Yeah. Okay. There we go.
It's, what's the matter with me podcast?
The most important podcast.
The most important,
the most important peopleare listening to it.
(00:23):
The listeners. Yeah.
Thank you for tuning intothe What's the Matter
with me podcast.
My name is John. I'm 44 years old.
Husband, father, smallbusiness owner, radio DJ
podcaster, and I have multiple sclerosis
(00:45):
trigeminal neuralgia.
And I made this podcast toshare what I'm going through.
Ooh. The Atmospheric River.
That's like pointedthat California has been
setting my face a little bit on the fritz.
It's been shocking me.
(01:06):
So I've been having littlebits of trigeminal neuralgia,
but not too bad.
Things are working out.Things are working out for me.
The new shoes
that I got in the lastepisode, what was it?
New shoes, 2K XXIV.
(01:30):
Just had to get that in there somehow.
The new shoes
that I got in the lastepisode are working out.
They're not hurting my feetand making my feet go to sleep.
It gets, it is hard.
I have to put this carbonfiber brace on my foot
(01:51):
and then I have to getthat inside the shoe.
And the shoe doesn't want that.
It wants a regular foot,
so it puts my foot to sleep.
It hurts and, but the newshoes are working out.
They're not putting my foot tosleep. They're not that bad.
(02:12):
I'll take 'em. They don't hurt.
They're made by a company called Drew.
Drew, like you made a drawing in,
uh, some time ago.
You can find them@drewshoe.com.
D-R-E-W-S-H-O e.com.
(02:34):
Drew Shoe drew, it's not Drew Shoes,
it's Drew Shoe.
Maybe they only make one. Let me see.
No, they make more than one style of shoe,
but they're called Drew Shoe.
Drew Shoe working out for me.
This is the music episode.
(02:56):
So that was the lastepisode. The new shoes.
This is the music episode.
Not for any reason,
but that I just go over a bunch of music.
But first the pistachios came out,
but there was one problem.
I couldn't stop eating them.
(03:17):
We'll eat them at theSuper Bowl on Sunday,
I sent out a post about nacho cheese sauce
with hopping hot sauceto the mailing list,
and they were digging it.
My aunt wrote me
and she was like, I'm going tomake them at the Super Bowl.
(03:38):
I'll put it on, what'sthe matter with me org?
But right now I'm writing the post about
roasted spicy pistachios
and I made some cool collages for it.
Just electronic. I'll put it online.
(04:00):
I made a collage of theguy who discovered MSG,
the chemical MS Foundation for MSG,
and he coined the term umami.
His name was Ida. I'll put a picture.
He also founded the company,
(04:22):
aji No Moto in 19 19 0 8.
It's cool. He came upwith umami. I love that.
So my wife was like, I wonder what is,
what are the characters?
What's it made up of?
And so I see the Ji here, you know,
(04:44):
it's pronounced umami.
The word is made up of two parts umami,
which means delicious
and me, which means taste.
So there you go. Umami delicious taste.
Stay tuned for the Hopping Hot sauce.
(05:06):
Post about the pistachios.
Check the collage, check out the Jingle
- Hopping hot sauce.
It's the best hot sauce.Hopping hot sauce.
It's the best sauce in the world.
The world telling you,
(05:27):
- If Sisyphus was alive today,
he could have a podcast.
Check this out. He could havea podcast about going up the
hill and rolling the boulder over.
And Ai, AI would tell Sisyphus
(05:48):
that his podcast was amultifaceted narrative.
Thanks for tuning intowhat's the matter with me?
It helps when I search for stuff,
using my wheelchair, not walking around,
because when I'm in mywheelchair, I can look around.
(06:10):
When I'm walking around,I gotta focus on my cane
and not like biffing
and eating it on the floorwhen that's when I'm walking
with my stick.
But when I'm in thewheelchair, I'm just kind
of like working in joystick.
I'm like forward and I could look around.
(06:32):
I had this epiphany
because I had lost my water all day.
I was walking all aroundthe house trying to find it.
I couldn't find it anywhere.
Then I got in my wheelchair,it started rolling
around the house andI found it right away.
It was on the dining room table.
(06:53):
It wasn't anywhere weird atall. And it was like light.
The light bulb went off.
It helps when I search
for stuff using mywheelchair, not walking.
And what, what is this about? Walking?
This is the wheelchair episode now.
This is the music episode. I got that.
(07:16):
We have the time of ourlives. We have the time.
You know, green Day song, I got that.
We have the time of ourLives Green Day song
stuck in my head.
Good riddance.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
(07:36):
I hope you have the time of your life.
In my mind though, I had that,we had the time of our life
and it was like, I didn't know any
other lyrics.
All I knew was we havethe time of our lives.
Now I googled the lyrics.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
(08:01):
I hope you have the time of your life.
I didn't, I got this. We have this time.
Anyway, I didn't, I got theGreen Day song stuck in my head.
I didn't know the lyrics.
I had the wrong lyrics stuck in my head.

Gotta be looking goodfor selfie time. Selfie.
It's selfie time. It's selfie time people.
Yeah, yeah. It's selfie time.
(09:10):
We have the time of our lives. No, no.
You ha I hope, I hope you had the time
of your life.
That's so un catchy. Of course.
I didn't get that stuck inmy head. It, it would be.
We had the time of our lives. Anyway.
(09:32):
Some, some, uh, info.Green days, good riddance.
Time of your life is one.

and has continued
to be a popular funeral choice ever since
(09:54):
you could have it at your funeral.
Make sure to subscribe and get the selfie
before your funeral.
Yeah. Changes in the weather.
I've been having this pain in my face,
like I'm gonna have a funeral.
It's the atmospheric river
(10:16):
that's pointed at California.
It's just screwing with my face,
like when I eat or whatever.
This is the music episode.Let's get back into the music.
I've gotten into thisartist, John Kilduff.
He's a musician.
(10:36):
His thing is called Let's Paint tv.
And it's a public accessTV show that has become
a YouTube channel.
I saw it first on Instagram, but it's, it's on YouTube
and it's so great.
Let's see. His bio.
(10:57):
John killed off as an artistliving in working in LA
in 1987.
He received his BFA inFine Art in painting
from Otis Parton School of Art
and Design in Los Angeles.
And in 2008, he receivedhis MFA in fine art
(11:21):
painting from UCLA.
He is best known for acable access television show
entitled Let's Paint TV.
In 2006 K up began to upload these videos
to YouTube where Kup became an internet
(11:42):
celebrity soon killed up, performed
live on Tyra vh.
One's big in oh six andAmerica's God Talent.
Season number two clips of Let's Paint TV
have appeared on multipleTV programs as well.
(12:04):
Kil up now does his show Daily Monday
through Friday on the internet
and performs live at variousvenues around the world.
So I didn't know how far back this goes,
but I saw this stuff on Instagram
and then I, I checked it out on YouTube.
(12:24):
I love it. Let's paint tv.
He's just got these great messages.
He's also on band camp with music.
His music is awesome.
It's just recordings ofhis TV show. He kinda jogs.
He, he jogs
(12:44):
and in front of him he hasa little table with, um,
a cacio keyboard
and a kind of noisemachine called a Chaos Pad
or something, like a chaospad and a microphone.
And he says stuff into the microphone.
He bangs on the keyboard
(13:07):
and the chaos pad kind of
feeds back all of that.
And it's kind of, and he jogs
and he like progressivelyhe takes his hat off.
He takes his sweatshirt off.
You know, he jogs
and I'm, I'm into this stuff,so I'll put, I'll put a link.
(13:30):
I, I think it's very listenable.
I've been enjoying the musicand you can watch it as tv.
The TV is good.
My wife is like, putthis off, turn this off.
So, you know, it's good. Check that stuff.
Let's Paint TV by John Kilduff.
(13:52):
Check out the Let's Painttv, YouTube channel.
In the other music news,
I made a ludicrous meme.
You remember Luda?
So the meme is called Mov Birch.
I'll put a link to it.
It, it's got, um, it's twocolors in the background.
(14:16):
Mauve, which is kind of purple
and birch, which is kind of tan
and it has ludicrous from the cover.
He had a saw move
and it, it's, um, so I, the, on the,
on the meme it says, movBirch, get out the way.
(14:38):
So you might be able.
Anyway, I made a meme, amusical meme, Mo of Birch.
I don't know why.
It takes me a long time to kind of,
that one's been percolating for a while.
It's been percolating for quite some time.
The other day, it wasthe Day of Noise on KZSU
(15:03):
on February 3rd, on February 3rd,
it was the Day of Noise.
Live on KZSU Stanford, 90.1 fm.
24 hours of live music from midnight
to midnight on February 3rd.
All things strange and beautiful.
(15:26):
24 hours straight of live experimentation
and improvisation featuringexperimental noise
drone bands
and artists from the Bay Area and beyond.
Aca, SU tribute since the nineties.
(15:46):
This is the 19th day of noise.
And this was great stuff. It was on in the weekend.
I put it on and it kept thekids out of the main room
of the house and kept them in their room
with the door totally firmly shut.
(16:09):
It was great. Usually they're running
through the house tearing stuff up.
And this day they were just cowering
in their rooms quietly.
I loved it. And it wasthe day of noise wasn't,
the noise was just, it wasn't, I,
(16:29):
I said I set the volumeto level two, two out
of 10 the kids did not come, come out.
It was good. That's music stuff.
This is the music episode.
The next day after theDay of Noise, the day
(16:49):
after the day of Noise, mydaughter had a play date
and I think it was kind of,the vibe was still going.
Somehow she had a play date.I was like, what should I do?
I was like, I think I'll play a record.
You know, they were in theirroom doing stuff, making a,
(17:09):
they were making a banjoout of a cardboard box
and rubber bands.
They were a guitar, Iguess, you know, the thing.
So, and I was like, I'll play some music.
My wife was into it, so I picked out
this Auto V Rock record called Escal
(17:33):
Rio, which means cold chills.
And it was like the day ofnoise was still going on.
It was nuts. It has a matmos on it.
And before I put it on, I, Itold my wife it was dance music
and that was like a white lie
(17:53):
that was like the little white lie
that the salesman tells you to get,
get you converted OT von She Rock
it's called, it was dance music, kind of.
It was kind of day of noiseand kind of dance music.
(18:14):
This year, the Ability Expo
isn't happening in the Bay Area
or they haven't, they haven't planned,
they haven't scheduled a date.
So it isn't happening inthe Bay Area this year.
It's happening in Los Angeles, mid-March.
(18:36):
They have the whole thingscheduled out all year.
And I went to one in the Peninsula last,
or like five years ago
and that's when I got my wheelchair.
And it was good. They hadall these vendors in the,
(18:56):
in a big warehouse, youknow, convention area
and they had all these vendorsyou could get hands on.
And so I got a wheelchairthat fit my needs,
but it's kind of one of the aluminum
welds on it has broken.
(19:19):
And so it's like seenbetter days, you know,
and my, we're talkingabout getting another one
and I was like, I wish Icould go to that Ability
Expo and see different wheelchair vendors.
'cause I could reorder, I can get another
(19:41):
of the same wheelchairthat I already have.
But I want to look at what's available.
I want to test drive.
You know, they allowed you totest drive and that's useful.
This is the music episode.
(20:02):
New shoes, pistachios,
Sisyphus searching.
I thought it was, we hadthe time of our lives.
It's you had the time of your life
and it's a popular funeral song.

(20:46):
It's almost Day of Noisealmost dance music.
Matt Most is dance music, right?
Ability Expo isn't happening.
I gotta figure out a new solution
to try stuff on without the sales
and their inventory
(21:06):
