What happens when cutting-edge artificial intelligence meets humanistic healthcare? Aurora Martinez of Keralty unveils a revolutionary approach that's redefining what's possible in global health systems. Unlike conventional healthcare AI applications that focus primarily on efficiency and diagnostics, Keralty's innovative "CHI" ecosystem puts human well-being at the center of technological advancement.

Martinez introduces us to Keralty (operating as Sanitas in the US), a healthcare organization spanning ten countries that has built what she calls a "living lab" – an extraordinarily diverse ecosystem encompassing insurance companies, hospitals, clinics, medical centers, and even a university. This diversity serves as both the foundation and catalyst for their AI innovations. With 50 years of accumulated wisdom, they're transforming knowledge into actionable healthcare solutions that address not just physical health, but loneliness, mental health challenges, and community connection.

What truly distinguishes their approach is the philosophy Martinez eloquently summarizes as "intelligence with a soul." This isn't about replacing healthcare professionals with algorithms, but rather empowering doctors and nurses with AI tools that enhance their ability to deliver personalized, preventative care. The focus remains steadfastly on human connections while using technology to make better, more informed decisions. By combining their extensive living lab with a holistic healthcare model centered on prevention and risk management, Keralty is positioning themselves as agents of change in an industry ripe for transformation.

Ready to explore how artificial intelligence might actually make healthcare more human, not less? Visit keraltycom to learn more about this fascinating intersection of technology and compassionate care, and discover how purpose-driven innovation is reshaping the future of health.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Today, we're exploring how artificial
intelligence is being used notjust to make healthcare smarter,
but more human.
With us today is AuroraMartinez, who's leading one of
the most excitingtransformations in global health
.
Aurora, great to have you here.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Yeah, thank you for having me, it's a pleasure, so
tell us about your company.
Yeah, so my company is Keralty.
Here in the US, we operate alsounder the name of Sanitas and
we are a global healthcarecompany.
We operate in about 10different countries that range,
obviously, from the US toColombia, mexico and a number of

(00:43):
other countries, and we arewell known worldwide because of
our unique health care modelthat focus on prevention, on
risk management and on caringfor people.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
So let's dive in.
Tell us about KAI or K-A-I.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, kai as we like to say it.
Well, kai started with theself-reflection internally that
we had and we saw how rapidlyartificial intelligence was
developing and we thought toourselves what can we do to
apply artificial intelligencenot only internally, but to

(01:18):
become agents of change inhealthcare?
We do believe there is a needfor change.
We believe we are set in abecause of our own makeup.
We believe we can be leaders inthat change and in that
transformation, or revolution aswe like to call it.
And that's how CHI was started.
We like to think of it as anintegrated and holistic

(01:40):
ecosystem.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
And you talk a lot about purpose in your work.
How does that reflect itself inyour day-to-day?

Speaker 1 (01:48):
That purpose is based on the fact that for us, it's
not only about health.
For us it's about well-beingand we want to make sure that
people live well or healthylives, and we want to tackle
those problems that I wastalking about before, like
loneliness.
We want to tackle problems likemental health and we want to

(02:11):
reach well-being.
It's just not about beinghealthy, but being happy and
reaching a good state of lifethat focuses on well-being and
also the community.
So those are like four majorproblems that we want to tackle
and we feel we are A in aposition of leadership to do it
because of our living lab and.
B we believe we have the rightmindset to go for it and we feel

(02:35):
strong that artificialintelligence will allow us to
power through and to get it done.
And we also want to putartificial intelligence in the
hands of our professionals, especially our doctors, our
nurses.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Living lab?
You really don't hear that termmuch in health care, so tell us
a little more about the livinglab.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
The living lab for us is the essence of who we are.
I believe it's the essence ofdiversity.
We are a very diverse companyat all levels.
We have insurance companies, wehave hospitals, we have clinics
, we have medical centers, wehave a university.
We are a living lab.
So it really goes to the heartof who we are and that's why I

(03:19):
refer to it as the essence ofdiversity.
But we are also a product.
Product, and we are a productbecause we have accumulated 50
years of knowledge and wisdomthat we want to transfer into
actionable healthcare solutions.
We are also a system in that weconnect all of those different

(03:39):
stakeholders that I mentionedthat we are known for, and we
are also a platform for openinnovation.
We are well known for ourinnovative way of approaching
healthcare, from that holistic, human center healthcare model
that sets us apart from otherhealthcare entities to the way

(03:59):
that we believe we need tocontribute to healthcare.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Interesting, and how does CHI differ from other AI
use cases today in healthcare?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I think what sets us apart are two things.
One is our Living Lab, theCareLty Living Lab that I
mentioned, and the other one isour unique holistic and
integrated healthcare model thatfocuses on prevention.
We have the tools, we have thepeople.
We have the tools, we have thepeople, we have the will, we
have the drive and we have thesupport of everyone within the

(04:30):
organization to move thisforward.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
And if you had to describe CHI in just a few words
, how would you do it?

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I would describe CHI as intelligence with a soul, you
know throughout.
I hope that the message camethrough that it is about
bringing or using AI to makebetter decisions, but also more
human decisions.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Well, aurora.
Thank you Incrediblyeye-opening and so hopeful.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Thank you.
Thank you, yeah, we are all forit hopeful, thank you.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
