Taking that extra moment to read those labels can give us valuable insights into the preservatives hiding within, helping us make informed choices about what we put into our bodies. Think about it: Have you ever been caught off guard by a sneaky label claiming to be "natural" or "organic," only to discover it is loaded with synthetic additives? It happens more often than we realize! And those vague terms like "artificial flavors" can leave us scratching our heads, wondering what is really in our food. But fear  not! "Today, we're diving into Preservative Basics, unraveling the mysteries of different types of preservatives, understanding capsule variations, and exploring the regulations that govern them." These little additives' purposes are to quietly work behind the scenes to keep our food fresh and safe. They are the reason our bread stays mold-free, and our supplements retain their potency.Preservatives are additives used in food and supplements to prolong their shelf life by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeast. So, when you looked at that random bottle off the shelf, or even the one you carefully interrogated, you may have seen these ingredients: Sodium Benzoate,Sodium Nitrite/Nitrate, BHA (Butylated Hydroxy anisole) and BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene), Potassium Sorbate, and Sulfites!  Whether you can pronounce them or not, these are the ones commonly found in processed foods, beverages, and supplements to prevent spoilage and maintain freshness.
