(00:00):
Betty White, dude.
The two of them.
Come on.
Yeah, the two of them together.
Like those two.
Yes.
They steal the movie.
Where.
Where are your boobs?
I'm sure they're in there.
Yeah, Betty White's funny as.
Dude.

(00:22):

Tell a friend about us.

(00:42):
Tell a family member about us.
Tell a an aspiring editorabout us.
Or a ruthless boss about us.
Maybe be careful about.
Never mind.
I'll stop there.
I'm just gonna say maybe becareful about telling Canadians about
us right now.
But, you know, bring it on, Canada.
I still love our Canadian neighbors.

(01:05):
Yeah, there it is.
We're kicking off a new monthin April.
It is chick flicks.
I think, for lack of a betterlabel, I think we're trying to go
raunchy.
But I'm the only one that putraunchy on the list.
Hold up.
And one of them did get picked.
The one I wanted really to getpicked didn't get picked because

(01:27):
I was like, I couldn't wait tohave you guys.
This is.
This is the month of be right.
Chickbook movies is what Tate said.
There you go.
I don't think that's theofficial title.
It's Alex month.
That's fair.
It was Alex choice.
That's how we ended up withchick flicks.
But to kick off April in ChickFlick Month, we're starting with
the Proposal.

(01:49):
It was released June 19, 2009.
It was written by PeterChiarelli, directed by Ann Fletcher,
stars Sandra Bullock, RyanReynolds, Mary Steenbergen, Craig
T.
Nelson, Betty White, DennisO'Hare, Malin Ackerman, Oscar Nunez,
and Michael Norrie.
It is about a New York editor,Margaret, who faces deportation.

(02:13):
She convinces her assistantAndrew to marry her in return for
a promotion.
However, when she visits hishometown, it changes her in many
ways.
That was really good start.
And then the synopsis went atthe end.
So not untrue, but kind of lame.
This one's not my pick.
Who's was this that Matson pick?
This is a fucking Matson pick.

(02:33):
Tell us why Matson.
Tell us.
Oh, the Proposal.
Or is this a Taylor pick?
I knew it would make her happybecause this is a movie that she
really enjoys.
Ironically enough, when wewatched it the other day on Monday,
she fell asleep and didn'twatch, like, a single bit of it.
Wow.
Wow.
This is a movie that I justknow, like, a lot of people have
seen it.

(02:54):
It's a.
It's.
I mean, it's got RyanReynolds, Sandra Bullock, like, a
lot of star power from acomedic perspective.
I'm not, like, in love withthis movie or any stretch of the
means.
Like, I wish we would have hadmean girls on here.
I'll go to the woodshed.
I love that movie.
Having watched this movieagain, I don't know, I just don't

(03:15):
think I like Ryan Reynolds allthat much.
And it just wears on me.
And I've watched this movieand was kind of just disappointed.
It's fair.
Alec, what do you think aboutthe proposal?
I think I have an idea basedon your comments, but.
So this is a weird one becausethis is like the very first chick

(03:37):
flick I saw.
Really?
With a girl.
Oh, okay.
Like, not with Javier or withmy sister.
Like with a girl.
And I didn't like it.
But there's.
There's funny moments.
Right?
And so this is where I thinksomeone should have told Ryan Reynolds,

(03:58):
hey, stop.
I love, like, over the topRyan Reynolds.
But his earlier stuff, likethe Van Wilders is where I'm like,
that's peak Ryan Reynolds.
Someone should have said, pumpthe brakes a little bit.
Stay.
Stay where you're at.
You got a good thing going.
Because it just spins out of control.

(04:19):
But for me, it's just.
It's a great idea that justturns stupid.
And so I.
There's.
There's like two lines in thismovie that I enjoy.
And it's Christmas in a cupthat I will say all the time for

(04:42):
no reason whatsoever.
Yeah.
And then the sarcastic, youknow, congratulations, I'm 100 years
old.
When, like, Sandra Bullock isclimbing down the ladder when they're
first get to Alaska andthey're going on the boat.
And like, those two things arejust lovely.
Ryan Reynolds and being asarcastic form.
But outside of that, I'm like this.

(05:05):
I mean, the best part of thismovie outside of that is Oscar Nunes.
Betty White, dude.
Between the two of them.
Come on.
Yeah, the two of them together.
Like, those two.
Yes.
They steal the movie.
Where.
Where are your boobs?
I'm sure they're in there.
Betty White's funny as dude.
But yes, Oscar DZ is just as funny.

(05:25):
Like he.
Yes, it's like, it's.
It's that kind of thing wherewe talked about last month with Kevin
Costner, right?
He's not the best person inany of his sports movies.
And that's what I feel aboutthe proposals.
Like Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock.
No, thank you.
Do the proposal again.
But like you said Betty Whiteand Oscar Nunes, like that would

(05:48):
have been hilarious.
So.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thanks, Matthew.
What was hard for me, RyanReynolds at times, like when he,
some of his sarcastic stuffdoes land, but then when he's trying
to be like, like actuallynormal or serious or emotional, like
sometimes it's hard for me toget a read on.

(06:09):
Like, is that the emotion I'msupposed to be feeling?
Because it still has like thesame type of delivery when he's like
telling her to shut up andexpressing his feelings or actually
coming to the realization thathe's in love with her.
I just, I didn't really findit to be believable.
And yeah, this is a chickflick and it's kind of outlandish
but like the movie wants youto believe that.

(06:29):
But I'd like just the way thathe delivers it.
Never really felt it.
And then I think obviouslywe've seen Sandra Bulk in other movies.
She's a great actor, clearly.
I mean she's got accolades forit, but they made her so like boss
lady, straight laced.
And then they tried to chipaway at that.
But I never felt like it wasreally as effective and believable

(06:50):
as this movie needed it to beto actually make the outlandish.
Hey, we're, we're going tostay together.
Even though I hate this ladyfor the past three years.
I don't know if I got an.
They tried to do it in thatbedtime scene of when she shared
some of those facts and things.
You're like, oh, this is theirmoment where they start the click
and you're like, okay.
But you're like, this is not.

(07:11):
You need like 10 more scenesof this if we're like to chip away
at that.
But you knew it wasn't goingto happen because it's.
They got to do it in a weekend.
I don't know, I just didn't.
I knew it was supposed to befar fetched and outlandish, but it
just never really landed.
But there's some parts like that.
I mean the naked scene, likeif you don't think Alec, if you didn't
think that was funny.

(07:31):
That part makes me laugh justbecause I.
That's the thing I rememberthe most is I'm just hitting each
other like two beached whales.
Like, I love that.
But just I wanted to like thismovie and I've seen it A few times,
but forever, whatever it wasthis time, like, maybe it's because
Tay was asleep, but I just, Iwasn't feeling it as much as I.

(07:54):
I've laughed at in the past more.
But I don't know, I thinkmaybe it's one too many times with
Ryan Reynolds and just beingkind of annoyed with Sandra Bullock
being so straight laced and Iknow she can be funnier and wishing
they wrote her to have alittle bit more of that.
Yeah, I, I love Ryan Reynolds.

(08:16):
I think he's hilarious.
But I do think he's betterwhen he's uncorked.
When they're not trying to geta PG13 rating.
Ryan Reynolds lives in.
In crass, rude mode.
And that's really where he isat his best.
I will say I don't hate this movie.

(08:37):
My biggest beef with thismovie is they spend too much time
on his family drama than theydo on their.
These two's relationship.
And everything that has to dowith their relationship once they
hit Alaska has more to do withhis family dynamics and how this
is impacting that than it doesthem getting together.
And so, like, that's where Iget to the end and I'm like, and

(08:59):
this.
The shitty ass line.
Like, I hate it.
Where it's like, margaret, will you marry me because I want
to date you.
I'm like, you like, what ashitty line.
But, like, I overall don'thate the movie.
I just think they focused, they got lost on the wrong things
because you have.
And I get why they did.

(09:19):
You have Betty White, you hadCraig T.
Nelson, you have some seriousactors playing his family and previous
friends that go along withthese two, a list leading people.
But to Matt's point, like, ifI get to the end and I'm supposed
to believe that they're goingto go through the process, the true

(09:40):
process of an immigrationsituation, which I have a friend
that went through.
And it is not funny or easy at all.
Like, it's quite intrusive and shitty.
So it's like watching thatplay out as comedic relief and then
they go through all this stuff.
I'm like, I would have beenmore impressed if she'd have been

(10:01):
like, I'm just gonna go backto Canada.
I'll see you in a couple yearsor a year or whatever it is.
And then he has a reconnectionwith his family and maybe opens like
a book publisher, small bookpublishing shop in Alaska or something.
You know what?
I.
That to me would have beenmore of a.
An interesting swing than theending of him like crashing back

(10:25):
in the office and asking herto marry him.
So I just.
It just doesn't.
I don't buy it because theydidn't put in the work for their
relationship.
To me, like, it was more aboutrebuilding his family relationship
than building theirs.
So that.
And she's annoying.
Is.
I love Sandra Bullock.
She's one of my favoriteactresses, period.

(10:47):
But she annoys her character.
Annoys the.
Out of me in this movie.
Except when she's dancing inthe woods with Betty White, because
that shit's.
I lose my.
Every time when she gets intoit and starts singing Windows to
the wall.
To the window, dude.

(11:08):
Wow.
And Betty White's just like, yeah, feel it.
What the.
Are you talking.
It's funny.
You like that scene, Jake is.
That felt like so justhodgepodged in.
Was like, this feels so randomthat this is happening right now.
But I.
I get why.
Because they were trying toshow that there was a time in her
life when she did let looseand was like, not a robot.

(11:29):
But I was like, this is justan odd way to show that.
And I think I connect with ittoo, because that's.
I'm that kind of person that, like, on paper and like, in.
In the moment, like, I'm not, like, gonna do stupid like that,
but then the right.
Just the right amount of peerpressure, and I'm the first guy to

(11:50):
be like, I'll do it.
I don't care.
Because I have no real shame.
It's about whether or not Iwant to do it or whether or not I
don't want to do it.
And if you can turn that dialon me to where I'm in the middle
or on the do it side, I'mprobably going to do something for
the entertainment value of itmore than anything else.
So watching her go throughthis, where she's like, I'm not dancing.

(12:11):
And then she just keeps.
Like, Betty White grandmakeeps getting her, and she's like,
finally, she's like.
Starts feeling it and doingit, and I'm like, yeah, I could see
myself doing that.
So.
So, like, that's why thatscene gets you.
Because, I mean, I'd be theidiot out there doing that and then
finally getting into it andlooking around and be like, well,
I forgot you guys were here, because that's just how I am.

(12:33):
And I should not be tellingAlec things like that because he's
gonna start ramping up thepeer pressure now on Weird, and I'll
do it.
I'm.
I'm right there with you.
Just ask my friends I've done some.
Dumb stuff, but I will do itevery time almost.
Unless it's going to causesevere harm to someone else myself.
Fine, someone else, not so much.

(12:55):
But I just like Taylor'sHallmark movies and they're all like
cut from the same cloth and everything.
But at least they're all thesame premise.
Some someone lives in the bigcity and they come home to the small
town and they're, they werefriends in high school and someone
is like, owns a hotel or aninn that's struggling and they come
help.
But even the far fetched stufflike, of that, I'm like, well, they

(13:19):
had prior history.
They have a reason to be backin this place.
They like the things that line up.
Even it feels weird to say thelines of more in a harmonic movie
than this movie where they'rethe suspension of disbelief.
You're always supposed to kindof do that and shift like a little
bit because things have tohappen a little bit faster.
I just feel like they tried tojust be a little too in your face

(13:41):
to say this is going to happenliterally over a week.
And you're like, all right, come on.
He's literally typing out tothe office that what, like it is
here, whatever.
Like you know, the, the beasthas landed or whatever they were
saying.
And you're telling me threedays later that he loves her.
That's where I was just like, you could have still done all of

(14:01):
this but stretch the timelineor at least maybe started the movie
where there was tendencies oflike he, he hates her.
But there's also smallglimpses of like he's like, wow,
like okay, she did this orthat and given me more to go off
of and then go to that weekend.
But it just felt like it wastoo much too fast.

(14:23):
See, that part actuallydoesn't bother me too much because
like Oshi and I, when we firstmet, we worked together and she tried
to get my ass fired like threetimes in the first week.
And then just like some sortof light switch went off when we
started spending a little bitmore time together at work, that
started the ball rolling.

(14:44):
So the, like, it's thespending time together.
I was like, okay, I get it.
You know, when you create thisdifferent circumstance of now we're
in close quarters becausethey, they have that history and
background from three yearsjust not in the right situation.
But yeah, so.
So that part doesn't bother metoo much because I'm also like, yeah,

(15:05):
my wife tried to get my assfired and it's like her biggest claim
to Fame.
And it's so.
It's like I.
I could kind of see it.
I mean, she probably don't like.
Right?
Oh, no, she was 100.
Right.
Like, there's no.
There's no question about that.
But it's like, why the.
You change your mind?
Like, I didn't change.
Yeah, you changed.

(15:27):
The perception changed.
Yes, something along those lines.
So it's not too big of astretch for me, considering the circumstances.
But it.
It's also just such a smallpart of what I don't like about this
movie.
What's the big part that youdon't like?
Is it just Ryan Reynolds orlike the.

(15:48):
No, because I like Ryan Reynolds.
It's just a whole stupid ass story.
It's fair.
It's fair.
And the line about sleepingyour way into middle management,
that hit home.
A.
Little too close to comfort.

(16:09):
Yeah, that's fair too.
I do like that part, though, when she fires that dude and he just
melts down.
That shit's.
And she's telling, don't do it.
Don't come out of your office.
Don't do it, Bob.
No, I like that.
I.
That's.
And I think maybe that's where my.
Because I don't.
I don't know.
Like, I'm so torn with thismovie because there's moments of

(16:33):
this movie that I really enjoy.
Like, there's parts like thestripper part.
Hilarious.
The dancing in the woods, hilarious.
The guy losing his at thebeginning, hilarious.
The moment when he's telling.
They're telling the INS dudethat they're going back to visit
his family for Grammy'sbirthday, Gammy's birthday.

(16:58):
And she's.
He's like, Sitka.
Yeah, Sitka.
Alaska.
Alaska.
Like, those little moments, like, there's tons of them where,
like, I laugh and it.
They're great writing inlines, but I'm with you too, Al.
Like, the whole thing togetherfeels like patchwork.

(17:19):
Like, they didn't.
It feels.
And it.
I guess I mentioned itearlier, it feels like two different
stories pushed together into one.
And so I get a little whiplashmaybe through the movie.
And then there's parts, like, where I'm just not interested at
all.
And the sad part is most of the.
I'm not interested is the.
That they're doing in therelationship building parts.

(17:42):
I'm like, I don't care about that.
Like, I just want to see theweird, funny, like an eagle trying
to steal a dog, like, and herthrowing her phone at it or whatever
the hell is your shoe or what.
They're just moments that are hysterical.
But overall I'm like, it's allright, I guess.
Feel like there's some poorlywritten pieces too.

(18:03):
That's basically how I feelthrough all of it.
Yeah.
Well said.
Yeah.
But I did like how they wereexplaining when they first got.
And how they got engaged like that.
That I put yourself in theirshoes about, like, what would I say
on the fly that would soundbelievable enough and position me
in a good light?

(18:24):
But I love that that part was funny.
And that's where I thinkSandra Bulk, actually, they allowed
her to be more of, like, whatyou've seen her in other movies where
they're that comedic back and forth.
That part was funny.
I was like, oh, they're.
I love this.
They're trying to one up eachother and make them look better than
the other person.
Like, Ryan Reynolds cuts.
And he's like, you're notabout to make me look like.

(18:47):
Like the most feminine, nonmasculine guy.
Like, I giggled during allthat because I was like, man, I put
myself in my.
That my shoes with that.
That would be a little intense.
And like, what would I say?
Like, what would I come upwith on the flag?
Because, you know, everyone'sglued to that conversation.
Everyone wants to know.
Oh, yeah.

(19:07):
And I don't love the nakedscene when they come together, but
I laugh my ass off when she'sstuck in the bathroom trying to get
a towel and this little cute, fluffy, puffy puppy is what's blocking
her.
Gets out the hot, the dry or whatever.
She's like, I got you now.

(19:27):
Or whatever.
And he's like, oh, you like that?
Yeah.
And the fact that she's like, first comes out, she's standing there,
like, covering her with onearm and her hands down, covering
her, like, she's like talkingto this dog.
Like, shoot, let me out.
I just need to get a towel.
That makes me laugh.
And then the instant when theyrun into each other is funny.
But I think the setup for thewhole thing of them running, it took

(19:50):
too long because, like, youstart to see he's out on there pissed
and getting undressed, andshe's around with the dog.
And I was just like, we knowwhat's gonna happen.
But I want to see her aroundwith this dog more.
But that's just me.
But that part did make me laugh.
And then when they're singing,It Takes Two when he started.

(20:11):
That's because that grew upwith that song.
So I, yeah, I had a good time.
When they start busting thatone out, it's good times, but, yeah,
there's great moments.
But overall, I'm like.
Not to sidetrack us, but how you.
What do you guys think aboutthis whole Ryan Reynolds situation
that's playing out in themedia right now?

(20:32):
Because he's certainly notlooking very good.
You know, what's going on?
I don't pay attention to.
I was gonna say I don't.
I think I know, but I don'tthink I.
Tell me more because I thinkI've just heard shades of it.
I'll have to give a verybrief, quick synopsis, but basically,
there's a movie that came outrecently called It Ends With Us.

(20:54):
It's based on a book.
It's about.
And it stars his wife.
It doesn't even star Renault.
Ryan Reynolds had.
Wow.
Oh, yeah.
It says.
And didn't she get like.
Yeah, I think I know wherethis is going.
Yeah.
And the co star, who's alsothe writer director, there was a
bunch of accusations thatthere was some serious ugly going

(21:15):
on on set with, like, sexual harassment.
Yeah, yeah.
Things like that.
And so it came out that BlakeLively, Ryan's wife, was like, the
victim of all this.
Really?
And some of it sound like whenyou first hear about it, you're like,
that sounds terrible.
Like, yeah, that's bad.
And then he comes out and he'sgot, like, text messages and receipts

(21:35):
and of like, she was actuallythe aggressor.
And this weird.
And the fact that RyanReynolds comes in and he, like, wrote
a bunch, like, he rewrote someof the story in the back end and
then it got forced in it.
So there's.
This is a whole thing.
Well, there's a lot of comingout now where everybody thought it

(21:56):
was a.
Blake Lively was the victim ofthis guy.
And this guy has like, a podcast.
He's a huge feminist.
I say it in air quotes becausewho knows what the actual definition
of a feminist is anymore.
But, like, he has his podcastand he's, you know, female forward
feminist type thing.
And then all this shitty stuffwas coming out about him.
And then they come to find outthat, like, Ryan Reynolds portrayal

(22:19):
of Nice Pool is allegedly, like, making fun of this guy because
night the Deadpool movie wasbeing filmed after it ends with us.
And so, like, all of hisportrayal of Nice Pool was took,
supposedly him taking shots atthis guy from this other movie.

(22:42):
So everybody's now is like.
And I'm like, we're reallypaying attention all this.
But, like, I don't know, like, maybe he's an actual in Real life.
I.
Casey loves Blake Lively, his wife.
So, like, what.
In as far as acting goes andmovies that she's done, I'm not a
huge fan, but I love RyanReynolds in what he's done.
So I.
I've just been curious, because we don't even talk about

(23:02):
it, because I think based onwhat I've seen and read, the little
bit that I've paid attention,I think Blake Lively started out
with something, thinking shehad the upper hand.
And this guy went, nope.
I kept everything to the pointthat at his own movie, in the premiere,
he's hanging out with hisfamily in the basement of whatever

(23:25):
venue that they did.
Like, they wouldn't even lethim walk the red carpet.
The guy that wrote anddirected this thing.
And.
And again, I don't know what'strue, what's not.
I'm not there.
But based on what I've seen,he's got a lot of.
That makes what she's sayinglook very different.
I just remember, yeah, there's.
They were talking about howshe felt pressured, like some, like.

(23:50):
Like, sexy scene or something.
And, like, they were.
She was getting exploited and, like, needed to show what she was
gonna do.
But then, yeah, those textscame out.
I was like, no, she was theone, like, wanting, like, talking
about it, wanting to show him.
And then people are like, howis that going to reflect back on
Ryan Reynolds?
How's he gonna feel about that?
Like, are they.
Are they together?

(24:10):
Like, is she doing some shady stuff?
I don't remember what came ofthat, but certainly didn't make her
look good.
Yeah, and there was anotherone where she said she alleged that
he burst into her trailer todo some line reading or something,
and she was breastfeeding, like, her baby at the time.
And, like, she was reallyuncomfortable with the fact that

(24:32):
he was.
He just came in, but then hehas text messages from her saying
she's inviting him into hertrailer at the time, that she's.
And, like, even mentions thefact that I'm just feeding the baby
or whatever.
And so it's like, well, whichis it?
Did he barge in or did youinvite him?
Because.
And I.
Look, I am also of the beliefthat text messages can be fabricated,

(24:57):
depending on.
So I don't know.
Like, you know, I don't thinkwe'll ever really know unless it
goes to trial.
But, yeah, anyway, I.
But there's a lot of ugly.
And look, I'm also of thebelief that most of Hollywood's a
bunch of ugly.
I think it's just ripe for Problems.
And we've seen millions ofsituations like that.
But I don't know.

(25:18):
I've always thought RyanReynolds was, like, maybe a little
different because he seemslike kind of a serious dude in real
life, but also seems like hedoes some cool, nice guy, like the.
Soccer team and all that.
Yeah.
But can that.
That can also be construed and.
And edited to make it look.
The only guy that I know isreally good is Keanu Reeves.
Is always time and time andtime and time again.

(25:39):
Prov.
He's just like a dude.
Yeah.
I've never heard anyone orseen anything that says otherwise
on Keanu Reeves.
But yeah, he's.
He's never stepped in it.
But I think you said it best.
For me, the reason I didn'treally dive into it.
It's same thing about, like, politics and just the news in general.
It's all just depressing andthe world's going downhill and, like,
I could depress myself everyday, or I could just have to absolutely

(26:03):
pay attention when theyabsolutely have to pay attention.
Yeah.
That's just interesting to mebecause I didn't know any of the
story either.
But I do know that RyanReynolds is like, a marketing genius.
Everything that he's done fromWrexham to Mint Mobile Aviation Gin,
like.
And so part of me almost issitting there going there.

(26:25):
He's got to have some sort ofangle with what he's doing.
Yeah.
I don't see him gettinghimself backed into a corner like
this, knowing what I knowabout him, if that makes sense.
Well, and he utilized it.
So Saturday Night Live justhad their, like, 50th year anniversary
episode a few weeks back.

(26:46):
So they had all these massivestars show up, and he was in the
audience with Blake Livelysitting next to him.
And apparently they rehearsedthe line where whoever was given
the monologue at the time saidsomething to Ryan Reynolds and then
asked how he was doing andthen something else and whatever.
But they rehearsed it acertain way.
And then he made it differentin the live version because they

(27:08):
asked him to stand up.
So he stands up, they'resaying something.
I don't remember what it was,but the guy's like, how are you doing?
And he's like, I'm great.
Have you heard something?
You know what I mean?
Like, and.
And you could see Blake golike, the are you doing?
And I was like, ruh, Ron.

(27:28):
So to your point, like, heobviously is using it to make comedy
in Saturday Night Live and Idon't know, maybe to twist it up,
but you're right.
Like, he's not the guy I wouldwant to go up against in a publicity
battle most of the time.
Now, Blake Lively's got a lotof rumors that she's difficult to
work with, but I, up untilthat point hadn't heard much as far

(27:51):
as difficulty with Ryan Reynolds.
Purdy can be a dick, butthat's because he wants to be right.
And he does.
JJ's out here reading Peoplemagazine everywhere.
The thing is, I have it.
I have no interest in this, but Casey's so obsessed with Blake
Lively and she likes this, this, it ends with us movie and the

(28:12):
movie.
And I told her the other day, like, it's not a bad movie.
And the, the material is,it's, it's.
She falls in love with thisguy that is not overtly abusive,
but he's abusive, right?
And, and there's this wholepattern of her breaking the.
It ends with us like cycle or whatever.

(28:33):
And I want the movie to besuccessful because I think it's great
content and it should beaddressed and talked about.
But to me, I told Casey, I waslike, the problem is, you know, she'll
talk about the fact that thisguy's, all the rumors that this guy's
a piece of.
And I'm like, regardless ofanything that's happened, if he did
all these things, then yes, something needs to happen.
If he, if she did all thesethings, something needs to happen.

(28:55):
But the problem is, is themessage of this movie is now lost.
Like it means nothing.
And so I've been looking intoit because she's so into it and like,
is very one sided because ofwhat she likes about Blake Lively.
And I'm like, so now I hear.
But I, you know, tick tockcomes up and all these media pundits

(29:16):
are like, oh, this guy got heron this one.
And I'm like, jesus Christ.
Are we really, like trying tocompare who got who?
Like, can't we just let thetruth come out?
But anyway, I was just curiousif you guys had heard because now
anything that has RyanReynolds or Blake Lively, I'm like,
it's a little bit taintedright now.
So anyway, there it is.

(29:38):
Not much to talk about, this movie.
Let's rate it.
Yeah, I'm gonna give it a twoand a half.
I think there's a lot to be entertained.
Some great actors, some goodbit pieces.
There's far worse things youcould watch.
There's far worse chick flicksthat you could watch.

(29:59):
I think this is a movie.
The more people you watch itwith, like, you're definitely gonna
have some spots you laugh atif you haven't seen it.
As far as chick flicks go, Ithink you'll have a good enough time
watching it.
Will I watch this movie again?
I'm sure it'll be on at some point.
And this is one of thosemovies, especially if it used to
be in the day and age of tvwhen I used to see a lot of things
on there, certain scenes, ifit was on, I'd be like, oh, yeah,

(30:21):
like it's Proposal.
Oh, this could be a funny part.
But there's also so much ofthis movie that can be forgotten
at the same time.
So two and a half for me.
I wanted to like it more thanwhat I remember it, but it just didn't
land as well this time.
Makes sense, Alec.
I'm gonna give it a two.

(30:42):
I.
The.
When I.
When I think, like rom com orchick flick, right, I'm entertained,
and I'm not very entertainedwith Proposal, the Proposal, I get
bored.
And that's like, not equatedto what I'm used to getting when
with this romantic comedy or,you know, a chick flick, as.

(31:03):
I mean, we've done a few ofthem on the podcast.
We did Guilty Pleasures andthen what was the most recent one
with Jennifer Lawrence that wedid a while back?
Like that stuff where it's entertaining.
Chick flicks are nevernecessarily like the best in cinema,
but they're entertaining forthe most part.
In this one, I get bored.

(31:25):
I probably will watch itagain, but I will not search it out,
so I'll get it too.
Fair enough.
I'm actually on the other sideof the spectrum.
I'm giving a three and a half.
I.
I think what makes it.
I've been sweating over it.
I mean, obviously I'm verytorn with this movie, but I think
when it, what it gets right,it gets very right.
And I laugh a lot at thismovie more.

(31:47):
And sometimes I laugh atthings like that.
I'm like, I really don't wantto laugh at this, but I can't help
it because it makes me laughand it's funny.
But then there's the, Like Isaid, there's this piece where I'm
just like, they could havewritten this so much better and still
had it be overall and stillhad those moments that were funny
and maybe make it overall abetter movie.
But there's a lot of placeswhere it struggles.

(32:08):
And I will say, to Madison'spoint, the longer away from the original
watching the first time Iwatched this movie, I Thought it
was one of the funniest thingsI'd ever seen.
But I also really love RyanReynolds and I love Sandra Bullock.
And so I think that was amplified.
The longer it goes, the lessabout this movie that I like.
I still laugh at the staples, but I don't find myself to your point.

(32:31):
Alec entertained the whole time.
Like there's parts I'm like,I'm gonna go grab a snack or a drink,
you know what I mean?
Because I can walk away before something.
The next funny thing actually happens.
So I think that's kind ofwhere I'm at with it.
But it's still, for me, funnyenough that I.
I'm gonna score it a little higher.
I know I'll watch it againbecause again, Casey really enjoys

(32:51):
it.
And it's on our every once ina while playlist where we just need
something that's a little different.
And so it pops up and I watchit and I laugh and wish that I could
go hit golf balls into theAlaska Ocean.
That was dope as.
It's like, what a waste withan island.
That's your green out there.
I'm like, wait a minute, doyou go out and get the.
Because then I would think thehalf the fun would be going in fetching

(33:13):
the balls.
Other than that water has gotto be cold as.
So anyway, I wouldn't be goingto get those balls.
Eco friendly.
Yeah, that's fair.
You get the ones thatdissolve, but I bet those are expensive.
But if you live out there, youdon't give a.
Yeah, so there it is.
Yeah.
Kick off to the chick flickmonth or romantic comedies.
