Hi everyone, welcome back and thanks for tuning into another episode, or if you're new, welcome! We're happy you're here.
I finally felt ready to discuss something that is unfortunately so very common: being in a toxic and unhealthy relationship. Toxic relationships can take many forms and are not limited to romantic relationships. *TRIGGER WARNING* In this episode, I discuss my own personal experiences of domestic violence. This episode is dark one, but also a real, honest, open, and vulnerable one. I share about my experience and story of being in a mentally, emotionally, and physically abusive relationship that lasted many years. Thankfully, I was eventually able to leave the relationship and continue to love, grow, and heal even after all the pain and suffering. I was even lucky enough to find a man who showed me what love truly is. My main hope for this episode is that by sharing my story any out there who may be in a similar situation that I was can fell less alone, and know that there is hope. If I could get out and move on with my life, you can too. And you absolutely deserve the real and genuine love you're so desperately yearning for, and it is not with that person. I also talk about some signs of unhealthy vs. healthy relationships. Your friends and family ALWAYS KNOW. Listen to them.
I also hope this episode sheds light for some of those people who may be blinded by "love" and manipulation, that no matter who the person is or what their connection is to you that if they disrespect you, put you down, and intentionally hurt you over and over again - they aren't going to change, and it's not your responsibility to change them. These are the hallmarks of a toxic relationship, and the best thing you can do is walk away and focus on healing, learning, and growing. I would also be more than happy to talk to anyone who wants to speak with someone who understands what they're going through (or have been through), or even if you just need someone to listen. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at any of the links below. You deserve a kind, gentle, patient, caring, and selfless love, and you can start by choosing to walk away from the toxicity and abuse, and giving that love back to the person who needs it most: you.
With all my love,
Kelsey <3
As discussed in the episode, trying to leave an abusive relationship is the most volatile and dangerous time for a domestic violence victim. Please be very careful, and seek out help. I've provided some resources below for anyone who needs help, or to find assistance with taking whatever steps need to be done to safely get out. I have not personally used any of these resources, but did some research to provide us much help as I could.
