Coming July 2!

We are so excited to introduce our new podcast, What Kind of Man Are You, hosted by us, Chris Garbutt and Degan Davis. We're two guys who have written about this subject and spoken about it for years, decades even, and we believe that the best way to understand something is to talk about it openly. So for our first season, we're going to discuss our experiences as men, and our own evolving understandings of what masculinity means.

Chris is a writer and communications professional, and Degan is a Gestalt therapist, writer and author of the poetry collection What Kind of Man Are You? To get a copy of Degan's book, head over to Brick Books.

Please support this endeavour and ensure a season two! You can support us at Buy Me a Coffee.

We want to stay in touch. Sign up for our newsletter, or contact Chris or Degan directly.

Hello, my name is Chris Garbutt.

(00:04):
And I'm Degan Davis.
Chris, what kind of man are you?
You know, I think about that a lot, but I still don't know if I have the answer to that question.
Well, I did write an entire book of poetry on it.
Oh yeah. Isn't it literally called What Kind of Man Are You?
Yes, it is.
So folks, we are hosting a new podcast coming out soon with the very same name.

(00:29):
We're going to take a look at men, masculinity, what it is to be a man, and what is it that makes us tick.
So please look for What Kind of Man Are You on your favorite podcast platform.
Wait, what kind of man are you, Deegan?
We'll have to wait to find out.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
