(00:23):
here.
This is the Frank and Squatch show.
Hey, what's up, buddy?
We are back.
We are, we are back.
So thanks everybody that'stuning in tonight.
Me and Squatch, we are back.
We're ready to tell somestories, share some hunts, and get
(00:43):
this party going.
What do you say, buddy?
You know me, buddy.
I'm always ready to go andgetting into the, the huntings and
stuff.
And I just love it, man.
Love it.
Absolutely love it, Love it.
Absolutely.
So, Squatch, why don't you start.
Since you've been hunting morethan I have, tell us what's been
going on in your, in your neckof the woods over there, buddy.
(01:03):
How you been doing?
Well, you know, we got hitwith a warm spell here.
You know, it seems like you'relooking forward to the fall temperatures.
And, you know, you look at theweatherman, they're like, yeah, unseasonably
warm.
Great, great.
It does nothing for Buckmovement, but it's okay.
You know what?
(01:24):
You got to be in it to win it.
I will tell you this.
The super full moon that was out.
It's a little cloudy tonight,so I don't think we're gonna have
much action with that.
But I did stumble upon two bigscrapes today.
And I moved my set and I got afeeling the way that Buck's moving
(01:46):
on camera, I think I'm getting closer.
And with these coldertemperatures coming in, I, I hope
to connect.
I think it's going to be okay.
I think it's a good set.
I got the prevailing winds inmy favor, and, you know, we're gonna
see what happens, man.
I, I, I got a fifth stick.
I, I was using the aider andyou saw when we were hunting together,
(02:09):
you actually, Yep.
Got hurt using my heater.
Unfortunately.
Unfortunately, I've twisted aknee or two in it and that damn thing.
I said, okay, enough of this thing.
I ended up buying just acheap, aftermarket fifth stick off
of Amazon.
I don't even know what thehell the name of it is.
It looked kind of like thetethered ones I got.
I would have bought atethered, but you got to buy them
(02:30):
in packs of four.
And I was just like, nah, I'lljust go to cheap route.
It's going to be my bottom steps.
So having the fifth stick wasnice today.
I got my setup.
It was hot.
I didn't get up early thismorning because the humidity and
the warp was still here.
I don't want to blow my reallygood spots.
(02:51):
So said, you know what, I'lltake the E bike down in there when
it gets maybe 8 o' clock orso, sneak down in there.
I found a big scrape in the trail.
Found another one about 40 yards.
It's lining up with all thecamera stuff I've got.
And I was like, cool.
You know, I said, I'm going toset it up there.
(03:11):
Hung the set and thenunfortunately had to go up and take
care of the old plow truck formy father.
So ended up working on thatfor most of the day.
But I did get good news.
A neighbor of mine where Ihave lost land, right across the
street from where I washunting, just up and gave me permission
to hunt his land.
(03:33):
That's a win, brother.
Total change of events.
But I'm very blessed.
I, I, I know God's moving inmy direction.
Like I said, you know, for onedoor closes, another one opens.
And you know, I just.
That place I had, I'm veryfortunate that I had so close for
all these years.
It's being tore up basically.
(03:53):
Kind of not really developed, but like all the stuff, what I had
is just kind of null and voidand I'm kind of upset about it.
I mean, I'm not mad at the guy.
The guy just bought it fairand square.
I'm just mad at the situation, you know, praying on it, saying,
you know, still lucky I gotthe other spot.
I got.
And you know, I got state landto hunt and stuff like that.
(04:16):
So I just, I just was blessed today.
I, it was a total.
They asked me about somethingelse and then while I was down there
and they were like, would youlike to hunt here?
We saw what happened acrossthe street and I'm like, what?
Yeah, like really?
Seriously?
Yeah.
And it worked out.
So it's good news for chains.
(04:37):
I thought about that.
Dave could use a screwing steps.
Yeah, I'll put that up on there.
He's back.
Yeah, yeah.
No, that's a good pursuit.
That's good, Dave.
I, I thought about that.
I was thinking about maybe, maybe doing that.
But I'm, I'm bouncing aroundfrom place to place and I, I just
wanted that fifth stick anyway.
And it's, it's not thatcumbersome or heavy to add to the
(04:58):
bottom of my nice arsenal packthat I got that Frank told me about.
And I love that pack.
I do, too.
I mean, I was using it today.
It was such an easy setup, hunt wise.
I got out here by the houselast night, saw 2 Doe.
I had another deer blow deeperdown into the woods.
I don't know what it was.
(05:18):
It wasn't blowing at me.
I know that.
There was no wind.
Nothing was going that way.
I think it just.
Some people were talkinglouder on the other side of the road
up the hill in their houses.
So maybe that just spooked it.
But I'm hoping.
I'm hoping that, you know, wecan get that.
Hey, there he is.
What's up, Mr. Gerard.
How are you, buddy?
Mr. Rat Getter.
(05:39):
Rack getter himself.
Yep.
Let's give him a.
Let's give him a shameless plug.
Rat Getter makes the mostawesomest sense out there.
If he ain't absolutely.
If you ain't using them, youought to be.
I'll stand behind it.
I've used his products now forover two years.
And I'll tell you what, guys, you want somebody that's a.
A good, honest guy that knowsthis stuff about, you know, deer,
(06:00):
deer technology and everythingelse, that's the fellow to talk to.
100%.
Couldn't agree more, buddy.
Yeah.
So, like I said, man, it's good.
Heavy acorn mast banking onthe food down there.
It's looking good.
I know they've been munchingon the acorns and we're just waiting
for the right temperatures.
The moon helped.
(06:21):
The moon snapped them intodoing the scrapes.
Very happy.
I remember you telling me.
Yeah.
Yep.
Yeah.
We were actually texting thismorning about that.
Or maybe it was the morningbefore one of those.
Yeah, but like.
Like I said, it's.
It's just one of those things, man.
I. I've been.
I'm pumped.
You know, I shot yesterday fora little while, which is good.
Just wanted to check the bowout from traveling in and out with
(06:43):
the E bike.
Just make sure I didn't bounceanything on the handlebar racks.
That thing's a blessing.
Oh, my God.
Get in quiet quick.
You know, it's like.
Should have did this years ago.
Yeah.
But nah, man, like I said, youknow, we.
We had some fun upstate byyour place.
And yes, we had a quick littlefamily emergency that made us get
(07:03):
out of there in a hurry.
But everything's okay.
Nothing serious, guys.
So don't worry about that wedid see some nice bucks in the fields
up there.
And.
Yeah, we jumped a really nicebuck, too.
Oh, that.
That buck was a beauty.
Yeah.
And the next morning I had one.
Oh, gosh, probably 75, 80yards on the other side of the fence
hitting a licking branch.
(07:24):
He was a nice eight.
And if we had got to finishthe weekend out Sunday, maybe one
of us would have connected, man.
I. I think we would have, man.
I. I really.
I really do, you know?
Yeah, I. I believe so, Justin.
On most of them, you can.
They haven't.
They haven't said anythingabout it.
I know we have rail trails, like the old railroad beds here,
(07:47):
and there's people that ridejust regular pedal bikes, and there's
people that ride the E bikeson there.
And it says no motorizedvehicles, but they get away with
it.
So I don't think they've.
They've put the kibosh on ityet up here.
I gosh, I hope they don't, because.
Yeah, I know.
Like over here on the.
On federal land.
Doesn't matter.
You can't use it at all.
(08:08):
There's, like, only two trailsthat are open.
Actually, I think everything'sshut down now from the.
The government shut down.
But yeah, they only had twotrails that were open that you're
even allowed to bring yourdogs on.
Oh, geez.
Yep.
So wait a minute now.
Okay.
How should I put this?
(08:29):
Asking for a friend.
So if the government shutdown, isn't it just a free for all
on federal lands?
I mean, there's nobody thereto, like, reinforce anything, right?
I mean, I would think so, butapparently not.
Now, look, we've got.
That's Brett Boven, the.
Yep.
Mr. Boven, the host ofWhitetail Advantage on his night
(08:49):
off.
And he said it's you guys.
And he's commenting.
Yeah, the seeing leaves fallfrom a tree counter seeing something.
Yes, yes, they do.
No.
Unless you're Shane the blind hunter.
Who would know if the leavesare falling from the tree?
Unless somebody.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he could bedoing that, too.
Yep.
Could be a little dig there.
(09:10):
Hopefully Shane's watching tonight.
He should be on.
I don't know, maybe he's maybestill cutting up a deer or something.
But maybe there's.
That's a prime example of, youknow, we talk about how our hunting
seasons change and you mightlose something or gain something.
What about if you lost youreyesight, I mean.
Yep.
The dude could see, had anindustrial accident, lost his eyesight
(09:35):
and said, so what?
I'm still hunting, man.
I mean, hey, When I startgetting down, I think of people like
that.
And I don't know if you saw,but Turkey Slayer 406 Jagger out
there in Montana.
We helped raise money to gethim his four wheel drive E trike
(09:56):
four wheeler.
I'll call it Northwest Spur Chasers.
Just went out to see him again.
Brought him a gun as a giftfrom some companies.
He got an MKC knife.
And then Jagger's riding thething down the streets in Montana
to go to breakfast and meetthese guys.
So that video, man, justseeing that young man be able to
(10:18):
get around in what people didfor him and reach out, I mean, it's
just a freaking blessing, man.
You know, so, you know.
No, I agree.
Yeah.
But yeah, squat.
So I was gonna dive in on.
On my hunt upstate New York.
So.
Yeah, go.
You know, like we were saying,we jumped that.
(10:39):
That one big.
That one really good buck.
We did.
We.
We just had a blast in thecamper, man.
We were just hanging out.
We went.
We got.
We went and got some dinner, had a few beers, relaxed.
Yep.
And you know, we were.
We were psyched for that morning.
I couldn't even really sleepthe night before for the couple hours.
And yeah, you know, we got.
(11:01):
We got in the tree and thefirst deer I saw, I could he.
I could hear, you know, a deercome running in.
It's coming, running in fromour field.
And I turned around and Icould see it was probably about 25,
30 yards away already.
Yeah.
And I mean, he was just on adead run.
I don't know what he wasrunning from.
It was, you know, a decent eight.
(11:23):
Nothing, you know, nothingcrazy, but, you know, he was.
He was a beautiful deer regardless.
Right.
But he just.
He just never stopped.
I mean, he maybe stopped formaybe 1.2 seconds if that, and then
ran straight up to our power line.
And then.
Yeah.
And then I saw three more ofthose actually run to like running
(11:45):
away on our power line.
So something spooked them.
I think the neighbor was downthere with his tractor or something.
Oh, yeah.
And then that was it.
Then I think I had.
We stayed up there to almost about.
Until about 10 o'.
Clock.
And I had just that one spikecome running off the power line.
He ran literally rightunderneath me.
I could have spit on him.
(12:06):
Yeah.
But yeah, I mean, that's howmy hunt went.
I mean, I didn't really.
I haven't really hunted Jerseythat much because of the weather
and just doing stuff and, youknow, I know.
You know, actually I got outtoday finally.
I went through Some bait downand everything.
And still running the cameras.
(12:26):
I'm still getting some goodbears on there.
New Jersey bear actually openson Monday.
Yeah.
So as long as the weatherholds out.
Because now I see there's alot of rain in the forecast.
So I'm like, I don't know whatto do.
I don't know if I should movemy days at work and wait.
I was like, I. I don't really know.
I guess I'm gonna wait a fewmore days, and hopefully it changes.
(12:49):
But, you know, I really wantto get a bear with my bow buddy.
Oh, me too.
You know, like, so we'll justsee what happens, you know?
But I did actually real quickgoing back to New York state.
I know Squatch, you know this.
But I did pick up this bad boytoday I shot last year.
(13:11):
I got the American flag on there.
Nice.
You know, so.
Yeah, thanks, man.
So it's full compliments ofbuckshot taxidermy here in county.
Nice.
So.
But he.
He did a phenomenal job.
I love how it came out, youknow, it was a good buck.
That was the buck that youcame to help me, actually.
That was the first time youwere there.
Squatch actually came to helpme track it.
(13:33):
Yep.
My man.
That was our second track job, though.
That was our second track job.
But, yeah, that was.
We should.
We should actually revisitthat a little bit here for the show
to fill people into what went on.
So.
Yeah, you had.
You had a misfortunate thinghappen to you in Jersey that opened
a week.
And of course, you know, youget on the phone to me, and you're
(13:53):
like, hey, I got.
Okay, listen, I'm coming up.
So we came up.
Mike came up.
Jay was there.
Yeah.
Tried to find that deer.
We never found him, unfortunately.
Yep.
Oh, no.
The video was incredible, man.
Yep.
If anybody didn't see it, youhave to go to my page and watch it.
Yeah, it's.
(14:14):
It's pretty crazy.
Yeah.
But what was it, like, a weekor so later maybe?
Or was it two weeks?
I think it was like.
It was like two weeks later.
Right.
You called me to come up to Sullivan.
Yeah, I think.
I think it was the following week.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
So it was the following week.
Yep.
I had just got.
I had got back from.
(14:35):
From Ohio, and I was on somedeer over here on the property.
And we.
We talk.
Frank and I talk quite a bit.
I mean, all the time.
You think we get bored of eachother, but we're not.
We're like each other'sPsychiatrists in the deer.
Yes.
We have to be.
So I'm telling him about stuffthat's going on.
He's like, I hope you get him.
(14:55):
He should come in.
I'm like, I'm just waiting.
Yeah, it got to be like, Idon't know, like, 9, 30, 10 o' clock
that morning.
I was about ready to get outof the stand, and you were like,
bro, I hit one.
I'm like, oh, boy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And you're, you know, I couldhear the hesitation in his voice.
And I'm like, where are you?
Well, I'm upstate.
(15:15):
I'm like, all right, let me.
It's like two hours.
All right, I'll be up.
What?
I'm coming up.
Yeah.
No, dude, I don't want to ruinyour hunt.
And it was actually the firstnight I was supposed to appear on
Whitetail Advantage with Brettand all the boys.
Yeah.
Remember?
Yup.
And I was like, look, I cancome up.
I'll help you look, but Igotta get back home because I gotta
(15:36):
be on that podcast.
No problem.
Long story short, get up there.
I'm like, wow, this is abeautiful piece of property.
We did kick the deer up one time.
Never saw him cross the road.
Frank and I and his uncle, we.
We.
We did the grid, man.
We went back and forth.
Guys, like, you're talking for hours.
Circle for hours.
(15:57):
Ah, man, it was getting dark, and I hated to leave, but I had to
get back home.
Yeah.
And I just like, look, man,I'm sorry.
I tried everything.
It's okay.
Frank said, I'm gonna comeback out tomorrow.
Like, good luck.
He called me in the morning,he showed me the grid.
He was walking.
Well, his buddy, the farmernext door had a big old tractor.
(16:18):
He's able to get up on the hood.
And he found his deer.
Yep.
Literally, like, he had thatvantage point to look down.
And, hey, the deer didn't goto waste.
Thank God you found him.
You got a beautiful mount doneout of them.
You know, coyotes got him, though.
Yeah.
Yep.
But everybody has that happen, man.
Oh, yeah, Yeah.
I mean, we must have walkedpast that deer, like, 10 times from
(16:41):
where we found them and wherewe stopped walking.
I'm like, you gotta be.
You gotta be me.
I swear that son of a had aghillie suit on.
Yeah.
Two of, man.
Because, you know, as soon asI got on there, it was literally,
like our second pass.
He was like, jump up there andsee if you see him.
Did the second pass, and allof a sudden, boom.
I just see a big White rocksticking out of the grass.
(17:02):
I'm like, you gotta be me.
He's right there.
Yep.
So.
But yeah, I mean it was justone of those, one of those things
where like, I don't even knowhow he made it that far.
Squatch.
No, I don't know either.
Like he, we, we watched thevideo and I sent it to you and it
was pretty clear that you knowhow, you know how high I was because
(17:27):
I was on a ridge.
He actually was on the sameridge as me, then dropped down.
So me being like, I think Iwas like 16 or 17ft up.
But by time he got down to thebottom of that, that ridge, it was
like shooting him at like fromlike 25ft.
And I just nailed them rightin the top of the back.
(17:50):
He dropped like when I, whenwe found him, his back was literally
broken.
Yeah, I don't know how thehell he did it.
Like.
Yeah, go ahead.
No, I was gonna say like, youeven seen the video?
He was rolling around for agood couple seconds and then all
of a sudden he just gets uplike nothing happens and just run
(18:10):
and just makes, makes a runfor it.
God.
Yeah, yeah, we, we, we wereimpressed on how strong that the,
the arrows were from, from or.
Yeah, we sent the video to Jason.
He's like, dang them thingsare tough.
I'm like, you guys make them.
I'm like, holy crap.
You're not changing my mind.
I'm definitely hunting withthose suckers from now on.
(18:30):
Yeah, I definitely put them tothe test for them.
And you had a 180 pound deerbreak dancing on top of it.
I'm like, geez.
But yeah, I mean none of uslike to have that happen.
But you know, you, you do yourdue diligence.
We, you know, we looked allday, you went back the next day,
(18:51):
you didn't give up.
You found your deer.
And you know, that's a lot tobe said because a lot of people will
just be like, ah, you know,it's, it's not going to happen.
I'm not going to find them.
And they just give up.
So you know, that's why I saidit's just, it's just one of those
things.
I mean I've, I don't know,I've probably done everything you
could probably do to a deer inall my years hunting, man.
(19:13):
It's like I've, I've, I, I've,I've seen them endure more crap.
And you know, it's like I say, some of them will just drop dead.
Right there in front of you.
Okay.
Textbook.
And other ones just have thewill to live.
Yeah.
And remember, I remembertelling my grandfather, telling me
stories when, you know, I wasa little boy growing up and hunting.
(19:34):
Started out hunting.
My cousins, his brothers thatlived up in Hunter Mountain, you
know, they got some roughwinters up there over the years,
boy.
And they.
They got some big old mountaindeer that grow up in there.
And my one, we call him, itwas Uncle Vince.
He was the first one to carry the.
4570.
Government.
And funny story, they were up there.
(19:58):
My grandfather was huntingwith a 6.5 Jap rifle that he had
brought back from World War II.
That was that.
My dad sporterized for him.
And it was below zero.
They were hunting up in the mountains.
And my grandfather sees thisbuck standing in the swamp.
He shoots.
The buck don't move.
(20:18):
Hell.
So he racks the bullet again.
Shoots.
He's.
The deer's just standingthere, and he's like this.
What is it?
Gun off.
How come the deer's not running?
So he's looking through thescope and he sees the blood coming
out of the deer, and he'slike, I did hit him because there
was snow all over the ground.
He's like, I don't understand this.
No.
He shoots again.
(20:39):
The deer's just standing there.
So Uncle Vince comes up, hesays, edmund, what the hell are you
doing in a deer?
He says, I don't know.
I shot him three times.
He's standing there bleeding.
He won't fall down.
Hold on.
Boom.
He hits him with that.
45, 70 and goes over like aton of logs, Right?
So they walk over, and theyseated a couple of holes.
(21:01):
My grandfather poked in withthat six, five Jap rifle.
Yeah.
In the big hole from the.45 70.
But around the deer's hawks,it was frozen.
His legs were literally frozenin the swamp.
So what that deer did wasduring the deer drive, he went down
there, wouldn't move from themguys running around.
He actually froze in place inthe swamp.
(21:22):
And the impact from that big4570 is the only thing that knocked
that damn dude.
Yeah.
Unbelievable, man.
Stories.
The stories are far and fewbetween, but, you know, that's.
That's another reason why Iwent to that big board this year.
Yep.
Yeah.
No, you.
You're definitely not gonnamess around this year, I'll tell
you that.
(21:42):
Ah, nah, man.
And like I said, you know,we'll see.
Hopefully, I'll.
I'll get to break that new gun in.
And I think.
But it's I don't even careright now.
I just want to kill one withthe bow, you know.
And, and I think you weresaying you went to pick that head
up today.
Your tax dermist said hehasn't seen a lot happening, huh?
No, no, actually, yeah.
(22:03):
When I went over there andtalked to Mark today, he said, hey.
He goes, asked him howbusiness doing, everything he was.
I'm actually, he's like, nottoo many deer coming in, you know.
He goes, he goes, it has to bethe weather a lot.
A lot of people are gettinglike pictures of at like 12 o' clock
in the morning around then.
(22:24):
And then basically that's it,like dead.
I told him like, all mycameras like stopped.
Like I'm, I am gettingpictures of like few does here and
there and you know, a fewbears that I've been watching.
But I mean, it's just, everything's just slow right now,
at least for over here anyway, so.
(22:45):
But hey, we'll, we'll see what happens.
Hopefully next week we can,you know, be able to connect with
a bear.
I'm hoping so.
Hopefully you can make.
Hopefully the weather holds out.
So Mr. Squatch here can joinme for a bear hunt and we'll go kill
one.
Oh, yeah.
How hard could it be?
(23:05):
I killed one.
I killed one like seven yearsago with the rifle and that one almost
landed on me.
So.
Yep, you know, we'll see what happens.
You'll be in the saddle.
Yeah, no, I ain't scared, man.
You know, like I said, I'llget out there.
You know, it's, it's one ofthose things, man.
You know, I, I, I, I don'teven care.
(23:25):
Like when I'm hunting withyou, it's just, it's the time well
spent, man.
You guys, I'm sure all youguys can relate, you know.
Yeah.
100 for years with my cousin,we always had a good time together
and stuff.
And you know, they're the goodold days and you know, hunting with
good friends and stuff likethat, or you get to mentor somebody
out there and I don't, youknow, it's like, it's like you deer
(23:50):
racks after a while start alllooking the same.
The country that you hunt isstill the same country that you hunt.
It's more when I say hunt,it's about the experience of the
hunt that makes it worth the while.
So, you know, you guys, I'msure everybody's got a special somebody
(24:13):
or, you know, like we'vegotten into those questions and the
rapid fire, you Know, if itwas one last chance to, you know,
hunt with somebody, who wouldyou go with or whatever.
Yep.
And, you know, I say, well, the hell with all that.
I mean, why make it one last chance?
Make it a lifetime of stufftogether and enjoy it and do stuff.
And, you know, all too oftenyou see people get.
(24:33):
Get their nose at a joint, they're jealous of this guy shot
that deer out from underneaththem or whatever.
And, you know, especially ifthey're friends, you know, and you
and I, we've.
We've.
We've came to that conclusionthat we don't care, you know, if
I squeeze the trigger or throwan arrow into something.
It's just like, you did it.
And, you know, that's the wayit is.
And.
And you know, what it should be?
(24:54):
I mean, yes, of course, yougot to yield to each other, understand
what you guys are all tryingto accomplish, and.
And listens to each other.
I mean, that's what makes afriendship, you know, last.
Especially when you're in, youknow, day in and day out hunting
with somebody or.
Or whatever.
But, I mean, you were as.
As, you know, how do I put it?
(25:14):
You were as gracious enough tosay, hey, even though you put that
trail camera there, you don'thave to show me the pictures on it.
And I was like, what?
Yeah, and you were like, no,it's your camera.
And I'm like, dude, if youthink I'm gonna hunt somewhere you're
hunting and not share what'srunning around in that freaking property,
you got another thing.
Come, man.
And there's.
There's people out there like that.
(25:35):
They're like, nope.
And I even went on.
I put you on as a secondviewer on the.
On that camera so you can seewhat was going on, you know?
So, you know, I just.
It's.
It's just one of those thingsand having the hunting camaraderie
that we have with a lot of theguys out there.
I mean, we got Dave from Urban Pursuit.
Dave, psu, mobile hunter, youknow, Justin.
(25:56):
We got the blind guy, JohnnyNitro, Brett Pove, and, you know,
Mike.
All those guys, you know, everybody.
Connor.
Yeah, don't forget about Connor.
And.
And behind the grind there, you know, we got him.
Everybody you.
You see there, like, we're sitting.
I mean, you know, I posted acouple pictures out where I was hunting
last night.
All sit there, man.
(26:17):
We're all, like, sharing stuff.
Everybody's like, hey, good luck.
You know what.
What is so freaking hard about that?
You know, everybody just belike, hey, Cool.
Good job.
Yep.
You know, I mean, I think youwere saying something about the one
spot where you were, you know, not mentioning names or anything
or where you were, butsomebody had ran into somebody, and
(26:38):
they were, like, talking abunch of crap, and, you know, that
wasn't cool.
That wasn't cool.
No, no, it wasn't cool at all.
No.
And that stuff's got to stop.
That's the kind of crap that'sgot to be like, you know?
And then, like, tonight, somebody that I know said, hey, do
you know certain somebody?
And I'm like, yeah, I know the name.
And, oh, I caught him in thatproperty that I have.
(27:01):
And I'm like, yep.
I said, the guy's kind of aprick, you know?
And he's like, yeah, you know,I caught him.
He was yelling at me and oneof my clients and this and that.
And I was like, yep, thatsounds like him.
So I was like, yeah, man, just, you know, you got the permission
to be there, so just boot themout, and.
And that's it, you know?
(27:22):
Hey, it's our blind guy, Shane.
We were just talking about him.
We were looking for you.
Nah, man.
He finally found the braille.
The braille.
The braille texting machineand got on here and said hello.
So.
Yes, sir.
That's good.
We wouldn't have it any otherway without Shane.
(27:42):
Nope.
Happy to have you on, buddy.
Yeah, man.
Good to see everybody on here.
I see a lot of people in thecomments are our good followers,
our good friends here tofollow us.
Follow us on the whitetail, and they follow us on Garden State
outdoorsman also, so.
That's nice, man.
Be able to bring a littlesomething extra to you guys on the.
The down nights whenwhitetailing on.
(28:03):
You know, we're still figuringthis out here on this show what the
hell we're gonna throw.
Pretty much.
We're just.
And then.
Yeah, yeah, no, you know,we're just.
Just talking to talk, andthat's it.
All we need is a campfire.
Yep, yep.
Yeah, we could do that, but Iprobably put a big hole in my carpet
up here.
Yeah, yeah, me too.
I'm not doing that.
(28:23):
I do like it.
The portable burn pits.
Yeah, you'll probably haveRemy come down through there, jumping
in the ashes.
Uncle Squatch, watch this.
Oh, man.
I don't think.
I don't think he liked thecamper, though.
He didn't have any fun outthere in that.
No, no, he.
I remember actually on the.
On the drive back home, hewas, man, this camper sucks.
(28:47):
He was like, dad, if you get acamper, don't get what Squatch has
got that thing.
Yeah, right.
What was he thinking?
No, I know, but yeah, man.
So, you know, like I said,it's looking forward to this cold
snap coming.
Hopefully this little minivacation going on.
Get them guys up and moving, man.
(29:08):
I, I love those cold mornings.
I like seeing the leavesdropping from the trees.
And you know, I, I got a goodlittle game plan, man.
I, I think I'm gonna have some movement.
I'm hoping, I mean, from, fromwhat you showed me this morning,
like, it's pretty killer, man.
It's like, like you weretelling me before, it's textbook.
Like.
Yeah, I mean, I have very, very high hopes for you, man.
(29:31):
I really do.
I'll be waiting for that phone call.
Like I said, all I can do istry, you know, I just, I, I had to,
I had camera pictures.
I know the deer's been movingaround through there.
I, I shared, you know, thepictures with you and showed you
a lot of nighttime stuff, someearly morning stuff too, which is
good.
I did daylight, a couple ofdeer in there on camera.
(29:54):
Hasn't been a, it's been alittle bit of a while though since,
but going in that trail thismorning and I saw that big hood,
you know, car hood size scrape.
I was like, oh, dear God.
I'm like, he's in here and heis coming from that way, so.
And then I found the second one.
Just confirming what I got.
(30:14):
So between those two cameras,I, I gotta catch him on his trail,
man.
And then, hey, who knows, man?
Maybe Thursday when it cools off.
I'm up there nice and early, Ishould be able to get a quick shot
on them.
Hopefully.
Be rooting for you.
And you were saying what it'sgoing to be like around like a 22
yard shot.
(30:35):
You were telling me roughly.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, if he's following theline, you know, that he's, that I
think he's moving in on in there.
Yeah.
I mean, chip shot 20, youknow, 22 yards maybe at the furthest
he may come closer.
Yeah.
The good thing is.
Yeah, I mean, the good thingis I, I, I got everything set up
(30:55):
so it's just ready to go.
I just gotta do one or twolittle things, but, you know, get
up there and do it and, andyou know, I tried to, you know, how
many, how many of you guys gothrough the stuff with the saddle
and it's like, okay, it's kindof like when you had your climbers
and you're like, I gotta get astraight tree.
So I'm looking around inthere, and I'm like, that tree's
(31:17):
too far.
I do like that tree, butthat's not in a good area.
I can't get a shot.
Then I found a one, and it wasleaned out.
Sorry.
It leaned out a little bit.
It leaned out just a little bit.
And I was like, yeah, that'll do.
It'll be okay.
And I got up there, and I'mlike, yep, this is gonna work.
(31:37):
This is perfect.
And I got enough, you know, backdrop behind me for now until
the canopy kind of wears out.
And the wind.
The wind is the big thing, youknow, like, we all play the wind.
Growing up over.
Growing up over there, I knowwhere that wind comes from.
And it'll either be like anorth wind northwest, or just predominantly
(31:57):
out of the west.
If it's a north wind, it mayget me in trouble a little bit.
If it's a stiff north wind, aslong as it comes out of the west,
if it's.
If it's ripping to the west,I'm good.
I'm good.
It's a good setup.
He's not going to know I'm there.
And it's like, tonight, Ididn't go out.
I didn't go rush back over tothat set.
Dude, I was in there layingsent down today, even though I had
(32:20):
rubber boots on.
And, you know, I was carefulabout it.
I pulled my two bottom sticksout so they can't walk up.
Smell the tree, smell the sticks.
Pulled everything out.
Just left a couple up in the tree.
You know, I got the hell outof there, and I'm not.
You gotta pick those spots.
That buck I killed two yearsago, had a perfect setup.
(32:40):
Thought about going into thatladder stand.
I don't know how many times.
I'm like, should go tonight.
Nah, I'm not seeing enough activity.
Should go tonight.
Nope.
And I was at work, and I sawbucks running all over the place.
And I was like, man, when Iget home, I gotta get in that tree.
And I could slip in therewithout making any noise.
(33:01):
Got in there, and wouldn't youknow it, man, he showed up, and I
was like, damn, this is textbook.
He came right in.
I'm like, this is freaking nuts.
I'm like, it worked out, butthe whole time he's just staring
at me, and I'm, like, lookingat him, and I'm like, I gotta get
this shot off.
But everything worked out, andI got the shot.
He's on the wall Downstairs, you know, so.
(33:23):
Yeah, but you gotta.
That's the nice thing aboutthe saddle.
I was.
I do have a fixed stand inthere in the other spot, but the
steps are kind of growed out.
I don't like climbing up it anymore.
So I set up the saddle in nextto that other stand, and two mornings
I hunted it.
I didn't see nothing in there.
And I'm like, I don't knowwhat the hell's going on.
(33:44):
And I'm like, all right.
I got pictures at night.
I know they're there.
You know, I mean, last year I had.
I had three textbook bucks, you know, here, and they were at
night, and I was like, they'regonna daylight.
They're gonna daylight.
When did they daylight?
I was in Ohio.
Yeah, of course.
But it's okay.
You know, I. I did get on them.
I did get on them.
I saw them, and I just gotfaith in this spot, too.
(34:07):
It's like I. I get on them.
I know.
I know what they're doing.
I got on them, and.
And, you know, it helps tohave the versatility of the.
The saddle.
Yeah.
And, you know, you're.
You're a big influencer withme on that.
You.
You got an extra year on thatwith doing that style.
And, you know, I appreciateyour intel and.
And all that.
(34:27):
And all the rest of the guys, you know, all our guys in the group,
you know, everybody adds theirtwo cents in.
We share stuff and we get in and.
And I know you.
You personally, you.
You're constantly, like, onthe move.
You'll.
You'll have a setup.
You're like, no, my othercamera is working this way.
I'm gonna shift or split thedifference between the two spots.
(34:48):
Yeah.
And you get on them.
You know, I. I gotta say, youdefinitely get on them, man.
No, no, thanks, man.
And like I said, I think.
I think one of the things, too, that I took away from our hunt
was, like, we were able to,like, look at each other's setups
and, you know, our sticks andkind of compare and, like, oh, like,
this is what I like about it.
(35:08):
This is what I don't likeabout it.
And, you know, we were boththere when we were, you know, setting
the saddles up, because we.
We pre hung them the night before.
So, yeah, it was.
It was really cool to justhave, like, that aspect of it.
And I mean, I think both ofour spots were just killers, man.
Like, the backdrops that we.
(35:29):
I mean, there was no way wewere getting busted unless, of course,
we did something stupid likewe're up there break dancing or something.
But.
Yeah, you know, I mean, God,it just pisses me off, man.
You know, like, it was.
It was killer stuff, man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, absolutely, man.
I mean, it's just like, youknow, our setups, you know, we do
(35:52):
different little things and.
Yeah.
And, you know, like, you werelike, you.
You're like, oh, I like your sticks.
And I'm like, yeah.
I mean, I like the way yourskind of telescope out and you get
that.
The way they pack down, butthe lightness of mine and how they
pack together.
Yeah.
That's what I like about them.
I like that because, man, whenyou put it up against the bottom
of that pack, it's solid.
(36:13):
And I ride in.
I ride in on the E bike, youknow, to a lot of my spots.
The packs off my back, I justtake a couple of bungee cords, put
it around the rack, and I ride in.
And it's not.
You're making all this crap up and.
Yep.
You know.
Yeah, Dave.
Dave, we saw that video.
Yeah.
Yeah, we did, guys.
(36:33):
You know, Dave has beenfriends of ours since, like, day
one.
He was like, the first podcastI watched.
Chris.
Chris Benson.
Dave.
I have to say, guys, you won'tfind a better.
Better guy to lay down.
Video.
Take.
Take just good pictures of nature.
(36:54):
What's going on while he's onthese hunts.
Yep.
It was a pleasure to see whathe put together the other day was.
I wish I could videograph that.
Good.
I don't have the pace.
Yeah.
I'm like, here's the kill shot.
The thing's dead.
Congratulations to me.
It's literally me.
Take care.
But nah, man.
Check out.
Check out Urban Pursuit with Dave.
(37:15):
He's got great.
If you don't follow him onInstagram, follow him.
Give him a.
Give him a shout out.
Tell him the old Squatch andFrank set him up since she's over
there.
Absolutely.
But he's got a knack, man.
He's got a knack for film andstuff and editing it together looks.
Looks really cool.
So just wanted to, you know, give credit where credit's due.
He does some nice work out there.
(37:35):
No, absolutely.
And, like, one of the.
One of the things that I enjoythe most about his videos is, like,
watching him do, like.
Like when he does a mockscrape and then, like, seeing what
comes to it.
I mean.
I mean, he just gets somephenomenal deer on there, and it's
just, you know, it's reallycool just to see it all come together,
(37:56):
you know, like, he's he'staught me, like, a few things about
mock scrapes that, like, Inever did.
I just watched him, and I waslike, you know what?
It's a good idea.
Like, yeah, you know, I'mprobably gonna do that next time,
you know, so.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And, you know, it's.
That's the nice thing, youknow, we all.
We all have, like.
Of course we keep our littlestuff to ourselves, Our secrets.
(38:18):
And.
Oh, of course, every.
Everybody does.
But, I mean, geez, I don'tcare if people are like, why do you
tell people that?
What the hell's the difference?
If I tell somebody what I'mdoing, they're gonna figure it out
anyway or hear it fromsomebody else or.
Yeah.
Or whatever, you know?
I mean, it's like, so what?
Just use it, man.
Yeah.
So, you know, it's all good, man.
Dave, you're welcome.
(38:38):
No problem.
Yeah, you're welcome, bud.
You don't have to thank us, man.
It's all good.
We all look out for each other.
Exactly.
We have to, man.
Especially nowadays.
Yep.
With the way things are going, the.
World'S full of idiots, man.
You know, Literally, it'slike, we.
We got to be the strongerbunch of this.
This crap that's going on.
(38:58):
Yeah.
So, yeah, it's.
It's, like, competitive enough.
Like, you know, most of thetime, you know, you're fighting yourself,
you know, And, I mean, you seeme struggle, Squatch, you know, you
see.
You know, you'll be the firstone to hear.
Hear my mouth when I'mfrustrated and everything, you know,
Like.
Yeah, and.
And vice versa.
(39:19):
But I mean, you.
You just have to be, man.
Especially nowadays, like, weall got to support each other and
say.
Say, hey, you know, like, yougot this.
Don't worry about it.
You know, hey, why don't youtry this?
Why don't you try that?
Like, that's how it should be, man.
Because, I mean, I saw with alot of guys that were competitive,
man, that always needed to bethe one to kill, kill, kill, kill.
(39:40):
I'm like, what are you tryingto prove?
You know?
Like, I don't have nothing Igotta prove, you know?
So, yeah, I got the killingside out of me when I was younger,
you know, And I was just.
I was fortunate, man, to havewhat I had, you know, and be able
to do what I did.
And, you know, it was like, all of a sudden, I don't know what.
(40:04):
Just shut that off and made mechange, you know, to go out and just
be a different type of hunterand, you know, it's hard.
It's hard.
Well, people are like, oh, you're.
You're a rack hunter, and.
No, I'm not, man.
I just will wait to shoot a doe.
When it's cooler out, I liketo let the fawns or the yearlings
finally separate enough awayfrom their mother, you know?
(40:26):
I don't want to shoot.
I.
Well, I. I got a couple doughout, and there's still milk in the
bladder, and it's like, yeah,I don't want to.
Me too.
I've done it.
I think every hunter's beenthere, to be honest with you, man.
I don't want to do it.
You know, I'm like, gun.
You know, so that's anotherreason, too.
Like, I don't agree with that, like, earn a buck crap or whatever.
(40:47):
I mean, I get it.
There's a high pot.
I get it.
But I don't agree with it.
That's just my opinion.
No.
And I mean, I have to do it,and I don't agree with it, so.
No, I know.
I know.
You know, but, you know, it's.
It's one of those things.
I'll wait and then.
I don't know, man, like, you.
(41:07):
Every time you put the cameras out.
Well, I mean, a lot of mycameras are out all year anyway.
But you start seeing the deer, and you're like, oh, he's cool.
Oh, he showed up again.
Oh, you know, now he's overhere and this and that and.
Yeah, I mean, it's.
You don't want to have, like, that relationship.
Like a kind of.
(41:28):
I won't call it a petrelationship, but, yeah, getting
to know that animal and youwant to take its life, and it's like,
well, how do you balance that?
And it's like, well, you stillunderstand, even though he's cool
and you see him all the time,I still want to kill him.
Yeah.
You know, and it's like, I want.
I want the meat, I want therack, and I want the bragging rights
(41:51):
to say, I got another nicedeer for that year.
And I think.
I think that's what stopped mefrom just being a murderer in the
woods versus being a moreaccomplished hunter.
Like, and it's like I saidbefore, it ain't about doing this
or doing that or who got thisor who got that.
It's.
(42:11):
It's the slowdown time.
No, it's the peace with nature time.
And it's just like, I justlove it, man.
And if I get a deer out of it,okay, so on and so forth.
But in the meantime, you gotall the fun you have.
I mean, it's like, hey, look,I found this today.
Hey, look, I'm setting this up here.
And you talk to people.
Oh, yeah.
It looks like a good setup, man.
(42:31):
That's great.
And it is.
It works out good, man.
Yeah, I mean, it's the same, like, rabbit hole when you get.
Think about, like, camo and,you know, people get too fixated
on.
On camo or what bra head youuse or whatever, you know, as long
as it works for you.
Yeah, use it, you know, so.
(42:53):
Because I've been there.
So at one point, I've usedthem or whatever at some point, you
know, So, I mean, you see, ever we were this weekend, we were
just like, getting tripped up,and me and you were just laughing
and like, you know, like, yep, this is.
This.
This is true Hunt and youknow, like, can't even walk in a
(43:15):
straight line, you know.
Oh, no, no, no.
Like, oh, yeah, that's pretty cool.
Camo.
Where'd you get that from, Walmart?
Yeah, I did, actually.
Yep.
You know, like, it's.
It's all good.
Yeah.
You know, we've seen a couplenice ones out in the fields too.
When we went to dinner, youknow, we drove around just before
it was getting dark.
Seen a couple of goodprospects up there, so, you know,
(43:38):
good area.
Nice to see stuff that's out, stuff that's moving.
They were still in bachelorgroups up there, so.
Yeah, you know, but that's.
It's good now, I think withthis moon that's.
That knocks them around, get some.
Gets them away from that.
Yep.
So.
Couldn't agree more, Dave.
Oh, yeah, definitely.
Patton screaming and yellingat Frank because something didn't
(43:58):
work out that I planned out.
That's it.
I mean, what the hell am Idoing wrong?
I freaking had him four times.
Okay.
What the hell?
Is he not here?
Yep.
And I'm like, that's justbecause you suck, Squatch.
And I'll show you.
I do.
I do.
Yeah.
I'm just kidding.
The first one admitted I suckfirst than anybody.
I don't even know why the hellI'm on a podcast.
I just look cool, I guess.
So people are like, put themon there.
I don't know.
(44:18):
He's got a big beer.
He must be a hunter.
Yeah, I think he's got acouple cool guns.
Maybe you know something about that.
Put him on there.
Hey, listen, he's got a deerhead in the back.
Good enough for me.
I tell everybody I ain'tnobody special I'm a hunter just
like everybody else.
Yes, me either.
I just been tromping thisground for a long time and learning
(44:41):
a little bit of stuff here andthere, and, you know, who the hell
care?
I just like to have fun, you know?
Yeah.
Life's too short to bemiserable and all upset.
And don't get me wrong, I'm acompetitive son of a gun, but, you
know, I mean, if I saw youdraw back and you were like, on a
ten pointer and I was closeand I'd hit you, I would hit you.
(45:01):
Oh, man.
What happened?
What happened?
Only because when we were inthe turkey blind, you hit my elbow
to try to throw me off.
I did.
I did hit.
Was an accident, though.
I mean, look at how much Ifill the frame up on a freaking TV
screen here.
I'm.
I'm not really nar.
And I'm trying to wheel aroundand get my arm up to shoot with the
gun, and he.
I bumped into him.
(45:24):
You know, it's funny, though, man.
You know, it was the memories, man.
We just.
We had a great time with that.
That was a cool day.
Very cool day.
And that.
That's what I'm hoping, youknow, for.
For Jersey, that hopefully theweather holds out so I can get you
down here and we can at leastget one day just to hunt bear together.
(45:44):
Yeah, we will.
And just make more memoriesand just, you know, have fun.
You know, like I said, I've been.
Been getting a few on camera, been, you know, putting some bait
out and everything and gettingready and, you know, hopefully you'll
weather a hold out and they'llshow up and.
Yeah, I got to.
I got to send you the fee, too, for the.
The guiding fee, you know.
(46:06):
No, no, you never do.
No, you.
You know, you're good onthere, but, you know, I think for.
So I was going to talk aboutreal quick.
Yeah.
I was gonna say, what's yourtactic with all that?
Yeah.
So, like, right now I have agood idea where.
(46:27):
Where these bears are coming from.
They're coming from actually adifferent property.
I've been watching them longenough to see which way they come
in, which way they go out.
Yeah.
So my plan is I haven'tfigured out if I'm going to intercept
them when they first get in,you know, onto the property or if
to catch them leaving.
(46:48):
That I haven't decided just yet.
I want to give it another, youknow, couple days before I make,
you know, my final decision on there.
But, you know, I'm just, youknow, like I said, I've been watching
for a while.
I've been putting like a lotof rack getter stuff out and just
really, really watching them.
You know, I had some.
I had some soup.
I mean, you've seen some ofthe pictures.
(47:09):
I had some super big ones, which.
Yeah, I mean, they're gone now.
We haven't seen them.
But I still got a few decentones in there that, you know, that
we're after, so, you know,we'll see what happens.
And I'm gonna try the new thesever 2.0 hybrid.
Cool.
So, you know, I've always beena fan of them, so.
(47:31):
Good man.
I'm gonna try them with thewarhead arrow.
And yeah, we've had reallygood luck.
You've had good luck.
I'm not, I'm not a mechanical guy.
I don't.
I don't care for him.
But the design of that onewith the.
The cutting tip that it has onit, that.
That looks like, you know, itlooks like a pretty darn decent brother.
I've just.
I'm a fixed guy.
(47:52):
Yeah, there's nothing wrongwith that.
I used to be fixed forever.
Yeah, I'm just a fixed guy.
I. I like something that cutsfrom the time it enters to the time
it exits.
You guys know, I'm.
I'm at rec broadheads.
I shoot directs.
REC FX4, 100 grain.
It's like, you know, and I'mnot trying to like bash muzzy or
(48:16):
any.
It's like a muzzy on steroids.
It's.
It's a nasty broadhead.
Very accurate.
Yeah, I killed my buck with itlast year, so.
And they fly great, man.
A couple, Couple of guys on our.
On our crew on Whitetailadvantage, they.
They jumped on board with recand Dave was.
Dave PSC mobile Hunter wasshooting them out to his think as
(48:37):
far as like 120 yards or 80yards or something like that.
And that's crazy.
He was shocked.
He was like, dude, thesethings fly awesome.
And I'm like, you know, I toldyou they're.
They're a good head.
But those severs, man, if Ihad to like second jump on the bandwagon
with something, I might, Imight try them.
I see how they work for you.
(48:58):
And you know what?
It's all.
Everybody's got everything different.
They all use different stuff.
And yeah, Justin's on with wreck.
Yeah, Justin use them.
Yep, yep.
I forgot about that.
Justin.
Yeah, man, but you got to dowhat's you.
You got to use what works for you.
I mean, I know you know, I'veseen what they did for you last year.
This year.
Good blood trails.
(49:19):
Yep.
Hey, man, a bear.
You want something that'sgoing to cut because that hide is
so thick, man, it just coversthat hole up.
That's why I decided to gowith the 2.0 hybrids.
Yeah.
You know, they give me a little.
They give me a little bit morecut and then they got those.
Those bleeders on the front.
Yeah.
So I figured if anything, I'mgonna give those a try, you know?
(49:43):
So.
Yeah, Dave said he was.
They're most accurate on the market.
They were hitting dots at 90 yards.
The FX4s.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it helps that Dave's pretty.
A pretty incredible shooter, even though he shoots pretty shitty
equipment.
Psd.
Yeah.
But no, you can't say nothingbad about psc.
(50:06):
I mean, I used to shoot him.
That's a private joke.
We just bust on Dave's all thetime about psc.
We had another saying, but wecan't say it on here.
It's a PG13 show, but they'veshot competition for years, so when
he tells you it's accurate outto 90, it's accurate, you can best
(50:28):
believe it.
Yep.
I don't think I ever shot thatfar, even.
Even practicing, you know, because most of the spots where I
got.
I can't really shoot that far, so.
But, you know, I'm hoping inthe future I could start practicing
that.
That far.
Yeah.
(50:48):
Maybe I'll get good at it one day.
Do you shoot?
No.
Do you shoot lighted Knox Frank?
I don't.
I don't know if I. Yeah, yeah.
Yep.
Yeah.
So I shoot, obviously, likethe warhead ones, I always get them
from, you know, from Jason there.
So.
Yeah.
And you know, they're.
They're stupid bright.
(51:08):
You're always able to see themno matter where.
Where they hit or.
So I think even that day whenI, When I shot that, though, and
I called you, I'm like, yep, I can.
I remember, I'm have myearpiece in.
I'm like, hold on, let me look.
My binoculars.
I'm like, oh.
Yep.
Arrows covering blood.
We got her, buddy.
Yeah, yeah.
No, that's awesome, man.
I mean, you know, it's, it's.
(51:31):
It's something else, man.
I mean, having that on therenot only helps.
It not only helps you see howyour bow is actually tuned and you
know, if you got any wobble, but, man, it just helps.
Like when you see thatdisappear through the animal where
you were aiming, it lines upwith your pin and you Just watch
it disappear through there.
And you're like, yup.
And you can see it lit up onthe other side.
(51:53):
It's got blood.
You're like, oh, thank goodness.
You know, I got him.
But what a get.
I mean, think about it, man.
10, 12 years ago, we didn'thave that.
We don't have lighted knocks.
And it was like, go ahead.
No, go ahead.
I'm just, like, saying, yeah.
No.
I remember sitting, you know, standing there for freaking hours.
(52:15):
If you shot it in the highgrass and you're sitting there trying
to look for it with aflashlight, you know, I missed those
days at all, buddy.
You know?
Or if you.
You're like, yeah, I think Ishot it here, you know, because as
soon as you get down off thetree, sometimes it looks different
if you don't.
If you don't have.
(52:36):
Yeah.
You know, like, a certainlandmark picked out.
Like, if you forget or you getso hyped up and you get down off
the tree, then all of asudden, you're looking around, you're
like, yeah, I think you standhere, you're looking at your stand,
you're like, yeah, that wasabout right, you know, and the arrow's
never right there.
It's always.
You know.
I'll tell you what's prettyfreaking wild, is when you shoot
(52:58):
one with a crossbow.
I had shot that dough I wanted.
I took the crossbow out.
Wow.
I mean, that thing is so fast.
If you didn't have thatlighted knock, you wouldn't know
if you hit them or not, you know?
And I was like, damn.
I mean, like I said, you know,it's not something like I want to
use a lot, but I was temptedto just see what it did because I
(53:19):
never used one before.
Yeah, of course.
I got.
I got out here, I took a nice, big, heavy dough with it, and I was
like, that thing's pretty cool.
I'm like, all right, go put it back.
I. I'm a bogo.
I want to keep shooting, Bo.
I don't want to get.
I don't want to get too usedto this thing, but, yeah, you know,
it was cool, man.
It was.
It was really, really good.
Good to have those knocks onthere with everything.
(53:40):
Yeah.
Bring.
Bring something new to the table.
Something a little different, you know, and.
No, absolutely, man.
Because I. I killed a few deerwith the crossbow myself, and I was
like, oh, no, this is, youknow, this is pretty cool, but I'm
just like you.
I'm like, ah.
I'm like, all right, let's.
Let's get back to actually, you know, let me put in the work
and actually try to get goodat this here.
(54:01):
You know, like we, like wewere saying, like we were saying
because it used to be now youcan use them all season long, which
I don't care.
Yeah.
But like later on, likemuzzleloader season, you know, because
I always got extra tags bythen, you know, I'm like, ah hell,
let's take the freakingcrossbow out, you know.
Shoot a dough with the crossbow.
Yeah, nice late season doughor something.
(54:23):
That's fun, man.
You know, I love muzzleloaderhunting though too.
So you ain't getting that outof your hands, you know?
No, that was one of thefavorite things I remember.
I got into it for thisspecific reason was Jersey muzzleloader
opens before it's.
It's its original gun opener, the six day firearm.
(54:44):
So I was like, I was like, youknow what?
You know, you only, you gettwo days, then it closes and then
you get more days during the muzzleloader.
I'm just like, you know what?
Yeah, let me get into it.
So I went out and I still haveit to this day.
Bought a.50 caliber Thompsoncenter omega.
Yeah, I shoot the horn.
I shoot the Hornady XT.
(55:05):
Yeah, XTPs in 240 grain usually.
I usually run two pellets, butI think I might do three this year.
And I mean that thing's justbeen wicked, man.
I remember the first year Igot into it, I was just laying them
down, man.
I think I killed like six orseven deer.
I killed two deer right here, man.
(55:26):
Like yeah.
Last year.
Yep.
I told you guys like watch howmuch I rack up with freaking muzzle
loader season comes and I.Dude, I just, I love that thing.
I have.
Oh, what the hell was it?
Oh no, no, no.
Now I can't think of the nameof it.
Oh, cva.
Duh.
(55:46):
Cva.
You have so freaking many.
So it's got, it's got the,it's, it's got the, the Bergara barrel
in it.
It's a cva.
I've had it for a bunch of years.
Breaks in the middle, allstainless steel.
Just a straight four powerscope on it.
But when covet hit, youcouldn't get powder.
(56:08):
Yeah.
Couldn't get the pre formed pellets.
Right.
So I'm like, man, I gotta getmore powder.
So I went to the localsporting goods store and they only
had the loose stuff.
Yeah.
So I'm like, all right.
So I bought the measuringhorn, this and that.
My cousin, he Hunts with loose powder.
Been hunting loose powder foryears, right?
He's like, it's fine bro,you'll like it.
I'm like, all right, well youtake two preform charges.
(56:31):
They're 50 grains each.
So you have 100 grains ofcharge, right?
I said let me start at 90.
So I started at 90, dude.
The thing was attack driver.
I'm like, yeah, I'm notmessing with that.
So I just make up my preloaded charges.
90 grains.
It's.
It's triple seven Hodgson powder.
(56:53):
Let me tell you man, is thatthing wicked.
I shot a deer up here on thetop of the hill.
It was like maybe the last 10minutes of light.
It went down an apple orchardrow and I'm up there like a sniper
in this freaking two man stand.
I'm resting the barrel on therail and I.
That deer is going out and Iwasn't going to shoot it.
And I'm like, nah, send it.
(57:15):
She turned and I just touchedit off and I seen her kick and then
I seen her take off runningand I had like five or six deer running
around.
You know how it is.
You lose them?
Yep.
I got down, blood everywhere.
I'm like, holy crap.
She hit an apple tree dead onand uprooted it.
(57:35):
It was laying on it.
I got a picture on my phone.
I'll show you.
She slammed into it, knockedthe tree just about over.
It was laying there, you know.
And I'm like, is that.
Is that the.
The video you sent me one timeof the blood trail or is that what
it was?
No, that was last.
That was last year.
That was last year I came homefrom work.
There's just blood everywhere.
Yeah, but you know, it's funny man.
(57:57):
You know, what the hell didSquatch is like the Mel Gibson in
the Patriot running around thewoods, placed in muddle.
Yeah, okay, I guess I'll take that.
That's.
That's kind of like me.
I'm.
I'm crazy.
Yeah.
You don't have a choice now.
I can't run too far.
No are close.
But I get like 50ft and I'malready winded.
(58:18):
So.
Yeah, but yeah, that's funny man.
Thanks.
That is.
That was a cool movie.
I did like that movie.
That was a good movie.
Yeah man.
I was like, oh, he's gonna gethim second man.
But yeah, no, the muzzleloaderseason's fun man.
I. I love, I love.
(58:38):
You know, everybody's like,I'm a bow hunter.
I'm this dude.
I'm everything.
Just me too.
Whatever Season it is.
Just put the damn thing in myhand, tell me, go out there and get
something.
That's it.
I'm gonna try fishing for him.
Maybe I can snag one.
I bet you could.
As many fishing poles as youhave, you.
You gotta get at least one of them.
I could.
I bet I could snag one out there.
(59:00):
Coming out of the tree, see, like an eight pointer.
He'd be like, sneaking along, thinking he's all right.
I'd be like.
And then snag him and pull himoff his feet.
That's it.
Going snagging.
They'll have me a deadliestcatch on the freaking outdoor channel
or something.
Yep.
Look at this freaking guy.
He's not grabbing.
(59:21):
He's catching deer.
Yep.
But.
All right, Squatch, I think wereached that.
Yeah.
Magical hours.
You have anything else youwant to add?
We've had.
We have bored everybody todeath enough for tonight.
Enough, I think.
Listen, in another two weeks,we'll do him death again.
(59:42):
Oh, yeah.
And then we got the other showin between that, so I'm sure.
Yeah, but, yeah, listen, theyain't getting rid of us put that
way, so we better get used to us.
That's about it.
You got anything else?

We're glad to have you guys onpart of the team.

and that.
That's what it's about, man.
(01:01:08):
Yep.
Oh, absolutely.
But, yeah, I like to give a,like, one more shout out to buckshot
taxidermy.
He's.
He's always taking care of me.
So if anybody's in Jersey, even if you're not in Jersey and
you want to go, give Mark ashout, he's down here in Sussex County.
If you can't get a hold ofhim, get a hold of me, and I'll get
(01:01:29):

And, you know, if you haven'tchecked out racket or yet again,
we're gonna give Gerard ashout out again.
He's.
His stuff is phenomenal, man.
He's helped me in more waysthan I can even imagine.
So.
Guys, get on board, man.
Get a hold of Gerard.
You know, the rut's coming.
You need.
You need some quality.
(01:01:49):
We're not just saying that.
I mean, I will.
I will freaking take picturesout in the woods of what I use for
you guys when I'm standingover that dead deer.
And I'm telling you right now,I don't trust my hunts to just anything.
That stuff is on point.
Very good stuff.
Yep.
