Speaker 1 (00:08):
I write to you today after giving a great deal
of thought about a very intense encounter that happened in
the winter of nineteen ninety one. My older brother by
two years and I attended college together at the same
time and in the same class, since we served two
years active duty in the US Army before we both
(00:28):
enrolled as freshmen in nineteen eighty nine. We lived in
Daytona Beach, Florida at the time, and we were both
attending college in Ohio from nineteen eighty nine to nineteen
ninety three. I was a pre med business student and
a collegiate athlete. My brother is a US Army reservist
(00:48):
and a musician. We weren't partiers or troublemakers. We were
your normal, average college students. We were returning from our
Christmas break in Florida, making the fourteen hour drive back
to Ohio in time to have a Sunday off to
unwind and prep for classes at eight the next Monday morning.
(01:11):
I actually don't even know if I truly believed in
Bigfoot then, but I certainly do now. I had never
heard of dog Man until just very recently, as a
result of your channel. My brother told me about your
YouTube channel. About eight weeks ago, he and I were
discussing an episode of your show, and the memory came
(01:32):
to both of us as if it happened a few
hours ago. It was very vivid and so real. What
I'm about to share with you happened to him as
the driver of the car and us because I was
in the passenger seat. Recounting the story to you over
the keyboard brings me goosebumps as I type. It was
(01:54):
a cold night. There was snow on the sides of
the road, some ice patches from time to time, but
for the most part the roads were clear. My brother
was moving along at about seventy miles an hour. The
window cracked open just a bit to balance out the
heat from the defrost and the heater. We had not
seen a car for some time going in either direction.
(02:17):
Both he and I were drawn to look over to
the left lanes because a very large wolf like animal
bounded once from the median towards our lane. This was
a four lane highway, and the animal needed just one
jump to cover the twenty plus feet to enter our
side of the highway. Its jaws were wide open as
(02:38):
it leapt towards our car. Now keep in mind this
is happening in the time it takes for us to
close the distance of five hundred or so yards at
seventy miles per hour, even with him slowing down out
of sheer shock at the size of this creature. Just
a few seconds was all it took, and then creature
(03:00):
stopped and stood on the medium. It crouched a bit
and jumped over the two lanes on each side of
the highway, literally right into the oncoming lane that we
were on. It was within a foot or two of
hitting us. Eyes as wide as silver dollars, we looked
at each other and said, if we were in one voice,
(03:20):
did you see that our adrenaline was kicked in the
hair on our arms, standing straight up, and our senses
were on alert as we realized what had just happened.
I turned around to look out the back window, and
in the red glow of the break lights, I saw
the creature. It was easily four feet tall at its
(03:41):
back and eight to ten feet in length from nose
to tail. Its head was massive, and it stood another
two plus feet above the backbone. It was three quarter broadside,
so I was able to see just how massive this
thing was. We immediately thought of coyote, only because that
(04:02):
is the only animal that we could think it resembled.
This was no wolf for coyote. Though it was massive.
My brother and I went back and forth for the
rest of the trip trying to identify it. It looked
much more like a werewolf that you would read about
in the comic books or see in a movie. After
listening to the dog Man's stories on your channel, I
(04:24):
could not help but think that this massive beast we
saw that cold December night was a dog man. We
now discussed Bigfoot regularly, and we both believe that these
creatures exist. I'm going to give credit to you and
your subscribers for sharing their encounters. It is not always easy.
My brother and I never told anyone in our family
(04:47):
about that creature because nobody would believe us. Even now,
when we're together and the topic of Bigfoot comes up,
our family members are split evenly between the believers and
the doubters. We have an older brother who is one
hundred percent convinced that Bigfoot is indeed very real. He
moved to the mountains in Utah about six years ago,
(05:10):
and he says the reality is palpable. This is a
story from Maria. This is really good. She writes. In
February of twenty twelve, I travel from my home in
Texas to visit my sister who lived with my nephew
at the time in Seattle, Washington. After they took me
(05:33):
around Seattle to the fine dining establishments and for a
boat ride at Puget Sound, I told my nephew I
wanted to buy some bigfoot stuff. Bigfoot, why, he asked,
because Washington State is the Bigfoot capital of the world
with the most sightings. I told him. I explained that
I had been interested in bigfoot for years and that
(05:54):
I watched countless YouTube videos and TV documentaries on the topic. I,
joking Lisa, said that I'd like to go bigfoot hunting. Well,
he was not amused. Seeing his reaction, I asked him
if he believed in Bigfoot. Well, I don't know, he said,
And then, after thinking for a minute, he told me
what happened to him and his wife when they first
(06:15):
got married. In two thousand and one. My nephew's wedding
was held at the Navajo Nation Reservation in New Mexico.
His wife, a Navajo, grew up near the Nahoa Ugh
I kind of hate to pronounce this word. Natchitty now
chitty mountains, nasc hi t ti the not shitty mountains.
(06:39):
How about that? Our entire family from Texas, so we
all around thirty of us, drove up the day before
the wedding to the reservation where the wedding ceremony and
festivities were to be held. It was a large open
field of one hundred square yards surrounded by trees. His
wife's Navajo grandmother lived in a log cabin the same area,
(07:01):
just outside the trees. There were no hotels in that area,
so we took tents and camping gear. The following evening,
when the wedding festivities had ended, we sat around the
campfire and enjoyed the stars. Afterward we all turned in.
The Next morning, our family drove back home to Texas,
and my nephew and his wife planned to camp out
(07:22):
one more night so they could spend a little more
time with their family before leaving on their honeymoon. That evening,
my nephew and his wife were sitting around the campfire
when far away they heard the strange, loud, deep growls.
They said nothing to each other and they continued talking.
They heard the growls two more times, each time a
(07:43):
little closer and louder than before. It grew quiet for
a while, and they got easier, and they finally decided
to turn in for the night, and my nephew got
up to put away some of their gear. As he
was putting out the fire, they heard another growl. This
time it was and it was really loud. He asked
his wife what animal was growling, and she said she
(08:06):
didn't know, she'd never heard anything like it before. Well,
they both looked around to see what it was, but
it was pitch dark beyond a few yards. They continued
to put things away. As they were doing so, the
growling came closer still and even louder. Now my nephew,
who was normally a calm and level headed person, was
(08:28):
beginning to panic. Let's get the heck out of here,
he said to his wife. They began throwing things into
the bed of his truck with no regard for damaging
any of it, and the growling was now within thirty
yards and beginning to sound angrier. When it got to
within a few feet of them, he yelled at his
wife get in the truck. They jumped in and sped
(08:49):
out of the mountains as fast as they could. They
drove over an hour away to Gallop, New Mexico, where
they got a hotel for the night. The next morning,
they drove back to their camp to get their tent
and whatever gear they'd left behind. Then they said goodbye
to her family and they left. When he finished his story,
(09:09):
I asked his wife what she thought it was, and
reluctantly she said she didn't know. But months later I
had the opportunity to speak with my nephew about it again.
I asked him if he thought what they heard was
a bigfoot. He said he didn't know, but he never
wanted to hear that sound again. Okay, here's a short
(09:34):
little story that anyway, you guys make your judgment on it, it's
a good one. Several weeks ago, I found myself hiking
in the rocky mountains of Utah with my girlfriend. We
were on a rocky slope with lots of fallen timber
and snow making the track difficult. Suddenly, rocks were being
thrown into us, and I turned to see down below
(09:56):
a small hairy person or creature throwing rocks. I called
out for it to stop, but one of the rocks
struck me on the hip and I went down. I
grabbed my girlfriend's hand and we limped up to what
looked like an opening to a cave, hoping to find protection,
and once inside, I realized that I could not walk
any further. It was at this time that I felt
(10:18):
that we were not alone, and in the darkness of
this cave, I could see the large shadow of a
figure with glowing eyes approaching us. I tried to call out,
but for some reason it was almost impossible to speak,
and with all my strength, I struggled to say, don't
hurt us, Please just help us. I'm hurt, I can't walk,
(10:41):
and I was holding my girlfriend's hand during all this,
hoping to protect her. The last thing I recall was
a huge hairy hand grabbing her away from me while
I forced out the words please don't hurt us. And
it was at this time I woke up. Yes, I
was only dreaming and had actually been calling out in
(11:02):
my sleep, at least trying to, and I believe that's
what finally woke me up. This really happened. What a
crazy nightmare. I can only say that I must be
listening to too many cryptied stories. Cam you don't have
to read this to your faithful followers, but I did
want to share it with you because it was so
dang odd And by the way, I sure hope there's
(11:24):
not a sequel to this one. And he signs off anyway,
that was worth reading. I just pull that up. I
didn't know how that was going to end, and it
kind of surprised me at the end. So I just
he had written it so well I didn't have to
do anything to it, so I just started reading it.
That's a cool email. And it kind of relates to bigfoot,
I guess, and listening to too many cryptied stories because
(11:47):
it'll get to you if you go too deep with it.
Listen to a couple of them, Listen to a couple
of podcasts, watch some you know, the real bigfoot of
people on YouTube, and then give it a break. Go
out and like god, do and go out, get outside
and do something. Man, this bigfoot stuff it actually it
is so pervasive in the bigfoot culture that some people
(12:12):
really obsess on it. I'm not saying this guy does,
but he did have a bad dream about it. Anyway,
nothing of that appreciate the story. It was really good
right in the middle of the Shawnee National Forest in
Illinois is an old churchyard complete with a cemetery containing
grave markers of people who were killed by Indians. They
(12:36):
used to put that information right on the headstones back then,
nearly sixteen years ago, when we first started deer hunting
that area, I'd bring our camper there in camp next
to the dead. You'd think that would mean a peaceful night.
I've heard a lot of people who lived next to
cemetery say that they are the quietest and best neighborhoods
(12:57):
to live in. Well, that wasn't the case for us.
Every time we camped there, we'd all hear things running
around in the middle of the night. Well it must
be ghosts from the cemetery, we always joke. And then
one night, while we were all sitting around a campfire,
we started hearing those noises a little earlier than normal.
(13:17):
It sounded like they were coming from over by a
pond that was close by. All conversation around the fire
stopped as we all listened and tried to understand what
we were hearing. When the sounds started getting closer, one
of my buddies leaned over to me and he said, well,
it sounds like a bunch of kids are laughing over there.
It was late enough in the evening that we considered
(13:39):
it odd for kids to be in the woods playing
in the dark. And then as the sounds changed a little,
he said, now I think maybe that's adults yelping and
whooping and messing around. Well, it must be someone from
the other deer camps, I said, after all, we weren't
the only ones out there. I don't think we said
(14:00):
much after that. We were too interested in trying to
identify the sounds, And when they got closer still, someone
pointed out that it didn't sound quite human when we
heard the whistles. We all acknowledged that they sounded strange anyway.
Around ten PM, with an early morning ahead of us,
(14:21):
we decided to call it a night and turned in.
And after that things got quiet for a while, and
then we heard a loud whack that we were all
startled out of our sleep from. No three men ever
jumped out of their beds so quickly. What is that,
one of my buddies hist There was nothing now, no
(14:42):
more big bangs, no laughing children, no strange whistles, just
a earie silence that left us all with an uneasy
feeling in our guts. Finally, I said, ah, it's probably
guys from one of the other camps playing a joke
on us. Let's go back to sleep. I can't say
that I believed my own words, but it was enough
(15:02):
to get us all back into our beds that night,
though it wasn't enough to give any of us a
good night sleep. At five o'clock the next morning, we
ate our breakfast, We got ourselves ready, and we each
headed out to our own stands. Mine was twenty feet
up an old oak tree by a pond, and as usual,
(15:23):
I was in it way too early, so I took
a nap. I didn't know it, but turkeys were roosting
in the tree not ten feet from me. I found
that out when something woke them up and flushed them
out of the tree, and it startled me so bad
that I nearly fell out of my stand. I was
still trying to reposition myself and regain my balance when
(15:45):
I began to smell something putrid. It was like a
dead dog soaked in a septic tank. Ugh seconds later,
the smell hit me and I heard the same strange
whooping sound from the night before this time, it sounded
like it was calling people in to eat, and it
wasn't that far away. Well. I sat frozen in place,
(16:08):
trying to pinpoint the exact location, when footsteps rustled through
the leaf matter behind me. The steps were definitely by pedal,
so it couldn't be a wool for a coyote, and
at the same time, the smell and the weird whooping
sound told me it wasn't a human either. I broke
into a cold sweat when it walked right up behind
(16:29):
my tree and it stopped. I wanted to turn around
to see what was there, but I was afraid. I
needed to know what I was up against. But panic
shook my hands and rattled my brain. I couldn't make
up my mind what I should do, what I had
to do, and what I would do if I was attacked.
Before I could make a decision, it stepped right out
(16:52):
in front of me. Now this thing was every bit
of nine feet tall, and it was covered in black hair.
I sat there, staring down at it as it stared
down at the ground, apparently looking for a place to
sit while fight or flight or battling out In my chest,
that ungodly thing planted itself under a tree directly in
(17:14):
front of me, and then, with a dull thud, my
cigarette lighter slipped out of my pocket and fell to
the bottom of my dear stand well. The monster jumped
straight up and began looking up into the trees around
it in search of the source of the sound. It
turned around and looked straight up into the tree that
it had been sitting under, which put its back to me. Please,
(17:38):
I whispered, don't turn around and look at me. I
knew what I was looking at. I'd heard about these
things and how they could tear a man to pieces
if they wanted to, and I knew if it saw me,
I would have no escape. As these thoughts raced through
my mind and pushed my blood pressure to stroke levels,
(17:59):
the sasquatch slowly and deliberately turned and looked directly at me,
and just for a second, I think I may have died.
My heart quit beating and I quit breathing, and all
fault left my mind except for one. Don't look at
square in the eye. Every possible scenario ran through my mind,
(18:20):
all of them ending in my agonizing death. But do
you know what this thing did? It smiled at me
at least that's how I interpreted it. Then it let
out a howl that sounded different from the earlier whoops.
I got the idea that it was telling the others
that it had found someone here and to not come by.
(18:42):
And with a little growl and what looked ridiculously like
a wave of its hand, it walked away.
