up again. Hello, ladies and gentlemen,
welcome to what do you say anime.
I'm your host Peter. On today's episode, the warm
weather is over. Now everyone get on your hoodies
and leggings because it's pumpkin spice season.
Baby ball is just around the corner.
Thus brings us a new slate of new shows that we are going to
talk about. We'll be going over new
properties first, but we will save some time at the end for

(00:43):
sequels. If you're looking for specific
shows in the description below, we will have time stamps or time
stamps. Time stamps for all the show.
I'll believe that it that's justfunny.
For all the shows that we're covering.
Joining me today, it is highest of spirits but lowest of energy.
We have miles. So you scanned over some of the
shows next season. What are your initial thoughts

(01:05):
from what you've seen so far? Yeah, I I'm pretty excited to
have this discussion because we this is like the second time
that we've had this new bit where you've you've gone more in
depth and I'm going to do like I'm going to be your everyman
who isn't researching this, getting the first impression.
Pete's the researched one. It's nice.
My first impression of this season as far as what we are

(01:26):
watching right, these new properties things getting their
first animated season, is that the pickings feel a little slim
to me. There's a few, there's a wide
amount of shows that I think have promised, but none of them
are really in the same vein. I think that for any given
person, unless you're just the person who always watches 20

(01:47):
seasonals, you know, you maybe you'll only find one or two of
these shows that really strike your interest.
You know, because nothing strikes me.
A initial thing is like everyonemust watch this type of show.
OK. Yeah.
So Speaking of like doing research for anybody out there
who's interested, I do now. I do like a quarterly PV

(02:09):
reviewed preview type of thing where I check out all the
previews before coming into thisepisode.
So I have a better understandingbecause I think sometimes the
synopsis doesn't really tell thestory.
We need to see some of what's going on in these PVS to see if
it catches our interest. And there were a few that did.
But I would agree with you for the most part this season.

(02:30):
I think if anybody was looking for a catch up season, this is
it. There's a few shows that really
stood out to me when I watched their PV, but significantly less
than I thought. So going into most seasonal
seasons, I guess I try to shoot for somewhere in like the 20
range and I'll probably drop a handful and then by the end of

(02:52):
it, it's somewhere in like the 1516 range.
I think this season I'm shootingfor like 14 to start and then
maybe end up with like 10 because they're of watching
essentially. I think we watched like 25 PVS.
3 stood out to me. So some of the shows that I had

(03:14):
high hopes on, their PVS really didn't do a lot for me.
And then some shows that two shows that I knew nothing about
really stood out to me. And we're going to be going over
both of those in this today. But we're going to start out
with the one that I'm looking forward to most for new
properties, and that's wand dance.
I've seen people also refer to this as one dance, which I don't

(03:36):
think is correct, but I don't know.
So yeah, I think it is. It is one dance.
Well I don't know exactly how it's supposed to work but like
the Japanese is UN so UN dance want but sometimes EU is for
used for West and then there's asynonym that says one dance.

(03:59):
I I don't know but if I was justreading.
The one as in the number one, not WOII Do see that.
WWON is how I would do that. It's definitely.
I wouldn't ever think it was 1. OK, because people are making
Drake memes about it. So like that's why I just want
to be sure because I know a lot of these friends know Drake
memes. What I'm talking about wand

(04:20):
dance. Yeah, it's a you'd have like
some fun word play, but no, I I think it would be like WON
dance. OK, perfect is my.
Perfect. I just saw memes with people
doing W or ONE dance. I was like huh, huh.
OK, so let's get let's get into wand dance real quick.
Oh my God. Kotani, there we go, is starting

(04:43):
high school and he plans to do what he's always does go along
with his friends, keep quiet andnot draw too much attention to
himself. After all, it's hard enough to
get by with just a stutter like his hey, Speaking of stuttering
me stuttering during the synopsis, why make things worse
by standing out from the crowd? But then he sees his Oh my God
dude, this is not my day. But then he sees another first

(05:06):
year Hikari dancing like no one is watching or like she doesn't
care who sees her. It makes Kotani wonder, could he
reach that same level of freedomto find his way to Wanda?
He does something he never thought he could.
He joined the dance club after all.
Every routine begins with a single step, right?

(05:27):
Going Kotani and Wanda as they freestyle their way to life and
love. OK, couple things with this one.
Madhouse is doing it. My favorite studio.
It's going to look great. Second of all, this whole thing
centers around dancing. So the dancing needs to be like
the biggest focal point I feel like in the show and it needs to

(05:49):
be good. So what did this studio do?
Since all the since all of BT s s or wasn't doing their military
service, they hired the choreographer for BTS to be like
a dance director for this to oversee the dancing.
So stuff like that just makes itso like they have like a lot of
love going into this project. The PV though scared me.

(06:12):
Some of the dancing looked great, kind of like in the
synopsis when they over when themain character Kotani sees
Wanda. Well actually it makes a lot
more sense why it's called wand dance now that her name is
Wanda. When he sees Wanda dancing for
the first time it's really well done.
The animation looked great and in the PV they were showing some

(06:32):
other like random snippets of dancing and that was in CG and
it didn't look as good as the first dancing.
So I feel like with this like mix type of animation with
dancing, we're going to get somelike stunners and some other
ones that to me just are going to feel out of place because of
the switch of animation. So it scares me a little bit to

(06:55):
see how the production level is going to be.
But because it is Madhouse, I'm throwing my blind faith into
them and hoping that overall theadaptation is great.
It's just that we don't have dancing anime really.
Like we have performance art dancing, but in terms of like
break dancing and stuff like that, I don't I think this might

(07:15):
be one of the first dance or break dancing or freestyle
dancing anime we've gotten that I can remember.
So but I'm very like, I'm very excited just because of the the
context of the show not having dancing anime and Bad House at
the helm. Miles, what are your thoughts on
Juan Dance? Yeah, I have like, OK, this is

(07:38):
like incorrect, right? But like, for whatever reason,
looking at the characters and everything, the the first thing
that comes to mind for me is idly pride.
What a poll. Yeah, the characters I think
like have like a similar like Sheen to them.
And then also there's that dancing scene from Idly Pride

(08:00):
which. Is I?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I didn't know that was from Idly
Pride, but as soon as you said that I'm like, I know exactly
what you're talking about. Which is very smooth, right?
It's a very good clip. Very good.
You know, when you were saying some of the dancing looks good,
some of it doesn't look good, I immediately thought to Blue
Giant, where some of the performances were other fucking

(08:21):
worldly and some of them were. It's kind of weird CG, you know,
but ultimately that was a reallygood film.
So I think, you know, if they take the moments of dance that
are impactful to the story competitions, some, you know,
someone seeing a new style or something for the first time and
then they have like practice moments.
So they just sort of phone the nose in you can even if some of

(08:43):
that looks good, are not as great, you can still hit as long
as like the story and everythingelse is is good.
You know, that's sort of my thought on that.
I wouldn't be too worried until we see big moments looking bad
is is my thought, because if youwant to make those things that
like go super hard, sometimes you got to cut corners in other

(09:03):
places. And it's a, it's about dancing,
you know, So I bet they're dancing a lot, especially since
you can't really manga plot thisthe same way that you can for
like a lot of different thing, 'cause like you can't dance in
them. Like you have to like fill in a
lot of gaps there for whoever's doing like the storyboarding for

(09:23):
this, which is like another partof the effort that I feel like,
you know, like you're saying, like there's a lot of effort
that's going to have to go into this and it, but it sounds like
they're willing to do it. So I'm excited to, to look at
it. I I like the way everyone looks,
very pretty and shiny but like in a fun way so.
And this could be completely wrong, I'm just basing off of

(09:45):
sort of what I saw in the PV. But it kind of reminds me of
something like if Dress Up Darling was about dancing
instead of cosplaying. Because like the girl, the girl
is like, you know, very attractive, very open and free
about like her dancing and stufflike that.
And this guy a little bit more, you know, in in himself, not

(10:05):
really expressing himself as much, but then maybe finding a
passion or a hobby where you fall in love with you're able to
express yourself some more sort of like that with my dress up
drawing and Gojo. So that would be great to see
something along those lines, maybe even just like a hint.
But if you focus on just like the dancing, I think this will
be a good time. This is something I wanted to

(10:26):
bring up because we look at these genres, right?
There's no like romance there, but like our synopsis makes me
think there is some sort of potential romance down the line.
You know, we know how these things go.
They're not probably not going to start dating, you know, until
episode 52. But you know, I'll be interested

(10:47):
to see what the balance of that is, given that it's like, can
they find love? And then but there's like not
even like subtext romance. It's like a theme or anything.
It's just like we're dating, right that.
That it feels a little off, but I guess that's the I'm looking
at the manga synopsis and it's the same.
So I'm guessing they just pulledit from the manga and maybe the

(11:08):
manga is a little bit ahead. And so I can kind of give you
like a little hint, hint like what's to come.
Is that also like, I guess it's important to note that like
maltags are like 95% accurate, like there's a real chance that
it's just missing it, like it's not real, so.
We'll find out when we yeah 'cause yeah, they they decide

(11:30):
yeah, I'm just. Excited to see sort of like how
that that goes, right? Like that potential hidden crush
type of dynamic. Yep. 100% this is my most this
is my most look forward to original property for next
season. I should say original property,
sorry like new property coming into this season.
What we got next, Miles? OK, yeah, we have our watashi wo

(11:56):
tabatai hito Tanashi. Or we've This monster wants to
eat me. I've come to eat you.
So softly utters the mermaid Shiori as she emerges from the
sea and takes high school girl Hinoko by the hand.
Hinoko lives alone in a town by the sea and possesses an
unusual, unusually delicious body that is irresistible to

(12:16):
nearby monsters. Kind of like Bella Swan to
ensure that she matures to the best condition, she already
seeks to protect Iniko. Also that someday she can devour
every piece of her. What will become of Iniko's
feelings as this looming, unjustdeath closes in on her?
So this is a drama. Girls love supernatural.

(12:36):
So it's a lot of things I like, and so I I picked those if you.
So I recently watched the executioner and her way of life,
which I enjoyed and that actually has like a relatively
similar vibe to this where thereare there's like a like a girls
love pair and one of them wants to kill the other one in in some

(13:01):
sort of way. This feels like it has maybe a
little bit more like actual horror to it, which I think
could be interesting. I know that people like the
manga fair amount, and so I'm sort of excited to see exactly
what it entails here. You know, this is one of those
things that that could go a lot of ways for me personally or

(13:21):
could be really cool or could cross some lines.
And I'd be like, you know, like I get it, But so it it'll be
interesting to see exactly how it works.
And I also like the nefarious view on mermaids, which is sort
of like a more old school approach to them.
What are your thoughts here, Pete?
Yeah, I watched the PV, the mainlike mermaid girl, it looks like

(13:43):
her 'cause she has like super long hair.
If you see it in like the the preview art, it looks like she
uses her hair as a weapon, whichis cool.
Like she can like she like, you know, like and just like stab
people. So that's what it looks like.
But I'll be honest with you, when I watch this PV, coming
into it, I was kind of expectingone thing and I got a something

(14:07):
else. It didn't seem as looming of a
threat type of vibe. Like there's like there's like a
side character Miko, who is likesuper bubbly and is I'm assuming
it's supposed to be like the opposite version of the main
character who is very stoic looking.
So I but like it didn't seem like a horror when I watched it.

(14:32):
It kind of seemed like maybe a Yuri with like a crazy love
interest and I I was under the impression that it was maybe a
little bit more of like Ikaru vibes for horror, Like maybe not
necessarily like killing and stuff like that, but there's
definitely like a lingering feeling when you're watching

(14:53):
Hikaru. I didn't get that from the PV.
Maybe we get it in the anime andjust the PV pick and chooses,
which happens a lot. But I guess to me, when I was
like looking for an initial impression on something that's
been described to me as a horror, I didn't get that.
I got more school vibes, like yeah.

(15:13):
Yeah, I'll be interested in, interesting to see it like as
well. You know, 'cause there are a few
ways you could go here. A lot of these things that do
sort of like a looming threat tend to have like switches that
they they put on and off. Yep, so it just depends if they
wanted to, if that exists, show it in the, in the PV or not,
which maybe they don't, you know, where things seem normal

(15:36):
and then there's a few uneasy things and then the other stuff
that you know. And maybe you don't want to
spoil that, but you it's always a risk either way, because like
you want people to know what you're supposed to be getting.
But I don't know, I think I'm definitely going to give it a
chance and we'll, we'll see whatit's like.
So it's something that, again, I, I could see it being awful or

(15:57):
very, very good it's. Just one of those things like I
know like 3 people who have readthe manga and they all said it
was like good to pretty good. So I'm expecting good to pretty
good for the anime. I guess it's just more of like
one of those things where cominginto it you thought one thing
and you got something different and I was like OK sure.
So it like put it down a notch for me in terms of my excitement

(16:22):
for the show. So like, if this airs with like,
other shows that I'm going to watch on like a Tuesday, it's
probably not going to be the first one I watch type of type
of thing. But we'll see.
Yeah, it's being done by like, Ithink a newer studio.
They did all Oh, you'll love this, Miles.
They did. Uri is my job.

(16:43):
Oh, oh, wait, OK, that's. They've only done looks like
they've only done Yuri content. They've done Yuri is my job, the
really really bad love to lie angle and then the they're doing
the Yuru Yuri spin offs. OK, they were, they were
secondary on Yuri is my job too,'cause that's pashione, OK, And

(17:06):
I know that because it looks exactly like new Higurashi,
which is also true, so. Maybe they're like the side team
and now they have a main studio type of thing.
Yeah, like they were, they were like supporting I think for it
and like the Oh yeah, OK, but look at OK, have you clicked on
the image, like the main image you looked at the other

(17:27):
pictures. Yes.
Oh yeah, Look at that one. See, that's the vibe I was
expecting. That's.
What you're looking for, right? And I and like you get you get
hints of it, I guess, but it it seemed like it was more of like
a like an afterthought more thanlike the the focus.
So we'll see. I mean, it's definitely has
horror elements and like, obviously.

(17:50):
So yeah, 'cause all honestly, all of these alternative.
Way. Cooler pictures besides the one
they picked are kind of nefarious.
Yes, even the one that's like super bubbly is like kind of
like. Which, But look at her right.
Yeah. Yeah.
She's horrified. There's blood.
Yeah, on the yeah, OK, what? It'll be interesting to see.

(18:14):
I wonder if they're intentionally like forward
facing odd stuff but I don't getmy hopes up because I love that
shit so. For sure.
All right, That is the monster. Oh, no, go.
Sorry. No, no, you.
I. Was going to say, what do we got
next? What do we got next?
We got. Yeah.
We got Disney Twisted Wonderland.
We finally are getting a episodic version of Twisted

(18:37):
Wonderland. If I had to put it into terms
for anime fans and what it is inour realm, this is the girl
version of Uma Musume. So when I was in Japan the last
time I went at Animate, all of the Twisted Wonderland merch was
next to the BL stuff. Like they know their target

(18:58):
market for Twisted Wonderland, but sort of like the idea of
what Twisted Wonderland is that the villains slash main
characters of the show are like the counterpart of Disney
villains. So like there will be a
character in the show who is like the personification of
Jafar from Aladdin, like stuff like that.

(19:19):
So it'll be interesting to see how they play this out in an 8
episode series, but I'll give you the synopsis real quick.
You as an average Japanese high school student preparing for an
upcoming kendo tournament. On the night before the
competition, however, a black carriage crashes into him.
When he regains consciousness, You finds himself at the Night
Raven College, a premier academic institution in the

(19:42):
magical world of Twisted Wonderland.
Only a few chosen only a chosen few with exceptional magical
talent are admitted into the school, so it's a mystery how a
human with no magic ability has ended up there.
Although You desires to return home, it's easier said than
done. While the school's headmaster
searches for a way to send them back, You as assigned manual

(20:03):
labor on the campus, but due to the chaos at the school's
entrance ceremony following his arrival, you have a target
painted on his back. As far as the dorm leader Riddle
Rosehearts is concerned, I must skip the rest of it.
But sort of what I got from it is it seemed like welcome to

(20:23):
demon school Earmakun. If anyone out there has seen
that, like that vibe where the normal dude gets transported
into like a school setting and is like not supposed to be
there. I don't think it's going to be
super funny and during the PV didn't show off like a a whole

(20:43):
lot, but I think there's a chance that this is a male idol
show just based off of how they were acting and the songs that
they were using were all like really like J Pop Idol songs for
dudes. And so it was really odd.
But since I'm a big fan of like ear Makoon and I like the idea

(21:05):
of like these characters being personified as Disney villains,
it has like oh, a higher appeal to what I think that this show
can be. I will also say the art style,
such a cool art style in the PV.They do a mix where like the
characters look anime, but like the background in one of the
shots was like super Disney likeand I thought that I thought

(21:28):
that was cool how they like, even if you don't know what this
property is, the art looks like Disney so much that you'd be
like, oh, this is a Disney property or something along
those lines. So I just thought how they
handled the art style in the PV was fantastic.
And I'm really looking forward to like kind of diving into the
production stuff of this show. Miles, you have never heard of

(21:49):
this show until right now. What are your thoughts on
Twisted Wonderland? Yeah, I'm really happy for the
people who would like this. For sure.
Because like, like I, I, I kind of wish there was this exact
thing, but like more geared towards me because it seems
really cool. And by that I mean I kind of

(22:10):
wish it was just like all women, but like.
We have that. It's called Uma Musa reviles.
Those are fucking horses dude. They're not villains.
Some of the horses are villains.Whatever.
I mean, looking through this is like, pretty cool.
It's like figuring out who is like who.
Like this is Scar Leona King Scholar.

(22:34):
You know, there's a Doctor Fasalier very clearly there's a
Cruella de Ville. I wonder if they're going to
have him murder puppies. You know, that's, that's that
was her thing, you know, So it'll be, I mean, they he yeah.

(22:54):
There's a dog collar there. They all have very interesting
nicknames if you click on the character names.
I'm not sure if you've noticed this, but like Ace trapola is
Ace crab Monsieur Heart potato #1 Trapola.
Pretty curious about what the fuck that is one of my favorite.

(23:16):
I don't even know if it's a trope but like things anime does
is like secret idol shows because there's like a few
things that were like secretly an idol show.
Like Zombieland Soccer comes to mind, where there was no hint
that that was an idol show untilit.
Ended none. And people were like speculating
what it was. And then they were like, holy
shit, it's an idol show. And.

(23:39):
Did people not know it was an idol show and Zombieland talking
about? I don't think any of the.
I think it was like secret. That was it.
It was an idol show. I think so.
I thought, oh man, someone's got.
Until episode 1 aired, yeah. Oh, they they Turkey did I?
I always, I was always in the assumption that I knew it was an
idol show. Look.
OK, let me tell you what I am basing this off of.

(24:01):
At the time I went I hadn't watched the episode.
I went to the Reddit thread and everyone was very surprised.
It's an idol show. I'm not saying you're wrong, I
just, yeah. Yeah, I could be wrong.
And maybe a bunch of people justdidn't watch anything, you know,
I don't know, but that was my impression.
But they could have turkeyed it.They could.

(24:22):
They turkeyed it before Turkey, Turkey did.
Yeah, but like stuff like that Ithink is fun.
And like a big thing about Disney villains is having like
villain songs and singing and like that's like a large part of
Disney. So true.
Hopefully they do that. It really seems it seems like it
it'll be fun. I don't think I'm going to watch
it, mostly because is there a gotcha game with this?

(24:47):
You know what, I don't know, butI'm a betting man and if I were
to bet on this, I would say yes.OK, it's just there's so many
characters like I don't, I don'teven know what else it would
come from. It's a manga.
OK, it's a manga. Oh, based on the rhythm game.
Oh, OK. So yeah.
OK, it's going to be an idol show.
OK, sick. This this is Bang Dream.

(25:10):
I was. It was Bang Dream the whole
time. It was, yeah, it was the
incredibly different than UMA. Muslim.
And yeah, I guess they're probably not playing
instruments. Maybe they will, but I don't
know. I think this looks fun.
And honestly looking, if you like Disney villains and stuff
like looking through all of thisfeels like it would be like a

(25:32):
good time for you because it just just noticing references
and stuff is is kind of fun. Gaston for best boy.
Yeah, for sure. I was saying if you're on the
fence for this one or if you've never heard of it, check out the
PV because I was one of these. I wasn't planning on watching
this at all until I watched the PV and that kind of changed a

(25:52):
lot for me. I thought it was a really good
PV so I'll be checking out. It's only 8 episodes too so and
it's a slow season. I'll check it out for sure.
We got next miles. Yeah, we got awkward senpai
your. Favorite.
Things I love. Sorry, I'm ill, Kanala senpai is
considered. Oh at least I have an easy read

(26:14):
here. Kanala senpai is considered many
things, but smooth is definitelynot one of them.
Then she meets Kamigawa, her newkohai.
He's a cute little nerdy and easy to talk to.
How will this awkward senpai be able to handle these new
feelings? So this is a workplace comedy
romance. You getting your what?

(26:34):
A koi? Oh, you're getting?
Hold on. Oh yeah, I.
Might even prefer erotical. Yeah, let's go.
Oh, it's clumsy. That's neat.
The word in Japanese means clumsy.
I wonder if it's socially awkward.
Or they can. They're used interchangeably.

(26:55):
Who cares? She seems she.
Seems like this. He's like, he's like.
In the PvP she's like oh OK. Oh, she's like, oh, I'm so
embarrassed. OK, so there's there's a couple
of fun things about this that I I can see.
One I like that the kohai is is the guy That's neat.
Look at them throwing a wrench in the formula.

(27:16):
Whoa, obviously somebody here didn't watch my tiny senpai.
I sure didn't two, this has AB couple if you know anything
about me. So I love me AB couple so I'm
excited for them to be better than the main couple.

(27:38):
Can I tell you my biggest complaint about this?
Yeah. Every character in this series
has two toned hair and I ate it.It looks so dumb that for some
reason they have to put green. It's terrible.
His hair is like brown and blonde.

(27:58):
Her hair looks really good. Hers hers looks great but his is
like brown and blonde but his 2 tone for like the backside of
his hair. Is like green green, yeah.
It's so ugly. The entire time I was like this
dude's art like design is terrible.
What is everybody that show that2 tone hair?

(28:19):
Even the OK so I'm going to be like guilty as charged right
here. Like I love the 2 tone hair
look. I'm like thinking of any
character that has like, I don'tknow, black long hair and then
like a blue on the inside or something.
Agreed. I think do it yourself did that
a fair amount. Like they had like I just like

(28:41):
that design choice with like thethe inside being like an
unnatural color and like the outside being like a normal hair
color. But like what's so weird about
this is that every character except for the main girl has
like barely any hair that is visible.
It's but they make it a different It's like it's so

(29:03):
strange. It's it looks like he has green
mutton chops. Or something.
It's just like, yeah. Because it's not like there's
just not enough hair there that you should be doing anything
with it. I feel like it's it's a weird
choice. She looks very good.
She looks great but they also give her like highlights and
stuff. She looks like an Oshino Co.

(29:24):
Character. It's it it She does look like
Aqua if it if Aqua was a girl orsomething.
Yeah, otherwise known as Ruby but with blue highlights.
You are you are correct about that.
It's the Aqua highlighting on the covers.
But she does have like the pink and internal color like like
Ruby does and she wants to. Say it.

(29:47):
Fuck her brother. I thought we were talking about
Awkward Sepai, not Oshi no Co. Yeah, I mean, I was.
I was sorry. I was bossing.
I stopped myself. I.
Was like what the fuck? Oh, little confusion.
You were ready for that. Caught me off guard.
Alkali I'm. I'm I'm constantly in search for

(30:08):
the work play place, romance that I I like and maybe maybe
this will be. It it's not.
There's got to be. One, I'll keep a I'll keep it AB
with you. This I did.
I watched the PV. I'm like, this is a six like
straight up like if you like workplace romances, if adult

(30:29):
cast romances, this ain't, I'm assuming it's not going to like
do anything for you, but it ain't going to be the worst
thing every now and then. I just like, you know, like I
like going to bed watching like a chill show, like something I
don't have to think about something I don't have to like I
got I got on discord right now and talk about how hype episode
4 was. I don't need that when I'm going

(30:51):
to sleep, that's what. Sokuka of Awkward Senpai episode
4 was fucking fired. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me
to think I talk about most is how I hate the main characters
green 2 toned hair. It really it's not a great
choice. And like, I don't know, like
it's one of those things where it's like animation doesn't, I

(31:12):
don't really care about animation unless it's like the
point of the show. But for some reason like this,
I'm just like, it pisses me off.Like this hair is so bad.
Fix your hair. Maybe he gets a haircut.
That'd be sick, but. Oh my God, yeah, that'll be
good. Haircut arc, Yeah.
This ain't moving anything. I'll be, I'll be OK.
I like the bullshit sometimes and try to say something is that

(31:34):
it's not. This ain't it.
Was this the one that you watched the PV and were like I
I'm going to hate this or was that a different one?
That was a different one. That was there's like a visual
novel harem that's coming out this season that was like like
I'm, I don't know, stuff like summer pockets or whatever

(31:54):
that's like airing this season. Just like like that ain't my
style of of shows for me, But this one's just like, I mean,
I'm most super to be exactly like my my tiny senpai.
My senpai is annoying. What else is there?
The Ice Guy show, like it's going to be a six or seven
workplace romance, and that's cool with me.

(32:16):
Sometimes there are sixes and sevens that I just I I really
fuck with is wait, is Oh my God,what's the show with the the the
evil? Is that it?
Yes. That's called the evil
Lieutenant. No, no, no, no, no, no.
Similar premises but with Power Rangers.

(32:38):
Oh, world domination. Whatever.
It's called finding love during. Is that a workplace romance?
I would say technically yes. That's my favorite workplace.
It's. A good one.
It's a very good one. That or Yuri is my job.
Is that what? You're talking about when you
had 7 bangers. You brought Yuri as my job.

(33:00):
Yeah, I dude, I wish you guys gave that A7.
Did you give? It A7.
I give it a nine. Oh my bad.
OK, check out our review of. Yuri is my job.
Yeah, it's the hardest I've worked on.
Anything OK, paint. That says a lot.
OK, tell me about Santa Claus. Yeah, let's talk about Sonda,

(33:24):
which is done by the manga of B Stars.
The story starts with Sonda, a second year middle school
student, getting attacked with akitchen knife by his classmate
UU Mira. While Sanda couldn't make the
couldn't make sense of the situation at first, he gradually
came to believe that you who youyou.

(33:45):
Oh my God, dude, what's going? On who you Mura?
Mura, Yeah. We're just mean acts of stemming
or stemming off of the ladder ofhaving a particular puberty.
Wow. But that was actually a
misunderstanding. Fuyu Mira.
Oh my God dude. It's seriously questioning if

(34:05):
Sanda is actually the descendantof a certain family.
So couple things with this main character or one of the main
characters is Santa Claus. That's awesome.
I think that's super fun. I watch the PV by this done by
Science Saru who is an incredible studio.

(34:25):
Doing Dawn to Dawn right now andthe PV blew me away.
Absolutely stunning. It looks incredible.
It looks exactly what you would expect from a Science Saroo
show. It remind me a little bit of
Golden Kamui where it looks likethe overall premise might have
like an actual storyline, but it's filled the gaps in with

(34:45):
something funny, hence the SantaClaus character.
It looks action-packed. It looks pretty damn fun.
I was very very pleased by what I saw from Sanda Miles.
Your thoughts on Santa anime? OK, so I wasn't very excited
about this because honestly I think it seems sort of stupid,

(35:07):
but science SARU is doing it, soI'm gonna have to watch it.
What is this about? I don't know.
OK. All I know is Santa's involved
and it reminds me of Golden Kamoi and that's a win.
Like that's all I need. It could be completely
different, but based off of the PV and what I just read, those
are my takeaways from it. Yeah, I'm going to give it a go,

(35:28):
mostly out of curiosity. I I think it seems stupid, but
lots of things that seem stupid are good, I guess.
Like if you start. Let's say like golden Comboy,
it's like, if you kind of describe like what happens in
golden Comboy, I think a lot of people be like, that's dumb and
it works. For there's like a yeah, some
parts of it, right? But like you, you could be like
what's golden comboy about? And you could be like, it's a
historical drama where you know, like an ex soldier meets like a

(35:53):
indigenous woman and they go on adventures together and like
yeah, someone fucks a bear or whatever that 1 scene is but
like. Manga only.
OK. Well, I mean, it could be next
season. In the end of the week we'll
find out. It's the end of the manga, so
we'll find. Out.
It's all I know about. We'll find out from the OVA of
the bear fucking scene at Golden.
Yeah, but like I I guess like what I don't know is like, OK,

(36:16):
so like during the high jinks ofgolden Kamui right there is this
like over lying general concept we are aware of and I don't know
what it is for this. Like you don't.
Oh, I like. What what what do they do in
between Santa showing us? Sure.
Does he transform into Santa? I don't think so.

(36:38):
I like I know I don't see Santa on the character list.
Maybe it is on the mod? That's what I'm saying.
So OK, 'cause like the guy's name is Sanda, but that also
just means 3. But like, it is like it's called
Sanda. I feel like that's supposed to
be similar to Santa. I I would I would agree with
that. OK and then OK also if we click

(37:00):
on the picture we will see that the blonde kid has like a with
Santa and then him I I think it might be like a Shazam type of.
Scenario. Oh shit, he Shazam's at the
Santa Claus. I think I think that might be
what we're getting. This sounds great.
OK I wish the picture that they had used was the the first one

(37:24):
where it's like the fucking sicklike Santa.
Santa walk in. Yeah, like aura farming Santa.
Barefoot in the snow. Oh, you and.
And if you see that picture in his shadow, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He shazam's into. Santa, look at this detective
work that we're doing mid episode.
OK, so this is actually Shazam Golden Comrie.

(37:44):
We got there OK. Let's go.
Let's watch it, Yeah? It's like, is this just like
finding yourself and finding whoyou are and it turns out who you
are is Santa Claus, Santa Claus, which would be pretty funny.
But like I love B stars. So if it's anything, the art
looks a lot like B stars, but the PV looks really, really

(38:05):
good. Like really good.
I think it's what surprised me is some of the people who worked
on Dawn to Dawn are working on this one.
Like it stood out that much. This was like one of three PVS
that blew me away. Yeah, it, it looks I am now more
hyped for this as we have talkedabout it, as we have looked more

(38:26):
into it. I'm I'm excited to take a oh,
whoa. We have an upcoming Ghost in the
Shell by Science Saru. Yes, Holy shit.
OK, well catch me on the Winter 2026 preview or spring or
whatever, being excited for that.
I'm on board. I'm on board.

(38:49):
All right. So that's Sanda.
Might as well, we got next. Yeah, we have dusk beyond the
end of the world, and we have after waking from a long
cryogenic sleep. Sorry.
Here's. What Miles needs right now.
Oh my God, I need Nyquil. High School student Akira
Himigami finds himself in a world he no longer recognizes.

(39:10):
The city lies in ruins from war, society is now governed by an
organization called AL, and traditional marriage has been
replaced by a new system known as Elsie.
As Akira struggles to comprehendthe dramatically changed future,
a familiar figure appears beforehim, Euguerte, who bears a
strong resemblance to his girlfriend Toasa.

(39:31):
To his shock, Eugiri smiles gently proposes Akira.
Please marry me. Confused by her sudden proposal,
he agrees to travel with you, Gary, holding on to hope that
somewhere in the world, the realToasa is still alive.
Along their journey, they encounter evolving forms of love
in this new era and reflect on what their bond truly means.
I'm going to be perfectly honest, I liked the character

(39:52):
design in this and I liked the PV art and that's it.
We always said it's kind of a shallow system, so we got our
little post apocalyptic romance sci-fi type of thing.
I've no idea if this will be good or not.
I have literally no idea. It could be.
It could also suck because like I think a lot of it depends on

(40:12):
this dynamic between these two characters.
There's a third character too, like it's mixed.
Yeah, there, there's another one, but I imagine it's like
there's, there's 4 main characters according to Mal, you
know, but we'll have to see whatwhat happens here.
I don't know. Are you any interested in this

(40:32):
at all? So my, my biggest concern with
this is it's PA works and it's doing an original.
So you got 2 flips of a coin lands on heads and it's going to
be the best it's going to be is probably like an 8 or not.
But like the other side of the coin is like it's probably going
to be pretty bad. They did.

(40:55):
They've done decent to good originals like Buddy Daddies,
but I feel like most of the timethat PA works on their originals
are pretty bad. They did the cheerleading one
last year. But keep a made war.
Made war's good, but then they did like Apari Ronman, which
was. Boy Kong Ming.
That's not an original. It's not.

(41:17):
Nope. What?
Yep, it has a manga Aqua Tope, which I thought was like
whatever, Fairy Gone, which was fucking terrible, but then they
did stuff like I think they did Shiribako, which is pretty damn
solid. So it but it's like it's one of
those things where it's like I've I don't like PA works
originals like Charlotte. I just don't really like PA work

(41:40):
original. Like yeah, they have two
hitters, but like they have 14 misses, I feel like.
So they. OK, so they, they have things
that people in our audience might consider hits that we
don't consider hits. Angel beats, people like that,
Charlotte, people like that. Those shows are bad, though.

(42:02):
Yeah. I guess I'm speaking purely off
of me not liking PA work originals, it's just.
Yeah, I I feel you. I have no issues when they take
original source materials. I mean they did great and skip
it. Loafer, you mentioned Kong Ming,
they did great with Kong Ming, but it's just one of those
studios where I don't know, I feel like like I know Pat hypes

(42:24):
up PA works a lot. I think they're like AC tier
studio, like I really don't think that they have.
Oh they did skip and loafer. I know that's a manga but they
did a great job like adapting. That, yeah, no, for sure.
Maybe they're they're one of those adapting.
I don't know. I I really liked made war like I
thought that was a good original.
What's interesting is like, do these are these all like in

(42:45):
house rider? Because like I know there's like
one guy who does like Charlotte and Angel beats and like that
other one, Kami Samani, not thathe right, the one that made him
quit writing. But you know, I don't know, I'd
have to research that. It's just like a a point of like

(43:07):
industry knowledge that I don't know.
Like do people write for multiple studios if they're
writing anime originals? Are there mostly like in house
people? The examples I can think of off
the head of my off the top of myhead are like in house people.
And actually, there's a really easy way for me to figure this
out is to go to this, click the writer, the director series,

(43:29):
composition, Stanley with staff, and then see what else they've
done. Yeah, this director, he's chief
director of Jojo's Part 5, whichlooks like to be his biggest
property. It looks like he was the
director of Jojo's Part 4 as well, but he's done a lot of.

(43:54):
Storyboarding. Yeah, a lot of just like
miscellaneous, yeah. So it kind of looks like maybe
this is his first solo project. Hopefully it'll be good, but
we'll have to take a, you know, we'll see.
Yeah, it's just it based off what I saw from the PV like this
will they won't they move on from his girlfriend and marry
the hot Android type of thing? I don't know.

(44:17):
It's his girlfriend. No, the one of the girls is like
an Android. Well.
OK, some girl wakes him up and looks exactly like his
girlfriend. Yeah, that's an Android.
It's actually his girlfriend. Like I'm spoiling the show for
you. I when I watched the PV it
seemed like she wasn't his actual girlfriend.
Yeah, and that's what the plot twist is, Pete.

(44:38):
The plot twist is that it was his girlfriend the entire time.
Oh, I see what you're saying. If that's the case, I'm a treat.
If that's not the case. That is completely a shot of the
dark. It's like I have three sentences
and I'm like what would I write if?
Here's what I'll do. I'll wait for episode 12 to drop

(45:00):
and if our discord's like holy shit episode 12, holy shit
episode 12, I'll go watch it. But until then, this one's not
for me. A.
Hot Android's design is pretty good I.
Dude, her boots, her boots. Sick.
I love the. Hat, the hat.
The hat's good, but I'm a big fan of boots that like, go up to

(45:23):
your thigh. I think it looks foolish.
Good. Guilty as.
Josh yes, Sir. We played around here, baby.
But yeah, I mean, I I don't really, I didn't get anything
from the PV. Like I didn't really understand
like the concept. It also reminds me a lot of one
of the worst animes I've ever seen, which is that Isakai, the

(45:46):
Ragnarok Isakai were like, OK, his he's trapped in another
world, but he still has a girlfriend in his world that he
can communicate via cell phone. But at the same time he has a
harem and he chooses to. And he's like, by the way, the
main character is like 13 at thetime or something like that.
And he's like, I'm staying pure to my girlfriend.

(46:06):
It's like, you know bro, you guys are breaking up as soon as
you get back from the fake world.
He also owned slaves. Did he?
I thought maybe I'm thinking of the show that's the same as that
show. Bless her of Eidhar and master
of Ragnarok is what the show. Yeah, but like it's very similar
to in another world as my smartphone from like a right

(46:29):
because he has his phone and that and he can use.
It he's in another world with it.
Yes, and he uses it like it's like he looks up like battle
tactics, No. That's that's master of Einhard,
master right now that's. What I'm saying, Yeah.
And I don't think the. Smartphone does that.
What does he do with a smartphone?

(46:50):
And I haven't seen that in in the other world.
What does he do with a smartphone?
OK, anyways, either one of thosetwo people buys slaves.
OK, sounds good. It's probably both.
For being, for being. Real.
Yeah, it's it's an easy guy. OK, You you got this.

(47:11):
Oh, I do. Next one, yeah, that's you,
right? This one I'm looking forward to
so much it's called. May I ask you for one final
thing? In the middle of a ball,
Scarlett's fiance, Kyle Boo Kylesuddenly calls off their
engagement. She forcefully accuses of being
a bully and people unfairly callher a villainess.
The aristocrats and noble families all denounce her.

(47:33):
For years, she's had to put up with abuse and idiocy, but she
can't take any of it anymore. At her wit's end, she asked for
one last favor, to give them alla good fist in their faith.
So begins Scarlett's story of revenge against Kyle and his
cronies, a fancy about elegant yet rebellious fighter who
doesn't let anyone take advantage of her.

(47:55):
So I've been looking just like, yeah, you've been looking for
like the ultimate workplace romance.
I've been looking for the ultimate villainous show.
Every villainous show I watch, I'm like pretty underwhelmed by
they're really not villainesses. And I think like the highest

(48:18):
I've ever given one. It's like an 8.
I watch the TV for this and I thought it was the Creme de la
Creme of any villainous show I've ever seen.
Like it was so funny where the entire premise is her getting
revenge by punching people in the face.

(48:38):
I think like the the tagline forthe PV said like she only wants
to clobber was like the tagline.I was like hell yeah girl you go
punch people in the face. And it was just satisfying
watching evil people get punchedin the face by this chick.
I loved it. I think this is probably going

(48:59):
to be the highest rated villainous show I've ever
watched and I'll make a claimantright now.
I think this has a chance of being anime of the season.
I think the enjoyment factor of this show has the possibility of
being off the charts. I love watching bad people get
punched in the face and if that's all that is, guess what
the minimum of this show is? Is a 10 minimum miles.

(49:22):
Your thoughts on May I ask you for one final thing?
So I'm, I'm excited for this too.
It looks fun. Can I can I bring down your hype
by giving an historic example? God, you're going to make hold
on. So you're going to say something
completely logical and it makes sense.
And I'll be like, you know what,Miles?
Once again, you're right. So I'm going to say no, OK, I'm

(49:43):
kidding. Go for it.
So we're thinking about a show where someone gets revenge on
shitty people by physically harming them in a very fun and
funny way, and you're like the lowest that show could possibly
be is a tan. Are they a villainous in the
show that you're talking about? What did you give Kino Michi?

(50:07):
A6. And you know what?
That show is about him suplexingthat.
Yeah. But it's a dude.
It's different when it's a hot girl punching people in the
face. I'm sorry, I don't make the
rules. That's way cooler.
OK. The suplex scene made me die.
It's hilarious, don't get me wrong.
It's very, I'll say is if you watch the TV, you'll be like, I

(50:29):
get it. Look, I'm hoping you're right.
I can see a world where you're right.
We haven't been wrong. PV.
The Nokaton PV. OK, I have been wrong once I'm
having this realization, do I actually miss?

(50:51):
Wait a minute, fuck, it's that'show bad Nokaton is.
Pete has to be like shit, I didn't miss.
I was wrong about something. That's crazy.
I can't even pretend to be rightabout this one.
Yeah, but like, I don't know. I think it looks fun and I hope
it's good. I watched the preview 'cause you
told me about it. I I know the bit is that I
don't, but I, I did and I, I kind of hope she punches them

(51:13):
all. It kind of reminds me of Rosa
Versailles in the way that they kill rich people, OK?
But in this? She's she's punching them in the
face, which is justice. Oh yeah, the Side Story.
She's actually leading the French Revolution, so.
I can only. And it's a Yuri.
Oh my God, let's go. Oh.

(51:34):
My God, I'll have to get her up here with my Rosalie.
Like that's. Oh that's interesting.
Will wait. There's a character named
Rosalia. Oh my God.
I wonder if she gets punched in the face.
It's. Too nice.
I think anybody is on the table based off what I saw from the
PVI think do you think? She's going to have a romance.

(51:56):
Who do you think her love interest?
Is I hope it's a girl, I hope it's a Yuri.
It's not, but I hope. Me too, man.
I want to just exclusively punchrich male nobles and then steal
their girl. How sick would that?
Like I'm, I'm super about OK, wait, no, OK, here, here you see

(52:19):
it. I'm seeing that.
In the background you see the Prince guy who like broke off
the E is like this horrible smirk on Kyle.
Piece of shit. Yeah, OK.
His name is Kyle. Kyle.
Oh my God. If you're out there, you know
Kyle, just know this is directeddirectly at you.
I want to give a shout out to mybrother-in-law, Kyle.
He's a great guy. But just for the bit, Kyle, I'm

(52:43):
sorry you're getting punched in the face.
Kyle would put me in the dirt anyways.
He has the the pink haired girl on his arm.
Yep. Pink haired girls.
She loves evil. Yeah.
But what? If that's nothing of fist to the

(53:03):
face, yeah. Exactly like what?
What if you get punched and changes your ways?
What if, What if America really needs is just a punch in the
face? Oh my God.
OK, yeah, OK. I'll watch all 12 episodes.
Hell yeah, let's go. Yeah, let's.

(53:23):
Go all. Right.
What are we doing next? OK touring after the apoc.
Oh thank God I'm getting all theone sentencers I can load.
Up the synopsis for you. I know I'm stuttering this
episode but no, I I. Got it.
It's OK. We're we're fine.
I can do this one sentence, Pete.
Oh, I lied. It's two sentences.
All in. After the end of days, 2 girls

(53:44):
bike through the empty ruins of Japan.
And they're not about to let thecollapse of civilization get in
the way of sightseeing. Even when the world ends, their
journey goes on. So like this looks like I was
slightly more grounded. Girls last tour.
I liked girls last tour and I like apocalyptic Yoshiki.

(54:05):
Shout out to Yokohama shopping trip and girls last tour and
probably some other ones I'm forgetting but I'll I'll watch
this. I I'm not known for liking my
slice of life, but man, you throw an apocalypse in there and
all of a sudden I'm about it. What do you think of Pete the
Vibe preview? Yeah, the vibe I got from it, it
seems like it's going to be a show where like 10 episodes are

(54:28):
like really fun and bubbly, but they'll be like 2 mixed in like.
Like episode 7 makes us all cry.Yeah, right.
Like that's kind of the vibe I got from it, where it's like
we're going fishing. Episode 1, Episode 2, here's how
everybody died. It's like, oh, OK, all right,
this is where we're going. And then episode 3, we're having

(54:49):
a picnic. Like that's kind of the vibe I
got from it. So right up my alley.
I will, of course, will be watching this.
This looks great. OK, but it's it's hard.
It's it's like the PV was just them riding on a motorcycle
doing shit. And the synopsis was short.
Not a whole lot to say about it because I don't know a lot.
About it I I like OK euro camp but everyone else is dead.

(55:16):
Oh, where were the girls by their like, you don't need to
buy steak. Because they'll they'll get it
from a freezer. You're making good points.
Yeah, I mean technic like that wouldn't actually work, but it's
it's an anime so maybe it would but look they're fishing here
right they can get like you know, they could kill this

(55:37):
capybara that's in the bottom left picture and.
You can't kill Capybara's. Were you crazy?
Where are they in Japan that there's just a fucking wild
cabbie bar? Maybe they're in like a way, no
zoo or something. They escaped.
They're stargazing in the top right photo.
They're camping in the middle right photo.

(55:57):
Peak. Yeah, this feels like you'll
give it an 8. Yes, that's exactly kind of the
vibe I was getting from man. Looks cool, looks fun, the PV
same thing, but not a whole lot to say other than that you got

(56:17):
anything else? OK, Pete, tell me what's
brighter than the sun. I'll.
Tell you what's brighter than the sun?
A star, which is also the sun. But this one is a star that's
brighter than the sun, say. And Cokie, as I say his name,
have been friends since childhood. 1 fateful day at the
end of middle school, she has a revelation.

(56:38):
Cokie has grown up. Now they're in high school and
she has another revelation. He has feelings for Cokie but
say isn't the only girl who does.
The question is who does Cokie have feelings for?
So not a whole lot to base it off though.
First thing I'll say is this is done by the manga who did my
love story which is a very sweet, very bubbly ROM com.

(57:01):
The vibes I got from this is this is a very sweet and very
bubbly ROM com. I don't think this is going to
be a heavy hitting of any sort. I think this is going to be fun
and relaxing. Like pretty, I would say like
generic ROM com style. However, I love my love story.
So I think that what we got fromlike the PV, which was pretty

(57:24):
mediocre and sort of that synopsis, I think it's going to
be better than what we have presented, just going off of the
the blind trust of the manga. I also know a few people who
have read the manga and really liked it.
So I hope we don't have like a acondition called love situation
because the production like the characters, they don't look the

(57:49):
best the. Animation.
I want to make this. I want to make this clear.
What's that? The the guy looks like a serial
killer. A little bit.
He's not. He's not supposed to.
He's supposed to look like Shimafrom.
Skipping over, yeah. He looks like Ted Bundy.

(58:10):
A little bit, yeah. Yeah, he does.
I don't think it's going that route, but I have.
It won't as. We found out this episode.
I have been wrong before SO. It's the new.
Revelation, new revelation. I literally just found this out
like 10 minutes ago. But I'm going out for the blind.
Trust that it's my love stories.Monica.

(58:31):
They know how to write a good ROM com.
I'm really hoping that this is, you know, passable at at least
the seven is my hope for this, but we shall wait and see.
Miles, I know you have no intention of watching this, but
what's your thoughts on it? You know what's really neat
about it? The word for bright in this is
like a word for dazzling and like shining that is used for

(58:52):
celestial bodies specifically inJapanese.
So that's fun nerd. I well, I just looked it up
because I didn't know it and I knew all the other.
You do it off the top of your head.
That would be crazy. No, I knew the other ones
though, and that's why I looked that one up, because I knew all
the other words, but because I and I knew it wasn't bright
because I know that word. So I was like, what does this

(59:13):
mean? Anyways, I'm going to I maybe
I'll like this. Come on.
Come on, Bob. No.
I'm going to be, I'm going to beserious here for a second, OK?
Be serious for the first time inyour life.

(59:33):
OK, I man, I can't do it. Little side note, there's a
podcast I listen to and one of the hosts just lies 100%.
Everything he says is inauthentic and it's it's
hilarious. It's the funniest thing, but it
always fools some of the hosts. They're always like, Oh my God,

(59:55):
really? And then like the other one is
just like, no, no, why are you? He never tells the truth.
And sometimes I feel like that. I just feel like I've never told
the truth but. What?
OK, one, we potentially have a love triangle here, OK?
True, the PV definitely set it up for one.
Yes, also this whole thing says that.

(01:00:19):
It does 2 that as well, yeah. Yeah.
It turns out the hot guy at highschool has multiple love
interests. Two this so like he looks like a
serial killer, but she looks like the sweetest little thing,
right? Like she just looks great.
I will say though, for my love story, the main character looks
like an actual gorilla and that turned out fantastic.

(01:00:41):
So maybe the serial killer look, maybe they're on the side.
I think it's just the way that the portrait thing is drawn,
like he, he's like his head, his, his face.
His proportion. Facing a different way than his
head is facing it's. Bizarre, yes.
It's not like, yeah, his head's not like feeling good, but it.
She is she, Yeah. She is looking at him through

(01:01:03):
the side of her head, and he is staring into the void.
Yes, it's like he's like lookingat a rat on the ground or
something. Yeah, yeah, like he he sees
nothing but his next victim. I haven't seen him in motion
yet. I think it's just a bad poster,
but like, I don't know, there are ROM coms and stuff.
I like look, if we if we get like one of these other

(01:01:28):
characters and they're like kindof like a mean girl and and
that's like the rivaling love interest.
And then like, maybe this nerdy girl here gets with this guy who
looks like he's like, too rich to go to school.
And get some sort of like. Yeah, right.
Like he just looks like an awfulhuman.

(01:01:48):
You. Know who the villain of the
punch is? This guy.
That this guy? Yeah.
He could be the nicest guy in the world.
But we have. No idea.
It's yet it's the haircut. He's gotta get punched.
Yeah, like his, his name would be like something the third, if
he was in he was like English. It would be, you know, some
like, you know, maybe we'll get some spice in here.

(01:02:08):
I don't, I don't know what it is.
I can't explain it, but I I'm looking forward to this.
I I'm holding I'm holding you tothat.
I want I want your thoughts on Episode 1 of a star writer.
The we we have a first impressions episode and I'm
going to be talking about it. I don't know if you're going to
be on the episode, but I won't be talking about it.
So if you want to be on that episode, you better watch this

(01:02:29):
show. Yeah, I'll, I'll, I'll try to.
That's a threat I. Always love being on those
episodes. As you know, there was a day
where there was a time in my life where I could just watch a
bunch of anime, but now I got tobe picking and choosing you.
Hear that, kids? Let's.
Yeah, I don't. You get to pick.
You want true love in a family or watch anime.

(01:02:52):
The choice is yours. I do.
Get to watch anime still, just not as.
Not as much as you. Want Yeah, well you all get like
5 to 7 seasonals done a season. It's going to be more this year
though, because Watch Club has just been pounding this year's
seasonals. OK Shibake.
It is the Edo period. Ichitadu, the young master of

(01:03:16):
Nagasaki, one of the largest stores in Nihonbashi, has been
in poor health since birth and isn't able to go out.
Can't relate to that. However, Ichitaru is always
protected by demons such as Shirazawa in Inugami who served
him. One night, Ichitadu goes out
secretly and witnesses a murder. From that day on, bizarre

(01:03:37):
murders begin to occur one afteranother in Edo.
With the help of the demons, each other's search for the
culprit begins. I fuck with this.
We got like Edo period supernatural detective murderer
show. You know, you'll you'll have to
tell me if you watch this preview if that looks
interesting or anything. But like just conceptually, I

(01:04:00):
think this looks really neat. This is something that I'll
definitely be giving a watch andhoping that it's got like a good
hook and the mysteries are interesting and all of that.
Yeah, I'll say the last couple like historical mysteries that
I've watched regardless of fantasy or not.
Apothecary Diaries and Yata Grasu, 2 Absolute slappers.

(01:04:21):
I'm a big fan of this style of historical mysteries.
I guess just to put it in simpleterms, there's the other way to
put it. It was like last Yata Grasu, but
still has that fantasy element. Like in the PB picture you can
see like a like a baby phoenix type of character.
So like there is magic evolved and stuff like that, which I

(01:04:42):
think is cool because it can addlike an element to like, oh, the
guy was stabbed in the back in the courtyard.
It's like Nah, maybe he got disintegrated by the phoenix or
something like that. PV Look.
I would say Phoenix stabbed him.Oh, OK, that's.
A great list. And then the guy set somebody
else on fire to frame the Phoenix.
But yeah, they, they, they're trying to frame each other.

(01:05:03):
Who framed Phoenix Rabbit or something?
But PV looked I would say PV looked really good.
I remember the chat really liking the PV for this one.
I would say it's more on the like I I had like a like a
ranking of like one through 14 of shows that I was excited for
This fell in like 6, so pretty high up there.

(01:05:23):
Yeah, I liked what I saw. I just be intrigued with these
stylish shows. I want it to be like 2 core.
Like usually I I like the longerstyle of fleshing out the
mystery better with like how Apothecary did it and how Yata
Garasu did it. I would like to see them follow
the same type of suit. But yeah, this looks really
good. I'm a I'm really looking for

(01:05:45):
this. One yeah, I I'm excited about
this. We don't know how long it is yet
I guess, but this gives me oh God, what was that show that I
watched? Head lady head.
Oh, under girl murder fires. Yeah, this, this sort of seems a
little similar to that vein, butlike a more grounded historical

(01:06:06):
take on that where that was a little bit like the League of
Extraordinary Gentlemen or something like that.
And like this might be there like demons we can see in this.
There's the Phoenix and everything but it regardless,
it'll sort of have that creepy historical vibe to it.
And I love it. Yeah.
Look really good. I think this one's going to be a
sleeper. I think this one's going to be

(01:06:27):
really good. I hope so, fingers crossed.
I mean, it's done by Bandai, so it's got a got a chance.
Yeah, well, yeah, they're. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that
would, yeah. There's some really good stuff
in the last couple. They did Vistoria which was
better than I thought it would be.
They did Birdie Wing which is the greatest anime of all time.

(01:06:49):
Rock Ladies that I got. I loved rock ladies.
Yeah, it was really good. It was really fun.
Yeah, oh shit, they. Did Raven of the inner palace?
Oh shit. That's another one, by the way.
That's sort of. That that's yeah, yeah, that
one's more. This one looks like it has like
action and violence where Raven of the Inner Palace didn't have
that, but definitely the same like I guess like environmental

(01:07:13):
vibes is probably that's what. I'm like that that has some that
it's historical. It has like a mystery to it.
This, you're right, seems probably more like murder and
fighting demons a little bit. But again, it's the vibe is
there, right? Like the what else did they do?
They got some. Stuff, yeah, a lot of gotcha

(01:07:35):
game shows. Bandai Namco?
No way. They would never, never.
Should we move on please? My last show that I will be
talking about is a manga cuz weirdly wonderful workspace.
New shojo manga artist Nana. Wow that that's spot on.

(01:07:55):
Works hard every day while beingsupported by Kade Sato, her
female editor who is older than her, and Mizuki Hazima, her
assistant. According to the girl herself,
he sometimes drums up intense Daydream delusions of
occupational illness. A working girls comedy set in
the entertainment industry brought to you by an author who

(01:08:17):
is always who always draws various girl.
I wanted to bring this one that like stuck out to me.
It reminded me a lot of like newgames slash comic girls.
If anyone has seen those shows. I do like the workplace style of
showcasing like an actual industry.
This seems more fun than like a Shiribako.

(01:08:39):
Like I I think it is going to show like the life of a manga
cub, but it's really about like having fun and being silly.
So it has the cute girls doing cute things tag.
So I don't think it's going to be like as educational as
Shiribako, but still has the adult cast version of comic
Girls, which is a show that I thought I was going to hate and

(01:09:00):
I ended up liking it way more. So that was on my list.
So I'm just like, OK, this seemsto be checking all the boxes of
shows that I've liked in the past and then add these other
elements that would raise my score probably.
And we got this one. So I, I I liked what I saw from
the PV. It looks really fun and cute.
And yeah, just get to explorers, the manga world.

(01:09:22):
Miles, do you have any thoughts on this one?
Yeah, as we all know, cute girlsdoing cute things.
A favorite of mine. You're a big fan, my animated
gear mono. But if anything is going to
usurp that, it'll be this I don't know, I I'll give this a
go. It looks like it could be fun.

(01:09:43):
I, I like adult cast stuff like honestly, anytime there's an
adult cast show and it seems at least half sincere, I like want
to give it a fair shake and so Iwill do as such for this.
But what it also could just be ashow where nothing happens often
as the case with cute girls doing cute things, not always,

(01:10:04):
but a lot of the time. And it's just not for me.
But I'll give it a go and we'll,we'll try it.
That's that's about all I got. I haven't really seen, I haven't
seen Shiribako. I haven't seen any of the manga
shows really. And it's, it's an interesting
premise, right? Because there's a lot of stuff
they could go into in that. And I'm interesting to see how

(01:10:27):
it, how it deals with some of the issues mangaka faces or if
it decides to ignore them. You know, I can see the argument
for either. You know, sometimes it's fun to
make an idealized version of what you do, and then other
times you want to highlight things and you can do that in a
in a fun way, you know? It's all the scalability.

(01:10:50):
Are you doing 80% educational and 20% fun or 80% fun and 20%
education? I think the more popular version
is the 80% fun. And then you have something more
like I, I would say Shirbacco's like, I don't know, 5050 And
it's, I feel like it'd be kind of hard to go past that in
anime. So I'm expecting this one to be

(01:11:11):
like 80% fun, 20% educational. Yeah, I guess it would feel like
a bit weird to do because like, a lot of manga have like issues,
right? Like health problems that stem
directly from their job and the deadlines they face and all of
that, and the fact that they're hunched over drawing for 12

(01:11:34):
hours a day. And so it's going to be it's
interesting to see how they'll deal with that at all if they
do, because you want to keep it fun because I met, you know, the
reason, you know, these people love their jobs, but you also
have to give up a lot. It's sort of like if there was
like an NFL manga, like, how would you deal with like

(01:11:55):
concussions And that, you know, would you broach it?
Would you not broach? Is that sort of what I'm and now
that I think about it, like cutegirls playing gridiron football,
Would they talk about concussions?
No, they wouldn't. Yeah, the the Chaon of football
doesn't talk about they're. Grinders, they don't got time to
worry about CTE, OK, they're busy.

(01:12:19):
They're busy in the in the trenches with their girl playing
football. Oh my goodness.
OK. So I shield 21.
It's eyeliner 21. OK, OK, I got our.
Last one. It is Yano Kun's ordinary days,
always reliable and kind hearted.

(01:12:40):
Kyoko Yoshida is named the president of Class 21.
On the first day of school, a boy named Yano Suyoshi arrives
late covered in injuries. Due to her caring nature, in
addition to Yano being seated right next to her, Kyoko can't
help but worry about him and howhe got those injuries to begin
with. After cautiously following home

(01:13:01):
one day, she learns the truth. He is just extremely clumsy.
Kyoko soon finds herself constantly worrying about Yano
both at school and at home, not realizing she's falling in love
with him. Armed with the first aid kit,
Kyoko makes it her mission to care Fiona's mishap related
injuries as romance between the two begins to blossom.

(01:13:21):
So this is a chance at redemption for a completely
different show with a similar concept.
Do you know what that shows? Shikamari, right?
Yes, which has lived rent free in my head.
It's our only YouTube chart we've ever made.
It's about Shikamari's not cutie.

(01:13:42):
It is cemented in our lore. As long as this dude is clumsy
in the same way that I'm clumsy where I trip a lot, my shoes are
always united. I'm bumping into things and
knocking things over and hurt myself, I'm happy.
You know, as long as it's not like a thing where it's like,
oh, you're like in blood blockade, battlefront or

(01:14:05):
whatever battle, whatever, whereit's like, you know, planes are
crashing around you, which is like kind of the case in
Shikamori. That kid was so unlucky.
It was horrible. But one the the whole group of
friends here looks like they're having fun and feels like pretty
authentic looking in this like you got the two happy go lucky
people and some different like there's just the different vibes

(01:14:27):
that make up like a high school friend group.
So I'm excited to see how this all plays out.
As someone who was like I, I don't know, like kind of clumsy
and like would I? I never got as beat up as this
guy but like I had to wear an eye patch to school for a while
because I got shot in the eye with a makeshift bow and arrow.
Bad ass. And yeah, we, we had bamboo in

(01:14:48):
my backyard and we like, made weapons with them.
And then I got shot and that wasthat.
The best of us, yeah. We weren't allowed to do it
anymore. But like, mom, you know, you
know, there's just like the things like that where, you
know, someone's like a little unfortunate, but it's not crazy.

(01:15:09):
Like, I just feels like this will be grounded.
I hope it is. What do you got, Pete?
I watched the PV it was hilarious.
It was every. It was so much better than what
I thought it was going to be. The voice acting added a lot to
the comedy. It remind me of pseudo harem
from last year where how like her different personalities

(01:15:30):
added to the comedy. That was last year.
It was last year like kind of inthe same sense with like their
reactions and how they sound to those reactions added an element
to the comedy, which I really liked.
It looked pretty good, but you said it felt authentic and it
felt grounded. It didn't feel anime.

(01:15:52):
I would say like it's anime in the sense that he's like
extremely unlucky and gets hurt all the time type of thing.
But like everything else was like how you would react to like
a situation of somebody like tripped and fell or something
like that. But like exaggerated times 10.
The girls like how she was dealing with him in the PV was
like really funny because she's like, I'm trying to understand

(01:16:16):
him was like, wow, this dude is like super getting hurt all the
time. Like I'm concerned that he's
getting in all these fights and it turns out he's just like a a
clumsy nerd as and she starts todevelop feelings for a clumsy
nerd. I'm like, ah, my heart like it
was it was a really fun watch. I had, I think that I'm not even

(01:16:36):
kidding where it's like this might be one of the funniest
shows of the year. I laughed like 3 times in the
like the minute and a half. PVI laughed pretty hard at three
times. I liked what I saw.
This is going to be a really good time.
I I hope that this is as good asI think it's going to be.
Yeah, I so this this gives me the same vibe and OK, this gives

(01:16:58):
me the vibe of skip and loafer in the sense that like 1 the
front group kind of reminds me of it just from like how it is
like blocked here, like how everyone's posed and everything.
And then two, this feels like people will pretend it's a
shojo. It's in the same way because

(01:17:23):
like look at him like if you look at the it's got the, the,
the petals and the pink and the it's sort of pastel thing it.
Yeah, I, I, I get what you're saying.
No, for sure. And it's a romance, so people
are just going to say it's a show.
Yeah. Like every romance, you know
what I mean? Like my favorite show, Joe.

(01:17:44):
My dress up, darling. Yes, of course.
Apothecary Diaries. It's my favorite.
My favorite Joe say we're kidding, by the way.
Everyone out there. We're not kidding.
We believe this. Well, I'm a man and I watched
Apothecary. Oh, it's good.
Yeah, like low key though above Carter is sort of like yeah.

(01:18:11):
Who are we to decide? Yeah, that's it's up for the
publishers to decide who who thinks they're for.
Not the fans, because then Blow the Blue Lock would actually be
a shojo. I don't know, dude.
Like you would that demographic poll.

(01:18:34):
I don't know, dude. OK, yeah.
Anything else you want to talk about for before we get
cancelled on on this one? Yeah, no, I can't.
I can't think of anything. This looks great though.
I'm really excited about this. One, I I think this one's going
to be a lot of fun. OK, so that was all the new
properties that we are going to be talking about.

(01:18:56):
Miles, any sequels or shows we didn't talk about that is on
your radar? Yeah, well, so there's good
sequels coming up. Things that I'll be watching are
like Spy Family and honestly, that's kind of it for me.
But there are things for other people.
I'll let you talk about them because you'll know more for

(01:19:18):
sure. Movie movies though.
We got a lot of movies coming out that.
We got yeah, we have the Zombieland Saga movie, but.
We're probably not getting that for months here.
Yeah, well, I get probably not, but it it does come out, it's
worth noting. I suppose there's a golden comma

(01:19:39):
we movie coming out. Do you think they'll fuck a bear
in it? Yeah.
OK, great. What other movies do we have
coming out? We have 100M which is done by I
believe that's the guy who did Orb.
That movie comes out October 10th, which I will be seeing and

(01:20:01):
tentatively have planned to do aepisode on.
We have the Kobayashi movie. We have these are like confirmed
dates. So that's October 20th I believe
or the Kobayashi movie. October 24th is the chainsaw man
movie, which is on do the Reese arc.
Oh, I actually. Like that arc?

(01:20:22):
Yeah, me too. Yeah, that that this is like
when I after the end of the Rezearc is when I start disliking
Chainsaw Man. Up until this point, I like
Chainsaw Man. We got the new the guy who did
Mamaru Hosoda, who did like boy and the Beast Girl who loved
Through time, his new movie Scarlet, which is like a time

(01:20:46):
traveling Isakai, but it looks alittle darker than his other
works. So it'll be intrigued to see how
that. Looks like a bad ass.
Yeah, it looks, really, it lookspretty damn good, I'm not going
to lie. Trying to think if there's any
other movies that I'm interestedin.

(01:21:07):
I guess we get Gigux movie. I think maybe that's already out
on YouTube or it's coming out onYouTube.
Bond. There's a Gigux movie.
Yeah, it's like 12 minutes long.Oh.
And then there's one called Chow, but I don't think we're
going to get that one for a longtime.
That's that one was like the main characters like a fish or

(01:21:28):
something like a giant fish living with humans.
Sequels. I know One Punch Man and two
year eternity season 3 are coming out.
I dropped season 2 for both of those, so I won't be watching
either of those. The big one that I'm looking
forward to. My slime is back, Sui is back.
Campfire Cooking in Another World Season 2 is premiering.

(01:21:51):
I cannot wait to see Sui again. That is my son slash daughter
slash slime. I love Sui.
Nobody else can have Sui. That is, that's my baby spy
family you mentioned. I will be watching that as well.
I think if there's any other sequels the Raw must second

(01:22:11):
season comes out, I won't be watching that.
I actually liked Rama, I'm just not into it.
But you were wondering, I was answering.
No, you're right. You're right.
No, you're right. Yeah, you're right.
But Cinderella Gray. Cinderella Gray Part 2.
I started rewatching Part 1 thisweek.

(01:22:33):
I can't wait. I am getting kind of into Uma
Museveni probably a little too much, but the more I dive into
the franchise, I'm sorry. It's great.
It's just like, I don't know, everybody interact with in like
the Uma Museveni community, really nice and great people.
The show really good. Like Cinderella Gray is great.

(01:22:57):
It is a great show like. I gave it an 8.
I'll take that. I I originally gave it an 8 and
then I bumped it up to A9 early or like a few weeks ago after I
was like, I'm a rewatch Cinderella Gray and I like if
you know me, I don't really rewatch shows that all too
often. So says something if I'm

(01:23:19):
rewatching a show. What?
Why are you giving me? Why are you giving me this look?
How often do I rewatch shows? All the time, man.
Every time we do. Every, every time.
I'm on first impressions. You're like I've watched season
episode 1 of this show 14 times.Yeah, but that was when I was
like way back when, when I had nothing going on and I would

(01:23:40):
watch. Man this was this was like 2
years ago. Yeah, way back when I had
nothing going on. I'm sorry.
I like anime. My bad.
Yeah, you're allowed to lie. I'm just saying like you're like
oh don't. The most times I've rewatched
the show is 8 times. Yeah, but.
It's very, very children. It's like 12 minute episodes.

(01:24:03):
I've rewatched like maybe 7 anime like.
Don't hate the fire, hate the game.
Come. On I, I OK, you're allowed to
like Cinderella Gray. It's it's a fine show.
Hey the the the like main antagonist is named Obey Your
Master, which is the hardest name for a horse villain ever.

(01:24:26):
Obey your Master? That's such a great name.
But yeah, I think that's it. I think, and I really do think
that's all. I'm watching Kingdom season 6
for those who are interested. But yeah, I, I mean, just
overall, I mean, a week, week, season, other shows that I'm
checking. Oh, I forgot to do the other

(01:24:47):
shows I'm checking out. Let's play.
I've already seen episode one atAX Miles.
You might like that just becausethere's so many, like, video
game references, OK. And they're all adults.
And it takes place in California, not Japan, which I
think is cool. That's kind of fun.
Yeah, like let's play. Yeah, like the one of the main

(01:25:07):
characters is like Martial Law, which is from Tekken.
Her dog's name is Bowser. Her friend's name is Link.
Her name is Samara, which is from something I don't really
remember What video game is Samara from Mass Effect.

(01:25:28):
I know. OK, OK, I knew it was from.
Oh, so oh, there's a blue samara, OK.
Yeah, there's a bunch of like that.
All these are like reference like her friend group they're in
like a Wow Guild and they brain so hers.
Kind of like a deep cut NASA, it's not like not that deep, but
she's in two. I don't know if it's.
Named after her. But I typed in Samara video
game. That was the first time that
popped up. I was like, yeah, people heard

(01:25:50):
Mass Effect. Let's go on that.
Yeah, yeah. It's like, I mean like as far as
main characters of the series go, a minor main character like
not Liara or anything, or like Shepherd or Ashley.
OK, there's also a a another, well this one not another.
There's a shojo workplace romance called Plus Size

(01:26:14):
Misadventures in Love where the main character is like a plus
size girl, which I always love exploring those stories to see
how they deal with whatever thatwas.
We watched the PV and it looked way more fun than serious than I
thought it was going to be. So that looks like it's going to
be a good time. And I'm sure there's going to be
random shows that pop up that somebody checks out where it's
like, you know, maybe we get like a Lord of Mysteries this

(01:26:36):
season. I was like, holy shit, what is
this show? Everybody needs to go watch it.
And then everyone watches like, what the fuck?
No one understands what the first episode was.
So maybe we get something like that this season.
But I'm looking forward to just checking out these.
I would say more simpler properties, maybe not super in
depth chilling this season. And so we're just getting ready

(01:26:56):
for winter 2026 because that looks like it's going to be
insane. Like all looks like I don't know
the I don't a peewee baseball team versus a Major League
Baseball team that's fall versus.
I think baby versus nuclear. Yes, that is exactly it.
Like Witcher is free red, Hell'sparadise, Jiu jitsu, kaisen oshi

(01:27:22):
noko, fire force, golden Kamui, medalist.
Oh, more medalist, more medalist.
Like God, I loved medalist. Witcher is just going to be
bonkers and then fall. It's like we have the Santa
show. It's like cool, I'm I'm for it,

(01:27:42):
but it's not going to hit we. Didn't even talk about the most
like membered non sequel show. Oh, it's.
My friend's little sister has itin.
Yeah, there's a reason why I didn't want to talk about that.
At least it's not his little sister.
That is a plus. Yeah, that just like looks

(01:28:03):
there's like a show. The dude's garden is about to
explode. That came out this season.
It reminds it looks like that show which I dropped after the
first episode. See, this sort of makes me think
of like Takage son just based onthe where it's like this girl is
mean to me and I I like that. Yeah, but that's different

(01:28:24):
because like in Takagi, they're like in 4th grade, he's like
high school. And then when she's mean, it's
not as fun. It's always.
Funny. We'll see.
I don't know you. How about you watch it?
The the manga has a six. There's a six.
Point it's just so funny like how did this is this is actually
a thing I was wondering about ishow this became well the manga

(01:28:48):
is I guess relatively popular but like OK this is 50,000
members and the manga has 20 Didsomeone highlight this was there
Like I don't know is this mother's basement spots favorite
show? It's all, you know what, I'm
there. It's it's AI boded plan to watch

(01:29:08):
us. That's the only thing I can
think of. OK, yeah, I, I thought like
maybe someone just like highlighted it, you know what I
mean? Like some big game tube or like,
what do you say? Anime?
Yes, Yeah, we we really move theneedle.
We move some. But like, that's, yeah, I'm
unsure exactly what's going on here.

(01:29:28):
I think that I think we're good for the rest of fall.
I think we can call it here. Let us know what you're watching
this season, whether it's in ourcomments, whether it's in our
Discord, whether it's in our Spotify comments.
You can leave comments there. Be a messenger pigeon.
Messenger Pigeon, We got that once.
And I I'll take a picture of it and post it on the Discord.

(01:29:49):
Yeah, so. Yeah, but let us know and be
intrigued to see when we do our first impressions episode if
things change, if the things that we liked were bad, the
things that we thought were bad were good.
Really fun to check out when we get to that point, but we'll
find out in a few weeks when we actually get this season.
So thank you, Miles, for joiningus.
Thank you everyone out there who's listening.

(01:30:10):

in two weeks. If you're here for non watch
club stuff, we are reviewing summer, so I'm going to be

(01:30:34):
giving out a lot of nine. So if you like here in the
number 9, come check out next review episode.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
