how about this call?
Oh, wait, no, I really need to ask youthis because, when I walk by your coffee.
Right. Your coffee smells so good.
What is it?
I before before I come to the studio here,I go to a place called Common Grounds.
It's like 8 or 9 locationshere in the shrubland, right?
Yeah.
(01:47):
And Wilson and Dena, they own the place, and it's like my favorite place
to go get coffee.
But what is, the brand?
This one is vanilla macadamia.
Oh, they have a different flavorevery day.
Good day.
Enjoys. I, I go out of my way.
My wife laughs at me.
There could be a coffee shopright down the street.
I go out of my wayto go to Common Grounds.
That's how good it is.
(02:07):
Yeah. That smells. Oh, yeah.
Sounds fantastic.
What does that mean?If I go there tomorrow, it may not have.
It'd be a probably a different flavorof the day, but it is so good.
So good. Yeah.
And it's so good too.
I mean, we just have so much to begrateful for.
We've got the holidays upon us, choice.
Holidays and talking about Covid, but.
Grateful to be working with you, hanging out with you.
(02:29):
I love this.
This is like, I don't know, like my yoga class or something.
Yeah.
And we're grateful for the folksbehind the scenes here,
you know, David and Stefania and Robertwho does a lot of our marketing.
It's just, Robert Graham.
Yeah.
People see us here on camera, but it's all the people behind the scenes
that really make this thing happen, and we're so grateful for them. Yes.
Thank God it was.
(02:49):
Thank God.
Really sitting in my basement doing this.
We were doing that back.
There's going to be a program about that.
We should dig out some of the early tapesof us in your basement right?
Oh my goodness, how far we've comeor how far we've fallen.
It depends.
It depends on perspective, right? Yes.
Yeah, but it's always been good.
(03:10):
Yeah. It's always been good.
So you got some notes right there.
You got a.
I just had some notesthat we were going to talk about today.
Like, like hacking your holidayeating habits.
For sabotaging. Or sabotage.
A lot of us sabotage.
You know, I,I did a little bit of that over Halloween
because, you know, you and I, Joyce, were pretty good with our nutrition.
We're pretty much spot on.
Exceptthat wasn't so much during Halloween.
(03:31):
So what happened to during Halloween?
Oh, I get caught up in it.
You know, we
we went to a couple Halloween functionsand we went to one together at,
at woodwinds recently.
And, I don't know, I just love candy.
Yeah, I have candy.
We do candy. Your.Yeah, it's my Kryptonite.
I love Baby Ruth bars.
Sky bars, which I found.
The Sky bars are still available. They were big when I was a kid.
(03:52):
They have, like, different flavors, just like different segments.
Peanut butter, caramel, vanilla.
And their little. Segments are layers.
Like different segments.
And, and they've been around forever. And they're still.
I thought they'd
pretty much gone by the wayside, but you could still get them.
Yeah. Of course. Peanut butter cups.
I love him when he, Hershey's,like three Musketeers, Milky way.
(04:13):
SnickerI love them all. All right, all right.
You don't discriminate. Against. No.
And my wife has seen me on the couchwhen we're watching something.
And she'll say.
And she'll see all these wrappersnext to me on the couch, right.
The cats on one sideand the candy wrappers on the other.
So I kind of, like, hack myselfor sabotage myself a little bit.
But then I got right back on track since, you know, because of my intermittent
(04:34):
fasting and my strict nutrition, for the most part.
Yeah, that allows you to do that.
But now, though, now that we're entering holiday season,
I know it's difficult for a lot of people.
And some people will say to me, well, you know what?
I'm just going to forget about the diets, forget about anything.
I'm going to eat my waythrough the holidays.
(04:54):
But then it's so difficultto lose that weight afterwards.
So that's what happened to me years ago.
I mean, you know, people will say to me, oh,
it's easy for you to saybecause you're on the thin side.
I wasn't always I.
Know it hard to believe that you saidyou were. Actually, I. Was 40 people.
I was, yeah, probably closer to 50 poundsheavier, really.
(05:15):
And when I lost the weight, I decided
I am never going to go through this again.
It's so easy to put it on. Yeah.
Why can you put it on over a weekend?
But it took me, like a year,
you know, to lose that sensibly.
Like I didn't do a crash diet.
I usually don't work.
(05:36):
Yeah, it's got to be a lifestyle.
It's got to be a commitment.
Because I used to be a personal trainer.
You know?
I used to be a
and I had so many customers and clients,I would guide them through and,
but I'd also throw myselfunder the bus too,
because so many timespeople feel really bad when they binge.
Yeah.
And they would come in the next morningand they feel really guilty.
I say, listen, I've done it too, right?
Know this is a brand new day.
Let's start all over again today.
(05:58):
It's a brand new day to start.
Yesterday's gone and let's focus on today.
And it just takes the pressure offbecause people just need that.
We all binge.
We're human
or we're not necessarily binge, but we all kind of
go like the who reservationevery now and then.
Right.
But the, the,the trick is to get back on track.
Like you said, it is so, you know, and I worked for many, many years
(06:21):
for a group of cardiologists.
So every holidaythey would put out information about this.
And what I remember the most is like,if you're going to a holiday party,
drink water before and have some protein.
Yeah.
And I actually was going to
bring what I, you know do before a party.
(06:44):
And I had the dish all made up.
But I ate it before I came here.
That's a good one.
That's a really good piece of information.
Before we go out to parties, Pattyand I would eat something like
yeah before we go there.
So we're not going to be pickingon all the appetizers, right?
That's where the calories, you know, really add up.
Oh yeah.
Because when I'm doing
wedding receptions, Joyce deejaying those,I'll see people with the appetizers.
(07:04):
Yeah.
And people coming up and up and up and upand just one adhere to a there are three.
That's thousands of calories.
Before they even got into the entree.
I saw a woman eating a whole bowl of nuts.
And and after she finished the nuts, she said, I don't know why I can't lose
weight, you know, because I've been tryingand I stay away from the fried foods.
(07:26):
Right?
But in that bowl of nuts, there's like a thousand calories.
Right?
And depending on the nuts as well,
I mean, when you're talking about, like, people think peanuts are really healthy,
they're not.
I mean, peanut,
the peanut plant is related to the, poisonivy plant poison medication.
I love peanut butter.
Yeah, I can eat a whole jar.
Isn't it a lagoon, though?
(07:47):
Also, yeah, yeah, but I like almonds.
I like pecans. Like poison ivy.
Yeah, but.
Yeah, but you know, so related to the poison.
Ivy, is that why people have peanutallergies?
Maybe. Could be. But.
But I'm still guilty of eatingpeanut butter.
You know, I still like it,but I've been I trying to sway more.
Oh I love. Oh, yeah, but I love peanut butter out of the jar.
I do not want a Reese's.
(08:08):
I don't want an A cookie.I don't want to in a cake.
I want them all. No I wantI want them all.
I am just pathetic.
My wife says to me, you have no willpower.
And the thing is, I've competedin bodybuilding shows. Oh, you've.
Got. Well, I got a lot of willpower.
Yeah, but when I don't look, when. Youdon't, you don't. I don't.
She looks at me. She just shakes her head.
Yeah, but you're disciplined enoughnow that I am.
(08:29):
I mean, I can get right back on it.
I mean, I, I when I make the mindup, I said, okay, I'm back on again.
And since you know, since Halloween,I was spot on workouts, nutrition
and for my dessert, many times I'll have honey,
organic honey and raw almonds,
which is one of the best combinationsyou could ever be in your body.
Yeah, yeah.
As you know. Yeah. And with some cinnamon.
(08:51):
Oh, cinnamon. So. Right. And magnesium.
Make sure you get plenty of magnesium.
Because most people in this countrydo not have enough magnesium.
That's so so. And collagen.
So before the person let's sayleaves the house.
You know have a little bit of proteinhave a protein drink or protein bar.
I usually do a protein barwith a handful of nuts.
(09:13):
Not a lot you know.
But I love like raw organic pumpkin seeds.
Oh I loveI don't know I am like addicted to it.
I have it every single daybecause I love it.
Not because I have to.
So I do that.
And sometimes the the raw walnuts. Yeah.
The only nutsI like toasted or like almonds or
(09:35):
you know,
some other ones, but for some reason it'sthose.
It's a plantbecause a lot of us love pecan pie, but
it's a whole different thing,you know, because.
Well, I almost say,okay, on a, on a Thanksgiving,
I realize that I think I atealmost a whole one that somebody made
and I was making myself sick, but it was the best thing I ever.
(09:55):
Eight but after that,my body didn't want to eat for two days.
Yeah, it wasn't that I stop myselffrom eating, and I thought it was
my body's way of now knowinghow many calories and fat I needed.
And it was telling me, honey, you don't need anything else.
I did this for a couple of days.
Oh, God, it's you.
And we do do that all the time.
(10:17):
I mean, how many timesyou eat, you overeat on Thanksgiving?
Yeah.
And you're on the couchand you want to go into a coma?
Yes. Right. And you're just eating.
And then the next day you feel like,oh, can't believe I ate the whole thing.
Like that commercial.Back to that, right? All day.
And I've been guilty of that.I'll eat the whole.
And I usually hide because I don't wantpeople to see me pigging out.
So I'll be in the kitchenand Patty will yell, are you eating?
(10:39):
What are you.
Oh, no, no, no, the whole pie is gone.
You know, lemonmeringue is like one of my favorite pies.
Lemon meringue. But yeah, I love.
I love all pies.
I like pies more than cakes.
Me too, me too.I mean, I love cake, but I prefer pie.
But people who are in the kitchen cooking.
And those of you out there who do,
(11:00):
if you'repickers and you're tasting things
you may not realize you'realmost eating a whole meal because usually
the people they come to my house, you know, every holiday, my family,
I can't sit down and eat with thembecause I'm busy.
I'm doing stuff. So I may be picking here and there.
But here's another trick eatonly what you really like.
(11:21):
You don't have to try everything.
And if you're going to someone's home,
you could always take a little bit homewith you for the next day.
So I think a lot of people feel likethey have to eat.
But there's another reasonwhy I don't like eating at a party.
I really don't enjoy itbecause I like speaking to people.
Yes, and you'renot always hanging with your teeth.
(11:42):
Oh my god, yes, yes. Spinach.
Something you got saladhanging from your mouth, but people choke
because I worked in the restaurantbusiness.
I cut my teethmaking money in restaurants.
You know, business, waitressing, hostessing, all that stuff.
And so many times the ambulance was calledbecause people are choking,
because they're laughing and talkingwhile eating.
(12:04):
And it gets sucked down your esophagus.
And if someone doesn't know the Heimlichmethod, you're catching them soon.
I mean, it's really serious.
So I thought, I'm not going to do that.
I'm going to sit quietly and eat.
But if you're at an event and everyone'sspeaking, it's difficult.
So I'd rather not eat at an event.
Eat before, take some stuff home. Right.
(12:26):
And I'm good.
I do the same thing when a DJ events or MCevents too.
I'm not eating when I'm there.
Typically, like you saw methat event recently, I didn't eat
because I'm pretty much fasting rightfor most of the day anyway,
and I try not to eat after 8:00 at nightanyway.
Yeah, I don't. Think you don't want to be.
You want to give it at least 2 or 3 hoursbefore your last meal, before you eat.
And I found out two to be ableto control your blood sugar, especially
(12:48):
if you've had a really big meal.
Have like a teaspoon of applecider vinegar.
Put that in your waterlike a glass of water like this.
Right. And that really helpswith the insulin spikes.
You'll sleep better through the nightand you'll wake up with a fight or stomach
in the morning. It's great.
You know, that's really good.
I my mixed with chia seeds every nowand then.
I'm a big fan of the chia seedsbecause they're packed with omega three.
(13:09):
So you you mix the drink with so.
You sometimes I do you're.
Putting it in a blender then.
No, no I just I just stir it up.
How do you drink the chia seeds. You just drink it.
I what I do is when you putchia seeds in a glass of water.
Yeah.
Let them settle for 10 or 15 minutesand they become like a gel.
Right. And it's so. Good.
So do you spoon it outor do you, It's usually dissolves,
(13:31):
but it's almost like drinking pollywogeggs, you know?
But that sounds horrible. But it's so good for you.
But typically, I'll just have the appleapple cider vinegar on its own.
But usually I have chia seeds before.
It's a great way to break your fast, right?
You're fasting for a long period of time.
Glass of water with chia seeds or avocado
or cucumber slices with Celtic salt on it.
(13:55):
That sounds. Awesome. Protein.
Yeah,I usually do that with a Greek yogurt.
Oh yeah, I love Greek yogurt.
And the fewer ingredients the better.
If you're going to get your yogurt, your cottage cheese is 1 or 2 ingredients,
right?
Like there's a cottage cheeseI love called Daisy.
Yeah, it's only got two ingredients.
And some of the cottage yogurts.
I get are basically high fat,so I eat a lot less of them.
(14:17):
The low fat or no fat stuff.
What's what's going to get you?
Yeah, try to get high fat.
And that's what I dobecause you need the fat.
But just nothing as good as Greekplain yogurt.
Oh, that's what I do. Yeah.
It's like with. Honey. You love nuts, honey.
You know, look at that.
Wow. Okay.
But for the people who are going to ahome, let's say you're coming to my house.
(14:40):
So I'm like, you know.
Invited to Joyce'shouse your Thanksgiving.
Oh, yeah.
I make I other than making my own noodles, everything is from scratch.
So I make a big panel lasagna.
Then I make a big crock pot of,I think it's really good.
And my family does the turkeystuffing, but, it's vegetarian.
(15:01):
Okay, so I do the stuffing, I do thatI make a couple of broccoli pies.
Oh, broccoli.
So, Broccoli is so good for you.
But I asked my son. My son Tim.
I said, what can I make thatyou really like?
And he said, you know, I what
I really want,and I just don't make for myself.
(15:23):
I want a big pot of beef stew.
I said, okay, I can do that.
So we're taking one for the teambecause you don't eat meat?
No, I don't eat meat.
Anybody touching it. Right.
But yeah, but I do it for my family.
So I asked my son Jeffrey.
I said, do you really want like, turkey?
Because it doesn't seem like people eatturkey is like, whoa.
(15:45):
Then I had my son, my grandson say, no,we want turkey
because it's traditionaland one wants a whole turkey.
The other one wantsa, What do you like a breast of turkey?
So I said, okay, so I'm gonna havea whole turkey breast of turkey.
I'm going to have beef stew.
I'm going to have lasagna.
I'm going to have, mashed potatoes, sweet potato.
(16:05):
I didn'tI know we're regular for Thanksgiving.
And then I've got
this recipe, and now this is really going to test me
for a chocolate pecan pie.
Oh my.
Goodness. Oh my stomach.
Yeah. It's like right now.
And of course I'll have the traditionalpumpkin pie and I'll make an apple pie.
And as my sister said to me,who is coming to your
(16:29):
you don't have that many people.
I said, yep, it's Thanksgiving, you know, and I make everything from scratch.
So I've been saving up the apples.I've been saving up.
I bought the cans like a pumpkinpuree on sale for leftovers.
And maybe you can find somebodywho's in need.
Well, it's my my family's is.
And believe me,the family's in. Yes, yes, yes.
So I send everyone homewith a little care package.
(16:52):
But what?
So the thing is,if you're going to a house like mine
and there's all this stuffall over and a table full of desserts,
are you telling me
John and Joyce,
that I can get through thiswithout feeling so stuffed
that I feel like I'm going to throw upin my mouth when I bend over again?
(17:12):
You can. Yes, yes.
And the trick is what you eat a littleyou don't need.
You just need the taste of.
You don't need a whole slab of lasagna.
I'll give you some to take home. You know.
Am I really good at that?
Because, you know, she'll,
she'll take the little babycandies, like, during Halloween.
She'll have 1 or 2, and she's good.
(17:33):
Yeah, not like me,where I have to eat the whole bag.
And if you wait 15 minutes.
And I know a lot of you know this, but sometimes we just don't do it.
It takes a good 15 minutes for your brainto register that you're full.
That that was satisfying it.
But when you keep scarfing it in. Yeah.
You know, it's not triggering. Yeah.
That's my my challenge.
(17:54):
At times I eat a little bit too fastand then you get the bloating and you,
you don't let your brain catch upwith your stomach, right.
Or vice versa.
So if you eat slow, put your spoon down
like a knife down, have a conversationand then go back to eat.
You get fuller. Yeah.
You know, instead of just, you know,
like a shovel.
Right?
That's sometimes my problemwhen I'm fasting for so long.
(18:16):
By the time I eat, you know,I got to slow down.
And my wife always just slow down.
Slow down. Right. I'm guilty of. That.
But you're hungry.
Is that why you're starving?Yeah, starving.
But you know, but I still I'm also ableto do a 48 hour or a 72 hour fast.
Right.
And just have plenty of electrolytes, lots of water, lots of,
you know, black coffee.
And it keeps me full.
(18:38):
It really does. Yeah.
You know, and I have always fasted,
and when I say a fasted, it doesn't meanI said, oh, I'm going to fast
the day after Thanksgiving, that Friday.
I just don't want to eat. Right.
I don't want the leftovers.
I'm probably because I've beenin the kitchen for days making it right,
you know, and then I'll probably go backlike on Sunday
(19:00):
and, you know, finish upsome stuff that I liked.
But your desserts are like the best to me.
Whenever you set me up of dessertsand I bring them home.
Now you'remy guinea pig. I send home to eat.
And my other half is always saying,I love Joyce.
I, I, you know, I.
Love Joyce,
I hate Joyce, you know, like the cartoonswith the angel and the devil on one side.
Yeah, I love Joyce, I hate Joyce.
(19:21):
That's most of the people I know. But. Oh.
Yeah, well, man.
But the whole thing is just to be smartabout that.
And be intentional.
You know, before you go out to thatfamily outing, enjoy yourself.
Remember, it's just one day.
Just try not to make the one dayturn into 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 a week.
Yeah, because that's what happens. Time.
People will say, you know what, I'm
(19:43):
going to just eat through the holidays, and then come January I'll hit the gym.
But why?
Why put yourself through that?
Hit the gym? Yes, by all means. But,
just do things a little easier, slower.
And what we were just talking about, you know, there's like this
three byte thing to just take three bites,2 or 3 bites or chew.
(20:04):
Chew longer before you longer.
Hydrate more.
I'm guilty of not hydrating more.
I need a. Couple glasses of waterbefore you eat.
Yes, that helps a lot because it gives youthe sense of being full.
In most times when people are hungry atnight, it's because they're bored, right?
They've been on all day and they're bored.
They're watching TV, reading a book,listening
to a podcast, watching a podcast, and then they just eat.
(20:26):
And I've been guilty of that.
It's like you get in frontof the refrigerator and my wife's, why?
In front of the refrigerator?
It's just a habit at night.
So just like you say, give it some time.Think about it.
Have a glass of water
or have a seltzer water, which Ilike a lot because it's filling me first.
Fills me more than water,
and then I can go backand do what I'm doing, and I feel better.
Yeah, because you want to go to sleepon an empty stomach if you can.
(20:49):
And because your, your body doesa lot of its repair when you're sleeping.
Oh, absolutely.
The last thing you want to dois sleep on a, on a full stomach.
You you keep getting up and and thenext morning you wake up, it's like,
then you got to go to work. Yeah.
And you got to be on your best behaviorand a good mood.
It's hard to be that way.
You know? That's a good point.
Yeah, because if you get on a routineof not eating after, like,
(21:12):
I don't eat after 7:00 at night,you don't need after 8:00 at night.
When you get in a routine of doing that,
you don't have to think about your bodyand just do that.
Yeah, maybe.
Thank you. Yes.
The first few nights might be like, you're hungry, but it passes
if you go do something else.
Like you said, tell me againwhat you drink with the cider.
(21:33):
Like what is the combination?
Okay, so I'll get the Bragg's apple cidervinegar.
Bragg's is a great.This is a great brand. Yes.
And I'll get that.
And I'll take a tablespoon.
Put it in my glass.
You know, like halfway.
Whole full glass. A full glass of water.
Because you want to keep everythinggoing overnight.
Some people say, oh,if I drink too much water,
I get up in the middle of the nightand do this. Yeah, yeah.
(21:54):
I mean, you got to keep your body righthydrated.
Won't get the toxins out.
But then I'll have a, you know, just a little tablespoon of the apple
cider vinegar and just, you know, just especially after I have a big meal.
So basically it's that that actsalmost like
why people use it to drink Alka-Seltzer,things like that.
And this is.
Yeah, this is the natural.
Juice controls your blood sugar.
(22:15):
But you do that every night,no matter what.
Every night.
Okay.
That's what I wasn't sure about, is it'snot because you eat a big meal.
No, I.
Just do that. Every night.
I'm just a big fan of that.
I'm a big fan of eating our own, drinkingolive oil.
Right. Tablespoon of the.
I'll splurge on the right olive oilbecause I'm worth it.
And so are you.
We're all worth it.
Do you do a tablespoonevery day? Every day.
(22:38):
But I usually load the whole purpose, offood is to put olive oil on it.
I put olive oil and everything generouslybecause it's an anti-inflammatory.
It's so good.
The health benefits of a great don'tyou don't get like, the stuff that you get
at a typical restaurant that they serve, where a lot of that stuff is watered down.
Not every restaurant, but some of the ones I've been to.
(22:58):
But I will splurge on a good olive.
Oil, a really good olive.
Oil, and also salt.
Table salt is really bad for you, right?
There's no nutrients in it.Get Celtic salt.
Yeah CFL it'slike the best salt in the market.
It's got like 77 nutrientsand it's one of the best supplements.
It's like nature's form of creatinethat you can put in your body.
(23:20):
So you
do the olive oil and on its own.
I mean I'll drink it on its own,but I, I have a big salad
and I just pour the olive oil on it,
the really good olive oil, because you need healthy fat.
Yeah.
People say, oh, you don't want to puttoo much fat, I'm going to get fat.
No. In order for you to lose fat,you need to eat more fat.
(23:43):
I get most of my calories from fat.
Good fat, good fat.
We're not talking about the linesand everything right.
It's salmon avocado which is probablythe most perfect food on the planet.
You know a lot of,I eat a lot of red meat.
I know you don't, you know, enjoys. And you do whatever you need to do.
You're a vegan. Vegetarian.
You can still get your protein out.Read about it. Yeah.
(24:04):
So I respect what people do,but works for me, though, is a lot of meat
because it's an anti-inflammatory.
And I need the good fat.
I'll eat the fat from the rib eye.
But I also loves fish.
You know, a lot of,salmon, walnuts, avocados.
Like we said before, olive oil. Excuse me.
He reminded mewhen my mother had a heart attack at 52,
(24:27):
and, well, the doctor gave her,
you know, alist of things to eat every day.
And it was two tablespoonsof olive oil on your food,
no matter where you put it,on your vegetables, on your fish,
but not put it right, but not fried in a pan.
Yeah, right.
It's just pure olive oil.
(24:47):
Just pour it on there.
And boy did she start looking great.
Great for your skin.Oh my God, look at you.
You're 120.
Listen. Listen to. Him.
I'm the same age as Moses.
When he walked up the mountainand he was like,
strong as a horse when he went up to.
That's rightabove the amount of the. Yeah.
That's right. Moses. Yeah,
yeah.
Moses and I were good buddies, right?
(25:10):
When he when he had a hard timeholding up the stick.
The part, the red, a Cadillac, a new drug. Oh.
And I was there.
I would believe that you're ageless.
Absolutely. Age.
As are you, my friend.
Well, I mean, I love you sharing about.
You know what you eatand what you do because you really do
take care of that body, which is our only vehicle.
(25:33):
The thing is, I mean.
When I use to train people to Joyce,
I say it's a lot easier to stay in shapethan get in shape. Yes.
You know, the whole thing is like,
at this stage of my life, when I'm working out to.
It's all about functionality, right?
You I don't care about lifting
the heavy weights anymoreand everything at this stage.
Right now, I just want to be functional.
I want to be healthy, to do the podcastwith you, to have a great life
with my wife, to be able to go out thereand do what I do in radio or deejaying
(25:55):
or whatever it may be, right, and take the best possible supplements.
Well, that's it.
It's all about feeling great ratherthan looking great or fitting in to,
for women, you know, likefitting into a size six pants or whatever.
It's more about feedyour body what it needs.
You know, if you can't really exerciseor join a gym walk
(26:19):
because, you know, with my back injury,I learned this
from the natural past doctorwhen I really couldn't do much,
she said, well, walk in your house, just keep walking so don't.
Go up and down the stairs.
Well, you know the downstairs area that I have.
That's right.
So I justI just walk until I could get my pace
(26:40):
a little faster and I that's what I did.
So you you always have the abilityto do something.
You know, like when you wake up in the morning
before I get out of the bedfor ten minutes, I'm basically,
you know, massaging my face, massaging the back of my neck for 30s
to get the blood to the brainbehind my ears.
You know, like this.
(27:01):
When I do this, I'm doing, I exercises.
I call themTai pushups every every morning like this.
And then going around like thisevery morning.
And then I flex my calvesbecause that helps people.
They say
avoid like, blood clotsbecause you have like a second brain.
Yeah. Second brain hereand also down in your calves.
So going up like this rotating my my feet.
(27:24):
Oh I'm going to do that.
I get up and I do balance exercises.
And if you have a hard time at homehold hold something.
But just kind of yes, hold your leg up the can.
Because when people are over 60,especially
the most injuries happenbecause they lose their balance, right.
So you've really got to do the balance,do some push ups.
And if you have a hard time doing them,do it with your knees on the floor right.
(27:46):
And do push ups, you know, take some cans and do some bicep.
Yeah. You could always grab something to do.
But the thing with the calves, I'm so gladyou said that because I do remember
I had had, a surgery years ago,and the first thing they do is
put those inflatable things on your legsto keep your calves moving because.
Because of blood clotting. Right?
Or when people are on airplane, they tell you, get up,
(28:08):
you know, go to the bathroom, walka little bit because of that.
But I'll do I'll do leg raises in bed.
I'll just
have my legs go both sides like thisleg raises up and down type of exercise.
But just, you know, rubbingunderneath my body, underneath my armpits.
That's for the lymphnodes. The lymph nodes.
Which is really, really important.
And you got to take your goingto get that blood flow in your body
(28:31):
and it gives you the energy.
Then I'll get upand I'll do 15 20 minutes of tai chi. Wow.
So just a lot of like, you know, movement.
Okay, I think I want a camera on youin the morning.
You don't want to show people. What would be great.
Yeah.
Wait, so if we did that at a partyand you're doing that in the corner,
everyone would stay away from you.
Isn't that guys crazy? Away from meanyway?
Yeah. No, it's him.
(28:51):
Go. Yeah, I go to the coffee shop.
Is like Moses once again.
Yeah. No.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, so we hope we gave you some hacks.
I knowI had that on there about the three.
And this is actually from a cardiologistthat I was, you know, took notes on.
And I was trying to think what elsethey had said.
(29:12):
Whole thing.
I mean, the big thing is sugar,
cancer feeds on sugar.
We can't say that enough.
And I'm a sugar freak myself,so I keep that to an absolute minimum.
But especially the processed foods.
Yeah, that stuff just is.
It is a killer, and it's hard to avoid that stuff.
I know with the holidays upon us and,but just please, I mean, I just caution
(29:32):
you, please be real careful with sugarfrom a guy that binge over Halloween.
I know, but, but that's morethe exception than the rule.
But just try to be really cognizant ofwhat you're putting in your body culture.
Yes, you've got to treat your body.
Mindful eating, mindful eating.
And the other thing is, don't feel guiltyif you go off of it.
(29:53):
Don't feel guilty because tomorrow, the next hour is a new time.
So you can always change it.
And a lot of people that I worked withthat were,
really obeseand they started losing weight.
They said they knew they were on the righttrack when they gained 10 pounds,
and they stopped it and they went back
(30:14):
rather than what they used to dois saying, I can't lose weight.
This 10 pounds is never going away.
And they continued, continue, continued.
So you're already blown it.Let me keep going. Right?
So be more mindful.
You can do this.
You just eat less. You're going to feel better.
And give yourself grace.
Yeah. Self grace.
You know a lot of times where easyto give other people grace than ourselves.
So if you kind of fly off things, that'sall right.
(30:35):
You're human, right? Human.
We all do it, you know,we all make mistakes.
We all go off diet.
So just cut yourself some slackand then start again the next day.
But, we appreciate you, you know?Yes we do.

You knowlike he says it's just an accident.
